Do you recognize this man?

The Pit / Ask a Contestant!
« on: August 10, 2007, 07:19:24 PM »
There is a very good chance I will be having an interview with Katie, the Green Monkey on the Mystical Spellbook of the Imperial Wizard episode in a few days. I've conducted interviews before, but I find myself asking the same questions each and every time. I'd like to throw some variety in the mix, but it can't all come from me. That's why I want to know,

If you were talking to Katie right now, what would you ask her?

I'll take the best five or so questions and send them off to be answered. Submit as many as you like. :) (Yes, you will receive credit for an accepted question; don't worry.) I've talked to her and she says she is ready--now I just have to make sure she'll answer them in a timely manner.

The Heart Room / Legends on Nick Discussion
« on: May 11, 2007, 07:04:29 PM »
What will the return of Legends to the network, if it has indeed happened, mean? Is this where Legends will find its home after Nick GaS is gone?

(Read the announcement in this forum if you haven't already.)

Look what is on at 7:30AM every weekday next week!

As unbelievable as it may be... well, judge the possibilities for yourself. This isn't totally confirmed yet--it may be a mistake--but I can only hope it's the truth. Discuss this in the Heart Room in this thread!

(A very special thanks to Jon for pointing this out, too!)

Hehe... Well, I, uh... don't know what to do with this topic. :P

It's going to the Dark Forest, spam or no.

Soundstage 18 / If you couldn't be on Legends...
« on: January 21, 2007, 07:32:00 PM »
I'm bored and I feel like making a poll. Just a question out of curiosity to see what other shows people like... If you couldn't be on Legends for whatever reason, but had the option to be a contestant on any other Nick game show, which one would it be?

(I couldn't include What would You Do or Figure it Out because I didn't have enough poll choices available, and I figured those shows were the farthest from a traditional game show.)

I would choose Global GUTS because it looked to be a really exciting and fun show for its contestants. I'd also love the pressure of representing the country.

The Heart Room / Which would You Take?
« on: November 30, 2006, 04:42:50 PM »
Just figured I'd ask a random question to you all... Say you got an exclusive trip into a shed in the back lots of Universal Studios Florida today, filled with every Legends prop there was on the show eleven years before.

The question: If you were to take some things with you back to your home, what would be your top three choices of props?

I, personally, would first take the Silver Monkey, followed by a Pendant of Life and then a pot from the King's Storeroom. Hopefully there will be some varied answers out there...

The Treasure Room / Note about the Season 5 Fan Fics
« on: September 09, 2006, 07:06:32 AM »
Okay, you might remember that little discussion that happened in the episode directory thread a while back. I've decided that the next round (fifth season) of episodes should be much like the past one, with a maximum of 10 layouts. However, all layouts used in the fifth season will be open for use by anyone else without permission. This will limit the number of layouts ruled by individuals and encourage more people to write episodes.

This is the way I'm leaning right now, but if you think this is simply an awful idea, you can say so in this thread and I may reconsider if enough people say no.

The Treasure Room / The Melted Candle of Descartes
« on: September 03, 2006, 02:42:25 PM »
Note: A more complete episode summary may be created in the future. For now, I would prefer just to write the general episode summary.

Name of Artifact: Melted Candle of Descartes
Season: 4
Layout: 4
Result: Ran out of time
Time Remaining: N/A
Team: Blue Barracudas
Pendants Won: 2
Location of Artifact: The Jesters' Court
Temple Diagram:

Additional Notes:

This episode seemed to have its share of stupid and smart players alike. The first three teams to complete the Moat challenge, which in this case was the classic "ancient Babylonian wheels" set-up, did so with flying colors, the Orange Iguanas finishing first, the Silver Snakes second and the Blue Barracudas not far behind. However, the remaining teams had some significant difficulty traversing the rings. They would slip off and return to the start multiple times... I suppose they just severely underestimated the challenge. Just as Kirk's commentary began to transform into passages of rambling, the exhausted Red Jaguars finally struck the gong.

But they weren't to last long, however. The Steps ended in much the same fashion. The Blue Barracudas managed to finish first and the Orange Iguanas second, with the Silver Snakes answering one question correctly on the way.

