Rediscovery EP: The Cork of Robert Hooke

Author's Note: This is one of the episodes in my independent project.  If you have any complaints, first thing to do is to go see the episode directory here:
Legends: The Rediscovery

Episode 29px]

The camera maneuvers through a thick rainforest to stop in front of an ancient temple.  A giant stone head next to the gate of the temple begins to speak:
"LEGENDS OF THE HIDDEN TEMPLE! With your guide, Kirk Fogg! And here he is NOW!"

On this final word, Kirk appears from behind the Temple Guard door in the Dungeon and runs straight out into the foreground of the stage to greet the crowd. "Thank you! Thank you very much! Nice to see you! Nice to see you, Olmec! Welcome to Legends of the Hidden Temple.  The rooms are filled with lost treasures that are protected by mysterious Mayan Temple Guards.  Only Olmec knows the legend behind each of the treasures in his temple.  Which legend are we gonna hear about today?"

Olmec replies:
"The Legend of the Cork of Robert Hooke."

"Oh, the Cork of Robert Hooke," Kirk says in response. "Well the legend is set, and one of these six teams will have the chance to retrieve that Cork.  And will it be:
"Tad and Kim of the Red Jaguars?" the camera pans to each team in order?
"Brett and Mandy of the Blue Barracudas,
"Aaron and Olivia of the Green Monkeys,
"Michael and Beth of the Orange Iguanas,
"Joe and Mikayla of the Purple Parrots,
"Or James and Tiffani of the Silver Snakes?"

"You know they're gonna have to pass a few tough physical and mental tests," Kirk says, "and in the end, only one team will earn the right to enter Olmec's Temple.  First they must cross the Moat, and here's how they'll have to do it today:
"In front of each team there's a set of Arctic rings that're dangling across the Moat.  When I say go, one player from each team will start crawling his way through the rings until he reaches the other side of the Moat.  Then his partner'll start crawling through the rings til he gets to the other side."
"As soon as the second player steps onto the deck, it's his job to run over here and hit the gong." He slams down on the Red Jaguars' gong to demonstrate. "The first four teams to hit their gongs will go on to the next round.  Hey teams? are you ready?"
The players all cheer and shout in response.
"Olmec, are you ready?" asks Kirk.
"Let?s get rollin?," Olmec replies.
"All right then," Kirk replies. "On your marks, get set, GO!"

The teams? first players start crawling belly-down through the tunnels made of more than ten dangling inner tubes, and the boy on the Silver Snakes makes it across after virtually no time at all in the tunnel.  Somewhere between ten and fifteen seconds later, the girl on the Red Jaguars makes it across, followed by the female Purple Parrot.  After another five, the girl from the Orange Iguanas crosses successfully, and four seconds later, the first players from the Blue Barracudas and Green Monkeys make it out of their respective tunnels.
?It?s a squirming match out there!? Kirk comments as the boy on the Purple Parrots pulls ahead of both the boy on the Red Jaguars and the girl on the Silver Snakes, becoming the first player to hit his gong. ?We?ve got one team? two? three!? The boy on the Red Jaguars and the girl on the Blue Barracudas hit their gongs shortly thereafter. ?We still need one more team? and it?s the Silver Snakes!? The girls on the Green Monkeys and Orange Iguanas emerge from the tunnels just as the boy on the Silver Snakes runs over to hit the gong.
?Whoo!? Kirk comments, standing with the Red Jaguars around their gong. ?It was down to that last second, but we got all four teams! The Red Jaguars?? the camera briefly shows each qualifying team? ?and the Blue Barracudas? and the Purple Parrots? and the Silver Snakes! They?re all going on to the Steps of Knowledge! The Green Monkeys and the Orange Iguanas came up just a little bit short.  We got a great gift for them for playing and here?s what it is.?
Dee reads the consolation prize:
"Look at the entertaining fun you?ll have when you strap on Moon Shoes.  Super excitement is yours when you bounce higher than ever! Don?t leave Earth without Moon Shoes, from Big Time Toys!"

