Legends: Rebirth-The Smashed Statue of Darius the Second
« on: March 09, 2010, 07:31:15 PM »
Episode 33: The Smashed Statue of Darius the Second

The camera winds and twists its way through a thick jungle of strange and exotic plants. After a few wrong turns, it finally stops in front of an ancient Mayan temple. At the base of the temple, a giant stone head sits. Suddenly, the head’s eyes light up and it begins to speak:

Legends of the Hidden Temple: Rebirth!” These words appear on the screen. “With your guide, Kirk Fogg! And here he is now!”

A middle-aged man wearing a denim shirt and blue jeans swings in on a rope. He drops down and runs up the Steps of Knowledge, microphone in hand.

“Thank you! Thank you, everybody! Nice to see everyone again! It’s good to see you again, Olmec! Welcome to Legends of the Hidden Temple: Rebirth. The rooms are filled with lost treasures protected by mysterious Mayan Temple Guards. Only Olmec knows the legends behind each of these newly discovered treasures in his temple…which one are we gonna hear about today, Olmec?”

“The legend of the Smashed Statue of Darius the Second,” Olmec replies.

“Oh, the Smashed Statue of Darius the Second,” Kirk repeats. “Well, the legend is set, and one of these six teams will have a chance to retrieve the smashed statue—will it be:

“The Red Jaguars?” The camera zooms in on each team as they are introduced.
“The Blue Barracudas?
“The Green Monkeys?
“The Orange Iguanas?
“The Purple Parrots?
“Or the Silver Snakes?

“They’ll have to pass some tough physical and mental tests, but in the end, only one team will have the right to enter Olmec’s Temple. But first, they have to cross the Moat, and Olmec’s gonna tell us how they have to do that today…”

Olmec begins to explain the Moat Crossing:
“Before you, a mini-archipelago floats in the Moat. Your task is to cross the Moat by hopping from island to island. When Kirk gives the signal, step out onto the first island, find your footing, and continue on to the next island. Once you’re safely across, it’ll be your partner’s turn to do the same. If you fall or touch the islands with anything other than your feet, you must go back and start again. Once both players reach the other side, run over and hit the gong.” Kirk hits the Silver Snakes’ gong to demonstrate. “The first four teams to hit their gongs will go on to the next round!”

“All right, let’s get started,” says Kirk. “Hey teams, are you ready?”
The six teams scream and cheer in response.
“Olmec, are you ready?” Kirk asks.
“Let’s rock,” Olmec replies.
“All right,” says Kirk. “On your mark, get set, GO!”

“There they go, onto the islands!” Kirk narrates as the first six players from each team rush out onto the islands. Right off the bat, the Purple Parrots’ girl and the Red Jaguars’ boy fall into the water and are sent back. Everyone else makes it across. “It’s tough, because you have to be fast, and you’ve gotta stay balanced!” Kirk says. The Purple Parrots’ girl and Red Jaguars’ boy make it across on their next try, but the Green Monkeys’ girl falls in and is sent back. The Orange Iguanas, Silver Snakes and Blue Barracudas all hit their gongs in quick succession in that order as the Purple Parrots’ boy falls in the water as he tries to cross. “Oh, there he goes—it’s coming down to the wire here!” Kirk narrates. The Red Jaguars’ girl almost falls into the Moat, but she fortunately regains her footing and makes it to the other side, where she hits her team’s gong to end the Moat Crossing.

“All right, that’s it!” Kirk exclaims as he rushes over and stands beside the Silver Snakes. “Silver Snakes had no problems getting across that Moat, right across, one-two-three, and goin’ on to the Steps of Knowledge are the mighty Silver Snakes…and the Orange Iguanas…” Kirk pauses between each team’s name to allow for applause. “…and the Blue Barracudas…and the Red Jaguars! The Green Monkeys and the Purple Parrots gave it a great try, but didn’t quite make it. We’ve got a great gift for them, too, and here’s what it is!” They receive a $50 gift certificate from Old Navy.

