Title: Rate the Legends Room - Day 43 Jester's Court
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 01, 2012, 03:22:58 PM
So I stole this idea from another forum. Everyday, I will make a poll for a temple room that appeared throughout the series, and you have the option of voting 1-10 in the poll above. To save room on this forum, I will use only this topic to hold the series.

So every day in the original post, I will have a temple room that you can vote for with a new poll. You can place a vote on scale of 1 (bad) - 10 (good). You can vote for a room on any basis: appearance, difficulty, objective, memorableness, etc. The poll will expire after 24 hours, and once that is done, the poll will be averaged and the average score will be posted.

I am going to give the Heart Room a score of a 1. This is by far one of the lamest and most uninspiring rooms of the temple. I can't think of anything redeemable about this room. It was literally an empty room. It also amuses me when contestants got lost in this room as if the objective wasn't already simple enough. The fact that they kept this for almost all of season one is even more laughable. Easily one of the worst rooms on the show.

The Heart Room is hands down worst room ever.

Yeah I say either this room or Dungeon is the worst room.

Also tomorrow will be the Crypt. ;)

I'll give it a 2. While I do sort of like the wallpaper they used, it was just a lame, uninspiring room. I mean, notice how this room is almost never mentioned during Olmec's temple rundown for Season 1? That should say something right there.

TRJ, are you using a random generator for this topic? Just curious.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 1: Heart Room
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 01, 2012, 05:18:01 PM
Well, I am mostly picking the rooms out myself. I am going by room space and just picking a room. Since I have done a center of the temple room (Heart Room), I probably won't do another one again until I do one room from every other room space. Just to try and mix it up and everything. I know, Heart Room is a sucky choice to start this topic off with. :P

I never noticed this. Olmec mentioned the Room of Fallen Columns at least. But he never really mentions the Heart Room.  :o

I always thought it was lame to bring it back for one lousy layout in season two. Why not just use the Room of Fallen Columns again?
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 1: Heart Room

I still think that they only used the Heart Room in S2 L1 because the props for Medusa's Lair weren't ready (note that the room in that space was the only change between S2 L1 and S2 L2, and that S2 L1 was only used for one filming day).

I also have the same theory regarding S2 L4 and S2 L5, though involving the prop for The Room of the Mandarin Hand. This one is backed up by the fact that in the intro for the S2 L5 episodes, the Mandarin Hand is missing!

I gave it a 2 because it was just plain boring. It did have a kinda cool wallpaper and cool blue lights, but it doesn't deserve higher than a 2.

I am going to cut the Heart Room's poll a little short now and will post the results in the first post. I am also going to set up the poll for the Crypt in the first post in a minute. So hang tight for five minutes.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 2: Crypt
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 02, 2012, 12:07:01 PM
Okay, the poll for the Crypt is set up in the first post now. I also posted the score for the Heart Room too. But the new poll now is for the Crypt, so please vote. ;)

Anyways, I am going to give the Crypt a score of a 7. It was definitely the most memorable entrance room on the show IMO. It was definitely a nice tune-up from the Gargoyle and Royal Gongs. Pulling a book from the skeleton was more of an effort than pushing a tongue that was basically an actuator. I also like the scenery in the room too. And the fog used in season three made it more eerie and added to the atmosphere of the room. Also, we can't forget the classic "Let go!" line. Overall, this was one of my favorite rooms on the show and I honestly wouldn't have mind if it came back for another season.

Yeah, I give it a 7 as well, for the same reasons.

Crypt gets a 6 from me. It was the best entrance room, but nothing hard about it. Cool room though.

Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 03, 2012, 03:50:25 PM
So, the Crypt finishes with a ranking of 6.17. I am going to include the rankings in the original post like usual and remove the poll for the Crypt.

Next up is the Quicksand Bog. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 3: Quicksand Bog/Pharaoh's Secret Passage
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 03, 2012, 03:58:17 PM
For this one, I included the Quicksand Bog and Secret Passage as one entity. So vote based on both of those elements.

Regardless, I gave the Quicksand Bog a 5. I never really understood all the love for this room. To be honest, all of the rooms in this room space were pretty lame. I did like the environment in the room with mirkiness and making it hard for the contestant to walk through. But the slide was pretty lame and the room wasn't really much different than the Mine Shaft or Well except it was harder to navigate in. I always wonder how some contestants like Zac and Kevin were able to walk up the slide like it was no problem. :o
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 3: Quicksand Bog/Pharaoh's Secret Passage
Post by: PurpleParrot4Life on December 03, 2012, 04:00:59 PM
Although the room was not particularly difficult, the Quicksand Bog was the best use of that space, in my opinion. If the path forced a team up the slide, the contestants were able to progress as quickly as they could get up the slide, rather than be confined by the speed (or lack thereof) of an elevator/bucket. And at the same time, the room was more elaborate than the Dungeon. Plus, I don't know why, but the temple guard captures in the Quicksand Bog seemed pretty epic when I was younger, with the guard bursting out of the Styrofoam blocks and all. I rated the Quicksand Bog with a 6.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 3: Quicksand Bog/Pharaoh's Secret Passage
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 03, 2012, 04:08:24 PM
Yeah, if there was one thing that I liked about the Quicksand Bog and Pharaoh's Secret Slide, it was the only true room in that room space that tested the contestant's ability to navigate through the room. Contestants like Zac, Katie from "Imperial Wizard", and Kevin had no problem navigating through the room or up the slide. Meanwhile, Karisa got lost in the Quicksand Bog and Pat and Kimberly had trouble climbing up the slide. There was a degree of skill required to complete the room, unlike the lame Mine Shaft/Well.

I'll give this a 7 as well. It was a cool room, even though there wasn't much to it but a slide and a bunch of blocks.

I gave it a 5. One of the easiest rooms of season 3, but way better than what was there before.

Oops, almost forgot to include the new poll. The next room up is the Spider's Lair. Hang tight though for a few minutes, I need to tally and set up the poll for the new day. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 4: Spider's Lair
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 04, 2012, 09:35:21 PM
Okay, the new poll is set up for the Spider's Lair now.