Rediscovery EP: The Cork of Robert Hooke
« Reply #1 on: April 27, 2007, 03:45:34 PM »
The four teams are now at the top of the Steps of Knowledge accompanied by Kirk. "As the quest continues, it's now time for Olmec to tell us about the Cork of Robert Hooke.  But pay attention, because your knowledge of the Legend can bring you a step closer to the Temple."
Olmec begins to tell the legend:
"One of the most intelligent English scientists was Robert Hooke.  Actually his father expected him to become a minister, like his three older brothers did.  However, Robert kept getting headaches during his studies, and his parents were so worried he wouldn?t live to become an adult that they decided not to affect his future.
"That left Robert to learn on his own.  He?d always been interested in biology and other sciences, and eventually he found the properties of a spring, and one far more important discovery.
"One day, Robert looked through a gold microscope to take a closer look at a cork, and what he saw were millions of structures shaped like tiny rooms.  He figured out that these structures were the basic units of life, and he named them cells.  The gold microscope Robert used is now on display in a museum, but the cork he studied ended up in the Temple.  You must find the Cork of Robert Hooke and bring it back here."

"Thanks a lot Olmec," Kirk says after Olmec finishes telling the legend. "Olmec, where is the Cork of Robert Hooke?"
Olmec replies:
"The Cork of Robert Hooke can be found in the Junction of the Secret Shafts." The camera zooms in on the Cork positioned on top of the outside wall of the Junction of the Secret Shafts, then fades back to Kirk.

"Teams," Kirk begins, walking down the steps, "you're now standing on the Steps of Knowledge, and in a minute, Olmec will ask you a question.  If you think you know the answer, I want you to stomp down on the ancient marking in front of you.  If you're right, you're gonna move down to the next level, but if you're wrong or run out of time, I'll give the other teams a chance to answer.  The first two teams to make it to the bottom level will be one step closer to Olmec's Temple.  Olmec, we're now ready for your first question."

Olmec begins:
?Was Robert Hooke: A scientist, A mathematician, or A historian??
After a second, Tiffani buzzes in: ?A scientist.?
?Correct,? Olmec replies.
?Nice job Silver Snakes, step down,? Kirk comments, and the Silver Snakes move down onto the second level. ?Good move waiting for all the answers.  Olmec, next question.?
Olmec asks:
?Did Robert?s parents expect him to become: A knight, A minist???
Joe stomps down first this time: ?A? knight???
?Incorrect,? replies Olmec. ?The other two choices are: A minister, or A musician.?
James gongs in: ?A minister???
?That is correct,? answers Olmec, and the Silver Snakes move down another level.
?They?re just one step away from the Temple Games now,? Kirk narrates. ?But we?re looking for two teams.  Olmec, next question.?
Olmec asks:
?How many older brothers did Robert have: One, Two, or???
Mikayla hits the marking first: ?Three???
?That is correct,? answers Olmec, and the Purple Parrots move down a step.
?It?s anyone?s game at this point,? Kirk comments. ?Olmec, next question.?
Olmec then asks:
?Was Robert Hooke?s most important discovery???
Joe gongs in early again: ?The cell???
?That is correct,? says Olmec in response, and the Purple Parrots move down another step.
?Purple Parrots are now just one step away from the Temple Games,? Kirk explains. ?The other teams the Red Jaguars and the Blue Barracudas can catch up.  Next question.?
Olmec asks:
?Did Robert?s parents give up on his education because they thought he would never: Understand what they taught him, Use what they taught him, or Live t???
Mandy stomps down first: ?Live long enough to? become an adult and use it???
?Close enough,? Olmec replies, and the Blue Barracudas move down onto the second level.
?The Red Jaguars can catch up now,? Kirk comments. ?Olmec, next question.?
Olmec asks:
?Were Robert?s parents worried he wouldn?t live long because he had: Bad acne, Recurring headaches, or Monkeynucleosis??
Brett buzzes in as Olmec finishes reading the third choice: ?Headaches???
?That is correct,? Olmec replies, allowing the Blue Barracudas to walk down onto the third level.
?Next correct response and the Blue Barracudas are goin? to the Temple Games,? Kirk explains. ?Olmec, next question.?
Olmec asks:
?Did Robert discover cells by looking at a???
Mikayla interrupts him: ?Through a microscope???
?That is not one of our three choices,? Olmec replies. ?Did he look at a: Leaf, Cork, or Tree??
Brett gongs in: ?Cork.?
?That is correct!? shouts Olmec, and the Blue Barracudas move down onto the bottommost level.
?Okay, we need one more team,? Kirk comments. ?Who?s it gonna be: the Red Jaguars, the Silver Snakes or the Purple Parrots? Next question.?
Olmec asks:
?Did Robert Hooke view the cork through a???
Joe stomps in: ?Microscope.?
?That is correct!? Olmec replies, and the Purple Parrots join the Blue Barracudas on the bottom step.
?Okay, we?ve got our two teams!? Kirk comments, walking up the middle of the bottommost Step of Knowledge to stand behind the two qualifying teams. ?The Blue Barracudas and the Purple Parrots! They?re gonna go head-to-head in the Temple Games! The rest of you guys come down here.? The Red Jaguars and the Silver Snakes move further down the steps to meet with Kirk. ?These two teams gave it a great effort too.  We?ve got a nice gift for them and here?s what it is.? Tad, Tiffani, Kim and James will each be receiving a backpack provided by Eastpak.
Kirk is standing at the bottom of the Steps of Knowledge between the Blue Barracudas and the Purple Parrots. ?These teams are gonna be playing for the right to enter Olmec?s Temple,? he says, ?and guess what? They?re gonna do it right after this!? The camera pans up to the Shrine of the Silver Monkey, where the statue is fully assembled, and a sound effect like a monkey screeching plays as the camera fades to commercial.

