Author's Note: This is one of the episodes in my independent project.  If you have any complaints, first thing to do is to go see the episode directory here:
Legends: The Rediscovery

Episode 76px]

The camera maneuvers through a thick rainforest to stop in front of an ancient temple.  A giant stone head next to the gate of the temple begins to speak:
"LEGENDS OF THE HIDDEN TEMPLE! With your guide, Kirk Fogg! And here he is NOW!"

On this final word, Kirk appears from behind the Temple Guard door in the Dungeon and runs straight out into the foreground of the stage to greet the crowd. "Thank you! Thank you very much! Nice to see you! Nice to see you, Olmec! Welcome to Legends of the Hidden Temple.  The rooms are filled with lost treasures that are protected by mysterious Mayan Temple Guards.  Only Olmec knows the legend behind each of the treasures in his temple.  Which legend are we gonna hear about today?"

Olmec replies:
"The Legend of the Lost Love Letter of Jos?phine Bonaparte."

"Ooh, the Lost Love Letter of Jos?phine Bonaparte!" says Kirk in response. "Well, the legend is set, and one of these six teams could have a chance to retrieve the Lost Love Letter.  Will it be:
"Davis and Courtney of the Red Jaguars?" the camera pans to each team in order?
"Xavier and Leah of the Blue Barracudas,
"Brian and Stephanie of the Green Monkeys,
"Michael and Olivia of the Orange Iguanas,
"Chad and Kendra of the Purple Parrots,
"Or Corey and Summer of the Silver Snakes?"

"They'll have to pass some tough physical and mental tests," Kirk says, "and in the end, only one team will earn the right to enter Olmec's Temple.  But first, they must cross the Moat, and here's how they'll have to do it today:
"In front of each team there's three icebergs that?re floating in the Moat.  When I say go, one player from each team will run over the icebergs to get to the other side of the Moat.  Then his partner'll run across too, but if a player touches the icebergs with a part of a body other than their feet, they?ll have to go back and start all over again."
"As soon as the second player makes it onto the deck, it's his job to run over here and hit the gong." He slams down on the Red Jaguars' gong to demonstrate. "The first four teams to hit their gongs are going on to the Steps of Knowledge.  Hey teams? are you ready?"
The players all cheer and shout in response.
"Monsieur Olmec, are you ready?" asks Kirk.
"Oui oui !" Olmec replies.
Kirk gives a stereotypical French-accent laugh as a response. "All right! On your marks teams, get set, GO!"

?There they go! This one?s fast!? Kirk comments as the players head out and start to make their way across the Moat.  Only fourteen seconds have passed by the time the first team hits their gong. ?We got our first team; it?s the Orange Iguanas! There?s two? three! We need one more team!? Another gong sound is heard. ?And that?s it!?
The camera cuts to Kirk standing by the Red Jaguars, who are jumping up and down and giving each other high-fives. ?Red Jaguars pulled it out in the last second! They?ll be goin? on to the Steps of Knowledge, along with the Blue Barracudas?? the camera briefly shows each qualifying team? ?and the Green Monkeys? and the Orange Iguanas! Purple Parrots and Silver Snakes gave it a great effort too, it was a real fast match.  We?ve got a great gift for them all for playing and here?s what it is.? Chad, Kendra, Corey and Summer will each be receiving an Armitron watch.