The Temple Games were more or less domininated by the Blue Barracudas, composed of Jerry and Mandy. The first game involved  retrieving words from the cubby holes of the giant spider-web like-wall to then spell out the phrase "I think, therefore I am." Not only did Jerry of the Blue Barracudas finish first, but his opponent, Mike, had placed two words out of order. The second challenge was meant to resemble some sort of dream Descartes supposedly had, whereby the players, Mandy of the Blue Barracudas and Elise of the Orange Iguanas, had to hold onto the galloping "demon." Mandy did fall off once early in the game, but Elise consistently fell off in the lst 25 seconds or so. I have a feeling she was getting a tad bit dizzy, or sick. I can't blame her, to be honest. The final temple game was almost a carbon-copy of another challenge earlier in the show's lifespan. Players had to climb up to the top of the giant stairway and press a button to illuminate an electronic candle. Here, most likely out of desparation, the Orange Iguanas were pretty speedy, but one of the feet of a player (I forget who) accidentally broke the foothold that was given to him or her right before the top step, which delayed them just enough to let the Blue Barracudas ascend to the top for the win.

I know that the production crew likes to use unique layouts, but this one made a very smart team look downright stupid. Jerry started off to the Crypt, were he abruptly met a temple guard. The only door that opened here, after Jerry tried all three skeletons twice, was the door to the Ledges, where he promptly descended to. Here, he was forced through the rarely-used lower tube to the Pit of the Pendulum. When he pushed over the column with his bare hands, all of the doors from the room opened, including the Crypt door which he could not open earlier. He moved into the Laser Light Room, completed the objective with ease, and then climbed up to the Chamber of the Sacred Markers. Here, he had a bit of difficulty attaching the correct markers to the wall, but not enough to cause a significant delay. When the objective was finally completed, Jerry fell a bit confused (and so was I, to be honest). The only door that opened did so  directly back into the Pit of the Pendulum! He hesitated at first, but eventually went through the open door, and then took the steps to the King's Storeroom. Just as he smashed the first pot (which had the key in it), he was caught by his second temple guard. Mandy was surely one of the most observant players the how ever had. She strolled up to the Crypt with roughly 1:10 remaining and took the now-open door to the Pit, climbed across the top, raced up to the Storeroom, and continued to smash the remaining two pots. Obviously, she had not seen the key drop from her partner's hands when he was captured (it is a long distance to look). She scrounged around for the key for a good thirty seconds (which was partially submerged in other clay pottery pieces on the ground), and after finding it, tried all three pedestals with it. The door at last opened to the Room of the Ancient Warriors. She was strangely hesitant to pull down on the armor, possibly because she knew there may be a guard behind... With the final seconds of the run ticking down, she tried the third armor suit and was caught by a guard, who held her until time expired. The only decision I can think of that would have saved the team time is if Jerry had gone immediately up to the King's Storeroom when he pushed over the column. But this is difficult to ask of a player whose sights are so strongly set on the artifact.

I don't know why the crew had to be so devious in this episode. Perhaps they saw that Mandy and Jerry were a smart team and wanted to test their wits? Either way, this was a good temple run, but it was difficult to see such smart Barracudas overcome.

EDIT: I just reliazed one of the rooms I used was inconsistent with The Green Monkey's original layout. I'm thinking of a way to fix that...

The Heart Room / The Origin of the Temple Run
« on: July 17, 2006, 08:14:57 AM »
I was just thinking about this a minute ago... how did the phrase ''temple run'' even come into existence? Was it ever used in the show? Why is it mentioned on every site that covers the show?

The Treasure Room / How to Make Temple Diagrams Nicklegends-Style
« on: July 13, 2006, 07:04:51 PM »
I've received a few requests, explicit and implicit, for a quick tutorial on how to make temple diagrams the way they are on my site. So, without further ado, here are some simple steps to make temple diagrams. Of course, you're not forced to use them by any means, but if you want to use them, go ahead.

For Windows...

1. Download one of the following files to your disk: Click here for the style on my site, or here for the version that was used in the show. (To download, right click on the picture, and click ''save to disk,'' or a similar command.)

2. Right-click the icon of the picture you downloaded, and select ''Edit.'' From here, you can add whatever symbols or paths you need. I use a pink line on my site, large blue boxes for temple guards, a yellow circle for the artifact, and a green X for an acquired half-pendant of life.

3. Save your file.

4. Upload it to just about any internet webspace provider.

5. Embed it into your post by using the image tag, like so, linking to the location you uploaded the file to:
Code: [Select]
[img]filename.gif[/img]
6. Sit back and relax as people marvel at your splendid creation!

The Moat / FAQ Questions
« on: July 02, 2006, 08:47:41 PM »
It seems that the FAQ questions accessible from the navigation bar don't seem to work when clicked--at least not for me. Is there any way this can be fixed?
