Title: Rate the Silver Snakes run - Day 12: The Codebook of Mata Hari
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 05, 2014, 05:27:01 PM
Since we have done one for 4/6 teams, we should me onto the Silver Snakes! Same rules as other topics where you rate the runs on a scale of 1-10. ;) I think this team might be the most interesting due to how God Awful some of their runs are and also have a few gems too.

Outcome: Out of Time!
Title: Re: Rate the Silver Snakes run - Day 1: John Henry's Lost Hammer
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 05, 2014, 05:30:21 PM
I gave John Henry a 2. This is one of the worst temple runs ever on the show and for the Silver Snakes too! It featured one of the most clueless runners ever too. Kim was an utter moron and she did not know how to... press a button. O_O You know, that big circle near the door? She was so bad that even the producers felt it was time for her to leave the temple. Nick was an okay second runner, and he moved a little slow and spent too much time in the Spider's Lair. But with little time that Kim left him, he did make it pretty far. This run was a huge disaster and I was so close to giving it a 1. But Nick sort of says this run and I think Golden Cricket Cage and Mt. Kilimanjaro are slightly worse. Still a lost cause run though.

Another two here. The only thing that saves it from getting a 1 is Billy. And even he wasn't that great either.

I gave it a solid 2. It's better than Cricket Cage. That's worth something, right?!

I will definitely take Lost Hammer over Golden Cricket Cage and even Snow Cone.  At least Billy almost made it looked like the team had a chance. He technically finished two rooms away despite all the time wasted in this episode. But let's move on from this awful temple run. Lost Hammer finishes with a 1.75.

Next up is "The Ruby Earring of Benzibab".  :mrsilver:

Episode: "The Ruby Earring of Benzibab"
Artifact Location: Room of the Secret Password
Players: Kevin and Annie
Pendants: 2
Outcome: Win!

Title: Re: Rate the Silver Snakes run - Day 2: The Ruby Earring of Benzibab
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 06, 2014, 12:53:46 AM
I gave BENZIBAB!111!!11! an 8. It was a pretty enjoyable win that featured a strong team. Kevin and Annie finishing with over a minute left is no fluke. Although they can sort of thank the producers for giving them an easy layout. But still, they won it fair and square and the win was enjoyable. But the temple run is still a little overrated though. I like Sultan Saladin, Cannonball, and Bandit Queen better anyways. ;)

I personally gave it a 7. Quite frankly, this run is overrated. Sure Kevin and Annie were fast, but this layout was handed to them on a silver platter. I prefer Jeweled Scabbard over this episode. Sorry, I just don't like this run. It's overrated. =/

I prefer Benzibab over Sforza win's, but not by much. But yeah, this run is overrated. I am surprised how many people have it in their top 10? I mean none of the fast wins impressed me on the show. I love Gaileo, Sultan Saladin, and Bandit Queen much better than this run. Zac was much more impressive than Kevin too.  :mrsilver:

Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on December 06, 2014, 01:11:02 AM
I agree, especially since Zac had MUCH less time on the clock. I honestly prefer close finishes to wins where the teams win in plenty of time. It just seems too easy to me. I also agree that the likes of Bandit Queen, Sultan Saladin, and Galileo were better. :mrsilver:
Title: Re: Rate the Silver Snakes run - Day 2: The Ruby Earring of Benzibab
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 06, 2014, 01:14:01 AM
And when you think about it, Kevin and Annie's win had a much easier layout than Sforza's win. Lacey and Asher had to descend the central shaft, which featured the hardest rooms of Season 3. No way the Silver Snakes finish over a minute with that layout. I definitely like Bandit Queen's win over Benzibab's too. And I have changed my mind on Bandit Queen too. I don't feel that it is overrated anymore. It deserves all the praise it gets.  :mrsilver:

Bandit Queen is a fantastic win. :mrsilver: I loved it from Day 1 and it was one of the very first episodes I ever saw. :mrsilver:

Benzibab.... well Annie and Kevin won in quick time. And you're right, no way would they have finished with over a minute left on the clock if they got Sforza's layout instead. Sforza's layout was even harder, like you said. Sorry kamehameha, but I just don't care about Benzibab. ;)

