Title: Top 5 Best Temple Losses on the Show - Day Seven: FINAL POLL
Post by: The Red Jaguars on November 22, 2013, 01:53:22 AM
Time for another Legends poll and this time we are trying to find the best 3 temple losses by team. Just like the other polls, everyday I will post a poll dedicated to one of the six teams on the show and you must select their three best losses on the show. What makes a loss good? You can decide for yourself. Maybe it could depend on the team's performance or how memorable and exciting it was? Whatever the reason is, you must choose up to 3 losses for each team. The 3 losses with the most after 24 hours will make the top 3 list for each team. Remember, this poll is dedicated to the LOSSES only. ;)

Best Losses:

Red Jaguars
1. The Royal Torque of Queen Boadicea (4)
2. The Jeweled Necklace of Montezuma (4)
3. The Two-Cornered Hat of Napoleon (4)

Blue Barracudas
1. The Golden Jaguar of Atahualpa (4)
2. The Red Sash of Tokugawa Ieyasu (4)
3. The Electrified Key of Benjamin Franklin (2)

4. The Mummified Hand of the Egyptian King (1)
5. The Pearl Necklace of Gwalior (1)

Green Monkeys
1. The Discarded Seal of Ivan the Terrible (4)
2. The Bullet-Riddled Handbag of Belle Boyd (4)
3. The Comet-Embroidered Battle Flag of William the Conqueror (4)

Orange Iguanas
1. The Mush Pot Hat of Johnny Appleseed (4)
2. The Bonnet of Dolley Madison (4)
3. The Dragon Lady and the Blue Pearl (4)

Purple Parrots
1. The Leopard-Skin Cloak of Annie Oakley (4)
2. King Tut's Cobra Staff (4)
3. The Bone Necklace of the Blackfeet Chief (2)
4. The Golden Pepperoni of Catherine de Medici (2)

Silver Snakes
1. The Priceless Portrait of the Polynesian Girl (4)
2. The Golden Earring of Henry Morgan (4)
3. Henry VIII's Great Seal (2)

Okay, I will admit that most of the Red Jaguar losses don't belong on this list. But I didn't really have trouble choosing their best 3 losses - Queen Boadicea,  Two-Cornered Hat, and Jeweled Necklace.

1. Queen Boadicea - This was one of the best Red Jaguars team on the show after Kris and Kristen from Catherine the Great. Lissy might've been slow, but Nate was a very fast and smart player. The whole run was very exciting and this team came the closest to a bottom of the central shaft victory. They would've won if Lissy moved a little faster, but their layout was kind of long and this team did a really good job. :mrred:

2. Two-Cornered Hat - Another very exciting loss and also pretty memorable. Brian and Carly were a fast and good team, but all hope was lost when Carly took the slow Mine Shaft elevator. But I find it memorable for Brian's girly scream and Carly's rare completion of the Lightning Room. :mrred:

3. Jeweled Necklace - It feels weird voting for this run, but I honestly don't find it to be that bad. Granted, Kevin and Kelly's mistakes were pretty glaring. Kevin shouldn't have taken the direct path all the time and Kelly screwed up in the Shrine pretty bad. But the players still moved fast and they weren't that bad. Plus, this run was very memorable for Kelly dropping the Silver Monkey over the edge.

I also voted for Queen Boadicea, Two Cornered Hat, and Jeweled Necklace. They're literally the only Red Jaguar losses I can even come close to liking.

I think the three best losses for the Red Jaguar are obvious. :P The winners are Boadicea (4), Montezuma (4), and Two-Cornered Hat. :mrred:

The Blue Barracudas are next.  :mrblue:
Title: Re: Top 3 Temple Losses by Team - Day Two: Blue Barracudas

The poll is officially set. The three choices I went with were: Atahualpa, Red Sash, and Electrified Key.

Atahualpa was the only time the Blue Barracudas grabbed the artifact, but failed to escape with it. With that in mind, this loss was very exciting for Season 1 run. Chris shouldn't have entered the Heart Room, but other than that this was a good team and Tracy did a great job following up on his path and still reaching the artifact. Plus, the beginning of the run was hilarious.

