The Severed Head of Elvarg the Dragon
« on: May 28, 2008, 11:53:04 AM »
We zoom in to a jungle that appears to be covered in a slightly volcanic ground. Soon we see Olmec, who is a bit more red than usual.)
OLMEC: Legends of the Hidden Temple! With your guide, Kirk Fogg! And here he is now!
(Kirk comes in from a pretend volcano.)
KIRK: Thank you! Nice to see you. Thank you Olmec. Welcome to Legends of the Hidden Temple. The rooms are filled with lost treasures that are protected by mysterious Mayan temple guards. Only Olmec knows the legend behind each of the treasures in his temple. Which one are we going to hear about today?
OLMEC: The Legend of the Severed Head of Elvarg the Dragon.
KIRK: Oh, the Severed Head of Elvarg the Dragon. Well one of our six teams will have a chance to retrieve the Severed Head. Will it be the Red Jaguars, the Blue Barracudas, the Green Monkeys, the Orange Iguanas, the Purple Parrots, or the Silver Snakes? They?re going to have to pass some tough physical and mental tests, but in the end, only one team will have the right to enter Olmec?s temple, but first they have to cross the moat, and Olmec?s going to tell us how they will do it today.
OLMEC: Before you stands five ancient stalagmites. When Kirk gives the signal, you must jump across the stalagmites to the other side. Once you?re at the other side, your partner must try and make it to the other side. If one of you falls in the moat, the one trying to get across the stalagmites must go back and start again. Once both of you are at the other side, run over and hit the gong.
(Kirk hits the Silver Snakes? gong as a demonstration.)
OLMEC: The first four teams to hit their gongs will go onto the next round!
KIRK: Okay teams, are you ready?
TEAMS: YEAHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
KIRK: And Olmec, are you ready?
OLMEC: Let?s rock and roll!
KIRK: Okay, teams! On your mark, get set, go!
(All the teams start going across the stalagmites.)
KIRK: There they go, across the stalagmites!
(The Silver Snakes? second player is already going across the stalagmites.)
KIRK: Wow, the Silver Snakes are fast today!
(The Silver Snakes have already rung their gong.)
KIRK: WOW!
(The Green Monkeys and the Blue Barracudas hit their gongs.)
KIRK: Everybody?s fast today!
(The Purple Parrots ring their gong.)
KIRK: That?s it! Going onto the Steps of Knowledge are the Blue Barracudas! And the Green Monkeys! And the Purple Parrots! And the Silver Snakes! The Red Jaguars and the Orange Iguanas did a great job also, they?re not going home empty-handed, here?s what they?ve won!