Next up is "The Golden Earring of Henry Morgan".  :mrsilver:

Episode: "The Golden Earring of Henry Morgan"

Outcome: Failed escape

Title: Re: Rate the Silver Snakes run - Day 3: The Golden Earring of Henry Morgan
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 07, 2014, 12:34:04 PM
I gave Henry Morgan a 9! This was one of the most exciting temple runs on the show and it never gets old either. The Silver Snakes were a solid team although they blew a couple of chances at a solo run. But their biggest mistake is when they used the ladders in the Jester's Court. :afro: What kind of losers do that? All jokes aside, it was a good effort and my favorite part at the end is where Matt and Ashley were excited for just reaching the artifact.  :mrsilver: This was a solid run despite it being a loss. And yes, I even rated it higher than Benzibab because I like this one over Robbie's favorite run. ;)  :mrsilver:

Shem, not Matt. ;)

And I gave it an 8. Definitely a thriller, but it really should've been a solo win (Ashley found the key in the Dark Forest, but didn't use it to enter the Shrine, which would've enabled her to avoid the temple guard in the Mine Shaft).

Also, does anyone else think this would've been a win if Shem had gone directly into the Mandarin Hand Room? Everyone thinks Shem still would've lost even if he did that. But Shem had PLENTY of time by the time he was done with the King's Storeroom. I'm willing to bet he would've escaped with 10 seconds left on the clock if he had done that. So Shem was also responsible for this loss. I don't know, am I the only person who thinks Shem would've won if he didn't detour into the Observatory? =/
Title: Re: Rate the Silver Snakes run - Day 3: The Golden Earring of Henry Morgan
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 07, 2014, 04:42:37 PM
I was about to say the same thing about Shem! I think he should get some blame too, especially since Jonathan from William the Conqueror gets criticism for almost the same mistake. He completed the King's Storeroom with 21 seconds left. He would've grabbed the Golden Earring with 15 seconds. Would he have won? It would've been VERY close. I mean Kristen from Priceless Portrait grabbed her artifact with 14 seconds left and her time ran out in the Ledges. Shem probably would've had the same ending. But he was also a beast too, so I think he could've pulled it off. So I agree, he deserves some blame to an extent. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Silver Snakes run - Day 3: The Golden Earring of Henry Morgan
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on December 07, 2014, 07:48:45 PM
Well, Kristen moved a little slower, that's why she didn't escape in time with the portrait. But Shem moved like a beast the entire time, so I'm pretty confident he would've escaped in time. All he had to do was grab artifact, swing on a rope, race down the stairs, which really wouldn't have taken any time at all. So Shem probably would've escaped with about 5 seconds or so left on the clock. Shem definitely deserves some blame, but Ashley is even more so to blame. Since she didn't use the Forest/Shrine passage. Plus, both players wasted time by climbing down the ladders. So without those mistake, they could've easily have won. Oh well, still a great run nonetheless. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Silver Snakes run - Day 3: The Golden Earring of Henry Morgan
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 07, 2014, 11:44:44 PM
I forgot that Shem could use the top floor to escape. :P If that was the case, I think he would have a chance to escape with the artifact. The top floor was definitely easier to escape with. And since he was uber fast, I could count on him to pull it off. ;) And I think he does deserve blame for this loss too. Although Ashley's mistake was more glaring than Shem's IMO. She had a solo run in her hands, but she plowed through the stone wall and got taken out by the only Mine Shaft guar ever. Definitely one of the best losses after Ivan the Terrible though. ;)

Yeah, those two mistakes are the reasons I didn't rate it a 9 or a 10. An 8 is good enough for me. And Shem definitely would've won if he escaped via the top route of the temple. Regardless, Henry Morgan is easily one of the best losses on the show. Discarded Seal is still #1 to me though. Henry Morgan is a close second for me. ;)

I also went with an 8. A non-victory has to be nearly flawless for me to go any higher than that.

