The Heart Room / LOTHT's Secondary Announcer??
« on: August 04, 2009, 05:01:23 AM »
The credits in each episode clearly state:

Announcer/Olmec
Dee Baker

May I ask, why is there sometimes some deep-voiced announcer that overdubs some of the prizes, such as the Nerds package, the baseball commercial for Nestle Quik, and some of the Skechers $50 Savings Bond commercials? And why would they need an overdub?

Also, if anyone knows who did the overdub, could you please tell me? Man, this has been bugging me for years...

The Treasure Room / [COLLAB] - The Burnt Torch of the Ancient Olympian
« on: August 04, 2009, 04:16:16 AM »
SOME NOTES BEFORE I BEGIN:
This fanfic is a collaborative project between me and The Bamboo Forest. I will design the Moat Crossing, the legend, the Temple Games, and the Temple Rooms, while TBF actually writes the whole thing. So you'll be seeing some different people post, just to warn you beforehand.

I don't plan to write any fanfics on my own, mainly because I suck. XD However, that doesn't mean I'll make TBF juggle collabs with me and his own series. These will probably be quite rare and occur every once in awhile. With all that mentioned, enjoy this fanfic!

Oh and please, no comments until all of it is up. I'll inform everyone when it's done in the final part of the fanfic, but it may take a little while.

The camera makes its way through lush greenery, and the palms move away as ambient animal noises are heard. Portions of a temple are shown, and suddenly the jungle ends, and we see Olmec?s face light up in a pale orange glow and shout, ?LEGENDS OF THE HIDDEN TEMPLE!?

Two pendant halves crash together on the screen to form the show?s logo, and the camera shifts to focus on the temple and its rooms. ?With your guide, Kirk Fogg?and here he is now!?

The logo fades as Kirk drops down from the rafters on a rope. He unbuckles his harness, then walks up the Steps of Knowledge to begin his narration. ?Thank you very much, thank you, nice to see you! Nice to see you, Olmec. Welcome to Legends of the Hidden Temple. The rooms are filled with lost treasures that are protected by mysterious Mayan temple guards. Only Olmec knows the legend behind each of the treasures in his temple?which one are we gonna hear about today??

Olmec replies: ?The Legend of the Burnt Torch of the Ancient Olympians.?

?Ooh, the Burnt Torch of the Ancient Olympians!? says Kirk. ?Well, the legend is set and one of these six teams will have the chance to retrieve that Burnt Torch. Will it be The Red Jaguars??

At this point, the camera pans through the teams, pausing to focus on each team as they are introduced.

?The Blue Barracudas??
?The Green Monkeys??
?The Orange Iguanas??
?The Purple Parrots??
?Or the Silver Snakes??

?They?re going to have to pass some tough mental and physical tests,? continues Kirk, ?and in the end, only one team will have the right to enter Olmec?s temple, but first they have to cross the Moat, and Olmec?s gonna tell us how they have to do it today.?

Olmec instructs:
?Before you lies an ancient wooden zipline across the Moat. When Kirk gives the signal, reach up, grab the handle, and slide down to the other side. If you fall into the Moat, or you stop before you reach the other side, you must go back and try again. Once the first player crosses, throw the handle back to your partner, who will then slide across. When both partners reach the other side, run over and hit the gong!?

Kirk hits the Purple Parrots? gong which lights up a soft purple glow inside the squares on the gong.

?The first four teams to hit their gongs will go on to?the next round,? finishes Olmec. ?Alright then, teams,? says Kirk, ?are you ready??

The teams excitedly reply, ?Yeeaahhhh!?

Kirk then asks, ?Olmec, are you ready??

?Let?s rock,? replies Olmec.

?Okay teams,? says Kirk. ?On your marks, get set, GO!?

All six boys attempt to grab the wooden handle; the rather short one on the Silver Snakes falling into the Moat immediately. The rest all slide across to the other side, but the zipline dosen?t seem as well-oiled as it should be?the Orange Iguanas, Purple Parrots, and Red Jaguars are all sent back, dragging the handle along as they return to the start. The Blue Barracudas and the Green Monkeys have enough momentum to get to the other side though, and both throw the handle back to their partner with great strength. By that time, the Purple Parrots climb out of the water, closely followed by the Orange Iguanas.

The Silver Snakes? boy crosses successfully, and throws the zipline, right as the first team in is revealed, it?s? ?The Blue Barracudas!? shouts Kirk as they slam down on their gong with all four of their hands. They?re closely followed by the Green Monkeys, and then the Purple Parrots. ?That was fast!? says Kirk, ?but we?re looking for one more team?it looks like it may be?THE ORANGE IGUANAS! Stop right there! We?ve got our four teams! Going onto the Steps of Knowledge The Purple Parrots?and the Orange Iguanas?and the Green Monkeys?and the Blue Barracudas. The Red Jaguars and the Silver Snakes gave it a great effort, they?re not going away empty handed! We?ve got a great gift for them, and here?s what it is.?

Dee reads the prize:
?A prize package from Nestle Quik! Hey kids, here?s an easy act to follow?turn an ordinary glass of milk into a thick choclatey treat, and create a disappearing act of your own. Nestle Quik?it?s magic in the making!?

The Heart Room / A little something that I noticed...
« on: August 02, 2009, 03:55:19 AM »
Looking at the 2007 April Fools Day threads, I looked at TAW's mocking that Robbie couldn't beat a girl. True, they are tied for least time in the temple for a frontrunner, but did anyone notice that he was actually right that Robbie couldn't beat a girl? Look at this...