Rediscovery EP: The Cork of Robert Hooke
« Reply #2 on: April 27, 2007, 03:49:24 PM »
Kirk is standing in front of the Crevasse between the Blue Barracudas and the Purple Parrots. ?Welcome back to Legends,? he says. ?Now?s the time when the glory goes to the fastest and the strongest, so let?s get to know these fast, strong teams.? He turns to talk to the brown-haired boy on the Blue Barracudas. ?On the Blue Barracudas we have Brett.  How old are you??
?Thirteen,? he replies.
?Now I understand you like swimming but you also collect pencils,? Kirk says. ?Are these sharpened pencils or???
?No, I never sharpen them,? Brett replies.
?How many do you have?? Kirk asks.
?Um? good question, I think about fifty??? answers Brett.
?I guess you?ll wanna count again to make sure,? Kirk says as he goes to interview the somewhat taller brown-haired girl on the far left of the screen. ?And also on the Blue Barracudas, we have Mandy.  Tell me how old are you??
?Fourteen,? she replies, barely having to look up to talk to Kirk.
?And now you like reading,? says Kirk, reading off of an index card, ?your favorite book right now is Great Expectations, but tell me about how you almost beat your school?s 50-yard dash speed record.?
?Well,? Mandy explains, ?we had Field Day last May last year, and one of the events was the 50-yard dash, I finished first, and they said I tied the school record.?
?And what was the time on that?? Kirk asks.
?6.6 seconds,? Mandy replies.
?Were you out of breath afterwards??
?Yeah.?
?These guys are definitely gonna be a fast team,? Kirk comments. ?Let?s hear it for the Blue Barracudas!? Brett and Mandy clap along with the audience as Kirk goes to talk to the tall boy just right of the middle of the screen. ?And on the Purple Parrots, we have Joe.  And how old are you??
?Fifteen,? Joe replies.
?And you play basketball but you also collect baseball cards,? Kirk says. ?How big?s your collection??
?About 500 cards,? replies Joe.
?And what?s your favorite team?? Kirk asks.
?The San Francisco Giants,? Joe answers.
Kirk then goes to interview the strawberry blond girl on the far right of the screen. ?And? Mikayla, how old are you??
?Twelve,? she answers.
?And you like to dance and you also collect necklaces,? he reads. ?You have a favorite??
?Yeah,? she replies, ?it?s this pinkish gold one, it?s like my hair, and it has a blue tear-drop jewel in the front.?
?Sounds pretty,? Kirk says. ?Let?s hear it for the Purple Parrots!? Joe and Mikayla applaud along with the audience.

?You guys ready to play?? Kirk asks.
?YEAH!? The players shout a response in unison.
?Okay then, so go get ready for the Temple Games,? Kirk says, pointing in different directions, and the players walk offscreen. ?Here?s what?s gonna happen here.  In the Temple Games, teams are competing for?" he opens a pouch and pulls out a small gold medallion to show to the camera? "Pendants of Life.  There?s three Temple Games? um, they?ll need those Pendants to protect them from the dreaded Temple Guards as they make their way through the Temple.  Olmec, tell us about Temple Game #1.?

