Rediscovery EP: The Lost Crown of Mbwila

Author's Note: This is one of the episodes in my independent project.  If you have any complaints, first thing to do is to go see the episode directory here:
Legends: The Rediscovery

Episode 75px]

The camera maneuvers through a thick rainforest to stop in front of an ancient temple.  A giant stone head next to the gate of the temple begins to speak:
"LEGENDS OF THE HIDDEN TEMPLE! With your guide, Kirk Fogg! And here he is NOW!"

On this final word, Kirk appears from behind the Temple Guard door in the Dungeon and runs straight out into the foreground of the stage to greet the crowd. "Thank you! Thank you very much! Nice to see you! Nice to see you, Olmec! Welcome to Legends of the Hidden Temple.  The rooms are filled with lost treasures that are protected by mysterious Mayan Temple Guards.  Only Olmec knows the legend behind each of the treasures in his temple.  Which legend are we gonna hear about today?"

Olmec replies:
"The Legend of the Lost Crown of Mbwila."

"Ooh, the Lost Crown of Em-wee-la! Well, the legend is set," Kirk says in response, "and one of these six teams could have a chance to retrieve the Lost Crown.  Will it be:
"Landon and Renee of the Red Jaguars?" the camera pans to each team in order?
"Kenneth and Sara of the Blue Barracudas,
"Devon and Claire of the Green Monkeys,
"Danny and Christian of the Orange Iguanas,
"Chris and Diana of the Purple Parrots,
"Or Garret and Leah of the Silver Snakes?"

"They'll have to pass many tough physical and mental tests," Kirk says, "and in the end, only one team will earn the right to enter Olmec's Temple.  But first, they must cross the Moat, and here's how they'll do it today:
"In front of each team there's two bars that go across the Moat.  When I say go, one player from each team will stand on each of the bars.  They have to face each other, lock hands and walk sideways to get to the other side of the Moat.  But if either of them falls of or their hands end up loose, they?ll have to go back and start again."
"As soon as both players make it on the deck, they?ll have to run over here and hit the gong." He slams down on the Red Jaguars' gong to demonstrate. "The first four teams to hit their gongs will go on to the next round.  Are you ready?"
The players all cheer and shout in response.
"They?re ready, Olmec, are you?" Kirk asks.
"Let?s get this party started!" Olmec replies.
"All right!" Kirk says in response. "Teams: On your marks, get set, GO!"

The team players get on the balance beams and either lock hands or press palms to each other? depending on which is more comfortable for them? and start to walk sideways across the Moat. ?These teams are going fast, but it?s tough!? says Kirk. ?Each partner has to mirror each other to go across, and they can?t take their hands apart or they?ll fall off.? The Blue Barracudas develop a significant lead; as a result, they become the first team to get across and ring the gong. ?We got our first team! Need three more, and here they come now!? For the rest of the teams, the match is a close one; the Silver Snakes lock in second and the Green Monkeys and Purple Parrots tie for third, narrowly beating out the Orange Iguanas.
?And that?s it!? Kirk announces, and the camera cuts to him standing with the Blue Barracudas in front of their gong. ?The Blue Barracudas did a great job getting across that Moat.  They?re going on to the Steps of Knowledge, along with the Green Monkeys?? the camera briefly shows each qualifying team? ?and the Purple Parrots? and the Silver Snakes! The Red Jaguars and Orange Iguanas gave it a great effort but came up a little bit short.  They?re not going away empty-handed, we got a great gift for them for playing and here?s what it is.? Landon, Renee, Danny and Christian will each be receiving a copy of Zoom on DVD.

Rediscovery EP: The Lost Crown of Mbwila
« Reply #1 on: October 12, 2009, 05:08:31 PM »
The four teams are now at the top of the Steps of Knowledge accompanied by Kirk. "As the quest continues, it's now time for Olmec to tell us about the Lost Crown of Mm-wheel-uh.  But first, pay attention teams, because your knowledge of the Legend can bring you one step closer to Olmec's Temple."
Olmec begins to tell the legend:
"Deep in the heart of Africa, the Portuguese had a plan to take over a section of the southwest they called Angola.  They were planning to unite several territories; including Ndongo, ruled by Queen Nzinga; Kongo, ruled by Sir Antonio; and the much smaller Mbwila, ruled by Lady Izabel.
"Lady Izabel reigned over Mbwila from the capital up in the mountains, so while Queen Nzinga and Sir Antonio both tried to claim the land, neither could attack it.  When Portugal tried to take over the area, Lady Izabel kept switching her support between Kongo and Ndongo, but it was Mbwila itself that was the target.
" 'What can I do?' Izabel shouted. 'Tony and ?Zinga are probably both mad at me for switching sides so much, and I can?t take on Portugal myself.'
"But according to legend, Sir Antonio and Kongo came to protect Mbwila from Portugal.  Lady Izabel and her people were able to escape as the battle started up, but the Kongolese lost and Sir Antonio was killed in battle.  His head was lopped off and buried, and the scepter was sent to Portugal as a trophy, but the crown disappeared.  Your goal is to find the Lost Crown of Mbwila and bring it back here."

