Title: Rate the Blue Barracudas Run - Day 19: The Ivory Elephant of Scheherazade
Post by: The Red Jaguars on September 23, 2014, 11:02:27 PM
I know this is a little early, but the Red Jaguars thread is almost done. Plus, the Blue Barracudas are one of my favorite teams and a lot of their runs are interesting. Same rules as the other topic. We will rate each Blue Barracuda run on a scale of 1-10. When rating the Blue Barracuda runs, only compare them to other Blue Barracuda runs and not for other teams. ;) As usual, have fun!

We will start off with "The Missing Portrait of Hans Holbein".  :mrblue:

Post by: The Red Jaguars on September 23, 2014, 11:05:12 PM
I gave Hans Holbein a 6. It was a boring and forgettable run, and Keith and Rachel were just an average team. But their layout was impossible and they literally had to enter every room enroute to the artifact. So they made it pretty far taking into account their speed and progress. And they would've loss anyways even if they move faster. Overall, it was a boring run but I don't hate it at all. Although I have seen this episode many times thanks to Nick GaS. :S

I also gave it a 6, for the same reasons as Stone Marker. And yes this episode was part of the 20 episode cycle. O_O

Title: Re: Rate the Blue Barracudas run - Day Two: The Lucky Pig of Amelia Earhart
Post by: The Red Jaguars on September 24, 2014, 11:14:35 PM
I gave Lucky Pig a 1. I HATE this temple run with a passion. Kristen was honestly one of the worst girls ever on the show. She was slow, stupid, unathletic, and a lost cause in general. She wasted three minutes doing literally everything wrong in the temple. I don't care how hard the layout was, I do not want to see a player that does acts incompetent for three minutes. I know I am being harsh to her, but a contestant that takes almost a minute to climb in the Wall Climb and gets lost in the Dungeon deserves to be maligned. Poor Scott, he deserved MUCH better than this lost cause.  :?

Another one here. Terrible temple run. And I have ZERO sympathy for Kristen that her layout was hard.
Title: Re: Rate the Blue Barracudas run - Day Two: The Lucky Pig of Amelia Earhart
Post by: The Red Jaguars on September 24, 2014, 11:32:23 PM
Seriously, I would've felt like utter crap if I was Scott. He didn't even get a shot in the temple to prove himself. At least in runs like Charles Lindbergh and Enormous Feather had runners that had a chance to prove themselves despite Kim and Karisa being lost causes. But in Lucky Pig, we have to sit through 3 whole minutes of someone who had no idea what to do. I have zero sympathy for Kristen too and this is one run I just can't defend.
Title: Re: Rate the Blue Barracudas run - Day Two: The Lucky Pig of Amelia Earhart
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on September 24, 2014, 11:34:21 PM
And it's stupid for people to defend Kristen because "her layout was impossible." She only made it as far because it was a Season 1 temple. Who knows how miserably she would've performed if she had a latter season temple. If I were her partner, I would be extremely pissed. Especially since Scott LED THE TEAM the whole episode. He should've been paired up with the extremely short Annie.
Title: Re: Rate the Blue Barracudas run - Day Two: The Lucky Pig of Amelia Earhart
Post by: The Red Jaguars on September 24, 2014, 11:41:59 PM
Yeah, Annie would've been a much better teammate for Scott. Plus, they would've had better chemistry since they knew each other before their episode taped. As hard as the layout was, there was still a chance for a solo shot. And it was the Season 1 temple too like you mentioned, so most of the rooms were easy. Which is why Kristen made it far. If I had to say one thing I liked about this run, it is Scott and Kirk's support for Kristen. Even though they had to guide her through the whole temple.
Title: Re: Rate the Blue Barracudas run - Day Two: The Lucky Pig of Amelia Earhart
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on September 24, 2014, 11:45:38 PM
Yeah, it would've been interesting to see Annie go through the temple. As short and as young as she was, she probably would've done a MUCH better job than Kristen. She probably would know how to climb a wall, and she'd know how to bust through a wall. And like you said, both Annie and Scott were classmates, so they would've had perfect chemistry. They would make for a great Purple Parrot team. Which is the team I was rooting for in the temple games. I'm not sure if it would've been a solo run, but it would've been MUCH better than chubby girl Kristen's trainwreck performance.