Legends: Rebirth-The Smashed Statue of Darius the Second
« Reply #1 on: March 09, 2010, 07:35:57 PM »
Kirk and the remaining four teams are now standing atop the Steps of Knowledge. “As the quest continues, it’s now time for Olmec to tell us about this Smashed Statue of Darius the Second. But teams, pay attention, because your knowledge of this legend could bring you closer to Olmec’s Temple…”

Olmec begins to tell the story:
“One of the greatest rulers of ancient Egypt was Pharaoh Amyrtaeus. Although he built no massive monuments and reigned over Egypt for only six years, he was known as a fearless military tactician. However, Amyrtaeus never thought he’d be the pharaoh. When he was born, Egypt was under the rule of the Persians and the temperamental King Darius the Second. When Amyrtaeus was older, he moved to the city of Sais, where he became a top general in the Persian-Egyptian army. Darius himself regularly inspected the army, and put down many of the Egyptian soldiers.
“‘Amyrtaeus, are you pulling my royal leg? These new recruits don’t look like they could kill a sand flea! Am I honestly to believe that they could defend this kingdom? Train them harder!!’
“Legend has it that one day, Amyrtaeus had had enough.
“‘So, he wants the armies to be stronger, eh? Well, I’ll show that royal pain in the backside how strong we are!’
“And with that, Amyrtaeus began training his men on the sly to be fearless guerrilla warriors. Whenever any of Darius’ men drew near, Amyrtaeus and his soldiers would act as if they were training normally, so Darius never suspected a thing.
“‘Well…looks like these pansies are finally starting to listen to me!’
“Amyrtaeus and his men trained for seven long years until 404 BC, when King Darius the Second died unexpectedly. The Persian government was caught off-guard, and Amyrtaeus saw it as a perfect opportunity.
“‘Today’s the day we take back Egypt from these horrible invaders! Men, attack!’
“The men attacked, catching the Persians completely by surprise. The Persians were driven out of Egypt, and Amyrtaeus soon crowned himself pharaoh. During his reign, all remnants of the Persian Occupation were destroyed, including several statues of King Darius. A fragment of one of these destroyed statues has found its way to the Temple. Your quest is to find the Smashed Statue of Darius the Second and bring it back here.”

“Thanks, Olmec,” Kirk replies. “So tell us, where is the, uh…statue?”

“The Smashed Statue of Darius the Second can be found in the Room of the Secret Password,” Olmec replies. The camera zooms in on the broken statue piece on the guardrail of the room before fading back to Kirk.

“Ooh,” replies Kirk. “All right, teams, you’re now standing on the Steps of Knowledge. In a moment, Olmec’s gonna ask you a question. If you think you know the answer, I want you to stomp down on the ancient marking in front of you. If you’re right, you can move down to the next level, but if you’re wrong or run out of time, I’ll give the other teams a chance to answer.” Kirk begins descending the Steps. “The first two teams to make it to the bottom level will be one step closer to Olmec’s Temple. Olmec…we’re now ready for your first question.”

Olmec begins:
“Was Amyrtaeus the ruler of: ancient Greece, ancient Egypt, or—”
The Blue Barracudas ring in. “Egypt!”
“That is correct,” Olmec replies. The Blue Barracudas proceed to the next step.
“Step down, Blue Barracudas,” Kirk instructs. “Next question.”

“When Amyrtaeus was young, was Egypt ruled by: the Greeks, the Persians, or the Turks?”
The Silver Snakes ring in. “The…Persians.”
“That is correct,” Olmec replies. The Silver Snakes join the Blue Barracudas on the second step.
“Silver Snakes are right behind them,” Kirk observes. “Next question, please.”

“Who was king of the Persians: David the First, Darius the Second, or Henry the Eighth?”
The Silver Snakes ring in. “Darius the Second…?”
“That is correct,” Olmec replies. The Silver Snakes proceed to the next-to-last step.
“Woo—just like that, the Silver Snakes are just one step away,” Kirk narrates. “But remember, we need two teams. Next question, Olmec.”

“How long did Amyrtaeus rule as pharaoh: six years, sixteen years, or sixty years?”
The Red Jaguars ring in. “Six years…?”
“That is correct,” Olmec replies. The Red Jaguars descend to the second step.
“Nice…Red Jaguars, step down,” Kirk says. “Next question.”

