Rediscovery EP: Caligula's Horseshoe

Legends: The Rediscovery

Episode 59px]

The camera maneuvers through a thick rainforest to stop in front of an ancient temple.  A giant stone head next to the gate of the temple begins to speak:
"LEGENDS OF THE HIDDEN TEMPLE! With your guide, Kirk Fogg! And here he is NOW!"

On this final word, Kirk appears from behind the Temple Guard door in the Dungeon and runs straight out into the foreground of the stage to greet the crowd. "Thank you! Thank you very much! Nice to see you! Nice to see you, Olmec! Welcome to Legends of the Hidden Temple.  The rooms are filled with lost treasures that are protected by mysterious Mayan Temple Guards.  Only Olmec knows the legend behind each of the treasures in his temple.  Which legend are we gonna hear about today?"

Olmec replies:
"The Legend of Caligula?s Horseshoe."

"Ooh, the Legend of the Caligula Horseshoe!" Kirk says in response. "Well the legend is set, and one of these teams will have the chance to retrieve the Horseshoe of Caligula.  Will it be:
"Eddie and Danielle of the Red Jaguars?" the camera pans to each team in order?
"Carlos and Tracy of the Blue Barracudas,
"Cory and Jessie of the Green Monkeys,
"Mark and Andrea of the Orange Iguanas,
"Victor and Brittani of the Purple Parrots,
"Or Joel and Laura of the Silver Snakes?"

"They'll have to pass many physical and mental tests," Kirk says, "and in the end, only one team will earn the right to enter Olmec's Temple.  But first, they?ll have to cross the Moat, and here's how they'll have to do it today??
"Oh, the Moat's frozen to ice! So when I say go, one player from each team will crawl through the holes in the boards laid across the ice until they reach the other side of the Moat.  Then their partner will do the same."
"When the second player climbs out onto the deck, it's his job to run over and hit the gong." He slams down on the Red Jaguars' gong to demonstrate. "The first four teams to hit their gongs will be going into the next round.  Are you ready, teams?"
The players all cheer and shout in response.
"Olmec, are you ready?" asks Kirk.
"Sir, yes, sir!" Olmec replies.
"All right!" Kirk laughs in response. "Teams: On your marks, get set, GO!"

The first players of each team take off; the boy on the Red Jaguars is a bit slower than the others from the beginning.  The boy on the Green Monkeys takes a lead about halfway across the Moat, getting through the second of the four partitions faster than the other players.  The Red Jaguars and Blue Barracudas are just getting through the third partitions as the boy on the Green Monkeys makes it to the other side, in fact.  The first player on the Orange Iguanas gets across a couple seconds later.
?This is a close match!? Kirk remarks as the other teams get their first players across.  After a little longer, the girl on the Green Monkeys crawls out of the last hole and runs over to meet her partner and hit the team?s gong.
?There, we got our first? we got two teams!? announces Kirk as the girl on the Orange Iguanas follows suit.  Not too long after, the Silver Snakes become the third team to finish.  The girl on the Purple Parrots crosses a moment later.
?And that?s it!? Kirk announces; the camera switches to him high-fiving the Green Monkeys next to their team?s gong. ?The Green Monkeys are super-excited, they blazed across that Moat!? he remarks. ?They?re going on to the Steps of Knowledge, and so are the Orange Iguanas?? the camera briefly shows each qualifying team? ?and the Purple Parrots? and the Silver Snakes! The Red Jaguars and the Blue Barracudas gave it a great effort.  They?re not going away empty-handed, we got a great gift for them for playing and here?s what it is.? Eddie, Tracy, Danielle and Carlos will each be receiving an Armitron watch.

