Title: Rate the Legends Room - Day 43: Jester's Court
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on June 06, 2014, 11:47:05 PM
****CREDIT GOES TO THE RED JAGUARS/STONE MARKER AND AIMYOURBRENT FOR THE IDEA****

So not long ago, a request to rehash an old poll/topic (http://phantomstemple.us.to/index.php?topic=2554.0) came to my attention, and I decided to take them up on that. Basically, we're rating the rooms on a scale of 1-10. Just like we've been rating moat crossings and color combinations. I figured we'd start a new topic on this. I could've bumped the other thread, but then it would make the original topic look too cluttery. So I figured we could start fresh. ;)

And here's the basis of voting, as said in the original topic: So every day in the original post, I will have a temple room that you can vote for with a new poll. You can place a vote on scale of 1 (bad) - 10 (good). You can vote for a room on any basis: appearance, difficulty, objective, memorableness, etc. Once the poll is done, the poll will be averaged and the average score will be posted.

So let's get this restarted, shall we? ;) We will start with the Heart Room.

I gave this room a 2. This was easily the most useless room on the show. I mean, you just hit a bunch of actuators, seriously. And some contestants STILL managed to get lost in that room. The only thing that kept me from giving it a 1? The wallpaper. I really liked the way the room looked with that wallpaper, it was actually a nice touch. But the objective was so ridiculously simplistic, it really drags it down for me.

Okay look, I don't want all the ridicule I know I'll get for this, lol, but I gave the good old useless Heart Room a 3, based entirely on nostalgia!

When the show first came on the air I loved it, and the Heart Room was memorable for me as a kid, being that bright shade of red with the arteries stemming out, it really looked cool when I was young. It wasn't as iconic to me as the Shrine, Observatory, or Throne Room, but it always stood out to me.

Obviously, if you were first exposed to Legends at a later age, or at a later season, and thanks to our ability to reflect on the show and production quality aspects, it falls sort of flat in retrospect. And I understand that.

I know most of the forum will give this room a 1 and I get that and I have no argument against that. But I also had to be true to myself. Honestly, I was going to go as high as a 4 just for nostalgia factor, but I didn't want to anger the forum by boosting the average up that high. I know most of you probably expect and maybe even hope this room finishes last in the rankings, and that's fine. But I couldn't give it a 1 or 2.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 1: Heart Room
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on June 06, 2014, 11:59:14 PM
Well, I gave it a 2 solely for the wallpaper. Since like I said above, looked really nice. But what kills it for that room is the utterly boring and tired "hit the actuator" objective. Hell they even kept the wallpaper for Season 2 for Medusa's Lair and the Room of the Mandarin Hand. Which may or may not say a lot. I definitely wouldn't mind this room (or the Treasure Room) finishing in last place though.

I gave this room a lowly 1. It was such a lame room, and it is sad that the producers left it in the temple for most of Season 1 before realizing that it was too easy. Not that the Room of Fallen Columns did it any justice. I do agree that the wallpaper was cool though. It actually looked like an actual human heart in a way. But the fact it was empty space makes me frown on this room. So lame and uninspiring, which is why it gets the lowest score possible.

Well, it certainly wouldn't make a difference. Since it's just gonna rank deservedly low anyways.

Sorry for driving the average up slightly. Again, it's purely a nostalgia factor for me, plus the room did look pretty cool.

Good to see this poll has gotten quite a bit of votes so far. Good thing I rehashed this topic, and gave both TRJ and Brent credit for it.

You're welcome. ;)

I am not surprised to see the Heart Room get some votes higher than a 1. A lot of people gave it a 2 in the other topic. At least this room wasn't pretending to be something special... like the Treasure Room. I HATE the Treasure Room.   :x

TRJ, if you ever get 3 strikes in one of our temple games, you get locked in the Treasure Room for an eternity.

You know I just realized, the final tally for the Jester's Court was never added in back in the original topic. The poll results are still up, so it's not like the tallys are gone forever. Boy, the random things you notice.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 1: Heart Room

And now it's time to end the Heart Room's poll with a mere 1.74 average. That's right around the same average it got in the original thread.

Up next is The Crypt. ;)

Day 2 - The Crypt
Objective: Pull the books from the skeleton.
Season(s): 2, 3
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 2: Crypt
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on June 07, 2014, 11:40:20 PM
I gave this room an 8. It's MUCH better than the Heart Room, and it's my personal favorite entrance room. I liked how the room was an actual objective, and NOT just a measly "hit the actuator" room. Plus, you gotta love the "LET GO!" and "GET OUT OF HERE!" that the skeletons say. This is a room I would've loved to see come back had Legends been revived for a fourth season. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 2: Crypt
Post by: AimYourBrent on June 07, 2014, 11:41:44 PM
I gave The Crypt a 7. It's definitely a classic! We got to see it in 80 episodes, which is more than most rooms. It's not my favorite room by any means but it's a great entrance room. One thing I love is the door; it just looks menacing for some reason, probably the use of color and line. I like it! Just didn't wanna rank it TOO high.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 2: Crypt
Post by: JCW555 on June 08, 2014, 12:15:30 AM
Gave The Crypt a 7 as well. It was definitely a classic room with all of the LET GO and GET OUT OF HERE quotes :D.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 2: Crypt
Post by: The Red Jaguars on June 08, 2014, 12:26:05 AM
I am going to give the Crypt a 9, only to help boost its overall score. This was a very memorable entrance room and I loved it despite how easy the objective was. The scenery was perfect from the spider webs to the fog. And I love the one-liners of the skeletons too.

"LET GO!"
"GET OUT OF HERE!"

I agree with the Paintbrush too about bringing it back for a fourth season. This room was very memorable and a classic. It would be a mistake to remove it.  ;)  :mrred:

Yeah, no entrance room could replace the Crypt. It was a classic room, for all the right reasons. ;)

And good to see it's ranking high too so far. :mrpurple:
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 2: Crypt
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on June 08, 2014, 11:37:56 PM
And with a 7.29 average, time to end the poll for the Crypt. :mrteal:

Up next is Quicksand Bog/Pharaoh's Secret Passage. ;)

Day 3 - Quicksand Bog/Pharaoh's Secret Passage
Objective: Hit a button to enter the Shrine, bust through the wall to enter the Dark Forest, or climb the slide.
Season(s): 3
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 3: Quicksand Bog/Pharaoh's Secret Passage
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on June 08, 2014, 11:42:26 PM
I gave this room a 7. It was an alright room, I definitely liked it better than the Mine Shaft/Well/elevator variations of this room space. The Pharaoh's Secret Passage was a nice touch too. Plus, I loved how the temple guards would just pop up from the bricks and scare the contestants. It's not my favorite room by any means, but it's best room out of that room space to me. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 3: Quicksand Bog/Pharaoh's Secret Passage
Post by: AimYourBrent on June 08, 2014, 11:43:22 PM
I went with a 6 for the Bog and PSP.

This room space was never the greatest. The elevator rooms that occupied it had a lot of potential but were also just so painfully time consuming.

There wasn't much to this room. Being able to smash through the wall and the existence of the Shrine-Bog shortcut are nice touches.

I never felt like any of the rooms in this space truly maximized their potential. But they were all reasonable efforts.

Post by: The Red Jaguars on June 08, 2014, 11:50:02 PM
I gave the "Murky Quagmire" a 6 also. I was not too crazy about this room because it was too dark and the slide was kind of lame. However, it was a huge improvement over the other three rooms in that room space. And I am glad they did not bring the elevators back either. And the temple guard encounters were pretty cool in this room too. I really wished they just turned this room into an actual objective instead of empty space that eats up time. But I will take it any day over the Mine Shaft or Dungeon.

I'll give the Quicksand Bog and Pharaoh's Secret Passage a 7. It was way better than all the rooms that proceeded it, but the space could've been used more wisley

Oh yeah, of course. And look at the poll results too. A wide variety of people have ranked this room between 4-8. I know I ranked the room a little too high, but I really didn't mind the Quicksand Bog at all.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 3: Quicksand Bog/Pharaoh's Secret Passage

Up next is the Spider's Lair. ;)

Day 4 - Spider's Lair
Objective: Wade through the webs and proceed to the next room.
Season(s): 1
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 4: Spider's Lair
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on June 09, 2014, 11:30:43 PM
I gave this room a 3. Meh, the room looked cool I guess, but the webbing was really pointless, and did more harm than good. Evident in the inability some contestants had in climbing those webbings. Billy from Lost Hammer is a perfect example of that. It was just a Swamp with spider webbings on it. Nothing special about that room at all.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 4: Spider's Lair
Post by: AimYourBrent on June 09, 2014, 11:31:00 PM
I gave the Spider's Lair a 5. Maybe a little generous of a rating, but I really liked this room in concept. In execution it left a bit to be desired, but it was cool looking.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 4: Spider's Lair
Post by: The Red Jaguars on June 09, 2014, 11:55:15 PM
I gave this room a 1. It is so lame and the colors for the room looks so ugly. When I first heard the room name, I thought it would be some creepy room that had to do with spiders. Instead, it was just a ripoff of the Swamp except with thin string all over the room. Oh yeah, the string was so weak anyways so it didn't help or impede the contestants. Overall, this was a lame room with a dumb design, boring objective, and it only lasted for 9 episodes.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 4: Spider's Lair
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on June 09, 2014, 11:57:18 PM
I really didn't think the Green coloring in the room (well, any Swamp room) looked THAT bad. I would've liked this room a lot more if it had been executed better. Plus, this room had the infamous Cricket Cage hidden in that room.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 4: Spider's Lair
Post by: AimYourBrent on June 10, 2014, 12:10:17 AM
I liked the background of the Swamp rooms. I think if the webbing would have been made of a different material that allowed the contestants to climb it easier, this room would have been awesome.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 4: Spider's Lair

And I am surprised that no one mentioned that the infamous Golden Cricket Cage was located in this room. I forgot to mention that in my ranking. I know it is silly to penalize the room for a temple run, but I always think about this run when I think about this room. That was my other reason I gave it a 1.

Day 5 - Room of the Ancient Warriors
Objective: Place yourself in the correct armor.
Season(s): 3
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 5: Room of the Ancient Warriors
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on June 10, 2014, 11:43:12 PM
I gave this room a 7. It was a neat room, and the objective was challenging enough. I especially liked the temple guard grabbings of the contestants the most. Especially in episodes like Lost Hornpipe and Melted Head. However, this room was a little too dark and cramped for me. And some contestants would try to fit themselves in armors, even if the door was already opened. All in all, not a bad room. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 5: Room of the Ancient Warriors
Post by: The Red Jaguars on June 10, 2014, 11:44:50 PM
I gave this room an 8. It was a very memorable room that had an objective that was pretty reasonable. I liked how the different headdresses resembled different types of clothing. And the temple guard encounters were very memorable too. The downside to this room was that it was too cramped. And I wish they kept the Jester's Court ladders leading to below. And I hated when the contestants kept placing themselves in an armor even though the door was already open *cough Jonathan cough*.