Red Sash was another pretty exciting run, although Brandy and Quentin were kind of hesitant. But still, there layout was long and pretty quirky and they still made it to the room with the artifact. Pretty good for a bottom of the central shaft run. If only they had the Shrine-Dark Forest passage, then they would've won.

Electrified Key was a hard choice though. I know this run has a pretty bad reputation, but I actually kind of like it. It was either this one or Mummified Hand, but I though Peter and Michelle weren't that bad of a team. Of course, it should've WAY too obvious for Peter to think he could enter the Throne Room. I can forgive Joe from Golden Ship, but not him. But at least the players were competent, which made this run enjoyable.

Chris, NOT Robert. ;)

And I also voted for Atahualpa, Red Sash, and Electrified Key. The other Blue Barracuda losses were either forgettable or bad.

I am glad that I am not the only one who voted for Benjamin Franklin so far.  :mrblue: I never understood why that run gets blasted too much sometimes. I know Peter blew it pretty bad, but it is like Dolley Madison where the players moved fast and saved this run from being a total waste. Of course, it would've made that production day legendary if this team won. It's not like this run is like another Blue Barracuda bottom of the central shaft run where the frontrunner literally spends their whole time in the temple.

True, but Electrified Key's loss could've easily have been prevented if Peter didn't try for a direct path. And he did this TWICE in the temple run. Oh well, it's not like he's the only contestant to try for a direct path. Some players will even clear out rubble in the Pit just to try for a obviously closed door.

Oh yeah, we can't forget about another Blue Barracuda frontrunner who was more guilty than Peter. *cough Ryan cough*

The other choice for me would've been Mummified Hand. I didn't choose it though because I like Benjamin Franklin slightly better even though it wasn't really Maggie or Josh's fault that they lost. It could go either way for me, but I will just keep Ben Franklin for now. ;)

Time to move onto the Green Monkeys. The Blue Barracuda winners are Atahualpa (4), Red Sash (4), and Benjamin Franklin (2).

Green Monkeys are next.

Green Monkeys poll is set. There were quite some good choices, but I went with Ivan the Terrible, Belle Boyd, and the Comet-Embroidered Battle Flag.

1. Ivan the Terrible - This was the best loss on the show. Travis and Elisa were a great team to watch in the temple and were flawless. They only loss because their layout was impossible and it was not their fault in anyway. This was a great temple run and very exciting too.

2. Belle Boyd - This temple run was not very memorable, but it was still exciting and Matthew and Leah were a great team. They might've not taken the shortest path possible, but they were an awesome team and came very close to the artifact with a tough layout. Like the "Ivan the Terrible" team, they would've won with almost any other temple layout.

3. Comet-Embroidered Battle Flag - It was between this one and Empress Eugenie, but I like this one better because Janeen ruins the Eugenie run. Olivia and Jonathan made some pretty glaring mistakes, but they were still a great team. Reaching an artifact in the center of the temple in Season 3 was a huge accomplishment itself, so they should be happy for even reaching the Chamber. They really should've won, but both were good players and this run was very exciting too.

I also voted for Belle Boyd, Discarded Seal, and Battle Flag. They were all great runs, even if some of them really should've been wins.

The poll is set, and I voted for Cobra Staff, Annie Oakley, and Golden Pepperoni.

1. Cobra Staff - I never understood all the hate this run receives. I know Eusinia was kind of clueless, but she was not a lost cause though. Her fast speed made up for her confusion. David was quite the opposite where he was slow but also smarter. This run was very interesting due to the fact on how these players complement each other. Plus, they managed to reach the artifact at least despite their flaws.

2. Annie Oakley - While Chandra shouldn't have taken the Mine Shaft elevator, this was still a pretty exciting run even if the team should've reached Medusa's Lair. It was also funny for Nick sticking the key inside the King's Storeroom hole. This was a good team, and the one room away guard didn't help matters.

3. Golden Pepperoni - I was originally going to vote for Blackfeet Chief, but I went with this run instead because it was more memorable and really not as bad as people make it out to be. Aqila was not even a bad player, it was just the last 3 seconds of the run where she screwed up. Even then, she completed her rooms at a good pace and people only criticize her for passing up the Golden Pepperoni. Plus, this run was very memorable for Kirk shouting and Chris dropping to his knees.  :P

In terms of quality, I picked Cobra Staff, Annie Oakley, and Blackfeet Chief. To me, they were the better quality losses. I was tempted to pick Golden Pepperoni, but only for it being memorable (for the wrong reasons).