“Did Amyrtaeus serve as a general in the city of: Alexandria, Sais, or Memphis?”
No one rings in. Right after a whistle-like sound effect is heard, the Blue Barracudas ring in.
“Time is up,” Olmec says. “The correct answer was: Sais.”
“Okay—Blue Barracudas didn’t ring in quickly enough, unfortunately,” Kirk explains. “But there’s still plenty of time left—next question.”

“According to our legend, did Darius think the Egyptian soldiers were: too weak, too inexperienced, or—”
The Silver Snakes ring in. “Uh…too weak…?”
“That…is correct!” Olmec exclaims. The Silver Snakes high-five one another as they step to the bottom level.
“And there’s our first team!” Kirk narrates. “We still need one more. Who’s it gonna be—the Blue Barracudas, the Red Jaguars or the Orange Iguanas? Next question, Olmec.”

“When Darius the Second died, did Amyrtaeus’ army: flee the country, send their condolences, or—”
The Orange Iguanas ring in. “Uh…attack the…the kingdom…?”
“That…is correct,” Olmec replies. The Orange Iguanas join the Red Jaguars and Blue Barracudas on the second step.
“Nice job by the Orange Iguanas—step down,” Kirk comments. “Still anyone’s game here…next question.”

“Is Egypt located in: Asia, Africa, or Europe?”
The Blue Barracudas ring in. “Africa.”
“That is correct,” Olmec replies. The Blue Barracudas step to the penultimate level.
“Nice…the Blue Barracudas are only one step away,” Kirk narrates. “Still time for the other two teams…next question.”

“What river is Egypt’s primary source of water: the Amazon—”
The Orange Iguanas ring in. “Uh…the Nile…?”
“That is correct,” Olmec replies. The Orange Iguanas step to the next-to-last level.
“Ah, now the Orange Iguanas are just one step away,” Kirk says. “Still time for the Red Jaguars to pull this off, though—next question.”

“The Nile River empties in a triangle-shaped formation into the Mediterranean Sea. Is this formation called: an alpha, a gamma, or a delta?”
After a few seconds, the Orange Iguanas ring in. “A gamma?”
“Incorrect,” Olmec replies.
The Blue Barracudas ring in. “A delta?”
That…is correct!” Olmec booms. The Blue Barracudas high-ten one another as they join the Silver Snakes on the bottom step.

“And we’ve got our two teams!” Kirk exclaims as he rushes over and stands between them. “It’s the Blue Barracudas, and the Silver Snakes! All right! Red Jaguars, Orange Iguanas, come down here, you guys—you guys did great too, and we’ve got a great gift for you, and here’s what it is!” They receive Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs on DVD.

Kirk is now seen standing between the Blue Barracudas and the Silver Snakes. “These two teams are gonna play for the right to enter Olmec’s Temple, and they’re gonna do it right after this!”

The camera pans to one edge of the Moat and zooms in on a small whirlpool at the edge as the title appears onscreen, and we fade to a commercial.

Legends: Rebirth-The Smashed Statue of Darius the Second
« Reply #2 on: March 10, 2010, 11:35:16 AM »
We return from the break to see Kirk standing in front of the Temple with the two remaining teams.

“Welcome back,” he says. “Now, the glory goes to the fastest and the strongest. But before we get started, let’s meet our teams…

“On the Blue Barracudas, we have Brittani—she plays the piano and she wants to be a pediatrician. And her partner is Colby—he plays soccer and basketball, and he also likes to draw. Let’s hear it for the Blue Barracudas!” The audience claps for the short brown-eyed girl with shoulder-length black hair and the taller blue-eyed boy with short brown hair.

“And on the Silver Snakes, we have Molly—she plays softball, and she also likes to cook. And here’s her partner, Robbie—he likes to hike and kayak, and he wants to be a park ranger when he gets older. Let’s give a hand for the Silver Snakes!” The audience applauds for the blue-eyed girl with long, wavy auburn hair and the tall brown-eyed boy with short black hair.

“All right, are you all ready to play?” Kirk asks.

“Yeah!” the teams reply.