Overall, I loved this room and would like to see it return in a fourth season. As long as they brought the ladders back. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 5: Room of the Ancient Warriors
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on June 10, 2014, 11:49:13 PM
I was just thinking about how this room should've both, returned for Season 4, AND should've brought the ladders back. I think the lack of ladders and lack of Jester's Court access is what made this room look so cramped. And I never thought about the armors looking like articles of clothing before. But yeah, this was a memorable room. One of the better rooms the show had. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 5: Room of the Ancient Warriors
Post by: AimYourBrent on June 11, 2014, 12:43:52 AM
I gave this room a 7.

It has a pretty unique objective, as well as temple guard capture.

I dislike the fact that the room is not accessible from below. Taking out that passage really limited what could be done with temple layouts.

Overall I like the room. Not as much as the King's Storeroom, but it's still very solid.

And I am glad to see these rooms get a lot of votes too. Most of the rooms we rated in the original topic did get a lot of votes early on. But if you remember, I stopped updating the original topic for a couple of months before updating it again. So a lot of the later rooms got less votes than usual. I hope this keeps up too. ;)

And no surprise to see the Ancient Warriors getting a lot of love.  :mrblue: It will definitely be one of the highest rated rooms along with the Shrine, Dark Forest, King's Storeroom (S2), and Jester's Court. ;)

I gave this room a 3. I never liked this room, no matter what season it was and what variation was used. I mean, it was just a plastic seat. I did like the rotating Throne Room Season 2 had, but it was just an uninspiring room altogether. Give me the Laser Light Room anyday.

I gave the Throne Room a 3. Basically, I gave the S1 version a 2 and the S2 version a 4.

It was definitely one of the lamest rooms on the show. The Season 1 version simply had an uninspiring objective. I mean all the contestants had to do was put some part of their body on the chair. The only reason I didn't give it a 1 was because it was better than pushing actuators. The Season 2 version was lame too, but I have to give the producers credit for switching up the room a little bit. Unlike the Heart Room and Swamp, at least the room spinning was interesting. Although it seemed to have some production issues too. Mainly runs like Golden Stallion and Blackfeet Chief. It was a lame room though and definitely one of my least favorite rooms.

My ratings of the room by individual ranking would probably be the same as yours. I never really thought of ranking them that way. But with my ranking of a 3, it would be fitting. Plus, not many artifacts were hidden in the Throne Room either. I mean, there was Golden Ship, Electrified Key, and that's it. The rest of them were in the different rooms that space had. Of course, none of the bottom central shaft runs were wins anyways.

I always really, really liked the Throne Room. I think partially for nostalgic reasons. I thought it was a neat room in concept. It made sense that there would be a room like a throne room in an ancient temple. And plus Season 1 sort of gets a bit of a pass, as they were still learning.

I will admit that when I was little that me and my sister pretended that our recliner was the Throne Room. As for the room itself, it is a bottom 5 room in my eyes. I really wish they would've done more with the objective. My idea for this room would be to have several different thrones in the room and have the player sit on the right one to open a door. It is better then sitting on one chair at least. I did like it when the contestants in S1 sat on it despite the doors being already open.

That is a really good idea actually. Those S1 kids would have butchered it though lol.

My cousins and I used to always have some sort of "throne room" when we would play Legends in our grandparents' basement. It always seemed to have a temple guard so my one cousin was always kinda scared of it, lol.

Day 7 - Pit of the Pendulum
Objective: Swing on the rope and knock over the column.
Season(s): 3
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 7: Pit of the Pendulum
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on June 12, 2014, 11:42:52 PM
I gave this room a 7. It wasn't my favorite room, but I definitely preferred this Pit Room over say.... the Wall Climb. I liked the objective this room had, where a player actually had to complete the room without pressing any buttons. The downside to this room is, sometimes the players took too long getting out of that room *coughVeronicacough* and it really held up a lot of players. Especially those that couldn't get back on the podium/top ledge in the room. Overall, it was a good room, and one of the better Pit rooms. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 7: Pit of the Pendulum

I gave this room a 6.

I like the objective, but it was entirely too time consuming when players had to go anywhere other than the Tomb afterwards.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 7: Pit of the Pendulum

I gave the Pit of the Pendulum an 8. I loved the concept of this room, and even though some people did struggle with it, it was way better than all the Pits before it (maybe other than the Rock Quarry). I also liked it better than the Wheel Room Pit. BTW? What WAS the Wheel Room/Pit of Despair called? Olmec referred to it as the Pit of Despair, but Kirk Fogg referred to it as the Wheel Room. We may never know.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 7: Pit of the Pendulum

I pretty much go with whatever they have Olmec announce it as because that's going to be the official name.

Also, I am going to be very interested to see how the final results of this compare with the results of the temple room hurt/heal game.

Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 7: Pit of the Pendulum
Post by: The Red Jaguars on June 13, 2014, 01:34:30 AM
I gave the Pit of the Pendulum a 7. It was one of the best forms of the Pit on the show. I liked how the players had to knock down the column to move on, and there were different ways to do this like using the rope or pushing it with their hands. Plus, it was kind of nice to see the players actually see what paths were open to them without having to pushing actuators to find the next open door. However, I still liked it better when the players could just go up to the door they want and press the actuator to choose their route like in the old Pits. Also, I felt like there was too much going on in this Pit too. It felt like a lot of players wasted time in here because of the foamy blocks or how hard it was to climb the wall. I am not just talking about Bifocal Monocle or Marble Armrest, but quite a few contestants wasted time here. Overall though, this Pit was very unique. I do like the Rope Swing one better used in S2L4-L5 though.  ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 7: Pit of the Pendulum
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on June 13, 2014, 01:47:44 AM
Yeah, I also liked the S2L4/L5 Pit the best. Just the rope, rock slabs, and green Pit balls looked great. But yeah, the Pit of the Pendulum was a good Pit room too. And like you said, I liked how the contestants had to actually complete the objective to move on. It wasn't just a "hit the actuator" room like you'd usually see. ;)

I gave this room a 4. I think giving the Pit Room Space an objective wasn't a good thing to do, especially in Season 3. I liked it better when contestants could choose which door they wanted to try to open. Also, if a contestant fell off the pendulum but had to climb up to an upper door, the wall was difficult to climb because of the ledge.

I agree. I don't know how much that was affected by the lack of dead ends in S3 layouts. But yeah, this Pit could be very time consuming and frustrating.

Season(s): 2
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 8: Lightning Ball Room
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on June 13, 2014, 11:48:43 PM
I gave this room a 5. I'm indifferent to this room, but I really didn't like it. It was just "there" and never really stood out to me. Plus, the objective was only done twice. I just feel like a room like this was so out of place for a temple. The Room of the Secret Password was better.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 8: Lightning Ball Room
Post by: The Red Jaguars on June 13, 2014, 11:51:57 PM
I also have mixed feelings about the Lightning Room. On one hand, the objective was unique and thought it was an interesting concept. On the other hand though, it was definitely out of place in an Ancient Temple like the Paintbrush mentioned. But then again, rooms like the Mine Shaft and Laser Light Room were a little out of place too. The objective was also pretty short-lived and only lasted one layout and it was only required when players made the bad decision to ride the slow ass elevator. My idea to make this room better was to have the contestants complete the objective before they could ride the elevator. You know, to "power it up" or something like that. I give this room a 6.

Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 8: Lightning Ball Room

The Mine Shaft fit just fine in the temple to me, but I sort of agree about the Laser Light Room. And even the latter room was executed better. At least you HAD to complete the objective to move forward. The Lightning Room didn't do that.

I gave this room a 1. What an ugly looking room! It was just some dark, dreary looking room with oversized blue mats, and nothing but ladders. Seriously, you just climb ladders, or bust through a wall. Not hard at all. Give me the elevator rooms any day.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 9: Dungeon
Post by: The Red Jaguars on June 14, 2014, 11:50:48 PM
I gave the Dungeon a 1. This was one of the worst ideas on the show. It was literally just an empty room with two ladders and two skeletons thrown in it in order to give this room a "theme". This room was so bad that it made the Well look like one of the best ideas ever. Also, Kirk's comments about the skeletons being "former contestants" in every single run was so old and lame too. Overall, this room was lame, uninspiring, and a waste of space. I HATE THE DUNGEON.  :x

Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 9: Dungeon
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on June 15, 2014, 01:09:52 AM
My question is: How can you screw up designing a room? And like Stone Marker mentioned above, Kirk's commentary of this room was so embarrassing. "Oh, there's a contestant there who didn't make it out!" Yeah, real clever Kirk. And then we had contestants (like Kristen and Jackie), who couldn't even bust through a wall. I swear, this room sucked in so many ways.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 9: Dungeon

In the room's defense, it's not the Dungeon's fault if a player couldn't bust through the wall.

But still, it didn't make it any easier to watch. And by the looks of the poll, I have a feeling this room is gonna rank just as bad as the Heart Room.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 9: Dungeon

Another thing I hated about the Dungeon was the ugly big tarp they had on the floor. Almost every contestant tripped on it when they entered the room. Also, the Dungeon guard in "Kamehameha" had trouble opening his door in order to capture Tina. And I also mentioned the color of this room was so ugly too. No wonder Kristen had trouble finding the breakable wall because it almost blended in with the Dungeon.

My favorite part is how the producers put two skeletons in the room and called it the Dungeon.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the delayed temple guard in Kamehameha. Why hide a temple guard in there? Couldn't they have just hid it in the Tomb of the Ancient Kings? Yeah, what a dark and ugly room. How this room got approved at all is beyond me.

Season(s): 2, 3
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 10: Dark Forest
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on June 15, 2014, 11:56:30 PM
I gave this room an 8. This was easily one of the most iconic rooms on the show. I liked the challenge of reaching for the key, and an option to just bust through the wall. I liked the scary/dark theme it had going for it too. I also liked how the trees would say "GOT YOU!" if you were captured by a temple spirit. On the flip side, the room was a little cramped, and the room was a little too dark. And there were some contestants (like Ashlie from Dolley Madison and Tess from Sojourner Truth) who struggled in that room. Other than that, it was a great room and I would've loved to see it return, had the show been picked up for Season 4. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 10: Dark Forest

I gave the Dark Forest a 9. It was one of the best rooms on the show, and very memorable too. I love the unique temple guard captures in this room too. And I like how the contestants could have the option of actually avoiding them too. After the Shrine, I have to say this is the most iconic room on the show. If they ever had a Season 4, I hope they wouldn't remove this room.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 10: Dark Forest

I'd have to say this is my third favorite room, behind the Jester's Court (second favorite) and the Shrine (my absolute favorite). To me, it would be a mistake to not bring this room back for Season 4. ;) It would be a hard room to replace.