"Thank you Olmec," Kirk says after Olmec finishes telling the legend. "Olmec, where is the Lost Crown?"
Olmec replies:
"The Lost Crown of Mbwila can be found in the Junction of the Secret Shafts." The camera zooms in on the Lost Crown sitting on top of the outside wall of the Junction of the Secret Shafts, then fades back to Kirk.

"All right," Kirk comments, walking down the steps. "Teams, you're now standing on the Steps of Knowledge, and in a minute, Olmec will ask you a question.  If you think you know the answer, I want you to stomp down on that ancient marking in front of you.  If you're right, you're gonna move down to the next level, but if you're wrong or run out of time, I'll give the other teams a chance to answer.  The first two teams to make it to the bottom step will be one step closer to Olmec's Temple.  Let?s get started! Olmec, first question."

Olmec begins:
?Was Mbwila ruled by: Queen Isabella, Lady Izabel or Queen Elizabeth??
Garret hits the marking first: ?Lady Izabel???
?Correct.?
?Nice job, Silver Snakes, step down,? says Kirk, and the Silver Snakes move down to the second level. ?Next question.?
Olmec asks:
?Which of these countries tried to take over Mbwila: Spain, England or Portugal??
Diana rings in: ?Portugal???
?Correct,? says Olmec in response.
?Purple Parrots, nice job, step down!? comments Kirk, and the Purple Parrots join the Silver Snakes on the second level. ?Next question, Olmec.?
Olmec now asks:
?Did the Lost Crown of Mbwila belong to: Lady Izabel, Sir Antonio or Queen Nzinga??
Chris stomps down and guesses: ?Sir Antonio???
?That is correct,? Olmec replies.
?Purple Parrots already just one step away from the Temple Games!? remarks Kirk, encouraging the Purple Parrots to move down to the third level. ?Olmec, next question.?
Olmec asks:
?Which of these regions did Sir Antonio rule: Kongo, Zanzibar or Za?re??
As Olmec is giving the third choice, Devon buzzes in: ?Kongo???
?Correct,? answers Olmec.
?Green Monkeys, step down!? encourages Kirk, and the Green Monkeys move down to the second step. ?Blue Barracudas can still get into this; this match is heating up.  Next question.?
Olmec then asks:
?In battle, was Sir Antonio: Victorious, Killed???
A stomp from Garret interrupts Olmec: ?He? he died in battle.?
?That is correct.?
?Silver Snakes now just one step away from the Temple Games!? Kirk says as the Silver Snakes move down to the third level. ?We?re still looking for two teams.  Next question.?
Olmec asks:
?Was Queen Izabel notorious for: Changing alliances, Conquering cities or St???
Kenneth cuts Olmec off this time: ?Um? She changed sides a lot???
?Correct.?
?Blue Barracudas, step down! You?re on the board!? Kirk shouts, and the Blue Barracudas move down to the second step as the audience bursts into applause. ?Next question, Olmec!?
Olmec continues:
?According to our legend, which of these other regions bordered Mbwila: Axum, Ndongo or Mauretania??
Kenneth gongs in again: ?Endongo???
?That is correct,? Olmec says in response.
?Blue Barracudas making a comeback,? Kirk says as the Barracudas step down again, ?and now they?re just one step away from the Temple Games! Green Monkeys can still catch up.  Next question.?
Olmec asks:
?Was Ndongo governed by: Queen Cleopatra, Queen Nzinga or The Queen of Sheba??
Kenneth hits the marking first again: ?Queen Enzinga.?
?THAT IS CORRECT!? shouts Olmec, and the Blue Barracudas jump down onto the bottom level.
?We got our first team going on to the Temple Games, and it?s the Blue Barracudas! Great comeback!? Kirk remarks. ?We still need one more team; who?s it gonna be? Let?s keep going, Olmec.?
Olmec?s next question is:
?According to legend, Portugal wanted to unite Mbwila, Kongo, Ndongo and other small territories into one colony??
Chris steps in: ?Make them into one country.?
?That is not one of the three choices,? says Olmec. ?Would this colony be known as: Angola, Tanzania or Madagascar??
Garret rings in: ?Angola.?
?THAT IS CORRECT!? Olmec bellows, and the Silver Snakes hop down beside the Blue Barracudas on the final step.  Kirk slips in behind the teams as the players begin to congratulate one another.
?We got our two teams right here,? Kirk announces, ?and they are the Silver Snakes and the Blue Barracudas! The rest of you, come on down here.? The Purple Parrots and Green Monkeys move over to where Kirk is. ?You guys came up a little bit short, but you?re not going away empty-handed.  Here?s what we got for you.? Devon, Claire, Chris and Diana will each be receiving Transformers: Cybertron Optimus Prime and Megatron action figures.

