Author's Note: This is one of the episodes in my independent project.  If you have any complaints, first thing to do is to go see the episode directory here:
Legends: The Rediscovery

Episode 82px]

The camera maneuvers through a thick rainforest to stop in front of an ancient temple.  A giant stone head next to the gate of the temple begins to speak:
"LEGENDS OF THE HIDDEN TEMPLE! With your guide, Kirk Fogg! And here he is NOW!"

On this final word, Kirk appears from behind the Temple Guard door in the Dungeon and runs straight out into the foreground of the stage to greet the crowd. "Thank you! Thank you very much! Nice to see you! Nice to see you, Olmec! Welcome to Legends of the Hidden Temple.  The rooms are filled with lost treasures that are protected by mysterious Mayan Temple Guards.  Only Olmec knows the legend behind each of the treasures in his temple.  Which legend are we gonna hear about today?"

Olmec replies:
"The Legend of the Burnt Treasures of ?neas."

"Oh, the Burned Treasure Chest of ?neas!" Kirk says in response. "Well, it's the Tournament of Champions, and one of these four returning teams will have a chance to retrieve the Treasure Chest, so let's get to know them.  On the Red Jaguars?"

The camera cuts to a bust shot of the Red Jaguars? a tall boy with bushy dark hair and brown eyes, and a slightly shorter girl with long, straight brown hair and green eyes? atop the Steps of Knowledge, then segues to a short video montage of various shots through the episode the two players were from, while the theme music plays and the players talk over it.
?I?m Autumn Robinson, and I?m twelve years old,? says the girl; the clip played is of her crossing the Moat by walking on a lower rope and hanging onto a higher one.  As the clip is played, her full name appears in a red version of the credits font at the bottom of the screen.
?I?m Jackie Pedrosa, and I?m fourteen,? says the boy, who is shown stepping off of the ropes and running over to hit his team?s gong at the end of the Moat.  His name appears at the bottom of the screen as well.
?I?m really into rock climbing, I play some baseball?? Autumn laughs a little over a picture of her climbing the wall in the Great Chasm with 2:35 of the Temple Run remaining.
?I?m on my middle school?s basketball team,? Jackie explains; the clip is of him running on the wheel with the show?s insignia in his individual Temple Game.
?I think we did pretty good,? Autumn comments over a clip of her hanging onto the mechanical horse in her individual game.
?Our episode was ?The Dragon-Headed Medallion of Vlad Dracula,? ? says Jackie; a reveal of the artifact in the Dark Overlook is made.
?The legend was so creepy!? Autumn laughs over a clip of her answering one of the questions on the Steps of Knowledge. ?I don?t know how I paid attention enough we made it.?
?We both studied hard, we made it through the games,? Jackie recounts, crawling out to grab one of the torture devices in the third Temple Game.
?Yeah, we did great,? says Autumn, shown meeting her first Temple Guard in the Forbidden Fountain with 1:48 remaining.  The clip then segues to her being taken out in the Junction of the Secret Shafts with 1:29 on the clock. ?I know I made it pretty far in there.?
?And then I just had to get the Medallion and get out,? Jackie states; the clip is of him grabbing the Dragon-Headed Medallion with 43 seconds to go.  It segues to him running down from the Room of Temple Gongs and making it back through the gate with fourteen seconds left. ?Winning was awesome, but I?m pretty stoked they let us come back in.  I?m ready to win it again!? After a few seconds of the post-Temple Run celebration, the camera segues back from the montage to the bust shot of the Red Jaguars at the top of the Steps.
?All right, let?s hear it for the Red Jaguars!? Kirk shouts, and the audience briefly cheers and applauds for Jackie and Autumn. ?And now the Blue Barracudas??