Henry Morgan finishes with a 8.20!  :mrsilver:

Next up is "Henry VIII's Great Seal".  :mrsilver:

Episode: "Henry VIII's Great Seal"
Artifact Location: Swamp
Players: Nick and Shay
Pendants: 1.5
Outcome: Triple capture

Title: Re: Rate the Silver Snakes run - Day 4: Henry VIII's Great Seal
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 09, 2014, 07:25:32 PM
I gave the Great Seal an 8. Despite it being a triple capture run, it was one of the most exciting and quirky losses on the show. It featured a good team, some hilarious temple guard captures, silly Kirk commentary, and of course the classic ending where Nick jumps out of the temple. This was a solid run and the team would've easily won if they had another half-pendant. Even though I like Kamehameha better, this one was still a solid run. ;) :mrsilver:

I also gave it an 8, for same reasons. But honestly, I prefer this run over Kamehameha. It was A LOT more exciting, and a lot less flawed. I don't know, I always preferred this run over Kamehameha.

Next up is "The Secret Battle Plan of Nathan Hale".   :mrsilver:

Episode: "The Secret Battle Plan of Nathan Hale"
Artifact Location: Shrine of the Silver Monkey
Players: James and Christina
Pendants: 1.5
Outcome: Triple capture

Title: Re: Rate the Silver Snakes run - Day 5: The Secret Battle Plan of Nathan Hale
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 11, 2014, 03:21:28 PM
I gave Nathan Hale a 2. This was one of the worst triple captures on the show, and it should've never happened at all. The half-pendant was in plain sight and both Kirk and James signaled to it, but Christina still missed out. The Missing Eye team has an excuse for their triple capture, but not the Nathan Hale team. The only reason I didn't give this a 1 because the Silver Snakes had crappier runs like Snow Cone and Golden Cricket Cage.

Next up is... Robin Hood and Marian's Ladder.             :mrsilver:

Episode: "        "

Pendants: 2
Outcome: Win!

Title: Re: Rate the Silver Snakes run - Day 6: Robin Hood and Marian's Ladder
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 11, 2014, 11:39:28 PM
I gave       a 3. This temple run is so annoying and Jeremy is just so cringeworthy to watch in the temple. How does a team finish with only 30 seconds after entering five rooms that had no objectives? Erika did pretty good in her short time, but Jeremy was clueless and sucked. I don't care if this is a win, I can't stand this temple run and Jeremy. His victory dance at the end has to be one of the biggest cringeworthy moments on the show.  :lipsrsealed: Seriously Jeremy, take that Silk Ladder and shove it up your ass.
Title: Re: Rate the Silver Snakes run - Day 6: Robin Hood and Marian's Ladder
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on December 11, 2014, 11:41:02 PM
I gave it a 4. Easily the most undeserved win on the show. Erika and her fatty partner Jeremy can shove the silk ladder up their ass indeed.
Title: Re: Rate the Silver Snakes Run - Day 6: Robin Hood and Marian's Ladder
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 11, 2014, 11:46:25 PM
I agree, Jeremy is a player that gets almost no criticism but he was a lost cause in the temple. He looked lost in every room and moved so slow. He even slows down in the end when he brings the Silk Ladder across the gate. I guarantee if Jeremy and Erika had a layout like Davy Crockett, they would've lost because Jeremy was so slow. No more hiding behind your win Jeremy, I am going to give you the criticism you have coming for you. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Silver Snakes Run - Day 6: Robin Hood and Marian's Ladder
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on December 11, 2014, 11:51:01 PM
Wait, Jeremy never gets criticism? He's like, the most universally hated temple victor ever. ;) It's Erika nobody ever criticizes. You're right though, Jeremy DOES deserve criticism. They both do. And they would totally bomb at a layout like Davy Crockett. Could you imagine this team in a Season 2 or 3 temple? I shudder just thinking about it.

Ugh. This run.

