Title: Rate the Purple Parrot Run - Day 11: The Milk Bucket of Freydis
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on August 03, 2014, 11:53:04 PM
****CREDIT GOES TO THE RED JAGUARS/STONE MARKER FOR THE IDEA****

So yet another rehash topic (http://phantomstemple.us.to/index.php?topic=2709.0) has emerged. Only this time, we're rating the Purple Parrot temple runs. This shouldn't take too long, considering the Purple Parrots only have a mere 11 temple appearances. I was gonna bump the first topic, and pick up right where we had left off. But, the polls didn't get enough votes, and the topic was outdated. So I figured it would be a better idea to start fresh with a new topic. The first thread didn't last long, but let's hope this topic fares better. This thread is basically the same as all the other rating threads. Rate how much you like the Purple Parrot temple run on a scale of 1-10.

So let's get restarted, shall we? :mrpurple: We will start with "The Bone Necklace of the Blackfeet Chief." :mrpurple:

Results:
Day One - "The Bone Necklace of the Blackfeet Chief": 5.80
Day Two - "The Oracle Bowl of Delphi": 3.00
Day Three - "The Snakeskin Boots of Billy the Kid": 7.80

Day Five - "King Tut's Cobra Staff": 6.25
Day Six - "The Leopard-Skin Cloak of Annie Oakley": 7.50
Day Seven - "The Golden Pepperoni of Catherine de' Medici": 5.50
Day Eight - "The Upside-Down Compass of Henry Hudson": 5.40
Day Nine - "The Metal Beard of the Egyptian Queen": 8.25
Day Ten - "The Lost Lion Tail of Little John": 1.00
Day Eleven - "The Milk Bucket of Freydis": 9.60

Featured Episode: "The Milk Bucket of Freydis"

Artifact Location: The Observatory
Pendants: 2

I gave this run a 6. This was an alright temple run. It would've helped though if BOTH players, particularly Leah, had moved faster. If it's one positive thing I can say, Brandon did assemble the monkey in record time, and he did reach the bone necklace just before time ran out. But nothing really sticks out about this run. This definitely should've been a win in my opinion.

I gave Blackfeet Chief a 7. I don't know, I feel like some fans don't give this run a lot of credit. They act like it is another Cracked Crown type of run. Leah was a very slow frontrunner, but Brandon picked up the slack very well and even managed to grab the artifact too. This win was a little on the boring side, but I remember it for Brandon's towering height and one of the fastest Silver Monkey assemblies. This really should've been the first Purple Parrot win, but their slow speed killed their chances at a win. But it is not as bad as people make it out to be.

Once again with the Fogg Ups: It's Brandon NOT Brian. The name is right in the OP.

And I really dislike this run for some reason. Both players were too slow, and just barely reached the artifact on an EASY layout. It's not exciting at all. Sorry, but this run if anything, is a little overhyped. Way too forgettable and I expected A LOT more from them. =/

I was thinking of the Sacred Ring team for some reason. :P

I wouldn't call it overhyped. I don't remember anyone even talking about this run except for Brandon's Silver Monkey assembly. In fact, this might be the least talked about Purple Parrot episode. It definitely lacks the excitement factor though compared to Annie Oakley and Cobra Staff.
Title: Re: Rate the Purple Parrot Run - Day 1: The Bone Necklace of the Blackfeet Chief
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on August 04, 2014, 12:12:17 AM
Either way, this temple run was very disappointing. There was really no reason at all why both players couldn't have won. The layout was easy, and if Tabitha and Brett in the run before them can win, so could they. And they certainly were no speed demons either. This is definitely one of the more weaker performances. I didn't like this run at all, and they really don't deserve any credit in the least bit.

Oh yeah, and I'll be updating the OP later to include the rest of the order of the runs. I'll run the rest of the Purple Parrot runs through random generator, unless you guys have a specific order in mind. ;)

Well Oracle Bowl is coming up tomorrow if that makes you feel any better. ;) Lost Lion Tail will have to wait though. I was thinking of saving Freydis for best for last. Just like how Lawrence of Arabia is the last win we're gonna cover in the wins thread. So it would be fitting. :mrpurple:

I gave this run a 5. I'm gonna be a little more stingy with my scores in this particular set of topics to try and stay a little consistent with the "rate the win" thread.