Title: Re: Rate the Blue Barracudas run - Day Three: The Mask of the Man in the Iron Mask
Post by: The Red Jaguars on September 25, 2014, 05:04:51 PM
I gave Iron Mask a 6. It was one of those runs that really should've been a win, but one wrong move screwed the team over for a win. In this case, Jennifer shouldn't have detour into Medusa's Lair. Especially considering she was moving very fast. :? By the time Justin entered, they had no chance of winning. In the end, it was your typical Season 2 loss. Not the worst loss on the show, but it should've been a win. And the temple run is pretty uneventful aside from Justin's badass head first slide.  :mrblue:

Title: Re: Rate the Blue Barracudas Run - Day Four: The Belly Button of Buddha
Post by: The Red Jaguars on September 26, 2014, 01:44:11 PM
I gave Buddha a 6. This temple win is pretty boring and uneventful. Jennifer was an alright contestant, but the win really shouldn't have been this close. Maybe it would've helped if she didn't move so slow through every room and get lost in the Treasure Room. I am starting to feel that this win is a little overrated too. I don't have a problem with it, but I just don't think that Jennifer is the "best player ever". There were a lot of more exciting Barracuda runs.

Post by: The Red Jaguars on September 27, 2014, 12:49:45 AM
I gave Red Sash an 8. This was a pretty exciting loss, but Brandy and Quentin really should've won. Brandy was too hesitant as a front runner and entered too many unnecessary rooms and objectives. Quentin was too hesitant too and had enough time to grab the Red Sash and maybe even win. Despite the mistakes, the temple run was pretty exciting and close. Plus, the layout was pretty brutal and the team did a good job. One of the Blue Barracudas best losses. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Blue Barracudas Run - Day Five: The Red Sash of Tokugawa Ieyasu
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on September 27, 2014, 01:00:14 AM
Sorry, but this is getting a 5 from me. This run was extremely boring, and Brandy and Quentin made too many mistakes. There's no excuse for their losses, this run was way too flawed. This is not one of the best Blue Barracudas runs at all. This run was such a snore, and I don't like it at all. No offense, but giving it an 8 is way too high. It was a decent run, but it wasn't THAT great.
Title: Re: Rate the Blue Barracudas Run - Day Five: The Red Sash of Tokugawa Ieyasu
Post by: The Red Jaguars on September 27, 2014, 01:04:06 AM
I thought you loved this run? :o I do agree that it lacks the excitement of over runs from the same room space like Polynesian Girl and Good-Luck Watch. But I thought it was a pretty strong performance. I gave it a good score because of how close Brandy and Quentin came to close of reaching a bottom of the central shaft artifact despite entering every room. Better than Electrified Key at least. ;)

Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on September 27, 2014, 01:07:07 AM
Nah, I always thought it was boring. Too many mistakes caused this to be a loss, and it really turned me off. Though it is pretty much THE only Blue Barracuda run that has something going for it, so I guess there's that. My favorite Blue Barracuda loss is Atahualpa personally. And coincidentally it was the only failed escape for the Barracudas. ;)

I agree with you there. Golden Jaguar is also my favorite Barracuda loss. It feels even a little underrated because no one really talks about it. One of the few Season 1 episode and runs I even like.  :mrblue:

Yeah, it is underrated. The only mistake that was made was Chris detouring into the Heart Room. I even ranked all the players in this episode too a few months ago. And all the players scored pretty well. Atahualpa is easily one of the better Season 1 episodes. :mrblue:

I gave Lost Logbooks a 3. What a boring and piss poor temple run. Jessica was a horrible excuse for a second runner. I don't care whether this run ended in triple capture or not, it blew pretty hard. Even if it didn't end in triple capture, the temple run still would've been a loss. Jessica was a lost cause and ruined this run for me. I forget that it even exists too. -_-

I gave Dr. Livingstone a 6. It was a boring and average win. To this day, I always forget that this episode is a win. The win itself was just plain average, and Tabitha and Brett were even lucky to win. At the end of the day, they did get the job done. But I could care less about their win though and there were a lot of better Blue Barracuda runs out there. :?