Rediscovery EP: The Lost Crown of Mbwila
« Reply #2 on: October 12, 2009, 05:11:49 PM »
Kirk is standing between the two teams and in front of the Crevasse. ?Welcome back to Legends,? he says. ?Now of course the glory goes to the fastest and the strongest, so let?s talk to our team players.? He turns to interview the brown-haired boy with freckles on his stage-left. ?On the Blue Barracudas, we have Kenneth.  How old are you??
?Fourteen,? he replies.
?I understand you play football but you want to be a bass player for a band,? says Kirk. ?Tell me about that.?
?Well,? explains Kenneth, ?I?ve been playing for a year now, and I got into it because I wanted to be in a band but everyone plays guitar so? yeah.?
?Ah, very good,? Kirk says, going to interview the blonde girl stage-left of Kenneth. ?And your partner here is Sara.  How old are you??
?Twelve,? she replies.
?And I understand you?re a bit of an artist,? Kirk says. ?Tell me about that.?
?Well? I?ve been drawing for a few years, but I just got into digital art,? Sara explains. ?I?m? trying to learn how to draw on the computer.?
?But you?re not drawing on the computer screen,? says Kirk.
?No,? laughs Sara.
?This is one creative team,? Kirk comments. ?Let?s hear it for the Blue Barracudas!? Kenneth and Sara high-ten as the audience applauds.
?And on the Silver Snakes?? Kirk comments as he turns to interview the blond, brown-eyed boy on the Silver Snakes? ?we have Garret.  How old are you??
?Thirteen,? he replies.
?And I understand you like fixing up cars with your dad,? Kirk reads off the index card in his hand. ?Tell me about that.?
?Um?? Garret explains, ?I?ve been learning about that ever since I was little? My dad?s a mechanic, and I think I wanna be one too.?
?Oh, nice.  A family business, huh?? Kirk comments as he goes to talk to the dirty-blonde girl on the far right of the screen. ?And also on the Silver Snakes, we have Leah.  How old are you??
?Thirteen,? she answers.
?And I understand you like to ride horses.  Tell me about that.?
?Um,? Leah begins, ?I?ve been riding horses since I was little, and it?s? um? always fun.  I love horses.?
?That?s a good reason to like it,? says Kirk. ?Let?s hear it for the Silver Snakes!? Leah and Garret applaud along with the audience.

?You guys ready to play?? asks Kirk.
?YEAH!? The players shout as a reply.
?All right! Go get ready for the Temple Games,? he says.  Garret and Kenneth walk offscreen in one direction, Sara and Leah in another. ?In the Temple Games, each team will be competing for these?" he opens a pouch and pulls out a small gold medallion to show to the camera? "Pendants of Life.  The winning team will need those Pendants to protect themselves from the dreaded Temple Guards as they make their way through the Temple.  There are three Temple Games.  Olmec, tell us about Temple Game #1.?

