Welcome to Rate the Artifact! I made a topic like this a while ago, but it never panned out and I accidentally deleted it before bringing it back to life. I want to try the same thing again now that some people have showed some interest. And since a couple of my topics are almost finished, I felt that it is a perfect time to host it again. ;)
Just like all the rating threads, we will rate each artifact on a scale of 1-10. You can rate them for whatever reason you like - artifact design, name, how it ties to the legend, color, etc. The polls will be open for 24 hours. So please take the time to vote in each poll. ;)

First up is John Henry's Lost Hammer:
My rating will be in the next post. ;)
-
I gave the Lost Hammer a 4. Most of the artifacts in Season 1 had a lame design and looked like some crap they found on the production set. All the Lost Hammer was just a tiny hammer. However, if you research John Henry, you will find out that he is usually depicted with a hammer of some sort. So the producers got that part right. So the artifact is pretty relevant to its historical figure, unlike most legends. Lame artifact, but an interesting legend.
-
Way to beat me to restarting this topic before I could.
And I also gave this artifact a 4. It was just about as lame as artifacts could get, and it just looked like a poor man's version of the Thornwood Gavel. Plus, you can totally see the Golden Jaguar in the background. Coincidentally another Golden Idol/Treasure Room area artifact. :mrblue:

Also, Lost Hammer and Golden Jaguar were the only artifacts located in that room space for the entire Season 1. :mrsilver: :mrblue: And the artifact is very similar to Thornwood Gavel. Although the Thornwood Gavel was a little bigger and actually looked like an actual gavel.
And I am going to try something different this time. If someone wants to request an artifact to rate for the next day, feel free to do so. ;) Otherwise, I am going to randomly pick them with a list generator. They will all be covered eventually. ;)
-
I was just gonna say that too, about both the Golden Jaguar and Lost Hammer being the only artifacts in that room space in Season 1. :mrblue: :mrsilver: And if the Thornwood Gavel was actually an artifact from Season 1, that's probably what it would look like. Because you know how cheap Season 1 was with their artifacts. Like you said, at least the Thornwood Gavel actually looked like an actual gavel.
And if I might make a request, let's rate The Stolen Arm of Shiva next. I know lame choice, but if I remember correctly, that was the first artifact you covered in your original topic of this. So why not? ;)
-
Excellent topic!!
I gave the hammer a 4. It looks like a hammer. Definitely relates well to the legend. Not overwhelming. I appreciate it for the rare use of that room space for artifacts in Season 1.
-
I am definitely going to do Shiva next since that was the original artifact we rated. :mrorange: Although it was pretty lame like most Season 1 artifacts. And I like how the Lost Hammer looks like a mallet instead of a hammer. Although it looks similar to the one John Henry carries, but much smaller. So I can let that slide. ;)
-
Also, wasn't The Lily Crested Crown of Clovis the First covered early on too in the original topic? We should cover that artifact soon too. I know these aren't exactly the best choices, but we should still keep the thread consistent with the original thread. Even if we never made it that far. ;)
-
And the Lost Hammer finishes with an even 4.00!
Next up is "The Stolen Arm of Shiva":
-
I gave Shiva a 3. This artifact is lame and uninspiring. All it was just a broken off arm that belonged to a statue. It looked like the artifact was stolen off a mannequin though. Probably some dumb prop the producers found laying around and decided to make a legend out of it. The one thing I remember though is how the Stolen Arm moved during the temple run. That was kind of interesting. Other than that, it was lame and nothing special.
-
I gave the Stolen Arm a 4. It was a lame artifact for sure, but much better than most of the other Season 1 artifacts.
-
At least they didn't use the arms that they used in the temple game for the artifact. The ones in the temple game were some flat wooden arms. :lipsrsealed:
-
I'm pretty sure they wouldn't use something THAT small. The producers standards aren't that low. ;)
-
I went with a 4. This artifact is very interesting if you see an image of it taken entirely out of context.
-
Since we got enough votes, I want to move onto our next artifact. Stolen Arm finishes with a 3.40 score.
Next up is "The Mummified Hand of the Egyptian King". This is the episode that the RNG picked next. No, I did not pick two limb artifacts in a row. :P
(http://s210.photobucket.com/user/tweesterreo/media/MummifiedHand_zps0823e8d8.png.html)
-
I gave the Mummified Hand a 6. Yes, it was literally a broken off hand of a dead mummy. It was a pretty absurd artifact to have children look for in a temple. :P However, I thought the design of it was very cool though. The details of the hand was actually pretty well done. The legend was a little absurd too, but it is not on the same level as the Shriveled Hand's creepiness. I liked the artifact design and the legend was a little interesting despite having an AYAOTD plot.
-
I gave the artifact a 5. It was another lame, broken of hand artifact and it looks like a cheap Halloween prop. Never liked this artifact.
-
I gave it a 7 for the detail of the physical artifact and for the fact that it was supposed to literally be a hand broken off a person.
-
And if you're still taking requests, can we do The Lily Crested Crown next? I know it's a lame artifact, but I remember we ranked it in the original topic, just like we did with Stolen Arm. And again, consistency.
-
And the Mummified Hand ends with a 5.50 score. :mrblue:
Next up is "The Lily-Crested Crown of Clovis I",
-
I gave the Lily-Crested Crown a 3. I don't know, I felt that this artifact looked too lame. It always looked like one of those paper crowns you got at Burger King. Either that, or something a 6-year old made in their art class. I do like the little designs on it though. But they had better looking crowns on the show, like the golden ones they used in a lot of temple games.
-
I also gave it a 3. It looks like a Burger King crown, like Stone Marker said. Lame.
-
Didn't they give this artifact out as a prop on Figure It Out? Same with the Lost Taj Mahal Turban.
-
Taj Mahal Turban I know they did. Lily Crested Crown I don't know. I think they gave out The Mask of Shaka Zulu away as well.
-
I gave it a 4. It's certainly not the best looking artifact, but idk, it was at least an effort. I guess. Or something.
-
Taj Mahal Turban I know they did. Lily Crested Crown I don't know. I think they gave out The Mask of Shaka Zulu away as well.
I just checked, and the Lily-Crested Crown was an artifact giveaway. Same with Shaka Zulu too (today it is worth millions).
-

You should purchase it
-
Yeah, lets wear a Burger King crown inspired hat. I'm sure he'll be the envy of the neighborhood. :P
Oh yeah, and I colored coded the rest of the OP. Thanks for saving "Paintbrush" for me as the first episode you didn't color code. ;) It looks like we're covering Snake Bracelet next, but we should totally rank Paintbrush soon. You know you want to. :mrorange:
-
Thanks for finishing coloring them for me. :mrred: I couldn't finish because when I came up to the Paintbrush, I was laughing so hard that I had to get away from my computer. A dried up Paintbrush? Really producers? Just kidding. Thanks for taking care of that. ;)
And the Lily-Crested Crown finishes with an even 4.00.
Next up is the Snake Bracelet. As you can see, I put a tentative schedule in the original post. But I did not put the days next to any of the uncovered artifacts. So if you want to request an artifact, I am more than willing to cover it.
Here is "The Snake Bracelet of Cleopatra":
Here's a close-up shot of it too:
-
I gave the Snake Bracelet a 7. The concept of this artifact is really neat, and it would be awesome to own a bracelet made out of a snake. However, it is kind of hard to tell what the artifact looks like since we don't get a good shot at it. It looks like some kind of gold painted coil or spring? It had the potential to be cool, but of course all Season 1 artifacts have to look like it came from a dumpster or dollar store. I still like the concept though. :mrsilver:
-
I gave the Snake Bracelet a 6. It was MUCH better than some Season 1 artifacts, but it just looked like a lame looking slinky. Like Stone Marker said, it looked like it came from a dumpster.
And laughing at the thought of a paintbrush? That's great. We should definitely cover that artifact next. And maybe it's time for me to go back to my Paintbrush profile if you're so turned on by a paintbrush. ;)
-
Thought about giving it a 7 but went with a 6. There are other, better looking artifacts still to come.
-
And just like the other thread, I am going to update this early because I will be really busy later on. ;) And with 6 votes, the Snake Bracelet finishes with a 5.67. :mrsilver:
And by popular demand, next up is "The Paintbrush of Purple Parrots Fan Leonardo Da Vinci". :mrorange:
-
I gave the Paintbrush a 2. Leonardo Da Vinci was a famous artist and all they could associate with him is a little Paintbrush with some dried up red paint on it? Couldn't they have done better like they did with other artists in episodes like Missing Eye and Priceless Portrait? I guess that is asking too much from the Season 1 producers. One of the worst artifacts on the show. The reason it didn't get a 1 though because there were worst artifacts.
-
I gave the good old Paintbrush a 3. For someone as legendary as Leonardo Da Vinci, I expected MUCH more than just some stick with paint splatters on it. Couldn't they have put more effort into it? Like Stone Marker said, I guess it was asking too much for the Season 1 producers.
Oh well, at least I can enjoy some 15 minutes of fame. Even if it's for the "wrong" reasons. :mrorange: Maybe you can do Stone Marker next. ;) :mrred:
-
I gave the Paintbrush of Karen Smith a 4.
Sure they could have done more for Leonardo. But they didn't. They gave us a paintbrush. And it sure does in fact look quite like a paintbrush. It did its job, and pretty well. So I can't knock it too much.
That said, there are artifacts that are much cooler or better looking, so I didn't want to rank it too high either.
-
I gave the Paintbrush of booyouwhore a 4.
Fixed. :mrpurple:
And I agree. For such a legendary figure, I'd expect MUCH more than some piddly little paintbrush. Oh Season 1, how you disappoint us.
-
PPF... I mean Leonardo Da Vinci finishes with a 2.83. :mrorange:
Next up is "The Ivory Elephant of Scheherazade". I picked this episode by an RNG. :mrblue:
-
I gave the Ivory Elephant a 7. Even though it is obvious that this is just a plastic Elephant, it is still a pretty interesting artifact to look at. If this was a real artifact, it would be something I would totally own. And the details of the elephant look pretty good too. And I liked the legend of this episode too. The artifact is a little boring to look at, but it is interesting than most of the artifacts on the show. :mrblue:
-
I gave the Ivory Elephant a 10. I love how this artifact looks. Also, my grandma used to have a large collection of elephants like this artifact (made out of actual materials, not plastic, of course) and I own one of them currently, which makes this artifact special to me. Also, it's cool how this is the only Medusa's Lair space artifact in S2 where the team had to take a counter-clockwise path to reach the artifact.
-
I gave the elephant a 7. It was a neat looking artifact, but others looked better.
-

That's pretty interesting. My grandma has a snowman collection that she got from different parts of the world that looks pretty neat. I always look forward to seeing them during Christmas time.
It is nice to see an artifact actually get good scores for once. All of the artifacts we covered so far (especially the Season 1 artifacts) were getting some low scores. No surprise on the S1 artifact. There are like only 3 good artifacts from that season. The Ivory Elephant looked pretty good though, but I thought they could've added a little more details to it. I do like the legend in this episode though. Despite it being utterly forgettable, the legend is the one thing I remember about Ivory Elephant. :P That is, Scheherazade telling a story every night so she would not be killed by her husband. Good legend, and I love how Kirk can't even pronounce her name. :P
-
I would've liked this artifact a lot better if it didn't look like a temple game prop. I mean, it's neat to look at, but it's not quite on Jewel Encrusted Egg level of nice looking to me. Are there any Season 1 artifact that were good, at all?
-

Yeah, I was about to mention how it looked like a temple game prop too. Same with the some of the other golden artifacts like Golden Stallion and Golden Cup.
As for Season 1 artifacts, most of them looked lame and unrealistic. I mean look how tiny Galileo's Cannonball looks. It looks like it was some Magic 8-Ball originally or something. Here is the good Season 1 artifacts IMO:
- Trojan Horseshoe (The legend is really dumb, but at least it looks like a real horseshoe)
- Golden Cricket Cage (It is more interesting than most of the Season 1 artifacts)
- Golden Jaguar (I know it looks like a temple game piece, but it actually looks like a real golden animal figurine)
- Blue Pearl (I love the legend and the design of the small Pearl.)
- Mask of Shaka Zulu (It actually looks like a tribal Mask)
-
I agree with all of those, and I thought Galileo's Cannonball looked pretty neat too. Knowing Season 1, they could've very well have used some Nerf ball, but they used a "fancier" looking ball instead. It was also funny how Jammin' Jon almost let it bounce away before he crossed the finish line. Same with Blue Pearl. At least they used an artifact that looked like a pearl, with fancy designs on it to boot.
-
I gave the Ivory Elephant an 8. It's definitely one of the better looking artifacts.
-
Ivory Elephant finishes with an 7.67. :mrblue:
Next up is "The Metal Beard of the Egyptian Queen". :mrpurple:
-
I gave the Metal Beard an 8. This was a cool artifact that had an interesting story. When you first hear about this artifact before watching this episode, you think it is something absurd like the Snow Cone or Dried Ear of Corn. But the story behind the artifact is interesting. The Metal Beard basically belonged to the husband of the Egyptian Queen, who wore it when her husband died in order to stay in power. The beard looks exactly like the ones Egyptians are portrayed with. It was a cool artifact and legend. :mrpurple:
-
I also gave the Metal Beard an 8. Very neat looking artifact, something I'd like to own too. :mrpurple:
-
I also went with an 8.
The metal beard was a well crafted artifact with a neat backstory.
-
Metal Beard finishes with an 8.20! :mrpurple:
Next up is "The Imperial Purple Robe of Empress Theodora".
-
I gave the Purple Robe a 7. There wasn't anything wrong with this artifact, but it feels too boring. I don't know, I feel like the Mine Shaft was a bizarre place for this artifact. The King's Storeroom would've been a better location. I do like the name of the artifact though at least. It was a good artifact, but just nothing special. ;)
-
7 sounds right.
It's a good looking artifact for what it's supposed to be. Not my absolute favorite but in no way bad, and it deserves a good score.
-
I gave this artifact a 5. I thought it was too boring and ugly looking. It looked like The Leopard Skin Cloak of Annie Oakley, but smaller and uglier. Sorry, but I really dislike this artifact. I expected MUCH more with an "imperial" and fancy namesake to it.
-
I think the Purple Robe and Leopard-Skin Cloak might be one and the same. The Purple Robe looks like it has a leopard pattern on the other side. The Cloak was entirely a leopard pattern, but you can see purple on the other side of it. It looks like some ugly bath robe though.
-
Yeah, I was gonna say, they do look similar. But the Imperial Robe looks smaller though. The Imperial Robe looked more like a childish "super hero" robe than it did some high and mighty "imperial robe" honestly. The Leopard Skin Cloak.... I don't know what that was supposed to be.
-
Purple Robe finishes with a 6.60.
Next up is "The Moccasins of Geronimo". :mrblue:
-
I gave the Moccasins a 5. This was yet another ugly Season 1 artifact that doesn't look like something that it is suppose to be. The Moccasins literally look like a pair of shoes that came off a baby doll. I don't know, they just look so fake. When you compare them to other clothing artifacts like the Snakeskin Boots, the Moccasins are a very disappointing artifact.
-
I also gave it a 5. Lame artifact, but I do prefer it over most of the other Season 1 artifacts.
-
I gave the moccasins a 7. They're moccasins, not sure what else they should really look like.
-
Moccasins finish with an even 5.00
Next up is "The Broken Trident of Poseidon". :mrsilver:
-
I gave the Broken Trident a 7. This was a neat and original idea for an artifact, and it was actually relevant to the historical figure they covered. I really liked the storyline they used in this episode, and the artifact name was pretty cool too. I would've rated this artifact higher if the Trident didn't look so fake. I know it is not possible to find a real broken trident, but at least make it look a little realistic. The Marble Armrest was not made out of marble, but it looked like it came from a real marble armrest. But still, it was a cool idea for an artifact and I loved the legend. :mrsilver:
-
I also gave the Broken Trident a 7, for the same reasons. :mrsilver: The trident kind of looks like a menorah too.
-
I went with a 7 also. Same reasons.
-
Broken Trident finishes with a 6.80.
Next up is "Wild Bill Hickok and the Dead Man's Hand. :mrorange:
-
I gave the Dead Man's Hand a 3. Just look at the artifact... it is literally playing cards glued together. Granted, that is what that deck of cards is called. But it feels so lazy and lame. It was kind of a neat concept though for an artifact. On a side note, this is such a deceiving artifact. Everyone thinks that it is referencing an actual dead hand, like the Shriveled Hand and Mummified Hand.
-
I also gave it a 3. I mean, it's just a pair of cards. Say it with me now: Season 1 artifacts suck!