KIRK: As the quest continues, it?s now time for Olmec to tell us about the Severed Head of Elvarg the Dragon. But before we get started, pay attention, because your knowledge of the legend could bring you one step closer to Olmec?s temple.
OLMEC: One of the greatest dragons in the land of Gielinor was Elvarg. She was the ruler of Crandor until a mighty warrior by the name of John slayed the dragon. To start his quest once he had completed enough tasks for other people he entered the Champions? Guild and asked the Guildmaster about the legendary rune platebody.
JOHN: Do you know anything about rune platebodies?
GUILDMASTER: Why yes! To wear it you must have completed quests fit for champions given out by Oziach in Edgeville.
OLMEC: So John went to Edgeville and asked Oziach if he could sell him a rune platebody. Oziach agreed, but only if he slayed the mighty dragon of Crandor, Elvarg.
JOHN: Could you sell me a rune platebody?
OZIACH: Only if you can slay the mighty dragon of Crandor!
OLMEC: Oziach said he needed three things: 1. An anti-dragon shield to protect from the dragon?s mighty firebreath, 2. The map to Crandor, and 3. A boat to get to Crandor. He also said that the map was split into three pieces. The first piece was in Melzar?s Maze. The second piece was in the Dwarven Mine. And the third piece was in the Port Sarim jail. He said that he could get an anti-dragon shield from Duke Horacio in Lumbridge Castle. He also said that he could get a ship from Klarense in Port Sarim. So John got all the materials he needed and eventually made it to Crandor. He climbed up the volcano and went inside. He eventually made it to Elvarg?s lair.
ELVARG: RRRROOOOOAAAAAARRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!
OLMEC: John got out his trusty rune scimitar blade and slashed at the dragon. It was a tough battle, but in the end, John emerged the victor. He beheaded the dragon and brought the head back to Oziach, who then sold him a rune platebody. The Severed Head eventually made its way to the temple!
KIRK: Thanks Olmec, so where is the head?
OLMEC: The Severed Head of Elvarg the Dragon can be found in the Haunted Graveyard!
KIRK: Okay teams, you are now standing on the steps of knowledge. In a minute, Olmec will ask you several questions about today?s legend. If you think you know the answer, stomp down on the ancient marking in front of you. Try stomping on it!
(The Purple Parrots stomp down on their marking.)
KIRK: Okay, Purple Parrots, since you rang in first, you would be able to answer. If you?re right, you move down a step. If you?re wrong or run out if time, I?m going to give the other teams a chance to answer. The first two teams to answer three questions correctly and make it to the bottom step will be one step closer to Olmec?s temple. Olmec, we are now ready for question one.
OLMEC: Was Elvarg a demon, a dragon, or a dagannoth?
(Silver Snakes ring in.)
SNAKES: A dragon?
OLMEC: That is correct.
(They move down a step.)
OLMEC: Was island did Elvarg rule? Karamja, Entrana, or Crandor?
(Blue Barracudas ring in.)
BARRACUDAS: Crandor?
OLMEC: That is correct.
(They move down a step.)
OLMEC: What was the legendary platebody that John was able to wear if he slayed Elvarg? An adamant platebody, a rune platebody, or a dragon platebody?
(Purple Parrots ring in.)
PARROTS: A rune platebody?
OLMEC: That is correct.
(They move down a step.)
OLMEC: What was the name of the guild that John entered? The Legends? Guild, the Heroes? Guild, or the Champions? Guild?
(Green Monkeys ring in.)
MONKEYS: The Champions? Guild?
OLMEC: That is correct.
(They move down a step.)
OLMEC: Who is the maker of rune platebodies? The Guildmaster, Oziach, or Duke Horacio?
(Silver Snakes ring in.)
SNAKES: Oziach?
OLMEC: That is correct.
(They move down a step.)
OLMEC: What was the name of the shield that protected John against Elvarg?s firebreath? The anti-Elvarg shield, the anti-dragon shield, or the anti-rune shield?
(Silver Snakes ring in.)
SNAKES: The anti-dragon shield?
OLMEC: That is correct.
KIRK: The Silver Snakes are going onto the Temple Games! Next question, Olmec.
OLMEC: Was the map of Crandor split into 2 pieces, 3 pieces, or 100 pieces?
(Purple Parrots ring in.)
PARROTS: 3 pieces?
OLMEC: That is correct.
(They move down a step.)
OLMEC: Which of these locations was NOT a place where one of the map pieces was hidden? Melzar?s Maze, the Dwarven Mine, or the Crafting Guild?
(Purple Parrots ring in.)
PARROTS: The Crafting Guild?
OLMEC: That is correct.
KIRK: The Purple Parrots and the Silver Snakes are going on to the Temple Games! The Blue Barracudas and the Green Monkeys also did a great job, they?re gonna win a very great prize.
DEE: It?s a swimming pool! Enjoy swimming in our inflatable swimming pool, made by none other than Nickelodeon!
KIRK: These two teams will fight for the right to enter Olmec?s temple! And they?ll do it right after THIS!

