The 4th Anniversary
« on: August 13, 2009, 08:03:54 PM »
Good morning Phantom?s Temple! It?s now August 14th 2009, and this marks the 4th year anniversary of Phantom?s Temple. God, four years, has it really been that long? I?ll tell you right now, Phantom?s Temple holds a special place in my life and it?s been interesting to see it grow as I have, but enough about my personal life.

I established this forum in 2005 as I was entering the 9th grade. It?s four years later, I?m now a high school graduate, and the forum is still going strong.

It all started as a humble (and somewhat immature) dream. I had seen many forums cast their members down for things as small as posting random-off topic threads. I wanted to create a forum where one would have no reason to fear posting something completely random or chaotic, but rather encouraged it.

After experimenting with the idea of a video game forum title ?Phantom?s Den?, in the summer of 2006, after rediscovering Legends of the Hidden Temple through downloads, I pitched the idea to Ed for a Legends related forum. To this day I still owe a huge debt of gratitude to Ed, as he accepted the idea and placed a link on The King?s Storeroom. It?s been a long four years and we?ve been through a few rough periods, but we?re still going.

And so is my original vision of randomness freedom in the form of The Jester's Court.

We may not be the biggest forum out there or the most famous fan base, but we?ve got a good community here and a strong friendship among all our members. I know I say it all the time, but seriously guys, thanks. Phantom?s Temple would be nothing without your continued support.

And now, a big announcement. Yes, it?s that time again. I know it seems like we just had our last one but I would like to announce that in celebration of the 4th anniversary, we will now hold our 7th contest!
(More information to come in a separate thread)

Once again everybody, it?s been a great 4 years, and as an Admin, I could not ask for a better group of members.

You guys are fucking awesome.

I have to say that when I first found your forum, I never expected to join, even though I was such a huge Legends fan. As I joined here, I think I made some good (internet) acquiesces, maybe a friend, but considering that many of the ratio of the active members are very small, I really come to love this forum. I come here everyday expecting for the new and latest comment or announcement that the next person says. It's been great to join this year and at the same time, many of you have matured and grown. Thank you for this great find of a site.

Seriously, I don't know if I really ever considered that I would still be running this forum after high school was over.

Seeing you reserect that email gives me thoughts.....

I actually wanted to kick off the celebration of the 4th anniversary with a detailed history of the forum.

Of course my memory is a little skewed and I kinda threw everything together at the last second so I didn't really have time to focus on that, but seeing that email really inspires me to do so...

Stay tuned.

Hey man, it's thanks to people like you that it was possible, and as a newer member, I'm really happy you're celebrating it with us.

And that goes for all of you! The reason we've lasted for 4 years is because you all are such a great group of people.

I joined as a humble internet n00b on the 6th of January in 2007, when I had no idea what a forum was, how many smileys should be sufficient, and what "pointless bumping" meant. I wrote unprofessional and generally rushed and lousy fanfics. I contributed as little as I could to the episode log and the craziness in the Jester's Court. Back then, I probably sounded like a 10-year old.

Then I left in April unexpectedly with a sudden change of pace in school, a growing detachment from Legends, and basically, a lost of interest in the forum after the April Fools hype. Time passed so slowly back then, but before I knew it, I was back on again in the Summer of '08. Once again, school returned and I left.

Now, once again, two years after my first hiatus, I returned in full glory to Phantom's Temple, now making threads that spawn a fair amount of discussion, changed and greatly improved my fanfic writing style that put my writing skills to the test, and stay active in the spam and socializing in the various off-topic areas of the forum. I've really come a long way, and I must thank some of my internet jargon knowledge for the joining of this forum. I've enjoyed my stay at Phantom's Temple for the last four years, and let's make it a great four more years right through college, and possibly into the distant future.

Phantom, you're the most fucking awesomest person I've ever met. Long live the legend of my hidden temple, Phantom's Temple!

Sincerely,
Josh N. Green (The Bamboo Forest)

Congrats on the 4th year anniversary of Phantoms Temple! Who would've thought this forum would still be active 4 years later. And to think, I was one of the earliest members to join. (In fact, this may be my first time I'm a member at a forum from the beginning). Usually, I dont join a forum until months after its opening. It's been fun, and lets hope another 4 years is fun as well!
