Title: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition
Post by: The Red Jaguars on July 30, 2013, 09:50:55 PM
I am surprised we don't have a thread for the temple wins yet! Actually, we never even really had an elimination thread for the best temple win. Probably because the list was so small. :P Same rules as the other three strike threads. Once a win reaches three strikes, it will be removed from the list. We will rank the remaining 10 wins. All the other rules apply to (One hour rule from your last post AND someone else most give a strike between that hour).

And let's have fun! May the best temple win be victorious!

Galileo's Cannonball
John Sutter and the Map to the Lost Gold Mine
The Helmet of Genghis Khan
The Star of Sultan Saladin
The Trojan Horseshoe
The Moccasins of Geronimo
The Belly Button of Buddha
The Mask of Shaka Zulu
Robin Hood and Marian's Silk Ladder
Lawrence of Arabia's Headdress
The Collar of Davy Crockett
The Snake Bracelet of Cleopatra

The Silver Horseshoe of Butch Cassidy
The Applewood Amulet of Emiliano Zapata
The Diary of Dr. Livingstone
The Lucky Medallion of Atocha
The Lucky Pillow of Annie Taylor
The Very Tall Turban of Ahmed Baba
The Snakeskin Boots of Billy the Kid
The Levitating Dog Leash of Nostradamus
The Milk Bucket of Freydis

The Ivory Hunting Horn of Roland
The Jewel-Encrusted Egg of Catherine the Great
The Jeweled Scabbard of Sforza
The Lion-Headed Bracelet of Chandragupta
The Lost Hornpipe of the Pirate Captain
The Metal Beard of the Egyptian Queen
The Much-Heralded Helmet of Sir Gawain

Strike #1 for       . It was the easiest win on the show and the team still finished with less than 30 seconds on the clock. Jeremy was a terrible second runner and his victory dance at the end was pointless since he only pressed two actuators. This win really needs to go first.

Yeah, Strike 2 for Robin Hood and Marian's Ladder. Could've been an easy Purple Parrots win. :(

Strike one for the Mask of Shaka Zulu. The only reason why this is a win is because of that production error. If that never happened, chances are likely they would have ran out of time before reaching the thing.

Strike one for The Mocassins of Geronimo.  I might be alone on this, but I think this one should go before Shaka Zulu.

Strike 2 for Shaka Zulu. It was interesting that Bobby entered and exited the temple in the same amount of time, but the faulty door to the Tomb of the Ancient Kings contributed greatly to the team's success.

Goodbye to the best win according to Youtube! (Strike #3 Shaka Zulu)

Strike 1 for Butch Cassidy. Paula did nothing wrong. However, her layout was too generous and she got kind of lucky.

Strike 2 for Geronimo. It was either that or Butch Cassidy, but I think Geronimo should go next.

I hate Geronimo more than Butch Cassidy, so I will get rid of it first. Just because this one gets more praise. But really, they both deserve to be gone. Strike #3 for Geronimo.

Strike 3 for Butch Cassidy. Another overrated, over praised win.

I think that was actually the second strike for Butch Cassidy. But don't worry, I will be glad to pull the plug on Butch Cassidy. ;)  :mrorange:

Bye Butch Cassidy!  :mrorange:  :mrorange:  :mrorange:  :mrorange:  :mrorange:

Strike 1 for Emiliano Zapata. I may be alone on this, but I find that this team got lucky in more ways than one. Olivia-Emma passed up an easy-to-spot half pendant, but was not forced to need it. Unlike so many other top corner room runs, they were not forced to detour into the Mineshaft; instead, they had a five-room, straight-lined path leading directly across the bottom floor. Even though that series of rooms were some of the most difficult of the layout, I don't think Robert and Olivia-Emma should have been left with a mere second left on the clock.

Emiliano Zapata should at least be in the top 20

Strike 1 for Dr. Livingstone (some people forget it's a win)

Strike 1 for Davy Crockett. Easy layout. Should've had more than 5 seconds left.

Strike 2 for Davy Crockett. This win almost didn't happen thanks to Adam.
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition

Davy Crockett is the next one to go! This win was almost as easy as "         ", and the team still barely won. This was mostly thanks to Adam who was very slow.

Strike 1 for genghis khan
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition

Strike 2 for Roland.
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition
Post by: The Red Jaguars on July 31, 2013, 01:31:27 PM
And Roland is gone from the list! This was like the Silk Ladder run of S3 and Yakerra really could've had the fastest win if she didn't hesitate in a couple of places.