KIRK: Welcome back to Legends. Now the glory goes to the fastest and the strongest. But before we get started, let?s find out a little about our teams. On the Silver Snakes, we have Jarred, at age 11! He likes to juggle balls and go to the zoo. And we have Kyra, at age 13. She likes karate and swimming. Let?s hear it for the Silver Snakes! And on the Purple Parrots, we have Karle, at age 13. He likes to play basketball and explore old ruins. And we have Hayli, at age 12. She likes to watch TV and play baseball. Let?s hear it for the Purple Parrots! These two teams are competing for pendants of life. They?re going to need those pendants to protect themselves from the dreaded temple guards as they make their way through Olmec?s temple. There are three temple games. Olmec, tell us about the first one.
OLMEC: To enter the Champions? Guild, John needed to help other people with stuff.
Now you?ll help other people with stuff. You?ll be helping six of our crew members. Each person will help three of our crew members. When Kirk gives the signal, Kyra and Hayli will head towards the crew members and they well tell them what to retrieve from the maze. The players will dash into the maze searching for the object the crew members told them to retrieve. Each crew member will ask for a different object. Once you have found the object, you must bring it back to the crew member who asked for it. The first person to help all three of their crew members, or the person who has helped the most crew members at the end of 60 seconds wins.
KIRK: Okay, teams! On your mark, get set, go!
(The Silver Snakes help all of their crew members with 1 second left.)
KIRK: Okay, this ? pendant goes to the Silver Snakes. Olmec, tell us about the next temple game.
OLMEC: Oziach was the maker of rune platebodies. Now you will make a rune platebody. When Kirk gives the signal, Jarred and Karle will grab a hammer and hammer bars into a part of the rune platebody. They will then place that part of the rune platebody on the wall. The first person to correctly place all three parts of their rune platebody on the wall, or the person who has the most parts of their rune platebody on the wall at the end of 60 seconds wins.
KIRK: Okay, teams! On your mark, get set, go!
(The Purple Parrots have completed their rune platebody with 1 second left.)
KIRK: Okay, this ? pendant goes to the Purple Parrots. Now let?s move on to the third and final game.
OLMEC: When John defeated Elvarg, he severed her head and brought the head to Oziach. Now you will be taking the severed heads of various animals. When Kirk gives the signal, you and your partner will go around this pendulum-thing, grabbing a severed head each time you get to the side opposite of the bucket. Once you reach the bucket, put the severed head inside. The team that has all of their severed heads in the bucket, or the team that has the most severed heads in their bucket by the end of 60 seconds wins.
KIRK: Okay, teams! On your mark, get set, go!
(The Silver Snakes have 7 severed heads inside their bucket when time ran out, while the Purple Parrots had 5.)
KIRK: Oh, time?s up! The Silver Snakes got 7 heads into the bucket, the Purple Parrots got 5, the Silver Snakes get the full pendant, the Silver Snakes are going to the temple!
The Purple Parrots came so close, so they deserve a valuable prize.
DEE: They?ve won an iPhone! Talk to your friends, call people, even play games on the new Apple iPhone!
KIRK: These muscular Silver Snakes are gonna see if they can retrieve the Severed Head of Elvarg the Dragon and they?re gonna do it right after this!

KIRK: Welcome back to Legends. The Silver Snakes have proven themselves worthy enough to enter Olmec?s temple. But before we get started, would you give the Silver Snakes any clues on how to retrieve the Severed Head of Elvarg the Dragon?

