*COMPLETE TITLE: The Ashes of the Chinese Books (The Dragon King and)

Legends: Wild Jungle

Season 1, Layout 2, Episode 7

(the camera zooms in on an ancient lush jungle, the palms are moving away as an elephant is heard. all the palms are gone, showing Olmec)

Olmec: Legends of the Hidden Temple: Wild Jungle

(The camera shifts to the temple and its rooms)

Olmec: With your guide, Kirk Fogg! And here he is now.

(Kirk is seen coming down the steps of the temple)

Kirk: Thank you, thank you! It's nice to see you! Thank you, Olmec. Welcome to the Hidden Temple. The rooms are filled with lost treasures that are protected by mysterious Mayan Temple Guards. Only Olmec knows the legend behind each of the treasures in his temple. Which one are we going to hear about today?

Olmec: The legend of the Dragon King and the Ashes of the Chinese Books.

Kirk: Ahh, the Legend of the Dragon King. Well, the legend is set and one of these six teams will have the chance to retrieve the ashes. Will it be The Red Jaguars? The Blue Barracudas? The Green Monkeys? The Orange Iguanas? The Purple Parrots? Or the Silver Snakes? They?re going to have to pass some tough mental and physical tests, and in the end, only one team will have the right to enter Olmec?s temple, but first they have to cross the moat, and here's how they're gonna have to do it today.

Halfway across the moat is a large net, and a vine before you. You are going to reach out for the vine and use it to swing across and hang on to the net. Then, you'll climb over and drop down into the water, and swim to the shore. Then your partner will do the same. When you're done, run over and hit the gong! (Kirk hits the Red Jaguras' gong) The first four teams to hit their gongs go on to the next round...are you ready?

Teams: Yeeaaahhh!!!!

Kirk: Olmec are you ready?

Olmec: Oh yeah!

Kirk: All right, teams - on your marks, get set... GO!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: That's it! We've got our four teams! Going on to the Steps of Knowledge are the Red Jaguars and the Green Monkeys! And the Orange Iguanas and the Purple Parrots! Blue Barracudas and Silver Snakes gave it a great effort too. They will not be going away empty handed though, here's what we have for them:

Kirk: As we continue our quest, it's now time for Olmec to tell us about the legend of the Dragon King and the Ashes. But, you'll need to pay close attention because your knowledge of the legend can bring you a step closer to the Temple.

Olmec: Long ago, during the times of Ancient China was a great and powerful, but cruel emperor called Qin Shihuangdi, otherwise known as the Dragon King. He was known as Shihuangdi becuase that meant "first ruler" in Chinese, and he was exactly that. However, he was mean to his people and had anyone that tried to go against him executed.

Chinese Man: Your highness, I think your ways are a little too harsh.

Dragon King: You mean you're against me?!

Chinese Man: No, your highness, I mea....

Dragon King: Enough already! Have this man killed!

Olmec: He was brutal in his ways and got rid of any traces of democracy at all. More evil things that he did was the burning of all books. He did not want anyone to become smarter than him by studying, so he ordered writings to be destroyed. Legend has it, that mysteriously after the ashes were cooled, they were stolen and no one has ever found them...until now! Your quest is to search for them and bring them back here.

Kirk: Thank you Olmec,. But tell us: where are these ashes?

(Camera shows the ashes, and zooms out to show their location)

Olmec: The Ashes of the Chinese Books can be found in the Sacred Safari.

Kirk: Okay! Teams, you are standing on the Steps of Knowledge. In a minute, Olmec will ask you a question about the legend you just heard. If you think you know the answer, stomp down on the ancient marking in front of you. If you're first, your step will light up.

(Orange stomps down first)

Then you're gonna answer the question. If you?re right, you?ll move down to the next level. If you?re wrong or run out of time, I?m going to give the other teams a chance to answer. The first two teams to make it to the bottom level will be one step closer to Olmec's Temple. Olmec, we are now ready for your first question.

1. The Dragon King ruled during the times of...
Ancient China
The Middle Ages
The 17th Century

2. The Dragon King did not believe in what kind of goverment?
Democracy
Communist Country
None

3. What did the Dragon King do to the people that did not listen to him?
He threw them in jail
He made them starve for a week
He executed them

4. Another evil thing that the Dragon King did was....
He destroyed all other civilizations
He burned all books
He started war with all other civilizations

5. Why did the Dragon King burn books?
So no one could be smarter than him
So that he did not have to build more libraries
He did not like to read

6. According to the legend, the ashes...
Disappeared
Were Stolen
Were put into the Dragon King's bedroom

7. The Dragon King was also known as Shihuangdi because...
He was the first ruler
He was an evil ruler
He was a bad ruler

Kirk: That's it! These two teams are going the Temple Games! And they are the Orange Iguanas and the Purple Parrots! The Red Jaguars and the Green Monkeys gave it a great effort, and they are not going home empty handed. We got a cool prize for both of them, and here it is.