Anyways, I gave the room a score of a 3. The room was pretty lame and poorly executed. The webbing was useless and didn't really prevent the contestants from traversing through it. They could just walk through the back of the room in order to get around it easily. Plus, it was so thin that I am not sure how a contestant could make it to one of the upper rooms. It was an alright concept, but they could've done better. Probably the lamest variation of the Swamp on the show. Hardly any contestant entered the room anyways.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 4: Spider's Lair

I give it a 2. It was just a useless room with webbing in it. And like stated above, hardly anyone ever entered that room.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 4: Spider's Lair
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 04, 2012, 11:28:37 PM
I wonder why they changed that room so much on the show. No other room really had that many changes, yet this room space went through a total of four different rooms. I also thought it was unusual that they brought the Swamp back for a little bit too. Too bad we didn't see much of the Bamboo Forest. What was the point of using it for five episodes?

Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 5: Room of the Ancient Warriors
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 05, 2012, 10:04:55 PM
I meant specifically in season one. There were four rooms used total in that one season alone. That is an incredible number of rooms used.  Sorry for not clearing that up earlier.

And the next room is going to be the Ancient Warriors. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 5: Room of the Ancient Warriors
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 05, 2012, 10:08:34 PM
I gave the Room of the Ancient Warriors a score of an 8. I thought it was a solid and memorable room on the show. Some of the most memorable temple guard encounters were in that room. Like the guards from "Ivan the Terrible" and "Jedediah Smith". :P Also, the temple guard captures were unique compared to the other rooms on the show besides the Dark Forest. The objective was pretty good also and it wasn't too challenging. On the downside though, I always felt the room was cramped and too small. I also missed the ladders that went down to the Jester's Court. They could've really made some interesting layouts if they kept it. But it is truly an awesome room.

I think this is the 4th best room of all time (Only the Shrine of the Silver Monkey, Jester's Court, and the Laser Light Room is better) I gave it a 9!
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 5: Room of the Ancient Warriors
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 05, 2012, 10:20:43 PM
I was actually going to give it a 9 because the room was so unique and definitely one of the most creative rooms on the show. But the cramped space turned me off though and a handful of rooms deserve better scores. But it is definitely one of my top 5 rooms on the show. I won't say what other 4 rooms I like better though. I will wait until the time comes.  :mrred:

I think I gave Spider's Lair a 3.

Ancient Warriors gets a 7 from me. Kind of easy pulling down levers, but it's still a unique room. It also had an awesome way for temple guards to make captures.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 5: Room of the Ancient Warriors
Post by: PurpleParrot4Life on December 05, 2012, 11:24:45 PM
I would have given the Room of the Ancient Warriors an 8 because it was the most memorable room from when I originally saw the show, even though it was not the most difficult room; however, the array of epic temple guard captures bumped my score up to a 9. Hands down, it was one of the best rooms in terms of creativity on the producers' part; I just wish that the room's size wasn't so confining.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 6: Throne Room
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 06, 2012, 09:52:27 PM
I am going to cut the Ancient Warrior poll ten minutes short. I will have the results in the original post like usual.

The next room is the Throne Room. For this poll, I am counting both the S1 and S2 version of it as one room. So you can factor both of those rooms into your final score. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 6: Throne Room
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 06, 2012, 09:57:35 PM
This is how I got my score for the Throne Room:

Throne Room (S1) - 3/10

I am sorry, but this room was just so lame. I was going to give it a score of a 2, but at least the objective was not a "push the actuator" like all the other S1 rooms it seems. But anyways, a giant seat with nothing else was pretty lame. I always laugh when contestants sit on it when the doors are already open.

Throne Room (S2) - 3/10

Like the S1 version, it was just as lame. I hated the rotating aspect of it and it consumed unnecessary time. I am not sure why they bothered to bring it back. And the fact that contestants had to sit on it to exit was lame too. It also seemed kind of buggy too in certain runs, with "Butch Cassidy" and "Golden Stallion" coming to mind. Thank God the Laser Light Room replaced this.

When you average it together, it came out to be a 3. Just an all around lame and uninspiring room.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 6: Throne Room
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on December 06, 2012, 10:04:55 PM
Season 1 version: 2
Season 2 version: 4

For the former, it was just a plastic seat, yet some contestants STILL didn't get that the door was already opened. For the latter, I did kind of like the rotating aspect of it. But at the end of the day, it wasn't really an objective at all. And it was just a hyped up version of the Season 1 room.

Total ranking: It gets a 3.

I like how the producers put a ladder on the back of the wall in the S2 Throne Room. I mean if the Throne is part of the main objective, why have it back there anyways? Paula even uses it I believe in her run. Just a lame room period.

if you look closely, the back of the wall has some square-shaped indentations on it. Thus, I think that the back of the throne was later used for the Laser Light Room.

That's it for the Throne Room. The score is posted in the main post as usual.

Next up is the Pit of the Pendulum.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 7: Pit of the Pendulum
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 08, 2012, 12:39:35 AM
I gave the Pit of the Pendulum a score of a 7. It was probably my most favorite variation of the Pit of Despair next to the Rope Swing one from the last two layouts of season two. The room itself felt like an actual objective rather than to simply open a new door with an actuator. Also, I like how when the contestants knocked down the column, it opened all unlocked doors for them. This gives the contestants a snapshot of which route they can take. The old versions of the Pit lead the contestants and viewers confused which all available doors were actually unlocked unless they tried it all. On the downside, I did like the element of unpredictability that the old Pits had. Plus, the way it was design made it challenging for the contestants to navigate. I hate seeing them waste all that time climbing due to foam blocks at the bottom.

I gave it an 8, it was a neat room. Where unlike other Pit rooms, it wasn't just measly hitting the actuators and go.

Next up will be the Lightning Ball Room after I complete the updates. ;)
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 8: Lightning Ball Room
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 09, 2012, 12:53:17 AM
I am going to give the Lightning Ball Room a score of a 5. I have mixed feelings about this room. It had a cool concept, but it was ruined by the fact that it was only required if the team was trying to enter the Shrine. What would've been awesome if the contestant actually had to complete the room objective in order for the Mine Shaft elevator to work. This room was much better than the lame Torch Room and Viper's Nest - it had an objective that was neither difficult or overly easy. But it didn't really appear that long in the temple and I forget that this room exists half of the time. Nothing really special IMO.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 8: Lightning Ball Room
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on December 09, 2012, 01:09:29 AM
I gave it a 7. While it did provide an actual objective for the contestants, it really wasn't used that often. And like stated above, it was only required if you were going to the Shrine. It was kind of a wasted potential room in my opinion.

