This isn't a contest like ironmask's. Those artifacts he mentioned were for his fanfic IIRC. Besides, this is a discussion.

Whaddya mean by blend in the room? But anyway, I believe ALF is talking about this thread, which discusses Legends' common ironic placement of artifacts.

I am still kind of slow on some of the legends, but I listed a few below I remembered.

* The Treasure Room

- The Golden Jaguar of Atahualpapx]* The Shrine of the Silver Monkey[/size]

- The Silver Saddle Horn of Hannibal: The legend deals with Hannibal recieving a Silver Saddle Horn for buying a large amount of elephants. Since the Shrine of the Silver Monkey is silver, the saddle horn blends in perfectly with the room. The elephant can be related to the monkey itself since they are both animals.

- The Golden Stallion of Ali Baba: Similar to the above artifact, the Golden Stallion is made of gold, which is a precious metal like the Silver Monkey. The stallion is also  an animal, just like the room that its dedicated too (a monkey).

* The Tomb of the Ancient Kings

- King Tut's Cobra Staff - The room itself resembles in ancient Egyptian tomb, and the cobra staff is placed on top of a sarcophagus. This is one of the artifacts that actually make sense, along with the golden jaguar one. King Tut was a king, thus he fits in the tomb.

I think a lot more were related to the legends than the artifacts themselves.

Queen Isabella threw away the Keys to the Alhambra; they ended up in the Dungeon (seems fitting for discarded things).

The Ruby Earring of ibn-Zibab was the answer to a coded clue? pretty similar to a secret password.

Good post.  I like the idea of the rooms actually dealing with the legend itself.  :)

Kind of like how the legend of the Codebook of Mata Hari, which deals with Mata Hari captivating other guy's hearts, or something like that. And the Codebooks were located in the Heart Room, so I guess you can relate them in a way.

And then, of course, the Lucky Pillow of Annie Taylor was in what used to be the Heart Room.

The Stone Head of the Evil King was probably planned before Medusa's Lair became an option, though.

Hey TAW, I added your legends to the list along with a few others This is a pretty interesting thread.

* The Treasure Room

- The Golden Jaguar of Atahualpa: The legend dealt with Atahualpa being captured by Pizarro. In the legend, Atahualpa promised Pizarro that he would fill one room of gold and two rooms of silver. The legend has it that the conquistadors took all the gold except for the golden jaguar. Since the golden jaguar is... well golden, then it made sense to be in the Treasure Room.

* The Shrine of the Silver Monkey

* The Heart Room

- The Codebook of Mata Hari: According to the legend, Mata Hari was a woman that was able to captivate any man's heart. The Codebook was located in the Heart Room, which relates to the Mata Hari's captivation.

* The Dungeon

- The Keys to Alhambra: According to the legend, Queen Isabella threw the keys to the Alhambra Palace into a dungeon so no one could ever reach them. Thus, they keys fit perfectly in the dungeon. (The Ancient Warrior)

* The Room of the Secret Password

- The Ruby Earring of Benzibab - According to the legend, the ruby earring was an answer to a secret code. Since the Room of the Secret Password involves figuring out a secret coding, the ruby earring relates to it in a way. (The Ancient Warrior)

Sorry to make a double post, but some of the artifact placements made no sense at all. Some like:

John Henry's Lost Hammer was in The Room of the Golden Idols
The Dried-Ear of Corn of Sojourner Truth was in The Jester's Court
The Lucky Pig of Amelia Earhart was in The Room of Harmonic Convergence
The Bonnet of Dolly Madison was in The Jester's Court
The Stone Head of the Evil King was in The Swamp
The Crown of Queen Nzinga was in The Lightning Room

and the worst one of all:
The Priceless Portrait of the Polynesian Girl was in The Laser Light Room. Seriously? What were they thinking when they put it there?  :roll:

Actually, of all of those, I think the Priceless Portrait seemed remotely similar.  Or at least I connected the concept of light to the idea of something visual like a picture. ^^;;

The others were mostly one-offs to put an artifact in each room.  I mean, there were only two in the room right of the Shrine in Season 1; same for the bottom room of the central shaft in Seasons 1 and 2.

The Bonnet of Dolley Madison COULD be a reference to the Marbury v. Madison Supreme Court case, though.  Who knows?

Don't try to explain to us what is and isn't discussion, please.  We have a pretty good idea.

I'm pretty sure they were thinking "hey, we haven't put an artifact in there yet."  Besides, what artifact would pertain to lasers?  It's as good as any.

Haha true, I guess I was putting a little too much thought into it. But yeah, I completely forgot that was the only artifact in that room, so it makes sense to put ot there. Like TAW mentioned, I forgot most of those artifacts were shoved into those rooms just for the sake of an artifact being in it.