I also picked Cobra Staff, Leopard Skin Cloak, and Golden Pepperoni. Both Cobra Staff and Golden Pepperoni gets way too much undeserved criticism and aren't the terrible runs they are made out to be. In Cobra Staff, yes Eusinia was easily confused and a little clueless, but at least she moved fast despite that. Plus, at least they reached the artifact. And Aqila really is not a bad player at all. She did move pretty slow, but her only mistake was running passed the pepperoni. The criticism she gets is undeserved. And Leopard Skin Cloak was a great run all around. Even though it would've been a win if Chandra didn't take the elevator, it was still a very exciting run.

Poll has been set and I voted for Dragon Lady, Mush Pot Hat, and Dolley Madison.

1. Dragon Lady - This was one of the most exciting losses on the show. Albert may have been a slow frontrunner, but Jennifer was very fast and made this run very exciting. The ending was a nail biter, even though Jennifer should've reached the artifact. It was definitely a memorable run.

2. Mush Pot Hat - This was another pretty good Orange Iguanas team. Angela and Chris really didn't do anything wrong, it was just their layout that was a bit long due to the Mine Shaft elevator. They should've moved faster in other rooms, but there is not much they could've done better. This run was very exciting.

3. Dolley Madison - Too many mistakes made by Matt and Ashlie, but their fast speed made this run very exciting to watch. And they even reached the artifact despite all the time wasted!

Title: Re: Top 3 Temple Losses by Team - Day Six: Silver Snakes
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 01, 2013, 04:00:15 PM
The poll is set, and the 3 runs I voted for were "Henry Morgan", "Polynesian Girl", and "Kamehameha". But really, there was a lot of good choices like "Sir Edmund Hillary" and "Great "Seal".

"Henry Morgan" is the best temple loss next to "Ivan the Terrible". The Silver Snakes were a strong team in the temple despite the mistakes they made. Shem was awesome and his last second grab of the Golden Earring was very memorable. Plus, both him and Ashley's enthusiasm at the end of the run was memorable too.

"Polynesian Girl" was also very exciting and fun to watch. Jim and Kristen were the first team to reach an artifact from the bottom of the central shaft. They really should've won if Kristen wasn't slow at the start, but they were still a good team and I enjoyed this loss very much.

"Kamehameha" is a very exciting run, despite it ending in triple capture. I chose this over "Great Seal" because I found Robbie and Tina a slightly stronger team and the ending is very memorable and tragic. Just watching the Dungeon guard capture Tina is always heartbreaking. This was a good and memorable team.  :mrsilver:

I am going to update this poll now and make the final version of it. The Silver Snakes winners are Polynesian Girl (4), Henry Morgan (4), and Great Seal (2).  :mrsilver:

Now we are going to vote for the 5 best losses on the show. Give me a couple of minutes to set the poll.  ;)
Title: Re: Top 5 Best Temple Losses on the Show - Day Seven: FINAL POLL
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 10, 2013, 02:14:45 AM
The poll has been set, so you can choose 5 episodes. My 5 episodes include: Ivan the Terrible, Henry Morgan, Blue Pearl, Polynesian Girl, and Queen Boadicea.

1. Ivan the Terrible - This was a very memorable, exciting, and tragic run. Travis and Elisa were a very strong and dominant team that were robbed by a very impossible layout. They were fast, smart, and literally did nothing wrong in the temple. This is the best loss on the show and it is even better than most of the wins.

2. Henry Morgan - This one comes close to "Ivan the Terrible" in excitement factor. The only reason why it is not #1 because Shem and Ashley really should've won. But still, they reached a center of the temple artifact and the ending is very memorable. Shem and Ashley acting like they won the grand prize even though they barely grabbed this artifact makes this run more enjoyable.