I thought this room was cool, but it only got completed twice. So I'll give it a 7.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 8: Lightning Ball Room
Post by: PurpleParrot4Life on December 09, 2012, 02:33:31 PM
I wasn't as thrilled with the Lightning Ball Room as other people seem to have been. Connecting up four "power cords" was not difficult at all, and on top of that, it was only required if the team was progressing to the Shrine of the Silver Monkey. The idea was good and the lighting/sound effects were well-executed, but it was a very simple room that was not utilized to its fullest potential.

Its funny how mixed the reviews are for this room compared to the past rooms, where their votes were usually clustered. I am probably going to leave this open for another half hour or so. Next room up is the Dungeon.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 9: Dungeon
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 10, 2012, 12:03:29 AM
I put the results for the Lightning Ball Room in the original post. And I have set up the poll for the Dungeon.

Anyways, I gave the Dungeon a score of a 1. Wow, no words can describe how god awful this room was. What was the point of it anyways? It was literally a waste of space with two ladders. Oh yeah, let's throw in two skeletons and call it a name. This room made the Well and Mine Shaft look like one of the best ideas on the show. Lame room, lame name, lame props, and nothing redeemable about it at all. Screw this room.

I put the results for the Lightning Ball Room in the original post. And I have set up the poll for the Dungeon.

The result for the Lightning Ball Room in the original post is labeled the "Crypt." You may want to edit that.

As far as the Dungeon goes, I gave it a 2 because I always find Kristen's attempt to plow through the wrong side of the wall (twice) in "Lucky Pig of Amelia Earhart" comical. Other than that, the room was very vacant and not very memorable. It didn't seem like there was much thought put into the design or execution of the room. I also disliked that only once was a guard stationed in the Dungeon, and the guard didn't even come out until after the contestant progressed passed the room.

*cough*Kamehameha*cough*

Anyways, I also give it a 1. I think THIS might be the worst room ever. And good lord was this gray, plain room hideous. -_-
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 9: Dungeon
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 10, 2012, 01:56:49 AM
Yeah, at least the Heart Room was sort of cool with the wall paper. The Dungeon was lame. It didn't even look like a Dungeon at all. The producers were probably thinking, "We have two skeletons in our prop department, let's throw them into the room and call it a Dungeon". And I always  when Kirk always has to bring up about former contestants being in the Dungeon.

And yeah, Kristen from "Amelia Earhart" not knowing how to bust through the wall is hilarious. The room was already dumbed to the bare minimum as is, how do you not see the wall? But yeah, I have to say this is the worst room of the temple. Although there is one other room we have not covered yet that is even a bigger fail than the Dungeon. I think we know what that room is.

I am going to cut the Dungeon's time a little short and add the results in the first post. Looks like it will rank lower than the Heart Room. ;)

Next up is the Dark Forest.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 10: Dark Forest
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 10, 2012, 11:41:30 PM
I gave the Dark Forest a score of a 9. This was one of the most memorable rooms on the show for me. There are a lot of memorable moments that happened in this room from the Temple Spirit captures to contestants screwing around. The room was also unique as it introduced a different type of temple guard capture. I like how the players had a 1:2 chance of getting captured by a tree when searching them. When I think back to Legends, this is the first room that appears in my mind. On the down side, the room wasn't that difficult and wasn't even required going in one direction. Plus, there were no artifact grabs in this room. Overall though, this was one of my favorite rooms on the show.  :mrred:

I liked the Dark Forest in concept and design, and I enjoyed the Season Three lighting more than that of Season Two. The temple spirits were a clever addition, too. However, the fact that the objective only had to be completed one way and the fact that this is not one of the first rooms that pops into my head made me give this room a score of 7... (I meant to give it an 8, but when I hit the down arrow on my computer to scroll, I accidentally changed the selected field and then hit "submit" before I caught myself.)

Next up is the Wheel Room/Troubled Bridge

The poll is set up now. This time I made sure that you could change your vote anytime during the 24 hour window. ;)

Anyways, I gave the Wheel Room/Troubled Bridge a score of a 5. It was a unique design used for the Pit, but there was a lot of stuff I didn't like about it. First off, the giant wheel was so large that it took up almost the whole Pit. The contestants could only climb down a ladder in order to even get to the bottom of it. Second of all, I am not a fan of the Pits that limited the contestant's choices. I liked where they were free to pick where to go next. Finally, this form of the Pit overstayed its welcome in Season 1. 5 layouts was WAY too long to use this room. 2-3 would've been fine, but not for more than half of the season. But still, I enjoyed the uniqueness that it brought to the Pit. Plus, it reused DD props. But I thought the Rock Quarry did a better job anyways.

I also give it a 5, for the same reasons. Plus, I agree about how it overstayed its welcome. Though I don't know what kind of a room could replace it. Plus, it was more useful than the Wall Climb.

For the same reasons TRJ mentioned, this gets a 5 for me. How the Rock Quarry was Used in one layout and this in 5 Layouts seems stupid, I mean this was used in over half the episodes in Season 1. Room stayed too long.

I gave The Wheel Room/Troubled Bridge a 4. I agree with what everybody else said regarding the Wheel Room portion. I, too, preferred the Pit when the contestant had a choice of where to go. And in addition, I disliked that the Troubled Bridge was literally just a bridge that led directly to the Observatory. I also didn't like how there were so many runs where a contestant would be led into the Wheel Room/Troubled Bridge, only to find that the one door to the inner temple was locked, so they would have to backtrack to the entrance and work themselves back into the other portion of the Wheel Room/Troubled Bridge.

Yeah, the Wall Climb was lame. I wouldn't have mind if they went back to the Pit of Despair minus the ropes though. But the Wheel Room was definitely an improvement over the Wall Climb.

I agree, I hate when that happened too with the whole dead end thing. At least the Rock Quarry never did this to the contestants when it was put into place. The Troubled Bridge dead end wasn't too bad (just a useless detour), but the Wheel Room dead ends were brutal. Just look at "Blackbeard's Treasure Map" and "Belshazzar".  :!:

I disagree. I thought the "Blackbeard" and "Belshazzar" dead-ends were worse, mainly because I think climbing up from the Cave of Sighs was a tougher challenge compared to climbing down from the Gargoyle Room. Belshazzar was more deadly though due to the Harmonic Convergence supposedly being a dead-end itself. Even though Sabrina was a lost cause, the dead-end in her run was brutal too.

Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 12: Medusa's Lair

I gave Medusa's Lair a score of a 4. I was not really a fan of this room. It had a cool concept, but it was executed poorly. You know when a temple room is too hard when you have to dumb down on the rooms objective. Expecting a contestant to get four snakes into her head was brutal. I know Tony from "Stone Head" was kind of a moron, but Whitney from "Captain John Smith" took a lot of time herself just because it was hard to get the snakes into her head. Even with two snakes, it ate up a lot of time in the run. And sometimes the snakes wouldn't go in all the way either and delayed the runner as a result. Like Michael from "Missing Eye" and Peter from "Benjamin Franklin". It was ab etter room than the Heart Room, but they kind of screwed up with the execution.  :|

I also give it a 4. Not only did it have to be dumbed down like stated above, but it seemed like Medusa's Lair was always broken in every episode. It was definitely a "great idea, poor execution" type of room.

I gave the Room of the Mandarin Hand a score of a 7. It was probably one my most favorite center of the temple room on the show. The objective was not too easy like the Heart Room, not broken like Medusa's Lair, and not overly difficult like the Chamber of the Sacred Markers. I also like the name of the room also. Plus, it stored an artifact for one of my most favorite losses. This was an awesome room and they should've got rid of Medusa's Lair earlier in favor of this.  :mrred:

I gave the Cave of Sighs a 4. Honestly, it was a pretty bland and uninspiring room. The design was kind of lame and the color choice was pretty bad. One thing I did like though was how the player could enter it directly from the temple gate. Otherwise, the room stuck out like a sore thumb. The Ledges was much better where it looked like an actual cave-like environment and the color scheme matched the temple. I am glad they changed it in Season 2.

Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 14: Cave of Sighs
Post by: PurpleParrot4Life on December 16, 2012, 10:55:40 AM
I gave the Cave of Sighs a 3. While I liked that teams could enter directly from the arena's floor, that was really the only thing I enjoyed about it. Even then, some contestants couldn't find the entrance.  ;) The grayish blue walls and the lighting didn't really seem to fit the setting, unless the producers were going for an "R&B" kind of "blues" feeling to align with the "Sighs" in the room's title. It also seemed that temple guards were placed there far too often, and I feel bad that they had to awkwardly squat in the corner, even when the contestants were exiting the temple.

I gave the Treasure Room a score of a 1. I hate this room so much. I actually think this room is worser than the Dungeon. Seriously, what was the point of this room? It was just the Heart Room disguised with a Treasure Chest in the middle. This god damn waste of space lasted for FIVE LAYOUTS! Having it for one layout was more than enough, so why keep it around that long? Oh yeah, the room only worked one time. So what was the point of it? The room's design is lame and the name itself is stupid.

Stupid name, stupid objective, overstaying its welcome, stupid waste of space. I HATE YOU TREASURE ROOM! :x :x :x :x :x :x

Fixed one of your smileys. ;)

I also gave it a 1. Most pointless room ever, it's like it was just there for decoration, and not for an actual objective. The chest was only used once, and almost every other time, it wouldn't open. Definitely didn't deserve to stay in the temple for 5 layouts.

I gave the Treasure Room a 2 because, as horrible vacant and underused the room was, there was a cool sound effect when the treasure chest "opened"... twice... in the "Belshazzar" and "Moccasins" runs.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 15: Treasure Room
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 17, 2012, 04:56:36 PM
I like the sound the chest made also when it opened. I think the same sound effect was used when a contestant completed the Treasury of the Golden Orbs. I am not sure why they didn't use it in later seasons.

Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 16: Room of the Secret Password
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 18, 2012, 12:57:08 AM
I gave the Room of the Secret Password a score of a 7. IMO, this was one of the best rooms in the upper left hand corner of the temple. The objective was not ridiculously easy like the Torch Room and Viper's Nest, and it actually appeared in a good portion of the show, not just for one layout. And in Season 3, it actually required the contestants to complete the objective in order to enter the Quicksand Bog. This should've happened a long time ago. I like the unique objective the room offered and there were many memorable moments in this room - like Kelli butchering the passwords in the "Judge Roy Bean" episode and Andrea throwing the tablets on the floor. Easily the best room in that room space.  :mrred:

Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 16: Room of the Secret Password
Post by: PurpleParrot4Life on December 18, 2012, 10:38:37 AM
I gave the Room of the Secret Password a 9 because it was hands-down the best use of the upper floor, far-left space. It was nice that it made an appearance in both Seasons 2 and 3, and I greatly enjoyed that it was forced to be completed during Season 3 with the addition of the Pharaoh's Secret Password. The objective was pretty straight forward but not too simple. Some great and memorable moments occurred in the room; even Chandra's completing it in Season 2 is memorable. And unlike the first two seasons, there were multiple temple guard encounters there.

Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 17: Room of the Royal Gongs
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 18, 2012, 09:52:07 PM
I gave the Room of the Royal Gongs a score of a 3. I am sorry, but I was never a fan of this room. It was pretty lame and a blatant ripoff of the Gargoyle Room. Why did they even replace the Gargoyles in the first place? The Royal Gongs only appeared in two layouts and they worked the exact same way. Actually, they were just three giant actuators when you look at it. In the end, I like the Gargoyles better.

That's it for the Room of the Royal Gongs. It finished with a score of a 3.2

I haven't done the Observatory yet at all. But I think I am going to separate them since most of their objectives were unique and not too similar. The first one will be the Sundial version.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 18: Observatory - Sundial
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 19, 2012, 10:27:44 PM
I gave the Sundial Observatory a score of a 3. There was nothing really special about this room at all. The objective was so simple that it made the Season 1 temple look even more pathetic. Just lame like most of the other rooms during that season. What saved it from getting a lower score was due to the fact that it was not another "hit the actuator" room and the contestants did have to spin it all the way around to open all doors. Other than that, it was a pretty lame and uninpiring room.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 18: Observatory - Sundial
Post by: PurpleParrot4Life on December 19, 2012, 10:44:33 PM
Like most other Season 1 rooms, the Observatory (Sundial) was very uninspiring. While this wasn't a "hit the actuator" room, the objective was not much more difficult or time consuming. There isn't too much more to say about this room. That's why I gave it a 2.