Season(s): 1
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 11: Wheel Room/Troubled Bridge
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on June 16, 2014, 11:37:09 PM
I gave this room a 5. I don't have any real special feelings for this room. I mean, it was better than the Wall Climb, but it wasn't the greatest looking room to look at. Plus, some contestants (Shane, Danny, Eddie) would often take the wrong entrance, and have to backtrack all the way to the otherside of the room. Which certainly ate up a lot of time. I don't know, I never really cared for this room.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 11: Wheel Room/Troubled Bridge
Post by: The Red Jaguars on June 16, 2014, 11:37:31 PM
I gave the Wheel Room a 4. It was an interesting concept for the Pit, but it had too many problems. First off, this Pit was just way too cramped. I mean one of the crawl spaces in the Cave of Sighs was blocked off because of the big wheel. Secondly, this Pit was used way too much in Season 1. It should not have lasted for 5 layouts. But still, I liked how it reused a DD prop and sort of gave the Pit of Despair an objective. However, I am not a fan of these types of rooms where they limit the players choices. The Rock Quarry did it better.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 11: Wheel Room/Troubled Bridge
Post by: AimYourBrent on June 16, 2014, 11:39:45 PM
I was a little generous and gave the Wheel Room a 6.

I love the objective. I don't like the way it limits the players' choices in the Pit. That's one of the best part of the Pit, being able to "choose your next path", and I don't like that being taken away.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 11: Wheel Room/Troubled Bridge

Gave the Wheel Room/Pit of Despair a 5. Was an average room, which kinda limited the choices the temple runner could make, but it gave the Pit of Despair an objective, so there's that.

Plus, the Wheel Room was used too much IMO. The Rock Quarry was perfect because it was only used for 1 layout or 12 episodes. The Wheel Room was used in 26 episodes including the Belshazzar run. Plus, the room was so cramped that they couldn't use one of the Cave of Sighs doors.

Up next is Medusa's Lair. ;)

Day 12 - Medusa's Lair
Objective: Jam four (later two) snakes into Medusa's head.
Season(s): 2
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 12: Medusa's Lair
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on June 17, 2014, 11:52:53 PM
I gave this room a 5. This room was always broken, and it would often take forever for a door to open, and for Medusa's eyes to light up. I also dislike this room because this objective was a tad demanding for me. I mean, thanks to Tony from Stone Head during a dunce with Medusa's head, they had to water down the objective from four snakes to two. The latter amount of snakes should've been done from the beginning, because four snakes is asking way too much. Though Tony shouldn't have been spending a minute completing the objective. I just never liked this room. I'm glad they got rid of it by S2L5 and replaced it with the Room of the Mandarin Hand.

I gave Medusa's Lair a 6.

It was a great concept, but it was often fickle and teams would struggle with completing the objective, and not in a good way.

This was definitely an upgrade over the previous two occupants of this space however, and it gets a small boost from me because Lucky Pillow.

I am torn between Medusa's Lair. It was a good concept, but the room was too buggy and time consuming. In fact, the room was so time consuming that the producers had to dumb down on the room objective! 4 snakes was a bitch, and you can't entirely blame Tony from Stone Head for spending a lot of time in there (although a full minute was excessive). And even with 2 snakes, the room was still buggy and had production errors. Runs like Missing Eye and Silk Sash come to mind. I do like the objective though and it was a huge step up from the lame Heart Room and Fallen Columns. And the objective was a pretty good and unique too. I gave Medusa's Lair a 6 overall too.

Although I like the Chamber and Mandarin Hand better. ;)

Yeah, I don't blame Tony entirely for his chokejob in that room. Because like you said, four snakes is a bitch, and two snakes was much easier. But I also prefer the Room of the Mandarin Hand and Chamber over this room. ;)

It just sucks that the room objective seemed to never work properly. Players would clearly have the snakes jammed into the head and nothing would happen. Then they would have to go fiddle with the snakes until the lights went off and the doors opened.

That happened in the "Missing Eye" run. Michael completed the Medusa's Lair objective completely, but no doors opened. So he lost some time because apparently they were not aligned properly and he had to jam them down some more. The four snake Medusa's Lair was the worst. Although some of those teams on Captain John Smith and Stone Head's day are lucky they didn't enter Medusa's Lair...

I gave this room an 8. I really liked this room, MUCH better than Medusa's Lair. I know the objective was simple, but I just like how the room looked. With the Heart Room wallpaper and the giant hand and globe. It looked really statue esque. This and the Chamber would probably be my favorite room in the center of the room space. ;)

I gave the Room of the Mandarin Hand an 8. I definitely like this room better than Medusa's Lair. The objective was definitely simpler, but it was also unique and memorable. I also loved the design of the giant hand and globe. The room name was also pretty cool also. I wish they brought this room up a little sooner. It should've been assembled earlier on, like on Silk Sash's day.

Looking back at my vote, I think I might change my vote to a 6 or 7. I actually think my score on this room was way too generous. I mean, this objective was way too easy and really didn't have any kind of challenge at all. I thought I could be excited for this room, but I'm not. =/
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 13: Room of the Mandarin Hand

Well, to me there is more to a room than just the objective. I enjoyed the design of the room and how the hand looked. I also thought the name was creative too. If we are talking about the objective only, I would give this a 6/10. But I like it a lot more than just the objective alone. ;) Same with the Bamboo Forest. I am going to rate that room high even though it didn't really have an objective. I would've loved to see more appearances for both rooms too.  ;)  :mrorange:

Yeah, the room looked nice. The Heart Room wallpaper and giant hand and ball looked really neat. It's definitely the best looking room, but the objective was a tad easy. Same with the Bamboo Forest. The room looked neat and it was way underused. But it was technically still "hit the actuator" at the end of the day. But traversing that room was pretty challenging, so there's that. Better than a bunch of webs taking over the room. I can't wait until we get to the Bamboo Forest. But, we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. ;)

Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 14: Cave of Sighs
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on June 19, 2014, 11:36:26 PM
I gave this room a 6. It was an alright room, and it looked neat. But that's about it. This was definitely a popular temple entrance choice in Season 1. Where it seemed like every other contestant was greeted by a temple guard the moment they entered the temple. I really don't have a lot to say about this room, I mean it was just yet another "hit the actuator" room after all. But the room looked cool I guess.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 14: Cave of Sighs

I have the Cave of Sighs an 8. I know it's a little high, but it's a pretty iconic room, and the climbing aspect of this and the Ledges was unique and made for some spectacular finishes, especially when it became the Ledges.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 14: Cave of Sighs
Post by: The Red Jaguars on June 20, 2014, 12:51:20 AM
I gave the Cave of Sighs a 6 also.  I thought the color of the room was ugly and it looked so fake. And the temple guard encounters were pretty lame in this room too. I did sort of like how the contestants could choose to enter this room from the temple gates though. And the name was pretty creative too. Overall though, the Cave of Sighs served its purpose as an entrance room. By the time Season 2 came around, it was definitely time for it to go. Everything the Cave of Sighs did, the Ledges did better.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 14: Cave of Sighs
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on June 20, 2014, 01:01:37 AM
Ugly? I liked the gray color that it had. It was much better than the brown Ledges that Seasons 2 and 3 had. But I guess looks aren't everything.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 14: Cave of Sighs
Post by: The Red Jaguars on June 20, 2014, 01:15:21 AM
The color scheme really is not that bad for this room. I don't know why though, but this room looks so fake though. It looks like the Cave was made out of plastic or something. Maybe it was because it wasn't as narrow and dark as the Ledges. I like this entrance room though and it served as a good predecessor to the Ledges. ;)

And tomorrow is the Treasure Room. I can't wait to rate it. Let's just say that I don't have kind words for this room. ;)  :mrred:

Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 15: Treasure Room
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on June 20, 2014, 11:53:57 PM
I gave this room a 1. This was easily the worst room in the history of the show. It's just an oversized treasure chest, that's it. And that thing was just extremely broken. It was used for a grand total of FIVE LAYOUTS, and it only worked/opened once. I guess it was an alright idea, but it was terribly executed. I just don't understand how a room THAT useless can last so long in one season. What's the point if the chest is never gonna open up? It was by far the most useless room in the history of the show. How this was green lit is beyond me. So if anyone wants to brag about Mitchell opening up the chest and being (gasp!) a strategist, be my guest. Otherwise, rage away. O_O

I HATE THE TREASURE ROOM!  :x

Sorry, this was the worst temple room featured on the show. All it was just a giant box in the middle of the room. Like the Paintbrush mentioned, it only worked one time. What is the point of the Treasure Chest then if it is never going to work? I mean it would work perfectly in runs like Hannibal and Zenobia. And don't get me started on the objective. It was just a Heart Room disguised as a treasure chest. Mitchell got extremely lucky with this room for sure. Lame objective, stupid name, lasted too long, only worked once, and an empty waste of space. That describes the Treasure Room perfectly. It will get a 1, no questions asked.

But yeah, I might've rated it higher if it was actually worked more than one time. It is also frustrating to watch runs like Belshazzar, Zenobia, and Silver Saddle Horn where the chest should've actually worked in those runs. I have to say this is the WORST room on the show. I mean at least the Heart Room had the cool wallpaper and wasn't pretending to be anything special. The Treasure Room only served its purpose once. -_-

Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 16: Room of the Secret Password
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on June 21, 2014, 11:58:59 PM
I gave this room a 7. It's by far my favorite room in that room space, and I liked the aspect of literally shouting a password for a door to open up. I would've rated it higher if the room had been entered into more and if the objective was completed more. I mean, it was literally only completed once in Season 2. Fortunately, we saw this room get completed a lot more in Season 3. Plus, it would've helped if a player was required to complete the room before moving on to the Mine Shaft. Which seemed to be a more recurring theme going with that room space, no matter what room it was. Thankfully that aspect was added in by Season 3. But I did like the objective, and the three passwords that needed to be shouted out too. ;)

Oh, and here are the passwords for reference:
"Long Live Olmec!"
"Open Sesame!"
"Klata Barada Nikkitu!"
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 16: Room of the Secret Password
Post by: The Red Jaguars on June 22, 2014, 02:17:12 AM
I gave the Room of the Secret Password an 8. This was a memorable and very creative room. I like how the contestants were actually forced to do talking in order to complete a room objective. It was definitely an original idea. And it was always funny when they couldn't pronounce the room names either. And I like how they made this room mandatory to complete in Season 3 instead of bypassing it to ride an elevator below. The downside to this room was that it was hardly entered at all. Even in Season 3, it still wasn't completed much at all. But that's not really the rooms fault either. It was located in a room space where a player should avoid most of the time unless they were forced to enter. It was one of the better and more creative rooms on the show at the end of the day.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 16: Room of the Secret Password
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on June 22, 2014, 02:32:22 AM
I would've liked this room A LOT more if it were completed more often, and it you were required to complete it coming from the Shrine. I did however like some of the players' mispronunciation of the password names. Like the "Msincbfvbcdcbfry!" bit we heard from Kelli in Thornwood Gavel. And the "Klatu Barada Nikki!" bit we heard from Matthew in Belle Boyd. And Kirk's complete and utter butchering of the room name in the Annie Oakley temple run. I guess he never expected a contestant to ever complete that room.

