Title: All Time Best Temple Run Elimination Thread
Post by: The Red Jaguars on April 23, 2012, 06:39:13 PM
Welcome to the the All Time Best Temple Run Elimination Thread! In this thread, we are taking the top 15 temple runs from each season and determining the best temple runs on the show. You guys helped make the top 15 list from each season by voting on which ones deserved to be in the final list. And now that we finished all three seasons, we can determine the best temple runs on the show!

RULES:
- You can eliminate a temple run twice a day. Please try to keep your vote far apart and don't do them too close too each other (like voting an hour after your first vote.)
- Once a temple run is eliminated from the list, you cannot bring it back and it will be gone for good.
- Once we get to 15 runs remaining, we will start ranking them.
- Once we get to the last two runs, then we will vote on which one wins this thread.
- Have fun!

I will start it off in the next post.  :mrred:

My first vote goes to "The Broken Wing of Icarus". I hate this temple run and its Jason own damn fault that he didn't win. He had about a minute to get the artifact out of the Shrine, but he screwed around and lost as a result. And not only was his exit plan messed up, but he was a moron in the temple for backtracking and hesitating in each room of the temple. No excuse on why this team didn't win in the first place. Olivia-Emma and Angela had less time than him left on the clock, yet one won while the other had a very close loss.

I'm gonna eliminate "The Good-Luck Watch of Empress Eugenie." Janeen was way too hesitant and she's the real reason this team lost. No wonder Jay was yelling at her. Thankfully, Jay hauled ass in his time in the temple, and even got to the watch at the last second. If it hadn't been for Janeen moving too sluggishly, or for that production error in the Jesters' Court, this team could have won.

Great. If it wasn't hard before to eliminate runs... lol
I think I'll take out King Tut's Cobra Staff, due to Eusinia's goof. It was funny, but it cost them the win.

Pecos Bill's Lost Lariat really shouldn't be considered a top 45 run, thanks to Chris. That kid was so clueless. This run is gone.

My first elimination of the day goes to The Missing Eye of David. While it wasn't a bad loss, it happened to be a quick one. This run is gone now.

"The Golden Jaguar of Atahualpa" was funny for the mistake that Chris made in the Cave of Sighs, but this would've been a win had he not gone up to the Heart Room. Furthermore, the team was lucky to even reach the Jaguar and that Tracy was able to follow up on her partner's steps well.

"The Red Sash of Tokugawa Ieyasu" goes next. While the Blue Barracudas gave it a great effort, they made a few too many mistakes that cost this team a win.

Time for "The Pearl Necklace of Gwalior" to go next. Dawn and Ryan were a good team, but they were both too hesitant at times in the temple. This caused them to have a close encounter with the Pearl Necklace. Had they not hesitated so much, then they would've at least reached the artifact.

I know someone is going to be upset with this, but my second elimination of the day goes to The Enormous Iron Nose Ring of Babe. When I was looking at the remaining runs, I knew a win was going to go next. Referring back to my "Rank the wins" topic in the Heart Room, last among the wins on my list that remain in this game is Babe. While Joel was fast, he didn't have such a bright exit plan. Plus, he struggled mightily with the Silver Monkey. One thing you got to remember is that this layout saw a very easy bottom floor. You SHOULD be able to blow through that section of the temple (Claude and Kerry don't count!). I feel that this win is overrated and it needs to go now.

Yeah, good call getting rid of the Nose Ring run. I also find that win overrated.

As for my next elimination, "The Medal of Sir Edmund Hillary" goes next. Danny and Tara gave it a great effort, but it's just not as exciting as the other runs. Plus, Tara's exit strategy was pretty poor.

I am going to get rid of "The Snake Bracelet of Cleopatra" next. It seems to be the simplest win on the board, so I will take that one out first. Robert was very fast and didn't last in the temple too long. Tracy was decent, but she kind of stalled in a couple of rooms plus was kind of slow exiting the temple. This was a good team, but their layout was simplistic and forgettable.

Wow, that's a shock.

Since we're on a run of eliminating wins, I'll eliminate one too. Next to go is The Helmet of Genghis Khan. This win just doesn't stand out to other wins and strong losses. This one can go now.

"The Ruby Earring of Benzibab" was another simplistic winning that was not very exciting. I mean the only reason the team got out of the temple with over a minute left was because the temple layout was so easy. Plus, I found it to be a little boring.

Going to dump another easy win. Next to go is The Jeweled Scabbard of Sforza. The team had to go up the central column, but really, that's about it. Easy win.