I wanted to give it a 3, but I gave it a 4. A win deserves something, right? I guess.
Title: Re: Rate the Silver Snakes Run - Day 6: Robin Hood and Marian's Ladder
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on December 12, 2014, 08:20:23 PM
The only reason I didn't rate it lower than 4 was because it at least Erika was fast. And she knew somewhat what she was doing. But what drags it waaaaay down for me was her fatty partner Jeremy and his cluelessness. And this was just a lame win and episode in general. Like I said above, no way would this team had won if they had a harder layout. :afro:
Title: Re: Rate the Silver Snakes Run - Day 6: Robin Hood and Marian's Ladder
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 13, 2014, 01:47:28 AM
I really don't have a problem with Erika. She made it through 5 rooms in under a minute, which is actually better than most Season 1 front runners. I just can't stand Jeremy and his fat ass celebrating as if his win is groundbreaking. Silk Ladder finishes with an even 5.00.

Next up is "The War Fan of the 47 Ronin".  :mrsilver:

Episode: "The War Fan of the 47 Ronin"
Artifact Location: Quicksand Bog
Players: Jeremy and Elise
Pendants: 1
Outcome: Out of Time

Title: Re: Rate the Silver Snakes Run - Day 7: The War Fan of the 47 Ronin
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 13, 2014, 01:51:12 AM
I gave War Fan a 7. I know this score might be a little high, but I am showing Jeremy and Elise some sympathy. These two got screwed BIG time in the temple. I mean they actually had a legit chance at winning, but a production error that cost them 30 seconds really screwed them over. Despite what outer space thinks, Jeremy and Elise were not an undeserving team and lost because of something outside of their control. And their temple performance was pretty good too and Jeremy made decent progress as a front runner. Too bad the team never got a real second chance, but at least they got the second prize.  ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Silver Snakes Run - Day 7: The War Fan of the 47 Ronin
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on December 13, 2014, 01:54:07 AM
Honestly, I'm giving this run a 4. Production error aside, they were absolutely nothing remarkable whatsoever. The temple run was extremely boring, and not memorable at all. And Elise has got to be the slowest second runner ever. Seriously, she just WALKED through every single room. The production error sucked yes, but rating it a 7 is way too high and generous. I actually kind of hate this run in a way.

Sorry, but I really don't like this run at all. It wasn't their fault the production error happened, but this team was slow, boring, and NOTHING special at all. I know my grade is a little harsh, but I refuse to overrate this run. Don't like. Sorry.
Title: Re: Rate the Silver Snakes Run - Day 7: The War Fan of the 47 Ronin
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 13, 2014, 02:00:43 AM
Interesting, I feel the opposite about this run. Jeremy did a pretty good job in handling most of his rooms in the temple and got removed with a 1:08 left after entering 7 rooms. I forgot that Elise was pretty slow though, but she still made it to the Room of the Secret Password despite losing a lot of her time. I might lower the score to a 6 though because a 7 is way too generous. You're right about it being a little boring and unremarkable. But I don't mind this run at all.

Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on December 13, 2014, 02:03:00 AM
Jeremy did an alright job sure, but Elise looked like she wasn't even trying at all. Besides the production error, (which I definitely don't fault them for), the rest of the temple run was just uneventful. Which is why I just can't it high.

I changed my vote for War Fan to a 6. And now I can update the poll and move on. War Fan finishes with a 5.40.  :mrsilver:

And since we had to do it eventually. Up next is "The Golden Cricket Cage of Khan".  :afro:

Episode: "The Golden Cricket Cage of Khan"
Artifact Location: Spider's Lair

Outcome: Out of Time

Title: Re: Rate the Silver Snakes Run - Day 8: The Golden Cricket Cage of Khan

I gave the Golden Cricket Cage a 1. Is this temple run real life? How can anybody be as stupid as John and Tia? They deserve all the jokes they get. I don't care how young these kids were, you have to be mentally challenged to make it through only 4 rooms in 3 minutes. This temple run deserves all the jokes and this is the WORST temple run on the show. Please take note Youtube.  :afro:

How could the producers really let John and Tia f**k this layout up so much? I mean did they rewatch it after they taped it? I know it was early Season 1, but none of the other teams only made it through 4 rooms! Except for Golden Ship, but the Red Jaguars have an excuse. Even as bad as the Silver Snakes were in Lost Hammer, they still made it through double the rooms of John and Tia. I would've literally redone this entire episode and ban John and Tia from the show.