(Prizes are announced)

Kirk: These two teams will play for the right to enter Olmec's Temple, and they're gonna do it right after this!

(Pendant Splits)

Kirk: Welcome back to Legends! Now the glory goes to the fastest and the strongest. But before we get started, let's get to know our team players. On the Orange Iguanas, we have Bill. He likes to play the drums and listening to rock and rap music. And his partner Melody also likes to listen to music and wants to become an Olympic swimmer! Let's hear it for the Orange Iguanas!

(Applause)

Kirk: And on the Purple Parrots we have Mitch. He likes to play basketball and wants to join the NBA when he's older. And his partner Christina likes to watch and play some baseball and wants to become a singer. Let's hear it for the Purple Parrots!

(Applause)

Kirk: Alright now, get ready for our games over there. (points). Now this is what's going to happen: in the temple games, teams are competing to win Pendants of Life. (Kirk holds up a pendant). They need those pendants to protect themselves from the dreaded temple guards as they make their way through the temple. There are three temple games. And this is temple game number one:

The Dragon King did many evil things, and one of them was execution. Now, we don't want to give you guys the idea that killing's good, but we are going to simulate Shihuangdi's ways now. When I say go, you're going to load up your catapult with a ball and shoot it at the four statues in front of you. The first team that knocks down all the statues, or the team that has knocked down more statues at the end of 60 seconds...wins!

Oh! I think we have a lot of convicts today! Let's put sixty seconds on the clock!

(Clock bangs down)

Kirk: On your marks, get set, go!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: Okay, now, stop firing! Let's see. The Orange Iguanas managed to knock down three statues. The Purple Parrots knocked over three too, so it's a tie! So that means they both get the half pendant! The next game is also worth a half pendant, and here it is!

The Dragon King's people had to bring the books to be destroyed, and there were a lot of books to be brought to the fire! Now when I say go, you have to run out to the platform and grab a pile of books at the end,  but beware of the swinging boulder! If it hits you on the way back, you'll need to drop whatever books you have and go again. Then put the books in the baskets to be "destroyed". The team with more books at the end of sixty seconds wins!

Alright, let's put sixty seconds on the clock.

(Clock bangs down)

Kirk: On your marks, get set, GO!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: Stop bringing the books! That's enough! Okay...come on over! Okay, let's count up a little. Let's see, the Orange Iguanas got three, six, nine, ten books! And the Purple Parrots got...three, six nine books! So that means Orange gets the half pendant! The next game is worth a full pendant, and here it is:

The books were of course not burned altogether, but in groups. So now we will simulate this in this next game. When I say go, load up your catapult with a ball and fire it to your partner. Then she will place it on the marking that says "Group One". Then you'll climb up and do it for all the other three ones. The first team to "burn" all of the groups, or the team that's further along at the end of 60 seconds wins!

Kirk: Alright, let's put sixty seconds on the clock, please!

(Clock Bangs Down)

Kirk: Some library shelves will be quite empty soon! On your marks, get set, GO!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: Let's see, the Orange Iguanas got up to Group Two, but the Purple Parrots got  to the top, that means the Purple Parrots get the pendant! So now the Orange Iguanas have a pendant, but the Parrots have one and a half! The Purple Parrots are going to the temple!

(Cheers)

No, we haven't forgotten about you too, Orange, and you're gonna take home a cool prize:

(Prizes are announced)

The Purple Parrots are going to Olmec's temple and retrieve the Ashes, and they're gonna do it right after this!

(camera pans to a lion head in the Lion's Lair)

Kirk: Welcome back to Legends. The Purple Parrots have proven themselves worthy, and now have earned the right to enter Olmec's Temple. But before we get started, Olmec will give us some information on how to retrieve the Ashes of the Chinese Books.

