When the camera fades in from commercial, the show?s title card is placed over a shot of the two graves in the Graveyard of Ships. The pendant logo splits, the title fades into the distance and the camera segues to Kirk standing in front of the Pit of Despair with the two remaining teams.
?Welcome back to Legends!? he says. ?Now is the time where the glory goes to the fastest and the strongest, so let?s talk to our team players.? He starts on the left side of the screen, with the girl on the Purple Parrots, who has dark hair in a braided ponytail, brown eyes and freckled skin, and is wearing a purple waterproof jacket over her team shirt. ?On the Purple Parrots, we have Callie. How old are you, Callie??
?Eleven,? answers Kali.
?And I understand you like skateboarding,? Kirk reads off the index card in his hand. ?Tell me about that.?
?Well,? Kali explains, ?I got a couple older brothers, they do that, so they started showing me how to skate and I liked it.?
?How long have you been skateboarding??
?About? two years.?
?What?s your best trick??
?Anything,? laughs Kali.
?Ooh, nice,? Kirk comments before moving on to Kali?s slightly taller partner, a short-brown-haired boy with hazel eyes. ?And your partner here is Danny. How old are you??
?Thirteen,? he replies.
?And I understand you like rock climbing and mountain biking,? Kirk reads. ?Tell me about that? uh, those.?
?Um,? explains Danny, ?well, I?ve been climbing a long time, I used to do BMX biking but I really like it in the mountains? so I started mountain biking.?
?This is a strong Purple Parrots team, folks!? Kirk comments. ?Let?s hear it for ?em!? The audience applauds for a few seconds, and Danny and Kali clap with them. As the applause begins to subside, Kirk turns to the right side of the screen to talk with the Red Jaguars, starting with a green-eyed girl with glasses and her blond hair tied in a braided ponytail. ?And on the Red Jaguars, we have Erica. How old are you??
?Twelve,? she says in response.
?And you play an instrument, right?? Kirk asks, holding his microphone up to Erica?s mouth.
?Yes, I play trombone.?
?How long have you been playing that??
?About two years.?
?Maybe you can join a marching band soon.?
?I?m already in one,? Erica answers with a smile.
?Very nice,? Kirk replies. He then moves further to the right to talk to Erica?s partner, a brown-eyed boy with long, curly dark hair tied back in a ponytail, who is wearing a red waterproof jacket over his team shirt. ?And also on the Red Jaguars? Nick, how old are you??
?Twelve,? he answers.
?And I hear you play basketball, but you also play an instrument,? read Kirk. ?Do you play the trombone too??
?Actually, I play the drums,? Nick replies.
?And how long have you been doing that??
?About? four years,? he answers, looking down at his hands in the process.
?And are you in a band??
?Not yet,? laughs Nick.
?But you?re gonna have to make some music in these Temple Games,? Kirk says, moving back toward the center of the screen. ?Let?s hear it for the Red Jaguars!? The audience briefly applauds for the Red Jaguars, and Nick and Erica high-five during the applause.
"All right, you guys ready to play?" asks Kirk.
"YEAH!? shout the players in response.
"Okay, then go get ready for the Temple Games!" Kirk says, and Nick and Kali walk offscreen in one direction, Erica and Danny in another. "In the Temple Games, each team is competing for?" he opens a pouch and pulls out a small gold medallion to show to the camera? "Pendants of Life. The winning team will need those Pendants to protect them from the DREADED Temple Guards as they make their way through the Temple. There are three Temple Games. Olmec, tell us about Temple Game #1."
Olmec begins:
"According to our legend, Confucius came up with his philosophies by sitting in front of a stone in his garden and thinking. In this game, you will gather stones for a garden of your own, at the top of the slippery slope behind you. When Kirk gives the signal, push the first stone up the slope with your backs until you reach the top. Place the stone there, and water will flow down the slope as you slide back down. Then, take the next stone and do it again.
"The first player to place all four stones at the top of the slope and slide back down? or the player that's further along after 60 seconds? wins."