The next one up is the Room of the Fallen Columns.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 19: Room of the Fallen Columns
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 20, 2012, 10:34:31 PM
I gave the Room of the Fallen Columns a score of a 4. I wish I could give this room a higher score, but there is some things that bring it down. I do like how the room created an actual challenge for the center of the temple. The Heart Room overstayed its welcome WAY too long in the temple. It's too bad though that the producers waited until the very last day of S1 to add this room. But it was an immense improvement over the Heart Room. On the downside though, the room only appeared in four episodes So we hardly see much of it at all. Plus, the name for it is kind of silly and lame. They really could've gave it a better one. And when we get down to it, it was just the Heart Room disguised with a mass of cluttery columns. I would've gave it a higher score if it appeared in more episodes, but it was just a forgettable room that was another one of the many hit the actuator rooms of S1.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 19: Room of the Fallen Columns
Post by: PurpleParrot4Life on December 20, 2012, 10:35:36 PM
The Room of the Fallen Columns was far better than that plain Heart Room because it offered a bit of variety to the room, though it was not exactly difficult to navigate. Three of the four episodes in which it was featured a temple guard in the room, so it was not unexpected for a guard to be there. Additionally, the guards had trouble capturing the contestants, so it came across to me as a bit awkward. I gave the room a 3.

I gave the Tomb of the Headless Kings a score of a 5. I am sorry, I never liked this room that much at all. It had a cool concept and definitely the most unique room in that room space, but there are some things I don't like about it. The objective was way too time consuming and it felt like the average amount of time to complete the room was 25-30 seconds. I hate when the contestants wuld pull on the same vine for 10 seconds. Also, the room was dark and cramped, so it was hard for them to move around. And there always seemed to be a temple guard there too. I enjoyed the runs where the team didn't have to travel down into that room. It was a cool concept, but  am not a fan of it due to the difficulty of it and the room layout.

I gave this room a 4. This was a unique room, but it seemed too challenging. They could've made it easier by getting rid of one of the kings. Also, this room is very macabre. I mean was it REALLY necessary to have screams of people play whenever a vine is pulled? And bones falling from the ceiling? Talk about creepy.

Post by: PurpleParrot4Life on December 22, 2012, 10:15:55 AM
I would have liked to give the Tomb of the Headless Kings a high score for its very creative objective, but it was not as well executed as I had hoped. I enjoyed this room for its design and effects, but the room seemed too small and dark for its own good. Contestants spent far too long completing the whole objective because there was so much going on in the room. Some contestants took a while getting all of the vines down, while others had a hard time finding the skull. Then, there was also a chance that teams would place the skull on the wrong skeleton and have to take time to go to the other one. Plus, I didn't enjoy the excessive temple guard placements in the Tomb of the Headless Kings or their awkward placement in the most cramped, darkest corner of the room. All things considered, I gave this room a 5.

SGLegendsfan, don't worry, I will change your vote to an 8 when I add up the votes later. ;)

And I agree, Viper. The objective of the whole room was a little over the top. I also wondered how some contestants realized when the skull fell too. Since the room was so dark, it might've been hard for them to see if it falls. I am even surprised that Kirk can see it fall sometimes.  :o

I also gave it a 5. While it wasn't a bad room, it was still way too time-consuming. There were way too many vines to pull and the skull could end up getting lost under the bones (or in War Fan's case, on a skeleton throne). Not to mention, there were a lot of temple guard encounters there.

Thanks for fixing the poll option. I always set it so people can change their vote, but it never seems to work when I do it. Regardless, the Tomb of the Headless Kings finish with a score of 5.25. It got a lower score than I thought. :o

Next up is the Torch Room.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 21: Torch Room
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 23, 2012, 12:38:26 AM
I gave the Torch Room a score of a 3. I have never seen such a forgettable room in the temple. I swear, there is nothing even memorable about this room. I don't remember that it exists like 95% of the time. The design of the room is lame and boring, and it was like the producers had no idea what to turn the room into, so they threw in a couple of random torches and called it a room. And on top of that, the objective was only required if the contestants took the Well or Mine Shaft elevator. It appeared on a good portion of the show, and it was only completed twice? So lame. The only reason it didn't get a lower score because it was not a "hit the actuator" room. Still, the room is so lame and forgettable that is just another waste of space in season one.

Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 21: Torch Room
Post by: PurpleParrot4Life on December 23, 2012, 10:01:54 AM
The Torch Room was probably one of the most thought-out room of the Season One temple in terms of objective and design aside from the Shrine of the Silver Monkey, yet it was still a very simple and forgettable room. I appreciate that it was not a "hit the actuator" room, but I wish the objective had to be completed when a contestant was heading in all directions, not just toward the Shrine. I gave the Torch Room a 3.

Next up is the Well.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 22: Well
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 23, 2012, 10:39:13 PM
I gave the Well a score of a 2. Wow, what a super lame room. It was just an empty space with a giant bucket. It was even more empty than the super lame Dungeon! There is really not much to say about this room except that it was a waste of space. What was wrong with the Mine Shaft? I always liked that room better and it had a better appearance. Oh yeah, any team that passed through the Well never won in the temple either. Just so lame and uninspiring. And it was so sluggish to ride too. The only thing saving it from a 1 is that the objective was more unique than other temple rooms of Season 1... but that is not saying much.

Who? Rinette? I don't really blame the loss on her. Only about 45 seconds to get to where Garrett was taken out, plus she had the Holes of Python to go through. Almost no chance of getting there.

I think he meant Tara from "The Medal of Sir Edmund Hillary". ;)

I don't really hold it against her though for not bringing out the artifact either. She had only 21 seconds left and was all the way on the other side of the temple. She would've had a very close win if she did bring it out. And unlike Chris, she put up a good effort in the temple. But yeah, this could've been another win too.

Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 24, 2012, 12:51:40 AM
Believe it or not, the Mne Shaft was only used in S1L1 and S1L2, which means it only appeared in six episodes for Season One. And it was only used in two episodes - "Galileo's Cannonball" and "Map to the Lost Gold Mine". You wouldn't even know that the Mine Shaft appeared in Season One because it was rarely used. It is more memorable for its usage in S2.

The Well was used in S1L6-L9. So it appeared in a better portion of Season One. Hell, Kirk even calls the Mine Shaft in S2 as "The Well" sometimes.  :P

The part of the slow bucket and how that anyone never won when entering this room is good enough for a 1 with me.