Rediscovery EP: Caligula's Horseshoe
« Reply #1 on: July 16, 2009, 06:15:59 PM »
The four teams are now at the top of the Steps of Knowledge accompanied by Kirk. "As the quest continues, it's now time for Olmec to tell us about Caligula?s Horseshoe.  Pay attention, because your knowledge of the Legend can bring you a step closer to the Temple."
Olmec begins to tell the legend:
"It was Rome, in the year 40 A.D.  Legend has it the courtroom doors were opening in the center of town, and the defendant, Marcus Maximus was brought before the judge, who let out a loud whinny.  The judge was in fact a horse named Incitatus.  The horse?s owner, the emperor Caligula, stood beside him.
" 'Defense, what do you plead?' Caligula translated.
"Marcus simply stared. 'Is that horse really the judge? You?ve gotta be kidding me!'
" 'Neeeeiiiiigh!' replied the horse angrily.
" 'Incitatus doesn?t take kindly to being mocked,' said Caligula. 'One more remark like that and you?ll be found in content of court! Incitatus, continue, please.'
" 'Neeeeeeiiiiiiiigh!'
" 'That?s it! I can?t deal with this,' said Marcus. 'I admit it: I killed Silvius Magnus!'
" 'Neeeeiiiiigh!' whinnied Incitatus.
" 'Incitatus finds you guilty of the murder of Silvius Magnus and sentences you to death!' announced Caligula.  He then noticed Incitatus trying to pick up the gavel to adjourn the trial with his hoof, and for later trials, Caligula had the horseshoes removed to make it easier to pick it up.  One of the horseshoes made its way to the Temple.  You must find Caligula?s Horseshoe and bring it back here."

"Thank you Olmec," Kirk says after Olmec finishes telling the legend, "but where is the Horseshoe?"
Olmec replies:
"Caligula?s Horseshoe can be found in the Dragon?s Lair." The camera zooms in on the Horseshoe on the front railing in the Dragon?s Lair, then fades back to Kirk.

"Teams," Kirk begins, walking down the steps, "you're now standing on the Steps of Knowledge, and in a minute, Olmec will ask you a question.  If you think you know the answer, stomp down on the ancient marking in front of you.  If you're right, you're gonna move down to the next level, but if you're wrong or you run out of time, I'll give the other teams a chance to answer.  The first two teams to make it to the bottom level will be one step closer to Olmec's Temple.  Olmec, we're all ready for your first question."

Olmec begins:
?Was Caligula a ruler of: Ancient Greece, Ancient Egypt or Ancient Rome??
Victor hits the marking first: ?Rome???
?Correct,? Olmec replies.
?Nice job, Purple Parrots, step down!? remarks Kirk, and the Purple Parrots move down to the second step. ?Next question.?
Olmec asks:
?Was Caligula?s title: Tsar???
A stomp by Jessie interrupts him: ??King???
?Incorrect,? answers Olmec. ?The three choices are??
Brittani rings in: ?Emperor???
?That is correct.?
?Just like that, Purple Parrots one step away from the Temple Games!? Kirk comments as the Purple Parrots move down onto the third level. ?Olmec, next question.?
Olmec now asks:
?According to our legend, did Caligula?s horse serve as???
Joel cuts off Olmec this time: ?A? judge.?
?Correct.?
?Silver Snakes, step down!? Kirk encourages, and the Silver Snakes do so. ?We?re looking for two teams.  Next question, please.?
Olmec asks:
?Was the horse?s name: Incitatus, Julius or Brutus??
Joel buzzes in again: ?In?citatus???
?That is correct,? says Olmec in response.
?Silver Snakes now one step away from the Temple Games,? comments Kirk. ?Next question, please.?
Olmec then asks:
?In our legend, was the trial for a: Robbery, Manslaughter or Murder??
Victor gongs in: ?Murder???
?That is correct!? shouts Olmec, and the Purple Parrots hop down onto the bottom step.
?There, we got our first team moving on to the Temple Games!? Kirk announces as Victor and Brittani high-ten and bounce up and down. ?It?s the Purple Parrots! We?re still looking for one more team; who?s it gonna be? Let?s keep going.?
Olmec does so by asking:
?According to the legend, was the defendant?s name: Marcus Maximus, Michaelus Maximus or Circus Maximus??
Joel gives it a guess: ?Marcus Maximus???
?THAT IS CORRECT!? bellows Olmec, and the Silver Snakes skirt around the Purple Parrots to get down to the bottom step.
?That?s it!? Kirk says as he gets in behind the two qualifying teams. ?We got our two teams! The Purple Parrots and the Silver Snakes! Great job!? Kirk high-fives Joel of the Silver Snakes, then looks up the steps at the other teams. ?Green Monkeys, Orange Iguanas, come on down here.? The teams move down two steps. ?These guys gave it a great effort, but came up a little bit short.  We got a great gift for them and here?s what it is.? Cory, Jessie, Mark and Andrea will each be receiving Transformers: Cybertron Optimus Prime and Megatron action figures.
The camera cuts back from the prize announcement to show Kirk with the Silver Snakes and Purple Parrots at the bottom of the Steps of Knowledge. ?These two teams will be playing for the right to enter Olmec?s Temple,? he says, ?right after this!? The camera pans out over the Moat, then fades to commercial.