Title: Re: Rate the Blue Barracudas Run - Day Eight: Mummified Hand of the Egyptian King
Post by: The Red Jaguars on September 30, 2014, 09:48:47 PM
I gave Mummified Hand a 7. I actually like this temple run despite the disappointing outcome. It was very memorable and unique, and it also had a strong performance. Sarah and Josh were a good team, but lost because of both a situation out of their control and because of a brutal mistake. On one hand, I kind of sympathize with the team because I feel that the pendant drop sort of messed up their strategy and if it never happened, then the outcome would've been better. On the other hand, Josh brought it onto himself by pulling a "Harriet Tubman" and taking the high road with less than a full pendant. So the outcome was mostly Josh's fault. Overall though, I liked this team and they did a solid effort in the temple. And the temple run is pretty exciting and quirky too. Kin of like Great Seal and Kamehameha where the outcome was disappointing, but the team made it an enjoyable run. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Blue Barracudas Run - Day Eight: Mummified Hand of the Egyptian King
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on September 30, 2014, 11:11:50 PM
Once again with the Fogg Ups. It's Maggie, NOT Sarah.

And I gave them a 6. Boring run, besides the pendant dropping. Seriously, there was nothing special about this run AT ALL. It was memorable sure, but still rather boring everything else aside. I don't blame Maggie for the pendant dropping. That was an accident. Either way, could've been a win, but Josh blew it by taking an alternative route. And this run is as exciting as Kamehameha and Great Seal? I don't know, that's going too far, but your mileage may vary. Great Seal and Kamehameha are in two different leagues. MUCH different leagues than this run. Pendant dropping aside, this temple run was really dull. I don't care how strong the team was.

Title: Re: Rate the Blue Barracudas Run - Day 9: The Stone Head of the Evil King
Post by: The Red Jaguars on October 02, 2014, 04:14:20 PM
I gave Stone Head a 2. In the past, I would've shown this run some sympathy because four snakes Medusa was pretty unfair and challenging. But now, I completely hate this run. Why? Heather and Tony only made it through 5 rooms in 3 minutes. They were slow and a clueless team. Tony in particular was very mentally challenged. It should NOT have taken him over a minute to complete Medusa's Lair. Whitney didn't even have as much trouble as him. :? And then he breaks the pots in the King's Storeroom like a moron. Overall, this was a bad team and a piss poor temple run. And to think they swept the temple games too.
Title: Re: Rate the Blue Barracudas Run - Day 9: The Stone Head of the Evil King

Title: Re: Rate the Blue Barracudas Run - Day 9: The Stone Head of the Evil King
Post by: AimYourBrent on October 02, 2014, 11:27:19 PM
I was a little more sympathetic and gave it a 4 because of crazy Medusa and because Heather was a pretty decent player.
Title: Re: Rate the Blue Barracudas Run - Day 9: The Stone Head of the Evil King
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on October 02, 2014, 11:43:24 PM
But even with four snakes, it shouldn't take well over a minute completing the objective. Even Whitney from Lost Love Letter wasn't that bad. And I personally didn't think Heather was that great either. She not only took a direct path, she also moved pretty slow. Stone Marker pretty much hit the nail on the head above.

Post by: The Red Jaguars on October 03, 2014, 01:14:07 AM
I have Geronimo a 4. There is no win that I hate more than this one right here. I never understood what people thought was remarkable about this run. Was it because it was the only time the treasure chest worked? That is my only conclusion. I hate this win because it is the most overrated win (next to Shaka Zulu), and the amount of praise it gets is insufferable. Mitchell literally walks through the temple the whole time and still finishes with over a minute left. What does that tell you about his win? Oh yeah, he put the Silver Monkey together... after he grabbed the Moccasins. It was better than some Barracuda runs, but I could care less about it. :|

But it's still a bad win. Mitchell just got lucky because wait for it.... the treasure chest just happened to open that day. And don't give me that "HE PLANNED IT!!!!" crap. Any other player would've opened the chest, and we still would've creamed our pants over it. Mitchell just happened to get lucky, and the chest just happened to be opened that day. And he instantly lost my respect by assembling the monkey on his way OUT with the artifact. I would go as far as saying it's just as bad as Shaka Zulu and Silk Ladder honestly.