-
I can't imagine Sarah and Josh running out of the temple with this in their hand. It was just a set of cards for crying out loud.
-
Kind of like how we're lucky Shem didn't actually escape with the Golden Earring. If he had pulled a Poseidon, he'd never find the earring.
-
I gave it a 4.
It's not the most amazing artifact ever, but again, it is exactly what it's supposed to be. So it does it's job well.
-
Yeah, I can't really think of a way to make these artifacts better. I mean a Dead Man's Hand is that exact pair of cards after all. I wish they did something a little more fancy though then just glue the cards together. I mean it would look so silly if someone brought a set of cards back to the temple gate with a victory. At least they didn't put an actual hand holding the cards or anything. ;)
-
Look at it this way: At least we didn't see any paste stick out on any of these cards. Now THAT would've looked cheap. ;)
EDIT: And I just got Post 5,000 of the Chamber! :mrred:
-
Dead Man's Hand finishes with a 3.80.
Next up is "The Missing Portrait of Hans Holbein". If you've noticed, I have been jumping around a little bit with some of the artifacts and not following the list in exact order. I am jumping around by using RNG or requests. ;)
-
I gave Hans Holbein an 8. It was a decent painting and the figure in the painting actually looks like Henry VIII. However, the episode title is a little misleading. It makes you think that the Missing Portrait is Hans Holbein when he was the one that actually painted it. The only problem I have with this artifact is that the frame is so ugly. The Priceless Portrait is a much better artifact that the Missing Portrait. It is still a beautiful artifact though and it is better than most on the show. :mrblue:
-
TRJ, haven't I been requesting to you since this thread started to rank Stone Marker sometime soon, if not next? Come on, you already ranked Paintbrush, now how about the artifact that you for some reason named yourself after? You know you want to. ;)
And I gave the portrait an 8. It was a neat artifact, and I like the frame.
-
We can rank the Stone Marker next. :mrred: Even if it will rank higher than some silly dried up Paintbrush. ;) :mrorange:
-
True, but at least Paintbrushes are easier to swallow than a Stone Marker. ;) :mrred:
-
I'm not touching that one.
I gave the portrait an 8.
-
Relax, it's a Stone Marker. What harm could such a dull artifact do? Really now. :P
-
Hans Holbein finishes with a solid 8.00. :mrblue:
Next up is "The Stone Marker of The Red Jaguars Leif Erickson". :mrred:
-
I gave the Stone Marker a 6. All jokes aside, it really wasn't a bad artifact and it actually made sense if you remember the legend. Basically, Leif Erickson left the Stone Marker behind as a sign of discovering a new land (United States). It was more detailed than most Season 1 artifacts too. Although it is nothing special and the colors are pretty boring.
-
I also gave it a 6. It was an alright artifact, and yes it will rank higher than Paintbrush. ;) It's MUCH better than most of the other Season 1 artifacts.
-
I also gave the Stone Marker a 6. It's definitely a good looking artifact, especially for Season 1.
-
Stone Marker finishes with a 6.00. :mrred:
All eyes on "The Pendant of Kamehameha" now. :mrsilver:
-
I gave the Pendant a 4. I don't what this artifact is suppose to be. I mean it looks like a nose or some tooth of an animal? I have no idea what it is suppose to be, so I really can't give it a high score. But still, at least they didn't use an actual Pendant of Life. Unlike they did with another artifact. Nothing to say here, but it would've been nice to see what the artifact is actually suppose to be.
-
I gave it a 5. It just looked like a cheap necklace.
-
I gave it a 4. *shrug*
-
Kamehameha finishes with a 4.25.
Next up is "The Stone Head of the Evil King". :mrblue:
-
I gave the Stone Head a 9. I am not sure why people hate this artifact, I thought it was an awesome artifact and it fit the legend perfectly well. The legend was also one of my all time favorite legends on the show too. I know it is a decapitated head, but it makes sense if know the legend. The details of the Stone Head are top notch too and this was a very unique idea for an artifact. Overall, a great looking artifact with a beautiful design and awesome story. :mrblue:
-
I gave it an 8. I wouldn't exactly call it "the best artifact on the show," but it was still really nice looking. And I would've taken this artifact a little more seriously if it were in Medusa's Lair instead of the Swamp. Very top quality artifact sure, but not "the absolute greatest."
-
Stone Head is a fantastic artifact. It definitely looks like the head from a statue. I gave it a 9.
-
I gave it an 8. I wouldn't exactly call it "the best artifact on the show," but it was still really nice looking. And I would've taken this artifact a little more seriously if it were in Medusa's Lair instead of the Swamp. Very top quality artifact sure, but not "the absolute greatest."
Yeah, I can't believe the producers missed a chance of putting the Stone Head in Medusa's Lair. That would've been the most obvious placement on the show. Also, Tony wouldn't have to worry about completing that room either. But yeah, it was a good looking artifact but definitely not the best though. I have seen some people hate on it in the past though, which is why I gave it some love. I guess they hate the artifact due to the bad temple run?
-
Or they don't like that it's just some well.... stone head. But I like the artifact too. At least it wasn't as creepy as say, the Shriveled Hand. And the Stone Head definitely should've been put in Medusa's Lair. Then we wouldn't have seen Tony waste a full minute in one room. Unless he somehow managed to screw up another room. O_O
-
Stone Head finishes with a 8.00. :mrblue:
Next up is "The Treasure Map of Jean Lafitte". :mrblue:
-
I gave Jean Lafitte a 2. Sorry, but most of the Map artifacts were lame. I mean they were just some folded up piece of paper. This one was even more lame because it was reused from the Map to the Lost Gold Mine episode. And why do we need two Treasure Map artifacts from the same day? One of the laziest artifacts ever on the show.
-
I gave it a 4. It just looks like a temple game prop.
-
I gave it a 5 for looking exactly like it's supposed to. It's a treasure map. It would be silly to expect much more than this.
-
Yet somehow the production crew is recycling artifacts when it's still early on in the season? I mean, a map is a map, but they could've gotten another prop for it. Even Blackbeard's Treasure Map used a different prop.
-
Oh and I agree. Though that map probably would have still looked like this, which would have sort of made it pointless.
-
Jean Lafitte finishes with a 3.40.
Next up is "The Dried Apple Half of William Tell."
-
I gave the Dried Apple Half a 6. I have to admit that this artifact is pretty absurd. I mean how could an Apple exist that long in the temple? It would be more a little more than just dried up. As absurd the artifact is, I didn't give it a low score because it actually relates to the legend quite well. After all, William Tell is memorable for shooting an apple off his son's head. But did they really need to associate a dried up apple with him though? That is taking the legend too literally. <_< I do like the details of the apple though. Overall, the concept of this artifact was definitely ridiculous. But it fits with the legend well and I like the design of it. ;)
-
I also gave it a 6. The concept of dried up food is lame, but it was a neat looking artifact.
-
I gave it a 6 as well. Seems about right.
-
William Tell finishes with a 5.80.
Next up is "The War Fan of the 47 Ronin".
-
I gave the War Fan an 8. This was a good artifact and actually looks like something they would use in China during that time period. I also like the little details like the Chinese writing on it too. Plus, the name of the artifact is awesome too. I think it could've used a little more details, but looks much better than I thought it would look like. If it was Season 1, it would probably look like it was made in an Elementary school class room.
-
I gave War Fan an 8. I really like the look of this artifact. Too bad the episode ended how it did.
-
I also gave it an 8. It's a neat artifact. One of the better ones the show had.
-
War Fan finishes with an 8.00. :mrsilver:
Next up is "Henry VIII's Great Seal". :mrsilver:
-
I gave the Great Seal a 6. I am not sure what this artifact is suppose to be? I always thought that it was a ring, but it looks like an emblem or something like that. That is what seals usually are anyways. Like most Season 1 artifacts, I don't expect something over-the-top fancy or anything. At least the producers put the "H" on the Seal. And the legend was pretty neat too.
-
I gave this artifact a 5. It just looked like an ugly cork. Give me the Discarded Seal thank you very much.
-
I gave it a 4. I don't really know exactly what it's supposed to be.
-
Great Seal finishes with a 5.00. :mrsilver:
Next up is "The Lost Lion Tail of Little John".
-
I gave the Lost Lion Tail a 7. I don't know, I enjoy this artifact even if it is pretty bizarre. I mean a lion tail ripped off a lion? How random. The design of the artifact is pretty neat and they honestly couldn't have done anything better. It was a good artifact despite the episode being a lost cause.
-
I gave it a 7. It's a tail, it's not supposed to look sophisticated looking. Blame the legend who thought that "scaring off a lion in the US" would make for a good story. That said though, the tail looks really neat.
-
I have it a 7 because it looks like what it's supposed to be. That's about the only good thing I can say about this entire episode. Good artifact.
-
Yeah, the only positive thing I have to say about Lost Lion Tail is the artifact. At least it's an actual tail. I would hate to see what the lion tail prop would've looked like in Season 1.
-
Lost Lion Tail finishes with a 7.00 (The only good thing this episode is good for. )
Since it is still my Birthday, I am going to give you guys a treat. Next up is "The Lucky Pillow of Annie Taylor". :mrblue:
-
I gave Annie Taylor a 10! This was a beautiful artifact and I love the design and colors of it. I like how the pillow has three different colors that are usually associated with Valentine's Day. It is only fitting since it is a heart-shaped pillow! Also, a pillow was a great idea for an artifact too. Good legend, beautiful artifact, and it fits perfectly with Missy's win. A 10 from me! :mrblue:
-
I gave it a PERFECT 10!!!! :mrblue: :mrblue: :mrblue: :mrblue: Best artifact ever, best episode ever, and best contestants ever. Need I say more? :mrblue:
And you better give me a special treat for my birthday too in this thread, Stone Marker. ;)
-
Lucky Pillow gets a 10
All other answers are invalid and wrong.
-
All other answers are invalid and wrong.
Truer words were never spoken! :mrblue:
-
All other answers are invalid and wrong.
Truer words were never spoken! :mrblue:
Thank you!!
-
Annie Taylor gets a perfect 10! :mrblue:
Next up is "The Trojan Horseshoe".
-
I gave the Trojan Horseshoe a 7. Like most artifacts on the show, this artifact is suppose to represent what it really is - a horseshoe. There is really nothing to say here because it actually looks like a horseshoe. Although the legend in this episode was a little bit inaccurate if there is one thing to mention. :? Other than that, this artifact is nothing too exciting to get hyper about. ;)
-
I gave this artifact a 5. I mean it's a horseshoe, I'll give it that. It does it's "job" or whatever. But there's nothing special about some oversized horseshoe. And I'm pretty sure the prop was reused as the Silver Horseshoe as well. Am I impressed with the dumb horseshoe which was so CLEARLY reused for another artifact? Nope.
-
I split the difference and went with a 6. It's a fine horseshoe.
-
Trojan Horseshoe finishes with a 6.00.
And for the Paintbrush's birthday, we are going to rate the Snow Cone of Mt. Kilimanjaro. :afro:
Just kidding! We will use "The Jewel-Encrusted Egg of Catherine the Great" as our next artifact. :mrred:
-
I gave the Jewel-Encrusted Egg a 10! It was a beautiful and very creative artifact. I mean a golden egg with jewels all over it? What a beautiful concept. It was definitely one of the most beautiful artifacts on the show. If not, the most beautiful artifact. Everything about this artifact was memorable and good. ;) :mrred:
-
I gave the Jeweled Egg a 10 as well. It's probably my 2nd favorite artifact on the show. It looks phenomenal.
-
I also gave it a 10. Second best artifact ever, next to good 'ol Lucky Pillow. :mrred: :mrblue:
And Stone Marker, I would've tanned your ass if you actually covered the dreaded Snow Cone on my birthday. ;) :mrsilver:
-
I was so close to giving you the Snow Cone, but GM1 wanted it for his Birthday. Just kidding of course. ;) And while I am here, time to update this topic. Catherine the Great finishes with a solid 10! :mrred:
Next up is "Ponce de Leon and the Lost Fountain of Youth". Also known as "The Water Bottle of Ponce de Leon".
-
I gave the Water Bottle a 3. Such a lame artifact, and I don't understand why the producers didn't just name the episode title "The Water Bottle of Ponce de Leon". It could've been a much more interesting artifact since it was associated with the Lost Fountain of Youth. But a water bottle? How lame. Definitely one of the most forgettable artifacts on the show.
-
I also gave it a 3. It doesn't even look like a water bottle. Whatever, it looks lame anyways.
-
I went with a 2. Not much to say about it really.
-
And the Water Bottle finishes with a 2.75 score.
Next up is "The Crown of Queen Nzinga".
-
I gave the Crown of Queen Nzinga a 6. I am not sure what kind of crown this is suppose to be. It looks like some kind of plant that it is suppose to go on the head. Or even lamer, a bowl with some feathers sticking out. :? But still, the artifact is interesting to look at even if it doesn't really make sense. Better than some of the artifacts on the show.
-
I also gave it a 6. It looks like a shrunken temple guard headdress. In fact, didn't someone here think it was that kind of headdress a long time ago? While the rest of the episode sucks, the artifact was pretty cool I guess.
-
Moving on, Queen Nzinga gets a 6.00. :mrred:
Next up is "The Bifocal Monocle of One-Eyed Jack".
-
I gave the Bifocal Monocle a 1. This was one of the worst artifacts ever on the show. I mean all it was just a large fake eye piece. It wasn't even a real artifact either. And if that was bad enough, they even had the nerve to paint an eye on it. :? Overall, this artifact looks ridiculous and very tacky. I am not sure who came up with the idea for this artifact, but I am sure they were the same person that came up with the Snow Cone. I guess it is only fitting for this artifact to suck like the episode.
-
One. Worst artifact ever.
-
I wish there was a 0 for this.
-
Seriously, this has to be one of the worst artifacts ever. I forgot how horrible and ugly it looked. We always talk about the Lost Lariat and Snow Cone being bad ideas for an artifact, but this is just a mess. It's bad enough that it is an Monocle, but they also had the nerve to include the eye with it. -_- What's next? Include Henry Morgan's ear with the Golden Earring?
-
It seriously looks like a Burger King toy. And I wouldn't have been surprised if The Golden Earring of Henry Morgan would've been a fake ear with an earring on it. Had that episode taken place in Season 3 instead. Because it's so easy to take seriously.
-
Ugh. This.
I actually feel like Veronica is MILDLY better, MILDLY, than she is portrayed to be. She's certainly no Sabrina or Tia. THAT SAID, that doesn't help this artifact. Had to give it a 1.
What exactly happened here??? Lol.
-
Well, it's a little hard to take anyone seriously who spends a whole minute climbing a wall. But, I suppose it was either her or the equally pathetic Red Jaguar boy who couldn't even climb a net properly. O_O
I guess what happened here is Stone Marker likes to cover all his favorite bad artifacts. Oh well, had to cover it eventually. :P
-
I will admit that the Bifocal Monocle layout was a little unfair because of the dead end. I mean hardly any Season 3 episodes have dead ends in the first place. I am not sure if teams like Bandit Queen or Metal Beard will win with this layout, although they might come close. But I find it really hard to feel sorry for Veronica though. She literally spent over a minute to climb the wall. That is worse than Tony from Stone Head spending over a minute in Medusa' Lair. :o And once she ran into her dead end, she backtracked into another uncleared room. Thomas was equally clueless where he tried the books in the already opened Crypt and ran into Veronica's dead end again. Long story short, this was one of the worst teams on the show. In fact, I believe that Bifocal Monocle is the second worst run after Cricket Cage. That's just how I feel about it anyways. ;)
But yeah, the artifact definitely sucks and is a disaster. At least the Lost Lariat looked like it was suppose to be.
-
Veronica and Thomas were a lost cause, end of story. And their layout really wasn't that hard or unfair either. It could've been like another Poseidon. A solo victory handed to them on a silver platter, but they blew it. Sorry, but they don't get my sympathy either.
Do you agree with me that this layout was a lot like Poseidon, layout wise? What do you think?
-
I say we can move on from this dreaded Bifocal Monocle. It finishes with a lowly 1.00.
Next artifact up is "Alexander and the Gordian Knot". :mrorange:
-
Oh, don't get me wrong, they weren't amazing. But if they had a different pit, that run would have been a little different. It was Veronica's lack of upper body strength that ruined it. Plus the dead end.
-
The Knot gets a 6 from me. Is a good knot. Strange artifact. But does its job. Good knot.