Rediscovery EP: Caligula's Horseshoe
« Reply #2 on: July 16, 2009, 06:17:21 PM »
Kirk is now standing between the Silver Snakes and the Purple Parrots in front of the Mine Shaft. ?Welcome back to Legends!? he says. ?Now is the time when the glory goes to the fastest and the strongest, so let?s talk to our team players.? He turns to the camera-left talk to the girl on the Silver Snakes, a slightly tall girl with curly brown hair. ?On the Silver Snakes, we have Laura.  How old are you??
?Fifteen,? she replies.
?Now, I understand you?re on your high school?s swim team,? Kirk reads off the index card, ?but you?re also a video gamer.  Tell me about that.?
?Well,? Laura explains, ?I have a PlayStation 2, and I play games like Virtua Fighter and Metal Gear Solid.?
?There?s not a lot of girl gamers, though, are there?? asks Kirk.
?Yeah,? Laura answers, ?most of my friends are guys.? She flashes a wide grin.
?All right,? Kirk says as he goes to interview the boy on the far right of the screen, who?s a bit tan and has dark hair and eyes. ?And Joel, how old are you??
?Fourteen,? he replies.
?And you?re a skateboarder and a drummer, right?? Kirk reads. ?Tell me about that.?
?Well, I listen to bands like Crossfade, AC/DC and Theory of a Deadman,? says Joel, ?and I?ve been drumming for two years now.  Big fan of Phil Rudd.  I?ve only been skateboarding for a year and a half or so, still trying to pull off a McTwist.?
?Well, sounds like some work,? Kirk comments. ?Let?s hear it for the Silver Snakes!? Joel and Laura clap along with the audience, and Kirk turns toward the right side of the screen to talk to the girl on the Purple Parrots, who has hazel eyes, freckles and brown hair in a braided ponytail. ?And on the Purple Parrots, we have Brittani.  How old are you??
?Fourteen,? she replies.
?And I understand you?re also a skateboarder,? Kirk says. ?Look at that.  How long have you been doing that??
?Just about a year,? Brittani answers.
?And how good are you??
?Not very good,? she admits. ?I really want to pull off a Judo Air, but really the most I can do right now is an ollie or a 360.?
?That?s not bad,? Kirk says, moving to talk to the boy on the far right of the screen, who has short hair and dark brown eyes. ?And Victor, how old are you??
?Fourteen,? answers he.
?And I understand you play soccer but you also collect coins from around the world,? Kirk says. ?Tell me about that.?
?Well, my parents are from Chile,? Victor explains, ?and I?ve been there, Spain, Barbados and Argentina.  I?ve got different coins from each.?
?Ah, very nice!? Kirk remarks. ?Let?s hear it for the Purple Parrots!? Victor and Brittani clap along with the audience this time.