Another video montage occurs after a bust shot of the Blue Barracudas? a brown-haired boy with brown eyes and a slightly taller girl with straight brown hair in a ponytail and hazel eyes.  This time, the rule-explanation theme is used for background music.
?My name is Brett Pauley, and I?m thirteen years old,? says the boy; the clip played is of him emerging from a tunnel of inner tubes suspended above the Moat, while his name appears at the bottom of the screen in a blue version of the credits font.
?I?m Mandy McCarthy, and I?m fourteen,? the girl states over a shot of her making it out of the tunnel and running over to hit her team?s gong as her name appears onscreen.
?I do a lot of swimming, I collect pencils? I?m pretty good at science,? Brett explains over a shot of him answering a question correctly on the Steps of Knowledge.
?I like to read, I used to play tennis? I tied my school record for the 50-yard dash,? says Mandy, showing jumping up to collect coins off a ceiling in her individual Temple Game.
?Our episode was ?The Cork of Robert Hooke,? ? Brett tells as a reveal of the artifact in the Junction of the Secret Shafts is made.
?It was close! We almost lost at the games,? Mandy explains as the tiebreaker round versus the Purple Parrots is shown.
?Yeah, but Mandy got us through the tiebreaker and through the Temple and we?re here,? Brett answers as Mandy rings in first at the tiebreaker and answers correctly.  The clip segues to her running up into the Temple.
?What really helped was I saw the show before I came here,? Mandy says as the clip switches to her starting to put the silver monkey together with about 2:13 on the clock. ?I think I would?ve messed up the monkey if I didn?t.? She laughs.
?Yeah, and they never took her out.  No Temple Guards,? Brett says as Mandy reaches the Cork with 1:34 remaining. ?It was awesome.?
?Brett got us through the first rounds, though,? Mandy reminds the audience as the clip of her getting out through the Crevasse and exiting through the Temple Gate with 1:02 on the clock is played. ?We both did a lot to get here.? After a few seconds of the post-Temple Run celebration, the camera segues back to the bust shot of the Blue Barracudas.
?All right, that was the Blue Barracudas! Let?s hear it for them!? Kirk shouts, and the audience cheers for a smiling Brett and Mandy. ?Now, let?s get to meet the Green Monkeys??

The montage for the Green Monkeys? a black boy with short hair and a white girl with curly brown hair and brown eyes, both of average height? uses the main theme of the show as background music.
?I?m Melissa Toumani, and I?m twelve years old,? the girl says; the clip shown is of her crawling out of a dragon-shaped tunnel which serves as a bridge across the Moat, while her name appears onscreen, typed in a teal version of the credits font.
?I?m Daron Foster and I?m thirteen,? says the boy, shown answering the final question on the Steps of Knowledge correctly and moving down to the bottom step along with Melissa as his name appears onscreen.
?Our episode was ?The Secret Treasure of? Phoolan Devi,? ? Melissa says, slowing down to pronounce the name in the title as the artifact is revealed in the Junction of the Secret Shafts.
?I play basketball, wanna make a lot of money as a lawyer? Pretty good with puzzles,? Daron explains over a clip of him moving along through the vertical maze in his individual Temple Game.
?I like to dance? do a lot of ballet and pointe? I used to sing, and I collect a lot of pens,? Melissa says while a clip plays of her making her way through a bamboo forest with a pole behind her head in her Temple Game.
?We tied with the Red Jaguars, they were nice, really cool about it,? Daron mentions as the tiebreaker is shown.
?The Temple Guards really scared me, though,? Melissa laughs as a clip of her meeting the first Temple Guard in the Crystal Cave with 2:26 left segues to her meeting the second Temple Guard in the Dragon?s Lair with 2:09 remaining, prompting Daron to run into the Temple.
?We won because of the air-conditioning tunnels,? laughs Daron; the clip played is of him getting into the ventilation shaft in the Dark Overlook with 39 seconds to go and sliding down into the Junction of the Secret Shafts, then grabbing the Secret Treasure there. ?I mean, she and I did a lot of work, but if that was locked??
?I?m still glad we made it though,? Melissa says as the camera switches to Daron crawling out of the Crevasse with six seconds left and making a run for the gate, finally emerging from the Temple with just one second remaining. ?We both worked really hard and I?m glad we got to come back.? Again, the camera fades back to the present, changing from the middle of the post-Temple Run celebration to the bust shot of the Green Monkeys.
?Let?s hear it for the Green Monkeys!? shouts Kirk, and the audience cheers momentarily for Melissa and Daron. ?And now for the Purple Parrots??