-
I know this sounds a little bizarre, but I actually like this artifact. I know it is just a tangled up piece of rope, but it actually makes sense when you hear the legend. The Gordian Knot is actually a real life story and not just something the producers pulled out of their ass. And I thought they did a great job with the Knot too. They pretty much nailed how the artifact should look. It could've been a tiny rope like they used for the Lost Lariat, but the large rope and knot was perfect. On the downside, the artifact at the end of the day was just a mere rope. But I think the producers hit the target for this one and the story behind it is interesting. I am giving the Gordian Knot a 7. :mrorange:
-
I gave it a 5. It was a rope, and it did its job. But it was still lame in every aspect. Not impressed.
-
Gordian Knot finishes with a 6.00! :mrorange:
Next up is "The Mush Pot Hat of Johnny Appleseed". :mrorange:
-
I gave the Mush Pot Hat a 6. I know it is just a cooking pot for the artifact, but the idea of it being a hat is pretty cool. And it fits the Johnny Appleseed legend perfectly. Although the pot must've been pretty cheap if the handle broke on it after Angela dropped it one time. Also, the name "Mush Pot Hat" sounds pretty cool too. :mrorange:
-
I gave it a 7. It was a neat looking artifact, and I liked the way it stood up in the above picture too. Even if it did look a little cartoonish.
-
I gave it a 7 for uniqueness.
-
And the Mush Pot Hat finishes with a 6.50. :mrorange:
Next up is "King Tut's Cobra Staff". :mrpurple:
-
I gave the Cobra Staff a 7. I like this artifact even though it looks like a cheap Halloween prop. I mean a staff in the design of a cobra? Pretty neat. And it looked better than most of the Season 1 artifacts. Cool artifact concept, even if the design was a little lame. ;) :mrpurple:
-
I gave this artifact an 8. I thought it looked very neat and expensive looking. Probably my second favorite Season 1 artifact next to Blue Pearl. :mrpurple: :mrorange:
-
I actually gave it a 9. The staff looked AWESOME to me!! This was a great example of a quality artifact with a great backstory to match.
-
Cobra Staff finishes with a strong 8.00. :mrpurple:
Next up is "The Melted Head of Madame Tussaud". :mrorange:
-
I gave the Melted Head an 8. It is definitely one of the creepiest and most bizarre looking artifacts on the show, but I actually like the design for this artifact. And this artifact actually makes sense if you listen to the legend. The detail of it was also very well done and it actually looks like a bust of Napoleon. Also, I like the melting detail with the wax head. On the downside though, this artifact was still a little ridiculous. But I like this artifact very much for the beautiful details and cool concept. :mrorange:
-
I also gave it an 8. Very detailed and neat looking. :mrorange: But so creepy looking at the same time. *shudder*
-
I gave it a 9. Not a great episode but a great artifact, and legend. Love this one.
-
Melted Head finishes with an 8.40. :mrorange:
Next up is "The Golden Jaguar of Atahualpa". :mrblue:
-
I gave the Golden Jaguar an 8. This was a beautiful artifact and even looked like a jaguar made of gold. This artifact actually looks like something that would've came from Season 3! I know it was a reused prop from the Golden Idols, but it was still a neat looking artifact. And the jaguar is a cool animal too, so it was a good choice to use that as an artifact. Very nice artifact, especially for Season 1 standards. :mrblue:
-
I gave the Golden Jaguar a 9. Another fantastic looking artifact!!!
-
I also gave it an 8. It looked nice.
-
Golden Jaguar finishes with an 8.25. :mrblue:
Next up is "The Golden Earring of Henry Morgan". :mrsilver:
-
I gave Henry Morgan a 7. This was probably the smallest artifact featured on the show. Which makes sense, since it was an earring after all. :P I don't really have a problem with this artifact at all either since it looks like what it is suppose to be. Although it doesn't really look like an earring from a Pirate. It looks more like one that a gypsy would wear. :P
-
I gave the earring a 4. Too fucking tiny and easy for someone to drop. Couldn't someone just I don't know.... make the damn artifact BIGGER?! Hello, this isn't Season 1 here. There's no excuse for shoddy artifact at this point.
-
I have it a 7. I mean, it IS an earring after all lol. It's gonna be smaller for an artifact.
-
Yeah, but at least The Ruby Earring of Benzibab was in some square container. And it wouldn't be a big deal if it were dropped.
And I changed my vote to a 5.
-
Henry Morgan finishes with a 6.25. :mrsilver:
Next up is "Elizabeth I's Golden Ship".
-
I gave the Golden Ship a 6. It wasn't the best artifact on the show, but at least it was interesting than most Season 1 artifacts. It looked like it was some ship in a bottle or something. Considering how most of the Season 1 artifacts looked, this one was pretty creative. However, it is not the most interesting one to look at.
-
I gave it a 7. I thought it looked very nice, like decor you'd hang in your house. I don't think there's anything wrong with it. And it is a ship after all. This was a pretty good artifact for so early on in the show.
-
I have it a 7. A very seaworthy vessel indeed!
-
Golden Ship finishes with a 6.75. :mrred:
Next up is "The Golden Pepperoni of Catherine de Medici". :mrpurple:
-
I gave the Golden Pepperoni a 4. It was one of the most bizarre artifacts on the show. I mean it was a stick of pepperoni for crying out loud! Not only was the artifact out there, but the legend itself was laughable. I mean having nightmares about pepperoni? The Great Linguine? Definitely a story that the producers pulled out of their ass. As unusual as the artifact is, I don't think it looks half-bad at all. It looked like some pepperoni at least, even if they glorified it by having it be golden. And it is way better than the Snow Cone.
-
I gave it a 3. Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame.
-
This might just be the strangest artifact of the entire show. For that alone I had to give it a few points. I went with a 4.
-
Oh yeah, and I hate to inform you guys, but the Great Linguini is not a real person.
Just saying. ;)
-
Golden Pepperoni finishes with a 3.67. :mrpurple:
Next up is "Robin Hood and Marian's Ladder".
-
I went with a 3. It looks like what it's supposed to look like but they could have put a little more effort into it.
-
I gave the Silk Ladder a 3. It was just some lame sheet that was reused from the dragon tunnel temple games. Nothing special about it and it was pretty lame like most Season 1 artifacts. Also, I thought at first that this was a real ladder made out of silk. Oh Season 1 and your misleading artifact names. But this artifact is just as lame as the win.
-
One. Stupid stupid artifact. Stupid stupid win. Everything about this artifact is fucking stupid. Next.
-
      finishes with a 2.5. :mrsilver:
Next up is "The Golden Spider Web of Robert the Bruce".
-
I gave the Spider Web a 4. Another bizarre choice for an artifact in Season 3. This one was kind of lame and uninspiring though. The legend was pretty bad and the artifact was too over-reaching. Not as bad as the Snow Cone or Bifocal Monocle, but it was a little absurd to create a spider web as the featured prize of this episode. Oh well, at least they glorified it to make it by making it gold. So I have to say the design of it looks a little neat. But still, it was just some fake looking web that was inside of a box. Pretty lame.
-
I gave it a 5. The design looks neat, but the "spider web" aspect of the artifact kind of fails for me.
-
I went with a 5. It's actually a pretty neat artifact. The temple run wasn't, lol. But that's okay.
-
Robert the Bruce finishes with a 4.75.
Next up is... "The Golden Cricket Cage of Khan". :mrsilver:
-
All bad episode jokes aside, I gave the Golden Cricket Cage a 6. It was more creative and unique than most Season 1 artifacts. I mean I know it was pretty random idea for an artifact, but at least the Cricket Cage fits the artifact description. It actually looks like a cage you would put a cricket in. If there is anything good to say about this horrible episode, it is that the artifact was pretty neat. :mrsilver:
-
I gave it a 7. I actually like this artifact. One of the best
episodes artifacts of Season 1.
-
Yeah, the artifact is something that I could even see being made in Season 3. And you're right, it is one of the few artifacts I like from Season 1. Blue Pearl, Golden Jaguar, Lawrence of Arabia's Headdress, and the Cobra Staff are the only good looking artifacts fro this season.
-
I'm sorry, but Lawrence of Arabia? You do realize that was just a cloth that just happened to be tied on a mannequin, right?
-
Well, I did like the legend at least. I guess the artifact is a little too literal though.
-
Yeah, it would've been more impressive if the mannequin head WAS part of the artifact. It's kind of funny how Cricket Cage had a better artifact, but a terrible episode. Yet Lawrence of Arabia had a very unimpressive artifact, but great episode.
-
Same with Map to the Lost Gold Mine too. The artifact was pretty lame (like most Map artifacts), but the episode was amazing. :mrblue:
I liked how later seasons tried to make the artifacts look a little more creative. Like even though "The Plumed Headdress of Cosa Rara" was also a Headdress, at least it was decorated and had a cool name attached to it. ;)
-
Yup, John Sutter too. Which was recycled into another Blue Barracudas artifact (Jean Lafitte) not long after. Yay uncreativity. :mrblue:
And that can also apply to Cosa Rara too, and even Golden Goblet. The episodes sucked, but their artifacts looked pretty neat. ;)
-
I gave the Cricket Cage a 7. And that's about the only good thing to be said for this episode.
-
Yup, that too. Just like with Lost Lion Tail, the artifact is the only nice thing to say about this episode. :P
-
Same with episodes like Xerxes, Smashed Printing Plate, and Cracked Crown. Horrible episodes, but their artifacts were great and cool to look at.
And then you have the rare episodes that were horrible and had horrible looking artifacts. *cough Bifocal Monocle cough* :afro:
-
I personally hated how Cracked Crown looked. It looked like a busted sea shell.
Agreed about Bifocal Monocle though. And on the opposite end of that, we have spectacular artifacts like Catherine the Great. Which were equally spectacular episodes. :mrred: Same deal with Sforza, with the same artifact location and filmed the same day.
-
And it looks like the Golden Cricket Cage gets a solid 7.00! It is the only thing thing that this episode is good at too.
Next up is "The Mask of Shaka Zulu". :mrred: :mrred: :mrred: :mrred: :mrred: :mrred: :mrred:
-
I gave Shaka Zulu an 8. I like this artifact and the producers did a nice job in designing it. It looks like an actual tribal mask that you would see an ancient tribe would wear. I love all the different colors used with the mask and the different markings on it too. This artifact was exceptionally well for Season 1 standards and the producers put into a lot of effort with it. Great looking artifact. :mrred:
-
Thing thing? ;)
And I also gave Shaka Zulu an 8. Great artifact for the "best win ever." What more can you ask for? :mrred: But really though, it is an awesome artifact for Season 1 standards. Quite the tall artifact there too. :o
-
Is this the tallest artifact on the show then? It even looks taller than Sir Gawain's Helmet. Although Sir Gawain still wins the title for the biggest artifact though. :P
-
Sir Gawain was the biggest artifact, Shaka Zulu had to be the tallest. It was even taller than the precious Very Tall Turban. :P
EDIT: Post 58,666!
-
SHAKA ZULU!!!!
Gets an 8. Great artifact.
-
Shaka Zulu finishes with a 8.25. :mrred:
Next up is "The Mussel-Shell Armor of Apanuugpak".
-
I gave the Mussel-Shell Armor a 9. One of the best looking artifacts on the show. I like how the producers decorated the shirt with mussels instead of making it a blank piece of cloth. Even if the shells did fall off when Gator exited the temple. :P And the legend was both silly and pretty good too. The only reason I didn't give it a 10 because the shirt part of the armor looks a little too cheap. It looks like a taped up piece of cardboard or something. But still, I like this artifact a lot and it is memorable just like the episode. ;)
-
I gave it an 8, but for basically the same reasons you outlined, TRJ.
-
I personally gave the artifact a 6. Quite frankly, I thought the artifact looked really cheap and lame. And I fail to take any artifact seriously where the MUSSELS THEMSELVES fall right off the artifact. It looked like a really cheap poster some 10 year old boy drew. Ugly artifact, not as great as its made out to be. It doesn't even LOOK like an armor. The best looking artifact on the show? Yeah right.
-
Mussel-Shell Armor finishes with a 7.25.
Next up is "The Upside-Down Compass of Henry Hudson". :mrpurple:
-
I gave the Upside-Down Compass an 8. This was a very interesting artifact where you want to hear the legend behind it. I mean an compass that is upside-down? I surely want to know why it is like that. The design though was beautiful too and for a moment it does look like a real compass. And the little details included into it is nice too. On the downside, the artifact does look a little... cartoonish and kiddy. But it is still convincing and the name is cool too. :mrpurple:
-
I gave it a 7. Very interesting looking artifact, I would've rated it higher if it weren't so small. But the concept an upside down compass is interesting because like Stone Marker said, you want to know the story behind why it's well.... "upside down."
-
I went with an 8. It's a cool, unique, well designed artifact and I like it.
-
Henry Hudson finishes with a 7.75. :mrpurple:
Next up is "The Lost Logbooks of Magellan". :mrblue:
-
I gave Lost Logbooks a 3. This was a lame artifact and all it was just a fake looking book. I know I shouldn't expect much from a book artifact, but not all of them looked like crap like this one. The Diary and Mystical Spellbook at least looked decorative and detailed. This one was just lame.
-
I gave it a 4. It looks like The Diary of Dr. Livingstone, but a lot lamer and cheaper. Nope, not impressed with this artifact either.
-
I went with a 4. It was kind of interesting. But like PPF said, cheaper looking than Diary of Dr Livingstone.
-
Magellan finishes with a lowly 3.50.
Next up is "The Ivory Hunting Horn of Roland". :mrred:
-
I gave Roland an 8. It was a cool looking artifact with a nice size and detail. It looks exactly like a hunting horn that we have seen in other media sources. It wasn't the best artifact though, but I really enjoyed it and the producers nailed the appearance of it. :mrred:
-
I also gave it an 8. Very neat and detailed looking. :mrred:
-
8 sounds about right. This is one of the better looking artifacts. And is luckily NOT made of actual ivory.
-
Roland finishes with a solid 8! :mrred:
Next up is "The Electrified Key of Benjamin Franklin." :mrblue:
-
I gave the Electrified Key a 7. I know it was just a simple old key, but it was actually a pretty accurate artifact if you pay attention to the legend. And the key actually looks like it was electrocuted by lightning. I like this artifact and how it fits perfectly with the legend. The idea may have been simple, but it was still pretty detailed and had a cool name. :mrblue:
-
I also gave it a 7. It was neat looking, but it was a little too small, and way too simplistic.
-
Definitely a really cool looking artifact. Just wish it would have been a little cleaner in design. I know it's supposed to be kinda rustic looking though. Gets a 7.
-
Electrified Key finishes with a 7.00. :mrblue:
Next up is "The Helmet of Joan of Arc". :mrred:
-
I gave Joan of Arc a 4. Like most Season 1 artifacts, the Helmet looked lame and like a cheap prop you get at a Halloween store. If it was featured in a later season, it probably look better like Sir Gawain. But instead, it was just some cheap plastic Helmet that was an eyesore to look at. It's not the worst idea from Season 1, but it was still laughable to look at.
-
I gave it a 5. Not a terrible artifact, but not that impressive either.
-
Had to go with a 4. It's not too impressive but it gets the Season 1 pass from me. I'm sure a Season 2 or 3 version of this would have been quite impressive.
-
Joan of Arc finishes with a 4.25. :mrred:
Next up is "The Golden Stallion of Ali Baba".
:mrorange:
-
I gave the Golden Stallion a 7. It was a pretty good looking artifact, although I am not too crazy about a stallion as an animal of choice. It is not as cool as the Golden Jaguar IMO, which I liked much better than the stallion. Aside from the animal choice, I don't have a problem with the artifact design and at least the Stallion looks pretty fierce and convincing with the gold colored. I just like the Golden Jaguar better. ;)
-
I gave it a 6. I wasn't really impressed with it. It just looked like a temple game prop. Golden Jaguar was definitely better.
-
Golden Jag is better but I still do like this one a lot. 8.
-
And the Golden Stallion finishes with a 7.00. :mrorange:
Next up is "The Thornwood Gavel of Judge Roy Bean". :mrorange:
-
I gave the Thornwood Gavel a 5. While this artifact was nothing but a Gavel, it looked too cheap and cartoonish for some reason. It looks like it was made by a little kid or it was designed for a caveman. And it was just an over sized hammer at the end of the day. Better looking than the Lost Hammer at least. I do like the crazy legend behind the artifact though. :mrorange:
-
I gave it a 7. It looks really neat and detailed. It's one of the better Season 3 artifacts honestly.
-
I gave it an 8. Bum episode but great looking artifact!
-
Thornwood Gavel finishes with a 6.5. :mrorange:
Next up is "Lawrence of Arabia's Headdress".
-
I gave Lawrence of Arabia a 4. The artifact is pretty lame. After all, it was just a piece of cloth around a mannequin's head. Nothing creative or special about that at all. But at the same time, at least it looks like a headdress that someone from that time is suppose to wear. Plus, at least they included a mannequin head with it instead of just being lazy and throwing it somewhere in the room. But still, it was a lame artifact.