Olmec begins:
?Robert Hooke?s less well-known discoveries included the properties of a spring.  However, it might have still been a big enough discovery to earn him money, and in this game, you will also use a spring to earn money.  When Kirk gives the signal, jump up, grab a coin off the ceiling, and come back down to place it in your bin.  Then, jump back up and do it again.
?The first player to grab all the coins? or the player that?s further along after 60 seconds? wins.?
The camera fades to Kirk. ?So I guess money doesn?t grow on trees anymore,? he says. ?Now it grows on the ceiling.  Anyway, let?s put 60 seconds on the clock.? The clock then appears in the bottom-right corner of the screen. ?On your mark, get set, GO!?
Joe and Mandy jump up and start reaching for the coins.  Due to his height, Joe can grab the coins much earlier than his opponent can.  He manages to get all twelve coins off the ceiling with 26 seconds left, while Mandy is still reaching for her ninth.
?Oh, that?s it!? Kirk shouts, running over to declare the winner. ?Purple Parrots got all their coins first, giving them a half Pendant of Life!? The audience applauds for a moment. ?Blue Barracudas can catch up in the next Temple Game, it?s also worth a half Pendant.  Olmec, tell us about it.?

Olmec continues:
?Robert had the microscope he was going to use in his famous experiment at hand, but if he didn?t, he might have had to make one himself.  In this game, you will grab the four lenses you will need to make your own microscope.  When Kirk gives the signal, crawl into the first cube, grab the first lens, then crawl back with it and place it in your bin.  Then, go back to get the next lens.  Along the way, you will have to avoid the swinging obstacles.
?The first player to grab all four lenses? or the player that?s grabbed the most lenses in 60 seconds? wins.?
The camera fades to Kirk. ?Okay, time to make some microscopes,? he says. ?Let?s set the clock for 60 seconds.? The clock now appears in the bottom-right corner of the screen. ?Let?s get the sandbags back in position, and then let?s start swinging them.? The spotters on the sides do just that. ?On your marks, get set, GO!?
Brett and Mikayla crawl out immediately, but Brett gets hit by a sandbag early on each of the first three tries.  Mikayla, on the other hand, manages to grab the first lens on her first try and bring it back, even if she moves a little slower than Brett.  Brett is a bit more cautious on his fourth try, and he brings back the first lens with 34 seconds left? just a second or two after Mikayla reaches her third lens.  But Mikayla waits a few seconds before beginning to crawl back with it.  Brett gets a couple more lenses and tries to make a comeback, but his repeated collisions with the sandbags kept him from getting the fourth lens before Mikayla got hers with 0:13 remaining.
?All right, that?s over!? Kirk announces, running over to declare the winner. ?Purple Parrots got all four of her lenses back before time ran out, so that gives her the half Pendant of Life!? The audience applauds again. ?So the Purple Parrots have a full Pendant, the Blue Barracudas yet to score, but this next game is worth a full Pendant.  Olmec, tell us.?

Olmec narrates:
?Like all scientists, Robert Hooke would have to use the scientific method during his experiments.  On the wall before you are the four major stages of the scientific method: Inference, Hypothesis, Data Collection, and Conclusion.  When Kirk gives the signal, load the slingshot and fire a ball, and your partner will catch the ball and stick it on the first stage.  Once you?ve covered a stage, it means it has been completed, and you can climb up and to complete the next stage.
?The team that completes all four stage first? or the team that?s further along in 60 seconds? wins.?
?This one?s for the Temple,? Kirk says. ?Blue Barracudas need it to tie.  Let?s put 60 seconds on the clock.? The clock appears onscreen. ?On your mark, get set, GO!?
Mandy and Mikayla each load their own slingshots and take aim at the targets labeled ?Inference.? Both cannonballs slip right out of their slingshots before the slingshots are released, then the girls reload.
Mandy catches a ball and covers ?Inference? on the third try with 0:46 remaining, but it takes Mikayla five tries and 24 seconds to get Joe to catch the ball and stick it on the first target.  Then, Mikayla keeps missing Joe again, while Brett covers ?Hypothesis? and then ?Data Collection? after catching two balls in a row.  Joe manages to cover ?Hypothesis,? but it?s too little, too late, as Brett covers the target at the top marked ?Conclusion? with just eight seconds remaining.  Kirk runs over to give the summary.
?Okay, Blue Barracudas got all four even before time ended,? he comments. ?That gives them a full Pendant, and we?re all tied up.  Let?s bring out the tiebreaker!?