“All right, go get ready for the Temple Games. Now, in the Temple Games, these teams are competing for…” Kirk retrieves a Pendant of Life from his pouch and holds it up to the camera. “…Pendants of Life. They’ll need the Pendants they win to protect them from the dreaded Temple Guards as they make their way through Olmec’s Temple. There are three Temple Games. Olmec, tell us about Temple Game #1…”

“Okay, boss,” Olmec replies in a mobster-like voice. The black lights under Olmec come on and he begins to explain the first Game:

“Amyrtaeus led many capable soldiers in the Egyptian-Persian army, but as the old saying goes, ‘A soldier is only as good as his weapon’. In this game, you’ll be gathering weapons for the soldiers. When Kirk gives the signal, jump up, grab an arrow, come back down and place it in your quiver. Then run around, grab another arrow and do it again. The first player to gather all their arrows, or…the player with the most arrows at the end of thirty seconds…wins.”

“All right, we’re stocking up the army here,” Kirk remarks. “Let’s get started…let’s put thirty seconds on the clock!” The clock slams down in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen with a loud gong sound effect. “On your mark, get set, GO!”

Brittani and Molly each have a little trouble jumping up high enough in their rotating lever to get the arrows off their platform. They both grab an arrow at about the same time, and they each successfully drop it in their bin with about 20 seconds left. Molly gets another arrow on her next try, but Brittani doesn’t jump high enough. On the next go-around, it’s Molly who misses the platform, and Brittani who grabs an arrow and drops it in her team’s bin. Six seconds remain as the girls each grab another arrow, and they both drop it in their team’s bin with one second left. Needless to say, time runs out soon afterward.

“Okay, that’s it!” Kirk shouts as he appears back onscreen. “Stop spinning—that’s it! Come on down, we’ll count it up!” Kirk kneels beside the bins as a spotter brings them over to him. “Blue Barracudas got—well, I don’t have to count it, that’s three arrows; and the Silver Snakes—well, I can tell without counting that that’s also three arrows! Both teams get the half Pendant of Life!” The audience applauds for a few seconds. “We’re tied up now, but this next game could change that. It’s also worth a half Pendant. Olmec, tell us about Temple Game #2, please…”

Olmec begins:
“While he was pharaoh, Amyrtaeus never built any of the large monuments we now associate with the ancient Egyptian kings. In this game, you will be creating one for him. When Kirk gives the signal, crawl out to the first cube, grab a piece of material, then come back and place it on the column. Then crawl out to the next cube. Along the way, you must avoid the swinging obstacles—if you’re hit, you must go back and start again. The first player to complete their monument to Amyrtaeus or…the player that’s further along at the end of sixty seconds…wins.”

“All right, we’re building a tribute to the pharaohs here,” Kirk remarks. “Let’s get started—set the clock for sixty seconds!” The clock slams down in the bottom corner again. “Let’s get the sandbags in place—on your mark, get set, and GO!”

Colby and Robbie each rush out to get the base of their structure and, without getting hit, both boys bring it back and place it on their column with 53 seconds left. They each grab the second part, but Colby is hit as he’s trying to bring it back, allowing Robbie to place his structure’s second level with 45 seconds to go. Robbie rushes out to get his third piece, but he gets hit just before he reaches it. Colby grabs his second piece and successfully brings it back without getting hit, placing it on his column to even the game up at the 33-second mark. Robbie rushes out again, but again he gets hit. Colby also gets hit trying to retrieve his third piece. With a little planning, Robbie manages to avoid the swinging sandbags and grabs his third piece, bringing it back with 20 seconds left. Colby also reaches his third piece, bringing it back with 12 seconds left. Both players try to reach the fourth piece, but Colby is hit and sent back. Robbie reaches his last piece with four seconds to go, but he can’t bring it back before time expires.

“Okay, that’s it—time’s up!” Kirk shouts as he rushes back onscreen. “Come here, you guys. It was neck-and-neck all the way through, but both teams managed to get three pieces of their monument, so both teams get the half Pendant!” The audience applauds for a second or two. “So now, we’re still tied up at one Pendant apiece. But now, we go to the third and final Temple Game, which will decide our winner. It’s worth a full Pendant of Life. Olmec, tell us about the…Temple Game #3…”

Olmec begins to explain the final Game:
“One Amyrtaeus and his soldiers reached Alexandria, they had to drive away numerous Persian soldiers before the Persian armies fled, and Egypt was finally freed. In this game, you’ll have to take down only four. When Kirk gives the signal, load your slingshot and fire a ball at one of the soldiers. Then your partner will load the slingshot. The first team to knock down all four soldiers, or…the team that knocks over the most soldiers in sixty seconds…wins.”