"Well, looks like we're off to a rocky start," Kirk comments as the camera fades over to him. "Let's put 60 seconds on the clock." A countdown clock appears in the bottom right of the screen, and Kirk dashes offscreen to the side. "On your mark, get set, GO!"
?There they go! With their backs, they gotta? push their way up the hill with the rocks!? Early in the round, Kali gets a bit of a lead as Nick has trouble getting started. ?And it?s tough, but it looks like both teams got it!? As the game progresses, Kali has a little trouble moving on and Nick moves slightly ahead of his opponent. However, at the :28 mark, Nick places his first stone at the top of the ramp and prepares to slide back down for another. Kali finally places her stone a few seconds later and slides back down.
?Purple Parrots caught up? nice splashing there!? Kirk laughs as Kali slides down the ramp with a trail of water following her (:20). As soon as she grabs the second stone, she puts it behind her and tries to catch up to Nick, who is now moving a bit faster than before. With ten seconds to go, Nick is a little more than three-quarters of the way up the slope, while Kali is only a little under halfway to the top. ?Just a few seconds left! Can the Red Jaguars get another one?? With four seconds left, Nick appears at the top, and looks down at Kirk before placing the stone into position with his hands. Kali is almost at the top when time runs out; Nick is sliding back down as the countdown clock reaches zero, and a pattern of ceiling spotlights flashes to indicate the end of the game.
?That?s it! C?mon down!? Kirk calls out before appearing onscreen; Kali slides back down with a big splash. ?Nice? nice splash!? he laughs as he runs over. ?You got? well, the Purple Parrots got one stone at the top, the Red Jaguars got two just in the nick of time? they get a half a Pendant of Life!? The audience briefly applauds as Kirk and Nick high-five, then Kirk goes over to where Kali is. ?Purple Parrots can catch up in the next game, it?s worth a half-Pendant. Olmec, tell us about it.?
Olmec continues:
"During Confucius's life, China was deep in political disarray, and many people sought refuge in case things got violent. When Kirk gives the signal, climb along the wall and maneuver the chain along the slot until you reach the safe place at the end, then pass through.
"The first player to find refuge from the civil wars? or the player that's further along at the end of 60 seconds? wins."
"It's a race to set yourself free? this could be tough," comments Kirk as the camera segues over to him standing in front of the equipment for the game. "Let's put 60 seconds on the clock?" A countdown clock appears onscreen in the bottom-right corner and a red half-Pendant in the upper-right corner, and Kirk runs offscreen to get out of the camera's way. "On your mark, get set, GO!"
On ?Go,? Erica and Danny start making their ways along the vertical mazes, starting by climbing up using the protrusions in the wall. Danny moves faster than Erica at first, but the harness he is wearing is a little big and starts slipping on occasion, forcing him to stop and adjust it. Both players, however, get to the first of the three metal loops rather quickly and make their way through them in less than fifteen seconds? Erica makes it through at the :47 mark, but Danny is already through at this point. Impressively, he moves even faster as he starts to descend along the board, except for a few horizontal parts, to reach the second metal loop. In fact, he makes it through the second loop with 36 seconds to go, just as Erica starts to approach it.
?Purple Parrots doing fast, they just got one more to go!? narrates Kirk as Erica starts to make her way through the second metal loop. ?But can the Red Jaguars catch up?? She makes it through at the halfway mark, but by then, Danny is approaching the last curve before the final loop and the finish line. He makes it through the final loop with 24 seconds to go, while Erica is only approaching the last two bends before the loop.
?That?s it! That?s it!? Kirk shouts out, running onscreen again as spotters also appear to unfasten the players? harnesses and the indicators on the screen disappear. ?Red Jaguars and Purple Parrots gave it a great effort, but the Purple Parrots made it through first. That gives them the half-Pendant of Life!? The audience briefly applauds again as Kirk and Danny high-five. ?So it?s all tied up, a half a Pendant apiece, we go to the third and final game, it?s worth a full Pendant. Olmec, tell us.?
