Title: Three Runs that define a team Day 7: Final Round
Post by: GreenMonkeys#1 on June 20, 2013, 04:15:00 PM
What runs really define a team and Legends in general? Let's find out:

Day 1: Red Jaguars: The Ivory Hunting Horn of Roland, The Royal Torque of Queen Boadicea, The Jewel Encrusted Egg of Catherine the Great
Day 2: Blue Barracudas: John Sutter & the Map to the Lost Gold Mine, The Belly Button of Buddha, The Lucky Pillow of Annie Taylor
Day 3: Green Monkeys: Lawrence of Arabia's Headdress, The Lost Hornpipe of the Pirate Captain, The Mussel Shell Armor of Apanuugpak
Day 4: Orange Iguanas: The Lucky Medallion of Atocha, The Levitating Dog Leash of Nostradamus, The Much Heralded Helmet of Sir Gawain
Day 5: Purple Parrots: The Snakeskin Boots of Billy the Kid, The Milk Bucket of Freydis, The Metal Beard of the Egyptian Queen
Day 6: Silver Snakes: Galileo's Cannonball, The Star of Sultan Saladin, The Secret Map of the Bandit Queen

I picked Jewel Encrusted Egg, Roland, and Napoleon. The former two I picked because the team actually won, even though I find Roland seriously overrated. Napoleon I picked because it was actually a halfway decent run despite losing. I hope I did this right, if "what team made the Red Jaguars look good" was what you were going for.

Also, do you mind if I move this to the Chamber of the Sacred Markers? If you don't want me to, I'll keep it in the Heart Room. ;)

We pick three runs that basically describe the Red Jaguars throughout the series

I chose Jewel Encrusted Egg, Roland, & Royal Torque. Jewel Encrusted Egg was the Red Jaguars best run and was a great way to end a series. Ivory Hunting Horn is kinda overrated, just like the Red Jaguars themselves. Royal Torque was selected because it was a great run but even some runs have players that can cost them (in this case, Lissy).

And I really don't mind where this goes, either here or the Chamber. ;)

I picked - Genghis Khan, Queen Boadicea, and Catherine the Great.

Genghis Khan - The Red Jaguars had many bad appearances in S1, but this was their only respectable S1 appearance. And while the win was simple, it was still earned and the ending was memorable at least.

Boadicea - Most of the Red Jaguar losses are pitiful and bad, but this team put up a good effort. Lissy and Nate came very close to grabbing a bottom of the central shaft artifact. This might've been the Jaguars best win if they actually won. Still a very exciting loss though and my second favorite Red Jaguar episode in the series.

Catherine the Great - This one is obvious. If this run does not make the Red Jaguar list, then I would want to question the individual who didn't include it. I am proud of Kris and Kristen closing out the show in memorable fashion.  :mrred:

Some honorable mentions are Napoleon and Roland. Roland was definitely better than "Shaka Zulu" and should be the fastest win in my eyes. But as mention, Yakerra is overrated and she was kind of lucky that she won. "Two-Cornered Hat" deserves a mention too, but Queen Boadicea was more exciting and a better effort.  :mrred:

So the runs that define the Red Jaguars are Jewel Encrusted Egg, Royal Torque, and a tie between Napoleon, Genghis Khan, & Roland

Tiebreaker coming up, you can only vote once for those above ;)

I'm keeping my vote for Roland. I think Yakerra is a little overrated but Genghis Khan was too easy, and Napoleon had a blown chance at a win.
Title: Re: Three Runs that define a team Day 1: Red Jaguars
Post by: The Red Jaguars on June 21, 2013, 02:39:05 PM
I am keeping my vote with Genghis Khan. On account that it was the Red Jaguars very first win and their only good temple appearance in S1. It was pretty memorable to me also. Although if this one doesn't win, I hope Two-Cornered Hat does.

I voted for the Two-Cornered Hat. I thought it was more exciting to watch than the other two were.

I voted for Roland. As overrated as Yakerra was, it was the quickest win sans production error. Plus, it's much better than most Red Jaguar runs.

The vote is literally tied again.  :P Maybe there is a better way to determine that last run?

What are the odds

I typed the three episodes into RNG 10 times this is what I got

Roland, Genghis Khan, Roland, Napoleon, Roland, Genghis Khan, Roland, Genghis Khan, Napoleon, Roland.
Roland will advance

Blue Barracudas are next ;) :mrblue:

To avoid bias, I'd use the Random Number Generator. That way it's more fair.

My three votes went for Catherine the Great, Queen Boadicea, and Genghis Khan.