And with a 5.8 average, time to end the poll for "The Bone Necklace of the Blackfeet Chief."

Up next is "The Oracle Bowl of Delphi." :mrpurple:
Title: Re: Rate the Purple Parrot Run - Day 2: The Oracle Bowl of Delphi
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on August 04, 2014, 11:50:26 PM
I gave this run a 3. My god was this temple run painful to watch. The Purple Parrots are known for being "the loser team," and boy what a start they got to the show. Shane was a great player, direct path aside. He was absolutely flying through the temple until his removal from the Swamp. Jackie was just pathetic. She was completely clueless and was basically not even trying in the temple. This temple run should've been reverse order of players. And even then, they still probably would've lost. Ugh, just give me tomorrow's Purple Parrot run please.
Title: Re: Rate the Purple Parrot Run - Day 2: The Oracle Bowl of Delphi
Post by: The Red Jaguars on August 04, 2014, 11:54:39 PM
I gave Oracle Bowl a 3 also. After having no temple appearances for the first half of the season, Shane and Jackie are the first Purple Parrot team to enter the temple. I expected a good performance from them since they were very strong before the temple run. But the result was like most Season 1 runs - one fast player and one slow clueless player (ex: Lucky Pig, Alhambra, Lost Lariat, and Great Seal). Shane was very quick in the temple, but unfortunately he was taken out too soon. Jackie was a lost cause and clueless. She moves so slow through every room and seemed lost most of the time. She just didn't know what she was doing. Although in her defense, the Pirate's Cove/Torch Room confusion was not entirely her fault. It took Kirk even some time to figure out what to do. Still, no excuse for that pitiful performance. Shane is the only reason that this run does not get a 1.
Title: Re: Rate the Purple Parrot Run - Day 2: The Oracle Bowl of Delphi
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on August 04, 2014, 11:55:46 PM
Wait, Great Seal had a bad player? I thought both Nick and Shay did just fine. At least Shay didn't last long in the temple anyways.
Title: Re: Rate the Purple Parrot Run - Day 2: The Oracle Bowl of Delphi
Post by: The Red Jaguars on August 04, 2014, 11:57:49 PM
*Lost Logbooks, not Great Seal. The other triple capture that day. Robert was a fast frontrunner, but Jessica was slow and a lost cause. They would've lost even if the run didn't end in triple capture.

Shay and Nick were an awesome team. One of the best teams of Season 1.  :mrsilver:
Title: Re: Rate the Purple Parrot Run - Day 2: The Oracle Bowl of Delphi
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on August 05, 2014, 12:01:30 AM
Yeah, and their scared reactions to the temple guards were priceless too. :mrsilver: While we're on the subject of temple guards, I love how Kirk says "Shane is Ghandi" when Jackie is wading her way through the Swamp. I don't know what that's supposed to mean, but I guess Kirk thinks words like "gone" and "ghandi" sound a lot alike. :P
Title: Re: Rate the Purple Parrot Run - Day 2: The Oracle Bowl of Delphi
Post by: The Red Jaguars on August 05, 2014, 12:04:51 AM
Kirk says a lot of random nonsense in Season 1. He was out of control in the Alhambra run. I guess he was trying to be witty with the "Ghandi" phrase, but it makes no sense at all. At least he was better at it in the later seasons. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Purple Parrot Run - Day 2: The Oracle Bowl of Delphi
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on August 05, 2014, 12:10:20 AM
Oh he was way worse in the Alhambra run. I mean, "She pulls up her socks because she's a cool customer," and "What a tangle web we weave!" Kirk sounded so normal in the Oracle Bowl run in comparison to Alhambra. His hosting definitely got better in the latter two seasons. ;)

Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on August 05, 2014, 11:35:33 PM
I gave this run an 8. Just like I said in the wins thread, this was a great win! :mrpurple: It was nice to see the Purple Parrots at long last score a much needed victory. Who cares if Tony took too long exiting the temple? That was just one mistake, it's not like he was Jason from Icarus, who was clueless from the start. Furthermore, this was PP Pwnage all the way. First with Leopard Skin Cloak, (the episode before them), and then this one. What more could you ask for? This was a great win, and Kelly and Tony deserved to win. :mrpurple:
Title: Re: Rate the Purple Parrot Run - Day 3: The Snakeskin Boots of Billy the Kid
Post by: The Red Jaguars on August 06, 2014, 06:46:27 AM
I gave Billy the Kid an 8 also. One of the Purple Parrots most special wins on the show. It took more than half of the show for the Parrots to get their first win, and it came from one of the most dominant teams ever! Kelly and Tony's layout may have been easy, but that doesn't stop it from getting a good score. The "Purple Parrot Pwnage" story and them getting their first win in dominating fashion is what makes this run really memorable. And the ending was pretty exciting too. The Purple Parrots should've got a win a lot sooner, but this one was a special for them. ;)  :mrpurple:
Title: Re: Rate the Purple Parrot Run - Day 3: The Snakeskin Boots of Billy the Kid
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on August 06, 2014, 03:59:11 PM
This win was definitely special for the Parrots. If they did win sooner however, then this win would feel a lot less special. And then nobody would recognize this win as much as they do now. So it was good that the Parrots got this win when they did. ;)

And by the way, I've got the rest of the Purple Parrot episodes listed in the OP. The order will go like this:

Day One - "The Bone Necklace of the Blackfeet Chief"
Day Two - "The Oracle Bowl of Delphi"
Day Three - "The Snakeskin Boots of Billy the Kid"
Day Four - "The Sacred Ring of Sultan Suleiman"
--
--
Day Five - "King Tut's Cobra Staff"
Day Six - "The Leopard-Skin Cloak of Annie Oakley"
Day Seven - "The Golden Pepperoni of Catherine de' Medici"
Day Eight - "The Upside-Down Compass of Henry Hudson"
Day Nine - "The Metal Beard of the Egyptian Queen"
Day Ten - "The Lost Lion Tail of Little John"
Day Eleven - "The Milk Bucket of Freydis"

All of this figured out via RNG list generator. I figured I'd save Freydis for the best for last. Just like Lawrence of Arabia is saved for best for last in the wins thread. Both one second wins too, go figure. So King Tut will be the next one covered after Sacred Ring. This is also listed in the OP, but I thought I might post the list here too. I think this is a good enough order here, don't you think? ;)

Title: Re: Rate the Purple Parrot Run - Day 4: The Sacred Ring of Sultan Suleiman
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on August 09, 2014, 11:36:52 PM
I gave this run a 3. Why must some of these runs suck so much? Brian completely blew the whole run at the beginning, by detouring into the Ledges. And then he doesn't even signal back the half pendant for Gracelyn. Plus, he screamed like a girl when he was taken out of the temple. Gracelyn wasn't much better unfortunately. While she was a little more competent than Brian, she moved much too slowly. And it didn't help that she passed up the half pendant too. Though I don't blame her for that, it was completely Brian's fault for not signaling back. If it's one positive thing I can say, this is the only triple capture the Purple Parrots had. And boy was this run painful to watch. This whole run was 100% Brian's fault.
Title: Re: Rate the Purple Parrot Run - Day 4: The Sacred Ring of Sultan Suleiman
Post by: The Red Jaguars on August 10, 2014, 12:51:04 AM
I gave Sultan Suleiman a 2. This run was a pretty big disaster. Too many mistakes were made, and triple capture was not the biggest problem. Brian and Gracelyn were too slow and clueless. Especially Brian. All he had to do was try all three books in the Crypt and the outcome wouldn't have happened in the first place (not to mention he would save time too.) He also made the bone-headed mistake of not signaling the half-pendant back to Gracelyn. Gracelyn was no prize herself either because she could've found the half-pendant too and she moved slow. I think triple capture was a blessing in disguise for this team. The only reason I didn't give it a 1 because it was better than Lost Lion Tail.

