Most pointless room ever
« Reply #45 on: July 04, 2007, 06:25:48 PM »
To me, the Rock Quarry and the Wheel room were my least favorite, as they eliminated the chance of going into the center room directly, taking away more opportunities to trick a contestant.

As far as rooms that shouldn't have even been rooms....the pharohs secret passage was pretty lame, it's just a slide for crying out loud.

The mine shaft if it had worked correctly (gone up and down without hitting a hitch) then it would've been cool, but that seemed to be where most of the bad luck temple runs occured.  Same as the Harmonic Convergence room.  Cool concept, key flaws (1 time door not opening when it should, other times seemed useless).

It ruined too many runs, if you ask me.

Especially the Purple Robe run.

I NEVER liked any Season 1 room to the right of the Shrine. They were ALL too DAMN EASY! Ditto for the Heart Room. And yes, it would've been cool if a guard popped out of the sarcophagus. As for Season 2, I LOVED the Dark Forest and the Throne Room (except for the Golden Stallion ep), HATED the Viper's nest for it's corny sound effects, and liked the rest of the temple. Now, for Season 3, my favorite season (exceept for the War Fan ep). I LOVED the Headless Kings room for that scream sound effect, The Ancient Warrior and Sacred Marker rooms for the way the guard could capture you at any time, and the Pharoah's secret passage cuz it cut the time going down. And I DIDN'T hate any season 3 room. (cuz they were all cool)

I always hated Medusa's lair...there were too many production problems...

Also not a huge fan of the Cave of Size.  It just held everybody up!

On behalf of the Phantom's Temple community, I welcome you, Geektastic, to the forum! :) I totally agree with you, by the way, as you can see in an earlier post here. It just took too much time and it was difficult to see what was wrong if it didn't work.

I hate the Treasure Room. All you had to do was hit a button if you didn't want to go down. Even so, everybody (including Kirk) got confused when they entered to room. It would have been a halfway decent room if you had to open the chest to activate the buttons, and if sometimes, there was a Temple Guard hiding in the chest.

I have to agree with you on the Treasure Room. That room was lame.

I also disliked Medusa's Lair as mentioned earlier. Even when they had the contestants put two snakes in Medusa's head, the room still took at least 30-40 seconds. This room had killed three-four different temple runs. (The Stone Head of the Evil King, The Mask of the Man in the Iron Mask, The Electrified Key of Benjamin Franklin, and The Lost Love Letter of John Smith come to mind.) The worst thing the crew did to the contestants is make Medusa's Lair a dead-end like in the Mask of the Man in the Iron Mask.

The Heart Room was also lame for having no objective.

The Well, the Dungeon, and the Mine Shaft were lame as well...especially the later two.

Finally, the Spider's Lair was a bad room to. It would be impossible for a contestant to try and climb up the webbing in the room.

I don't like the Cave of Sighs/Ledges, because it looked so hard to squeeze through. I'd hurt my back going through that room.

Any room in the center of the temple except the Room of the Mandarin Hand..it was pretty good. As well as the Room of the Fallen Columns, it had an objective that was reasonable.

The Heart Room--Pointless, just hit an actuator. I would actually preffered Medusa's Lair in the first season. And besides, with such an easy objective, people still had no idea what to do (take Kim for an example...)

Medusa's Lair--Way too time-consuming, and took away so many dreams of Legends contestants. Also, when I was young, the screams from the snakes being put in and the pink eyes and roar when the objective was completed made me really scared when I was young.

The Chamber of the Sacred Markers--Too time-consuming, finding markers and then matching them up, they could be anywhere on the walls, not to mention the scariness of a temple guard appearing in the door to the King's Storeroom.

More? OK, here we go....

The Room of the Golden Idols--No one hugged an idol anyway, so it was pretty pointless. They should have hugged an idol no matter what.

The Treasure Room--This is by far, the worst room ever in the whole show. It was basically a second Heart Room in the temple.

Any room in the top-left corner that had an elevator--There could be at least be an objective to open a door covering the elevator or something. Also, the elevator should have been faster!

Whoo.....I hate a lot of rooms.

Well, if not for the elevator, the first one-second win in LOTHT would have been like 30 episodes later. Consider that...

The Heart Room is ridiculously pointless.  Also, the Room of the Golden Idols and the Pirate's Cove.  Pirate's Cove was the same thing as the Torch Room.

Technically, you had to spin the ship's wheel in the Pirates' Cove to raise the slab allowing you to go below, but I think this objective was bypassed in one situation.

Without a doubt, any room where all you had to do was hit an actuator was pointless.

It's been a while; give me a break. :P For perspective, the last new episode I watched that was new to me was The Mysterious Manuscript of Mary Shelley on November 3rd, 2004. I didn't watch too many episodes afterward.