"The Belly Button of Buddha" was a decent solo win, but it was hard to watch at times due to how slow Jennifer moved. Plus, she got pretty lucky that she didn't encounter another temple guard before the Treasure Room. Like I said, it was a decent win but not very exciting.

"The Trojan Horseshoe" is my next choice for elimination. It was a decent win, but it wasn't as exciting as some of the other victories. Besides, there are better runs still left on this list.

I find The Dragon Lady and the Blue Pearl to be a little overrated. Sure, Jennifer was fast, but you can't really say the same about her partner. You shouldn't waste that much time in the Treasure Room, even after a temple guard encounter. Albert never gave her much time in the first place. In the end, this is still a loss.

I guess I will take my second vote now, and with that I will get rid of "The Two-Cornered Hat of Napoleon". Just like "Polynesian Girl" and "Blue Pearl", this was an exciting temple loss and the team came very close to a win. However, it didn't help that Brian beelined for the artifact and Carly didn't try the Shaft-Shrine door completely. So in a way this loss was their fault. Still a good loss though, but not top 15.

You know, if Dragon Lady goes, then so does Henry VIII's Great Seal. I felt that this was a better team effort than the Dragon Lady run. However, there are better runs left and this one just doesn't stand out with the rest of them. Good loss, but not worthy of being around anymore.

"The Much-Heralded Helmet of Sir Gawain" will be the next run to go. Tiffani was a decent contestant, but she moved kind of slow for her duration in the temple. She is also lucky to not encounter a single temple guard with the path she took. I give her credit for dragging that big helmet out by herself, but in the end this run does not excite me like some of these remaining.

I'm kind of surprised The Leopard Skin Cloak of Annie Oakley made it this far. It was a good loss, but this run had the potential to be a win. Chandra never took any shortcuts and while Nick did a good job at getting where she got taken out in such short time, he made a couple of weird decisions. He unnecessarily swung on the rope in the pit and stuck the Storeroom key in the wrong place. Good loss, but it doesn't deserve to be in the top 20. It just misses out, and 21 runs remain.

Leah was equally responsible for that loss. She didn't take any shortcuts either.

"The Royal Torque of Queen Boadicea" goes next. It was a great loss, but Lissy sort of hesitated at the beginning. If she had moved a little faster, they could have won.

"The Very Tall Turban of Ahmed Baba" goes next. Shane was a good contestant and everything, but the strategy he used was not the greatest. The path he took would've been deadly had there been a guard in the King's Storeroom or Shrine. Just look at what happened to the "Belle Boyd" and "Annie Oakley" team when they took the long way.

Just like Annie Oakley, I'm very surprised The Bonnet of Dolley Madison made it this far. It should NOT have outlived Royal Torque. Both players in this run were good, but Matt beelining for the direct path and Ashley getting stuck in the Dark Forest cost this team a win. It should've been a win. Time for it to go.

Tall Turban was never removed from the list. Now it has been, and so has "The Snakeskin Boots of Billy the Kid." It was a great win by the Purple Parrots, but the other runs have something extra that makes it more exciting. Plus, Tony's exit strategy wasn't exactly the best either.

By the way, when do we start ranking these remaining runs? We have to be close to it by now.

There are 16 runs left. 15 will remain when I eliminate John Sutter and the Map to the Lost Gold Mine (activate flame shield!). While this was a good win, just like Snakeskin Boots, the other wins (and even losses) have a little something that makes them more exciting to watch than this win. Really, I don't get the hype for this win. Don't get me wrong, it's a good win, but just not that exciting and memorable, even with Jennifer's fall at the end. Sorry, but this one is gone.

Man, "Map to the Lost Gold Mine" should've definitely been in the top 10.  I guess you have to have a Gator or Jarrid on your teamto be a quality win. :?

I guess I will kick off the top 15 with "The Lion-Headed Bracelet of Chandragupta". Andrea was a solid contestant, but her run was probably the least memorable one left on the list. This win just doesn't stick out like the others.

Yeah, I don't understand the hate for John Sutter. Just because the players didn't move like Zac or Gator, doesn't mean it doesn't deserve recognition. This was Season 1 we're talking about. Where you're gonna see A LOT of "hit the actuator" rooms and easier wins. You can't expect that much THAT early in the shows run. It was a very exciting run, where both players were fast and knew exactly what they were doing. And it was especially memorable for Kirk's Fogg Ups and Jennifer's slip at the end. This run should have been Top 10, if not Top 5.

Anyways, the #14 spot goes to "Galileo's Cannonball." It was a great win, but I like the other runs better.