?You guys ready to play?? asks Kirk.
?YEAH!? The players reply.
?Okay, go get ready for the Temple Games!? Kirk says, pointing in different directions.  Laura and Brittani walk offscreen in one direction, Joel and Victor in another. ?In the Temple Games, the teams are competing to win?" he opens a pouch and pulls out a small gold medallion to show to the camera? "these Pendants of Life.  The winning team?ll need those Pendants to protect them from the DREADED Temple Guards as they make their way through Olmec?s Temple.  There are three Temple Games, and Olmec? tell us about Temple Game #1.?

Olmec begins:
?Caligula?s horse wasn?t as intelligent as he thought.  In this game, you must prove your horsemanship.  Hold on tight, because when Kirk gives the signal, the horse will start to spin.
?The player that?s still on the horse after 60 seconds? or the player that stays on the longest? wins.?
The camera fades to Kirk, who is standing in front of the mechanical horse. ?This is one crazy horse,? he says. ?Let?s put 60 seconds on the clock.? A countdown clock then appears in the bottom-right corner of the screen. ?On your mark, get set, GO!?
The horse begins spinning clockwise, and both Brittani and Laura hold on tight.  The machine spins counterclockwise after about fifteen seconds, and then reverses direction again about halfway.  During the second change, Brittani falls off with exactly 30 seconds still on the clock.
?Whoa! That was wild!? Kirk says, going over to declare a winner. ?Great job by both teams, but Silver Snakes stayed on the longest, so they get a half Pendant of Life!? The audience applauds for a moment as Kirk goes to talk to Brittani. ?You? uh? had some trouble staying on there,? he says to her. ?Tell me what happened.?
?It just? got me there,? she explains. ?I didn?t think it was gonna go the other way.?
?Well, no worries,? Kirk replies. ?Purple Parrots can catch up in the next game, it?s also worth a half Pendant.  Olmec, tell us about Temple Game #2.?

Olmec continues:
?According to legend, Incitatus was a high judge, and he had a tendency to sentence people to prison for many years.  In this game, you have only 60 seconds.  When Kirk gives the signal, climb on the wheel and adjust your weight to make the wheel spin.  When it makes one full rotation, it means one year has passed for the prisoners.  The player who makes the most years pass in 60 seconds wins.?
?Time waits for no player,? comments Kirk, ?so let?s get started, then.  Let?s put 60 seconds on the clock.? The clock then appears in the corner of the screen. ?On your mark, get set, GO!?
Victor and Joel take off, and the wheels start rotating.  Victor tries to stay quite a bit faster than Joel from the start, but he falls off for the first time with 47 seconds to go, letting Joel take a bigger lead.  Victor moves slower as he gets back on and tries a second time, while Joel picks up the pace a bit.  Nevertheless, Victor falls off again at the :29 mark, after speeding up a bit to catch up.
?It?s getting spinny and dizzy out there!? Kirk remarks. ?Key is to have the perfect rhythm for it, so you don?t fall off but you get as many spins in as you can!? Victor has a tough time starting up again, but eventually gets it.  On the other hand, Joel manages to keep on even going at a rapid pace.  When time runs out, a pattern of ceiling spotlights flashes to indicate the end of the game, and Kirk reappears onscreen to declare the winner.
?All right!? Kirk says, running over to read the spotters? scoreboards. ?Purple Parrots got 10 miles, but Silver Snakes got 16! Silver Snakes get another half Pendant of Life!? The audience applauds for a second, then Kirk goes to interview Victor. ?You? uh? had a little trouble staying on there,? he says. ?Tell me what was going on.?
?Umm? I just wanted to catch up,? he explains. ?He was going so fast.?
?Well, you can still catch up in the next game,? Kirk replies. ?It?s Silver Snakes have a full Pendant, Purple Parrots don?t have any yet, but the third and final game is worth a full Pendant.  Olmec, tell us about Temple Game #3.?