-
I gave it a 3. It's just a piece of cloth. Nothing to write home about.
-
I gave it a 5. It's not amazing, but it does it's job well.
-
Lawrence of Arabia finishes with a 3.75.
Next up is "The Dried Ear of Corn of Sojourner Truth".
-
I gave Dried Ear of Corn a 2. What a lame idea for an artifact. Sojourner Truth is an interesting historical figure, but you give her a dried up piece of corn as an artifact? Were they desperate for an artifact idea or something? The Dried Apple Half is not too bad because it actually is relevant to the legend and looks kind of neat. But the Dried Ear of Corn? It is both lame and impractical. The only reason it doesn't get a 1 is because at least it look a little detailed. There are still worst artifacts we heaven't covered yet. :?
-
One. Worst artifact ever. There's nothing worse than this tripe.
-
I actually like this artifact a lot! I meant to give it a 7 but clicked 8 by accident lol. I think it's unique and funny. Not a great episode, certainly a strange artifact, but one that I do enjoy!
-
Interesting, it is rare for these polls to get two extremes. :P
I am not a fan of this artifact because I thought it was a lazy attempt to find an artifact to associate with Sojourner Truth. I mean the Dried Apple Half makes sense because of how it relates to the legend. But even then a vegetable or fruit is still a weird artifact choice. The Dried Ear of Corn is definitely one of my least favorite artifacts, but I don't think it is the worst. I can't wait until we rate the artifact that came from a mountain. ;)
-
This artifact was stupid, point blank. How can anyone like such tripe? Sorry, but I'm not convinced at all. It might actually be worse than the stupid Snow Cone. I don't know, am I wrong for thinking this?
-
No not at all. It IS a strange artifact. It's not going to appeal to everybody. And that's okay. If we all shared all the same opinions, these conversations would never go anywhere.
This one is just really goofy and that definitely plays to a certain side of my personality. I enjoy nonsensical things sometimes. It has to be done right.
-
Yeah, and Snow Cone certainly was not done right. That reeks of "artifact pulled out of producers ass." O_O Speaking of that artifact, we should rank that one next. Since I'm pretty sure we haven't covered it yet. :P
-
And the Dried Ear of Corn gets a 3.00.
And by popular demand, next up is "The Snow Cone of Mt. Kilimanjaro". :mrsilver:
-
I gave the Snow Cone a lowly 1. This is the worst artifact on the show IMO. You don't even have to look at the artifact to tell that it is going to be a disaster. After all it was... a Snow Cone. Just like the Paintbrush said, it felt like the producers pulled this artifact out of their ass. It didn't help that the legend was a complete joke too. In fact, here is some inconsistencies (http://phantomstemple.us.to/index.php?topic=2549.0) in the legend if you are interested. And the artifact doesn't even look like a Snow Cone. -__________________-
Worst artifact ever. I would give it a 0 if I could.
-
One. Even before I opened up this topic, I knew damn right what I was gonna vote for. -_-
-
I couldn't see any reason to give it anything but a 1. :P Even if it looked better, it was still a Snow Cone. There is no way that I could ever think highly of that. O_O
-
I always thought the Room of the Ancient Warriors armor was part of the snow cone. Like it was some weird looking headdress. And even if THAT were the case, it would still be a bad artifact.
-
I wanted to give it something more than a 1. But I couldn't. 1.
-
And let's move away from this horrible and useless artifact. Snow Cone finishes with a lowly 1.
Next up is "The Cracked Crown of the Spanish King". :mrorange:
-
I gave the Cracked Crown a 6. It was an interesting artifact, but I never thought that the crown would be part of a piece of stone. Which isn't a bad thing because it makes the artifact more interesting. I would rate it higher, but the artifact seems way too tiny. I forgot how small it was. It was almost as small as Henry Morgan. I hate this episode with a passion, but the artifact is pretty neat. The only downside was that it was too small. ;)
-
I gave it a 5. It's interesting. But it could have been a little better looking.
-
I gave it a 2. Terrible artifact, it looks like a broken sea shell. Neat looking artifact? You're kidding, right?
-
Cracked Crown finishes with a solid 4.
Next up is "The Medal of Sir Edmund Hillary". :mrsilver:
-
I gave Sir Edmund Hillary a 6. I like this artifact even though it looks like some Medal you got in elementary school for winning a competition. It is definitely one of the tiniest artifacts on the show. And the design of the Medal is pretty cool when you see it close up. And the legend was memorable too for being the only one where the historical figure was actually alive. I wish the artifact was a little bigger though. But still not bad compared to most Season 1 artifacts. :mrsilver:
-
I also gave it a 6. The
pendant medal itself looks kind of like a golden snowflake, but it's better than most of the other Season 1 artifacts.
-
Gave it a 7. I think it's a pretty decent Season 1 artifact.
-
Sir Edmund Hillary finishes with a 6.50! :mrsilver:
Next up is "The Silver Horseshoe of Butch Cassidy". :mrorange:
-
I gave Butch Cassidy a 6. It was a pretty good artifact with the silver coloring. The only problem is that we had a Horseshoe artifact before, and the only difference with this episode is that it was painted silver. So that is the only reason why I didn't rate Butch Cassidy higher. I wouldn't be surprise if the Trojan Horseshoe was the exact same artifact as it. Not a bad artifact though, but there were more creative ones on the show.
-
I personally gave it a 5. Not the best artifact, and that fact that it's a potential recycled artifact kind of turns me off as well.
-
I actually gave it an 8. I like this one. It's good looking and it makes total sense.
-
Butch Cassidy finishes with a 6.25. :mrorange:
Next up is "The Pearl Necklace of Gwalior". :mrblue:
-
I gave the Pearl Necklace a 9. This was a beautiful artifact and the pearls actually look real too! It is not some fake and hand-made garbage like they would do in the past *cough Jeweled Necklace cough*. Even if the artifact has little to do with the legend. One of the most realistic looking artifacts on the show, and it gets a high score for that very reason. :mrblue:
-
I gave it an 8. It's a neat artifact, much better than Jeweled Necklace.
-
I have it a 9 as well. Really really good artifact.
-
And the Pearl Necklace finishes with a 7.80. :mrblue:
Next up is "The Shriveled Hand of Efoua". :mrorange:
-
I gave the Shriveled Hand a 3. This was one of the most hideous and creepiest idea for an artifact on the show. It was literally some broken off hand that was kept by a tribe of cannibals. The whole legend itself was bizarre and sounded like some AYAOTD plot. Unlike the Mummified Hand, the Shriveled Hand looks fake and like some cheap Halloween prop. Bizarre legend and cheap + fake artifact = low score.
-
One. Ugly artifact. A shriveled hand? Gross.
-
I gave it a 2 for effort lol.
-
Shrived Hand finishes with a 2.50.
Next up is "The Golden Chains of Zenobia". :mrorange:
-
I gave the Golden Chains a 6. All it was just some chain necklace spray painted gold, but it is not entirely a bad artifact at all though. I mean it looks convincing at least and wasn't really disappointed with the design of the artifact. It looks like what its suppose to be, and the legend behind it was kind of interesting too.
-
I also gave it a 6. It was a nice looking artifact, but other necklace artifacts were better.
-
6 sounds about right!
-
Zenobia finishes with a 6.00! :mrorange:
Next up is "The Lost Whale Bone of Pytheas". :mrorange:
-
I gave the Lost Whale Bone a 3. I don't know why, I just don't like this artifact at all. It was just some oversize bone that looked lame and cartoonish. It kind of feels like it almost came from Season 1. :| Not only that, but the legend was pretty lame too. I am not too crazy of a large bone, which is why I gave it a low score. :?
-
One. Stupid artifact, stupid episode. Hate.
-
I am glad that I am not the only one that dislikes this artifact. And I am not a fan of this episode at all either. You don't know how many times I have seen it thanks to Nick GaS.
-
Yeah, it just looks some laying around bone you'd find in a museum. And of course this is the episode that was played a million times on Nick Gas. And the only episode (at the time) where we got a production number out of it. I don't know how lucky of a number "115" is though.
-
I gave it a 1 because I hate this legend.
-
I like how the results on the poll are parallel. Either two people voted for 3, or two people voted for one.
-
And that also makes it easy for me to update. Pytheas finishes with a lowly 2.00.
Next up is "The Lucky Pig of Amelia Earhart." :mrblue:
Close-up:
-
I gave the Lucky Pig a 3. It was an ugly artifact that did not even look like a pig. Do you expect me to believe that Amelia Earhart carried something so ugly looking around? It looks like it was made by a 3 year old. And why a pig for an artifact? Did they make it because Kristen made it to the temple? Dumb animal choice, stupid design, and a crappy episode in general. Another low scoring artifact.
-
I gave it a 2. Terrible artifact, even the close up is ugly.
-
Ugh.
Okay.
Pigs are like my favorite animal.
How did they fuck this up?
Even for Season 1 this pisses me off.
I gave it a 3 because it's a pig. I guess. It's a kinda pig.
-
Seriously, it's a terrible artifact. It just looks like a piggy bank. Even the Cricket Cage had more thought put into it.
-
I never thought of the day someone would say Golden Cricket Cage is better than another episode. But I agree though, this artifact sucked. Lucky Pig finishes with a 2.25.
Next up is "The Silver Saddle Horn of Hannibal". :mrred:
-
I gave the Silver Saddle Horn a 3. For those of you who were confused on what the artifact was suppose to be (like I was), a Saddle Horn is the back part of the saddle that you use on a horse. Example:
With that being said, it was a lame looking artifact. I mean a broken part of a saddle? That is pretty lame and uninspiring. And it doesn't even look like the real thing either. It was some dumb piece of hardware someone spray painted silver. Was it really that hard to get a real saddle horn? Oh Season 1 and your lame artifacts. :?
-
Cricket Cage was only good for its artifact, which was MUCH more creative than some pig. Not good when even the very worst temple run ever has a better artifact and actually looks like a cage.
And I gave the Silver Saddle Horn a 2. Like Stone Marker said, I don't even know what "that" is even supposed to be. That doesn't look anything like a silver saddle horn. Terrible Season 1 artifact, again.
-
Silver Saddle Horn finishes with a 2.25.
We have rated a lot of bad artifacts lately. Let's try something that actually looks good. And since we are halfway through the topic now, I think we can pick a good one to rate. ;)
Up next is "The Snakeskin Boots of Billy the Kid". :mrpurple:
-
I gave Snakeskin Boots a 10! For a pair of boots, the artifact looked genuine to the point where it looks like real Cowboy boots. Usually, clothing artifacts looked cheap and lame on the show. But the producers nailed the artifact design and there is no complaints from me at all. I also like the design on the boots too. This was a great artifact that fit perfectly with a great episode. :mrpurple: One of my most favorite artifacts on the show. ;)
-
I gave it an 8. It was a nice artifact and a great episode, but best artifact ever? I don't know, I think that's exaggerating a little bit. Sorry, no offense. =/
-
I gave it an 8. It was a nice artifact and a great episode, but best artifact ever? I don't know, I think that's exaggerating a little bit. Sorry, no offense. =/
I wouldn't say the best artifact ever. ;) There are other artifacts I like better like Jewel-Encrusted Egg, Sforza, Annie Taylor, and Sir Gawain. But it still ranks in my top 10 though. Maybe a 10 was too generous. My original score was a 9, and that is what I might change it to. And it is much better looking that the Moccasins.
-
But Moccasins was from Season 1, that doesn't count. ;) But yeah, Lucky Pillow and practically the whole last filming days had much better artifacts.
-
I went with an 8. They definitely look extremely authentic. But they should. This should have been the EASIEST artifact on the entire show to get right.
-
I agree. I mean, how exactly can you screw up boots? Thankfully they got it right here.
-
I am going to update this one now since we have the usual amount of votes. I am also changing the score to a 9, which was my original vote for this artifact. Snakeskin Boots finishes with an 8.25. :mrpurple:
Next up is "The Missing Eye of David." :mrsilver:
-
I gave the Missing Eye an 8. I know it was a body part artifact, but I thought it was very well crafted and actually looked like it came from a statue. It was also a pretty unique idea for an artifact. At first, I thought it was going to look like the Bifocal Monocle with a painted eye. But they did a pretty good job with it. This was a memorable and good concept for an artifact. ;)
-
I also gave it an 8. It was a neat looking artifact, but it really wasn't that impressive. It was just a broken down piece of a sculpture. You would find that with ANY artifact, so it really isn't that "new" of a concept. But it was better than Bifocal Monocle.
-
I also gave it an 8. It was a neat looking artifact, but it really wasn't that impressive. It was just a broken down piece of a sculpture. You would find that with ANY artifact, so it really isn't that "new" of a concept. But it was better than Bifocal Monocle.
Very true, there were quite a few of them on the show:
Cracked Crown
Buddha
Shiva
Marble Armrest
There are probably some I am missing, but those are broken off pieces of artwork. ;) I forget about most of them snce they were pretty forgettable or terrible.
-
Yeah, Shiva is the worst example of that. It was just a broken off arm. I think you covered all the "broken up" artifacts too. Because I can't think of anymore either. At least this artifact looked like a statue, and not like a Burger King toy. *coughBifocalMonoclecough*
-
Talking about "missing the target" with an artifact. Not only does the Monocle look horrible and childish, they even had to nerve to paint an eye on it. What a horrible way to start out Season 3. :afro:
-
Yeah, that's something you'd expect in Season 1. I wonder how big the Missing Eye was. I'm sure it wouldn't have been so easy to carry out of the temple. Unless of course it was like the Belly Button of Buddha, being flat and easy to carry.
-
9. They did a good job on this one and it actually required some craftsmanship
-
I agree. This artifact looked like it could've come from Season 3. Since that season almost always had the most detailed artifacts.
-
Missing Eye finishes with an 8.25! :mrsilver:
Next up is "The Discarded Seal of Ivan the Terrible".
-
I gave the Discarded Seal a 4. I don't know, I am not a fan of this artifact at all. It is tacky and the color of it is ugly. It looks like some cheap ribbon you won in Elementary School. Being from Season 3, I expected it too look a lot better. Although I love the legend in this episode at least. Which sort of saved it from getting a lower score. But it was still childish and silly looking. Great episode, but an eye sore of an artifact. :?
-
I gave it a 2. It looks stupid. It just looks like some cheap ribbon.
-
Discarded Seal finishes with a 3.00.
Next up is "The Keys to the Alhambra". :mrred:
-
I gave Alhambra a 1. What kind of artifact is this? It looks like a pair of keys that janitors carry around, if you want to call them that. It looks as almost if they were fake. They probably took a set of keys to their studio and threw it on some rock in order to make an artifact out of it. How lame and what an eyesore.
-
Definitely one. It doesn't even look like keys. Worst Season 1 artifact ever.
-
More like the Dried Dog Turd from Beneath the Clean Up Crew's Shoes.
-
That's an insult to dog turd. The artifact.... doesn't even look like anything. O_O
-
Alhambra finishes with a lowly 1.00. Pathetic, just like the episode itself.
Next up is "The Comet-Embroidered Battle Flag of William the Conqueror".
-
I gave the Battle Flag a 6. It was a neat idea for an artifact, but the design of it was so cheesy. What the hell is up with the sun on it? Why does it have a human face on it? I don't know why, it always make me chuckle looking at it. Also, the name of the artifact is a little too long too. I think we would've been fine with "Battle Flag" for the title. ;) Not a bad artifact, but the ugly design and long name detracts from it.
-
I gave it a 4. Ugly and unimpressive artifact that doesn't even look like a flag in ANY way. And the episode title is way too long.
-
And I had a feeling you weren't gonna fit the whole episode title either. Guess I'm exempt from having to type out the whole episode title now. :afro:
-
Agreed, the name of the episode title is really long and sounds kind of stupid. Sometimes I feel they did that on purpose because they really didn't need the "Comet-Embroidered" part. I mean "The Battle Flag of William the Conqueror" would've been just fine. :? I don't see them getting fancy with the "War Fan" title.
-
Yeah, I hated the title. And the artifact. Too cartoonish, it doesn't even deserve to be rated higher than 5 in my opinion.
And by the way, am I exempt from abbreviating like I mentioned above or not?
-
I am just teasing you when I say you have to type out the episode. ;) The title is way too long and I almost always use "Battle Flag" when talking about it. ;) And I think I am going to lower my score too. The artifact is called Battle Flag, yet we get some stupid ass sun with a human face on it. So lame.
-
I know you're teasing, you just never quoted my other post. ;) But yeah, I really do hate this artifact. It just looks like some cheap sports "flag" you see in games. And I don't even like sports. By Season 3, you expect better than that.