Rediscovery EP: The Lost Love Letter of Jos?phine Bonaparte
« Reply #1 on: October 15, 2009, 05:52:46 AM »
The four teams are now at the top of the Steps of Knowledge accompanied by Kirk. "As the quest continues, it's now time for Olmec to tell us about that Lost Love Letter of Jos?phine Bonaparte, but pay attention, teams, because your knowledge of the Legend can bring you one step closer to Olmec's Temple."
Olmec begins to tell the legend:
"One of the most powerful men in history was Napol?on Bonaparte.  He was born in Italy, came to take over France as its first emperor and led plenty of campaigns to take over Europe.  Legend has it he was hoping to eventually become emperor of the entire world? but of course, every emperor needs an empress.  A women named Jos?phine de Beauharnais met him near the end of the French Revolution.
" 'Oh, monsieur ! Eet eez too frantic in zere !' she called out, running out of a crumbling prison.
" 'Ah, not to worry.  I'll protect you, mademoiselle.'
"The two ran for safety together, having fallen in love at first sight.  They eventually got married, and when at the coronation, Napol?on took the two crowns from the pope, crowned himself and then crowned Jos?phine.  Jos?phine and Napol?on loved each other very much, and sent each other love letters while Napol?on was out at war.  However, legend has it Jos?phine's love letters stopped making it to him after a while.  Napol?on thought Jos?phine didn't care about him anymore, and when he returned home, he had them divorced, and the last of the love letters she sent him showed up in the Temple.  Your quest is to find the Lost Love Letter of Jos?phine Bonaparte and bring it back here."

"Thank you Olmec," Kirk says after Olmec finishes telling the legend. "So, where is the Love Letter?"
Olmec replies:
"The Lost Love Letter of Jos?phine Bonaparte can be found in the Knights? Barracks." The camera fades to the Love Letter leaning on the sword on the railing in the Knights? Barracks, then segues back to Kirk.

"Teams," Kirk begins, walking down the steps, "you are now standing on the Steps of Knowledge.  In a minute, Olmec will ask you a question.  If you think you know the answer, I want you to stomp down on the ancient marking in front of you.  If you're right, you're gonna move down to the next level, but if you're wrong or run out of time, I'll give the other teams a chance to answer.  The first two teams to make it to the bottom level will be one step closer to Olmec's Temple.  Olmec, we're now ready for your first question."

Olmec begins:
?Was Jos?phine Bonaparte married to: Charlemagne???
A stomp by Davis interrupts Olmec: ?Napol?on.?
?Correct.?
?Nice job, Red Jaguars, step down,? says Kirk, and the Red Jaguars move down to the second step. ?Next question.?
Olmec asks:
?Was Jos?phine?s title: Queen, Princess or Empress??
As Olmec provides the third choice, Olivia rings in: ?Empress???
?Correct,? Olmec says.
?Orange Iguanas, step down!? Kirk calls, and the Orange Iguanas also move down to the second level. ?Olmec, next question.?
Olmec now asks:
?Did she rule over: England???
Courtney stomps down early: ?France.?
?That is correct,? Olmec replies.
?Red Jaguars are now just one step away from the Temple Games,? Kirk explains as the Red Jaguars move down to the third step. ?Next question, Olmec.?
Olmec?s next question is:
?According to legend, did Jos?phine and Napol?on first meet during: The French and Indian War, The French Revol???
Michael cuts Olmec off this time: ?French Revolution.?
?That is correct,? answers Olmec.
?Orange Iguanas now just one step away from the Temple Games!? Kirk announces. ?Blue Barracudas and Green Monkeys can catch up.  Olmec, next question.?
Olmec asks:
?According to our legend, did Napol?on divorce Jos?phine because: He never got her love letters, He found out she loved another man or???
Brian rings in: ?He? Her love letters never got through to him???
?Correct,? says Olmec in response.
?Green Monkeys, step down! You?re on the board!? Kirk shouts, and the Green Monkeys move down to the second level. ?Blue Barracudas can still get into this.  Olmec, next question.?
Olmec then asks:
?Was she crowned empress by: Napol?on, The pope or???
Michael stomps down and takes a second to answer: ?Uh? Napol?on???
?THAT IS CORRECT!? Olmec bellows, and the Orange Iguanas jump down onto the fourth step.
?That?s it? I mean, we got our first team! It?s the Orange Iguanas!? Kirk announces, and the players on the Orange Iguanas high-ten as the audience applauds. ?We still need one more team, but who?s it gonna be: The Green Monkeys, Blue Barracudas or Red Jaguars? Next question.?
Olmec asks:
?Was Jos?phine?s maiden name: Bourbon, De Beauharnais or Capet??
Leah gongs in: ?Uh? D. Bow-harn-nice???
There is a pause.
?Correct.?
?Blue Barracudas on the board!? Kirk announces, and the Blue Barracudas move down to the second step. ?It?s anybody?s game.  Olmec, next question.?
Olmec continues:
?Even though Napol?on ruled France, was he actually from: Russia, Germany or Italy??
After a moment, Stephanie buzzes in: ?Italy???
?That is correct,? Olmec answers.
?Green Monkeys now just one step away from the Temple Games,? says Kirk as the Green Monkeys advance to the third step. ?Next question.?
Olmec asks:
?In our legend, when Jos?phine met Napol?on, was she leaving a: Prison, Opera house or Ballroom??
Davis stomps down and guesses: ?Ballroom???
?Incorrect.?
Brian hits the marking and answers: ?Prison???
?THAT IS CORRECT!? booms Olmec?s voice, and the Green Monkeys jump down beside the Orange Iguanas on the bottommost step.
join the Green Monkeys on the bottom step.
?All right, we got our two teams!? Kirk announces, running up the middle of the bottom step to stand behind the two qualifying teams. ?The Green Monkeys and the Orange Iguanas! The rest of you come on down.? The Red Jaguars and the Blue Barracudas move in closer to Kirk. ?These guys gave it a great effort.  We got a great gift for them, here?s what they get.? Davis, Courtney, Xavier and Leah will each be receiving a $50 U.S. Savings Bond provided by Skechers footwear.
Kirk is now standing between the Green Monkeys and the Orange Iguanas at the bottom of the Steps of Knowledge. ?These guys will be playing for the right to enter Olmec?s Temple,? he says, ?and they?re gonna do it right after this!? The camera zooms in on the foam blocks on the floor of the Great Chasm, then fades to commercial.