Olmec narrates:
?In the second Temple Game, you helped speed up time for the prisoners Incitatus had locked up.  In this game, you and your partner must escape a prison of your own.  When Kirk gives the signal, climb along the wall and maneuver the chain along the slot until you reach the passage where you can escape.
?The first team to set themselves free? or the one that?s further along after 60 seconds? wins!?
The camera shows Kirk standing in front of the two giant boards and facing the camera. ?This is for the Temple,? he reminds everyone. ?Let?s put 60 seconds on the clock.? The clock appears onscreen. ?On your mark, get set, GO!?
The teams climb up from the starting position and both head along the top rows of their respective boards at a decent pace, but the Silver Snakes? chain gets caught for a little bit, giving the Parrots a slight lead.  The Purple Parrots make it through the first of the three metal loops with 40 seconds left, just as the Snakes reach the loop; they make it through at the :33 mark.
?This game is hard,? Kirk says. ?Takes communication, this is tough, but the Purple Parrots are moving fast!? The Purple Parrots? lead continues to increase; they make it through the second loop with 26 seconds to go, while the Silver Snakes aren?t even close to the loop.  The Snakes go for the last loop with sixteen seconds to go, but it?s too little too late; the Parrots make it through the last loop and escape a moment later.
?That?s it! We got our winners!? Kirk says when the Red Jaguars appear. ?Purple Parrots made it out first, that gives them the full Pendant, Silver Snakes have a full Pendant, it?s a tie! Bring out the tiebreaker podiums!?

The players run over to the tiebreaker pedestals and stand behind their gongs as directed by Kirk. ?Okay, here?s the tiebreaker rules.  In a second, Olmec will ask you a question.  If you think you know the answer, hit the gong in front of you.  You?ll have three seconds to answer and I must accept your first response.  If you?re right, you and your partner will be going inside the Temple, but if you?re wrong or run out of time, I'll give the other teams a chance.  All clear?"
The players nod in response.
"Olmec!" Kirk shouts. "What?s the final question??

Olmec asks:
?According to our legend, did Caligula and Incitatus sentence Marcus Maximus to: Ten years in prison, Fifty years in prison or Death??
Laura hits the gong first, and the Silver Snakes answer in unison: ?Death???
There is a momentary pause.
?THAT IS CORRECT!? bellows Olmec, and Laura screams in excitement as she and Joel, still bound by the equipment, high-ten several times.
?It was close, but Olmec?s made his decision!? Kirk declares. ?Silver Snakes are goin? to the Temple!? Kirk then goes to talk with the Purple Parots. ?Purple Parrots gave it a great effort all the way through, it was a tough match.  Here?s what we?ve got for them.? Victor and Brittani will each be receiving an Eastpak backpack.
The camera shows Kirk standing in front of the equipment for the third Temple Game with the now-unfastened Silver Snakes. ?We?ll see if these tough Silver Snakes can retrieve Caligula?s Horseshoe,? he says, ?right after this!? The camera rushes around the equipment for the third Temple Game, stops in front of the Dragon?s Lair and zooms in on Caligula?s Horseshoe before fading to commercial.