I gave this room a 5. It was better than the Room of the Three Gargoyles, but it was basically the same objective. Hit the actuator, and move on. It worked the exact same way. Not the greatest room, and nothing really stood out. It was just "there." I didn't hate the room, but I didn't like it either.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 17: Room of the Royal Gongs
Post by: The Red Jaguars on June 22, 2014, 11:40:32 PM
I gave the Room of the Royal Gongs a 3. In my opinion, this room was just a blatant rip-off of the Three Gargoyles. I actually liked the Gargoyles and can't see the reasoning why they would change them. I guess they only wanted to switch up the temple a little bit? The Royal Gongs appeared in only 2 layouts and were just the same thing as the Gargoyles minus the tongues. The Gargoyles were more cooler and memorable than this room. It is not the worst room, but this is one of those rooms that should've never happened.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 17: Room of the Royal Gongs
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on June 22, 2014, 11:43:04 PM
I personally thought the Gargoyles Room was boring. I guess they just worked better as temple scenery than they did a room objective. Same with the Golden Idols, another pointless room.

And truth be told, I don't like any of the next rooms coming up. Were there any good rooms at all after Season 1?
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 17: Room of the Royal Gongs
Post by: The Red Jaguars on June 22, 2014, 11:46:41 PM
These are the only rooms I like from Season 1:

- Shrine (Obvious choice because it was the best room on the show!)
- Tomb of the Ancient Kings (It was a neat room that had a lot of memorable guards and had an actual objective. Not as good as the Dark Forest, but it still served its purpose)
- Bamboo Forest (this room definitely deserved more air time. I love this room)
- Treasury of the Golden Orbs (Should've replaced the stupid Treasure Room sooner)

I could care less about the rest of the rooms in Season 1. Some of them felt like they were carbon copies of old rooms. Like the Mine Shaft and Well, Swamp and Spider's Lair, Three Gargoyles and Royal Gongs, Sundial and Celestial Lights, etc.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 17: Room of the Royal Gongs

I can't believe I forgot about the Bamboo Forest. That was a great room, and THAT only manages to last only one layout. I definitely prefer it over the Spider's Lair and the Swamp. And basically all the rooms you said above, especially the Tomb of the Ancient Kings, were the only Season 1 rooms I liked. I always liked the blue/pink/gold that room had going for it. I know it was too bright, but I definitely preferred it over the Royal Gong room.

Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 18: Observatory - Sundial

I gave this room a 5. It was a neat looking room, and a sundial is cool I guess. But the only objective the room had was well.... spin a sundial. That's it. There was no challenge, just spin the thing and move on. The other Observatory variations were better.

I have it a 6. It was Season 1. Really good concept. And I would have ranked it higher but sometimes the doors didn't open quickly enough.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 18: Observatory - Sundial
Post by: The Red Jaguars on June 23, 2014, 11:32:16 PM
I gave the Sundial a 3. It was a lame and uninspiring room. I hardly even consider it an objective because all the players had to do was twirl some silly dial. I guess it is better than pushing actuators, but the room was still way too easy and lame. This room is a big letdown because the producers could've turned it into an actual puzzle. Instead, all they had to do was a half-assed spin that would open the doors. It was better than some of the Season 1 rooms, but it was still lame.

Yeah, the producers could've turned it into a puzzle instead of some sundial. Or better yet: Utilize the celestial lights sooner.

And with a 4.2 average, time to end the poll for The Observatory - Sundial.

Up next is The Room of the Fallen Columns. ;)

Day 19 - Room of the Fallen Columns
Objective: Make your way through the columns, and proceed to the next room.
Season(s): 1
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 19: Room of the Fallen Columns
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on June 24, 2014, 11:38:39 PM
I gave this room a 5. While it was better than just some empty "hit the actuator room," it looked too cluttered and hard to navigate. It was basically a "hit the actuator room" with a bunch of obnoxious columns in the way. Plus, this room didn't last long anyways.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 19: Room of the Fallen Columns
Post by: The Red Jaguars on June 24, 2014, 11:41:40 PM
I gave the Fallen Columns a 4. I like the effort to try and upgrade the Heart Room, but it was too little too late by the time they brought this room around. I mean the room only lasted for four episodes. Plus, the columns definitely made the room too cluttered too. Even the temple guards had a hard time getting around in this room. And I think the name of the room was pretty name. But still, I appreciate the effort of the producers of trying to make the Heart Room a little harder. But this room was just forgettable and lame.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 19: Room of the Fallen Columns

Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 19: Room of the Fallen Columns
Post by: The Red Jaguars on June 24, 2014, 11:50:49 PM
*Pretty lame, not pretty name. The name of this room was kind of dumb. :P

I would've liked this room a little better if they brought it in say...S1L6 or something like that. But instead, it was just one of the many short-lived Season 1 rooms. I know the Bamboo Forest was short-lived too, but the room design was clever and the name was perfect. The Fallen Columns was just some foam columns thrown inside a room.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 19: Room of the Fallen Columns
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on June 24, 2014, 11:53:15 PM
Yeah, if they had introduced it sooner, or even used less columns, then maybe I'd like the room better. The Bamboo Forest was executed better, for all the same reasons you stated.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 19: Room of the Fallen Columns

This room was cluttered and kind of difficult but not necessarily in a good way.

I've been thinking of reordering which rooms we should cover next. Like, go from "best to worst," ranking all the best remaining rooms at the end. What do you guys think? And which rooms do you think I should save for the end of this thread? ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 19: Room of the Fallen Columns

I like a mixture of the good and bad rooms as well. Maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea though to mix up the featured room though? If I restarted this series, I would've shuffled some of the rooms around. Although at the end of the day, every single room will be rated anyways. ;)  :mrred:

Both of you do make good points. And I think I'll just keep everything the same. I wouldn't have wanted to obsessively compulsively change around the list in the OP anyways. And with a 4.4 average, time to end the poll for The Room of the Fallen Columns.

Up next is The Tomb of the Headless Kings. ;)

Day 20 - Tomb of the Headless Kings
Objective: Pull the vines to release the skull, then match it on the right head.
Season(s): 3
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 20: Tomb of the Headless Kings
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on June 25, 2014, 11:32:57 PM
I gave this room a 6. It was a pretty neat room, and I liked the challenge of pulling the vines to find the skull. I would've ranked this higher if the room wasn't so cramped and dark, and if some contestants didn't pull on the same vines over and over again. Nick from Melted Head I'm looking at you. I do like it better than most of the other rooms in the same room space, but the room could've been better.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 20: Tomb of the Headless Kings
Post by: The Red Jaguars on June 25, 2014, 11:39:51 PM
I gave the Headless Kings a 4. I liked almost every single room in Season 3 except for this one. There was just too many problems with it that made it too time consuming. First off, it felt like the contestants wasted too much time pulling on the same vines in this room. And there was also too many vines for them to pull too. Secondly, the room was too dark and cramped. I am surprised that some contestants didn't have more trouble finding the skulls due to how dark and cramped the room was. And finally, it felt like there were too many guards in this room. It was a unique concept and I loved the sound effects, but it was too cramped and time consuming. I like the Laser Light Room much better than the Headless Kings.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 20: Tomb of the Headless Kings

I also like the Laser Light Room better too. But then again, I really don't like any of these rooms, at all. There are about.... three that I'm even looking forward to. Legends was just way too uncreative with 90% of these rooms. =/

Here's some interesting rooms we haven't rated yet:

- Laser Light Room
- Jester's Court
- Shrine
- King's Storeroom
- Stone Column
- Rock Quarry
- Bamboo Forest
- Chamber

But yeah, a lot of these rooms were kind of easy and cheesy. You can blame Season 2 for having all these bland and uninspiring rooms.

Up next is The Torch Room. ;)

Day 21 - Torch Room
Objective: Place a torch in the pedestals in front of the room. Or simply hop in the elevator.
Season(s): 1
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 21: Torch Room
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on June 27, 2014, 11:30:11 PM
I gave this room a 3. Why must all these Season 1 rooms suck so bad? O_O It was just some bland, filler room with well.... torches. Was this room ever completed at all? Jennifer from John Sutter doesn't count because she didn't even need to complete the objective. Most of the time, the contestants would just simply pass through this room, and go straight to the elevator. And even THAT didn't happen often. Furthermore, this room didn't last long anyways. And when it was brought back, all it got was a name change of "The Room of Three Torches." If that doesn't say uninspiring and running out of ideas, I don't know what will.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 21: Torch Room
Post by: The Red Jaguars on June 27, 2014, 11:41:59 PM
I gave the Torch Room a 3. Such a forgettable and boring room on the show. I forgot that it even existed in the temple. And despite appearing in the temple for almost the whole season, it was only completed two times? The only reason it didn't get a lower score was because at least it had some kind of objective. Unlike most Season 1 rooms that were hit the actuator rooms. But still a boring and lame room that had no scenery. I honestly had no idea that there were torches in the room until Mandy completed the room in Joan of Arc.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 21: Torch Room
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on June 27, 2014, 11:44:27 PM
Actually, it was never completed at all. It was just passed through twice. And yeah, I always forget that there are torches in the room too. Even Jackie from Oracle Bowl got confused in that room. I mean, even when the Pirate's Cove was in tact, the room STILL had torches in it. But, at least it had some sort of objective, like you said. I just wish it was actually completed more.