When was the last time you have seen Golden Cricket Cage? I honestly haven't watched the temple run much (4-5 times?), but it is so bad that I know it by heart. I know I joke about it all the time, but I am not ever going to find a reason to watch it again.

Oh it's been years since I've so much as glanced at that episode. I only saw the full episode once, only once. Back when we had access to the old CNS episode downloads back on the old forums. Or did I see it on Dailymotion? I don't quite remember. But I only watched the full episode one time, and haven't seen any aspect of the episode ever since. This episode just doesn't exist in my book.

I remember the first time I watched it and that was before I had access to this forum. I had no idea how infamous and that it would be the worst temple run ever. After watching it the first time, I knew that this would be the worst temple run ever. Although I wasn't really surprised because the earlier rounds were horrible. This episode doesn't exist just like Snow Cone for the Silver Snakes.  :afro:

Yup, Snow Cone is another episode I've completely blocked out of my memory. And I've only seen it once. I'm also pretty sure that episode was never on Dailymotion. So I know for sure I saw that from CNS episode downloads. Another episode I'll never watch again.

I think the poll is broken. I can't find the "0" option.

Yeah, and there's no negative number (-1, -5, -10) button either. Even Snow Come deserves to be rated in negative numbers.

Even though Brent didn't vote yet, we all know that no one will ever rate Cricket Cage higher than a 1. But he can feel free to add his vote next time he pops in. ;) So on that note, this waste of space episode finishes with a lowly 1.

Time to move onto the next run - "The Snow Cone of Mt. Kilimanjaro"!  :mrsilver:

Just kidding, we can save the Snow Cone for some other time.  :afro: Up next is "The Star of Sultan Saladin".  :mrsilver:

Episode: "The Star of Sultan Saladin"
Artifact Location: Observatory
Players: Steve and Lea
Pendants: 1.5
Outcome: Win!

I gave Sultan Saladin a 9!  :mrsilver: This was a very exciting run and one of the best wins from Season 1. Lea was a solid front runner in this episode and I fail to see how anyone could have a problem with her performance?! I could care less if she tried a little too hard for the direct path, at least she was always trying to take the shortest route possible. She was a fast and smart contestant in the temple and didn't get turned around once. Plus, this win is memorable for the awkward ending too. I don't care if my score is generous, I am going to show this run a little love.  :mrsilver:

Another 9 here. :mrsilver: Haters can suck it, Lea did a terrific job. One of the very few Season 1 wins and episodes I even like. :mrsilver:

Gave it an 8. This run is underrated in my opinion.

Sultan Saladin finishes with an 8.50!  :mrsilver:

Next up is "The Missing Eye of David"!  :mrsilver:

Episode: "The Missing Eye of David"
Artifact Location: Shrine of the Silver Monkey
Players: Michael and Emily
Pendants: 1.5
Outcome: Triple capture

I gave Missing Eye a 7. This was a pretty good and memorable temple run despite the triple capture ending. Mitchell and Emily were a fast moving team in the temple, but they lost because the producers decided to be cryptic with their half-pendant location. They are the only team from S2 I can forgive for passing up their half-pendant. The run in general was memorable and the ending with Emily throwing her partial pendant at the temple guard is a classic moment!  :P  :mrsilver:

Michael NOT Mitchell. ;)

And I gave it a 7. Only triple capture that wasn't riddled with mistakes. Plus, Michael and Emily were fast. :mrsilver:

Missing Eye finishes with a 6.75.  :mrsilver:

Next up is "The Enormous Iron Nose Ring of Babe".  :mrsilver:

Episode: "The Enormous Iron Nose Ring of Babe"
Artifact Location: King's Storeroom
Players: Joel and Dorothy
Pendants: 1.5
Outcome: Win!