The Purple Parrots are made up of a blue-eyed boy with straight brown hair, and an brown-eyed girl with her slightly wavy dark hair up in a ponytail.  The one Temple Game theme used only in the first season of the original show is used for background music in the Purple Parrots? montage.
?I?m Curtis Galloway, and I?m thirteen years old,? the boy says over a clip of him crossing the Moat on the swinging steps; his full name appears onscreen in a purple version of the credits font.
?I?m Kendra Romanescu, and I?m thirteen,? says the girl, with a trace of a Southern accent; her name appears onscreen as she makes it to the other side of the Moat and hits the team?s gong.
?Our episode was ?Rolled Amunsten?s Final Telegram,? ? Curtis explains, mispronouncing the name ?Roald Amundsen? as a reveal of the artifact in the Junction of the Secret Shafts is made.
?It was the first episode,? Kendra adds over a clip of her answering the last correct answer to move on to the Temple Games from the Steps of Knowledge.
?I?m pretty big on football and basketball? really like the Lakers and the Vikings? and I wanna make movies,? Curtis explains over a shot of him swinging across the Great Chasm in the Temple with 1:43 on the clock.
?I was born in Canada? love to write, and I love horses,? Kendra says over a clip of her going around to collect water bottles in the rotating lever in her individual Temple Game. ?I think I wanna be a vet.?
?I felt kinda pressured since we were the first team in the Temple,? Curtis tells the audience over a shot of Kendra meeting her first Temple Guard in the Chamber of the Sacred Markers with 2:26 on the clock.
? ?Cause we had to show everyone after us how it?s done?? Kendra asks as she?s captured in the Tomb of the Headless Kings after putting the skull on the correct king with 2:03 left.
?Yeah, but we did good,? Curtis comments over a shot of him grabbing the Final Telegram with 27 seconds remaining.
?And we both had our own ideas of what we were gonna do,? Kendra laughs over a shot of Curtis emerging from the Ledges with time ticking down. ?Good thing we got it and we?re here!? Curtis makes it through the Temple Gate with seven seconds left; the post-run celebration last for a few seconds before a segue back to the present.
?All right, there?s our four teams! Let?s hear it for the Purple Parrots!? Kirk announces, and the audience cheers and applauds for Curtis and Kendra, who smile throughout the applause.

"All right, now that we know our teams," says Kirk, "it's time for Olmec to tell us about the Burnt Treasures of ?neas.  Pay attention, teams, because your knowledge of the Legend can bring you a step closer to the Temple and the final round of the Tournament."
Olmec begins to tell the legend:
"One of the biggest wars in ancient times was the Trojan War.  When the beautiful Helen was stolen from Greece by the Trojan prince Paris, Greeks attacked the city of Troy to get her back.  War raged for several years, with both sides losing legendary heroes, but suddenly the Greeks called a truce.  They rolled a giant wooden horse into the city as a peace offering, but it wasn't really a gift horse.  When night fell and the Trojans were asleep, the Greek fighters hiding inside the horse climbed out and set fire to the great city.  Many Trojan lives were lost that night, but a hero named ?neas was able to save the rest.
" 'We must get out of here at once! Come on, people, follow me! This way!'
"?neas lost his wife to the fire, but as Troy was burning and the Greeks won the war, he evacuated the city with his father, his son, some servants and friends and whatever they could carry with them.  They wandered looking for a new place to live, and along the way, ?neas met Dido, the Queen of Carthage, and the two fell in love.
" 'So glad you could drop in!' she said to him. 'Please stay as long as you like.'
" 'I'd love to, milady.'
"However, the gods told ?neas to keep going to find a new home, and eventually he and the others met a priestess who had a prediction for them.
" 'You're ?neas, aren't you? I've had a vision about you? Your descendants will found a great city if you settle down in Italy.'
"Taking the priestess's advice, ?neas and his people stopped in Italy.  He married Lavinia, the daughter of a local king, and their children several generations later founded the great city of Rome.  But Troy had fallen to the Greeks, and the treasures ?neas left behind were burned and later ended up in the Temple.  You must find the Burnt Treasures of ?neas and bring them back here."

"Thank you Olmec," Kirk says after Olmec finishes telling the legend. "So tell us, where are these Burnt Treasures?"
Olmec replies:
"The Burnt Treasures of ?neas can be found in the Lost Treasury." The camera fades to a small, scorched treasure chest on the altar in the Lost Treasury, then segues back to Kirk.

"Teams," Kirk begins, walking down the steps, "as you know, in a minute, Olmec will ask you a question.  If you think you know the answer, stomp down on that ancient marking in front of you.  If you're right, you can move down to the next level, but if you're wrong or run out of time, I'll give the other teams a chance.  The first two teams to make it down to the bottom level will be in the top eight, one step closer to the final round in the Tournament and a second shot in Olmec's Temple.  Let's get started! Olmec, first question."