“All right, this is for the Temple,” Kirk remarks. “Let’s put sixty seconds on the clock!” The clock slams down in the corner, ready to go. “I’ll get out of the way here—ready, aim, FIRE!”

Both teams completely miss their targets on their first shot, but they each knock one over on their second try. The Blue Barracudas knock another target over with 48 seconds left, but the Silver Snakes miss again. No one scores for a few more seconds until about 30 seconds remain, when the Silver Snakes knock another target over and tie the game up. The Blue Barracudas knock their third target over with 25 seconds left, and it seems as though no one’s going to score anymore as the clock ticks down to zero. However, with one second left, the Silver Snakes knock a third target over, inevitably giving us the first two-Pendant tie in Legends history.

“Okay—whoa, that’s it!” Kirk shouts as he runs back onscreen. “Stop shooting, I’m unarmed! Whoa, it was crazy there toward the end, but the judges tell me that the Silver Snakes did get that last target in time, so both teams got three, so both teams get the full Pendant. That means the Blue Barracudas have two Pendants, the Silver Snakes also have two Pendants—we’ve got a tie! Bring in the tiebreaker pedestal!”

A spotter wheels in the tiebreaker pedestal as the two teams position themselves behind it. Kirk stands beside them and begins to explain the rules.

“Okay, teams, here’s what’s gonna happen. In a minute, Olmec will ask you one final question. If you think you know the answer, hit the gong in front of you. You’ll have three seconds to answer, and I have to accept your first response. The first team to buzz in and answer correctly is going inside the Temple in search of the Smashed Statue of Darius the Second. All clear?” The teams nod in understanding. “All right. Olmec…what is your final question?”

Olmec begins to ask the final question of the day:

“Which of these men was not an Egyptian pharaoh: Akhenaton, Tutankhamen, or Montezuma?”

The Silver Snakes ring in. “Mon…Montezuma?”

There is a long pause. “That…is correct!”

“The Silver Snakes are goin’ to the Temple!” Kirk exclaims as Molly and Robbie hug one another in celebration. “Nice work, guys! Blue Barracudas, you guys were great, too—tied up in all three games, it came down to the tiebreaker! We’ve got a great gift for you guys for playing, and here’s what it is!” They receive a custom-made Legends of the Hidden Temple: Rebirth watch.

As the prize disappears off-screen, Kirk is seen standing between Molly and Robbie. “Now we’ll see if the Silver Snakes can make it through Olmec’s Temple and retrieve that Smashed Statue, right after this!”

The camera snakes up the wall of the Temple and zooms in on a rubber tarantula on the ledge of the Shrine of the Silver Monkey as the title appears onscreen, and we go to a commercial.

Legends: Rebirth-The Smashed Statue of Darius the Second
« Reply #3 on: March 10, 2010, 11:37:24 AM »
We return from the break and find Kirk standing in front of the Temple with the winning team.

“Welcome back to Legends: Rebirth,” he says. “The Silver Snakes have proven themselves worthy, and now have earned the right to enter Olmec’s Temple. But first, Olmec’s gonna give them some information to help them retrieve the Smashed Statue of Darius the Second…”

Olmec begins to explain the layout as the camera gives us a first-person tour of the Temple:
“You could start…by running up the stairs to the Crypt! Grab the book from the skeletons, and pass into the Rope Labyrinth! Maneuver through the ropes, and climb into the Sculptor’s Studio. Smash the hollow sculptures to find the key that will lead you into the Chamber…of the Sacred Markers. Match the symbols on the right to those on the left, and pass into the Inventor’s Workshop. Spin the wheel to operate the machine, and open the door to the SHRIIIINE of the Silver Monkey! Assemble the statue and you may be headed toward the Room…of the Secret Password. Find the tablet with the correct inscription and shout it out to open the door to the Pharaoh’s Secret Passage. Slide down the tunnel to the Dungeon, where you could smash through the wall into the Dark Forest…but beware of the Temple Guards that may inhabit the trees! Find the key in the tree, and you’ll enter…the Ancient Cave. Press yourself against the correct cave painting, and you’ll gain entry to the Owl’s Nest! Find the special white owl, and attach it to its proper nest, then…crawl through the Labyrinth, climb through the Ledges, race down the stairs and back through the Temple Gate! The choices are yours and yours alone!” Olmec pauses. “You won 2 Pendants in the Temple Games. Who’s going first?”