The players run over to the tiebreaker pedestals and stand behind their gongs as directed by Kirk. ?Okay, here?s the tiebreaker rules.  In a minute, Olmec is gonna ask you a question.  If you think you know the answer, I want you to hit the gong in front of you.  We must accept your first response.  If you?re right, you and your partner will be going inside the Temple, but if you?re wrong or run out of time, I'll give the other team a chance.  All clear?"
The players nod in response.
"Okay, Olmec!" Kirk shouts. "What?s the final question??

Olmec asks:
?Robert Hooke was raised in which of these countries: France, England, or Germany??
Mandy hits the gong and guesses: ?England???
?That? is? correct,? Olmec replies, and the Blue Barracudas hug for a second as Kirk declares a winner.
?They fought hard, came from behind,? Kirk says, ?and the Blue Barracudas are goin? to the Temple!? Mandy high-fives Brett once with each hand. ?Purple Parrots gave it a gallant effort too, it came down to a tiebreaker.  Here?s what we?ve got for them.? Joe and Mikayla will each be receiving a small prize package from Reebok.
Kirk is standing behind Brett and Mandy at the tiebreaker pedestal. ?And now we?ll see if the Silver Snakes can make it through the Temple and retrieve the Cork of Robert Hooke,? Kirk comments, ?right after this!? The camera zooms in on the Blue Barracudas torch at the end of the Moat before fading to commercial.

Rediscovery EP: The Cork of Robert Hooke
« Reply #3 on: April 27, 2007, 03:53:06 PM »
Kirk is standing in front of the Temple's stairs with his hands on Brett and Mandy's shoulders. "Welcome back to Legends," he says to the camera before turning around to talk to Olmec. "Olmec!" he shouts. "The Blue Barracudas have proven themselves worthy and earned the right to enter your Temple.  But before they go to retrieve the Cork of Robert Hooke, maybe you could give them some clues about your Temple?"
Olmec begins to give the rundown:
?You could start by climbing through the Crevasse and climbing down into the Mine Shaft.  Throw enough rocks into the bucket to lift the slab, then race into the Crystal Cave.  Pull down the correct icicle, and you could choose to go up into the Dragon?s Lair, or into the Junction of the Secret Shafts.  If you escape, you might have a chance to enter the Switch Inferno.  Hit the right actuator to go upstairs, or plow through the wall and into the Dungeon.
?There, climb up the Pharaoh?s Secret Passage into the Dark Overlook, and correctly place all three torches to open the door to the ShrIIIIIIIIne of the Silver Monkey! Assemble the statue and you may be headed for the Knights? Barracks!  Place the sword in the correct sheath, but be careful? one of the suits of armor could be possessed by the spirit of a Temple Guard! If they grab you, you'll have to give up a Pendant of Life! Next, race up to the Laser Light Room, find the right combination to unleash the power of the laser, and run across the Bridge.  Then, pass through the Room of the Temple Gongs, race down the stairs and back through the Temple Gate.  The choices are yours and yours alone.? Olmec pauses for a second here. "You won 1 Pendant in the Temple Games.  Who's going first??
"I am!" Mandy shouts enthusiastically, waving her hand in the air.
"Very well, Mandy!" replies Olmec as Kirk hands out the Pendants of Life. "When Kirk gives the signal, you'll race through the gates into the Temple and make your way towards the Cork of Robert Hooke.  Hidden inside the Temple are three ventilation shafts which let out in the Junction of the Secret Shafts, as well as Temple Guards assigned to protect three specific rooms.  You can trade your Pendant for an extra life and go on, but if you're caught without a Pendant, you'll be taken out of the Temple? and it'll be Brett's turn to enter and try his luck.  Hidden somewhere in the Temple are the two halves of your Pendant.  If you can find both of them, you will get an extra life.  If you can reach the Cork, all the doors of the Temple will instantly unlock, and the Temple Guards will vanish.  Return through the gates with the Cork of Robert Hooke in three minutes, and you will both be handsomely rewarded? and here's how:"
?   For just making it into the Temple, they?re both going to get a camping gear package from Outdoor Products.
?   If they can reach the Cork within three minutes, they?re also going to get $500 Toys ?R? Us gift cards.
?   And if they can get the Cork of Robert Hooke out of the Temple before 3 minutes is up, they?ll both be going to Krystal Cancun! Krystal Cancun, the resort for beach lovers, with excursions to Mayan ruins.  It?s rich in history and rich in pleasure.  Krystal Cancun, for a prize package totaling $13,498!