Rediscovery EP: The Lost Love Letter of Jos?phine Bonaparte
« Reply #2 on: October 15, 2009, 05:54:34 AM »
Kirk is now standing in front of the Mine Shaft between the last two teams. ?Welcome back to Legends,? he says. ?Now the glory goes to the fastest and the strongest, but before we get started, I wanna talk to our team players.? He turns camera-left to talk to a short, redheaded boy. ?On the Green Monkeys, we have Brian.  How old are you??
?Eleven,? replies Brian.
?And I understand you?re all about football,? Kirk says, referring to the text on the index card in his hand. ?Tell me about that.?
?Well,? he explains, ?there wasn?t a lot of choice on what to watch on TV since my dad and my two older brothers watched a lot of football, but I?m pretty into it now and now I play it too.?
?Do you have a favorite team??
?Well,? Brian answers, ?I watch so much I don?t have just one favorite team, but? um, my top three are the Miami Dolphins? um, the Minnesota Vikings and the Indianapolis Colts.?
?Ah, nice,? comments Kirk.  He goes to talk to the girl on the far left of the screen, a kid with freckles, wavy blond hair and glasses. ?Also on the Green Monkeys, we have Stephanie.  How old are you??
?Twelve,? she answers.
?And I hear you?re into ice-skating,? Kirk reads. ?Tell me about that.?
?Well,? explains Stephanie, ?I go to the skating rinks back at home a lot, and I loved watching the Winter Olympics in Torino last year? that?s part of what got me into it.?
?You think you might end up in the Olympics some day?? Kirk asks.
?Maybe.? Stephanie smiles.
?This is a sporty team here,? Kirk comments. ?Let?s hear it for the Green Monkeys!? The audience applauds as Kirk turns to the right side of the screen to talk to the short-haired, brown-eyed boy on the other team. ?And on the Orange Iguanas, we have Michael.  How old are you??
?Twelve,? he answers.
?Now I understand you play basketball and you want to join the Army,? Kirk says. ?Tell me about that.?
?Well,? explains Michael, ?It seems pretty cool to? do that for the country, really.  I kinda wanna get high in the ranks, really, not just be a soldier.?
?Okay, cool,? Kirk says, going to talk to the black girl on the far right of the screen. ?And your partner, Olivia.  How old are you, Olivia??
?Twelve,? she says.
?Now, I hear you like to sing and you can speak French,? Kirk says, ?but I hear you also play football.  Do you watch it too??
?Um?? explains Olivia, ?I watch a little bit? I?m not too big on it, but I play with a few friends.?
?I think we have two strong teams today,? Kirk comments. ?Let?s hear it for the Orange Iguanas!? The audience applauds again.