“I am,” says Robbie.

“Very well, Robbie,” Olmec replies. “When Kirk gives the signal, you’ll race through the Gates into the Temple and make your way toward the Smashed Statue. Hidden inside the Temple are Temple Guards assigned to protect three specific rooms. You can trade your Pendant for an extra life and go on, but…if you’re caught without a Pendant, you’ll be taken out of the Temple, and it’ll be Molly’s turn to enter and try her luck. If you can reach the Smashed Statue, all the doors of the Temple will instantly unlock, and the Temple Guards will vanish. Return through the Gates with the Smashed Statue of Darius the Second in three minutes, and you’ll both be handsomely rewarded…and here’s how!”

• Just for making it this far, they’ll get an MP3 player.
• If they can grab the Smashed Statue within three minutes, they’ll also receive a bicycle from Mongoose.
• And if they can bring the Smashed Statue out of the Temple before three minutes expires, they’ll win a trip to St. Thomas.

“St. Thomas—sounds great,” Kirk says. “Let’s get you out in front, Robbie…mouthpiece in, there you go. Let’s set the clock for three minutes!” The clock slams down in the bottom corner.

“Olmec, lower your gate, if you please.” Olmec moans gutturally as the gate is lowered, and the black lights under him go out.

“Looks like we’re ready now—on your mark, get set, GO!”

Robbie darts up the stairs, disappearing behind Olmec soon afterward. We see him enter the Crypt (2:54), where he pulls one book, opening the door to the lower level. Seeing the open door, he decides to progress downward, and enters the Ledges, where he begins climbing through. About midway through the room, the first TEMPLE GUARD grabs Robbie’s leg (2:44). “Whoa, Temple Guard!” Kirk shouts. “That’ll cost him one of his Pendants!” After a great deal of difficulty getting his Pendant off his wrist, Robbie finally hands it over and progresses through the Ledges. He finds the actuator for the Rope Labyrinth and pushes it, opening the door (2:30). “All right—into the Labyrinth; the dark, dingy Labyrinth!” Kirk narrates as Robbie enters the room. He makes a beeline for the actuator for the Owl’s Nest, but the door won’t open (2:24). “Oh—looks like he’s gonna have to climb!” Kirk observes, and Robbie begins climbing the slotted walls in the room, using the ropes to pull him up. Completely bypassing the actuator for the Chamber, he makes his way to the very top of the room and hits the actuator for the Sculptor’s Studio, which opens (2:05). “All right, open door—into the Sculpture Studio!” Kirk narrates. Robbie makes his way to the front of the room, picks up a lion-shaped sculpture, and throws it on the floor. When it shatters, however, no key is found (1:59). He picks up a second sculpture (this one’s shaped like a standing man) and smashes it on the floor, revealing a key inside it (1:54). Robbie picks it up and inserts it into the pedestal the statue it was in previously sat on, but nothing happens (1:50). He tries the other vacant pedestal, but again, nothing happens (1:45). He knocks the third sculpture off its pedestal and inserts the key in the hole, opening the door to the Chamber of the Sacred Markers (1:41). “Alright, now he’s headed down,” Kirk narrates. Robbie climbs the ladder down into the Chamber, where he begins looking for the three missing tiles. He finds one on the stage-right wall and correctly places it (1:29), then finds the other two on the stage-left wall. Once he correctly places these tiles, the door to the Inventor’s Workshop opens (1:20). Robbie races into the room, but is immediately ambushed by the second TEMPLE GUARD (1:14).