Strike 1 for Buddha. I know some people rag on PP4L for not liking Applewood Amulet and I feel the same treatment towards this run. I have my reasons for not liking this run as much as others. Jennifer moved a little slow and took way too much time in the Treasure Room of all places. She should've won with more time on the clock.
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on July 31, 2013, 10:35:55 PM
Strike 2 for Buddha. Jennifer was just an average player. She wasn't amazing, she was just okay.

Strike 3 for Buddha.

Strike #1 for Snake Bracelet. This team should've finished with over a minute left if Tracy didn't stall so much. Not a bad win, but some of the others were better.
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition
Post by: PurpleParrot319 on August 01, 2013, 01:19:55 AM
Strike 2 for Cleopatra. This win almost didn't happen because of Tracy. She broke the Observatory-Golden Orbs door too.

Strike 1 for Sforza. Going through the entire central column in season 3 was never an easy task, but that's basically all this team had to do in this run. Can you imagine Jessica and Jarrid having this layout? They could've won in record time if they were in this run.
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition
Post by: The Red Jaguars on August 01, 2013, 10:44:40 AM
Good choice, because I was going to vote for Sforza next. :P It was a good win and everything, but pretty simple compared to the other temple layouts of S3. Lacey and Asher were pretty good, but I do wonder if they are overrated sometimes...
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition
Post by: PurpleParrot319 on August 01, 2013, 10:58:42 AM
And the Jeweled Scabbard is once again thrown into the crowd. Strike 3!
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition
Post by: The Red Jaguars on August 01, 2013, 12:42:07 PM
Strike #1 for Benzibab. Just like Sforza, the temple layout was too generous. Kevin and Annie were a good team, but they wouldn't have finished with all that time if they had an Imperial Wizard or Taj Mahal Turban layout.
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition
Post by: PurpleParrot319 on August 01, 2013, 12:55:31 PM
Strike 2 for Benzibab. Another generous layout.

Strike 3 for Benzibab.
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition

While Joel was a good contestant, he made two mistakes during his temple run that would've been deadly if he didn't have so much time on the clock. Plus, he could've beaten the Shaka Zulu record easily. Strike #1 for Iron Nose Ring.
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition
Post by: PurpleParrot319 on August 01, 2013, 04:15:04 PM
Strike 2 for Iron Nose Ring. Joel should've made this the fastest win ever.
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition
Post by: PurpleParrot4Life on August 01, 2013, 05:22:47 PM
Strike 1 for the Very Tall Turban of Ahmed Baba. Shane was a good contestant, but he was lucky to not get caught by a second guard on his long path. And speaking of Shane, how about the commentary for this run: "Go Shane! You can do it, Shane! Shane, Shane, Shane!"
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition
Post by: PurpleParrot319 on August 01, 2013, 05:37:47 PM
Strike 3 for Iron Nose Ring.
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on August 01, 2013, 09:30:03 PM
Strike 2 for Very Tall Turban. I personally find Shane overrated, and he only won because he got lucky.
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition
Post by: PurpleParrot319 on August 01, 2013, 09:52:52 PM
Strike 1 for The Trojan Horseshoe. It was an average win. Nothing spectacular.
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition
Post by: The Red Jaguars on August 02, 2013, 12:36:07 AM
Strike #3 for Ahmed Baba. It was a good win and it was nice to see someone win after completing all those objectives, but any average contestant would've won given Shane's temple guard layout.
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition
Post by: PurpleParrot319 on August 02, 2013, 11:00:49 AM
Strike 2 for The Trojan Horseshoe. I really wanted Ahmed Baba to finish ahead of this win. :?

17 wins remain. I know this might not be a popular decision, but strike 2 for Applewood Amulet. I don't think it's quite a top 10 win, plus most of what's left is better. Not to mention, the path was straight forward. No zigging, no zagging, just a straight path with 6 rooms entered. The rooms this Green Monkeys team entered weren't all easy, but it could've been longer with an extra room or two.

Galileo's Cannonball
John Sutter and the Map to the Lost Gold Mine
The Star of Sultan Saladin

Man, this is hard.