For the Barracudas, I did Lucky Pillow, John Sutter, & Buddha

Lucky Pillow: A fan favorite here due to Missy getting a Center of the Room artifact solo and getting the first win in that space. Bonus points for the "Tiebreaker Touch" :mrblue:
John Sutter: I really like this run and the fact that Jennifer was the only person to do the Golden Idols, only to discover how lame it was. Bonus points for the slip  :mrblue:.
Buddha: The two above were obvious choices, this was just a throw in. Jennifer did have some hesitation in the Temple. She even went the wrong way and got lost in the Treasure Room . But she did recover to get the artifact and then escape for a solo victory  :mrblue:.

John Sutter and Annie Taylor were obvious choices. The third one was tough. I went with Tokugawa Ieyasu for my third pick because I thought that BB team was fun to watch all the way through despite not winning. They were a strong team that got stuck with a fairly difficult temple layout.

John Sutter, Buddha, and Annie Taylor. I know Buddha seems like a random choice, but they did win and it did define them sort of.

I'll always choose Buddha over Dr. Livingston and for sure Geronimo
Title: Re: Three Runs that define a team Day 2: Blue Barracudas
Post by: The Red Jaguars on June 22, 2013, 06:09:44 PM
I chose Annie Taylor, Map to the Lost Gold Mine, and Buddha for my choices.

Annie Taylor - This episode is a classic and is my all time favorite Legends episodes. Definitely one of the most memorable Legends episodes in the whole series from the boob grab to the amazing temple run. The ending was very enjoyable too and Missy's emotions added to this run.

Map to the Lost Gold Mine - I never understood why people always pick on this run and "Annie Taylor". I always thought it was fun and impressive! And for a S1 temple run, Kirk was very enthusiastic too. This run was filled with a smart Blue Barracuda team with a good plan, Kirk Fogg-ups galore, and a fun temple ending. I don't ever want to see this compared to Shaka Zulu.

Buddha - It was either this one or "Red Sash". I went with this one because I thought Jennifer did a good job despite her slow speed. If she moved as fast as she exited the temple, then this would've been a much better win. But she wasn't a bad contestant though, just slow.

"Dr. Livingstone" would've been another choice too, but it was boring and so forgettable. I don't even remember it exists half of the time. No way would I ever choose "Geronimo" though. I would even pick Hans Holbein or Mummified Hand before I ever pick that one.

Hooray, no tiebreaker :afro:. We sent John Sutter, Buddha, & Annie Taylor to the Finals :mrblue:

The Green Monkeys (the best team :P) are next ;)
Title: Re: Three Runs that define a team Day 3: Green Monkeys
Post by: GreenMonkeys#1 on June 23, 2013, 10:42:07 PM
My choices are Lawrence of Arabia's Headdress, Mussel Shell Armor, & Lost Hornpipe

Lawrence of Arabia's Headdress: My favorite episode , this was obviously the best run of the first season .
Mussel Shell Armor: The Best run of all time due to Gator
Lost Hornpipe: Even Kirk said this was one of the best teams
Title: Re: Three Runs that define a team Day 3: Green Monkeys
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on June 23, 2013, 10:45:09 PM
I voted for Lawrence of Arabia, Applewood Amulet, and Apanuugpak. The former two because it came down to the last seconds of the run, and Apanuugpak because of Gator. Lost Hornpipe is a close contender, since Jessica and Jarrid were amazing. But I just thought the aforementioned three I voted for defined the Green Monkeys more.
Title: Re: Three Runs that define a team Day 3: Green Monkeys
Post by: The Red Jaguars on June 23, 2013, 11:14:39 PM
This is a very tough decision, but I chose the 3 that were the most exciting: Lawrence of Arabia, Emiliano Zapata, and Pirate Captain.

Lawrence of Arabia: Very exciting run that came down to literally the last second. David was an awesome contestant and he handled the temple just fine. His Silver Monkey assembly was badass, as was his temple exit. I can't believe people actually called him average before. My most favorite Green Monkeys win.

Emiliano Zapata: Another classic one second win. It was very exciting and even though the team didn't have to face a tough layout, Olivia-Emma did a superb job getting that artifact back to the temple gates. Maybe Jason and Kimberly should take notes?

Pirate Captain: It was either this one or Mussel-Shell Armor. I chose this one though because Jessica and Jarrid owned it all. They made the central shaft look like there was nothing to it and the ending was exciting and hilarious for Jarrid dancing with the Lost Hornpipe.

Too bad we could only pick 3, as I would pick Mussel-Shell Armor, Chandragupta, and Ivan the Terrible also. The only reason I didn't pick Apanuugpak though was because I thought Amanda was only average whereas Jessica and Jarrid both kicked ass in the "Pirate Captain" run.
Title: Re: Three Runs that define a team Day 3: Green Monkeys
Post by: PurpleParrot4Life on June 24, 2013, 12:45:38 AM
Discarded Seal of Ivan the Terrible is missing from the Green Monkeys list. In my opinion, they should definitely be on the list of Green Monkey teams to define what a strong, dominant force that team was. They may not have taken first place in the early rounds of the show, but Travis and Elisa were an unstoppable duo in the second half of their episode. They even nearly overcame an impossible temple layout.