Olmec begins:
?Were ?neas and his people escaping the: Civil War, Trojan War or???
Autumn hits the marking first: ?Trojan War.?
?Correct.?
?Nice job, Red Jaguars, step down,? says Kirk, and the Red Jaguars move down to the second step. ?Next question.?
Olmec asks:
?Which of these women was the Trojan War fought over: Cleopatra???
Autumn cuts Olmec off again: ?Helen of Troy.?
?That is correct.?
?Whoo! Just like that, the Red Jaguars are one step away from the Temple Games,? Kirk declares as the Red Jaguars move down to the third level. ?Olmec, next question.?
Olmec then asks:
?Were the Trojans fighting against the: French, Greeks or Moors??
Curtis rings in: ?Greece???
?Correct,? says Olmec in response.
?Nice job, Purple Parrots, step down!? Kirk encourages, and the Purple Parrots move down to the second step. ?Next question, Olmec.?
Olmec asks:
?Was ?neas advised to settle down in: Greece, Spain or???
Mandy buzzes in: ?Italy.?
?Correct.?
?Blue Barracudas, step down!? Kirk shouts, and the Blue Barracudas walk down onto the second level as well. ?Next question.?
Olmec now asks:
?The Greeks used a trick to overcome the Trojans in the war.  Did they hide all their soldiers in a giant: Wooden horse, Golden stag or Cast-iron???
Another stomp by Mandy interrupts Olmec: ?A giant wooden horse.?
?That is correct,? replies Olmec.
?Blue Barracudas now just one step away from the Temple Games!? Kirk exclaims as the Blue Barracudas move down a second time. ?Green Monkeys, there?s still plenty of time.  Next question, Olmec.?
Olmec asks:
?During his journey out of Troy, ?neas stopped at Carthage.  Which of these modern countries was Carthage in: Tunisia, Saudi Arabia or Macedonia??
As Olmec provides the third choice, Curtis rings in: ?Tunisia???
?That is correct,? says Olmec.
?It?s a three-way tie on the second-to-last step!? Kirk announces as the Purple Parrots walk down onto the penultimate step. ?This match is really heating up.  Olmec, let?s keep going.?
Olmec does so by asking:
?Was the Queen of Carthage named: Cleopatra, Bilqis or Dido??
Jackie gongs in: ?Um? Dido.?
?That is correct!? Olmec shouts, and the Red Jaguars move down onto the bottom step.
?All right, we got our first team moving on to the Temple Games!? Kirk announces as Jackie and Autumn start celebrating. ?It?s the Red Jaguars! We still need one more team, will it be the Blue Barracudas, the Green Monkeys or the Purple Parrots? Next question.?
Olmec continues:
?Which of these powerful empires did ?neas?s descendants found: The Ottoman Empire, the Roman Empire or the British Emp???
Melissa cuts Olmec off: ?Roman Empire???
?Correct.?
?Green Monkeys on the board!? Kirk announces as the Green Monkeys move down to the second step. ?Could this be a comeback? We?ll see.  Olmec, next question.?
Olmec now asks:
?Which of these modern countries was Troy located in: Romania, Turkey or Croa???
Curtis buzzes in: ?Turkey???
?THAT IS CORRECT!? bellows Olmec, and the Purple Parrots move down beside the Red Jaguars on the final step.
?We got our two teams right here!? Kirk announces, running up the middle of the bottommost step.  Once he?s behind the two teams, he turns to face the camera and the qualifying players continue to celebrate with each other. ?The Red Jaguars and the Purple Parrots! They?re in the top eight, and they?re gonna face off in the Temple Games! Blue Barracudas, Green Monkeys, you guys gave it a great effort, and we still got another great gift for you, and here?s what it is.? In addition to the prizes from their last appearances, Daron, Melissa, Brett and Mandy will each be receiving Transformers: Cybertron Optimus Prime and Megatron action figures.
The camera cuts back to Kirk and the two winning teams at the bottom of the Steps of Knowledge. ?These two teams are gonna be playing for a spot in the final round and the right to enter Olmec?s Temple again,? he says, ?right after this!? The camera zooms in on the Moat before fading to commercial.