-
I enjoy the flag. It's interesting. Gave it a 7. The episode is pretty average, but it's a neat artifact.
-
Episode with really long title finishes with 5.75.
Next up is "The Broken Wing of Icarus".
-
I gave Icarus a 4. The artifact is a pretty big eyesore even though it looks like the producers tried to make a wing out of it. All the artifact was just a bunch of feathers glued on to a piece of cardboard. It looks like a hot mess with how they created it. :? It was a cool legend, but the artifact is pretty lame.
-
I gave it a 3. Stupid artifact and stupid episode.
-
Also went with 3.
-
Icarus finishes with a 3.25.
Next up is "The Lost Love Letter of Captain John Smith". :mrred:
-
I gave Lost Love Letter a 2. All this artifact was just a piece of paper in an envelope. :| Seriously, it felt like the producers weren't even putting any thoughts into their artifacts. I mean that is the best they could come up with? The only reason I didn't give it a 1 because I thought the artifact name was interesting. I mean it is a pretty neat title to type out with the 3 L's and everything. Other than that, a totally uninspiring artifact.
-
We're covering Lost Love Letter in two different threads? O_O
And I gave it a 3. Lame artifact, but it doesn't "bother" me as much as other artifacts. And the artifact name isn't that impressive at all.
-
Gave it a 3. What's to say? It's a love letter. In an envelope. At least it looks like it. Unlike those keys from a few days ago.
-
Lost Love Letter finishes with a 2.50. :mrred:
Next up is "The Plumed Headdress of Cosa Rara".
-
I gave Cosa Rara a 6. I love the different colors of the feather of the headdress. They look beautiful and almost like a bird. It kind of looks similar to the temple guard headdresses though? Not exactly the same since the feathers were small for them. On the downside though, this episode had one of the most absurd legends. I mean a conversation with a horse? Talk about digging at the bottom of the barrel for a plot. But aside from the joke legend, the artifact looks pretty neat.
-
I gave it a 7. I actually really like this artifact. I especially like the colors of the feathers. The rest of the episode is reprehensibly bad, but at least they got one thing right with the artifact. Didn't we once think that was a temple guard headdress?
-
I don't think it is the same headdress as the temple guards, although it is not a bad guess either because Legends producers like reusing their props for artifacts - Anne Bonny, Golden Jaguar, Silk Ladder, and Milk Bucket were all artifacts on the show at some time. ;)
Here is how the temple guard headdress usually looked like (taken from the "Lost Taj Mahal Turban" run):
The feathers were tinnier and it looks like the headdress symbol is different too. But it is not a bad observation though and I am surprised the producers didn't actually reuse this. :afro:
-
I know they aren't actually the temple guard headdresses, since the temple guard ones are MUCH bigger, and darker. But it wouldn't have been too bad of an idea to use it as a prop though. Since like you said, producers always threw together props, passing them as artifacts. ;)
-
I agree, I think the temple guard Headdress would look fine too. But I think they did a pretty good job with the artifact right now and I actually like it. Which is odd, because I hate the Cosa Rara episode with a passion. It is just like Golden Cricket Cage where the artifact is actually nice but I hope the rest of the episode burns in a fire. :afro:
-
Yeah, Cosa Rara's artifact is the only thing I even like about the episode. I like how the blue, green, and yellow feathers look together. I would even say it looks better than the temple guard headdress. Same with Cricket Cage. Great looking artifact, but horrible episode.
-
Cosa Rara finishes with a 6.67.
Next up is "The Mask of the Man in the Iron Mask". :mrblue:
-
I gave Iron Mask a 9! This was a very interesting artifact and legend. It was one of those artifacts where you had to hear the legend in order to find the story behind it. The legend itself did not disappoint and it is one of the gems about this very forgettable episode. The mask itself has a creepy yet awesome design. Too bad the lighting in the picture kind of ruins it. The producers should've spent more time fixing the episode title though. :P
-
I gave it a 7. It was a neat artifact, but it wasn't THAT impressive. Too dark, and it really doesn't look like a mask at all. Not my favorite, sorry.
-
Oh yeah, and the episode title was just ridiculous. Neat artifact, great legend, but "The Mask of the Man in the Iron Mask?" Seriously? Why couldn't the producers just call it "The Man in the Iron Mask?" Plus, this episode was extremely forgettable. But of course, this is about the artifact.
-
I gave it a 10. This is a great artifact! Good legend, the artifact looks good, this is what you want to see.
-
And Iron Mask finishes with an 8.25. :mrblue:
Next up is "Galileo's Cannonball." :mrsilver:
-
I gave Galileo a 6. Even though the Cannonball looks like a Magic 8-Ball, this is one of those artifact where it would be impractical to base it on a real life cannonball. I mean a real cannonball would be too heavy and hard to come across. So the producers did a good job trying to come close to an actual cannonball, especially for Season 1 standards. Even though it bounces away when Jammin John drops it multple times. Although I had to take a point off for the lame "pizza line" in the legend. You can tell the producers forced that on in the end. Even Kirk thought it was lame! :P
-
I gave it a 7. I really like this artifact actually. At least it actually looks like a cannonball. It's not the greatest artifact ever, but it's MUCH better than most Season 1 artifacts.
-
Yeah, this is one of those artifacts where you can't really make it look like the real thing. I like Galileo's Cannonball better than the Silver Cannonball. All the Silver Cannonball was one of those kick balls painted silver. Now that is pretty lame. Galileo's look closer to an actual cannonball. And it was one of the first artifacts ever, so I can give the producers a free pass. ;)
-
And even for an early Season 1 artifact, it's still pretty good. The Silver Cannonball looked alright too, but Galileo's Cannonball looked much better. ;)
-
Gave it a 7. It looks exactly how it should. But this really shouldn't be difficult to do. So it doesn't score mega high with me. 7 feels fair.
-
Galileo finishes with a 6.25. :mrsilver:
Next up is "Pecos Bill's Lost Lariat."
-
I gave Lost Lariat a 1. Why? Because all it was just a piece of rope. -_- Seriously, this had to be the most uninspiring artifact on the show. I am sure the producers spent many restless nights coming up with this idea for an artifact. At least with the Gordian Knot they tried to make a design out of it. But this is by far one of the worst and uninspiring artifacts on the show. The only that beats it is Alhambra.
-
I gave it a 2. It's an uninspiring artifact for sure. But I thought Alhambra was way worse.
-
I gave it a 3 because it looks exactly how it should. But it's still uninspiring.
-
Lost Lariat finishes with a 1.60.
Next up is "The Mystical Spellbook of the Imperial Wizard."
-
I gave Mystical Spellbook a 5. This is one of those artifacts that I use to praise and like, but looking at it now I forgot how lame it looks. I mean it doesn't even look like a real book. It looks like some lame prop from a child's play. Are you telling me it was that hard to make a book look like a spellbook? And the racist legend didn't help matters either. No producers, not all Asian names sound the same. -________- The only thing I like about this artifact is the name which sounds awesome to say.
-
I also gave it a 5. Like Stone Marker said, it doesn't even look like a book. Very uninspiring artifact even for Season 3 standards.
-
I went with a 6. It's better than a lot of other artifacts.
-
Moving on now, Imperial Wizard finishes with a 5.33.
Next up is "The Collar of Davy Crockett." :mrsilver:
-
I gave the Raccoon Collar a 2. This was one of the laziest ideas for an artifact on the show. All it was just a cheap collar with a Pendant of Life on it. I guess it passed off as an artifact because for a second Kirk thought Adam was carrying an actual Pendant. Such a lame and uninspiring artifact. The only reason it didn't get a 1 because I don't think it was the worst artifact and it looked like what it is suppose to be. Horrible artifact and so lazy like most Season 1 artifacts.
-
I gave it a 1. It's a pendant, too lazy and stupid for artifact.
-
I gave it a 2. Meh.
-
Raccoon Collar finishes with a 1.75. ;)
Next up is "The Oracle Bowl of Delphi". :mrpurple:
-
I gave Oracle Bowl a 4. Like most Season 1 artifacts, this one looked really cheap and lame because the producers didn't put much though into it. It looked like some bowl that was made in your elementary school art class. Not very creative at all. The reason I didn't give it a lower score because at least it looked like a bowl. And I like the name of the artifact too. It could've been much better, but I don't mind it too much.
-
I gave it a 5. Nothing special about it.
-
Also went with a 5. It's not special but it's not like, sad either.
-
Oracle Bowl finishes with a 4.50. :mrpurple:
Next up is "The Levitating Dog Leash of Nostradamus." :mrorange:
-
I gave Nostradamus a 7. This is one of the most unique and craziest ideas for an artifact on the show. I mean a Levitating Dog Leash? This is definitely one of those artifacts where you want to hear the legend about. And the legend itself was quite good and silly at the same time. I felt that the prop looks a little cheap though. Looks like some novelty gift or some cheap crap you get from K-Mart. But I do like the unique idea for an artifact and the silly legend. ;)
-
I also gave it a 7. It was a neat artifact, but I wouldn't call it unique. It bordered on childish and a little ridiculous to be honest with you.
-
Levitating Dog Leash finishes with a 7.00. ;)
Next up is "The Jeweled Necklace of Montezuma".
-
I gave the Jeweled Necklace a 1. Seriously, producers?! This is the best you could come up with for a necklace? It is literally a bunch of beads that you can find in any art kit. I am convinced one of the producers 6 year old daughter made this. They couldn't find a real necklace like from their wife to use? This is one of the laziest ideas for an artifact ever. And they had no excuse for this either because the Bone Necklace and Pearl Necklace looked decent. Whoever made this should've been fired.
-
Definitely one. Terrible artifact, they could've done so much better with SUCH a legendary figure. Pathetic.
-
Pathetic is too generous to describe this artifact. :afro: Which is strange, because the other episodes that day (Sultan Suleiman, Cosa Rara, Lost Lion Tail) had great looking artifacts. I honestly expect to see this from Season 1. Hell, Season 1 could probably have done better than that. And Montezuma was indeed a legendary figure. Even the Lost Lariat looked more accurate than this. :afro:
-
Yeah, I agree. Kind of sad when the BEST episode on that production day has the absolute worst artifact. I mean, even Cosa Rara looked better, as did the Lost Lion Tail. I wouldn't even wear that necklace. I think this might be the worst artifact ever. Either this or the Keys to Alhambra. :afro:
-
It was obvious they spent the rest of the budget on pottery for the King's Storeroom. 1.
-
And the Jeweled Necklace finishes with a lowly 1.00. :afro:
Next up is "The Secret Map of the Bandit Queen." :mrred:
-
I gave Bandit Queen a 7! Most map artifacts were lame on the show, but I actually like this one. It was very detailed and looked like an actual map that the Bandit Queen used. It wasn't just some lame folded up map like the other ones in the past. This is why Season 3 had the best artifact because they actually put thought into them. And the legend was one of my favorites on the show too. ;) Good looking artifact, neat legend, and a great episode. :mrsilver:
-
I gave it a 6. Sorry, but I'm just not impressed with this artifact AT ALL. It's just some big piece of paper. It's just a map. It's not that groundbreaking and it's exaggerating to say it is. It really did just look like a lame, folded up map. I don't know, is it wrong that I don't like this artifact at all? =/
-
Nothing wrong with that. All of the Map artifacts were pretty lame on the show. I just feel that this is the best of the best. Otherwise, the other ones were just some folded up document. The Missing Weather Maps is the worst one. :afro:
-
The Useless Map was a better map in my opinion. Very detailed and looked like an actual map. The Secret Map to me just looked like some huge, blown up piece of paper. Even when Zac grabbed it, it just looked too "papery." The rest of the episode was fine sure, but the artifact was less than impressive.
-
Gave it a 7.
-
With 6 votes, I think we can move on. Bandit Queen finishes with a 6.83. ;) :mrsilver:
Next up is "The Lost Taj Mahal Turban of Aurangzeb".
-
I gave the Taj Mahal Turban a 9! I really like this artifact and how much effort the producers put into it. I liked it much better than the Very Tall Turban because the producers put more thought into it. The inclusion of the Taj Mahal on it was a nice addition and it looked like the real thing. The jewel also spiced the artifact up too. Great artifact and the fact they added a historical landmark like the Taj Mahal on it was a good idea. This artifact is MUCH better than Ahmed Baba. ;)
-
Honestly, I gave this artifact a 5. I'm sorry, but I personally hate this artifact. And I mean really hate it. Why? Because it's ugly, and it's extremely dull looking. This looks really thrown together like the producers weren't even trying at all. Or like it was bought at some store or something. I don't see even a hint of thought put into this "thing." Come on, are these producers meaning to tell me that this artifact passes for high quality and special? I don't buy it at all. The jewel is also cheap and gaudy looking. It's not even close to being one of the very best looking artifacts ever. It's ugly and extremely cheap looking. It doesn't even look like a turban at all. It looks like a cheap table decoration, or one of those lanterns used for parties. I honestly prefer the Very Tall Turban to this utterly ridiculous thing. How this was given out on Figure It Out is beyond me. This artifact is extremely unimpressive and far from amazing. It's one of the most dull artifacts I've ever seen. Sorry.
-
I went with a 7. It has some good detail and I do like it. It's not my favorite artifact but it's better than a lot of them.
-
It may be better than most artifacts, but it's so dull and boring looking. Like I said above, it doesn't even look like a turban, at all. I don't know, I think it's exaggerating to call it one of the most amazing artifacts ever.
-
It's nice to see the votes spread out. ;) I am not surprised to see others feel differently about these artifacts. I like this artifact because the Taj Mahal is one of my favorite historical landmarks. But it totally looks like one of those lanterns you see at parties now that you mention it. Plus, the legend for this episode is pretty lame. I mean Needmore Rupees? I think Brent's score is more fair than mine. I think I am going to give the artifact an 8 instead. ;)
-
Yeah, the legend is definitely the worst. I mean, what on earth is Needmore Rupees? Or however you spell it. O_O
And vote changing has been enabled. ;)
-
I like how all the votes are spread out! Taj Mahal Turban gets a 6.50.
Next up is "The Missing Weather Maps of Charles Lindbergh." :mrred:
-
I gave Missing Weather Maps a 1. We are near the end of Season 2, and the producers are still using rolled up pieces of papers as artifacts? So lame and lazy. It makes me wonder if the producers found some random piece of paper and rolled them up to call it an artifact. If you look closely, you can see some detail on the map too. If this was Season 1, I would give it a free pass. Bot not for the end of Season 2. Which is why it gets a lowly 1.
-
Definitely one. It looks like a used cigarette. Did the producers pick it up from the streets or something? Gross.
-
Went with a 2 just to differentiate between this one and the worst of the worst.
-
I think this may actually be the worst of the worst. At least from Season 2. I don't think I have anything positive to say about it.
-
I am going to move on now since there is nothing remarkable about this artifact (or episode). Weather Maps finish with a 1.25. :mrred:
Next up is "The Royal Torque of Queen Boadicea". :mrred:
-
I gave Queen Boadicea a 6. This artifact is suppose to be a golden necklace, but it looks so cheap and fake. First off, why did they keep the ugly black "display" for the necklace? Secondly, it looks like a necklace for someone that has a triple chin. Unless Boadicea was a giant, this artifact looks so unrealistic. :? I do like the designs on the Torque though. Other than that, the producers "missed the target" with this one.
-
I also gave it a 6. It looks nice, but like Stone Marker said, the cyber foam (?) completely ruins it. The Ruby Earring of Benzibab wasn't even bad for that. It doesn't even look like a necklace either. It's very hard for me to take it seriously.
-
It wasn't like they needed the black foam at all either. They could've just laid the Royal Torque against the skeleton. Or even put it around the neck of it like they did with the Red Sash. That would've looked cool. One thing I forgot to add is that I liked the name of the artifact too. "Royal Torque" sounds much better than "Golden Necklace". That would've been too much Season 1 if they called it by its literal name.
And I forgot about the Ruby Earring being in a case too. But that one actually makes sense and it doesn't retract from the artifact like the case does for the Royal Torque. And Benzibab was also a giant, so the earring size is pretty accurate. I like it much better than the Torque, although it is not as great as the other episodes on its day like the Scabbard and Good-Luck Watch. ;)
-
Yeah, I agree. At least the blue container went well with the ruby earring itself. The black foam looked way too cheap. It was like the producers were reverting back to their Season 1 ways of making artifacts look cheap. I agree that the artifact would've looked better hanging around the skeletons neck. Imagine what a screencap of that would look like. It's a decent artifact, and I like the episode title/artifacts name. But, that's about it.
-
Went with a six also. It looked alright. A lot better than some.
-
Queen Boadicea finishes with a 5.80 (5 votes).