And by the way, you said you gave it a 3, yet it says you gave it a 4. Maybe that was what you meant?
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 21: Torch Room
Post by: The Red Jaguars on June 27, 2014, 11:46:33 PM
Wasn't the Torch Room completed in Gordian Knot and Joan of Arc? Because both second runners made the mistake of taking the Well bucket. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 21: Torch Room
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on June 27, 2014, 11:49:32 PM
Yeah, but it was called "The Room of Three Torches" by that point. Which is always considered two different rooms for some reason. I was thinking of the S1L1-2 version/naming of the room. Maybe my wording in my reasoning was a little wrong. Because I was completely convinced we were covering both "name" variations of the room. Oh well, my vote still stays. ;)

Day 22 - The Well
Objective: Ride the elevator up to the above room, and climb the ladder to enter the Shrine.
Season(s): 1
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 22: The Well
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on June 28, 2014, 11:37:47 PM
I gave this room a 5. I don't know if this is too high or too low, but it's another room I feel indifferent about. I don't hate it, but I don't love it. If it's one thing positive I can say, I liked how the elevator resembled a "well bucket," and it did its job serving as an elevator for the contestants. And I also liked how they reused the "Well" for the Rock Quarry one season later. Other than that, it was just yet another room that just happened to have an elevator in it. While it's MUCH better than say.... the Dungeon, I wasn't overly impressed with this room.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 22: The Well
Post by: The Red Jaguars on June 29, 2014, 01:17:56 AM
I gave the Well a 3. It was a pretty boring room that always came off as a Mine Shaft ripoff. They should've just brought back the Mine Shaft instead of ever using this. Not to mention, the room was just an empty space. I did sort of like how it was reused later on in the Rock Quarry. Other than that, this room was lame and uninspiring. Plus, it was just a Mine Shaft ripoff when we get down to it.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 22: The Well

Day 23 - The Laser Light Room
Objective: Pull off the panels to reveal the special white laser.
Season(s): 2
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 23: The Laser Light Room
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on June 30, 2014, 11:51:11 PM
I gave this room an 8. FINALLY a halfway decent room! I liked the concept of pulling off the blocks to reveal the white light, and I like how the room lit up like a disco rink once it was completed. This is probably my favorite bottom central shaft room ever. It was a very neat looking room which provided a little bit of a challenge for the contestants. And I'm glad it lasted as long on the show as it did. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 23: The Laser Light Room
Post by: The Red Jaguars on July 01, 2014, 12:00:38 AM
I gave the Laser Light Room an 8. This was easily the best bottom of the central shaft room. I know the objective was all about luck and was easy, but that doesn't matter because this room was very memorable to me. And I liked how the laser light effects looked in this room. Like I said earlier, an easy objective doesn't make it a bad room. The Laser Light Room is a perfect example of this.  :mrsilver:
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 23: The Laser Light Room
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on July 01, 2014, 12:02:30 AM
And somehow I always forget that the "disco effect" machine is always in front of the room, but not exactly in the camera frame all the time. Why couldn't all rooms have that little quirk? Like the Jester's Court lighting up once the objective is done. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 23: The Laser Light Room
Post by: AimYourBrent on July 01, 2014, 02:21:51 AM
I gave the Laser Light Room a 7. It's a fine room, just not as interesting as some others. But still good. I like that the objective mixes agility and luck.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 23: The Laser Light Room

Objective: Align the stone column correctly to proceed to the next room.
Season(s): 2
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 24: The Observatory - Stone Column
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on July 02, 2014, 12:00:31 AM
I gave this room an 8. Easily the best Observatory room variation ever. I liked the concept of aligning a stone puzzle in order to advance to the next room. In other words, it was an objective, NOT just "spin this object and move on." The producers really did a good job with this room. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 24: The Observatory - Stone Column
Post by: AimYourBrent on July 02, 2014, 12:22:20 AM
I gave the Stone Column an 8. I love this Observatory variant and would have enjoyed seeing it in Season 3 as well.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 24: The Observatory - Stone Column
Post by: The Red Jaguars on July 02, 2014, 04:32:14 PM
I am going to give the Stone Column an 8 as well. It was the perfect room for the top of the central shaft. And it was one of the few rooms that required skill with no luck involved. I really wish they brought this room back to Season 3 instead of replacing it with the King's Storeroom. They could've changed the puzzle a little bit and it would've worked perfectly. I loved watching how contestants like Shem and Matt from Dolley Madison dominated this room.  :mrsilver:  :mrorange:
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 24: The Observatory - Stone Column
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on July 02, 2014, 06:30:03 PM
I was also gonna say.... they should've brought this room back for Season 3. I was just never into the cramped Season 3 version of the King's Storeroom. A room like this would've fit in perfectly in Season 3. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 24: The Observatory - Stone Column
Post by: AimYourBrent on July 02, 2014, 07:56:29 PM
I love the King's Storeroom but I prefer it to be in it's normal spot. I don't know what means for the Room of the Ancient Warriors. I mean, they could have, you know, changed up the layout a little bit!
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 24: The Observatory - Stone Column
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on July 02, 2014, 09:14:54 PM
Yeah, the producers could've changed the Season 3 layout around at least once. Even if it meant repeating rooms from Season 2. And I also agree that The King's Storeroom was much better in its original spot in Season 2 than in Season 3. ;)

On another note, this seriously needs some more votes. Come on people, vote! I really don't want to update these polls until I get at least 5 votes.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 24: The Observatory - Stone Column
Post by: The Red Jaguars on July 02, 2014, 09:42:30 PM
I am really not a fan of the Season 3 King's Storeroom at all. I liked it better when the contestants broke the pots with their hands. Even though it made more sense for them to use the middle part of the room to do it. Plus, I hated the camera angle in the S3 King's Storeroom. I would've definitely kept the Stone Column and just tweak the objective a little bit. Like I would use a different design for the column for example.

And I forgot to vote in this poll.  Now you just need one more vote to get to your goal. ;) (GM1 or TSM perhaps?)
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 24: The Observatory - Stone Column
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on July 02, 2014, 10:23:08 PM
I hate Season 3's King's Storeroom. Too cramped, and the camera angle looked really bad. Season 2's version was better. While we're on the subject of the Season 2 version of the Observatory, (like we are right now), this should've returned for Season 3. In the same spot of course.

And now I need one more vote for this poll. ;) Should I leave this poll open for an extra day, or should I update it anyways with 4 votes?
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 24: The Observatory - Stone Column

I wouldn't mind if you wait for another vote. Although right now this forum is in kind of a slump, so I wouldn't get my hopes up. Even my rating thread is down with voters. But I still update it even with 3 votes since it is a long series.

I anticipate there will be more voters as the summer goes on. ;)

Season(s): 2
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 25: The Rock Quarry
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on July 02, 2014, 11:36:16 PM
I gave this room an 8. I thought this was a great Pit variation, and it was executed MUCH better than the Season 1 Wheel Room/Troubled Bridge. So we now see "The Well" again, although this time as a bucket to throw rocks in, so the rock slab can lower. And I liked this objective too, since it was an actual challenge and not just a "hit the actuator" and move on type of room. I wouldn't exactly say this was my favorite Pit Room, (the S2L4-5 Pit with the rock ledge and rope was better), but it was still a good room nonetheless. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 25: The Rock Quarry
Post by: The Red Jaguars on July 03, 2014, 09:15:43 AM
I gave the Rock Quarry a 7. This room was definitely better than the Wheel Room. It was more wide open and the objective was more unique. And the room had an actual objective too. I liked how it incorporated the bucket from the old Well room for the objective. Plus, I liked how it appeared in a reasonable amount of episodes unlike the Wheel Room that appeared in more than half of Season 1. A great room indeed.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 25: The Rock Quarry
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on July 03, 2014, 04:11:28 PM
Actually, I don't like this room after all. I'd expect to be more excited for a room that's "so great and wonderful." I don't know, I'm gonna change my vote, again. Thinking about it now, it's a really ugly room, and it there's very little selection for which room you could go to. It's so hard to be "excited" for a room that looks so dull looking. What was I thinking? It's not a spectacular room at all. =/
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 25: The Rock Quarry

This is a great variation of The Pit. I gave it a 7 only because it didn't allow the player to choose a path. I would have otherwise gone with an 8.

Day 26 - The Room of the Golden Idols
Objective: Push down on their bases to open a door, or simply hit an actuator and move on.
Season(s): 1
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 26: The Room of the Golden Idols
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on July 05, 2014, 11:27:04 PM
I gave this room a 5. I would've liked this room A LOT better if it were executed properly. The contestants should've literally been forced to push down on the idols bases, then move on. Not just mosey in and out of the room, and just treat the idols as if they were decoration. If it's one positive thing I can say, the idols themselves looked neat. They looked like expensive statues. And I also liked how they were used as temple decoration in Season 3. So good to know the idols didn't go completely to waste. But I just wish the room would've been treated more as an objective. Though I MUCH prefer this room over the utterly useless thing called the Treasure Room.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 26: The Room of the Golden Idols
Post by: The Red Jaguars on July 06, 2014, 12:32:20 AM
I gave the Golden Idols a 4. It had the potential to be a good introductory room in Season 1, but the producers definitely missed the mark by adding the actuators to the room. I mean the room was kind of like the Treasure Room minus the big useless chest. I really don't know why they just didn't make the statues required to move on? The producers just weren't very creative in Season 1 I guess. I do like how the room looked though at least. The Golden Idols were very well detailed and that is the reason why I named my website after this room.  :mrblue: And I definitely prefer it over the lame Treasure Room any day.

The Room of the Golden Idols is the perfect candidate of "good idea, bad execution." The statues looked nice, but the contestants really should've been forced to complete the objective, then move on. Oh well, at least it's good for the website you named this room after. :mryellow:
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 26: The Room of the Golden Idols

I went with a 4 on this one. The room sure looked really nice and the objective was a great concept. I'm honestly surprised the producers missed the mark on this one. Why add actuators?! Makes no sense. And for that reason I can't give it the "Season 1 pass".

Day 27 - The Bamboo Forest
Objective: Wade your way through the bamboo branches, and proceed to the next room.

Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 27: The Bamboo Forest
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on July 07, 2014, 11:32:19 PM
I gave this room an 8. While it was just a "hit the actuator" room at the end of the day, it was still a very neat looking, creative room. And really, wading your way through those thick "branches" is challenging enough. I sincerely wish they would've kept this room longer than just S1L6. I MUCH prefer it over the uninspiring Swamp and utterly lame Spider's Lair. I don't know if I'm alone on this, but I really like this room. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 27: The Bamboo Forest
Post by: The Red Jaguars on July 08, 2014, 07:07:54 AM
I love the Bamboo Forest! I know it was simply just a "hit the actuator" room, but the room was so unique and short-lived that it is hard to hate. It definitely was no easy task to traverse the bamboo poles either. The other rooms in this space were boring, but the Bamboo Forest looked great with the room filled with bamboo poles. It is very unfortunate that this room only appeared in one layout. I would've kept it there the rest of the season. I am going to give it an 8.  :mrorange:

I also liked the Holes of Python, but I definitely liked the Bamboo Forest better. I think that and the Jester's Court are my two favorite rooms in that room space. The rest of the rooms were lame. It was a very unique and nice looking room. ;) :mrorange:

Sorry for not updating these polls. I just wanted to get one more vote in so I wouldn't just be counting three votes. Does anyone still want to continue this, at all? If no, then I'll lock both threads.

I say keep them going. ;) It is always nice to talk about Legends related stuff around here and keeps my interest in this place. I know it is not very active right now, but I am sure some of the regular voters are taking a break and might come back in the future. Although I am surprised a couple of active ones aren't stopping by to take 3 seconds to vote. Oh well, can't force everyone to play I guess.