?So, are you guys ready to play?? asks Kirk.
?YEAH!? The players shout in unison.
?All right, go get ready for the Temple Games!? Kirk says, and the players walk offscreen. ?Let me just pull out the ol? Pendant of Life here.? He opens a pouch and pulls out a small gold medallion to show to the camera. ?The winning team?s gonna need those Pendants to protect themselves from the dreaded Temple Guards as they make their way through Olmec?s Temple.  There are three Temple Games.  Olmec, tell us about the first one.?

Olmec begins:
?According to legend, some of Jos?phine Bonaparte?s love letters never made it to Napol?on when he was at war.  In this game, you must find four of Napol?on?s letters to Jos?phine.  When Kirk gives the signal, fling yourself onto the spider web in front of you and climb up to one of the cubbyholes and break it open.  If the cubbyhole contains a letter, come back down and place it in your bin.
?The first player to retrieve all four of Napol?on?s love letters? or the player that?s found the most in 60 seconds? wins.?
?All?s fair in love, but for our teams, this means war,? Kirk says. ?Let?s put 60 seconds on the clock.? A countdown clock appears in the bottom-right corner of the screen. ?On your mark, get set, GO!?
Both Brian and Michael throw themselves onto their webs and find their ways to the holes they think contain love letters.  Unfortunately, neither player successfully finds a love letter until Michael reaches the center cubbyhole with 44 seconds remaining, bringing the letter down a few seconds later.  Brian finds the first for the Green Monkeys in the leftmost cubbyhole a few seconds later, though.  However, both players move very slowly and are indecisive.  They additionally both have bad luck; they both score a second time, but with only about fifteen seconds left.  Although Brian finds a third love letter, as he?s pulling it out of the cubbyhole, time runs out, further indicated by a pattern of ceiling spotlights flashing.  Kirk reappears onscreen to declare the winner.
?Okay, that?s it!? Kirk says, pulling over the team bins and peering inside as the boys walk over. ?It looks like both players got two letters, so both players get the half Pendant of Life!? The audience applauds briefly. ?The next game is worth a half Pendant.  Olmec, tell us about it.?

Olmec continues:
?Like many good leaders, Jos?phine?s husband Napol?on had to be able to ride a horse skillfully and not just pose on one.  In this game, you must prove your horsemanship.  Hold on tight, because when Kirk gives the signal, the horse below you will begin to spin.
?The player who?s still on after 60 seconds? or the player who stays on the longest? wiiins!?
?It?s gonna be a bumpy ride,? Kirk comments, standing in front of the horse machine. ?Let?s put 60 seconds on the clock.? The clock appears in the corner of the screen as Kirk runs off to the right side of the screen. ?On your mark, get set, GO!?
Stephanie and Olivia both hang on for dear life as the horse begins to spin clockwise, and neither moves a muscle for a while.  After every fifteen seconds or so, the horse spins in the opposite direction.  This catches players off-guard, but both of them do a very good job of hanging on.  After the third change of direction, both players begin to lose their grip, but neither actually lets go of the horse before time expires.  The ceiling spotlights flash again, and Kirk runs over to announce the final outcome of the game.
?Time?s up!? says Kirk. ?Both girls managed to stay on, so they both get a half a Pendant again!? The audience applauds again. ?So it?s now a Pendant apiece, and we go to the third and final game, it?s worth a full Pendant.  Olmec, tell us.?