Next up is "The Diary of Dr. Livingstone". :mrblue:
-
I gave Dr. Livingstone a 5. Not much to say about this artifact, except it was some old book. It was obviously some random book the producers found and told a story about it. There is nothing great about it, but there is nothing really bad either. At least it doesn't look childish like the Mystical Spellbook. I wish they would've added another name to the artifact though. Like "The Missing Diary of Dr. Livingstone" or something like that. "Diary" is just so bland. :?
-
I gave it a 4. Unimpressive, oversized book that looks way too cartoonish. Don't like, next.
-
Went with a 5. Not much to say because it already got covered lol.
-
Dr. Livingstone finishes with a 4.50. :mrblue:
Next up is "The Belly Button of Buddha". :mrblue:
-
I gave Buddha a 6. Even though the artifact looks cheap when Jennifer brings it out of the temple, I think the producers actually made a decent effort with the artifact when it comes to Season 1 standards. I mean on at first glance it does looks like a Belly Button piece of statue. But when you see it up close, you can tell how cheap it looks and the jewel is also pretty ugly too. But this is one of those artifacts where it is hard to make it look like it is suppose to be. So I am going to give the producers a little free pass here even though it is not the best of the best. ;)
-
I gave it a 5. Once again, Season 1 has failed to deliver. A belly button? It doesn't even look like one. I don't even know what that is. Do these producers just like to be uncreative and idiotic? I don't like this artifact either. =/
-
I gave it a 7. It's not my favorite artifact, but it's decent looking and I appreciate the weirdness factor. This is one of the strangest artifacts from the entire show.
-
Yeah, this is one of the most bizarre ideas for an artifact on the show. I mean a Belly Button? I know it belongs to a statue, but couldn't they had thought of something else to associate with Buddha? Like the Paintbrush said, it didn't even look like a Belly Button. They probably would've been better off choosing something else to associate with Buddha. And on that note, Buddha finishes with a 6.00. ;)
Next up is "The Bent Shaving Pan of Jedediah Smith". :mrorange:
-
I gave Bent Shaving Pan a 5. I don't know, I am not really a fan of this artifact. Maybe because a Shaving Pan is a pretty weird item to associate with a historical figure. It doesn't even look real and something they found in the garbage. This artifact is pretty boring just like th entire episode.
-
I know I disagree with everyones opinions too much, and I know you're tired of it. But I'm gonna do it yet again here. Like that's anything new. I gave this artifact an 8. I don't know, is it wrong that I like this artifact? Is the artifact really THAT bad? Come on you guys, it looks really nice. It looks like it really could be a shaving pan, and it looks really pretty and high quality. Even the "bent" artifact itself isn't distracting. Found in the garbage? That's exaggerating, I think this artifact looks wonderful. I HATE the rest of the episode, but the artifact is the only thing they got right. This is honestly one of my favorite artifacts, and one of my favorites in Season 3. This season had A LOT of nice looking artifacts, and this is one of them. Unless you have another reason why this artifact is so bad.
-
There is nothing wrong with liking it. Usually, it is me that rates the artifacts high and you rate them lower. As for me, this artifact just doesn't pull me in. Maybe because in a season where there was a lot of high quality and unique artifacts, this one didn't really stood out. I mean it is just a giant metal pan that was damaged. But at the same time, I can see the appeal in it too. It is definitely one of the most unique artifacts from Season 3 and on the show. ;) And at least it was relevant to the legend, unlike most artifacts. I remember it for Jedediah Smith taking the Shaving Pan and hitting a bear on the head with it.
-
Yeah, the legend was pretty interesting. Plus, wasn't the artifact bent because of the bear being hit with the pan? The rest of the episode was downright putrid, but at least the artifact looked neat, and had an interesting legend. And I never thought I'd ever have anything nice to say about such a filler episode. The artifact is pretty much the only thing that saves it, though you could say that about a lot of episodes.
-
Yeah, Jedediah Smith took his Shaving Pan beat smacked the bear in the head a few times with it. The legend was probably the only thing I liked about this episode. I know it was silly, but it was like Apanuugpak where it was entertaining at least. I think I am going to change my score to a 6 for this artifact too. I gave the Royal Torque a 6 and that artifact looked cheap and fake. At least the Bent Shaving Pan looked like a shaving pan.
-
And I'm gonna lower my vote to a 7. At least the votes will be a little closer together now.
EDIT: Vote change enabled.
-
Six. For reasons.
-
Bent Shaving Pan finishes with a 6.00. :mrorange:
Next up is "The Red Sash of Tokugawa Ieyasu". :mrblue:
-
I gave the Red Sash a 7. All the artifact was just a a giant red cloth, noting special or great at all. In fact, I think the Silk Sash looks better than this artifact. The legend was also pretty lame too when they added lines like "I'm grounded for two weeks with no TV?!" to it. I do like how they wrapped the Sash around the skeleton's body though. Other than that, nothing great about this artifact.
-
I gave this artifact a 5. It's nothing special, it's just a red cloth.
-
6. True it's nothing special, but at least it looks fairly nice.
-
Red Sash finishes with a 5.75. :mrblue:
Next up is "The Sacred Ring of Sultan Suleiman". :mrpurple:
-
I gave the Sacred Ring a 6. It had the potential to be a really neat looking artifact, but they ruined with the size of the artifact. I mean the artifact looks more like a bracelet than a ring! I know an actual ring would be too small, but so was the Golden Earring and it worked out alright. I do like the little jewel designs on the ring though. If they made the size of the ring a little smaller, then I would've given it a higher score.
-
I gave it an 8. Very nice looking artifact, one of my all time favorite artifacts on the entire show. I don't care how small it is.
-
I actually gave it a 9. One of the better looking artifacts.
-
Yeah, I think the artifact looks great. Honestly, I prefer it over the WAY too tiny Golden Earring.
-
Sacred Ring finishes with a 7.50. :mrpurple:
Next up is "The Silver Cannonball of Grandy Nanny".
-
I gave Grandy Nanny a 6. I don't know, I don't really like this artifact. All it was just one of the kickballs painted silver. So boring and uninspiring. And the whole legend in general was a bit absurd too. I felt that Galileo did a better job with the Cannonball artifact than this episode. It wasn't a bad artifact, just boring and outclassed by Galileo's Cannonball.
-
I gave it an 8. The artifact looks just fine to me. Very detailed looking, and very pretty. It doesn't look thrown together or very poorly painted at all. I personally love this artifact, even if the rest of the episode was lacking.
-
We can thank the producers for NOT using the real Grandy Nanny legend. You know, the one where they had her shooting cannonballs out of her ass.
-
I don't think an ass artifact would even be possible. That was just for the legend. The producers aren't THAT stupid. =/
-
I know, I was referring to the story. ;) I am surprised they even came up with that idea. Seems like something you would find on some satire teen comedy show. :o But yeah, the artifact is the only good thing about this episode.
-
Yeah, and this is very early on in the season too. When otherwise most of the Season 1 artifacts looked like crap. So for early Season 2 standards, this artifact is pretty good. ;) But yeah, their original story was ridiculous.
-
I went with a 6. I mean, it's a cannonball. What can be said? Lol.
-
Grandy Nanny finishes with a 6.75. :mrorange:
Next up is "The Marble Armrest of Xerxes".
-
I gave Marble Armrest an 8. It was a beautiful Season 3 artifact and the material it is made from looks almost similar to marble! And considering the artifact is a broken piece of an armrest, it looks like pretty good. The whole episode may have sucked, but the artifact did look beautiful. ;)
-
Giving the armrest a 5. Sorry, but I not only hate the entire episode, I HATE the artifact even more. It's ugly, cartoonish looking, and it doesn't even look like it was made from marble at all. It doesn't even look like an armrest either. Calling the artifact beautiful is exaggerating, it's a terrible artifact. It's ugly and just looking at that piece of shit makes me want to retch. Just like this poor excuse of an episode does. Nothing saves this episode, not one thing. I absolutely hate it, sorry.
-
I enjoy the artifact. Not so much the episode. Gave an 8.
-
It's really hard to take an artifact seriously when it doesn't even look like the object/thing itself. In this case, an armrest. It just looks so dull and rusty looking. I just don't get the appeal, at all. This is not a high quality artifact in the slightest in my opinion. I really don't like this artifact. =/
-
Marble Armrest finishes with a 6.75.
Next up is "The Codebook of Mata Hari." :mrsilver:
-
I gave the Codebook a 3. All it was just a tiny book that the producers found and decided to tell a story about. Nothing special or exciting about it at all. Like most of the book artifacts on the show (Dr. Livingstone and Mystical Spellbook), it will receive a low score for being lame and uninspiring. Although at least the producers put "M. H." on the books for Mata Hari's initials. It would've been too lame if they used just some old book. On a different note, this was one of my favorite legends on the show. But it will not save this artifact from getting a low score.
-
I agree. I gave it a 4. It's good looking but it's not special at all.
-
I also gave it a 4. Lame artifact, and what's with the chain on the book?
-
Mata Hari finishes with 3.75. :mrsilver:
Next up is "The Ruby Earring of Benzibab". :mrsilver:
-
I gave BENZIBAB!111!11! an 8. It was a neat looking artifact like the other artifacts from that day. First off, this is how an earring should look like and not some random tacky and tiny earring *cough Henry Morgan cough*. And the blue case also fits perfectly with the artifact too. Good artifact and interesting legend. And a big improvement over Henry Morgan. :mrsilver:
-
What Stone Marker said. :mrsilver: But I gave this artifact a 7. Very neat artifact, but it's a little too small for me. Oh well, at least it's in a "case" of some sort. The Golden Earring certainly can't say that. :P
-
I gave it an 8. It's really nice looking. Sure a bit small, but it is an earring after all.
-
BENZIBAB111!!!!!!11! finishes with a 3.75. :mrsilver:
Next up is "The Walking Stick of Harriet Tubman." :mrorange:
-
I gave Harriet Tubman a 6. I know this artifact was just a stick, but it actually looks like what it is suppose to look like. I mean this looked like an actual stick that Tubman used for walking. It could've looked like any old random stick, but the producers actually made it look like a cane. Plus, it is pretty relevant to the Harriet Tubman legend. At the same time, there is no reason to get excited for a stick too. But I don't really mind this artifact. ;)
-
I gave it a 3. I hate this artifact. A stick, seriously?! Are you expecting me to take it seriously? Even if it is the point of the artifact. Not your best Season 2, not your best. Easily one of the worst artifacts of Season 2. Hate.
-
Gave it a 5. I mean sure it's just a stick. But it's supposed to be a stick. Yeah, weird idea for sure, but also kind of unique. At least it wasn't yet another map artifact.
-
It's really hard to take any artifact seriously when it's a stick. Even when it's the point of the artifact, like I said above. I'm not impressed in the least bit. It's by far one of the weakest artifacts of Season 2. And Harriet Tubman is supposed to be a legendary figure too.
-
Harriet Tubman finishes with a 4.50. :mrorange:
Next up is "The Golden Cup of Belshazzar". :mrred:
(Close-Up)
-
I gave the Golden Cup a 5. It looked like some lame plastic cup you get at the dollar store. Not only that, but the jewels were obviously fake and probably came from the same store the cup came from. At the same time though, this was the FIRST artifact on the show. So the producers probably didn't put a lot of thought into it since they had to worry about how the whole episode would pan out. For that reason, I gave the artifact a little break. Not the most impressive artifact, but at least it lives up to its name and at least they tried making it look like it was some treasure.
-
I gave it a 7. I happen to think it's a very nice, high quality artifact. But the size ruins it.
-
I would have said 7 but it WAS the first artifact on the show, so I was generous and gave it an 8.
-
Exactly, this was the first artifact on the show. While the size of the artifact does look like a temple game prop, it's very pretty looking and very high quality. That's good for an early Season 1 artifact. It's a cup, and a very fancy one at that. The producers hit the nail on the head with this one.
-
I agree with you guys. If you compare it to Attila the Hun, both that artifact and Belshazzar are almost alike. Except Attila the Hun was slightly higher quality. But the Golden Cup was also the very first episode ever. So I am going to raise my score to a 6. It was pretty respectable. ;)
And speaking of Belshazzar, it finishes with a 6.25. :mrred:
Next up is "The Much-Heralded Helmet of Sir Gawain." :mrorange:
-
I gave Sir Gawain a 9! This was one of my favorite artifacts on the show. Now this is what a real helmet should look like, not the fake crap from Season 1 with Joan of Arc and Genghis Khan. I love the details, the name of the artifact, and the legend behind it. :mrorange: The only reason it didn't get a perfect score was because of the sheer size of the artifact. I thought the Helmet was a little too big. I mean it is almost half the size of Tiffani! :o Overall though, great artifact for a great episode. ;) :mrorange:
-
I gave it a 7. Very nice artifact sure, but the size completely ruins it. I'm sorry, but it's extremely hard to take it seriously when it's as cartoonishly oversized as it is. Seriously, what were the producers thinking making too big? =/
-
It really should've been half the size of it right now. No doubt that this was the biggest artifact on the show. I mean look at Tiffani struggling to get it out of the temple. :o
-
Seriously. When even Tiffani can't even carry the damn thing, you know you need a smaller artifact. That's why I REFUSE to give it a high score. Way to go, producers. You really know how to make an artifact proper size. Inexcusable. Good artifact, but not THAT great. Look at that thing for crying out loud. Do these producers NOT realize how young these contestants are? Goddamn.
-
I gave it an 8 for being hilariously oversized.
-
Sir Gawain finishes with a 7.75. :mrorange:
Next up is "The Helmet of Genghis Khan". :mrred:
-
I gave Genghis Khan a 3. What an ugly looking and very cheap artifact. It is like the opposite of Sir Gawain where there was no thought put into it. It was probably part of some Halloween costume that they decided to use for an artifact. Then again, it is Season 1 so this is the best they could come up with apparently.
-
I also gave it a 3. It doesn't even look like a helmet, at all. It just looks like some toy hat.
-
Gave it a 2. This could have been done way better.
-
Genghis Khan gets a 2.50. :mrred:
Next up is "The Dragon Lady and the Blue Pearl." :mrorange:
-
I gave the Blue Pearl a 10! I don't care how lenient this score is, this was one of my favorite artifacts on the show. :mrorange: It was very beautifully detailed and I couldn't expect it to look any better. And wait... this was from Season 1? I would've never guessed if I have never seen the episode. Definitely the best looking artifact from Season 1. I love the legend behind it too, one of my all time favorites if not my most favorite legend. ;) This is one of those artifacts I wished I owned. :mrorange:
-
I gave it a 9. Does anyone else think this was the best artifact of Season 1? I think so. ;)
-
I definitely believe that this is Season 1's best artifact. The only one that I think highly of is the Golden Jaguar. ;)
-
Yeah the Golden Jaguar looked nice, but I like the Blue Pearl better. It's definitely an artifact I'd like to own. ;)
-
I gave the blue pearl a 9.
-
Dragon Lady finishes with a 9.25. :mrorange:
Next up is "The Secret Battle Plan of Nathan Hale". :mrsilver:
(Seriously, this is the best image we have of this artifact. There is actually no official close-up of it).
-
I gave Nathan Hale a 1. This is one of the most laziest ideas for an artifact on the show. All it was just a rolled up piece of paper. I could forgive this a little bit if it was Season 1. But even for the first day of Season 2, they should've put more thought into it. :? I mean look what they did with other "paper" artifacts like Bandit Queen and Useless Map. Such a lame and lazy artifact. Pretty fitting for this crappy episode.
-
I gave it a 2. It just looks like a temple game prop. Nothing special.
-
I think that one of the players had to collect Battle Plans during one of the temple games?
-
They had to collect a bunch of scrolls in the team game if that's what you mean.
-
Gave it a 2. It's nothing's special.
-
Nathan Hale finishes with a 1.50. So pathetic, like the episode.
