Was the door to the Mandarin Hand from the Storeroom open after Shem was done in that room? I couldn't tell. If so, Shem may have even been able to get the earring out in time.
I don't think it is possible to tell, but I feel that Shem was a smart enough player that he would have checked that door first before going into the Observatory. But who knows?

*waits for more posts about how Shem was such an idiot for using a ladder to go down, then jump a box*

Dude, that would've saved like 2 seconds. It was even that important. Shem was fast, Shem was smart, Shem was one of the best players, end of story.

I like how the Orange Iguanas are being good sports about the tiebreaker & the Silver Snakes aren't like celebrating so much, the Orange Iguanas get pissed. Also, after the tiebreaker (when the Silver Snakes just found out they got it right, after they high five, well high ten), Shem rubs Kirk's hair. Sorry, that just struck me as pretty weird, but not as much as Missy & John made it to second base!

Wow, the episodes were similar. Same teams in Steps of Knowledge, same room location, same layout (basically, besides Temple Guard 2), girls go in first, Orange Iguanas in both Temple Games, cool stuff.

There have been worse moves than Shem wasting 2 seconds climbing down a ladder.

Like the pair of people in The Golden Cricket Cage of Khan.

What ever happened to Renegade? He hasn't uploaded any temple runs onto his site for a couple weeks now, and it's where I watch the temple runs.

2 more rather disappointing runs today.  Although, to be fair, the artifact in the first episode was pretty big, so they might not have had a chance to make it out anyway.

I think he's gonna be offline because of his job or something like that.

Please, The Much-Heralded Helmet was easily the bigest artifact that the show had seen and she made it out. The Printing Plate was like half the size of the helmet.