OLMEC: You could start by heading up into the Room of the Sacred Towers. Find the right combination by observing the towers and you may be headed into the Lava Pit! Break open the lava slabs and search for the actuator. Place it on the correct door and you may enter the Haunted Graveyard, where you could grab the Severed Head of Elvarg the Dragon! Rip the tombstones out of the ground and place them in their correct holes to gain entry to the Artist?s Studio! Paint the picture using your team?s color and enter the Math Room. Solve the five sacred math problems to activate the powers of the five magical crystals which will open the door to the Shriiine of the Siillver Moonkkeey! Assemble the statue to gain entry to the Communication System! Connect the telephones to their closest holes and climb down into the Devil?s Lair! Attach the correct pair of horns to the devil and bust through the rock wall into the Blacksmith?s Workshop! Smith an item and place it on the anvil, but be careful! One of the items could be possessed by the spirit of a temple guard! Then you might gain entry to the Deserted Island! Break all of the palm trees on the island to unlock the door to the Log Cabin! Fix the holes in the walls of the cabin by finding pieces of wood on the ground. Then, race through the pit, climb through the Volcano, race down the stairs and back through the temple gate! The choices are yours and yours alone! You won 1 ? pendants in the Temple Games. Who?s going first?
JARRED: I am!
OLMEC: Very well, Jarred! When Kirk gives the signal, you?ll enter the temple and make your way towards the Severed Head of Elvarg the Dragon. Hidden inside the temple are temple guards assigned to protect three specific rooms. You can trade your pendant for an extra life and go on, but if you?re caught without a pendant, you?ll be taken out of the temple and it will be James?s turn to try his luck. Hidden inside the temple is a ? Pendant. If you find it, you get an extra life. If you can reach the artifact, all the doors in the temple will instantly unlock, and the temple guards will vanish. Return to the gates with the Severed Head of Elvarg the Dragon within three minutes, and you will both be handsomely rewarded. And here?s how!
DEE: For just getting into the temple, you?re both going to get a bendy curly straw! It?s bendy, it?s curly, it?s a bendy curly straw! Grab the Severed Head within 3 minutes and you?re also going to get a pair of Moon Shoes! Jump up and down in these shoes, act like you?re on the moon! Moon Shoes, by Nickelodeon! If you can bring the Severed Head out of the temple before your 3 minutes is up, you?ll both be going to Miami! Enjoy beaches, water, even pools in fabulous Miami, Florida!
KIRK: All right, Miami! Let?s see if we can get them there. Let?s put 3 minutes on the clock. And Olmec, lower your gate please.
OLMEC: Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
KIRK: Okay, teams! On your mark, get set, go!
(Jarred enters the temple via the Room of the Sacred Towers, where a Temple Guard awaits.)
KIRK: Oh, Temple Guard right at the start! Give him the pendant! He has to find the combination!
(He finds the combination and enters the Lava Pit with 2:41 remaining.)
KIRK: He?s in the Lava Pit! Some people never make it out of the Lava Pit!
(He finds the actuator and tries it on the door to the Log Cabin, but it doesn?t open. He climbs up and tries it on the door to the Artist?s Studio. The door opens, and he enters the Artist?s Studio with 2:16 remaining.)
KIRK: He?s into the Paint Room! He has to find the silver paint here and paint the picture!
(He paints the picture silver and heads down into the Log Cabin with 1:59 remaining.)
KIRK: He?s into the Pilgrim Cabin Room! He has to find the wooden pieces and fix up the log cabin!
(He fixes up the log cabin and enters the Deserted Island with 1:42 remaining.)
KIRK: He?s in the easiest room of the temple! Break down the palm trees!
(He breaks down all 10 palm trees and enters the Blacksmith?s Workshop with 1:30 remaining.)
KIRK: Will he try his luck here? Or will he bust through the wall for the longer route?
(He hammers a bar into a shield and places it on the anvil; it?s the wrong item, and it?s also possessed by a temple spirit!)
KIRK: Oh, temple spirit! That?s a tough room!
(Kyra enters the temple via the Room of the Sacred Towers and enters the Lava Pit with 1:15 remaining.)
KIRK: Back into the Lava Pit!
(She follows Jarred?s route and eventually reaches the Blacksmith?s Workshop with 57 seconds remaining. She then busts through the rock wall into the Devil?s Lair.)
KIRK: She?s in the Devil?s Lair! She?s gonna have to find the right pair of horns and place it on the devil!
(She puts the right pair of horns onto the devil and climbs up into the Communication System with 34 seconds remaining. She grabs the half pendant on top of the main phone.)
KIRK: She?s got the half pendant! Now she has to connect the phones to the holes in this room!
(She connects the phones to the holes with 26 seconds remaining, but the door to the Shrine doesn?t open. She makes her way back to the Blacksmith?s Workshop with 17 seconds remaining.)
KIRK: Back in the Workshop? She?ll have to put the correct item on the anvil!
(She hammers a bar into a sword and places it onto the anvil, and it?s the correct item! She climbs up the ladder into the Shrine of the Silver Monkey, but we?re out of time!)
KIRK: OH! SO CLOSE! They were only two rooms away! You guys rocked, you still get the bendy curly straws, we?ll see you next time on another Legends of the Hidden Temple! Bye bye!

Fan Summary:

Season: 5
Layout: karmew32
Name of Artifact: The Severed Head of Elvarg the Dragon
Result: Failed acquisition
Time left: N/A
Team: Silver Snakes
Pendants won: 1 ?
Location of Artifact: The Haunted Graveyard
Temple Diagram:

Temple Run Summary: The reason that this team lost is that they made mistakes that made them get caught by temple guards. Jarred was pretty quick throughout the temple, and he even used the actuator on the door to the Log Cabin, the door that most contestants in my layout use the actuator on. Other mistakes include entering via the Room of the Sacred Towers, where there was a temple guard, instead of the Volcano, and putting a temple spirit-possessed item on the anvil in the Blacksmith?s Workshop. That room always seems to hide a temple guard. If it weren?t for these mistakes, this probably could?ve been a solo win for Jarred.

Not bad, I'd work a little on the dialouge though, as my English teacher once said (move beyond using the word "stuff") but she's nuts anyway.

As far as the plot goes, at least, great work, it felt like an actuall episode of Legends.
Crazy, but that's how it goes.

Yeah!!! And you even had the prerequisite number of Fogg-ups in your fic, which made it sound even more authentic!!! Interesting Layout too!!! This one gets a 9.7 in my book. Not a win, but an EXCITING loss nonetheless.