Yeah, I hate Geronimo with a passion. Unlike Shaka Zulu and Silk Ladder, people praised this win and ranked it among the best. But yet they criticize runs like Sir Gawain and Nose Ring where there was actually strong players. With that being said, Geronimo finishes with a 3.50.

Post by: The Red Jaguars on October 11, 2014, 01:02:27 AM
I gave Silk Sash a 3. I am sorry, I find this temple run both pathetic and overrated. I don't understand how people could feel sorry for Jessie and Stephen. It was their own fault that they made crappy progress. They moved slow through every room and had no sense of direction. Perhaps Stephen should've completed the Observatory objective the right way and they might've actually reached the Sash. Although I do find the temple run entertaining at least. Each temple guard encounter was hilarious, so that sort of saved this run from getting a lower score than usual. ;)

I use to be indifferent towards this run, but now I can say that I hate it. Mostly because this team never got criticized while other teams that actually made it far in the temple (Dolley Madison) got hate all the time. An it is not even a forgettable run either in my eyes. :o

I gave Pearl Necklace a 6. I have nothing to really say about this run. It was uneventful and Ryan and Dawn were just an average team. But they did make it one room away with a layout that was sort of lengthy. They should've reached the Necklace at least, but I don't have any problem with this one really.

I also gave it a 6. Boring, unless you count Ryan's rubble clearing in the Pit. Since we all just "love" direct tricks.

I gave Golden Jaguar an 8. This was the Blue Barracudas only failed escape run, and it was pretty exciting and quirky. The beginning was pretty memorable with Chris running into the space between the Cave of Sighs. After he corrected himself, he made the unfortunate mistake of entering the Heart Room which ended to be a double whammy dead end and temple guard. He made it all the way to the Shrine, and got removed with over a minute. Tracy was a solid second runner and she made up good time. She grabbed the Jaguar with two seconds left, but it was the best she could do. Overall, this was a good team and one of the few good Season 1 episodes. I love the quirkiness of this run and the close artifact grab.  :mrblue:

Another 8 here. :mrblue: This is probably the only Blue Barracudas loss I even like.

I gave it an 8, too. I often forget how good this one actually is.

The Blue Barracudas don't have a lot of great losses honestly. Most of them are either really boring, or just plain bad. Atahualpa is the only Blue Barracuda that's even remotely interesting. And coincidentally enough, it's the only failed escape the Blue Barracudas had.

I like Red Sash too even though Brandy and Quentin made too many mistakes. At least they almost grabbed a bottom of the central shaft artifact too with a tough layout. But yeah, Golden Jaguar is their only real solid loss.  :mrblue:

Red Sash is good too, but it doesn't have the excitement factor that Atahualpa has. The latter was especially memorable for Chris' detour behind Olmec, and for the last second grab. Red Sash is only memorable for the Shrine/Secret Password door being opened the entire time. Regardless, Atahualpa is my favorite Blue Barracuda loss. :mrblue:

Episode: "The Lucky Pillow of Annie Taylor "
Artifact Location: Medusa's Lair

Outcome: Won!

I gave Annie Taylor a 1. One of the easiest wins featuring the luckiest girl ever. Did Missy really think the direct path work? Never mind the fact you won the first ever center of the temple win, that one mistake alone makes you below the rest.

All jokes aside, I gave Annie Taylor a 10! :mrblue: This was easily the best Blue Barracuda run. Everything you love about LoTHT is jam-packed in this one temple run. It was very memorable, exciting, and Missy was a strong player. Her performance was solid and I will love it until the day I die. You can hate on it all you want, my opinion of it will never change.  :mrblue:  :mrblue:

Next up is "The Treasure Map of Jean Lafitte".

Post by: The Red Jaguars on November 20, 2014, 03:31:38 PM
I gave Jean Lafitte a 2. One of the most boring and forgettable Blue Barracudas runs on the show. Terry Kay and Aaron were a horrible team that made pathetic progress in the temple. I know some people blame the Troubled Bridge holding them back, but that was incompetence on Aaron's part for not trying hard. And Terry Kay was stupid for taking an alternate path with only a half-pendant. Horrible run that deserves to be maligned more like Silk Sash.