Olmec narrates:
"Confucius spent a long time writing down his philosophies, but they soon became known to the world. In this game, you and your partner will share some of his philosophies. When Kirk gives the signal, one player from each team will grab an ancient scroll, then both of you will climb up the wall. Transfer the scroll over the wall, and then climb back down and place it in your bin. Then, grab another scroll and do it again.
"The team that transfers the most scrolls in 60 seconds? wins!"
The camera transitions over to Kirk in front of the teams. "This is for the Temple," he explains. "Let's put 60 seconds on the clock." With a bang, the countdown clock appears onscreen in the bottom-right corner; a purple half-Pendant appears in the upper-left and a red half-Pendant in the upper-right. Kirk dashes off to the side and eventually out of the camera frame. "On your mark, get set, GO!"
?There they go, they gotta climb the wall and hopefully they?ll get there at the same time!? The Purple Parrots and the Red Jaguars both try to climb up the walls, and Nick and Erica both make it to the top of their wall within only about eight seconds. However, Kali?s inability to climb slows the Purple Parrots down, and even after fifteen seconds, Danny is still at the top, holding the scroll and waiting for his partner. The Red Jaguars get the first scroll in the bin with 44 seconds to go, and begin to go back up with another. They make it to the top of the wall again at the :37 mark and make a second transfer; just as they start back down, Kali finally reaches the top of the Parrots? wall, where Danny has still been waiting for her.
?Purple Parrot left her partner hanging, but now she?s got it!? Kirk remarks as the Purple Parrots transfer their first scroll from Danny to Kali (:31). ?But now the Red Jaguars are ahead, can the Purple catch up?? Erica makes it to the bottom and drops her second scroll in the Jaguars? bin with 29 seconds on the clock, and promptly heads back up the wall again. The Purple Parrots? first scroll makes it in the bin not too long thereafter. The Red Jaguars meet for a third transfer with nineteen seconds remaining, as the Purple Parrots scramble to catch up. ?They?re behind, they know they gotta make up some time now!? Kali somehow makes it up the wall quicker this second time; the team meets and makes a second transfer with twelve seconds on the clock. However, the Red Jaguars? third scroll makes it in the bin by that time, and the team scrambles to try and make one more transfer as the audience starts to count the final seconds. The Purple Parrots score for a second time with a mere five seconds on the clock, as the Red Jaguars reach the top of their wall again. ?Red Jaguars like clockwork! Can they make this one in time?? The Red Jaguars scramble back down the wall, but not nearly fast enough to reach the base in time. When the clock reaches zero, some ceiling spotlights flash to indicate the end of the game, and spotters run onscreen to start unfastening the players from their equipment.
?Time?s up! Let?s check it out!? Kirk announces as he runs onscreen and pulls the players? buckets together. The players walk over as soon as they?re freed from the equipment, and Kali says something to Kirk. ?She?s telling me they didn?t make it, let?s see? Let?s start with the Purple Parrots. They got?? he reaches into the Purple Parrots? bin and pulls out the scrolls while counting? ?one? two scrolls. Red Jaguars got?? Kirk now does the same for the Jaguars? bin? ?one, two? three scrolls! The Red Jaguars are goin? to the Temple!? Nick and Erica jump up and down in excitement and high-five while in midair, and Kirk goes over to talk to the Purple Parrots as the audience?s applause starts to subside. ?Purple Parrots gave it a gallant effort, it was a great match and we enjoyed having them both. But they?re not going away empty-handed, here?s what we got for them.? Danny and Kali will each be receiving a $100 U.S. Savings Bond provided by Skechers.
The camera cuts back from the consolation prize, and now only Kirk and the Red Jaguars are present in front of the equipment for the third Temple Game. ?The Red Jaguars fought hard, and now we?ll see if they can make it through Olmec?s Temple, retrieve that Seeking Stone of Confucius,? says Kirk, ?right after this!? The camera pans up to the Inner-Seeking Stone in the Observatory; the show?s logo then appears and the camera fades to commercial.