? Robbie only completed one objective; Annie completed two and even started pulling the vines
? Annie had to run up an extra two sets of stairs
? The objectives that Annie completed are somewhat more challenging than sitting on a plastic seat
? Annie?s guard cost more delays than Robbie?s

So, it might not be big, but it's true....even though "ANNIE DONT HAVE A COCK", she can't be beaten by Robbie.

Sorry for a sorta pointless thread. =/

Soundstage 18 / Make Up Your Own WWYD Pie Contraptions
« on: July 22, 2009, 05:22:48 AM »
As little activity as these threads get, I'm going to start another one.

Pie Playground ? The ?victim? is strapped to a mechanical see-saw, which will suddenly lower the player into a large pool of whipped cream (the cream should cover the average height player?s legs up to their ankles, at least).

Pie Swing ? The ?victim? is strapped into a large swinging seat. It will be pulled up, and then released to be swung into a giant pie which the player will crash into legs-first.

The Treasure Room / My Temple Layout - COMMENTS Wanted!
« on: July 16, 2009, 05:47:27 AM »
After years of room creating, we have my very own layout of original rooms. I would really like comments on this, on what rooms you like, don't like, and anything else you'd like to say about it. Thanks! =D

The Armory ? Just like any other room occupying this space, there?s three identical objects to choose from, and in this case, they are sheathed swords on the skeletons (re-used from the Crypt). The correct sword?once drawn out of its scabbard?would open one or more doors.

The Valley of Shadows ? No objective here; just a pit of foam blocks and a very rocky red paintjob on the walls and rock slabs on either side. A rope hangs in the middle to allow players to swing across the gap.

The Room of the Eternal Flame ? There is a rock column in the center of the room, and three torches lie in the back. The player entering must take the correct of the three torches and touch it to the tip of the column. When this is accomplished, the tip of the column glows an intense red, causing an ambient glow around the entire room as the doors open.

The Forgotten Fountain ? Here, a rusted fountain stands in the center of the room, and on the fountain, there are three holes. In the front of the room there is a small stone statue of an elf, and the player must place it on the correct hole. Once the elf is correctly placed, the doors will open.

The Chamber of the Ancient Chalices ? In the back of the room are three chalices. The player must place the three chalices in the three pedestals, but there isn?t a particular order to place them, nor do they have to be ?correctly placed?. Once all the three chalices are placed, the doors will open.

The Treasury of the Golden Monkey ? On the pedestal at the front of the room, the silver monkey statue has been painted gold, and in the back of the room, there are three large jewels (one ruby, one emerald, and one sapphire). Once the players press down on the correct jewel, the room goes dark and the monkey glows while the doors open.

The Crow?s Nest ? In this room, there are three telescopes hung on the walls of this room. The players must place one of the telescopes in the correct telescope holder to release the doors.

Shipwreck Falls ? The Pharaoh?s Secret Passage hasn?t changed except for heavy pirate theming including a jolly rancher flag being hung at the slide?s entrance and the slide being painted a shade of shimmering metallic gold.

The Galley? Takes place of the Quicksand Bog? The Galley is a heavily-rethemed Quicksand Bog with treasure themed ball-pit balls (colored gold, red, and green to represent gold and jewels) as well as various traces of pirate theming (cargo net, pirate flags, etc.) The objective is the same?to get out of the room by either climbing Shipwreck Falls, going into the Shrine of the Silver Monkey, or smashing down the stone wall.

The Wishing Well ? There is a long metal pole wedged between the back wall and a concrete support in the center of the room, and a well under the bar?s center. Players turn the handle to raise a bucket which contains a magnetic key. Alternatively, the players may choose the breakaway wall to The Galley.

The Rainforest ? There?s a ton of plants and tropical flowers covering the ground and walls of this room, and somewhere in the back wall are three holes with snake heads protruding from them. The players need to pull out the correct snake to open the doors.

The Tribal Teepee ? In the room, there are three totem poles and each is color coded?one red, one green, and one blue. However, they are missing their caps, and they lie in the back of the room. Once all three poles are capped, the doors will open.

The Crystal Cave ? A blue-tinted clear plastic maze of stalagmites, stalactites, and ledges to slow down players. To exit this room, contestants hit the actuator of its corresponding door.

Once again, comments are greatly appreciated! Thanks! :D

The Jesters' Court / The "What are you Watching?" Thread
« on: July 14, 2009, 05:06:47 AM »
We've had the "What are you listening to?" thread, so now it's time for the "What are you watching?" thread. A lot of people have encoded episodes downloaded onto their computer, but even if you're using the comp and watching TV at the same time, just post it here.

Right now, I'm watching the first episode of My Family's Got GUTS.

The Jesters' Court / The Official Off-topic Thread (TOOT)

The point of this "game" is to say something completely off-topic from the post above you.

Yesterday (or should I say two days ago?), I rode the Joker's Jinx roller coaster 15 times - 9 rides with my brother, 2 rides with my dad, and 4 rides on my own with some stranger. xD

Soundstage 18 / Which Crag was better?Aggro or Mega?
« on: July 07, 2009, 06:02:43 AM »
Basically what the title says :D

And no, not just for "which name sounds the coolest"! State reasons, please.

I liked Mega Crag the best because it seemed the most challenging of the three, I mean? just Boulder Canyon itself looked like an improvement from the basic rock-climbing based Aggro Crag used in the early seasons. The "petrified lava" (the metal pointy things) added much more challenge, and it was much more disorienting with the Nuclear Flying Crystals in place of the rockslide. And of course, you mustn't forget the straight-up (even obtuse to some extent) rock climb up to victory? Stone Ledge. The players actually had to climb an overhang to the top. Not to mention that the Mega Crag looked better than the color-coded Aggro Crag. It was nice to have the lights off in Season Three.

For that, I prefer the Mega Crag over the others.