Anyway, taking 13th place is The Golden Earring of Henry Morgan. This was a very solid loss, but to me, it just doesn't stand out with the remaining runs. I think 13th is a good stopping point for it.

You probably don't think its a good win because it was a season one run and is not on par with other highly praised wins like "Apanuugpak" and "Pirate Captain". But maybe you should look at this run from Damian and Jennifer's perspective. They were one of the earliest teams on a show that they probably had no idea how it worked. No one was familiar with that show at that time, not even Kirk or the production team. Just look at how terrible all those early season one runs are because those contestants had no clue how the temple worked. But Damian and Jennifer were both fast given the circumstance they faced. Damian was very fast in his little time in the temple and Jennifer moved just as fast. Sure, she kind of struggled in the Shrine and completed the Torch Room objective for no reason. But Jarrid ran into the Secret Password with less than a half pendant and Ty completes the Viper's Nest for no reason also, but no one seems to point those events out. At least the highly praised season two and three wins had past seasons to look at in order to get familiar with the show. Put Zac, Gator, or Jarrid in Damian and Jennifer's shoes and I bet they would not be as amazing as they were in their respective episodes. Likewise, Jennifer and Damian could probably have won in later season layouts. They were a strong team in the whole episode and I could argue that Jennifer was one of the better girls on the show if we take the whole episode into account. Everyone seems to think you have to be Gator or Zac in order to be a good team, which is why contestants like Missy are always given a hard time.

But I am not expecting to change your opinion at all. At the end of the day, its just a game and it isn't going to change my views on this run. A lot of people love this win too and its not just me and PPF. But the run is gone now so it can't be brought back.

BTW, I am not mad at you or anything. I just wanted to share my views on why I don't think its an overrated run. But I don't want to drag it on for to long so I can accept that its gone now.  ;)

Moving on, I am getting rid of "The Metal Beard of the Egyptian Queen". It was a good Purple Parrot effort and TJ + Randy moved fast, but Randy's exit plan could've been better instead of trying to enter every room. Its hard to compare this to the other runs left, but I think the other runs have something going for them.

Well said TRJ. Though I think Jarrid, Zac, and Gator still would have taken on a Season 1 or 2 temple no problem. ;)

Anyways, just missing the Top 10 is "The Discarded Seal of Ivan the Terrible." While it was one of the best losses on the show, it is the last remaining loss still remaining. This layout was by far the hardest layout in the shows history, but a loss is a loss.

I think it's overrated because of so many "hit the actuator" rooms and other simple objectives. I think the only real objective that team completed was the Silver Monkey. However, I will admit that they did move fast and recovered from little mistakes very quickly. Good win, but too many simple objectives and rooms were completed in the John Sutter run. And no, I didn't eliminate that run because Damian and Jennifer weren't like Gator and Zac. Both Blue Barracuda players were fast.

Starting off the top 10 is The Applewood Amulet of Emiliano Zapata. It made the final two in the season 2 game, but I don't think it should have. It's a great win, but the team only entered six rooms and completed five objectives. Both players were really good, but Olivia-Emma could've doomed any chance of victory by missing the half pendant. They got a little lucky there. This was a solid win, but I think 10th place is a good stopping point for it.

Well, its not really their fault that the layout consisted of primarily hit the actuator rooms. That is just how most of the season one temple was set up. I think they would've fared well if it was Season 1 or Season 3. But like I said before, I will just move on. ;)

Out goes "The Levitating Dog Leash of Nostradamus." It was a strong temple team, but the layout was probably the simplest one left on this list. Jason was clever though for using the leash to get the rope and both were excitable contestants.

Wow, this is hard. They all deserve to win at this point. I hate to do this, but just missing the Top 5 is "The Lucky Pillow of Annie Taylor." It is an amazing victory done by Missy and one of the most memorable in the shows history. But, out of all the runs remaining, this is the easiest run left.

#6: The Lucky Pillow of Annie Taylor
#7: The Milk Bucket of Freydis
#8: The Secret Map of the Bandit Queen
#9: The Levitating Dog Leash of Nostradamus
#10: The Applewood Amulet of Emiliano Zapata
#11: The Discarded Seal of Ivan the Terrible
#12: The Metal Beard of the Egyptian Queen
#13: The Golden Earring of Henry Morgan
#14: Galileo's Cannonball
#15: The Lion-Headed Bracelet of Chandragupta

The Lucky Medallion of Atocha
The Lost Hornpipe of the Pirate Captain

I will take my second vote now and I will get rid of "The Jeweled-Encrusted Egg of Catherine the Great". Both Kris and Kristin were fast and exciting contestants in the temple. Kris made great progress in the little time he had and Kristin followed up on his path very well. But this temple layout was kind of simple also. I think #5 is a good stopping point for this run.