Title: Re: Rate the Purple Parrot Run - Day 5: King Tut's Cobra Staff
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on August 11, 2014, 11:36:16 PM
I gave this run a 7. This is a very underrated run, and it's not as bad as it's made out to be. It was actually very exciting and had a down to the wire, nailbiter ending. Sure Eusinia was easily confused, but at least she moved fast. David was the opposite. He was much more competent, but he moved a little slower. And I liked how both Eusinia and David were exact opposites and complimented each other like that. At least David reached the artifact at the last second. This team would've had a better chance at winning if Eusinia didn't hesitate so much. But not a bad run by any means. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Purple Parrot Run - Day 5: King Tut's Cobra Staff
Post by: The Red Jaguars on August 11, 2014, 11:56:26 PM
Cobra Staff was an exciting run that gets overlooked due to people thinking that it is another Anne Bonny or Lost Lariat type run. Eusinia was kind of clueless in the temple and she ran into every direction she entered, but she also was a very fast contestant and got removed with a lot of time on the clock. David was slower but more level-headed than her. So both players had their flaws, but both of their strengths evens each other out too. That is what makes this run interesting. Plus, their layout was hard and they even managed to grab the artifact. I gave Cobra Staff a 7 too because it was a strong performance that had the interesting team work associated with it.

And now this thread has surpassed the old thread. Yipee. Truth be told, I don't think I want to continue this thread. I mean, look at all the other Parrot runs coming up. I know it won't take long, but I can see all the rest of the runs getting down voted honestly.

I gave this run an 8. I know that's a tad high for a loss, but I really like this temple run. :mrpurple: Chandra was both fast and competent, and she made it very far in the time she was in the temple. Unfortunately, she made the mistake most contestants make in a temple run. Taking the elevator, instead of attempting shortcuts to the Shrine. And of course since she's on the Purple Parrots after all, she's taken out of the temple one room away. Nick did an alright job himself, even with his "put King's Storeroom key in a pedestal" strategy. Overall, this was a solid run, and I much prefer it over some of the wins this season had. If only Chandra didn't take that elevator. Darn elevator.

I like this run too, and ranked it just behind where you did with a 7. Really good run, especially for a non-win.
Title: Re: Rate the Purple Parrot Run - Day 6: The Leopard-Skin Cloak of Annie Oakley
Post by: The Red Jaguars on August 19, 2014, 11:17:29 AM
I gave Annie Oakley an 8! One of the strongest losses on the show, and probably the best Purple Parrot loss. Chandra and Nick were a solid team, but came up short because of taking a really long path. Chandra should've really avoided the Mine Shaft and used the Shrine shortcut. They would've reached the Leopard-Skin Cloak for sure if she did. Nick was a solid second runner and it was clever of him to avoid the Mine Shaft like Chandra did. Even though the team was at fault for taking the long way, the one room away guard was still cheap. They would've still lost either way because of the unfair teple guar placement. But still, a great run an I like it much better than Ahmed Baba.  :mrpurple:
Title: Re: Rate the Purple Parrot Run - Day 6: The Leopard-Skin Cloak of Annie Oakley

This is definitely the best Purple Parrot loss. Probably the only one that will rank above an 8. And I definitely prefer this run over Ahmed Baba. This is a loss, and it's much more memorable than some win that features the exact same path. :mrpurple:

I gave this run a 6. Despite the glaring error at the end of the run, it's really not as bad as people make it out to be. Chris was very fast and made great time, despite only lasting three rooms. Aqila was pretty slow, but she wasn't THAT bad. She did go back for her half pendant, had no problem with the Jester's Court, and assembled the monkey in respectable time. She also got a little confused in the King's Storeroom, but can you blame her? That temple guard scared the crap out of her! Her only REAL mistake was passing up the pepperoni at the end of the run. With Chris falling to his knees afterwards. This is a very memorable run and it really isn't that bad at all. Don't let the YouTubers convince you otherwise about how it's "the worst temple run ever." I'm betting these people haven't seen Cricket Cage to come to that conclusion.

I see to be one number behind you on every single one of these, PPF!