Next up is "The Two-Cornered Hat of Napoleon". :mrred:
-
I gave the Two-Cornered Hat an 8. This was a pretty good artifact, and it looks like something that Napoleon would actually wear. I also like the name of the artifact too. It makes the hat sound "special" or something. The only thing I don't like is that "flower design" or whatever it is suppose to be. Looks a little tacky. But still, it is a good artifact. ;)
-
I gave this artifact a 6. The artifact looks nice I guess, but I find it extremely hard to take an artifact seriously when it's some "bent out of shape" hat. It looks really cheap looking, and the flower design is ugly. It's a lame artifact, nope don't like it. =/
-
Napoleon's hat actually was suppose to look disproportioned and that is how he is commonly depicted with it. You can tell the Legends producers hand-made the hat though, which is why it looks a little tacky. They probably would've been better off going out an borrowing a hat from a theater instead of making it themselves. If this was Season 3, it probably would've looked like way more realistic. With that in mind, I think I am going to lower my score to a 7. It really could've been better, but at least they didn't make it up. ;)
-
Yeah, I remember the legend depicting that very same picture. But, I don't know, it's still hard to take an oddly shaped hat seriously. Although I do like the way the hat is propped on a pot in the King's Storeroom. Especially when the pots were green for the temple run. ;)
-
Didn't Carly even knock one of the pots down? I thought that was pretty neat too. I actually liked it when the producers used the features of the room to display their artifacts. Like how they have the Sacred Ring on the Dark Forest tree arm, the Red Sash around the Headless King, etc. ;)
-
Yeah, she grabbed the hat, and the pot just falls over. And I also liked the way producers utilized some of the artifacts, like the ones you mentioned. It certainly made for some interesting camera angles, and screencaps for us. ;)
-
I gave it a7. It's a good hat!
-
It may be nice looking, but it is far too weird for me. Which is why I don't like it as much.
Oh, and vote change enabled.
-
Two-Cornered Hat finishes with a 6.75. ;)
Next up is "The Star of Sultan Saladin." :mrsilver:
-
I gave Sultan Saladin a 6. What is this artifact suppose to really be? It doesn't look like some star that I've seen. Actually, if you listen to the legend you will know that this artifact is actually suppose to be a jewel shaped like a star. With that in mind, I think it was more creatve than most Season 1 artifacts. Even if the design is a little bit "out there".
-
I also gave it a 6. It's MUCH better than most Season 1 artifacts, but it really doesn't look like a star. I don't know what that's supposed to be honestly.
-
I gave it a 7. I enjoy this one.
-
TRJ, whenever you read this, there's something I'd like to ask you:
Do you mind if I take over the rest of your polls? And by that, I mean literally all four of your polls that you have running currently. It's just my way of making it up to you for the way I've treated you, and for what I did to this forum. I feel like I should do this for you. So next time you log in, and if you're okay with it, can I take over your polls from here? I'll completely understand if you say no and order me not to touch it. I just thought I'd ask your permission first. Since you did create this poll after all. ;)
-
If you want to, go for it. ;) But you really don't owe me anything. I am over what happened in the past and ready to move onto these again. I mean we need really Legends discussions here after all. I don't mind continuing these polls since we are back in action again. But if you want to help, I do appreciate it. ;) :mrred:
-
So it's settled then, I'll take over your polls from here. And feel free to overuse every smiley possible in all the threads. :mrpurple: :mrpink: :mrpurple: :mrpink:
First things first, I need to update the scores for the likes of "Two Cornered Hat" and "Secret Battle Plan" in the OP. Then we'll get to the next artifact. I'll update this post as soon as I'm done recording everything. ;)
And The Star of Sultan Saladin finishes with a 6.25 average. :mrsilver:
Up next is "The Bullet-Riddled Handbag of Belle Boyd"
EDIT: And the OP has been updated. With all the proper artifacts, scores, and proper days. I only took care of this topic for now. I'll cover the rest of your threads tomorrow. ;)
-
I gave this artifact a 7. The bag looks nice, and the bullets look authentic. Even if those are just gaudy looking jewels. But kudos to the producers making it look realistic. It certainly fits in with the theme of the legend. But the rather small size of the bag is what drags it down for me. It's so small it looks like a camera bag honestly. But I really have no problems with this artifact whatsoever.
Also, I don't think we've covered this one, have we? If we have and I overlooked it, feel free to let me know. ;)
-
Nope, we haven't covered Belle Boyd yet. ;)
I gave Belle Boyd an 8. It was one of my favorite artifact names on the show. The legend was also very interesting and one of the few I remember to this day. I also liked the bullet holes details too. It actually looked like the bag was shot with bullets. On the downside, the artifact doesn't really look like a handbag. It looks like some medicine bag or something like that. But still, creative artifact name and nice legend.
-
Yeah, like I said in my above reasoning, it looks more like a camera bag than it does a handbag. Even in the legend, the picture of the handbag depicted (right word?) was much bigger and actually looked like a purse/handbag. Oh well, at least they got the bullet parts right. ;)
-
I gave it an 8 for the same reasons everyone else said.
-
Yay Brent is back! :mrpurple: :mrpink:
And now that this poll finally has four votes, I'll update the poll later tonight. ;)
-
And with a 7.25 average, time to end the poll for "The Bullet-Riddled Handbag of Belle Boyd."
Up next is "The Lucky Medallion of Atocha." :mrorange:
-
I gave this artifact a 7. I like the silver "medallion" portion of the artifact, and it does actually look like a medallion. And it looks like the drawn medallion portrayed in the legend, so the producers were definitely accurate there. What drags it down for me is that the artifact is a little bland looking. Maybe that's just because the artifact is blending in a little too well with the dark and gray Mine Shaft. Otherwise, a fairly nice, high quality artifact.
Also, if I might make a request, I think we should cover either Priceless Portrait, or Good Luck Watch for last. I was thinking the former personally, with it being a high quality looking portrait and everything. Both are arguably some of the best artifacts on the show, and I figure we should end this thread with a bang. And since this is your thread Stone Marker, I figure I'd consult you about it first. How does that sound? ;)
-
I gave the Lucky Medallion a 6. I agree with you that the artifact was pretty bland looking. It was too tiny and the artifact itself had nothing really to do with the legend. I mean who is Atocha? I am guessing it was suppose to be a town or something, even though there is no mention of it at all in the legend. I don't know, I just felt like this artifact could be a little better like the Lucky Pillow and Applewood Amulet from that day. Great episode, but it could've been a little higher quality. ;)
BTW, I vote for Priceless Portrait to be featured last. That was one of the best artifacts on the show even if there was a naked Paintbrush girl inside of it. That score will be the most interesting one. ;)
-
Not to mention, it looks like the medallion is missing the "necklace" portion (whatever it's called?) on top of blending in way too much with the room. And you're right, the medallion had nothing to do with the legend whatsoever. And of course we have no idea what Atocha even is either. Great episode, like most of the episodes that day, but the artifact was a little too much on the bland side. Nice looking "medallion" though. ;)
And okay, Priceless Portrait it is for the best for last then. Which FYI, I'm not the nude poser. You got the wrong gal to feed your porno fetishes. :afro:
-
Someone gave the Lucky Medallion a 10? Interesting, but I don't see how it could rank that high. It was probably the least impressive artifact that day. I think the Electrified Key looked better than that! The name is cool and a Medallion is a good idea, but it is just not a high quality artifact at all. The Electrified Key actually looked like a key that was struck by lightning. I wonder if they were rating the actual run rather than the artifact? :?:
-
Seriously, this artifact is boring as shit. I might actually change my vote to a 6. Whoever it was, they obviously didn't read the title of this topic. So now I have to reset the polls. Even if few people have voted in it. *Sigh* Just what I need. Should I reset these polls or not? =/
Guys, this is the rate the artifact topic, NOT rate the temple run. Vote change enabled.
EDIT: Never mind, it already was.
-
Somebody really like this Medalion! I gave it a 6.
-
I think it's time to finally move on to the next artifact. Since now I have enough votes. I know 5 people voted in this poll technically, but I'm not gonna count the perfect 10 vote. So excluding the perfect 10 vote, Atocha finishes with a 6.25 average. :mrorange:
Up next is "The Leopard-Skin Cloak of Annie Oakley." :mrpurple:
-
I gave this artifact a 5. It was just some oversized, ugly cloth that the producers just thought "Hey, we got this ugly cloth right here. Let's make an artifact out of it." Furthermore, it had absolutely nothing to do with Annie Oakley whatsoever. Was the cloak even mentioned at all in the legend? I don't recall. For such a legendary figure, and for such a great episode, I expected MUCH more. Can you imagine Chandra or Nick lugging that thing out of the temple? Too big and not attractive at all. Not good producers.
Also, I added a "Artifacts We Have Not Covered" list to the OP. Citing all the artifacts we have not yet covered. If you don't like the list TRJ, then you are free to remove it anytime. But it does make it easier pinpointing what we have not yet covered. One more thing, we are almost at 100 artifacts covered in the thread. I'm thinking of covering "The Jeweled Scabbard of Sforza" next as the 100th artifact. Thoughts? ;)
-
I gave Annie Oakley a 6. It was a pretty ugly artifact that looks like some blanket or bathrobe a producer brought from home. Isn't this artifact the same as the Imperial Purple Robe? It almost looks like it anyways. The artifact itself had nothing to do with the episode's legend. It is only mentioned at the very end when someone gave it to her. It is not the worst artifact on the show, but it is kind of an eyesore and is irrelevant to the legend too. And do the producers really think that is what a cloak looks like? :afro:
Also, I support Jeweled Scabbard being the next episode covered. Beautiful artifact and it almost won the "Best Artifact Ever" thread too.
-
I really don't think it looks anything like the Imperial Robe. Not at all. Wasn't the Imperial Robe smaller?
And I thought Jeweled Scabbard did win the "best artifact ever contest?" Maybe I'm not remembering correctly. :afro:
-
Well, the Good-Luck Watch beat it by a score of 4-2 in that game. But that was over a year ago and everyone's taste changes. Although I still prefer the Good-Luck Watch over it by a hair. But it was still an awesome day for artifacts.  :mrsilver: :mrred:
And the Purple Robe was indeed smaller now that I look at the image. And the Purple Robe actually looked like a Robe too while the Leopard-Skin Cloak looks more like a blanket. So I guess they are not as similar as I thought. :P
-
The Imperial Robe looked like some cape. The Leopard Skin Cloak looked like a blanket, like you said. So yeah, they definitely weren't similar.
And yeah, the last filming day had some of the best artifacts ever on the show. I personally like the Jeweled Scabbard better. The Good Luck Watch was neat too, but it was too small. Maybe I'll cover Good luck Watch after I cover the Jeweled Scabbard. Or maybe I'll cover it second to last. I don't know, whichever you prefer. But Jeweled Scabbard is definitely next.
-
I would save Good-Luck Watch for day 110. Just to spread out the awesome artifacts. But Sforza will be perfect for the next one!
-
Okay, Good Luck Watch can be saved for Day 110 then. It would be very fitting. Maybe I should arrange the rest of the artifacts in a certain order too. Much like I did with the episode review topic when we were writing the collaborations. Unless you want to be surprised with all the rest of the artifacts I/we haven't assigned days to yet. ;)
-
I gave it a 4. It's rather uninspiring.
-
And with a non unanimous 5 average, time to end the polls for "The Leopard-Skin Cloak of Annie Oakley." :mrpurple:
Up next is "The Jeweled Scabbard of Sforza."
-
I gave this artifact a perfect 10! This has got to be one of the, if not THE, best artifact on the entire show. Very fancy, very high quality, and it's just plain gorgeous to look at. The producers really nailed it with these last set of artifacts on the final filming day. The Jewel Encrusted Egg, Ruby Earring, Good Luck Watch, and this artifact. This artifact looks like it could be a scabbard on display in a museum. There is a reason this artifact almost won the "best artifact ever" contest from over a year ago. Excellent artifact!
And happy 100th artifact to this thread! Finally we made it!
-
I gave Sforza a 10 also! One of the most creative artifacts on the show. It was very beautiful and the producers put a lot of work and detail into it. And it was actually relevant to the legend too! I have to say that this is one of the best artifacts on the show. Even though it is not my most favorite artifact from that day, it is definitely a top five artifact!
-
My favorite artifact is the Jewel Encrusted Egg, but the Jeweled Scabbard is a close second for me. Both wonderfully done artifacts. :mrred:
By the way, do you want me to arrange the rest of the artifacts in a certain order? Like we did with the episode review topic? Or do you want to be surprised? I figured I'd ask you first, since this is your thread after all. ;)
-
Definitely a 10!! This is probably a top 5 artifact.
-
Yeah, this and Jewel Encrusted Egg are definitely Top 5 contenders. Maybe even the Top 2 best artifacts, period. :mrred:  And hidden in the exact same room on the exact same filming day no less.
And TRJ, in case you missed this on the previous page:
By the way, do you want me to arrange the rest of the artifacts in a certain order? Like we did with the episode review topic? Or do you want to be surprised? I figured I'd ask you first, since this is your thread after all. ;)
-
I like the order you have right now in the original post. Next up would be Pirate Captain after we are done with Sforza. ;) You should stick to that one because it is a nice mix of artifacts from different seasons. ;) :mrred:
-
Alright, I'll keep the order we have currently. Except for the ones being saved from Day 110 and Day 120 of course. ;)
And with a solid 10 average, time to end the poll for "The Jeweled Scabbard of Sforza."
Up next is "The Lion-Headed Bracelet of Chandragupta."
-
I gave this artifact a 9. Another spectacular artifact. Very high quality and beautiful, it's an artifact/article of jewelery I'd like to own! The only point I took off was the size. It was a little too small for my liking, though that can be expected with it being a bracelet and all. Other than that, I love this artifact. I can literally look at it all day. :o That's how fancy it is.
Okay, so I decided to do Lion-Headed Bracelet instead, even though we're covering it in the Green Monkey thread. I kind of wanted to cover that first. Just to get the rest of the Green Monkey artifacts out of the way. Since we still have a lot of those to cover. But don't worry, I promise I'll cover Lost Hornpipe for sure tomorrow. I'm sure you won't mind. ;)
-
I gave it a 9 as well. It's almost perfect
-
I gave Chandragupta an 8. It was a good looking artifact, but it kind of felt cheesy to look at though. I mean the Bracelet looked like it was made for Big Foot's arm and the lion head is too cheesy looking. But I do like the legend in this episode. Good artifact, but there are better ones on the show. ;)
-
But not to worry, I'll cover Lost Hornpipe tomorrow. ;) Though I don't know if that's a better artifact than the Lion-Headed Bracelet.
-
I actually think Chandragupta is better than Lost Hornpipe. Lost Hornpipe looks a little too cartoonish to me. And it looks like some cheap Elementary school music class prop. ;)
-
Not to mention, the Lost Hornpipe is WAY too small in size. The Lion-Headed Bracelet looks much better. Much more high quality. Oh well, we'll touch on the Lost Hornpipe more when I update this poll tomorrow. ;)
-
It's funny, I prefer Chandragupta's artifact over Lost Hornpipe's artifact. But I prefer Lost Hornpipe's win over Chandragupta. ;)
-
Yeah, same here.
Also, I love how these polls are finally starting to pick up on activity. Especially since it's been such a slow month. ;)
-
And with an 8.5 average, time to end the poll for "The Lion-Headed Bracelet of Chandragupta."
Up next is "The Lost Hornpipe of the Pirate Captain."
-
I gave this artifact a 5. For such a fantastic episode, the artifact unfortunately, was uninspiring. It's way too small, and it looks like a cheap music prop. Not to mention, it is very boring to look at. I mean, I guess it looks like a hornpipe. So it does look like what it's supposed to. But the artifact is way too small and cheap looking. And I'd expect more from Season 3. Considering some of the artifacts they had. Oh well, I guess you can't expect much from an artifact whose legend revolves around a pirate. But it is better than Bifocal Monocle's artifact and legend. So there's that. :afro:
-
I gave it a 6. Just a bit above average. It's not awful, but not stellar either.
-
I gave Lost Hornpipe a 4. This artifact doesn't even look like a musical instrument. It looks like a sawed off part of it or something. Not only that, it looks like those instruments you play in your elementary school music class. And a musical instrument in general is a pretty boring idea for an artifact. I did like the legend though and the SoK was great. But the artifact is disappointing, especially for one of the best episodes ever. :?
-
Then you're not gonna like tomorrow's artifact. Enormous Feather. Let's see how many people rate THAT one high.
-
Seriously, isn't Enormous Feather one of the worst episodes ever? Pirate Captain had a terrible artifact but fantastic episode. But Enormous Feather had both a lame artifact AND terrible episode. And to think, Enormous Feather came AFTER the awesomeness called Lost Hornpipe. Two back to back episodes, but two complete opposites when it comes to the quality in episodes. Ugh, I'm not looking forward to tomorrow's artifact. And I doubt you are either. A feather? Whatever, I'll save that rant for tomorrow.
-
I swear there are some episodes that are so bad that there is nothing good about them even their artifacts. Bifocal Monocle, Snow Cone, Alhambra, and Cracked Crown had crappy artifacts and episodes. Enormous Feather is no exception either. Have we rated that one yet? Because that was such a lame idea for an artifact. It is something you would expect from Season 1. Not to mention, that production day had much better artifacts, particularly from the Red Jaguar episodes. I definitely hate the artifact AND episode.
