Title: The "NickSplat!" unknown frequency episode log
Post by: The Silver Monkey on September 24, 2015, 02:49:08 PM
Hopefully this'll be more frequent that T90sAAT ever was!

Quote
NEW YORK – Sept. 24, 2015 – Millennials who crave the iconic Nickelodeon shows of their childhood, including Kenan & Kel, Rugrats, Hey Arnold! and more, can rejoice.  Starting Monday, Oct. 5, Nickelodeon will throw back to the ‘90s every day with the launch of “The Splat,” a new multiscreen content destination spanning television, seven social media platforms and a dedicated web site aggregating the most loved Nick content from the 1990s and beyond.  “The Splat” will dive deep to create a retro experience filled with landmark Nickelodeon programs; classic programming stunts like Nick or Treat, U-Pick and Super Toy Run; the recreation of specific days of programming as they aired in the ‘90s; and original promos and interstitials, including the Doo-wop Dinosaurs and the Opera Lady.  “The Splat” will roar to life across all platforms on Monday, Oct. 5, launching that night on television on TeenNick from 10 p.m. – 6 a.m. (ET/PT).

Celebrating the characters and shows that are definitional to millennials who grew up in the ‘90s, “The Splat” will consist of:

TV block - an eight-hour rotating TV lineup airing daily on TeenNick from 10 p.m.-6 a.m. (ET/PT);
TheSplat.com – a fan-driven site built around social conversations;
Emoji Keyboard – a fully integrated Splat-branded keyboard featuring emoticons, stickers and GIFs;
Social Media Community – a robust social presence on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Tumblr, Twitter, Vine and YouTube.

“We have been listening closely to our first generation of Nick kids that are craving the great characters and shows they grew up with watching Nickelodeon in the ‘90s,” said Cyma Zarghami, President of Viacom Kids and Family Group. “We designed ‘The Splat’ with fans and their requests in mind, which means we’re bringing together these beloved series and a high level of digital engagement to give fans a retro media experience they can’t get anywhere else.”

In creating “The Splat,” TeenNick enlisted a group of current millennial employees and formed “The Splat Pack.”  With a genuine affinity for Nickelodeon, “The Splat Pack” provides creative guidance, new ideas and helps develop content for the block.

“The Splat” TV Block on TeenNick (10 p.m. – 6 a.m. ET/PT):

“The Splat’s” rotating TV lineup on TeenNick will have weekly themes and monthly programming stunts featuring hit ‘90s animated and live-action series including All That, Angry Beavers, Are You Afraid of the Dark, CatDog, Clarissa Explains It All, Hey Arnold!, Hey Dude, Kenan & Kel, Ren & Stimpy, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Rocko’s Modern Life, Rugrats, Salute Your Shorts and The Wild Thornberrys, with additional series rolling out throughout the year.  At launch, “The Splat” will feature themed weeks and stunts like:

First Time for Everything (week of Oct. 5) – first two episodes of fan-favorite animated and live-action series and game shows;
Rugrats Reptar Takeover (week of Oct. 12) – best of Rugrats episodes featuring Reptar;
Hey Arnold! Live from the Stoop (week of Oct. 19) – Stoop Kid-centric episodes;
Nick or Treat (week of Oct. 26) – call-in event where lucky callers get 40 seconds to choose from six doors, collecting tricks and treats along the way, plus scary and spooky themed animation episodes.

Judging by the description of "First Time for Everything", the two Legends episodes should be (date/time TBD):

The Golden Cup of Belshazzar  :mrred:
Galileo's Cannonball  :mrsilver:

Hey look, a promo with Legends in it!: https://www.facebook.com/thesplat/videos/vb.664432390346832/768646933258710/?type=2&theater (https://www.facebook.com/thesplat/videos/vb.664432390346832/768646933258710/?type=2&theater)

Saw The Shriveled Hand of Afua, The Enormous Iron Nose Ring of Babe, The Milk Bucket of Freydis, and The Golden Chains of Zenobia in there. Still trying to figure out what episodes the moat clips are from.

EDIT: The ring moat is also from Afua, and the net moat is from The Golden Spider Web of Robert the Bruce.

Unsure still of the episodes, but tomorrow night (Friday October 9), Legends will be on for a full hour after an hour of Double Dare

Watch it be Henry VIII's Great Seal and The Golden Goblet of Attila the Hun. Or if they want to be really mean, they can include The Bifocal Monocle of One-Eyed Jack in place of Great Seal.  :twisted:

TIME CHANGE ALERT!

The 11:30PM episode has been moved to 1AM, with the 1AM Doug episode going the other way. No idea why.

And the first episode is....

10/9 11 PM: Blackbeard's Treasure Map.  :roll:  :roll:  :roll:  :roll:  :roll:  :roll:  :roll:  :roll:  :roll:  :roll:  :roll:  :roll:  :roll:  :roll:

Not even going to bother watching.