Olmec narrates:
?Under Napol?on and Jos?phine, France won a lot of battles and conquered much of Europe.  On the wall above you are the names of four big battles Napol?on won: ?Ulm,? ?Trafalgar,? ?Austerlitz? and ?Jena.? When Kirk gives the signal, load the slingshot and fire a ball.  Then, your partner will catch the ball and stick it onto the first target.  Once you?ve covered a target, that battle is won, and you can climb up and try to cover the next target.
?The team that wins all four of their battles? or the team that?s further along after 60 seconds? wins.?
?This is for the Temple,? Kirk explains. ?Let?s put 60 seconds on the clock.? The clock appears onscreen. ?On your mark, get set, GO!?
The girls try to fire balls that their partners can catch; Stephanie starts out with much better aim than Olivia, since the Green Monkeys win Ulm with fifty seconds left while the Orange Iguanas aren?t even coming close to scoring for the first time.  The Iguanas win Ulm with forty seconds left and then follow the Monkeys up to Trafalgar.  However, the Green Monkeys win Trafalgar with 38 seconds left, maintaining a lead.  The Orange Iguanas cover ?Trafalgar? with 27 seconds to go, but the Green Monkeys are always one step ahead, covering ?Austerlitz? with 24 seconds on the clock.
?Green Monkeys only need one more to win!? remarks Kirk as Brian climbs up towards ?Jena.? The Orange Iguanas play catch-up and scramble to cover ?Austerlitz? as fast as they can, doing so with twelve seconds left.  However, it?s only moments later that Brian catches a ball that Stephanie fired at him and sticks it on ?Jena,? ending the game.
?All right, that?s it! We have a winner!? Kirk announces, running onscreen and gesturing for the boys to climb back down the walls and for the girls to walk over. ?The Green Monkeys got all the way to Jenna with about ten seconds left, so they get the half Pendant? I mean, the full Pendant? giving them two, the Orange Iguanas had one.  Green Monkeys are going to the Temple!? Brian and Stephanie jump up and down excitedly while Kirk goes to talk with the Orange Iguanas. ?It was a close match.  The Orange Iguanas aren?t going away empty-handed.  We got a nice gift for them for playing and here?s what it is.? Michael and Olivia will each be receiving a copy of the Kingdom Hearts II PlayStation 2 game.
The camera cuts back to Kirk with the Green Monkeys among the equipment for the third Temple Game. ?We?ll see if the Green Monkeys can make it through Olmec?s Temple and retrieve the Lost Love Letter of Jos?phine Bonaparte? right after this!? The camera zooms in on the Lost Love Letter in the Knights? Barracks before fading to commercial.