Outcome: Out of Time

Title: Re: Rate the Blue Barracudas Run - Day 16: The Mysterious Manuscript of Mary Shelley
Post by: The Red Jaguars on November 27, 2014, 01:44:05 AM
I gave the Monster Monkey a 4. I know this run had a pretty lousy team, but I will admit that this run is very entertaining and memorable. Kate was a pretty mediocre front runner despite being so hyped to be in the temple. And Larry was just a lost cause and he failed miserably with the Silver Monkey. Even after spending over a minute on it, he still didn't come close. -_- But as I mentioned earlier, I actually find this run amusing and entertaining. Kate's cheering, Larry's retarded running, and the Monster Monkey make this run very memorable.  :mrblue:

Next up is our final run - "John Sutter and the Map to the Lost Gold Mine." :mrblue:

I gave Lost Gold Mine a 10! This was one of my all time favorite wins on the show, and Jennifer and Jammin John were a solid team that would've won almost any run in Season 1! :mrblue: This run was just amazing for a lot of reasons - Kirk's Fogg-Ups and enthusiasm, strong team effort, Jennifer's tarp slip, and the strong team win. No matter what people say about this run, I will always think highly of it. One of the best Blue Barracudas episodes ever! :mrblue:  :mrblue:  :mrblue:  :mrblue:  :mrblue:

And that is it for the Barracudas thread! Map to the Lost Gold Mine finishes with a 9.75.  :mrblue: I will post the rankings later for how each run ranked. I think I am going to cover the Silver Snakes next. Maybe I should just skip over Golden Cricket Cage though?  :afro:  :P

How did I mess that up? Now I am kind of upset because I would've saved John Sutter for the last episode to be rated.

But you're right, I missed at least two runs. The next one we will cover is "The Electrified Key of Benjamin Franklin". :mrblue:

Episode: "The Electrified Key of Benjamin Franklin"
Artifact Location: Throne Room
Players: Michelle and Peter
Pendants: 1
Outcome: Out of Time!

I gave Electrified Key a 7. Looking back now, it was pretty disappointing for this team not to win. I mean every other team that day had great wins, and Peter and Michelle had a chance to share the same fame but they blew it on a pretty easy bottom of the central shaft layout. The main problem was Peter who just could not stay away from the direct path. -_- Seriously Peter, do you really think the Throne Room was going to open that easily? Did you watch Shaka Zulu before this run? I do admit though that I still enjoy this run despite the flaws. Peter and Michelle were a good team, but they made some pretty glaring mistakes. It was still watchable though and memorable too. Too bad they didn't win or else we would've had back-to-back legendary Blue Barracudas wins. :barracudas2:

Yeah, too bad. That would've been the perfect way to close out this thread. Just like we did with our episode review project. :afro: :mrblue:

And I gave Electrified Key a 6. Disappointing run. Should've been a legendary win, and a 4-on-4 day. But Peter blew it by taking the direct path. And he did it twice too. Too bad, all those mistakes were so preventable too.

I definitely agree that those mistakes shouldn't have happened. I bet if Michelle went into the temple first, then it would've been a solo victory. She was smart enough to avoid Medusa's Lair when entering the Observatory. This is assuming she doesn't enter the Crypt as her entrance room. I think I am going to lower my score to a 6 though just because of the glaring mistakes. Good run, but too much wasted potential.

*checks OP* Yup, Ivory Elephant is indeed the last one we need to cover. Very boring run for sure, but it's a center of the room temple run. And.... Monica had that waist length hair. I'm grasping at straws here. But yeah, better than Silk Sash and Lucky Pig. :afro:

I gave Ivory Elephant a 5. It was your typical center of the room artifact where the team has trouble because they had to reach it from the bottom floor. But you can't really sympathize with Brad and Monica when they moved too slow and didn't take any shortcuts. If these mistakes didn't happen, then they might've reach the Elephant at least. And it is such a borign run too.

Don't mind if I do. This is your gag gift, not mine. O_O

And I also gave this run a 5. Boring and nothing special. Could've been a win if Monica didn't move too slow, and if Brad had taken more shortcuts. Another preventable loss.