Olmec: You could start by running through the Mining Chamber and climbing down into the Pit of Despair. Crawl through the pit, then race into the Chameleon Chamber. Change the color of the right chameleon and you could choose to go up the Lion's Lair, or into the Spider's Lair. If you escape, you may have a chance to enter the Sacred Safari. Find the right key to go upstairs, or plough through the wall and into the Lion Cage. Ride the cage up into the Viper's Nest and pull the snakes from the jars to open the doors to the Shrine of the Silver Monkey. Assemble the statue and you may be headed for the Vine Drop. Next, race up to the Mouth of the Jaguar. Put the fangs in the mouth and jump back into the Pit. Pass through the Room of the Three Gargoyles, race down the stairs and back through the temple gates. The choices are yours and yours alone. Good luck!

Kirk: Okay, you guys won one pendant in the temple games, and here it is. Now, who's going first?

Christina: I am!

Kirk: Okay, now, when I say go, you will race through the gates into the temple and you'll try to make your way towards the Sacred Safari. But be careful ? the Temple has many locked doors and dead ends. Also hidden in the Temple there are also Temple Guards assigned to protect three specific rooms. If you enter one of those rooms, a Temple Guard will jump out and grab you. You can trade your Pendant for an extra life and go on, but if you're caught without a Pendant, you'll be taken out of the Temple? and it'll be Mitch's  turn to enter and try his luck. If you can reach the ashes, all the doors of the Temple will instantly unlock, and the Temple Guards will vanish. You?ll have three minutes, and for your efforts you will both be handsomely rewarded? and here's how!

(Prizes announced)

Kirk: Okay. Christina, let's get in position! Put your mouthpieces! Let's set the clock for three minutes....

(Clock bangs down)

Kirk: On your marks, get set, GOO!!!

(Christina runs into the Mining Chamber and climbs to the second Pit door. It opens and she jumps into the Pit of Despair with 2:49 left)

(She then opens up the door to the Mouth of the Jaguar and enters it with 2:35 left, but is caught by a temple guard)

(She completes the Jaguar's objective and races down into the Vine Drop with 2:21 left)

(She tries one of the vines, but loses hope and enters the Shrine of the Silver Monkey and completes it with 1:45 left)

(The door to the Lion Cage opens and she jumps down after climbing about 3/4 of the rungs downards with 1:32 left)

(She then busts through the wall but has a little trouble finding the ash pot, but grabs it with 1:25 left!)

(She races along the bottom, through the Spider's Lair and crawls through the pit with 0:47 left)

(She has a bit of a problem climbing the Mining Chamber again, so she climbs up to the Room of Three Gargoyles with 0:32 left)

(She runs through the Gargoyle room and races through the gates for a solo run with 0:23 left!)

Kirk: She did it! She did it! It's here, the ashes! She did it all by her self! Oh! Congratulations! This is unbelievable, but it's true, and you better believ it! I'd love to stay, but I've gotta go, check us out next time for another great Legend of the Hidden Temple: Wild Jungle style! Buh-bye!

(Credits scroll as the camera pans to the open door between the Lion's Lair and the Vine Drop)

Olmec: Hmmmmmm....

(Stone Stanley logo)

Artifact Name: The Ashes of the Chinese Books
Location: The Sacred Safari
Season: 1
Layout: 2
Result: Won!
Time Remaining: 0:23

Diagram:

Summary:

Christina wasn't the fastest player in the history of Wild Jungle, but she did set one milestone: she completed Wild Jungle's first solo temple run! Even though she was a little slow, she remained calm when she met the temple guard, one thing that most players lack. They only needed one pendant when she completed the top row till the Shrine where she climbed down 3/4 of the Lion Cage ladder and jumped down and busted through the wall. She then grabbed the pot of ashes and raced through the bottom floor a little slower than she ran through the temple. She had a little problem in the Mining Chamber, so she climbed up into the Room of the Three Gargoyles and raced through the gates for a victory with over 20 seconds left!

Um, not to be too harsh, but I notice 2 mistakes in your fanfic:

1. Incorrect Final Pendant score for the Temple Games. The Purple Parrots (having tied the 1st temple game and won the 3rd temple game) should've beaten the Orange Iguanas (who tied the 1st temple game and won the 2nd temple game) WITHOUT A TIEBREAKER!!! The score should've been Orange Iguanas 1, Purple Parrots 1.5!!!

2. Incorrect Placement of the blue Temple Guard square in your Temple diagram. It should be at the top of the Center Column (where the Mouth of the Jaguar is).

No, you're not too harsh. Actually, I really appreciate your observance.

1. Fixed it. I was tired and just typed in the fic on Saturday and was tired so I rushed through it before taking a rest.

2. I'll make the changes on Friday--I'm busy tomorrow and now, I'm just skimming through threads right now.

Cheers!