Rediscovery EP: The Burnt Treasures of ?neas
« Reply #1 on: November 21, 2009, 10:32:05 PM »
Kirk is standing between the Red Jaguars and Purple Parrots in front of the Great Chasm. ?Welcome back to Legends!? he says. ?It?s the Tournament of Champions, and now the glory goes to the fastest and the strongest, so let?s hear it again for Jackie and Autumn of the Red Jaguars!? Jackie and Autumn high-five as the audience applauds for them. ?And Curtis and Kendra of the Purple Parrots!? Curtis and Kendra clap along with the cheering audience. ?They both made it in the top eight and they?re gonna go head-to-head for a spot in the final round right now.  You guys ready to play??
?YEAH!? the four players shout.
?All right, then go get ready for the Temple Games!? Kirk says, and the players walk offscreen in different directions. ?In the Temple Games, teams are competing to win?? he opens his pocket and pulls out a small gold medallion to show to the camera? ?these Pendants of Life.  The winning team is gonna need those Pendants to protect themselves from the dreaded Temple Guards as they make their way through Olmec's Temple.  There are three Temple Games.  Olmec, will you tell us about Temple Game #1??

Olmec begins:
?The Trojan War was a huge conflict between the Greeks and the soldiers of Troy, but in this battle? in this game, you?ll only need to take down four soldiers.  When Kirk gives the signal, lob a cannonball at one of the warriors on the wall.  Then, put another cannonball in the slingshot and shoot again.
?The first player to knock down all four soldiers? or the player that knocks over the most soldiers in 60 seconds? wins.?
?Our teams are divided and now they must conquer,? says Kirk. ?Let?s put 60 seconds on the clock.? A countdown clock appears in the bottom-right corner of the screen, and Kirk dashes off to the side to avoid being hit. ?On your mark, get set, GO!?
?Bombs away! There they go in the battle against Troy!? Kirk announces as Autumn and Curtis start shooting at the targets.  From the beginning, it seems that Curtis has a better handle on the game, which would make sense considering he manned a slingshot on his last appearance whereas Autumn didn?t.  Curtis knocks over his first target with 47 seconds remaining, while Autumn doesn?t knock any targets over until 39 seconds are left.  She then tries to knock over two targets at once, but the cannonball only gets stuck, while Curtis knocks down a second target with 31 seconds to go and then a third on the very next shot.
?Red Jaguars gotta come back, Purple might have this!? remarks Kirk as Autumn tries to knock down her second target.  She finally gets a second target with 22 seconds on the clock, but it doesn?t matter, because Curtis knocks over his last target with fourteen seconds remaining.  The clock freezes and disappears as Kirk runs back onscreen.
?All right, that?s it!? he announces, calling the players over. ?Purple Parrots got all four soldiers first, so they get the half Pendant of Life!? Kirk and Curtis high-five as the audience applauds. ?The next game is worth a half Pendant.  Olmec, tell us about it.?

Olmec continues:
?The Greek soldiers often had to march long distances to the battlefield throughout the war.  When Kirk gives the signal, climb on the wheel and adjust your weight to make the wheel spin.  When it makes one full rotation, it represents one mile marched towards Troy.  The player who marches the furthest towards Troy in 60 seconds wins.?
?Our players have a long journey ahead,? Kirk says, ?so let?s put 60 seconds on the clock.? The clock appears onscreen. ?On your mark, get set, GO!?
Jackie and Kendra take off and the wheels start rotating.  Jackie is used to the game since he played the same game in his last appearance, but Kendra is surprisingly fast.  Jackie stays on the wheel until 34 seconds are left, a few seconds after Kendra?s first spill.  They stay on the wheels for most of whatever time is left, but Jackie falls again with twelve seconds remaining, letting Kendra slip ahead in the last few seconds.  As the countdown clock hits zero, a pattern of ceiling spotlights flashes to indicate that the game is over.
?All right, time?s up!? Kirk says, running over to read the spotters? scoreboards. ?Red Jaguars got 12 miles, but Purple Parrots got 12 miles! It?s a tie? they both get a half Pendant of Life!? The audience applauds for a second. ?So it?s Purple with a full Pendant, Red with a half, but the next game is worth a full Pendant.  Olmec, tell us about Temple Game #3.?