That trend continues here. I gave this one a 5. It's really a middle of the road run, even as far as Purple runs go.
Title: Re: Rate the Purple Parrot Run - Day 7: The Golden Pepperoni of Catherine de' Medici
Post by: The Red Jaguars on August 20, 2014, 07:32:54 PM
I gave Golden Pepperoni a 7. In the past, I probably would've given this run a 5-6 because it definitely was more average and on the disappointing side. But looking back now, I find this run to be both memorable and exciting. And this run is not as bad as people make it out to be either. Chris did a good job in his shortlived temple appearance. Aqila was slower than Chris, but she was not a bad player by any means. She completed the Laser Light Room, Jester's Court, King's Storeroom, and Shrine with less than 2 minutes to herself. That was pretty much on pace with most Season 2 contestants. The passing up the Golden Pepperoni was inexcusable, but it does not make Aqila the worst contestant on the show either. It was really just the last 3 seconds of this run that turned out bad. The ending was funny too and you can see the disappointment in Chris and Kirk at the end. It was a very memorable run and featured one of the biggest bloopers on the show. :P And it is not the worst temple run ever. Watch Golden Cricket Cage or Bifocal Monocle and come back to me then.   ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Purple Parrot Run - Day 7: The Golden Pepperoni of Catherine de' Medici
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on August 20, 2014, 08:17:06 PM
Yeah, it's a mystery to me how THIS run is considered "the worst run ever." Yet nothing is said about the likes of Bifocal Monocle and Cricket Cage. O_O At least this run was memorable, and Aqila only made one mistake at the end. Other than that, she was a pretty decent player. The criticism she gets is way undeserved. It wasn't like players like Karisa, Veronica, and Kim from Missing Weather Maps who sucked from the beginning. Plus, this was one of the first temple runs I ever saw. So it does bring back a lot of nostalgic feelings for me. ;)

I gave this run a 6. It's a pretty average run, but not nearly as bad as people make it out to be. Sherra and Derek were extremely strong pre temple, but didn't exactly measure up in the temple run. They moved pretty slow, but their layout was hard. Even if Sherra and Derek had sped up, and taken more shortcuts, they still would've lost. Also, this run is memorable for Derek dropping the monkey piece over the edge at the last second. And very poorly edited to boot. Overall, I'd say this was an average run, with a typical difficult Season 3 temple layout. But of course, Sherra is a bad person for taking a direct path. And Derek is a bad person for dropping the monkey over the edge.

Post by: The Red Jaguars on August 21, 2014, 11:45:28 PM
I gave Henry Hudson a 5. It was a middle of the road run for me. On one hand, the temple run is very boring and not memorable at all. On the other hand, Sherra and Derek faced a tough layout and they made it far taking into account their progress. If we were rating temple runs from the entire show, I would definitely give this a 6. But since we are comparing it to other Purple Parrot runs, I had to give it a slightly lower score. But still, Sherra and Derek were not bad players and their only problem was their slow speed. And their difficult layout did not help matters. Probably the most forgettable Purple Parrot episode.

I personally thought Bone Necklace was more forgettable, but whatever. But look at it this way: Tomorrow is Metal Beard, the other Season 3 run from the Parrots. At least that one was memorable. And we just rated it recently too.

Yeah, Blackfeet Chief had nothing memorable about it either. It is a toss-up between that one and Henry Hduson. :o And I love Metal Beard and hope to see everyone rate it high. Definitely look forward to rating that one.  :mrpurple:

Yay Brent is back! :mrpurple:

I take it you're busy touring again? ;) [/off topic]

By the way, I'll update the polls tomorrow. Since I now have 5 votes, I think it's safe to finally give it an update. :mrpurple:

Sounds good to me!!

And we were SUPPOSED to be leaving for a tour next week but the person in charge of booking it failed to do their job. Last time I ever leave that in someone else's hands.

So we're rescheduling for November. BUT, we have an acoustic show tomorrow that we've been preparing for. And last night I was at my friends' show. Check them out. They're called Candy Hearts.