Rediscovery EP: The Lost Love Letter of Jos?phine Bonaparte
« Reply #3 on: October 15, 2009, 05:56:09 AM »
Kirk stands in front of the Temple's stairs next to Brian and Stephanie. "Welcome back to Legends!" he says to the camera. "The Green Monkeys have proven themselves worthy and have earned the right to enter Olmec's Temple.  But first, Olmec's gonna give them some information to help them retrieve the Lost Love Letter of Jos?phine Bonaparte."
Olmec begins to give the rundown:
?You could start by climbing through the Crevasse and climbing down into the Great Chasm.  Crawl through the pit, then race into the Crystal Cave.  Pull down the correct icicle, and you could choose to go up into the Cathedral, or into the Junction of the Secret Shafts.  If you escape, you might have a chance to enter the Switch Inferno.  Hit the right actuator to go upstairs, or plow through the wall and into the Dungeon.
?There, climb up the Pharaoh?s Secret Passage into the Geographer?s Study.  Take the correct book off the bookshelf to open the door to the SHRIIIIIIIIINE of the Silver Mooooonkey! Assemble the statue there, and you may be headed toward the Knights? Barracks, where you can grab the Lost Love Letter of Jos?phine Bonaparte.  Place the sword in the correct sheath, and you could enter the Laser Light Room.  Find the right combination to unleash the power of the laser, and swing on the rope back across the Great Chasm.  Then, pass through the Arctic Antechamber, race down the stairs and back through the Temple Gate.  The choices are yours and yours alone!? Olmec pauses for a second here. "You won 2 Pendants in the Temple Games.  Who's going first??
"I am," says Brian.
"Very well, Brian!" replies Olmec as Kirk hands out the Pendants of Life. "When Kirk gives the signal, you'll race through the gates into the Temple and make your way toward the Lovest? Lost Love Letter.  Hidden inside the Temple are three ventilation shafts that let out in the Junction of the Secret Shafts, as well as Temple Guards assigned to protect three specific rooms.  You can trade your Pendant for an extra life and go on BUT if you're caught without a Pendant, you'll be taken out of the Temple? and then it'll be Stephanie's turn to enter and try her luck.  If you can reach the Lost Love Letter, all the doors of the Temple will instantly unlock, and the Temple Guards will vanish.  Return through the gates with the Lost Love Letter of Jos?phine Bonaparte in three minutes, and you will both be handsomely rewarded? and here's how!"
?   For just getting into the Temple, they?re both going to get a skateboard provided by Vans.
?   If they can grab the Love Letter in three minutes, they?re both going to get a $500 Toys ?R? Us gift card.
?   And if they can get the Lost Love Letter out of the Temple before 3 minutes is up, they?ll both be going to the Bahamas! The Bahamas Princess Resort, on exciting Grand Bahama Island, offering tennis, swimming and international entertainment.  Fun for the whole family! Bahamas Princess Resort, for a prize package totaling $11,426!

"Let?s see if we can get these Green Monkeys to the Bahamas!" Kirk says before turning to Brian. "Brian, let?s put you out in front.  Both of you, put your mouthpieces in.  Olmec, lower the gate!"
Olmec groans gutturally as he lowers the gate; the blue lights under him are turned off.
"And let?s set the clock for three minutes." The countdown clock appears onscreen. "On your mark, get set, GO!"