Olmec begins:
?Sir Antonio and the Kongolese troops had to march to Mbwila to defend the area against the Portuguese.  When Kirk gives the signal, climb on the wheel and adjust your weight to make the wheel spin.  When it makes one full rotation, it means you have traveled one mile toward Mbwila.  The player who travels the most miles toward Mbwila in 60 seconds wins.?
The camera fades to Kirk in front of the giant wheels marked with the show?s insignia. ?Our players are gonna be marching in circle? hope they don?t get dizzy,? he says, gesturing to Sara and Leah, who are getting into position. ?Let?s put 60 seconds on the clock.? A clock appears in the bottom-right corner of the screen, and Kirk moves off to the side. ?On your mark, get set, GO!?
Sara and Leah start running on the wheels when Kirk says ?Go.? Sara is faster from the start, and Leah falls off the wheel for the first time with a whole 50 seconds remaining.  Sara finally falls off for the first time with 26 seconds left, allowing Leah to try to close the big gap.  After Sara gets back on her wheel, the gap in the players? scores stays pretty much the same for the rest of the game.  When the countdown clock reaches zero, a pattern of ceiling spotlights flashes to indicate that the first Temple Game is over, and Kirk runs back onscreen.
?All right, that?s it!? he announces, calling the players over. ?Great job by both players, they really stuck it out! Silver Snakes got 11 miles, but Blue Barracudas got 14, giving them the half Pendant of Life!? The audience applauds briefly. ?Silver Snakes can catch up in the next game, it?s worth a half Pendant.  Olmec, tell us about it.?

Olmec continues:
?The Battle of Mbwila pitted Sir Antonio and the Kongolese soldiers against the Portuguese.  In this game, you will only have to take down four soldiers.  When Kirk gives the signal, lob a cannonball at one of the soldiers on the wall.  Then, put another cannonball in the slingshot and shoot again.
?The first player to knock down all four soldiers? or the player that?s knocked over the most soldiers after 60 seconds? wins.?
?Our players look ready,? Kirk says, ?so let?s put 60 seconds on the clock.? The clock then appears in the corner of the screen, and Kirk steps to the side. ?On your mark, get set, GO!?
Garret knocks down his rightmost target almost immediately with a lucky shot, but after that, the game goes for a while with no one scoring.  Garret knocks down another target at the halfway mark, but Kenneth still hasn?t scored once.
?This game?s tough for those Blue Barracudas, looks like Silver Snakes might win it,? Kirk says as the second half begins.  With 24 seconds remaining, Kenneth finally knocks down his first target. ?This could be a comeback! Twenty seconds left!? With time ticking down, both players knock down one more target each; the ceiling spotlights flash again when the clock hits zero, and Kirk reappears onscreen to call the players in and announce a winner.
?All right, that?s it!? he shouts. ?Blue got two, but Silver got three, giving them a half Pendant of Life!? The audience applauds again. ?So now it?s all tied up, a half Pendant each.  We go to the third and final game, it?s worth a full Pendant.  Olmec, tell us about Temple Game #3.?

Olmec narrates:
?Sir Antonio lost his life at the Battle of Mbwila, and the Portuguese took over a number of territories to form the region known as Angola.  On the wall above you are the names of four territories the Portuguese won: ?Kongo,? ?Ndongo,? ?Luanda? and ?Mbwila.? When Kirk gives the signal, load the slingshot and fire a bal.  Then, your partner will catch the ball and stick it onto the first target.  Once you?ve covered a target, that territory is claimed, and you can climb up and try to cover the next target.
?The team that covers all four territories and completes Angola? or the team that?s further along in 60 seconds? wins.?
?This is for the Temple,? Kirk explains. ?Let?s put 60 seconds on the clock.? The clock appears onscreen. ?On your mark, get set, GO!?
Sara and Leah man the slingshots and try to fire balls so that their partners can catch.  It takes a while for both girls to get a feel for shooting at their partners, but Leah manages to throw one that Garret can catch and stick on ?Kongo? with 48 seconds left, allowing him to climb up to ?Ndongo.? The Blue Barracudas tie things up by landing a ball on ?Kongo? with 42 seconds remaining.  After the first target, though, it seems the Silver Snakes have already gotten the hang of it, covering ?Ndongo? at the :38 mark.  The Blue Barracudas cover ?Ndongo? with 29 seconds to go, but three seconds later, the Snakes once again take the lead, covering ?Luanda.?
?This game could really go either way,? says Kirk at :20. ?Blue Barracudas could catch up and take the lead, it?s neck-to-neck.? The Blue Barracudas cover ?Luanda? with 14 seconds on the clock, but only two seconds later, the Silver Snakes cover ?Mbwila,? their final target, with :12 left.
?That?s it!? Kirk announces, running onscreen and gesturing for the boys to climb back down the walls and the girls to walk over. ?Silver Snakes got all four targets before time ended, so they get the full Pendant, giving them a Pendant and a half? they?re goin? to the Temple!? Garret and Leah high-ten as the audience applauds, and Kirk goes to talk with the other team. ?Blue Barracudas gave it a great effort too.  Here?s what we got for them.? Kenneth and Sara will each be receiving a copy of the Sonic Riders Nintendo GameCube game.
The camera cuts back to Kirk with the Silver Snakes in front of the equipment for the third Temple Game. ?We?ll see if the Silver Snakes can make it through Olmec?s Temple and retrieve that Lost Crown of Em-bu-eel-ah,? he says, ?right after this!? The camera swerves across the Temple Games arena and zooms in on the Lost Crown in the Junction of the Secret Shafts before fading to commercial.