Olmec narrates:
??neas and his people had to travel through many places before they could settle down.  On the wall above you are four of the places ?neas traveled to: ?Crete,? ?Carthage,? ?Cum?,? and ?Italy.? When Kirk gives the signal, load the slingshot and fire a ball, which your partner will catch and stick onto the first target.  Once you?ve covered a target, ?neas has gone through there, and you can climb up and try to pass by the next place.
?The first team to make it to Italy? or the team that?s further along after 60 seconds? wins!?
?This is for the final round and the Temple,? Kirk explains. ?Let?s put 60 seconds on the clock.? The countdown clock appears onscreen. ?On your mark, get set, GO!?
Autumn and Curtis stay in position at the base of the walls, right next to the first step, ?Crete,? already.  Jackie?s aim isn?t much better than Autumn?s was in the first game, but Kendra has fairly good aim, surprisingly.  She manages to shoot a ball Curtis can catch and stick on ?Crete? in only eight seconds, while the Red Jaguars cover ?Crete? two attempts later, at :47.  Compared to Curtis, Autumn is a better climber, meaning that the Purple Parrots only get in one shot rather than two before the Red Jaguars start trying to cover ?Carthage? as well.  Thanks to Kendra?s superior shooting skills, the Purple Parrots cover ?Carthage? with 38 seconds remaining, while the Red Jaguars don?t cover their second target until 34 seconds are left.  Autumn and Curtis then both climb up to ?Cum?.?
?So far this game is neck-and-neck!? Kirk remarks.  It only takes two attempts for Kendra to shoot a ball that Curtis can catch this time, so the Purple Parrots cover ?Cum?? with 27 seconds left.  The Red Jaguars, on the other hand, need four tries before they can cover the same target with nineteen seconds left. ?Purple Parrots need one more to win! Can they do it, or will the Red Jaguars jump ahead?? Both teams have some close catches, but the Red Jaguars can only try to catch once before Curtis catches the ball on his third try and sticks it on ?Italy? with ten seconds left, stopping the game.
?All right, that?s it! C?mon down, you guys!? Kirk remarks, and Autumn and Curtis descend to the floor.  Spotters undo the equipment they?re strapped in while Kirk calls Jackie and Kendra over. ?The Purple Parrots got all the way to Italy before time ended, so they get the full Pendant, giving them two? they?re going to the Temple!? The audience applauds and cheers, and Curtis and Kendra high-five a few times before being congratulated by Jackie and Autumn. ?Red Jaguars gave it a great effort too.  Here?s what we?ve got for them.? Besides the prizes from their first appearance, Autumn and Jackie will each receive a copy of the Kingdom Hearts II PlayStation 2 game.
As the camera cuts away from the consolation prize, Kirk and the Purple Parrots are in front of the equipment for the third Temple Game. ?We?ll see if the Purple Parrots can make it through Olmec?s Temple one more time and retrieve Burned Treasures of ?neas? right after this!? The camera zooms in on the Burnt Treasures in the Lost Treasury, then fades to commercial.

Rediscovery EP: The Burnt Treasures of ?neas
« Reply #2 on: November 21, 2009, 10:33:26 PM »
Kirk stands in front of the Temple's stairs to the camera-right of Curtis and Kendra. "Welcome back to Legends: The Tournament of Champions," he says to the camera before turning to the Purple Parrot. "You two have proven themselves worthy and now have earned the right to enter the Temple.  Now, you get another chance in the Temple, but you don't need to get the Burned Treasures out in three minutes to go on to the final round of the tournament.  You're already coming back for the final round just for getting here, but before we get started, Olmec's gonna give you some information to help you retrieve the Burned Treasure Chest of ?neas."
Olmec begins to give the rundown:
"You could start by climbing through the Crevasse and climbing down into the Great Chasm.  Crawl through the pit, then race into the Lost Treasury, where you can grab the Burnt Treasures of ?neas.  Put the correct artifact on the altar, and you could choose to go up into the Cathedral, or into the Labyrinth.  If you escape, you might have a chance to enter the Switch Inferno.  Hit the right actuator to go upstairs, or plow through the wall and into the Dungeon.
"Next, climb up the Pharaoh's Secret Passage into the Geographer?s Study.  Take the correct book off the bookshelf to open the door to the SHRIIIIIIIIIINE? of the Silver Monkey.  Assemble the statue, and you may be headed for the Knights' Barracks.  Place the sword in the correct sheath, and you could advance into the Laser Light Room.  Find the right combination to unleash the power of the laser, and swing on the rope back across the Great Chasm.  Then, pass through the Arctic Antechamber, race down the stairs and back through the Temple Gate.  The choices are yours and yours alone!" Olmec pauses for a second. "You won 2 Pendants in the Temple Games.  Who's going first??
"I am," says Kendra.
"Very well, Kendra!" replies Olmec as Kirk hands out the Pendants of Life. "Hidden inside the Temple are three ventilation shafts which let out in the Junction of the Secret Shafts, as well as Temple Guards assigned to protect three specific rooms.  You can trade your Pendant for an extra life and go on BUT if you're caught without a Pendant, you'll be taken out of the Temple? and it'll be Curtis's turn to enter and try his luck.  If you reach the Treasure Chest, all the doors of the Temple will instantly unlock, and the Temple Guards will vanish.  Return through the gates with the Burnt Treasures of ?neas in three minutes, and you will both be handsomely rewarded? and here's how!"
?   For just making it into the Temple, they?re both going to get a Schwinn Mesa mountain bike.
?   If they can grab the Burnt Treasure in three minutes, they?re also going to get an Ultra-Bounce trampoline provided by Bollinger.
?   And if they can get the Burnt Treasure out of the Temple before three minutes is up, they?ll both be going to Krystal Cancun! Krystal Cancun, the resort for beach lovers, with excursions to Mayan ruins.  It?s rich in history and rich in pleasure.  Krystal Cancun, for a prize package totaling $12,998!