Strike 1 for Sultan Saladin. It was a great run, and Lea was a great player, but it's not as great as what's left.
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition
Post by: PurpleParrot319 on August 02, 2013, 09:00:31 PM
You know what? Looking back at that list, I think Galileo's Cannonball should go before Applewood Amulet. I think the latter run is a better last second win. Strike 1 for Galileo.
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition
Post by: Legend of Legends on August 02, 2013, 09:01:50 PM
Strike 2 for Galileo.
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition
Post by: PurpleParrot4Life on August 02, 2013, 09:06:16 PM
I'm sorry to disappoint most of you, but I'm going to give Applewood Amulet its third strike. They were given a completely linear path with only 5 objectives to complete. On top of that, the missed half pendant could have been detrimental to the run. Olivia-Emma also went into the Observatory and back down into Medusa's Lair before going into the Pit when she exited the temple. That decision nearly cost this team their win.
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition
Post by: PurpleParrot319 on August 02, 2013, 11:13:13 PM
It's not that disappointing, PP4L. I gave it a strike too. ;)

Time to make pizza with Galileo's Cannonball. Strike 3 for it. :P
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition
Post by: The Red Jaguars on August 03, 2013, 12:43:19 AM
Strike #2 for Sultan Saladin. Lea was an awesome contestant and I thought her solo win was very exciting, but compared to what's left, it wasn't exactly the strongest. I give her credit for getting the first ever solo win, but this win won't make the top 10 either way.
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition
Post by: PurpleParrot4Life on August 03, 2013, 09:35:33 AM
This may not be a popular decision, but I'm going to give a strike to the Secret Map of the Bandit Queen. Miriam stalled in the Jesters' Court and left Zac with about 1:15 on the clock. He was incredibly fast, but his only true "objective" was the Secret Password, which was not a terribly difficult room for S3. After that, he just ran some more. I believe the other teams' efforts were stronger as a whole.
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition
Post by: PurpleParrot319 on August 03, 2013, 10:26:10 AM
Snakeskin Boots should go before Bandit Queen and Sultan Saladin. Strike 1 for it. I really appreciate this win due to it being the first ever Purple Parrot win, but Kelly moved at an average pace, Tony almost blew it with his exit plan, and the layout was fairly easy. This win almost didn't happen thanks to Tony, but I still like this win. I just think the other wins were better.
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition

Strike 2 for Snakeskin Boots.
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition
Post by: The Red Jaguars on August 03, 2013, 11:49:01 AM
Strike #3 for Billy the Kid. While it was nice to see the Purple Parrots win, their other two wins (Egyptian Queen and Freydis) were better and Tony almost blew it at the end like mentioned above.
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition
Post by: PurpleParrot319 on August 03, 2013, 12:20:28 PM
Strike 1 for Sir Gawain. This was a nice solo win, but Tiffani wasn't all that fast and she avoided a possible temple guard hiding in the door in the Chamber of the Sacred Markers. She did a great job bringing that huge helmet out though.
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition
Post by: PurpleParrot4Life on August 03, 2013, 12:37:56 PM
Strike 2 for the Bandit Queen.
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition
Post by: The Red Jaguars on August 03, 2013, 03:23:01 PM
I always thought Bandit Queen was overrated. Miriam really drags this win down a lot. It was fun for Zac's speed, but at the end of the day, he only had to complete one objective. Strike #3 for this run.
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition
Post by: Legend of Legends on August 03, 2013, 03:25:37 PM
Strike 2 for Sir Gawain.
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition

Strike 1 for John Sutter. The team did well, but the only parts of this run that I can truly recall off the top of my head are Jennifer actually completing the Golden Idols and her slipping at the temple gate.

I think this is now the current list:

John Sutter and the Map to the Lost Gold Mine (1)
The Star of Sultan Saladin (2)
Lawrence of Arabia's Headdress

The Lucky Medallion of Atocha
The Lucky Pillow of Annie Taylor
The Levitating Dog Leash of Nostradamus
The Milk Bucket of Freydis

The Jewel-Encrusted Egg of Catherine the Great
The Lion-Headed Bracelet of Chandragupta
The Lost Hornpipe of the Pirate Captain
The Metal Beard of the Egyptian Queen
The Much-Heralded Helmet of Sir Gawain (2)
The Mussel-Shell Armor of Apanuugpak
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition

Strike 3 for Sir Gawain.

Strike #1 for Chandragupta. It was a good win and Andrea was a solid contestant, but it is the most forgettable win on the list left.
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition
Post by: PurpleParrot319 on August 03, 2013, 05:08:34 PM
Strike 2 for Chandragupta. Solid win, but I think the others are better and more memorable.

Strike 3 for Chandragupta.

Sultan Saladin has been at 2 strikes for a long time now. Strike 3 for it. 11th place is a good spot for this run.

Strike #1 for Egyptian Queen. A very exciting and underrated temple win, but this almost didn't happen thanks to Randy. Plus, the other wins were slightly better. I think this one should kick off the top 10.