Rediscovery EP: The Lost Crown of Mbwila
« Reply #3 on: October 12, 2009, 05:18:47 PM »
Kirk stands in front of the Temple's stairs to the camera-right of Garret and Leah. "Welcome back to Legends," he says to the camera. "The Silver Snakes have proven themselves worthy and now have earned the right to enter the Temple.  But first, Olmec?s gonna give them some information to help them retrieve the Lost Crown of Embila."
Olmec begins to give the rundown:
?You could start by climbing through the Crevasse and climbing down into the Great Chasm.  Crawl through the pit, then race into the Crystal Cave.  Pull down the correct icicle, and you could choose to go up into the Cathedral, or into the Junction of the Secret Shafts, where you can grab the Lost Crown of Mbwila.  If you escape, you might have a chance to enter the Switch Inferno.  Hit the right actuator to go upstairs, or plow through the wall and go into the Dungeon.
?There, climb up the Pharaoh?s Secret Passage into the Geographer?s Study.  Take the correct book off the bookshelf to open the door to the SHRIIIIIIIIINE? of the Silver Monkey. Assemble the statue, and you may be headed for the Knights? Barracks.  Place the sword in the correct sheath, and you could advance into the Laser Light Room.  Find the right combination to unleash the power of the laser, and swing on the rope back across the Great Chasm.  Then, pass through the Arctic Antechamber, race down the stairs and back through the Temple Gate.  The choices are yours and yours alone!? Olmec pauses for a second. "You won 1 ? Pendants in the Temple Games.  Who's going first??
"I am," says Garret.
"Very well, Garret!" replies Olmec as Kirk hands out the Pendants of Life. "When Kirk gives the signal, you'll race through the gates into the Temple and make your way towards the Lost Crown of Mbwila.  Hidden in the Temple are three ventilation shafts that let out in the Junction of the Secret Shafts, as well as Temple Guards assigned to protect three specific rooms.  You can trade your Pendant for an extra life and go on, but if you're caught without a Pendant, you'll be taken out of the Temple? and it'll be Leah's turn to enter and try her luck.  Hidden inside the Temple is the other half of your Pendant.  If you can find it and you?re carrying the other half, you will get an extra life.  If you can reach the Lost Crown, all the doors of the Temple will instantly unlock, and the Temple Guards will vanish.  Return through the gates with the Lost Crown in three minutes, and you will both be handsomely rewarded? and here's how!"
?   For just getting into the Temple, they?re both going to get a pair of Rollerblades.
?   If they can reach the Lost Crown within three minutes, they?re also going to get a Nintendo video game chair.
?   And if they can get the Lost Crown out of the Temple before 3 minutes is up, they?ll both be going to the Bahamas! The Bahamas Princess Resort, on exciting Grand Bahama Island, offering tennis, swimming and international entertainment.  Fun for the whole family! Bahamas Princess Resort, for a prize package totaling $10,594!

"All right, let's try to get those Silver Snakes to the Bahamas!" Kirk says before turning to Leah. "So Leah, tell us: How're you going to get to the Crown?"
"Um?" Leah explains, "we're gonna go across the top until we can go down and get in to get the? the Crown and come back out."
"All right, well, let's see if that works out," says Kirk.  He then turns to Garret. "Garret, let's get you out in front over here.  Mouthpieces in.  Put three minutes on the clock." The countdown clock appears in the corner of the screen. "Olmec, lower your gate, please!"
Olmec groans gutturally as he lowers the gate; the blue lights under him are turned off.
"On your mark Garret, get set, GO!"