On another note, I am glad to see the Bamboo Forest get some love.  :mrorange:

Up next is The Chamber of the Sacred Markers. ;)

Day 28 - Chamber of the Sacred Markers
Objective: Match the symbols on the right, to the same symbols on the left.
Season(s): 3
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 28: Chamber of the Sacred Markers
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on July 11, 2014, 01:13:13 AM
I gave this room an 8. I liked the challenge of matching the symbols, and the concept of searching for the missing markers all over the room. I also liked the overall look in the room, very golden and ancient looking. As opposed to the Heart Room wallpaper the first two seasons had. I really don't have anything negative to say about this room. This might be the best center of the room ever. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 28: Chamber of the Sacred Markers
Post by: The Red Jaguars on July 11, 2014, 11:53:49 AM
I gave the Chamber an 8. I liked how this room completely overhauled the room space for a new look. While I liked the red wallpaper, it definitely had to go in Season 3. And the design looked really awesome too. I am not the biggest fan of the objective for this room, but it was still unique and not time consuming like the Headless Kings. Only Katie from Clovis I struggled in this room. I also enjoyed the different temple guard locations. Especially when it was behind the door to the King's Storeroom. This was a good and memorable room, and I would've liked to see it return in Season 4. :mrblue:
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 28: Chamber of the Sacred Markers
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on July 11, 2014, 06:53:08 PM
This room definitely should've been back for Season 4. And like you said, the only player to ever struggle with the room was Katie from Clovis the First. I also agree that the pink wallpaper needed to go by Season 3. It just wouldn't have fit in with the overall atmosphere of Season 3 at all. Also, you said you gave the room an 8, yet the poll says you gave it a 9. Maybe you meant to vote for an 8? Just wondering. ;)

I forgot to place my vote, so that is why there was only 2 votes even though the rest of the polls have 3 votes. :P But now I placed my vote for an 8. Overall, I enjoyed this room even though I criticized it in the past. It was definitely much better than the previous rooms in the center of the temple. The unique temple guard captures also make this room memorable.

Oh yeah, I totally forgot about the unique temple guard hiding space. I just love how they would just pop up unexpectantly, scaring the crap out of the contestants. Either this room or the Room of the Ancient Warriors had the best temple guard captures, hands down. :mrpurple:

Wait a minute, I was wrong about that guard. Andrea met a guard in the Ancient Warriors and not the Chamber. Maybe it was Lacey from Sforza? You know the guard that was too lazy to leave through the door so he hides by the wall instead.

That was Jessica from Lost Hornpipe, that had the guard just standing around awkwardly, even long after Jessica had left that room.

I have the Chamber a 9. I thought it was THAT good of a room. Reasonable objective with just the right amount of difficulty without being TOO difficult. Nice room design. Great use of the space. By far the best room to ever occupy the center space.

Up next is The Room of Harmonic Convergence. ;)

Day 29 - Room of Harmonic Convergence
Objective: Step on the right two steps, and proceed to the next room.
Season(s): 1
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 29: Room of Harmonic Convergence
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on July 12, 2014, 11:41:59 PM
I gave this room a 5. It was a neat concept, and I liked how it looked like a "Dance Revolution" game. But it was like most Season 1 rooms, good idea, poor execution. Most of the time the room was broken, and the right two steps weren't really the well.... right two steps. Lost Logbooks and Belshazzar were perfect examples of this. I might rank it higher, but for now, I think a 5 is a suitable rating for this room.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 29: Room of Harmonic Convergence
Post by: The Red Jaguars on July 13, 2014, 12:10:07 AM
The Room of Harmonic Convergence had too much wasted potential. It was a good concept for a room, but it felt broken most of the time. Runs like Belshazzar and Lost Logbooks suffered because of how buggy this room was. Even when the room did work, it still caused some confusion. Also, the room is kind of ugly too. It was just too bright and similar to the Throne Room. Despite the complaints, I liked this room much better than the lame Throne Room. If it actually worked more, I would've given it a higher score. But due to the problems I talked about, I can only give it a 4.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 29: Room of Harmonic Convergence
Post by: AimYourBrent on July 13, 2014, 09:52:03 PM
I originally went with a 7 but changed to a 6 because the room was always broken.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 29: Room of Harmonic Convergence
Post by: The Red Jaguars on July 13, 2014, 11:08:16 PM
This room seems like a hit or miss for most fans. Some people like it for the unique objective and how it is an upgrade from the Throne Room, while some point don't like it due to how broken it could be. I would like this room a lot more if it didn't give so many problems. But in a Season 1 temple where almost every room was nothing but simple objectives, this room comes off as being one of the best ideas ever. Too bad it was wasted potential like most Season 1 rooms.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 29: Room of Harmonic Convergence

Up next is The Viper's Nest. ;)

Day 30 - Viper's Nest
Objective: Pull the snakes out of the jar, or simply proceed into the elevator.
Season(s): 2
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 30: Viper's Nest
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on July 14, 2014, 11:36:39 PM
I gave this room a 5. The concept of pulling snakes from a jar was cool I guess, very prank like. But I don't know, I just wasn't entirely sold on the idea. And it was yet another one of the top corner rooms where you didn't need to complete it if you were coming from the Shrine. Plus, this objective was only done twice, one of which was when a contestant didn't even need to complete it. I don't know, I'm more indifferent to this room. And I really don't have any strong feelings for it.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 30: Viper's Nest
Post by: The Red Jaguars on July 14, 2014, 11:52:39 PM
I am going to give this room a 3. Like most rooms in this space, the Viper's Nest was rarely completed. Not that it was entirely the rooms fault, but it doesn't have much going for it. Even when it was completed, the objective was so easy that it made you think it was a Season 1 room. I mean pulling snakes from a jar? Okay. Plus I hardly remember this room existing even though it had a couple of good artifacts located in it (NOT Butch Cassidy ;) ). It was a lame room that just rotted away before being replaced by another unfortunate sap.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 30: Viper's Nest
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on July 14, 2014, 11:56:35 PM
Of course Butch Cassidy was a great artifact! Don't you remember Matt the amazing player who lead their team all the way to the temple? :o

But yeah, most boring room ever. Though I doubt the producers would be creative enough to think of that room for Season 1.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 30: Viper's Nest
Post by: The Red Jaguars on July 14, 2014, 11:58:53 PM
Well, I would say the Torch Room is the most boring room. I didn't even know there were torches in there until Jennifer from Lost Gold Mine tried completing it. :mrblue: Coincidentally, it was the predecessor to the Viper's Nest.  :P
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 30: Viper's Nest
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on July 15, 2014, 12:04:06 AM
Well, at least the Torch Room looked sort of neat with the golden Season 1 lighting. The Viper's Nest just looked so dark and dreary looking. Like, it would make you fall asleep just looking at the room. Even the Lightning Room and Room of the Secret Password looked better. It's funny how the players who didn't even need to complete those respective objectives (John Sutter's Jennifer and Ty) were the ones who actually won. :mrblue: :mrorange: Of course, Brett from Dr. Livingstone completed it too, but he actually needed to. :P

Season(s): 1, 2
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 31: Swamp
Post by: The Red Jaguars on July 15, 2014, 11:55:50 PM
I gave the Swamp a 4. It is not as bad as the Spider's Lair, but at least it was memorable and it looked like a Swamp. And at least they got the "murky"part right with the room too. But still, it was just an empty waste of space and the Bamboo Forest is much better than the Swamp. They shouldn't have brought this room back to Season 2 either. :?
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 31: Swamp
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on July 15, 2014, 11:56:28 PM
I gave this room a 3. Why can't these Season 1 rooms be more creative? If my above "description" wasn't already indication enough, it's just a hit the actuator room. That's it. Granted, it WAS better than the Spider's Lair, but this room is nothing short of uninspiring. If it's one positive thing I can say about this room, I did like the Season 1 green Swamp better than the dirty looking Season 2 brown Swamp. I just thought the green looked neater, though the brown did make it look well.... Swampier. Other than that, this room was a bore.

I gave this room a perfect 10. What can I say? This room was amazing! Great challenge, very memorable in both objective and player performance wise, and it's just in general an iconic room. There was a reason this room stuck around for literally every single episode of the show. I also liked the room space it was in too. Seriously, you couldn't ask for a better room than this. It would be a shame to NOT bring it back, had the show been picked up for Season 4. Long live the Shrine! :mrblue: :mrteal:
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 32: Shrine of the Silver Monkey
Post by: The Red Jaguars on July 17, 2014, 11:25:24 PM
A perfect 10! This was the best room on the show and easily the most iconic thing on Legends next to Olmec and Kirk. The objective was very unique and truly tested the contestants skills out! Some of the best moments on the show came from this room. If the show continued on longer, I expect to see it with the same objectives. I can't see how this room can get anything lower than a 10?!

It was the Shrine of the Silver Monkey, how can you not love it?  :mrsilver:
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 32: Shrine of the Silver Monkey

And I find it amazing that this is literally, THE only room that I gave a perfect 10 to. Isn't that sad how I had to emphasize that?

But yeah, this room was amazing in every way. From the fast assemblies, to the silver monkey fails, and just the objective in general. :mrsilver: I'm pretty sure it got a perfect 10 in your old thread on this. Correct me if I'm wrong though, but I think it did. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 32: Shrine of the Silver Monkey
Post by: The Red Jaguars on July 17, 2014, 11:30:04 PM
No room got a perfect 10 in that thread, surprisingly. I think the Shrine got a 9 from a couple of users. :o

Also, what is your all time favorite Silver Monkey assembly on the show? Since we are talking about the Shrine. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 32: Shrine of the Silver Monkey
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on July 17, 2014, 11:40:21 PM
I figured it didn't get a perfect 10, but maybe this time around it will. :mrsilver:

And I personally liked David from Lawrence of Arabia's assembly. He was the ONLY contestant who pulled off "bringing all the pieces to the front of the room" at once properly. Mike from Thornwood Gavel and Brandon from Bone Necklace had some pretty awesome assemblies too. Especially that tall Brandon. PP Pwnage! :mrpurple:
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 32: Shrine of the Silver Monkey
Post by: The Red Jaguars on July 18, 2014, 07:43:33 AM
Yeah, David from Lawrence of Arabia is definitely my all-time favorite. He grabbed all three pieces at once and then put the Silver Monkey together like there was nothing to it. Some players couldn't even handle one piece.  Mike from Thornwood Gavel, Brandon, Jarrid, and Gator all had good assembles too. But David's will always be my favorite one.

The worst one is easily Larry's Monster Monkey. He didn't even come close with a minute to himself. Although Kim from Charles Lindbergh did a lousy job too. She kept dropping her pieces and putting them in the wrong place.

Season(s): 2
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 33: Pit of Despair (Rope Swing)
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on July 18, 2014, 11:27:59 PM
I gave this room an 8. I thought this was a great pit room. I especially liked the way this pit looked, with the rocks, the rope, and of course the green balls at the bottom. Even though this was yet another hit the actuator room, I liked how the contestants had the option to swing across the Pit, and jump down at the same time. It didn't limit where the contestants could or couldn't go. Plus, this Pit did have some memorable moments, like Tarrah's epic jump across the Pit in the Freydis run. This is probably my second favorite Pit Room next to the Pit of the Pendulum. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 33: Pit of Despair (Rope Swing)
Post by: The Red Jaguars on July 18, 2014, 11:32:02 PM
I gave the Pit of the Pendulum a 7. It was definitely one of the best and most creative Pits on the show and it felt like an actual objective. I like how when the column was knocked over that it showed all of the available rooms that were open. And I also liked how you can go around and knock down the column different ways. On the other hand, I liked it when the contestants could go up to the door they want and simply choose their next path. That was the one charm I liked about the old Pits. And admittedly, I hope they would replace it in Season 4.