John Sutter and the Map to the Lost Gold Mine (1)
Lawrence of Arabia's Headdress

The Lucky Medallion of Atocha
The Lucky Pillow of Annie Taylor
The Levitating Dog Leash of Nostradamus
The Milk Bucket of Freydis

The Jewel-Encrusted Egg of Catherine the Great

The Metal Beard of the Egyptian Queen (1)
The Mussel-Shell Armor of Apanuugpak

I'm going to go ahead and give John Sutter strike 3. While I find it top 10 material, I just don't think it's the best run ever. The other wins are more memorable.
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition
Post by: The Red Jaguars on August 03, 2013, 11:17:36 PM
Strike #1 for Nostradamus. It was a good team win and I like the Orange Iguanas enthusiasm and Jason's use of the Dog Leash in the pit, but I think it is time for this win to go.
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition
Post by: PurpleParrot4Life on August 03, 2013, 11:39:54 PM
I completely agree with your assessment of Nostradamus. I'll give it its second strike.
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition
Post by: PurpleParrot319 on August 03, 2013, 11:43:52 PM
Strike 3 for Nostradamus. I like this win a lot, but the others are better.
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition
Post by: The Red Jaguars on August 04, 2013, 12:26:04 AM
This is so hard now. :(

I think it is time for Atocha to go now. It was a very exciting solo win and one of the Orange Iguanas best, but Ty did get a lucky break after the pendant drop. He was a great contestant though, but this is a good stopping point for his run.

#8: "The Levitating Dog Leash of Nostradamus"
#9: "John Sutter and the Map to the Lost Gold Mine"
#10: "The Metal Beard of the Egyptian Queen"

Lawrence of Arabia's Headdress

The Lucky Medallion of Atocha (1)
The Lucky Pillow of Annie Taylor
The Milk Bucket of Freydis

The Jewel-Encrusted Egg of Catherine the Great
The Lost Hornpipe of the Pirate Captain
The Mussel-Shell Armor of Apanuugpak
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition
Post by: PurpleParrot4Life on August 04, 2013, 10:36:54 AM
Strike 1 for Lost Hornpipe of the Pirate Captain. Jessica and Jarrid were a very strong and fast team, but Jarrid unnecessarily entered the Secret Password, which could have ended their run if the third guard was there. Even though the team had no control over it, the door from the Pit to the King's Storeroom opened but remained stuck shut. That means that this run could have been shortened down to completing five objectives, and it could have been a solo run.
Title: Re: Legends Temple Win - Three Strike Edition
Post by: PurpleParrot319 on August 04, 2013, 11:00:45 AM
Strike 1 for Catherine the Great. It was great to see this show end on a winning note with this run, but this team didn't have to complete that many rooms. This was a good team, but to me, the other wins were better.

Strike #2 for Catherine the Great. I love this team win too, but you are right about the temple layout. It was just one more extra room than Roland when we get down to it.

Strike 2 for Nostradamus.

Nostradamus already received three strikes.

Strike 3 for Catherine the Great. Great win (see what I did there? :P), but others are better.

Strike 2 for Nostradamus.

Nostradamus already received three strikes.
Oops. My mistake.

Well then, strike 2 to Atocha.

Atocha will take spot #6. A very exciting solo win and I think this is a perfect spot for it.  :mrorange:

Strike 2 for the Lost Hornpipe of the Pirate Captain. This run could have ended early, but they got lucky that the Secret Password did not hold the third guard. I guess the sticky King's Storeroom door was enough bad luck for this team. Either way, I think position #5 would be a very fitting spot for this run.

I remember I used to hold that mistake against Jarrid and this run for a long time. I eventually got over it and I think it's a great win now. However, I don't mind seeing Lost Hornpipe finishing 5th. Strike 3 for it.

Strike 1 for Freydis. It's just so hard now.

Strike 2 for Freydis. This is my favorite Purple Parrot win and I love it a lot. Tarrah was so resilient and triumphant and that's why I love it so much. However, in terms of the best win, Freydis just doesn't stack up against the other three wins. It's a great win, but now is the time for it to go.

I am going to give a strike to Lawrence of Arabia's Headdress. It took Candice 30 seconds to get out of the Cave of Sighs, and she could have skipped the Room of the Fallen Columns and avoided the guard in that room. David also went into the Room of the Fallen Columns, which ate up a few extra seconds. However, he was smart to go straight down into the Tomb of Ancient Kings, and his decision to climb up the wall in the Wheel Room allowed him to get out of the temple in time. Overall, this is a great win, but I think that there were a few aspects of this run that could have been better.