-
I'm pretty sure we haven't covered Enormous Feather yet. I could always recheck this topic, but I don't remember it ever being covered. Regardless, with a 4.75 average, time to end the poll for "The Lost Hornpipe of the Pirate Captain."
Up next is "The Enormous Feather of the Mi Linh."
-
I gave this artifact a 3. If you thought the Lost Hornpipe looked ridiculous, this artifact is even worse. First of all, the feather is ridiculously oversized. Way too cartoonish, and impossible to take seriously. Second of all, it is dull as dirt to look at. I mean, the black and gold, which completely blends in with the room? Yawn. The feather looks like one those writing utensils people used back in the 1800s. And the pot that it is sitting in, looks like one of the ink jars from back then too. So.... that's cool I guess? And it is a feather after all. So technically, it does look like what it's supposed to look like. Other than that, hate the episode and hate the artifact.
And feel free to let me know if we have indeed already covered this. Because I don't recall at all. Which isn't really a bad thing considering the artifact. :afro:
-
You're right, we didn't rate Enormous Feather yet. ;)
And I gave Enormous Feather a 3. I can see one of the producers now walking in the park and picking up a random feather thinking, "Geez, we sure need a new idea for an LotHT plot. Let's write something about this feather." Seriously, just a feather? That is something that I expect from Season 1, not towards the middle of Season 3. Although at least they had the decency to put it into some pot or whatever that is to hold it. Even though it has nothing to do with the legend. An at least it sort of lived up to its name. But I hate this artifact just like I hate this episode.
-
Okay good. So no repeats here. ;)
And I agree. I mean, I do like the screencap with the feather being held in one of the King's Storeroom pots. Like I said in my reasoning, it looks like a writing utensil you'd see in the olden days. And the pot looks like an ink jar. Which I guess is a clever way to "hide" the artifact. But the feather is WAY too big, and ridiculously cartoonish.
-
I gave it a 3. If they were going to do an enormous feather, they should have gone WAY over the top with it. It's somewhat underwhelming.
-
And with a 3.50 average, time to end the poll for "The Enormous Feather of the Mi Linh."
Up next is "The Mysterious Manuscript of Mary Shelley." :mrblue:
-
I gave this artifact a 5. It looks like what it's supposed to, being manuscripts from a book. But the artifact itself is completely uninspiring. The legend was interesting, having to do with Frankenstein and everything. But the artifact completely bores me. I don't know, I just don't care for this artifact. And I really don't have a lot to say about it either.
And I promise, this is it for the Season 3 artifacts for a few days. Considering the past four artifacts we've covered were nothing but Season 3 artifacts. Tomorrow is a Season 2 artifact, so we'll have a little more variety there. :afro:
-
I gave the Mysterious Manuscript a 7. I actually like this artifact even though it is technically just a sheet of paper. It was one of the very few times where the producers actually put some detail and thought into the artifact. First off, the producers actually referenced Mary Shelley's work on the artifact inside of making it all scribbles like the Diary of Dr. Livingstone. Second, they did a pretty good job with making it look old with the wear and tear. And the red ribbon around the artifact was a nice touch too. Also, the name was pretty cool too. On the downside though, it is just a sheet of paper. :afro: But I think the producers actually did a decent job with this artifact, they were just missing something. ;)
-
I do like how the paper/manuscript looked roughed up and worn. Since the tale of Frankenstein is a pretty old tale after all. And I also liked how the artifact actually shows the title of the book, all tied with a ribbon and all. Other than that, it was just a piece of paper, and the producers could've done a better job with the artifact. It was just missing something, like you said. ;)
-
It was also the only good horror-themed legend too. Not too ridiculous like Efoua and Mummified Hand's legend. It would've gotten a much higher score if they didn't put several pieces of paper together. But what saved it was that they put detail into the artifact. Unlike the Lost Love Letter which was just a dumb envelope. :afro:
-
Or all the "scroll" artifacts that Season 1 had. That was used multiple times throughout the season.
And I'm gonna change my vote to a 6.
-
I gave it a 7. It's nothing spectacular but it serves its purpose well.
-
And with a 6.25 average time to end the poll for "The Mysterious Manuscript of Mary Shelley." :mrblue:
Up next is "The Very Tall Turban of Ahmed Baba."
-
I gave this artifact a 6. The artifact is nice looking, even the gaudy jewel/bead doesn't ruin it. And it does sort of look like a turban, at least it looks more like a turban than the Lost Taj Mahal Turban did. But what drags it WAY down for me is that the turban.... isn't exactly "very tall." You know, like the episode title says? If anything, it looks extremely short. Where did the "very tall" come from? Was that just thrown in the episode title just to exaggerate what the artifact looks like and the story behind it? I do like the artifact, and it is very pretty looking. But I would've liked it a little more if the turban was actually as tall as the producers say it is.
And coming up tomorrow is the sister brother artifact, the Enormous Iron Nose Ring. :mrsilver: So we're covering both Jamie and Joel's artifacts back to back. Just like their episodes were produced back to back on the show. And this wasn't even rigged by me either. :afro:
-
I gave it a 7. I think it's one of the better made artifacts on the show.
-
I gave Ahmed Baba a 6. This is one of the best named artifacts on the show, but it does not even look like a "Very Tall" Turban at all. I am assuming that the producers exaggerated a little bit on the title to make it unique. Just like the Enormous Iron Nose Ring isn't that enormous. An both episode were filmed back-to-back too. ;) As for the artifact itself, the Turban is actually a good idea for an artifact because it incorporates other cultural items to the show. And I do like the glittery color of the artifact too. On the downside, the artifact looked a little too bland for me. And they really should've made it VERY TALL like the episode title states. ;) Good idea and it sounds interesting for an artifact, but I like the Taj Mahal Turban better.
-
Yeah, I always thought the producers just named it "very tall" just to exaggerate the title of the episode. And I also liked how green and glittery the artifact looked. Very pretty and shiny, something I would like to own too. I actually prefer this to the Lost Taj Mahal Turban, which just looked like a Chinese lantern that's used as a party supply. Oh well, still a nice artifact nonetheless. Just wish it was actually you know.... a "very tall" turban. ;)
And PS, the Enormous Iron Nose Ring was pretty enormous. But more on that tomorrow.
-
And with a 6.25 average, time to end the poll for "The Very Tall Turban of Ahmed Baba."
Up next is "The Enormous Iron Nose Ring of Babe the Ox." :mrsilver:

I gave this artifact a 7. I know it's just a nose ring, but I like the way it looks, and it does look visually pleasing. And it's certainly MUCH more interesting than most artifacts on the show. I also like how it looks exactly what it's supposed to be, an enormous iron nose ring. And unlike the previous artifact, at least the producers got the size and description of the artifact accurate. On the downside though, it's a little too cartoonish. And the size of the ring is a little exaggerated. While it's a nice looking artifact, it's a little hard to take it seriously. I mean, how many nose rings do you know are as enormous as this artifact is? Even if the ring is intended for animals, or oxes, in this case. Very interesting and nice looking artifact, but it's a little on the cartoonish side.
And it looks like Blackbeard is up tomorrow. I'm not sure if I want to cover this artifact just yet, but we'll see when next update comes. :afro:
-
I gave it a 7 as well. It serves the purpose perfectly. But it is just a giant nose ring. Kinda hard to screw that up, or make spectacular. It just kind of is what it is.
-
I gave the Nose Ring an 8. Unlike some of the other artifact titles they over exaggerated on (Ahmed Baba, Battle Flag), this one fits the legend perfectly. Most of us, if not all, are familiar with the Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox story. So the size of the Nose Ring actually looked like something that belonged to Babe. Plus, I really enjoyed the legend in this episode and all of the silly references to it in the temple games. Legends should've focused more on fictional characters like in this episode instead of making stuff up like in Snow Cone and Bifocal Monocle's legend. :afro: Good legend, perfect artifact, and an interesting plot through the whole episode. The only reason it didn't get a higher score was because the Nose Ring looked a little bland and fake. But still a good and fitting concept. ;)
-
"Bells on Babe's neck. Isn't that a song?"
And funny, it's the opposite thing for me. I thought the artifact looked pretty, but the cartoonish size kind of dragged it down for me. Oh well, still an interesting artifact nonetheless. And I also liked the legend along with the artifact too. ;)
-
Maybe a "Rate the Legend" thread should happen at some point?
-
Maybe. I wouldn't object to that. Who would start it though?
-
I could start it somewhere down the road. I would try to post the entire script for the legend too because most of us don't remember it by heart. The Snow Cone one will be the most interesting one to rate. Or the Cosa Rara one. :afro:
-

They'll both rank at a straight 1. We might as well rank it a 1 right now. :afro: But yeah, a script of the legend would definitely help. Even though I don't pay much attention to the legends, (they kind of bore me honestly), I'd gladly vote in the thread.

I didn't like half of the legends because they were almost always a love story or about fighting. Especially the Season 1 legends that felt like they were read right out of a history book. I did enjoy the legends that had nothing to do with love or fighting, like Annie Taylor's and Nose Ring's legend. But then you had Season 3 that had to add a twist to every story. And we also get crap like Snow Cone and Mummified Hand's legend. :afro:
-
Plus, there were those legends that just had ZERO to do with the artifacts namesake. Like with Atocha and Gwalior's legend. I mean, do we even know what an Atocha or a Gwalior is, at all?
But anyways, back to the artifact thread. Which I'll update tomorrow. Same with the new failed escape thread. ;)
-
And with a 7.25 average, time to end the poll for "The Enormous Iron Nose Ring of Babe the Ox." :mrsilver:
Up next is "John Sutter and the Map to the Lost Gold Mine." :mrblue:
-
I gave this artifact a 4. This was hands down, one of the best episodes of Season 1. Unfortunately, the artifact was less than impressive. It was just your typical Season 1 prop that didn't even look like a map. It looked like a scroll, which was easily the most overused artifact in Season 1. Also, wasn't this prop reused for the Treasure Map of Jean Lafitte? Although neither artifacts really look alike. While the artifact does sort of look like a map, it's uninspiring and extremely boring to look at. But when it comes to Season 1 map artifacts, I guess you can't expect much. Too bad, because this is my all time favorite Season 1 episode, at least after Lawrence of Arabia.
So, I decided to cover this artifact today instead of Blackbeard. And I really don't want to cover two terrible map artifacts in a row. So Blackbeard won't be covered at all for another two days. The Lion-Slashed Jacket comes tomorrow. Hope you don't mind. Though since this is two Season 1 map artifacts in a row we're talking about, I'm sure you won't. You're welcome. :afro:
-
I gave the Map to the Lost Gold Mine a 4. It was a pretty lame artifact where there was no thought put into it. I mean a folded up piece of paper? Although in early Season 1 I can be a little lenient, which is why I didn't give it a lower score like I did for Missing Weather Maps. And it does sort of look like a treasure map too. But still, it is so lame to look at. One of the best episodes on the show, but the artifact is seriously lacking. :afro:
-
And no way am I gonna cover Blackbeard tomorrow either. You know, the first ever artifact featured on the show? :afro:
-
Yeah, Blackbeard had the "first" Map artifact. Just like it is the real "first" episode. :afro:
-
Yeah, and we all get to wait two days before we rate this artifact. Yeah, you're welcome. :afro:
-
I gave it a 5. Generic map artifact. Does the job, nothing special, but I felt generous.
-
And with a 4.25 average, time to end the poll for "John Sutter and the Map to the Lost Gold Mine." :mrblue:
Up next is "The Lion-Slashed Jacket of Sacagewea."
-
I gave this artifact a 3. This artifact is just lame. It doesn't even look like a jacket that's been "slashed up." It just looks like some cheap decoration you mount on the walls. Furthermore, it's extremely boring to look at. The episode is lame, and so is the artifact. And I have very little to say about it either. But I suppose it's better than some other artifacts on the show.
Coming up tomorrow, the first episode ever recorded. And our first ever artifact. :afro:
-
I gave the Lion-Slashed Jacket a 7. I actually like this artifact and it actually looks like a jacket that would be worn by Sacagawea during that time period. Not only that, they did a pretty good job on making it look like the jacket was actually ripped up by a lion. So the artifact actually looks like the description of it in the episode title! On the downside though, it sort of looks like something they picked out at goodwill store and decided to make an artifact out. But still, it was a cool idea for an artifact even if the legend and episode was very forgettable. ;)
-
I mean, I did sort of like the legend. It was interesting, especially since the producers decided to include lions for two episodes in a row. And the slashed up jacket looked much more accurate in the legend than the artifact did itself. Other than that, this artifact was lacking to me. But, I guess if this is what passes for a slashed up jacket for the producers, then good for them. ;)
-
I gave it a 5. I like the differing opinions on this one.
-
Yeah, me too. I like how all four votes each have four different scores. Someone should come in and give this artifact a 6. Just to close the gap. :P
-
And with a 4.75 average, time to end the poll for "The Lion-Slashed Jacket of Sacagawea."
Up next is "Blackbeard's Treasure Map."
-
I'm giving this artifact a straight one. All this artifact is is just some stupid little scroll that is often used for props in the temple games. Unlike John Sutter, and hell most map artifacts, this doesn't even look like a map at all. It just looks like some piece of paper. What's with these dungeon artifacts sucking so badly? And more importantly, what's with the dungeon artifact EPISODES sucking so badly? Season 1 had a lot of crappy, uninspiring artifacts, and this is no exception. John Sutter was a lame artifact too, but it least it looked sort of like a map. But not this artifact. The only positive thing I can say about this artifact is that I like how the skeleton is holding the map. That's pretty humorous looking I guess. Other than that, it's a terrible artifact and terrible episode. Congrats producers for making "the first episode ever recorded" have an utterly lame artifact.
But not to worry you guys, tomorrow is artifact #110, being the Good Luck Watch. Which fortunately, is MUCH better than this "thing" right here. :afro:
-
I gave Blackbeard a 2. The artifact looks almost like a copper pipe or those brown parts of the toilet paper holders after you are done with it. The Map to the Lost Gold Mine looked MUCH better than this abomination and actually looked like a map. This thing doesn't even look like a piece of paper. :o Also, it was pretty lame that there was no figure in the moat during the story. I understand this episode is filled with choppy ending, but how hard was it for an intern to dress like a Pirate? Also, there are too many pirate stories in Season 1 already! Anne Bonny, Jean Lafitte, Blackbeard, etc. The reason I didn't give this a 1 was because I actually liked the legend. But other than that, this artifact fails to even look like a map. I guess there is nothing redeemable about this episode after all. :afro:
-
Looking at it a little more, it does look kind of like those brown rolls you see on toilet papers once you reach the end of it. Albeit MUCH longer than standard size. And yeah, why couldn't they get an intern to dress like a pirate? Wasn't there anyone who could resemble whoever the hell Blackbeard was? And there was never anything redeemable about this episode. What a bad pilot episode and artifact, huh? :afro:
-
And with a measly 1.25 average, time to end the poll for "Blackbeard's Treasure Map."
Up next is "The Good-Luck Watch of Empress Eugenie."
-
I gave this artifact a 9. Like all the artifacts on the last ever filming day, this was an amazing artifact. I love the design/pattern the watch has, I love the detail it has, and I just love how the watch is heart shaped too. Very fancy, high quality, and gorgeous to look at. The only reason I couldn't give this a perfect 10 is because the artifact is a little too small for me. If Jay had actually escaped successfully with the watch, he'd better hold on to that thing for dear life and not drop it. Kind of like the Golden Earring and how small that artifact was. But, I guess you can't expect much from a stop watch for an artifact. Other than that, this was an excellent artifact and the producers did a great job with all the artifacts on the last ever filming day.
Just 10 more artifacts to go at this point. We should finish this thread by mid January maybe? But yay to us for getting to artifact #110! :afro:
-
I gave the Good-Luck Watch 10! This was the best artifact on the show IMO. The amount of details put into this artifact makes it almost look like the real thing! The design was beautiful, the details were beautiful, and the fact that they used a real clock for the watch shows that the producers put a lot of work into this artifact. Plus, the name and legend for this episode was superb. This was the best artifact on the show and it looked cool in the Tomb of the Headless Kings. Too bad the producers had to wait until the last day to give us awesome artifacts.
-
And this time I'm gonna wait for Brent to make his vote for this artifact. Seriously, this artifact is near perfect.
-
Oh yeah, and we're covering this episode right now in the Green Monkey thread too. Yay repeats, again.
-
Also, Empress Eugenie needs to be covered in your Failed Escape thread AND my Purple Parrot temple games thread too. So we will be seeing a lot of it. Luckily, its a great episode and artifact.
-
And I want to cover it in the episode review topic too, Nickelodeon logos and all. So expect Good Luck Watch to be covered in that thread somewhere down the road too. ;)