"Mandy told me she wants to go to Cancun," Kirk says, excited. "So let?s get her ready.  Put your mouthpieces in.  Let?s lower the gate, Olmec!"
Olmec moans as he lowers the gate.
"And set the clock for three minutes." The clock then appears onscreen. "There it is.  On your mark, get set, GO!"

Mandy races up into the Temple and into the Room of Temple Gongs. ?There she goes!? Kirk shouts. ?With just one Pendant! How long can that take ?em?? Mandy hits down on the rightmost gong in the front of the room, and it lights up blue, opening the door to the Bridge. ?She?s making some excellent time here!? Kirk comments as Mandy leaves the Room of Temple Gongs and sprints across the Bridge.  She signals to Brett as she hits the Laser Light Room actuator, then races up into the next room. (2:41) She puts the sections of the metal column in position, and the dome emits the laser beam signaling that the objective is complete.  The slab blocking the passageway between the Laser Light Room and the Knights? Barracks lowers, and she races on into the next room. (2:25) She picks up the sword and puts it into the camera-right sheath, and the door leading into the Shrine of the Silver Monkey opens.
?This girl?s fast, I like her style!? Kirk comments as Mandy sets aside the half Pendant on the platform where the monkey is assembled. ?She?s got two minutes left, she?s only two rooms away!? Mandy grabs all three pieces of the monkey in one sweep and puts the statue together, opening the doors. (1:57) She climbs down into the Switch Inferno and begins hitting actuators there.  She begins with the wall facing the Junction of the Secret Shafts, and then moves on to the back wall of the room.  The eighth actuator on the back wall opens the door, and she runs into the Junction of the Secret Shafts and to the front of the room to grab the CORK!
?She?s GOT it! That was fast!? Kirk comments. (1:34) ?All the doors are open, she?s just gotta come on back!? Mandy races through the Crystal Cave and the Mine Shaft, taking the lower crawl tube to enter the Crevasse. ?She?s lost in the frozen depths of the Crevasse!? Mandy dives down deeper into the sealed-up Cave of Sighs entrance, and a few seconds later, holds up the Cork. ?Oh, I guess it fell down there,? Kirk says as Mandy starts heading back up in the Crevasse.  She works her way up to the slide and crawls up it, then passes through the gate with 1:02 left!
?She did it!? Kirk shouts as Mandy runs over and meets an excited Brett. ?All by herself! Unbelievable! And look at this? show them your Pendant!? Mandy holds up her wrist. ?No Temple Guard?s gonna take that away from her! Unbelievable! You got it all! You got the camping gear? you both got the camping gear? you both got the ?R? Us gift cards? you?re both going to Cancun! We had a great time here, I know I did.  See ya next time for another exciting Legends of the Hidden Temple! Buh-bye!? Kirk, Brett and Mandy group hug, and the camera shows the rooms of the Temple that Mandy had cleared from various angles as the credits roll.

Rediscovery EP: The Cork of Robert Hooke

Temple Run Summary
Episode 29px]

Name of Artifact: The Cork of Robert Hooke
Season: 2
Layout: 2 (6 overall)
Result: Made it!
Time Remaining: 1:02
Team: Blue Barracudas
Pendants Won: 1
Location of Artifact: The Junction of the Secret Shafts

When I first saw this Temple Run, I was absolutely blown away.  Mandy had an excellent map of the Temple, was very fast, as her pre-Temple Games interview foreshadowed, and also, she never met a single Temple Guard! It was very much like "The Enormous Iron Nose Ring of Babe" (a second-season episode from the original show), except that she entered only one "hit the actuator" room instead of three, and took a somewhat smaller amount of time putting the monkey together.

She grabbed the Cork with a massive 1:34 remaining, and everything looked good for now, but something odd happened as she headed out.  Mandy dove deeper into the Crevasse, which, as her waving the Cork in the air hinted at, was because she accidentally dropped the Cork down the old Cave of Sighs entrance and had to chase after it.  Even with that unexpected twist, she still made it out with just over a minute remaining.  And because of all this, Mandy gets my vote for best female Temple Runner ever.

Trivia and Records:
This episode features one of the smallest artifacts on record, as well as one of the quickest victories to date.  It's also the first episode in The Rediscovery's history in which no Temple Guards appear.