?There goes Brian, up into the Temple!? Kirk declares as Brian runs up the stairs of the Temple and slides down into the Crevasse.  He crawls through the ledges and makes his way down to the lower crawl tube, opening it and entering the Great Chasm with 2:42 seconds left.  He heads across the pit and hits the actuator for the Crystal Cave door, which opens.  Brian then slides into the next room, and after looking around for a second, he starts to pull down the stalactites from the ceiling using both hands.  The second stalactite he pulls down? the one behind the ladder? opens the doors, and Brian doesn?t touch the stalactite left of the ladder.  He starts to climb up the ladder to the Cathedral, but halfway up, he decides to get off and go into the Junction of the Secret Shafts instead (2:14).  He heads across the room and tries both crawl tubes; the one further back in the room opens, and he uses it to go into the Switch Inferno (2:05).
?He?s making great time, he?s only a few rooms away from the Lost Love Letter of Jos?phine Bonaparte!? Kirk remarks as Brian looks around in the Switch Inferno. ?He?s gotta open the door with the right switch!? Brian starts to press the actuators on the walls; he begins with the four actuators on the wall facing the Junction, then goes to the back wall and tries the four actuators there.  When nothing works there, he also tries the door facing the Dungeon, but none of those four actuators open the doors leading upwards either.  Brian starts to look around again. ?He can always bust through the wall!? Kirk remarks, and with 1:39 remaining, Brian heads through the breakaway stone wall into the Dungeon, but before he can get on any of the ladders, out jumps the first TEMPLE GUARD!
?Temple Guard!? Kirk shouts as Brain stumbles and falls backward in shock. ?That one got him scramblin?, but now he?s gotta give up his Pendant to go on!? Brian hands over his Pendant of Life to the Temple Guard, and after the guard leaves with 1:28 on the clock, Brian spends a few moments looking around before he composes himself. ?He can go up, but which up?s he gonna choose?? Brian climbs up the ladder in the Dungeon to try the door leading directly into the Shrine of the Silver Monkey, but the door doesn?t open when he hits the actuator for the door with 1:20 left.  He heads back down, then uses the other ladder in the room to help himself get onto the Pharaoh?s Secret Passage.  He gets on the slide and trudges his way up the slippery helix into the Geographer?s Study, setting foot in the room with 1:04 to go.
?He?s just two rooms away! This is gonna be close, with a minute left!? Kirk remarks.
?Go Brian!? Stephanie cheers. ?You can do it!?
Brian goes to the back of the room, reaching for the three large atlases marked ?ACTUATOR? and pulling each down off the shelf.  After he pulls the third one off the shelf with 55 seconds left, the door into the Shrine of the Silver Monkey opens, and Brian moves on.
?Into the Shriiiiiine of the SIIIIIIIL-ver Monkey!? comments Kirk as Brian starts to scramble for the parts of the statue.  He grabs the base and brings that to the front of the room.  He has a little trouble getting the base in properly, but once that?s done he then grabs the middle and head.  Brian places those without any problems, and the door leading into the Knights? Barracks opens with 37 seconds remaining.  He then heads into the next room and grabs the LOST LOVE LETTER!
?He?s got it! All the doors are open!? Kirk announces as Brian picks up the Lost Love Letter with 35 seconds left, and Stephanie screams in excitement. ?Just gotta get out across the Pit of Despair!? Brian runs through the Laser Light Room and reaches the Great Chasm with 26 seconds remaining.  He reaches out for the rope, swings across and lands on the other ledge.  He then passes through the Arctic Antechamber, goes down the stairs and makes it out through the gates for the win with 12 seconds left!
?He did it!? shouts Kirk as Brian reappears through the gate, slowing down once he?s made it out.  Stephanie jumps into Brian?s arms; once she lets go, Kirk holds up Brian?s hand with the Lost Love Letter in it. ?They did it? Brian the football star? Brian did it all, that was amazing! Stephanie just had to cheer them on, and they won.  They get it all? they get the skateboards, the ?R? Us gift cards, the trip to Bahamas? they can skateboard in the Bahamas.  I wish we could stay, but we gotta go.  Check us out next time for more adventure and another great Legend of the Hidden Temple! Buh-bye!? The camera pans across the Moat and shows rooms like the Great Chasm and Geographer?s Study as the credits roll.

All the victories in Layout IX depended on luck to some degree.  Usually, however, the players were lucky because the path to the artifact was very short.  On the other hand, this run was lucky because of the placement of the Temple Guards.  Solo victories for a team that had won two Pendants of Life in the Temple Games are extremely rare, but it happened here because the producers were hoping to trip up players going for a more direct path to the Lost Love Letter.  The two Temple Guards that Brian didn't encounter were most likely in the Arctic Antechamber and the Cathedral, the latter of which Brian almost entered.

Luckily, Brian changed his mind and just kept going across the bottom floor.  He got no slack from the producers in terms of the path he had to take; the only option was going around the horn, as only the Geographer's Study allowed access to the Shrine of the Silver Monkey.  After almost two and a half minutes in the Temple, he grabbed the Lost Love Letter, and made it out to record an impressive solo win with twelve seconds on the clock.

Trivia and Records:
This was the first time in The Rediscovery that a team with two Pendants of Life pulled off a successful solo run (this only happened twice in the original show? "The Belly Button of Buddha" and "The Milk Bucket of Freyd?s").  Brian tied for the most objectives completed in a successful solo run; Priscilla from "The Cracked Teacup of Elizabeth Cady Stanton" also cleared eight rooms before reaching her artifact.