[/sorry for all the off topic stuff]

Up next is "The Metal Beard of the Egyptian Queen." :mrpurple:

I gave this run an 8. Like I said in the "Rate the wins" thread, this was a solid Purple Parrots win. :mrpurple: I know it was basically a replica of "Dr. Livingstone" and "Bandit Queen," but both this and Bandit Queen were much more exciting. Both TJ and Randy were fast, competent, and it was great to see the Parrots FINALLY win a tiebreaker. Randy's exit plan was pretty risky, but I don't hold that against her at all. That's what made the whole run exciting. Overall, this is a very overlooked win that needs more praise, and TJ and Randy deserved to win. :mrpurple:

I gave Egyptian Queen a 9! I love this episode and Purple Parrot team. Like Billy the Kid, this was a Purple Parrot team that you can't root against at all. TJ and Randy were the last temple team for the Purple Parrots, and they broke tradition by winning a tiebreaker for them! And not only that, but they also won the temple run too.  :mrpurple: The temple run itself was exciting. TJ and Randy were definitely solid players and I also enjoyed how both players cheered for each other. Randy's exit was a little crazy and TJ's scream was a little annoying, but it made the ending also a nail biter. Even though the Purple Parrots only went to the temple twice this season, they still pulled it off with a solid performance. One of their greatest episodes on the show. :mrpurple:  :mrpurple:  :mrpurple:  :mrpurple:  :mrpurple:

Yeah, this was definitely a solid performance by the Purple Parrots. :mrpurple: Too bad we can't say the same for tomorrow's episode.

I gave this run a 2. We now go for a team you wanted to see win, to a team that never should've made it past the moat, much less make it to the temple. This temple run was just pitiful. All you need to know is that Marie led the team the whole way, and Claude just didn't belong on the show. And this was all after getting to the temple on such a lucky break. The only thing that keeps my from giving this run a 1 is Marie, like mentioned above. And Claude did find the half pendant. Other than that, this temple run was a complete disaster. Can we please just move on to tomorrow's last and final run please?
Title: Re: Rate the Purple Parrot Run - Day 10: The Lost Lion Tail of Little John

I gave Lost Lion Tail a 1. The Purple Parrots had very few temple appearances on the show, but this is the one time I wish they didn't go to the temple. And this vote is nothing against Marie either, I have no beef with her. It is mainly with Claude. After getting a free pass to the temple, this team fails big time. Marie had some struggles early in the run, but she bounces back when she reveals the first white light in the Laser Light Room. She is also removed with a reasonable amount of time for Claude to pull off the win. Claude just didn't have any idea what he was doing at all in the temple. He was painfully slow and literally lost in every room. I really wish he never found his half-pendant because I rather see triple capture instead of him pissing it away. And he got lost in the Mine Shaft.

Now, I don't have a problem with the team getting to the temple due to a screw up by the other team. Stuff happens. But when you fuck up your golden opportunity, then you will be getting hate out of the woodworks. I don't know how TPP liked this episode.

Look at it this way: Tomorrow is arguably the best Purple Parrot win on the show. Isn't that a great way to end the thread?

Of course I can't wait until we rate Freydis!  :mrpurple: It is one of the best episodes on the show for a reason. Of course, I enjoyed voting and sharing my opinion with this thread. ;) The only reason I never continued the original one was because I was loaded with so much stuff at the time that I fell behind in updating it. It is hard for me to continue something again once I have avoided it for a while.

And BTW, I never said that I wanted to see the Freydis team win more than Annie Taylor. Tarrah's team ranks high up there, but there are other teams I was pulling for Missy's win included. ;)  :mrblue:
Title: Re: Rate the Purple Parrot Run - Day 10: The Lost Lion Tail of Little John

For me, it goes like this:

Annie Taylor >>>>>>>>>> Freydis

They're pretty much tied for me. But I prefer Lucky Pillow just a little bit more. But of course, this is about Freydis here. ;) I've definitely saved the best for last, just like I (and also you in your old threads) did for the "Rate the wins" thread. Both one second wins to boot. :mrpurple:

I feel that a long thread should have a good episode for closure.  ;) So I am glad that you feel the same way. Any of the Purple Parrot wins would've been good, but I think Freydis is the best choice of the three.  :mrpurple:
Title: Re: Rate the Purple Parrot Run - Day 10: The Lost Lion Tail of Little John

Yeah, it's only fitting with it being a win and all. And continuing the trend of closing the thread with "one second wins." :mrpurple: After this poll is done, I don't know what's next for me. Didn't you want to make a separate thread just like this with the remaining 5 teams? That would be interesting to go through. Plus, it means more activity for this section of the forum. ;)