I gave Nose Ring an 8! This is a temple run I actually enjoy even though it is kind of overrated. But Joel was a great contestant in the temple and his speed was amazing! He blazed through the bottom floor and even avoided a temple guard! Joel was making great time and might've beat the best win ever (Shaka Zulu's) time but unfortunately he struggled in the Shrine and took the central shaft out of the temple. Had these mistakes not happen, he might've beaten Shaka Zulu's time! Great contestant, but those mistakes were sort of glaring and might've cost Joel if he didn't have sort of an easy layout. But I still respect his performance and he would've won in any other layout.  ;)

I honestly don't know why I said Ron? I was thinking about Joel's mistake at the end were he pulled a "Ron". I definitely don't mean to compare him to Ron. But yeah, this is the only fast win I even like. One of the few wins that I don't mind being praised despite it being overrated at times. ;)

I forgot about this topic. :o I want to move on since we don't have that many runs to cover. Enormous Iron Nose Ring finishes with 7.75 :mrsilver:

Next up is "The Codebook of Mata Hari".  :mrsilver:

Episode: "The Codebook of Mata Hari"
Artifact Location: Heart Room
Players: Gareth and Rinette
Pendants: 1.5
Outcome: Out of Time

Title: Re: Rate the Silver Snakes run - Day 12: The Codebook of Mata Hari
Post by: The Red Jaguars on January 03, 2015, 04:51:43 PM
I gave Mata Hari a 4. It was your typical boring and average Season 1 loss where one player makes it one room away from the artifact, but the second runner has little time to reach the artifact. The temple guard layout was unfair, but the team had no chance at winning because they were slow and Rinette was a piss poor second runner. Gareth actually did a decent job as a frontrunner, so I don't really give him a hard time. Rinette on the other hand was a sad excuse for a second runner. While she had very little time, she still didn't use it well at all. She moves so slow and was just entering the Holes of Python before time expired. So in 44 seconds, she barely covered 4 rooms. I can't believe people defend her. Overall, boring run with a pathetic second player.

I gave it a 3. Boring temple run, and Rinette was waaaaay too slow as a second runner.
Title: Re: Rate the Silver Snakes run - Day 12: The Codebook of Mata Hari

Seriously, Rinette was an awful second runner. She had a clear path all the way to the Treasure Room, but doesn't even make it past her fourth room. It's not like runs like Stone Marker or Belshazzar where the front runners made little progress and the second runners had little time to make more. Rinette has no excuse for moving that slow. She was older than Gareth too.

And Gareth was fatter than Rinette, and even HE moved faster than her. Anyone who defends Rinette obviously didn't watch this run carefully. Imagine if she had gone first? Gareth wouldn't even have a chance to enter.

Yeah, it would've been like Lucky Pig's run where Rinette would've used all 3 minutes and Gareth would've been lucky to even reach the first step of the temple. I am definitely glad that didn't happen. Also, I never understood the hate Gareth got either. I know he moved a little slow in some rooms like the Cave of Sighs and Holes of Python, but every other room he moved fine. He didn't have trouble with any objectives and tried to use all of his shortcuts. Much better than Rinette and I am so glad she didn't go in first.

Well, Gareth only got tripped up in the Cave and Holes of Python because he had a hard time maneuvering through the rooms due to his chubbiness. Other than that, he actually moved pretty quickly. And he knew what he was doing for the most part. He only lost because the temple guard placement (the same tired "one room away" trick in Season 1), made it impossible for this team to win. Heh I remember when Renegade called Gareth a "fatass" while Rinette was the "slowpoke." Both were pretty accurate descriptions too. I wonder if there were any other chubby contestants on the show? There might have been, but I don't quite remember.

Actually, I would say that there were fatter ones than Gareth even. Here are the chunky contestants from the top of my head:

- Jeremy
- Terry Kay from Jean Lafitte
- Ron from Anne Bonny
- Kristen from Lucky Pig
- Damien from Pytheas
- Chrystine from Lost Taj Mahal Turban
- CJ from Golden Stallion

Kristen had to be the fattest one also. I mean you can actually see it in her face. :afro:

Kristen was definitely fat. I mean, just look at her face. I can't believe I forgot about her too. Same with Jeremy. I remember TPP called Jeremy "fatty" in one of his descriptions of him. I think it was his YouTube video on the Silk Ladder temple run. Either way, Gareth did MUCH better than most of those above contestants. Even if he was chubby. :afro:
