The "coffin" doesn't really look like a coffin, either.

In an early episode Kirk called the Tomb of the Ancient Kings "the Sarcophagus Room".  It would have been cooler if the key was actually hidden in a sarcophagus, which may or may not be hiding a temple guard as well.

When I first saw the room, I thought the Temple Guards were supposed to come out of the little coffin. Then I saw them come out of the door & was pissed.

Yes, if the temple guards hid in the coffin, the shock factor would have completely put the Dark Forest to shame.  And imagine how much farther poor Nick would have jumped out...

I actually liked the Tomb of Ancient Kings idea, at least you need a key to go on instead of the right actuator.  But the Room of Golden Idols seemed pointless since I've never seen anyone complete the objective to go down.

You know back when the show was on, I actually had dreams that there was a temple guard inside the coffin, but no. It was behind one of the doors...

I still liked it when they jumped out from behind the door. How many times was there a temple guard in that room though? There's only like 5 that I can remember: The Gordion Knot, The Keys to the Alhambra, The Blue Pearl, The Star of Sultan Saladin, and Henry VIII's Great Seal. Did I miss any?

And to stay on topic: The Room of the Golden Idols was the most pointless ever. The Treasury of Golden Orbs was actually a cool room. They should have implemented that more.

The Pirate's Cove was really stupid.  It was basically the Torch Room without an elevator.

At least there was an objective that had to be completed either way in the Pirate's Cove.

Yes, but it should have been the same objective, spinning the wheel.  To enter the Shrine the players still had to put the torch in the right holder (according to Kirk in "The Oracle Bowl of Delphi", anyway).  That's why I hate the Pirate's Cove; they barely changed it at all from the Torch Room.

Yes, the Torch Room objective was in effect when entering from the Dungeon. It must have been extremely confusing for the players, though.

It was for me, too.  The first time I saw The Oracle Bowl of Delphi I was just as confused as Jackie.  But I still think it's better than most top-corner rooms cus at least you have to complete an objective before you can go down into the Dungeon.

It ruined too many runs, if you ask me.