Umm, Stone Marker? You do realize this is The Pit of Despair Rope from Season 2 and NOT the already covered Pit of the pendulum, right? Please pay attention to the name of this thread. You might want to reconsider your vote and reasoning. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 33: Pit of Despair (Rope Swing)
Post by: The Red Jaguars on July 18, 2014, 11:37:58 PM
That would help. I gave it an 8 then for the same reasons. It was definitely my most favorite Pit form and you can tell that the producers used this idea for the Pit of the Pendulum. The rock slabs were a clever addition because it made it easier for more teams to use the upper routes. And I like it better too when the contestants could hit the actuator to open their next door. No offense to the Pit of the Pendulum. Also, it had some very memorable moments like Jason from Dog Leash and Tarrah from Freydis.  :mrorange:  :mrpurple:

I can't believe I forgot to mention Jason from Nostradamus and his grab the rope with the leash bit. :o But yeah, this was one of my favorite pit rooms ever. It's a tie between this and the Pit of the Pendulum for which one I like better. I think I might like the Pit of the Pendulum a little more though. ;)

Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on July 19, 2014, 11:27:37 PM
I gave this room a 4. The pirate ship wheel was neat I guess, but it was just a Torch Room in disguise. I mean, if you headed toward the Shrine, you STILL had to do the Torch Room objective. It defeats the purpose of half the room. I guess there was not much you could do with this room, because it wouldn't make sense to spin a ships wheel just to gain access to the Shrine. I don't know, this room was poorly executed.

I have this room a 3 for the same reasons. They really could have done a LOT with this room. Oh well.

I gave the Pirate's Cove a 2. I hate this room and the idea felt like it came from the playground or pre-school. Seriously, it looks so silly for a teenager to spin some Pirate wheel as a room objective. The room itself was bland and was just the Torch Room with a pirate wheel added on. Also, I like how the room had dual objectives but no one ever explained the Torch Room part. You wonder why Jackie from Oracle Bowl was confused in this room. Not even Kirk knew what to do at first. The only redeeming part is that it forced the players to actually complete an objective before entering the room below. But the objective was so easy that it is nothing special at all.

They must've had 5-year old kids designing these rooms. I mean why else would we have such lame rooms like the Throne Room, Pirate's Cove, Heart Room, Dungeon, your Treasure Room, Swamp, etc.

Look at it this way: This poll is almost over. After that good 'ol Day 43, you never have to see this poll again. And I never made a comparison chart. Unless you want to make you like you did for the wins thread. But I wanted to check with you first.

Up next is The King's Storeroom. ;)

Day 35 - The King's Storeroom
Objective: Smash the pots to find the key, put it in the pedestal, and proceed to the next room.
Season(s): 2, 3
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 35: The King's Storeroom
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on July 20, 2014, 11:26:17 PM
I gave this room an 8. This was one of the best rooms this show has ever seen. Not only did it have a great challenge to it, but I liked the concept of smashing pots just to find a key. Very smart move bringing it back for Season 3, albeit in a different room space. I personally liked Season 2's room space better. Not only because it was less cramped, but because I just loved admiring the different colored pots that were on display throughout the episodes/filming days. I loved this room, and I would've loved to see it again had the show been picked up for Season 4. :mrorange:

If this was the Season 2 version, I would give it a 10. This was a great and memorable room in my eyes. The concept was unique and definitely very fun to do. I always wanted to be the contestant to break the pots. Also, some of the pot designs were cool in this room. It was definitely one of the best rooms on the show. On the other hand, I would give the Season 3 version an 8. This version did not have the same charm as the original one. I didn't like the camera angle used and I preferred when the contestant could break the jars with their hands. Average them two together, I gave the King's Storeroom a 9 overall.

I gave it a 10. My personal favorite room on the show not counting the Shrine, but I feel like that room is in a category all by itself. Great objective, great combination of quickness, brains, and luck required, good placement in the temple, specifically in season 2. Love, love, love this room!

Up next is The Mine Shaft. ;)

Day 36 - Mine Shaft
Objective: Ride the elevator up or down.
Season(s): 1, 2
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 36: Mine Shaft
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on July 23, 2014, 11:55:31 PM
I gave this room a 5. I kind of hate this room. Too dark and gloomy, even with the brown lighting that Season 2 had. It was just an elevator room, and the objective was simple. Plus, the elevator always squashed contestants chances at winning. But you can say that about any elevator room. I don't know if I'm alone on this, but I'm just not impressed with this room, at all.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 36: Mine Shaft

I gave the Mine Shaft a 6. I actually don't mind this room too much despite the criticism it gets. I thought the room design was rather fitting and it had some memorable moments. The one downside to it was that it was never a good idea to ride it because it was so freakin slow. But that is part of it's charm because it punishes the contestants who avoid shortcuts (Ahmed Baba not included because Shane was amazing   ) Unlike the Well, I actually liked the Mine Shaft and having an elevator in the temple was a cool idea. It wouldn't have been so bad though if it didn't ruin so many runs (Mush Pot Hat, Empress Theodora, Two-Cornered Hat, etc.)

And Leopard Skin Cloak. ;) And of course NOT Ahmed Baba. Since you know, he won.

I can't believe I forgot Annie Oakley considering how obvious of a choice that was. :P But yeah, Ahmed Baba gets a free pass though because Shane was amazing.

And I always forget that this room was in Season 1. :o If it wasn't for Galileo, I would forget that the Mine Shaft was the first room use for that space. I am glad they brought it back in Season 2 over the lame Well. And I am also glad they got rid of it in Season 3. I would've hated it if they brought an elevator back during that Season.  ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 36: Mine Shaft
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on July 24, 2014, 12:08:25 AM
Yeah, Leopard Skin Cloak is a classic example of why you shouldn't take an elevator. It's a shame too, Chandra would've won if it weren't for the elevator. Darn elevator, but at least Shane pulled off such a groundbreaking win. So it does make up for it.

And yeah, the Mine Shaft was one of THE very first rooms Season 1 ever had. I also forget it was used so early on in the show. But I like the lighting better in Season 2 than I do in Season 1. But the Quicksand Bog is better. The latter room was more fitting in Season 3, instead of an elevator. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 36: Mine Shaft
Post by: The Red Jaguars on July 24, 2014, 12:11:02 AM
That is correct! And coincidentally, all of the Season 1 rooms that returned in Season 2 were all featured in S1L1 (Throne Room, Heart Room,  Mine Shaft, Shrine, and Swamp). And I definitely liked the Season 2 color better too. The color in that room space for even the Dungeon and Well looked so ugly. Well, I guess it was fitting for the Well because it did give off a "dampy" look. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 36: Mine Shaft
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on July 24, 2014, 12:14:19 AM
Yeah, the dark coloring was fitting for The Well, but not for the rest of the rooms that season. And notice how in Seasons 2 and 3 the Mine Shaft and Quicksand Bog respectively were never changed the whole season, at all? Granted, Season 3 never changed rooms, but it's good those rooms never changed. I can imagine it being a pain to change around elevator rooms all the time.

I personally think they should've just kept the Dungeon in that room space. It was totally creepy and realistic with the two cheap plastic skeletons, giant over-sized tarp, and two ladders that were hard to climb. That way, we can hear Kirk make the "former contestants" remark all season.  :mrred:
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 36: Mine Shaft
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on July 24, 2014, 12:19:31 AM
Keep the Dungeon all season? That was like, one of the ugliest, worst rooms possible. That ranked low for a reason, unless we rank it again, like we "would" for the Treasure Room. :afro:
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 36: Mine Shaft
Post by: The Red Jaguars on July 24, 2014, 12:20:57 AM
Oh yeah, they should've just kept the Treasure Room all season too. That way it could ruin more temple runs and have no purpose. And Mitchell would've been considered a mastermind for being the only contestant to strategically use it. ;) :mrblue:
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 36: Mine Shaft

And he's still the only contestant with the oh so awesome "strategy" either way. So we still win in that aspect. :mrblue: Also, the first two temple runs both had artifacts hidden in the Mine Shaft. So I guess that room is doing something right. ;)

Season(s): 1
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 37: Tomb of the Ancient Kings
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on July 25, 2014, 11:27:15 PM
I gave this room a 7. I thought this room was really neat looking, and I liked the pink and blue colors that went with it too. It really blended in well with the golden doors and the gray, stone wall. The objective was rather easy though, just grab a key in the coffin, or bust through the wall. Still, it was a cool room, but I liked the Dark Forest room and objective a little better.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 37: Tomb of the Ancient Kings

I gave the Tomb of the Ancient Kings a 7. It was one of the best rooms that came out of the first season. The objective wasn't very hard, but it was unique and more challenging than most Season 1 rooms. Also, the room design is pretty cool too. I like the desolate feeling the room gives and it feels like an actual tomb. The golden doors were a nice touch, even though half of them were useless. Also, this room had some of the best temple guard captures. This room was a solid predecessor to the Dark Forest.

Yeah, Great Seal was the one that came to mind.  :mrsilver: And there is the Kamehameha guard too, even though it didn't come from the Tomb.  :mrsilver:

The same thing also happened to Tim in Gordian Knot except that it wasn't as dramatic. Albert's temple guard during the Dragon Lady run was pretty frightening too. And Lea's guard in Sultan Saladin made her fall to the ground.

Yeah, I liked Lea's "yelp" when she ran into her temple guard in the Tomb. Same with the lazy temple guard emerging from the Dungeon at the end of the Kamehameha run. :mrsilver: Tim's temple guard encounter in Gordian Knot was pretty funny too. He also jumped out of the temple, but it wasn't as dramatic as Nick's big jump, like you said.

I gave this room a 6. It was a pretty neat room, and I liked the concept of the holes in the room. It made traversing through the room a challenge, and it certainly beat wading your way through some silly pieces of string. *coughSpider'sLaircough* I guess it was my favorite Season 1 room space, but I just wasn't entirely sold on the idea. I prefer the Jester's Court much more.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 38: Treacherous Holes of Python

I gave the Holes of Python a 7. This room was definitely more challenging than the Swamp and Spider's Lair. It actually did take the contestants quite some time to traverse through the giant holes. Plus, the name of the room was also pretty awesome too. On the downside, I felt that the giant holes were a little uninspiring too like it came from a playground or something. But still, the objective was time consuming compared to other Season 1 ones. I enjoyed this room, but I still prefer the Bamboo Forest much more over this one.