3. Blue Pearl - Albert may have been slow and dumb, but Jennifer's final minute was a nail biter. Even though she should've grabbed the Blue Pearl, the ending keeps you at the edge of your seat and considering how close Jennifer was to the Blue Pearl, the ending sticks out among other fans. Plus, Jennifer following up on Albert's path was amazing.

4. Polynesian Girl - Another memorable and very exciting run. Jim and Kristen grabbed the first bottom of the central shaft artifact. Kristen may have been slow on the top floor, but it was exciting to see her haul ass on the bottom floor. Plus, the extra Kirk Fogg-ups and Kristen's silly poses make this run memorable.

5. Queen Boadicea - It was either this run or "Belle Boyd". I love "Belle Boyd" to death, but it just is not as memorable as this one. Plus, I need one run to represent my team, and Nate and Lissy are a good candidate. Their layout was long, but Nate put up a strong effort and even came close to bringing the artifact out. Another very strong team and one of the very few good Red Jaguar runs.

Runner-up runs include: Great Seal, Atahualpa, Mush Pot Hat, and Annie Oakley.

I chose Ivan the Terrible, Henry Morgan, Priceless Portrait, Blue Pearl, and Belle Boyd. I especially picked Belle Boyd because Leah and Matthew were amazing in the ultra tough layout they received. Even though they should've taken more shortcuts, they made it as far as two rooms away with the long path they had. Quite frankly, I'm just not feeling Royal Torque. It was a good run, but it's not as great as people say it is. It was a good effort, and Nate was a great player, but it's just not that memorable at all for me. Plus, Lissy moved pretty slow.
Title: Re: Top 5 Best Temple Losses on the Show - Day Seven: FINAL POLL
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 10, 2013, 03:05:51 AM
I love Belle Boyd too and feel bad for not picking it. But at the end of the day, it is not a very memorable run to me. For a long time, I always forgot that this run existed. Not so much anymore, but it never really stood out for me. Even though Leah and Matthew were an amazing team.

But yeah, Queen Boadicea at times ranks at different places on my list. I like it very much because it is a Red Jaguars run, but other than that some of the bottom of the central shaft runs were better too mainly because of Lissy. I sometimes rank Empress Eugenie in front of it because that run was just as memorable and Jay was awesome too. But I always rank Priceless Portrait in front of those two because it was very memorable and exciting. And even if Kristen was slow, the last minute or so she really picked up the pace and the ending was exciting. So Priceless Portrait > Queen Boadicea > Eugenie > Red Sash is the general consensus for me.
Title: Re: Top 5 Best Temple Losses on the Show - Day Seven: FINAL POLL

Well to be fair, Belle Boyd was almost never played on Nick Gas, and the whole episode in general is not very exciting. But still, Leah and Matthew made it two rooms away, and entered almost every single room of the temple to do so. Not many other teams (in Season 3 for that matter) can say that. As for my rankings of the bottom central shaft runs:

Priceless Portrait > Eugenie > Queen Boadicea > Red Sash

So it's kind of like your list, just Eugenie and Queen Boadicea switched around.
Title: Re: Top 5 Best Temple Losses on the Show - Day Seven: FINAL POLL

Belle Boyd never got much air time at all on Nick GaS. It took Nick GaS like a year before they aired that episode again. The whole episode is enjoyable though. But you're right, if the episode got more air time, it might actually get discussion than it got in the past. Luckily, more people recognize Belle Boyd for featuring a great team that got shafted by a brutal layout. Even though Matthew and Leah took a longer path than usual.

Actually, none of the bottom of the central shaft runs were played that much either IIRC.  I mean Queen Boadicea and Priceless Portrait were not played very much because they were like the last 20 episodes I needed to see. But it looks like our list is very similar for those temple runs. :P I didn't include Electrified Key, Golden Ship, etc. because they don't really compare to those four.
Title: Re: Top 5 Best Temple Losses on the Show - Day Seven: FINAL POLL

Yeah, Royal Torque wasn't played much on Nick Gas either. And that episode was never talked about much either in the past. It was a good episode, but it really wasn't that exciting. I mean, Lissy and Nate swept the temple games, and they almost won at the temple. But I just don't like it as much as everyone else does. It was a good team, but they aren't as "amazing" like they're made out to be.