Just because no teams won if they entered the Well doesn't mean that the room was in and of itself bad. I agree that the ride was excessively slow, but I don't see why the outcomes of the runs in which the room was featured would influence how well-designed and well-executed the room was.

That being said, I gave the Well a 3. I think that the room was just as good as the Mineshaft earlier in the season, and was also far better than the Dungeon that immediately preceded the Well. The bucket seemed to move about as sluggishly as the elevator. Plus, the color scheme seemed to work to me because it looked like the interior of a wishing well. Overall, the room may have been pretty empty, but it did its job well (bad pun alert). It would have been nice to have at least one run that entered the Well end in victory, but I don't hold that against the room.

Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 23: Laser Light Room
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 24, 2012, 11:48:55 PM
I gave the Laser Light Room a score of a 9. This is one of my all time favorite temple rooms on the show. It was easily the best bottom of the central shaft room IMO. The objective was perfect - it was not too easy or too hard. Some contestants could get the white light on their first block, while other contestants could get the white laser on their very last block. It mixed both luck with skill as some contestants pulled the blocks off faster than other contestants (Nick from "Charles Lindbergh" had the most badass completion of this room.) This room was very memorable on top of that too. And I love the special effects with this room involving the lasers. It was a very unique room of the temple. One of my top 5 favorite rooms.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 23: Laser Light Room

I hate to be a downer, but I'm giving the Laser Light Room a 6. While it was a huge improvement over the Throne Room, the objective was a little too easy for my liking. However, because of how cool the lasers made this room and because of it's not too over-the-top difficulty, it's my favorite bottom shaft room. Not a bad room.

I greatly enjoyed the Laser Light Room, so I gave it an 8. The objective was not terribly hard, nor was it time consuming, but it still was a fun objective that required some effort. Additionally, the room didn't feel cramped like the Tomb of the Headless Kings. The only thing about the room that I didn't like was that in most episodes, there was a temple guard in the room, and he could be seen from the cameraman's (the viewer's) perspective, which took away a little bit of the suspense and surprise. Overall, the Laser Light to me was the best use of the space in the bottom of the central shaft.

Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 24: Observatory - Stone Column
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 26, 2012, 01:28:23 AM
I gave the Stone Column Observatory a 7. This was a pretty solid room for the most part. The objective was MUCH better than the Season 1 Observatories. It was a good challenge and was one of the few rooms of the temple that required skill to complete. Some contestants like Shem and Matt were able to assemble it like it was no problem while others like Monica and Steven from "Silk Sash" struggled with the room. On the downside, the room wasn't very memorable IMO.  And the objective could be a bit time consuming, even for the good contestants. It was a good room, but didn't have many exciting moments.

The Observatory (Stone Column) was significantly more enjoyable than the Season 1 Observatory objectives because it proved to be more of a challenge. Still, it wasn't too difficult for most contestants. I also liked the balance between the episodes that the room did and did not have a guard, so it was always a surprise as to whether there was one or not in a particular episode. I wish that the still camera shot was in a different position because it tended to be a little dark (almost in negative in some episodes), but that is the only thing I didn't like about the room. I gave the Observatory (Stone Column) a 7.

Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 25: Rock Quarry
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 27, 2012, 11:42:47 AM
I gave the Rock Quarry a 6. I like this room better than the Wheel Room. The objective was more creative and a little more challenging. Some contestants were smart and use two rocks at once, while some contestants even missed the rocks. So it was a room that had contestants with mixed skills. And unlike the Wheel Room, the Rock Quarry only lasted one layout and the room was not cramped. On the downside, I was never really a fan of the Pits that limited the player's choices. One of the better Pits, but nothing too special.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 25: Rock Quarry
Post by: PurpleParrot4Life on December 27, 2012, 11:55:04 AM
I gave the Rock Quarry a 5. While I enjoyed it better than the Wheel Room, I also preferred when the contestants' options to get out of the Pit were not limited. It was smart to reuse the Well bucket for the Rock Quarry, but I wasn't really a fan of the room.

Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 26: Room of the Golden Idols
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 28, 2012, 02:05:26 PM
I gave the Room of the Golden Idols a score of a 3. This is one of those temple runs where the producers "missed the target" when designing it. It had the potential to be a decent room for S1 if they actually REQUIRED the contestants to push an idol to move onto the next room. I wonder why they never did this? Anyways, this room is pretty lame and hardly anyone entered it. Only one contestant tried completing the real objective of the room, and Jennifer just gave up after pressing down an idol. What saves this room from getting a lower score was the fact that I found the room design kind of neat. The Golden Idols looked kind of cool and I wouldn't mind having one of them as a prop sitting. Overall, it was a lame room that the producers executed pretty poorly.

Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 27: Bamboo Forest
Post by: The Red Jaguars on December 31, 2012, 11:00:18 PM
I gave the Bamboo Forest a score of a 7. I know it was a "hit the actuator" room, but there is something about this room that makes it so much more likable than the other rooms in that room space in S1. Maybe because its time in the temple was so short lived and ot  only appeared in one layout. I always wondered why they only used this room for only one layout too? I thought the design was cool and pretty unique. The bamboo poles were kind of challenging to traverse through, and were better than the Swamp and Spider's Lair. The name for the room was pretty cool and I like the temple guard encounter there during the "Zenobia" run. :P I know 7 is a little high, but this room never got a chance to shine and I thought the design was pretty cool. Shame on you producers for only using this for one layout.

Next up is the Chamber of the Sacred Markers.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 28: Chamber of the Sacred Markers
Post by: The Red Jaguars on April 01, 2013, 08:05:38 PM
The Chamber was one of the toughest rooms in the temple. A lot of contestants spent time trying to find the markers along the back wall and matching it with the correct markers near the door. This room was definitely time consuming and it felt as if contestants spent 20-30 seconds to complete this room, even some of the most competent ones. It didn't help that the Markers blended into the wall design of the room. So you wonder why some contestants like Katie from "Lily-Crested Crown" struggled a lot. On top of that, this room had some very memorable temple guard encounters - Madame Tussaud and Pirate Captain come to mind. It was a very memorable and challenging, but I felt that this room was a little too challenging. Like the Tomb of the Headless Kings, I am not really a fan of rooms where the contestants have to spend too much time to complete their objectives. But I like this room much more than the Headless Kings. So I give this one an 7.

Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 29: Room of Harmonic Convergence
Post by: The Red Jaguars on April 02, 2013, 07:46:27 PM
I gave the Room of Harmonic Convergence a 4. The room had a good concept, but it felt that it was broken half of the time. I mean there are contestants that would have to try the same step combination 2-3 times in order for it to work. And then we have temple runs like "The Golden Cup of Belshazzar" and "The Lost Logbooks of Magellan" where none of the doors opened even after all the step combinations were tried. When it comes to Season 1 one rooms though, this one was pretty good since it was an actual objective and not some lame hit the actuator or sit on a giant chair objective. This room being broken a little too much brings the score down for it a little. Plus, it appeared a very short time on the show.

Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 30: Viper's Nest
Post by: The Red Jaguars on April 03, 2013, 04:25:59 PM
I gave the Viper's Nest a 3. What a lame room with a lame objective. All the contestants had to do was pull a snake from the jar in order for the objective to work. Not much thought for a Season 2 temple room. Even the Torch Room was more creative and difficult than this room. And not to mention, the objective was only completed once. They should've made it where the player HAD to complete the objective, even if they were to use just the elevator. Just a forgettable and lame room.

I also put up a schedule of the remaining rooms we need to cover. ;)

I gave the Swamp a 4. The room was a "hit the actuator" room, but I found it to be memorable at least compared to the other rooms like it on the show. The design of the room also looked sort of cool also. I liked how the Season 1 Swamp looked better though instead of the Season 2. But when we get down to it, the room was just a waste of space with no way of slowing down the contestants like the Bamboo Forest and Holes of Python did. You would think they would've made it better in Season 2, but no. Overall, it was a cool looking room with a lame objective.

Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 32: Shrine of the Silver Monkey
Post by: The Red Jaguars on April 06, 2013, 12:46:21 AM
I gave the Shrine of the Silver Monkey a 10. This was definitely the most iconic and best room on the show. If there is any temple room you remember, it is this one right here. It doesn't matter if you haven't watched the show in a decade, you will remember the Shrine. This room truly tested the contestants and the fastest contestants to complete it were usually the best and the slowest ones were usually the bad ones. Not to mention, this room had dozens of screw jobs too. It was a test for the contestant since day one from "Galileo's Cannonball" to "Catherine the Great". It was the Shrine of the Silver Monkey, how could you not love it?  :mrsilver:

I also give the Shrine a 10. Best room ever, there's a reason it was the only room to appear in all 120 episodes. It would be a huge mistake to replace it.

Chalk up another perfect 10 for the Shrine. Perfect application of puzzle-solving, and not too hard to solve unless your name is Larry.  Not to mention the longevity!

Next one up is the Pit of Despair (Rope Swing).
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 33: Pit of Despair (Rope Swing)
Post by: The Red Jaguars on April 07, 2013, 12:37:55 AM
I gave the Pit a 6. This room pretty much set the precedent for the Pit of the Pendulum. It was more user friendly towards the contestants where they didn't have to climb the wall anymore. There were a couple of memorable moments in this form of the Pit too - from Tarrah's messed up jump to Jason using the Dog Leash to reach the rope. I think this is my favorite form of the Pit after the Pit of the Pendulum in S3. At least the contestants still had a choice on where to go in this one. But it was still basically a hit the actuator room when we get down to it.

Yeah, I also gave it a 6. It just fit very well with the overall Season 2 layouts.

I gave the PoD a slightly lower 5. Nothing really special about it, but it did have that nice look to it that made it blend well with the rest of the S2 rooms.

Next up is the Pirate's Cove.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 34: Pirate's Cove
Post by: The Red Jaguars on April 07, 2013, 07:47:45 PM
I gave the Pirate's Cove a 2. This room was so lame and a useless waste of space. The whole Pirate wheel was so lame and looked silly. For some reason, it just made the temple look childish. It was nice for a team to have to complete an objective to enter the room below, but this one was too easy. It was like something you see at a playground. And I like how there is no mention of the Torch Room objective for contestants who enter this room from below. Even Kirk didn't know what to do in the "Delphi" run until a good 20 seconds passed. So you wonder why Jackie got confused in that room. Lame room, lame name, and a lame objective.

Next up is the King's Storeroom.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 35: King's Storeroom
Post by: The Red Jaguars on April 08, 2013, 11:45:27 PM
Instead of doing separate polls for the two different King's Storeroom, I combined them into one poll. You can base your vote for both King's Storerooms in one vote.

Here is how I rated it:

King's Storeroom (S2) - 9/10
King's Storeroom (S3) - 7/10

The King's Storeroom was both a very memorable and innovate room of the temple. The objective was very unique and also did challenge the player on top of that. Some contestants got lucky with finding the key on the first try while the other contestants found it a third time. I like the S2 version of this room more because it was more memorable IMO and I enjoyed it more when the contestants smashed the pots with their hands. The S3 version was too dark and I didn't like the camera angled used in that version of the room. Plus, the pots looked cooler in S2 also. And don't lie, you secretly wanted to smash the pots in this room to. ;) Overall, I give this room an 8. It was a great room.

I also gave the King's Storeroom an 8, for the same reasons as TRJ. The separate rooms themselves also get a 9/10 and 7/10 for the Season 2 and Season 3 versions respectively. I definitely preferred the Season 2 version, and yes I also wanted to smash those pots myself.

I will end the King's Storeroom time a little early. It will finish with a 8.20. (Last second vote )

Next one up is the Mine Shaft.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 36: Mine Shaft
Post by: The Red Jaguars on April 09, 2013, 07:17:11 PM
The Mine Shaft was pretty much like the Well, but I found this one better and more memorable than the Well. The room color in S2 looked great and fit the theme of the room. There were also more memorable moments attached to the Mine Shaft. Riding the elevator was never a good choice for the contestants, but that was the sang of this room and usually only the poor choice makers rid the elevator. I gave the Well a 3, so I am going to give the Mine Shaft a higher score. It will get a 5 for being more creative and memorable. The Well was just lame.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 36: Mine Shaft

I also gave the Mine Shaft a 5. While it was a MUCH better room than the Well, it ruined too many victory opportunities for some teams.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 36: Mine Shaft

Another 5 from me. Nothing really special about the Mine Shaft, but it was a step up from the Dungeon and the Well.