"These Purple Parrots have been to Canada, so now let's get 'em to Mexico!" Kirk says before turning to Curtis. "So, Curtis: What's your strategy?"
"Well," he says, "we're gonna start by going up, and we're gonna keep looking for the closest door that opens until we can get into the Tomb, and get the Treasure and come back."
"All right! Well, I hope that works out and you guys get to go to Mexico," Kirk says. "Kendra, get out in front.  Put your mouthpieces in.  Lower the gate, Olmec!"
Olmec groans gutturally as he lowers the gate; the blue lights under him are turned off.
"Set the clock for three minutes." The clock appears onscreen. "On your mark, get set, GO!"

?There she goes! Up into the Temple!? Kirk announces as Kendra runs up the stairs of the Temple into the Arctic Antechamber, only to meet a?
?Agh, TEMPLE GUARD! Right off the bat!? he shouts as a Temple Guard emerges from the backdoor in the room and tries to capture Kendra. ?Give ?em the Pendant!? Kendra only takes a step back before she hands over her Pendant of Life; then, she goes to figure out the room objective (2:51). ?She?s gotta push down on the walls to open a door!? Kendra then moves around the room, pushing her way through the three breakaway ice walls.  After she breaks down the third with 2:44 remaining, the only door that opens is down into the Crevasse, so she climbs down and makes her way to the lower crawl tube.  She reaches the crawl tube fairly quickly, hits the actuator and enters the Great Chasm with 2:30 to go.
?This is tough, she knows that door?s not gonna open,? Kirk says as Kendra bypasses the Lost Treasury door and starts climbing the wall instead, ?so she?s gonna climb up and find another way! C?mon Kendra!? Kendra takes a moment to make sure she has a firm grip on each handhold or foothold before she keeps going, but she makes it onto the rock ledge with 2:12 still on the clock.  She hits the actuator for the Cathedral door and heads on in.  She finds the pieces of the stained-glass window with little trouble? the first with 2:04 left, the second with 1:59 to go and the third with 1:53 remaining? then puts them all in the window at the same time.  When the window is completed, the pattern on the walls glows violet and the sheet/door in the back of the room shoots up, revealing the ladder upwards and the second TEMPLE GUARD!
?Oh, she?s out of there! Go Curtis!? Kirk remarks, sending Curtis into the Temple with 1:47 left.  Curtis heads up the stairs and slides down into the Crevasse, then enters the Great Chasm with 1:35 to go.  He heads across to the wall, climbs, gets up on the ledge with 1:23 remaining, then enters the Cathedral.  He looks over and sees the Knights? Barracks door isn?t open, then climbs up into the Laser Light Room, setting foot in the room with 1:15 to go.
?He?s gotta make up for some lost time here!? comments Kirk as Curtis begins rotating the sections of the cylindrical part of the laser generator, trying to align the LEDs to activate the laser.  With 1:04 remaining, the column part of the generator is properly aligned and the dome emits a white light as the door into the Knights? Barracks opens, and Curtis heads down through the newly-open passageway.
?One minute, Curtis! One-minute warning!? Kirk shouts as Curtis grabs the sword from the front railing and sticks it in the leftmost sheath in the room.  It?s the correct sheath, and the door into the Shrine of the Silver Monkey opens with 56 seconds to go.  Curtis heads on, and goes to the back of the room, grabbing only the base and bringing it to the front of the room.  He puts it in place (0:48), then goes back and grabs the middle in one hand and the head? by the pole? in the other.  He gets the middle in place, then inserts the head and jams it down with forty seconds on the clock.  He heads down into the Switch Inferno after the monkey is finished, jumping down the ladder to enter the room with 35 seconds left.
?He?s gotta hit the right button to open the door!? Kirk explains, and Curtis heads over to the right wall of the room, hitting the actuators there.  The third one he hits opens the doors into the Labyrinth with 28 seconds to go, and Curtis crawls through, but right as he enters the room he?s ambushed by the last TEMPLE GUARD!
?Oh, go away Temple Guard! Give ?im the Pendant!? says Kirk, and Curtis hands over the Pendant of Life with 23 seconds left.  He then jumps off the ledge and heads around the walls, staying fairly close to the front of the room.  The result is he makes it across the room pretty quickly, hitting no dead ends and making it to the far ramp with sixteen seconds on the clock.  He heads up to the Lost Treasury door, hits the actuator and goes on into the Lost Treasury with eleven seconds remaining. ?There he?s in the room! Get the Treasure Chest!? Curtis runs to the front of the room, and with nine seconds remaining, he grabs the BURNT TREASURES!
?HE?S GOT IT! All the doors are open!? Kirk declares as the doors start to open.  With four seconds left, Curtis heads out of the Lost Treasury for the Great Chasm.  He starts to wade across the pit? but we?re out of time!
?They got it! They got the Burned Treasure Chest before time ended,? Kirk says, a smiling Kendra by his side as Curtis runs over to the foreground with the Burnt Treasures in hand, ?so they get the mountain bikes and the trampolines, and they still get to come back for the final round.  They gave it a great effort, but we?re all tired out, so check us out next time for more Legends of the Hidden Temple! Buh-bye!? Kirk, Curtis and Kendra wave to the camera, and rooms such as the Labyrinth, the Knights? Barracks and the Lost Treasury are shown as the credits roll.

