The Heart Room / Most pointless room ever

I'd say the Cave Of Size/ledges were pointless. Most episodes where a player entered through that room a temple guard would be there, (and would really mess up the temple run if the team was caught by 3 temple guards). Plus, by Seasons 2 and 3 that room was rarely used.

Oh, it was used in Seasons 2 and 3, but only to snatch away a team's hope of winning if they tried exiting through that room, which they often did.

The Heart Room / "Legends" in HD

Yeah, I do too. Legends always seems relatively fuzzy for me through digital cable, and it would be wonderful if it could have been taped in HD at the time (which didn't really exist then, but who cares?). The set would look incredible.

Forgot my honorable mention. The Room of the Harmonic Convergence. How many times did a player step on every possible note combo, and still couldn't get the door to open?

That wasn't inherently a bad room; however, the poor... how should one say... physical components crucial to the correct functionality of the room ruined its potential value.

Lame was the dungeon. It's as if they forgot a budget to theme that room, so they just threw in a skeleton and called it a dungeon. Also, the Holes of Python room was simply a time-waster. In all other rooms, a skilled contestant could complete the objective significantly faster than an unskilled one; in the Holes of Python, however, that was not really the case. And seriously, what an odd name!

Can you remind me about him? I'm having a brain blackout

Yeah, sure. He was a guy with a moustache (I'm not kidding) who, after either the first or the second temple game, did this absolutely stupid-looking pose to the camera, like a sarcastic ''Hee hee, it's me! I'm on TV, mom!'' sort of pose, waving his hands in small circles while doing so (if I remember correctly). It's tough to explain it without seeing the episode in front of me, but it was clear he had no intention of trying hard in the show. It really ruined the episode for me.

I called him an ''idiot'' in my summary of the episode out of disgust.

Oh, I forgot the Green Monkey on the Silk Sash of Mulan... He was the only player to intentionally act stupid. I'm so glad he didn't win the temple games.

Is Chris Reynolds site the "lotht 2001" site?? 'Cuz if so, I have a lot of trouble getting to that site as well.
That's the one. Whenever I can access the site, it refreshes about three times a second, preventing me from clicking any links. Not sure why that happens. Didn't used to.

When I made my site, it wasn't really intended to be 'better,' so-to-speak, than Chris', but it has grown hugely in the last two years, to the point where some people have said it is. I'm not in a position to compare the two, though.

Kim from John Henry's Lost Hammer--She kept banging on the doors, thinking that was how you progressed. As soon as I saw that, I gave up hope on the entire run.
I still think the guard in the Heart Room in that run was put there simply as a mercy killing. Watch how long it takes the guard to emerge!

Ryann from The Walking Stick of Harriet Tubman--The girl ran into the entrance her partner didn't use. Her time expired seconds later.

Actually, she was captured and removed from the temple in the top-right room, adding insult to injury.

Yeah, those two from the 'Cricket Cage' episode were the worst in my book.

Tony being a tard with the Medusa head.  (The Stone Head of the Evil King)

...Is this the only episode where there were four snakes that needed to be put in?

I think there may have been another, for some reason. It's a good idea that they changed it, though. Otherwise there would be way more temple runs like his. I feel sorry for the guy because he had to get stuck up on the most frustrating and under-tested room in the temple.

The Heart Room / Favorite Season?
« on: June 27, 2006, 07:22:06 AM »
Season 2 was definitely my favorite, only because of the variety in the rooms throughout it. It also had some memorable temple runs.

I would have picked Season 3 second, actually, because the theming and camerawork was especially well-done. It had a different amosphere around it, which was great. Unfortunately, the great setting was undersupported by the inconsistency in temple runs. It seemed like every run was either a 'Dried Apple Half of William Tell' or an 'Ivory Hunting Horn of Roland.' The temple games, especially that huge series of episodes with the boring rock-pushing game, could have also used some more variety.

Season 1 I just didn't like. It felt really unprofessional, and a large number of the temple runs were absolutely terrible ('Cricket Cage of Khan,' 'Blackbeard's Treasure Map,' 'Elizabeth the First's Golden Ship,' and the like). Luckily, we were spared those episodes in the latter seasons.

The Treasure Room / Make Up Your Own Rooms

The Room of the Golden Goblets -- You have to take a decanter of water from one side of the room, and pour it in the correct one of four goblets at the front of the room. Only then will the doors open.

The Room of the Ancient Hieroglyphs -- This room has hieroglyphs inscribed on square buttons all oround the room. A tablet retriveable at the back of the room shows the correct order you must push the hieroglyphs in to open the doors. This is a challenging room becuase you must search for the correct symbols out of all the others.

That's all I have for now...

The Heart Room / You or your Partner?
« on: June 27, 2006, 06:38:15 AM »
This seems to be a pretty interesting question in general: If you were on the show and you made it to the temple, would you go in first or send your partner in first, assuming he or she was an average player?

The thing is, there's a common philosophy that ''you should never send the slow-witted player in first,'' but there's also the fact that going into the temple first likely means that you will be taken out first as well, having traversed only three rooms.

I, personally, would go in second because I'd probably pass through more rooms. I'd tell my partner everything I know about the temple, and hope that she would agree to go in first. After she gets taken out, I'd act like Mr. Turney. 8)