My other two choices are Mussel-Shell Armor of Apanuugpak and Lost Hornpipe of the Pirate Captain.

On second thought, I'll change my vote to Pirate Captain. Everyone else is voting for it, so I should too.

Well, the Green Monkeys have a lot of awesome runs and teams. If I could, I would vote for Ivan the Terrible, Mussel-Shell Armor, and Chandragupta with my above votes. They have too many good episodes and teams.

I'll tell you how Discarded Seal and some others didn't show up. After I put the 24 choices for the Green Monkeys, it deleted Mystical Spellbook, Golden Spider Web, Discarded Seal, & Dried Apple Half.  :?

The three vote leaders were Mussel-Shell Armor, Pirate Captain, and Lawrence of Arabia. I replaced my votes though just in case any of the results changed. ;)

Even though the Green Monkeys had quite a few great runs, this one is still obvious to me. Lawrence of Arabia, Pirate Captain, and Apanuugpak.

Lawrence of Arabia's Headdress, Mussel Shell Armor, and Lost Hornpipe advance

Orange Iguanas next ;) :mrorange:
Title: Re: Three Runs that define a team Day 3: Green Monkeys
Post by: The Red Jaguars on June 25, 2013, 01:31:37 PM
This one is pretty obvious for me - Lucky Medallion, Nostradamus, and Sir Gawain.  :mrorange:

Lucky Medallion - Ty was a beast in the temple. I never understood why people gave him a hard time for the pendant drop or direct path. He was very smart and owned the temple. Very memorable win and my most favorite Iguana room.  :mrorange:

Nostradamus - Another good Orange Iguana team and is also one my most favorite wins on the show. Elizabeth and Jason were a msart team. And Jason was pretty clever to use the Leash at the end to reach the rope in the Pit.  :mrorange:

Sir Gawain - Tiffani is kind of overrated, but she did many things right in the temple. She was one of the very few contestants to make it back to the platform in the Pit and she used the Shrine-Dark Forest shortcut. And you can't blame her awkward exit plan with the Helmet either. She handled her layout just fine and her win was pretty exciting too.  :mrorange:

Yeah, I went with their only 3 wins too (Billy the Kid, Milk Bucket, and Egyptian Queen). They were definitely exciting and strong wins, even Billy the Kid. If the team in "Annie Oakley" won in the temple though, it would probably replace the "Billy the Kid" win. But their 3 wins were definitely the highlights for this team.

Darn, I missed Purple. :( If you're still counting votes, count me in for Snakeskin Boots, Freydis, and Metal Beard as well. As for the Silver Snakes, count me in for Galileo, Benzibab, and Bandit Queen.
Title: Re: Three Runs that define a team Day 6: Silver Snakes
Post by: PurpleParrot319 on June 27, 2013, 10:56:04 AM
I'm surprised there's no love for Sultan Saladin yet. :o

My votes went for Sultan Saladin, Bandit Queen, and Henry Morgan. To me, the first two are obvious. Then there's Henry Morgan. Just like with Tokugawa Ieyasu, even though it wasn't a win, I still think this team was way better than some of the winning teams for the Silver Snakes. It's not always about winning as long as you show a ton of competence in the temple. I feel these three runs are great examples of that, thus the reason why I picked them.
Title: Re: Three Runs that define a team Day 6: Silver Snakes
Post by: The Red Jaguars on June 27, 2013, 12:00:05 PM
I went with Galileo's Cannonball, Sultan Saladin, and Bandit Queen. I love Sultan Saladin and Lea was awesome.  :mrsilver: She was fast and was always trying for a shortcut. Aside from the direct path at the beginning, I can't really find any flaws in her run.

Galileo's Cannonball was an obvious choice for me too. It was a very memorable run and the ending was pretty exciting. Jammin John was awesome and the last second finish was exciting.

Bandit Queen was the other obvious choice. While I don't share the immense love that this run seems to get, it was still exciting for Zac's domination. Miriam almost ruined this run though when she went into Karisa mode. Other than that, it was a good win that is a little overrated.

Benzibab is another good choice, but the temple layout was too generous for Kevin and Annie. They were good players and finishing with over a minute left was no fluke, but if they were any other production day, they would've had a tougher path to the Secret Password. I would like to see them handle an Imperial Wizard layout?

Annie Taylor, Apanuugpak, and Lawrence of Arabia for me. Even though I'm sort of late to the game. :P