And I changed my vote to a 1. Everyone else voted for it, so I will too. Unless anyone else has anything else to add (*coughBrentcough*), then I'll update the polls tomorrow night. As long as I don't get preoccupied with something else.
Title: Re: Rate the Purple Parrot Run - Day 10: The Lost Lion Tail of Little John

I probably would've given them a 2 if Claude didn't suck so bad after getting a free pass to the temple. Marie was definitely the star of the team though - She got the team across the moat, answered all 3 questions in the Steps, won her individual game, and made good time in the temple. Claude just pissed everything away and I don't think he muttered a single word in this episode. :?
Title: Re: Rate the Purple Parrot Run - Day 10: The Lost Lion Tail of Little John

I can't believe I was stupid enough to give them a 2. What was I thinking? Actually, I should've just skipped over this one. I should've just given it an automatic 1 and move straight to the last one, Freydis. This was the worst temple run of Season 2, and I even think it was EVEN WORSE than Bifocal Monocle. Which everyone knows is the worst Season 3 run ever. Whatever, I'm done with Lost Lion Tail. I should've just given it an automatic 1. I don't care if it's cheating or not.

Up next is the final poll, "The Milk Bucket of Freydis." :mrpurple:
Title: Re: Rate the Purple Parrot Run - Day 11: The Milk Bucket of Freydis
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on August 28, 2014, 11:30:43 PM
I gave this run a 9. Freydis is by far, THE best Purple Parrot run ever, and one of the best episodes of all time. :mrpurple: So what if Tarrah moved a little slow and got confused at one point? She was very competent and knew what she was doing. This temple run (or least the layout) may be an exact replica of Buddha, but this one was MUCH more memorable and exciting. Plus, you gotta love Tarrah's leap across the Pit and her breaking the bucket in the process. Epic moment right there. And what a trooper she was lugging the broken up bucket through the Ledges, and still scoring a solo win with only one second left. Tarrah may have been little, but she was a great player and deserved to win. :mrpurple:
Title: Re: Rate the Purple Parrot Run - Day 11: The Milk Bucket of Freydis
Post by: The Red Jaguars on August 29, 2014, 12:46:34 AM
I gave Milk Bucket a 10. To me, this is the best of the best for the Purple Parrots.  :mrpurple:  I love this run a lot for Tarrah's underrated performance and the very exciting ending. I don't understand how people call her slow and her win lucky yet actually find a way to praise wins like Ahmed Baba and Buddha. Tarrah handled her layout just fine. Not every contestant has to move like Gator. She completed her rooms at a good pace. Her strongest point was when she took a faceplant in the Pit and still managed to recover from it and bring the bulky Milk Bucket though the Ledges and back to the gate for the win! Like the Paintbrush said, she was a trooper for taking a hit and still bringing the Bucket to the temple gates. That is more than what Jason or Ron could say. This win was very exciting and Tarrah was one of my most favorite female players. Her win deserves a perfect score.  :mrpurple:  :mrpurple:  :mrpurple:

I think I might give it a perfect 10 myself. Even though I gave it a 9 in the wins thread. ;) I don't know, is 9 really an accurate score?
Title: Re: Rate the Purple Parrot Run - Day 11: The Milk Bucket of Freydis

If we are comparing Freydis to other wins, then I say a 9 is fitting. But since we are comparing it to other Purple Parrot runs, I feel that it is the best of the best for them. Which is why I gave it a 10.  :mrpurple:

Up next is the final results. I will arrange it in table form from highest rated to lowest. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Purple Parrot Run - Day 11: The Milk Bucket of Freydis
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on September 03, 2014, 11:50:09 PM
And here it is, the final chart:

EpisodeScore
The Milk Bucket of Freydis9.60
The Metal Beard of the Egyptian Queen8.25
The Snakeskin Boots of Billy the Kid7.80
The Leopard-Skin Cloak of Annie Oakley7.50
King Tut's Cobra Staff6.25
The Bone Necklace of the Blackfeet Chief5.80
The Golden Pepperoni of Catherine de' Medici5.50
The Upside-Down Compass of Henry Hudson5.40
The Oracle Bowl of Delphi3.00
The Sacred Ring of Sultan Suleiman2.25
The Lost Lion Tail of Little John1.00

Naturally, all three Purple Parrot wins ends up on top. And Milk Bucket ranks the highest, as it should be. :mrpurple: And unsurprisingly, Lost Lion Tail ranks the lowest. If I were to rank all 11 Purple Parrot runs, this is probably the order I'd put them in. Maybe switch Metal Beard and Billy the Kid, and Bone Necklace and Henry Hudson. Not much else to say except like most charts, it can pretty much do all the talking.