I can only guess that Dead Man's Hand is the other episode.

At least it's not another repeat of Great Seal. Not that it's a bad episode, but I'd rather not see that one for a while due to how much T90sAAT showed it when given the chance.

About 99.9% sure the second episode will be Belshazzar. We shall see!

I forgot Belshazzar was the second episode, not Dead Man's Hand. That was my mistake.

And just as I suspected:

10/10 1 AM: The Golden Cup of Belshazzar

If they want to get kids excited with Legends, they should show Applewood Amulet and Lucky Pillow, not the two worst episodes ever to  make it to air.

I wouldn't say they're the two worst episodes ever. Blackbeard's only fatal flaw was the temple run and Belshazzar's only problem is that it's not memorable. The team in the latter episode was competent in the temple, but got robbed by a wonky layout and possible malfunctions in the temple.

In my opinion, The Golden Cricket Cage of Khan and The Bifocal Monocle of One-Eyed Jack are the two worst episodes in that order.

Right, but they certainly weren't good runs either. I just don't understand why they would choose those two if they have 120 episodes to choose from. It doesn't have to be Lucky Pillow, but a victory episode would be nice.

Plus, temple run aside, Season 2 and 3 had much better ascetics than Season 1, but the target audience that has never watched Legends probably believes that S1-EP 1/2 were standard runs, and that the show in general was boring.

If you show them a cool Season 3 episode, with the cool graphics, smoke, and eerie but fun sound effects (plus better commentary) your more likely to search it up on YouTube and watch some more episodes.

They were chosen because they're the first two episodes. That's been the theme all week.

Tuesday, 12AM. Listings say it's "Episode 103A", which almost certainly translates to Galileo's Cannonball.  :mrsilver:  :mrsilver:  :mrsilver:

Tell me about it! I have been so busy with work and my final semester of graduate school, that I've had virtually no time to do the stuff I like. Well, my Legends interest went down to almost nothing. :P

Glad to see Legends getting revived too! I wish they could air it more regularly. Instead of taking 25 years to air one season. This is one of the most unique game shows ever after all, so I would think it would be a popular choice. Even Nick GaS kept Legends on its network until the end of time. :P

Also, its good to see this network actually following a rotation too instead of airing "Great Seal" and "Bifocal Monocle" all the time. ;)

I know how it is. It's sucks being an adult. The only plus side for me is that I'm able to corrupt my students into enjoying watching it with me. They actually enjoy watching Legends with me during down time.

We have a slot for tomorrow night (at 12:30am)! Schedule says 104A, thus it's almost certainly Wild Bill Hickok and the Dead Man's Hand.

EDIT: Episode description confirms it.

EDIT2: Time change! Make that 11:30pm.

I know that this isn't the official forum for this, but it's the most active forum here:

I'm fairly optimistic they will revive LOTHT at some point. Now, I don't know how much I want that happen, I would certainly be open to more episodes, but if it's not done well it could ruin the games legacy.

Anyway, the reason I'm optimistic about LOTHT, is because it seems like other 80s/90s/Early 00s Game Shows are getting revivals (albeit with little success).

Take "Figure It Out". No one was pushing for a revival, and straight-out-of-the-blue here comes the revival.

Additionally, LOTHT seems to be winning all of the polls for "which game show do you want to see in 90s weekend block", that Nick runs frequently, and it wins by a lot.

If LOTHT is revived, I think the key would be to have a guy like Jeff Sutpthen, who watched Legends as a kid growing up, and is friends with guys like Kirk and Marc Summers (at least they seemed very friendly in the podcast). Jeff would do a good job hosting the revival. What would be terrible would be a star of a current Nick sitcom ( Like Carlos PenaVega...) as the host. Those shows never last and are usually very poor.

Again, I don't know if I 100% want LOTHT back, but I think we will see a short-lived revival in a few years.

Last night, we had Blackbeard's Treasure Map.

Hmmm, we got Legends again tonight, and if someone could help me confirm this, going all the way back to 90's Are All That, we have yet to see a winning episode.

I really don't understand how Legends keeps getting shafted on all these networks. Its one of the most unique game shows that I've ever seen on television. I am pretty sure it was a big hit on Nick GaS, because it lasted on that channel for over five years. I think if they actually give it a chance (unlike Teen Nick), it would surely be a big hit. Especially since everyone is all about reliving the 90's. :P

It would help too if they actually chose episodes that mattered. Great Seal is a good start, but that is an episode that has been shown too many times in the past few years. Give us some of the good Season 2 and 3 episodes!

A different episode, yes.

A different quality of episode, HELL NO.

Come on Viacom, if you want the Legends movie to succeed, you have to show the best episodes of the series.