?There goes Garret, with a Pendant and a half!? Kirk shouts as Garret runs up the stairs into the Arctic Antechamber. ?How far can that take them?? Garret pushes his way through the three ice walls around the room, circling around the door leading downward until the door into the Great Chasm opens (2:48). ?Now he?s into the Great Chasm, where he?s gotta go across to a door to move on!? Garret reaches out for the rope and eventually grabs it with 2:37 remaining, but when he tries to swing across the gap, he lets go of the rope and falls down into the pit. ?He wanted to go up, but maybe he?s got a plan, I don?t know!?
Ignoring the door leading into the Crystal Cave, Garret goes straight for the indents in the left wall of the Great Chasm and starts climbing up (2:30). ?He changed his mind again, he wants to go up!? Garret climbs up using the indents as handholds and footholds, but when he?s about three-quarters of the way up to the top of the rock ledge on top of which the doors to the Cathedral and Laser Light Room are located, his fingers slip from the edge of one of the handholds, and he soon loses grip on the other indents and falls back down (2:14).  He gets back up and tries again a few seconds later, finally getting on the ledge with 1:50 remaining.  Garret uses the rope between the two doors for stability as he moves across to the actuator for the Laser Light Room.  He hits the actuator, opens the door and heads into the Laser Light Room with 1:46 on the clock.
?All right, he?s moving on!? Kirk remarks as Garret heads up the staircase into the Laser Light Room. ?He?s gotta make up for some lost time now!? Garret kneels down in front of the laser generator and begins to align the sections of the column; it takes him relatively little time, and with 1:30 remaining, the objective is complete, and a light is emitted from the dome atop the column.  Both doors leading out of the room open, and Garret moves on into the Knights? Barracks.  He takes the sword and puts it in the rightmost sheath, but while he?s in the suit of armor just to do so, the gauntlets come to life and grab him, and a voice bellows ?GOT YOU!?? the armor houses a TEMPLE SPIRIT!
?Woah! That scared me!? comments Kirk as Garret struggles to break free of the Temple Spirit?s grasp. ?You gotta give ?em the Pendant! Give ?em the Pendant and put it around the scabbard!? Garret struggles, but eventually he hangs the Pendant of Life on the sheath, and the gauntlets relax, allowing him to get out of the armor with 1:10 remaining.  He passes through the newly-opened door into the Shrine of the Silver Monkey.  Not noticing that the door into the Geographer?s Study is already open, Garret goes to the back of the room and grabs the base and middle of the statue, bringing them to the front of the room and putting them in position (0:59).  Both are a bit off, however, as Garret heads to the back of the room for the head.  He tries to jam it down, but it takes him a while to realize a corner of the base isn?t pushed down and the middle is turned a bit.  He gets the base in position, but tries to turn the middle into position with the head pushed down.  With 47 seconds left, the statue is completed, opening the door to the Dungeon.  Garret advances into the Geographer?s Study and looks around for a second. ?He?s gotta pull down one of those atlases to open a door! Forty-five seconds!? Garret moves to the bookshelf in the back of the room and pulls down one of the three large atlases marked ?ACTUATOR,? but a pair of arms reach out from the other side of the bookcase and grab him? he?s been caught by the second TEMPLE GUARD!
?Oh, there he goes! Go Lisa!? Kirk shouts, sending Leah into the Temple with forty seconds to go.  She passes through the Arctic Antechamber and swings across the gap in the Great Chasm, landing on the other ledge with 23 seconds remaining.  She stops for a second before she runs up the stairs into the Laser Light Room, then jogs down the stairs into the Knights? Barracks and heads through into the Shrine of the Silver Monkey before entering the Geographer?s Study (0:05). ?She?s into the room! Slide down! Slide down!? Leah looks around and tries to manually open the door to the Pharaoh?s Secret Passage? but we?re out of time!
?Ugh, time ran out in the Geographer?s Lair!? remarks Kirk. ?They were only a couple of rooms away, and they gave it a great effort, but they still get the Rollerblades just for playing, and we gotta get outta here.  Check us out next time for another great adventure and more Legends of the Hidden Temple! Buh-bye!? The camera shows rooms like the Dungeon and the Junction of the Secret Shafts as well as scenery details like the golden idol among all the foliage as the credits roll.

This team would've won if Garret wasn't such a klutz in the Great Chasm.  His hands slipped off the rope as he tried to swing across to the other ledge, so he had to climb back out of the pit; when trying to climb out, he lost his grip just before he got to the ledge and had to start over.  As a result, he didn't leave the Great Chasm until only 1:46 was left? fifty-nine seconds after he arrived in the room.  He eventually was grabbed in the Geographer's Study with only 41 seconds left.  Leah didn't have enough time to progress any further.

Trivia and Records:
Obviously, Garret spent more time in the pit area than any other player in The Rediscovery (Veronica in "The Bifocal Monocle of One-Eyed Jack" from Season 3 of the original show still holds the title for the most time ever).