And thanks for everyone for participating in this rather short thread. :mrpurple: I hope you guys had just as much fun voting in this as I did updating it. Any special thanks and final thoughts can go in here. ;)

Thanks for hosting this, Paintbrush.  :mrorange: For the most part, most of the Purple Parrot episodes seem to be well-liked around here. I like all of their episodes except for Lost Lion Tail and Oracle Bowl to an extent. Most of their episodes were classics for one reason or another. They are probably the only team too where their wins were the best of the best. Every other team at least has one win that no one really thinks highly of. The Purple Parrots are memorable on this forum especially. People like you, Olmec, TPP, and Brent have made the Purple Parrots memorable. Especially TPP, I wouldn't have known so many little trivia if it wasn't for him. :P  :mrpurple:
Title: Re: Rate the Purple Parrot Run - Day 11: The Milk Bucket of Freydis
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on September 04, 2014, 12:02:50 AM
Yeah, because TPP used to write all those episode summaries in the Daily Episode Log. Boy, those were the days, wasn't it? His and Olmec's summaries were always the best, since they were always so detailed. :mrpurple: And yeah, all three Purple Parrot wins are pretty well liked around here. Even if they do get some criticism at times. I also agree that Lost Lion Tail and Oracle Bowl were the two clear weakest links. Sacred Ring's temple run was pretty bad too, but at least the rest of the episode was interesting.

Also, I was gonna make a small comparisons chart for the Purple Parrot runs you managed to rank in your original thread. I know you never finished it, but I figured I could compare the old scores for the ones you did manage to cover. Would that be a good idea? Since it was part of this thread too. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Purple Parrot Run - Day 11: The Milk Bucket of Freydis
Post by: The Red Jaguars on September 04, 2014, 12:24:03 AM
I love rereading TPP's reviews in the Daily Episode Log. They were very detailed for their time and most of his opinion I agree with even today. I especially loved his excessive love with the Purple Parrots and how he hated teams like Xerxes, Smashed Printing Plate, Golden Cricket Cage, and Enormous Feather. And I agree with him too.  :mrpurple: He did have a few weird episode choices that he liked like Cosa Rara, Bent Shaving Pan, and Lost Lion Tail. Can't say that I agree with him there, but I guess some people have different tastes. :afro: Looking back at Olmec's reviews, I have to admit that he always copied TPP. He always liked the same exact episodes as TPP to the point where it seemed like a carbon copy. :afro:

But I support the rankings, even though I originally only went up to Sultan Suleiman. At least we can compare the scores forBilly the Kid and Oracle Bowl, which are on two different spectrum. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Purple Parrot Run - Day 11: The Milk Bucket of Freydis
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on September 04, 2014, 12:36:51 AM
Yeah, I agree. Those were the days. And so long ago too. Time really has flown by. Though I don't remember him saying anything positive about Bent Shaving Pan? Or Cosa Rara, I know for sure he HATED that episode. But it was so long ago, I don't remember. And I liked Olmec's episode summaries too. He was the one who wrote down advanced stats, something TPP never did. He did copy a little, but his episode summaries were good too. I mean, remember the ones I tried to write?

And as for the ones you ranked in your old topic, you only covered Sacred Ring, Oracle Bowl, Billy the Kid, and Bone Necklace. It would be interesting to compare those rankings. If you still want to see them posted that is. ;)

So, let me ask again. Do you want me to post a comparison chart for the ones you originally covered? It's only four episodes, and I didn't want to do it without your permission, since this was your idea first. So I thought I'd ask you if it was okay. If you don't want me to, I understand. Sorry to pester you, but you never really gave me a straight answer. Now, do you still want me to post it or not?