Rediscovery EP: Caligula's Horseshoe
« Reply #3 on: July 16, 2009, 06:17:52 PM »
Kirk stands in front of the Temple's stairs to the camera-right of Joel and Laura. "Welcome back to Legends," he says to the camera before turning to talk to the players. "You two have proven themselves worthy and now have earned the right to enter the Temple.  But first, here some information to help you retrieve that Horseshoe of Caligula."
Olmec begins to give the rundown:
?You could start by climbing through the Crevasse and climbing down into the Mine Shaft.  Throw enough rocks into the bucket to lift the slab, then race into the Crystal Cave.  Pull down the correct icicle, and you could choose to go up into the Dragon?s Lair, where you can grab Caligula?s Horseshoe? or, you might go into the Junction of the Secret Shafts.  If you escape, you might have a chance to enter the Switch Inferno.  Hit the right actuator to go upstairs, or plow through the wall and into the Dungeon.
?There, climb up the Pharaoh?s Secret Passage into the Geographer?s Study.  Take the correct book off the bookshelf, and put it on the pedestal in the front of the room to open the door? to the Shrine? of the Silver Monkey.  Assemble the statue, and you may be headed for the Knights? Barracks.  Place the sword in the correct sheath, and you could advance into the Laser Light Room.  Find the right combination to unleash the power of the laser, and run across the Bridge.  Then, pass through the Arctic Antechamber, race down the stairs and back through the Temple Gate.  The choices are yours and yours alone.? Olmec pauses for a second here. "You won 1 Pendant in the Temple Games.  Who's going first??
"I am!" shouts Laura, raising her hand in the air.
"Very well, Laura!" replies Olmec as Kirk hands out the Pendants of Life. "When Kirk gives the signal, you'll race through the gates into the Temple and make your way towards the Horseshoe.  Hidden inside the Temple are three ventilation shafts that let out in the Junction of the Secret Shafts, as well as Temple Guards assigned to protect three specific rooms.  You can trade your Pendant for an extra life and go on, but if you're caught without a Pendant, you'll be taken out of the Temple? and then it'll be Joel's turn to enter and try his luck.  Hidden somewhere inside the Temple are the two halves of your Pendant.  If you can find both of them, you will get an extra life.  If you can reach the Horseshoe, all the doors of the Temple will instantly unlock, and the Temple Guards will vanish.  Return through the gates with Caligula?s Horseshoe in three minutes, and you will both be handsomely rewarded? and here's how!"
?   For just getting into the Temple, they?re both going to get a skateboard provided by Vans.
?   If they can reach the Horseshoe within three minutes, they?re also going to get Compton?s Interactive Encyclopedia on CD-ROM, by Compton?s New Media.
?   And if they can get the Horseshoe out of the Temple before 3 minutes is up, they?ll both be going to Krystal Cancun! Krystal Cancun, the resort for beach lovers, with excursions to Mayan ruins.  It?s rich in history and rich in pleasure.  Krystal Cancun, for a prize package totaling $12,546!

"Sounds great! Let's get 'em to Mexico!" Kirk says before turning to Joel. "So, Joel, tell me: What's your strategy?"
"Well," he explains, "she's gonna go down, across to the room with the icicles, go up there into the center, grab the Horseshoe and climb up and get back out.  And if that doesn't work, she's gonna go to the room with all the switches and try going up, and if she gets taken out, I'm gonna rush in and clear it as fast as I can."
"Let's see if that works out," Kirk says. "Laura, let's get you out in front.  Both of you, put your mouthpieces in, you never know when you're gonna have to run in.  Let's lower the gate, Olmec!"
Olmec hums as he lowers the gate.
"Three minutes on the clock." The clock appears onscreen. "On your mark, get set, GO!"