#5: "The Lost Hornpipe of the Pirate Captain"
#6: "The Lucky Medallion of Atocha"
#7: "Jewel-Encrusted Egg of Catherine the Great"
#8: "The Levitating Dog Leash of Nostradamus"
#9: "John Sutter and the Map to the Lost Gold Mine"
#10: "The Metal Beard of the Egyptian Queen"

Lawrence of Arabia's Headdress (1)
The Lucky Pillow of Annie Taylor
The Milk Bucket of Freydis (2)
The Mussel-Shell Armor of Apanuugpak

Gotta agree with PP4L on this one. Strike two for Lawrence.

Heart vs reason. In this round reason wins, and with nothing to add to PP4L, strike 3 for Lawrence

Strike #3 for Freydis. A very exciting solo win and Tarrah was a very strong player. However, the final two wins were just a hair better.

That just leaves Mussel-Shell Armor and Annie Taylor left.  ;)

We are now down to the only "Center of the Rooms" victories. This is a very hard decision.

Missy was a fun contestant to watch throughout her episode, and came from behind to gain entry to the temple. She had the first victory from the Center of the Rooms, and it was a solo victory to boot. She tried the door leading directly to Medusa's Lair from the Pit, but who can blame her (especially if there was a door malfunction and it opened)? She also took the shortcut leading directly from the Dark Forest to the Shrine. If she had chosen to plow through the wall instead, chances are good that she would have been removed from the temple by a second guard. Missy's excitement at the end of the run "ties a neat little bow" on the episode.

Amanda and Gator were strong throughout their episode, winning 2 pendants in their temple games. They faced a pretty difficult journey to the Chamber of the Sacred Markers, entering eight rooms en route to the Mussel Shell Armor. Amanda moved at a steady pace and was removed in the Dark Forest. Gator followed up on her path very well, found that there wasn't a key in the Dark Forest, went into the Quicksand Bog, then went to the top floor. His encounter with the guard in the Shrine was quite memorable. He escaped from the temple with 10 seconds left on the clock.

I think that Mussel Shell Armor is the stronger of the two runs. The team showed that they were strong throughout their whole episode and entered more rooms (and more difficult rooms) in the temple, but exited the temple only 10 seconds later than Missy. That included having Gator follow up on Amanda's path. I enjoy both runs, but from an analytic standpoint, I must give Lucky Pillow of Annie Taylor a strike.

Agreed with PP4L. Strike 2 for Lucky Pillow. I love both runs, but in terms of strength, Mussel-Shell Armor is a stronger win. Amanda was okay, but Gator was outstanding.

Strike 1 for Mussel-shell armor. Tough choice, but Annie Taylor is my favorite episode.

Surprised that this happened faster than I thought :o. Anyway, I guess I'll give Annie Taylor Strike 3.

Well, this list was surprising. But I actually agree with it for the most part, especially the top 5. Honestly, all of those wins belong in the top 10 pretty much. I would've had "Annie Taylor" win the whole thing though, but Mussel-Shell Armor is good too.   Here is the final rankings:

#1: "The Mussel-Shell Armor of Apanuugpak"
#2: "The Lucky Pillow of Annie Taylor"
#3: "The Milk Bucket of Freydis"
#4: "Lawrence of Arabia's Headdress"
#5: "The Lost Hornpipe of the Pirate Captain"
#6: "The Lucky Medallion of Atocha"
#7: "Jewel-Encrusted Egg of Catherine the Great"
#8: "The Levitating Dog Leash of Nostradamus"
#9: "John Sutter and the Map to the Lost Gold Mine"
#10: "The Metal Beard of the Egyptian Queen"

Can't believe I forgot to rank this. :o

1. Mussel-Shell Armor of Apanuugpak (perfect!)
2. Lucky Pillow of Annie Taylor (one lower, 3rd)
3. Milk Bucket of Freydis (two lower, 5th)
4. Lawrence of Arabia’s Headdress (two higher, 2nd)
5. Lost Hornpipe of the Pirate Captain (one higher, 4th)
6. Lucky Medallion of Atocha (good)
7. Jewel-Encrusted Egg of Catherine the Great (put Bandit Queen here and push everything between it and this win one spot lower)
8. Levitating Dog Leash of Nostradamus (one lower)
9. John Sutter and the Map to the Lost Gold Mine (one lower)
10. Metal Beard of the Egyptian Queen (one lower thanks to Bandit Queen; I'd probably swap this with Sultan Saladin, which in that case 11th for Saladin is good)