I gave this room a 5. Another uninspiring Season 1 room. You just press a tongue, then proceed to the Wall Climb, Troubled Bridge or wherever. Some challenge that is. I prefer the Room of the Royal Gongs over this room, and even THAT room was lame too. If I can say one thing positive, I did like how they used the old Gargoyle heads as scenery for the Season 3 temple. So at least it got SOME good use out of it. They did the same thing with the Room of the Golden Idols too. Otherwise, this room and objective is nothing special at all. Give me the Crypt over both Season 1 top entry rooms please.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 39: Room of the Three Gargoyles
Post by: The Red Jaguars on July 28, 2014, 11:48:37 PM
I gave the Gargoyles a 6. It was a pretty easy room, but I don't really have hard feelings towards it. It served its purpose in Season 1 and was better than most rooms. I mean it was an entrance room after all, so it had to have an easy objective. The gargoyle heads looked cool also, and I loved how they were used in Season 3 as decoration. This room is no where as a good as the Crypt, but it served its purpose as an entrance room. Honestly, this room should've stayed throughout Season 1. The Royal Gongs were lame and a blatant rip-off. Cool room at the end of the day.  ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 39: Room of the Three Gargoyles

I went with a 6 just because this room had a very good concept and a whole lot of potential. And it gets a bit of a pass for being a Season 1 room.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 39: Room of the Three Gargoyles
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on July 29, 2014, 12:49:08 AM
I admit, the Gargoyle objective was better executed than the Royal Gongs objective, but I guess I liked how the Royal Gongs looked better. But yeah, at the end of the day, it was a Season 1 room. So the objective was sort of supposed to be easy, like you guys said. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 39: Room of the Three Gargoyles
Post by: The Red Jaguars on July 29, 2014, 09:18:28 PM
I would've liked the Royal Gongs a lot better if they came around much sooner. I mean they were in a total of 9 episodes.  I do agree that they looked neat, but I always felt they were a knockoff of the Three Gargoyles. The Gargoyle are by no mean a spectacular room, but this was one of the original rooms and was pretty nostalgic for me and it served its purpose like the Cave of Sighs. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 39: Room of the Three Gargoyles
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on July 29, 2014, 09:23:45 PM
Yeah, it probably would've been better if the Gargoyle Room did last the whole season, instead of shoehorning in the Royal Gongs room at the end of Season 1. We really never got to appreciate the Royal Gongs room since it lasted for such a short time. Oh well, the production crew made up for it by giving us the Crypt, which lasted for all of Seasons 2 and 3. ;) :mrpurple:

I gave this room a 5. It was a step up from the utterly lame sundial, but there was no real challenge to it. Just spin the celestial lights around, then move on. Simple. I did like the lights themselves, it looked like a disco ball, much like the Laser Light Room. But the objective itself was just uninspiring and the room didn't last long anyways. I'll take the Season 2 version of the Observatory any day. And it is better than the sundial.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 40: The Observatory - Celestial Lights

I gave the Celestial Lights a 4. It was just the Sundial with fancy light attached to it. Nothing special at all and comes off as a ripoff at the same time. I could care less about this room and it was short-lived like the Royal Gongs. But I do like it a little better than the Sundial though. At least Season 2 fixed this lame room.

I gave the Wall Climb a 3. It was so ugly and the amount of time spent in some of these temple runs were ridiculous. The ropes in the Pit were anything but helpful and the contestants who wanted to use the upper doors struggled because of them. They were better off using the holes in the wall. Probably my least favorite form of the Pit and I am glad that it got replaced. Stupid ropes.

I gave this room a 3. Yet another Season 1 room I hate. If I had to pick a least favorite Pit room, it would be this one. Seriously, all you have to do is climb wall, press button, move on. Simple as that. I did like it better with the ropes, but that's it. Needless to say, I'm glad this Pit variation didn't last too long, and I preferred the Wheel Room/Troubled Bridge more.

Of course, the Treasure Room has to be included because it's such a little darling around here. And it was miraculously a Pit Room. :P

And how can you incorporate a large treasure chest in a Pit room? It would make for an interesting Pit variation. :afro:

I gave it a 4. Yeah it's not the best room but it definitely offered a nice challenge. And the players got to choose their path.

And with a 3.25 average, time to end the poll for The Wall Climb.

Up next is our second to last room, The Treasury of the Golden Orbs. ;)

Day 42 - Treasury of the Golden Orbs
Objective: Put an orb on the correct pedestal, then proceed to the next room.
Season(s): 1

I gave this room an 8. I was gonna give it a 7, but then I figured an 8 would be more fitting. Even though this room only lasted a short time, I really liked this objective and the challenge that it had. I liked the whole "place orb on the right pedestal" concept. And unlike the rooms before it, you had to actually FINISH the room before proceeding. With all the pedestals, it was like it was foreshadowing the King's Storeroom, which would take over this room space for the following season. This was MUCH better than the Treasure Room by a long shot. Why this wasn't incorporated into a room sooner, if not ALL of Season 1, is beyond me.

And tomorrow we cover the last room ever. This was certainly a fun ride, wasn't it? ;)

I gave the Golden Orbs a 7. I can't believe the producers took almost the whole season to replace the utter waste of space known as the Treasure Room. If they included more rooms like this one earlier on in the season, then maybe more Season 1 runs would get respect. The objective itself was an actual challenge and not pressing some lame button pressing room disguised with some other "objective" like the Golden Idols and Treasure Room. I really want to give this room a higher score, but it was so short-lived and the objective was a little iffy. I mean if you watch the three runs where the objective was completed (Ron never completed it in Anne Bonny), it was the same pedestal that worked all the time. Just like the Bamboo Forest, this room deserved much more air time. The Treasure Room shouldn't have even happened.

We all know that it is not the Treasure Room (Sorry, I have to make fun of this room one more time before the thread ends.)  :mrred:

But yeah, the Jester's Court was one of the centerpiece rooms of the temple. It might even have the second highest score.  :mrorange:

Why shouldn't the Treasure Room be so well received? It's such an "awesome room." :mrred: :afro:

But yeah, the Jester's Court is definitely gonna rank high. It's my second favorite room next to the Shrine. :mrorange:

I was gonna do an 8 but decided to go with a 7 instead. Good, good room. Just not on par with the best, best, best rooms on the show.

And with a non solid 7 average, time to end the second to last poll for The Treasury of the Golden Orbs.

Up next is the final poll, The Jester's Court. ;)

Day 43 - Jester's Court
Objective: Press yourself against the correct wall painting, and proceed to the next room.
Season(s): 2, 3

I gave this room a 9. This is my second favorite room next to the Shrine. I loved the objective, the concept of aligning your body with the paintings on the walls, and even how the wallpaper in the room looked. I personally liked Season 2's version a little better, with the ladder and the laugh once the objective was completed. And you gotta love how the room literally glows in the dark as soon as you're done with the objective. This was definitely one of the more challenging rooms, and easily the best room in that room space. I honestly think they should've come up with this room sooner in Season 2. It certainly beats the Swamp by a long shot. Great room, we definitely saved the best for last here! :mrred:

I gave the Jester's Court a 9! This was one of the staple rooms on the show next to the Shrine, Dark Forest, and King's Storeroom. It had one of the most unique objectives on the show and the design for the Jesters on the wall was top notch. It was definitely a step up from the previous rooms too (although I still love you Bamboo Forest ;) ). I like how the contestants had different positions to align themselves with, even though it felt like the middle painting was the correct one most of the time. :P I would give it a perfect 10 except for two minor complaints: First off, they shoud've kept the ladders leading up in Season 3. Secondly, they should've kept the laugh in Season 3 too. That laugh was perfectly fitting. Overall, this was one of the best and most creative rooms on the show. :mrorange:

Quoted for truth. :mrorange:

But yeah, the Jester's Court was a solid room. I'm glad to end this thread with that room. Now tomorrow I'll have to set up a huge chart. Which I should've done sooner. But hey, this was a fun ride, wasn't it? ;)

Jester's Court8.809.00

So there were some small changes this time around, most of them nothing too big. The biggest leap was the Cave of Sighs, Rock Quarry, Pit of Despair (Rope Swing), and King's Storeroom. There were only two rooms that had averages stay exactly the same, being the Treacherous Holes of Python and Observatory - Celestial Lights. And the first Crypt and Quicksand Bog/Pharaoh's Secret Passage scores are no typo, in case you're wondering. They literally had the exact average of 6.17. Other than that, this whole chart can pretty much do all the talking.

And thank you guys for participating in this. I hope you guys had as much fun voting in this thread as I did. Even if it was just a rehash topic. Any special thanks for me and final thoughts can go in here. ;)

Thanks for the update.  :mrpurple:

No surprise to see most of the new scores be the same as the old scores. For the most part, it looks like most of the scores increased between the original version and this version of the thread. I am shocked that the Crypt had such a low score the first time. It was a memorable and beautifully designed room even if the objective was simple. I was also shocked to see the Chamber ranked pretty low the first time around too. I like the new scores better and believe that they are more agreeable. I just wish the Dark Forest ranked higher. A 7.50 is too low IMO.

And once again, thanks for recreating this topic Paintbrush. It was fun revisiting these rooms again and gave us something to talk about too. Maybe down the road we can revisit another old rating topic too. ;)  :mrpurple:

You're welcome. :mrpurple:

And yeah, I'm surprised the likes of the Crypt and the Chamber scored as low as they did. They were both great and challenging rooms. And the Crypt is hands down THE best entry room on the whole show. I also agree with the scores in this thread than in the other thread. It's a lot more accurate, and the scores are more fitting. And yeah, I would also like to revisit another old topic somewhere down the road. I was actually gonna revive the "Rate the Purple Parrot" run thread. We didn't get very far, and we'd only cover 11 episodes. So it wouldn't take too long. I was gonna wait to revive that topic, but I might actually go through with it since it would be short and easy to go through. ;) :mrpurple:

This was a fun topic!

Interesting to see which rooms got better scores and which got lower. Gad the Kings Storeroom got a lot of love this time.

All in all, I'd say it's pretty solid and I agree with it all for the most part!

Thanks PPF!

And just for reference, Here's the Purple Parrot topic. (http://phantomstemple.us.to/index.php?topic=2709.15) We made it to Day 4 out of a possible 11. That just means 7 more "days" to cover. Which definitely shouldn't take long, even if I skipped a day of updating the poll. Is anyone up for that? If not, then I'll just leave the thread alone. ;)

And yes I removed the poll. Now that voting has ended, I felt like we didn't need the poll to still be standing. :P

I was actually going to do a rating topic for every team separately. I think it is a good idea to continue where we left off. And it might not be a bad idea either to start the thread over again. This way so people that haven't voted before for the earlier runs can get a chance to do so. ;)  :mrpurple:
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 43: Jester's Court

Yeah, I was thinking of starting the whole thread over too. Since the poll in the above thread only has like, three votes to it. Plus, it's a little too outdated, being almost a year old. So with that in mind, I'll start the new Purple Parrot thread tonight. ;) :mrpurple:

Yay!! Let's start it over!!

And I love the idea of doing separate ones for each team. That's a good way to keep the discussion going around here :)

I like the idea too. And the Purple Parrots thread will especially be easy, since it's only 11 episodes.

And I forgot to link the comparison chart to the OP, just like I did with the wins thread. But I'll set that up right now. ;)