“Whoa, Temple Guard got him! Go, Molly!” Kirk shouts, and Molly takes off. She slides down into the Ledges to start, and from that point, follows Robbie’s path exactly. She reaches the Inventor’s Workshop (0:49) and starts to turn the capstan in the room. “This girl plays softball—she’s fast; she can get it done!” Kirk remarks as Molly finishes turning the capstan. The lights in the room start “turning” the gears painted on the back wall of the room, and the door to the Shrine of the Silver Monkey opens (0:39). “All right—she’s only one room away now!” Kirk excitedly remarks. Molly enters the Shrine and starts to head to the back of the room to get a piece of the statue, but the third TEMPLE GUARD emerges from the secret door in the back of the room (0:35). “Oh, there’s that last Temple Guard!” Kirk cries as Molly hands her Pendant over. As the Temple Guard disappears back behind the secret door, Molly grabs the base of the statue, brings it to the front of the room, and places it on the pedestal (0:27). She heads back to get the middle and head, bringing them to the front fairly quickly. She places them both and jams the head down—but only the door to the Dark Forest opens (0:21). “Oh, there, she’s got it—no, wait, that door didn’t open!” Kirk says. “She’s gonna have to go down!” Molly looks around for a second or two before she notices the open door and progresses down through it. She enters the Dark Forest (0:13), where she reaches into the stage-right tree for some reason. “No, that doesn’t—she can just break through the wall and get there quicker!” Kirk says. Molly eventually stops what she’s doing (0:05) and breaks down the wall into the Dungeon. She starts to climb up the Pharaoh’s Secret Passage, but time runs out just before she can enter the Room of the Secret Password.

“Oh! That’s it!” Kirk laments. “She was so close! She got to the Dungeon, but she couldn’t get up the Secret Passageway! They were really close! But that’s all right, because they still get the MP3 players for being such good sports. We’ve gotta get out of here, but we’ll see you next time. Just remember—it’s not just Legends, it’s Legends: Rebirth! Buh-bye!”

Kirk and Robbie chat and play to the crowd as the credits start to roll. The camera shows various parts of the set, including a massive “growth” of plant material near the edge of the Ancient Cave and a coiled rubber snake beside the Moat. Molly emerges from the Temple, and she, Robbie and Kirk wave to the audience as the credits finish rolling.

Legends: Rebirth-The Smashed Statue of Darius the Second

The Smashed Statue of Darius the Second
Season 1, Layout 4
Artifact Location
: The Room of the Secret Password
Team: Silver Snakes (Molly Pace & Robbie Gallagher)
Pendants: 2
Result: Ran out of time

I would’ve considered this episode filler, had it not been for the unprecedented two-Pendant tie that occurred during the Temple Games. Well, that, and the nail-biter of a Temple Run.

Robbie definitely wasn’t the fastest contestant in the world, and he stalled quite a few times, but on the whole, he knew what he was doing. The only two mistakes he made were failing to pull all three books in the Crypt and taking too long to hand his Pendant over in the Ledges. Other than that, he did just fine, and was taken out with 1:14 remaining in the Inventor’s Workshop.

Molly was also quite hesitant, but she did slightly better than Robbie. She completed the objectives of two of the most contestant-defining rooms in the Temple layout, and it seemed a given that she would reach the artifact. Unfortunately, when she finished putting the monkey together, only the door to the Dark Forest opened. After reaching into one of the trees for some reason, she broke down the wall into the Dungeon, only for time to expire soon thereafter.

This wasn’t a bad run—the players just hesitated a little too much, and that cost them dearly.

Rating: 6.5 out of 10

Notes and Trivia: Needless to say, this is the first two-Pendant tie in Legends history. It’s also the first time we see a Temple Guard in the Inventor’s Workshop.

Hahah, I honestly didn't expect you and TBF would both feature a two-Pendant tiebreaker before me~

Other than that, I really liked the unusual Temple configuration.  The Snakes handled it well outside of being pretty hesitant, but if only Robbie went straight into the Chamber from the Rope Labyrinth...

...If your readers are actually reviewing how the players did like this, you can tell you're doing a good job at portraying the characters. :)

Would you believe that this episode originally wasn't supposed to have a two-Pendant tie?

I originally had my very last episode of Season 2 as the only episode of Rebirth that had one. But then, I figured that that would be a little too clich? to have the last episode end like that, so I changed it to this episode. All in all, I think it worked out alright. :D