#5: The Jewel-Encrusted Egg of Catherine the Great
#6: The Lucky Pillow of Annie Taylor
#7: The Milk Bucket of Freydis
#8: The Secret Map of the Bandit Queen
#9: The Levitating Dog Leash of Nostradamus
#10: The Applewood Amulet of Emiliano Zapata
#11: The Discarded Seal of Ivan the Terrible
#12: The Metal Beard of the Egyptian Queen

#14: Galileo's Cannonball
#15: The Lion-Headed Bracelet of Chandragupta

I'll make my second elimination of the day as well. This is hard, but taking 4th is The Lost Hornpipe of the Pirate Captain. I'm doing this to make up for Apanuugpak not winning the season 3 game. Also, I'm pretty sure I enjoyed the other three wins more. Great win, but I like the other wins more.

#4: The Lost Hornpipe of the Pirate Captain
#5: The Jewel-Encrusted Egg of Catherine the Great
#6: The Lucky Pillow of Annie Taylor
#7: The Milk Bucket of Freydis
#8: The Secret Map of the Bandit Queen

#10: The Applewood Amulet of Emiliano Zapata

You know what? This is perfect - we have one run remaining from each season so instead of having the top two runs voted on, we will do the top 3. Same as before, we will leave the poll open for 24 hours. Whatever run has the most votes will be the winner. I will leave my vote anonymous as usual.

Would anyone be up for the worst temple run version of this game where we go by each season and determine the bottom 15 runs?

I wouldn't mind seeing a worst temple run version of this game. ;)

It would be a lot of work, but I say go for it. ;)

EDIT: Oh, and vote has been cast. But like always, I'll keep the vote anonymous. And yeah, I also love how the Final 3 is one win from each season. XD

It might have lost in the season 3 game, but The Mussel-Shell Armor of Apanuugpak is the overall winner!

*flutteryay* :3
And I just noticed something silly.
The three vote choices was a run from each of the three seasons! :mrteal:

Are you surprised that a certain run made it this far? Just curious, not trying to get a negative response. ;)

And if Lost Hornpipe was here, does anyone think that run would've won it all? I'm to blame for that not happening, and I'm sorry about that.

And it looks like our winner is The Mussel-Shell Armor of Apanuugpak! This is really a great win from one of the best players to enter Olmec's temple. Gator was amazingly fast and knew that three minutes is not enough time to take your own sweet time. If it wasn't for him, I bet this run would've ended in a loss. What a great run and it deserved to win.

I am not going to lie, I voted for "Lawrence of Arabia's Headdress" as my vote. I knew "Apannugpak" was going to win either way, but I still love this run also and over the years came to respect it more. This was another great Green Monkeys team and David was one of the best guys on the show too. Things were looking blight when he reached the Headdress with only 28 seconds left, but he hauled ass out of the temple and won with one second remaining. Great win!

here are my personal rankings:

#1: The Mussel-Shell Armor of Apanuugpak (good)
#2: Lawrence of Arabia's Headdress (good, but wouldn't have mind if this won)
#3: The Lucky Medallion of Atocha (switch with "Annie Taylor)
#4: The Lost Hornpipe of the Pirate Captain (good, I am kind of glad this didn't make it to the final 3 because it would've made the matchup kind of anticlimactic)
#5: The Jewel-Encrusted Egg of Catherine the Great (one lower, replace with "Atocha)
#6: The Lucky Pillow of Annie Taylor (place "Catherine the Great" here.)
#7: The Milk Bucket of Freydis (good)
#8: The Secret Map of the Bandit Queen (one lower, seriously Miriam was starting to become like Janeen and almost blew the run)
#9: The Levitating Dog Leash of Nostradamus (replace with "Map to the Lost Gold Mine")
#10: The Applewood Amulet of Emiliano Zapata (good)
#11: The Discarded Seal of Ivan the Terrible (place "Nostradamus" here)
#12: The Metal Beard of the Egyptian Queen (good)
#13: The Golden Earring of Henry Morgan (one lower)
#14: Galileo's Cannonball (one higher)
#15: The Lion-Headed Bracelet of Chandragupta (good I suppose)

#7: The Milk Bucket of Freydis (good)
#8: The Secret Map of the Bandit Queen (A little lower)