Post by: PurpleParrot319 on April 09, 2013, 10:43:54 PM
I'm sorry, but the Mine Shaft gets a 2 from me. Bland waste of space with a slow-ass elevator that ate up too much time. What a lame room.

I am going to be gone for most of the evening, so I am ending this poll earlier than usual. The Mine Shaft will finish with a 4.40.

Next up is the Tomb of the Ancient Kings.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 37: Tomb of the Ancient Kings
Post by: The Red Jaguars on April 10, 2013, 01:21:04 PM
The Tomb of the Ancient Kings gets a 7 from me. Even though the Dark Forest was better, I still liked this room a lot and thought it looked cool. The design of the room looked pretty cool and it actually does kind of look like some ancient Egyptian Ruler's tomb. I use to think that each golden door lead to a different room, but I was wrong about that. :P While the objective was kind of simple, it was also ten times better than all of the hit the actuator rooms in Season 1. The temple guard encounters in this room were a classic too. While the Dark Forest was probably the better room, I still liked the Tomb and it was a pretty memorable room. :mrblue:

Time to move onto the next room, which will be the Treacherous Holes of Python.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 38: Treacherous Holes of Python
Post by: The Red Jaguars on April 11, 2013, 02:13:09 PM
Holes of Python will get a 6 from me. I don't know, but this one room kind of felt overrated IMO. I mean I know it was time consuming to cross and everything, but I hardly consider this room an actual objective. It was better than the Swamp and Spider's Lair, but the room felt cramped and there was really no degree of difficulty in it. It was time consuming for everyone to cross. When we get down to it, it was just an actuator room with giant holes. Plus, the name never made much sense to me and sounds awkward. I still liked the Bamboo Forest better and rather see more of that room than this one.

Time is up now for the Holes of Python. It will end with a score of 6.50.

Next one up is the Room of Three Gargoyles.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 39: Room of the Three Gargoyles
Post by: The Red Jaguars on April 12, 2013, 03:38:17 PM
The Room of the Three Gargoyles is pretty much exactly like the Room of the Royal Gongs. If I recall correctly, I gave the Royal Gongs a 3. For the Three Gargoyles though, I think I am going to give this one a higher score. While both had the same objective, I liked the Gargoyles better than the Royal Gongs. The Gargoyle heads looked pretty cool and this room appeared in the majority of Season 1. Honestly, I'd rather they kept this room the whole S1 instead of bring the Royal Gongs at the very end of the season. The downside to this room was that it was too easy and not much scenery. Neither room was as good as the Crypt, but the Gargoyles weren't too bad though. I give this one an 5.

I might as well move onto the next room. The Room of the Three Gargoyles ends with a 4.67.

We are almost done! Next one up is the Observatory - Celestial Lights.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 40: Observatory - Celestial Lights
Post by: The Red Jaguars on April 13, 2013, 01:43:41 PM
Celestial Lights get a 4 from me. There is nothing special about this version of the Observatory at all. It was pretty much like the Sundial version of the Observatory, except I liked this one sort of better. At least the objective for this room was better than most of the Season 1 rooms where their only objective was to push an actuator. And the light effects sort of looked cool too. On the downside, the objective was still too simple and it was pretty much a carbon copy of the Sundial version of the room. And the room only appeared in two layouts. So it's kind of forgettable and not noteworthy at all. Overall, I liked it better than the Sundial, but there is nothing great about this room when we get down to it.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 40: Observatory - Celestial Lights
Post by: Purple Parrots Fan on April 13, 2013, 03:45:53 PM
I actually liked the Celestial Lights. Sure, there was nothing to the objective, but it was much better than the Observatory. I gave it a 5 though.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 40: Observatory - Celestial Lights

Nothing really special came about in the Observatory until S2. It gets a middle-of-the-road 5 from me.

I will end the Celestial Lights time right here. It will finish with a 4.25.

With three rooms left to cover, next one up is the Wall Climb.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 41: Wall Climb
Post by: The Red Jaguars on April 14, 2013, 12:42:24 PM
The Wall Climb gets a 2 from me. This is definitely my least favorite form of the Pit. No one actually completed the objective of the room (climb along the back of the walls to reach the next room). And even then, that would be too time consuming and pointless since it was easier just to jump into the Pit anyways. The ropes were anything but helpful also. Contestants seemed to struggle when they used the ropes to climb the wall. Even Lea from "Sultan Saladin" had trouble climbing the wall with the ropes. And the coloring used was too bright and out of place. I am glad they got rid of this early on in the season because it was both lame and didn't do much for the contestants.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 41: Wall Climb

And the Wall Climb ends with a lowly 2.50.

Our second to last room we need to cover now is the Treasury of the Golden Idols.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 42: Treasury of the Golden Orbs
Post by: The Red Jaguars on April 15, 2013, 02:23:59 PM
The Golden Orbs get a 6 from me. This room should've replaced the lame Treasure Room a long time ago. I can't believe that the producers waited until the last production day to implement this room. If it was implemented a lot sooner, then maybe some wins would get more praise since this room required an actual objective to complete. The objective for this room wasn't too hard, but it was better than hitting actuators. What drags this room's score down is that it only appeared in four episodes. Other than that, I have no problem with this room. Okay, the room name was a little weird too. But I will take this any door over a waste of space like the Treasure Room.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 42: Treasury of the Golden Orbs

I am just going to end this one early and move onto our last room. The Treasury finishes with a 6.33.

And our final room will be... The Jester's Court!  :mrorange:
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 43 Jester's Court
Post by: The Red Jaguars on April 16, 2013, 11:36:03 AM
The Jester's Court was a classic temple room and one of the best that the show had to offer. The objective was very unique and it was easily the best room in this room space. The short contestant's sort of got the raw deal in this room, but some of them completed it just fine (like Tarrah). I do like the S2 version better for the laugh and the ladders used for the room above. But it was still an awesome and one of the best rooms of the temple. I also kind of like how there were no guards in this room either. I will give the Jester's Court a 9 overall for being a solid addition to the temple.  :mrchameleon:

Jester's Court gets a 9. It was an awesome room, especially the Season 2 version.
Title: Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 43 Jester's Court

Putting aside my personal hatred of the Jesters' Court, I'll give it a 7.  There were problems with it (actuators not working/falling off, players having trouble aligning bodies), but all in all, it wasn't a truly horrible room.