?There she goes! This girl?s fast!? Kirk remarks as Laura races up the stairs of the Temple and slides down into the Crevasse. ?Team?s got one Pendant, how far can they go?? Laura quickly crawls through the ledges and takes the upper crawl tube into the Mine Shaft with 2:45 to go.  As she climbs down the ladder, she starts to slow down and looks around at the rocks for a second before piling them into the bucket. ?She?s gotta do some rock mining here!? She misses the bucket on her first throw, but it only takes five rocks in the bucket before the stone slab covering the door rises all the way.  With 2:27 remaining, Laura rushes for the actuator, opens the door and scrambles through into the Crystal Cave.
Laura pulls the stalactites down slowly, with the last one she pulls? situated behind the ladder in the room? causing the door leading into the Junction of the Secret Shafts to open.  She looks up and tries to climb up into the Dragon?s Lair, but the door remains locked. ?She can?t go into there,? Kirk explains, ?so good thing she had a backup plan!? At the 2:07 mark, Laura rushes into the Junction of the Secret Shafts, but as she races across the room, out jumps the first TEMPLE GUARD!
?Woah! Temple Guard!? Kirk remarks. ?She?s gotta give up her Pendant? the only Pendant? so she can go on.? Laura does so, giving her Pendant of Life to the Temple Guard after a bit of trouble and taking off again (1:58).  She heads across the room and tries the closer crawl tube, which doesn?t open.  She then opens the further crawl tube and heads on through; the camera zooms in on the half Pendant on the tunnel actuator as she leaves the Junction of the Secret Shafts (1:47).
?Next time a Temple Guard gets her, it?ll be turn for Joel,? Kirk reminds the audience as Laura looks around in the Switch Inferno.  She hesitates and feels around the walls for a second, then hits the actuators one at a time.  She starts on the right wall, then goes to the back wall and the left one.  The second actuator on the left wall is the correct one, and the door leading upward opens.  Laura then scrambles up the ladder and enters the Shrine of the Silver Monkey with 1:24 left.
?She?s into the Shrine of the SIIIIL-ver Monkey!? Kirk declares as Laura walks to the back of the room and grabs the parts of the statue.  She takes them one at a time, having some trouble getting the base into position.  She heads back for the middle and tries to get it in position, but she eventually pushes the corners of the base that are sticking out into position by pushing down on the middle piece.  Finally, she goes back for the head, taking a few seconds to turn it properly and jam it down.  With exactly a minute left, the statue is fully assembled, and Laura runs on into the Knights? Barracks.
?There! Now she?s only one room away!? Kirk declares.  Laura looks the armors over, then grabs the sword at the front of the room.  She puts it in the sheath in the leftmost suit of armor, then tries the rightmost one.  She looks over at the middle suit of armor, stands still for a second, then moves in.  She tries to stick the sword in place and move back out, but before she can back out of the armor, the gauntlets come to life and grab her? the armor?s possessed by a TEMPLE SPIRIT!
?Oh! Go Joel!? Kirk shouts out, sending Joel on his way with 42 seconds remaining. ?She was grabbed by a Temple Guard? a Temple Ghost! Joel?s gonna have to make up a lost of time!? Joel almost heads up into the Arctic Antechamber, but corrects himself and goes down into the Crevasse. ?He?s gonna be following Laura?s path, she was taken out in the Knights? Room!? Joel makes it through all the same rooms, landing in the Switch Inferno with 14 seconds left.  He climbs up the ladder and passes into the Knights? Barracks, but the door into the Dragon?s Lair isn?t open.  He runs up the stairs into the Laser Light Room? but we?re out of time!
?Oh, so close! They were just one room away from the object!? Kirk remarks. ?Good job by both players.  They still get the skateboards just for playing, I know Joel likes that.  We gotta get outta here.  Join us next time for another great Legend of the Hidden Temple! Buh-bye!? The camera runs through the top floor of the Temple in a first-person view as the credits roll.

Location of Artifact: The Dragon's Lair

While Laura proved she was a fast runner during the Temple Run, she hesitated quite a bit when the room objective was more than just hitting an actuator.  She could tell one of the suits of armor in the Knights' Barracks was possessed, and delayed her capture a bit.  She finally tried that last suit after nothing else opened, but attempted to outrun the Temple Spirit (? la Irish from the original series's "The Bent Shaving Pan of Jedediah Smith").  Unfortunately, the spirit was faster, and Laura got taken out with only 44 seconds to go.

Joel almost went into the Arctic Antechamber? my guess is the third Temple Guard was there? but corrected himself and later made it to where Laura left off.  However, the Temple design forced them to curve around the Dragon's Lair, so Joel had to enter the Laser Light Room.  Time ran out as he was heading up the staircase.

Trivia and Records:
This was the first time a second runner almost entered the wrong entrance room, but corrected himself.  Laura was the only player to miss the bucket trying to complete the Mine Shaft objective, while Joel set a remarkable record for the most rotations in the "turn the wheel" Temple Game: 16.

I was thinking more "The Electrified Key of Benjamin Franklin" when I included that, actually.  I realized it was something a couple of players did in the original show, but I haven't had that almost-wrong turn featured up until now.

Be patient, karmew. I'm anxious to read the next one, too, but the man needs time to create!