Rediscovery EP: The Burnt Treasures of ?neas

Temple Run Summary
Episode 82px]

Name of Artifact: The Burnt Treasures of ?neas
Season: 2
Layout: 6 (10 overall; Tournament of Champions)
Result: Did not escape in time
Time Remaining: N/A
Team: Purple Parrots
Pendants Won: 2
Location of Artifact: The Lost Treasury

The semifinals continue, and this time the four teams were Red Jaguars from "The Dragon-Headed Medallion of Vlad Dracula," the Blue Barracudas from "The Cork of Robert Hooke," the Green Monkeys from "The Secret Treasure of Phoolan Devi" and the Purple Parrots from "Roald Amundsen's Final Telegram."

The Steps were again a fairly close round in the end, with three of the four teams making it a step away, but the Jaguars and Parrots became the two teams moving on.  Knowing the Purple Parrots' track record versus the Red Jaguars, I wasn't expecting Curtis and Kendra to go to the Temple again, but they pulled it out in the clutch and took two Pendants to the bonus round.

The Temple Run revealed Kendra's critical weakness: she wasn't the strongest climber, requiring almost twenty seconds to get out of the Great Chasm.  However, the only other time she was slower than in her first appearance was in the Cathedral (maybe she was a tad overconfident and too relaxed as a result).  She got taken out of the Cathedral after completing the objective, with 1:49 left.

Wherever Curtis made any mistakes in "Roald Amundsen's Final Telegram," he avoided them here.  He took the shortcut of starting in the Crevasse and wasn't clumsy with the monkey this time, and he seemed a little quicker.  The result was that he made it to the Burnt Treasures with nine seconds left, becoming only the second player in The Rediscovery's history to reach an artifact in the bottom room of the central shaft before time expired.  But, obviously, he didn't make it out in time.

Trivia and Records:
This was the first episode in which the Purple Parrots beat the Red Jaguars at the Temple Games rather than vice versa, and the first of only two Temple Runs to feature an artifact in the Lost Treasury (the other would be "The Heart-Shaped Locket of Elisabeth of Bavaria," the Season 3 premiere and also a Purple Parrots run).  Also, the last time Jackie and Autumn were on the show, their competition at the Temple Games was the Purple Parrots and the other two teams to make it to the Steps of Knowledge were the Blue Barracudas and Green Monkeys? the same as was the case here.  Jackie and Autumn were also the only team on this episode that didn't retrieve an artifact from the Junction of the Secret Shafts? theirs was the Dragon-Headed Medallion of Vlad Dracula, retrieved from the Dark Overlook.
