Title: Figure It Out Revival
Post by: Red Jaguars Fan on March 17, 2012, 02:38:31 AM
Since the original is gone, may as well make a new thread. Post your opinions again.

As much of a bad idea as this looks like, we really can't judge until we see it. Maybe I'm alone on thinking this isn't too bad of an idea.

Agreed. Hard to have an opinion without actually seeing it.

I'll give it a chance, but like most people here, I'm not holding my breath.

Nobody here has seen Figure It Out? That show was fun. :)
A revival though, I think would be bad though. It wouldn't have the same buzz with the new Nick 'Stars' in comparison with the talent they had back then.

Well, we've all seen it before, just not the revival. And I do know what you mean about how "it wouldn't be as great as the original." But again, we can't really judge until we see it.

Oooooh. I read those wrong.
Wait there's already a revival??

Apparently, there's one in the making. At least according to Nickelodeon's Twitter, which I assume is legit.

Yeah, this thread is meant to discuss the revival of Figure It Out, which was revealed earlier in March.

I loved the original Figure It Out though and Summer Sanders is great. My favorite panelists were Amanda, Josh (Adventures of Pete & Pete), Danny Tamborelli, and Lori Beth. The revival would suck without them.

Me neither, well from Pete & Pete at least. If he meant Josh Server from All That, then yeah.
Oh, and take out Amanda and add Phil Moore, and you got my list. :3

I have a bad feeling.

From iCarly, Miranda Cosgrove!
From Victorious, Victoria Justice!
From T.U.F.F Puppy, Jerry Trainor!
And from Fairly OddParents, Tara Strong!

I hope they don't have any animated characters like they did with CatDog. It was so cheesy and stupid looking, and they were not funny. I won't be surprised to see a Spongebob panelist.

And yeah, CatDog was just a fail moment. Cousin Skeeter on the other hand was interesting.

There doesn't seem to be a news link to the announcement.

But yeah, I hope it'll be successful. It doesn't matter if it doesn't go back to it's 90s roots in aesthetic form, as well for game rules (no complete revamp from the show), but I'm sure it'll be a nice, warm summer laying on the couch or desk chair, watching full episodes of Figure It Out.

We can confirm that the Secret Slime Action is back:

And if just going off of that, the gameplay would likely remain (mostly, anyway) unchanged.

Most likely. I hope they have at least a special panelist from the 90's Nick for our generaton. Like Kenan or Kel..... Possibly Summer Sanders.

I would like to see Summer as a panelist also, and if would be a good nod to the older show. Wasn't Summer a panelists in the original show too? I forgot who take place of her as a host that time.  :mrred:

That's a good sign because the old format was a classic and I wouldn't really change anything about it.

I wonder what dumb talents we will see this time? Some of the ones I recall that were stupid were:

Sister eats cereal out of brother's chest bowl (WTF?)
A family that held a pageant for a crab (I think that is how it went)
The world's fastest bagger?

Not to say all of them were bad, there were actually some really good ones too like the Asian Girl who needed a translator.

3 things I do NOT like about this revival;

1) Saying its a new show. Thats like me saying Spongbob is the greatest show on Earth (F*** YOU SPONGEBOB)

2) The bumper from this video really didn't sit well with me. Don't get me wrong, I know its a new day and age and everything has to be updated for today's audience, but just something about it wasn't right. Probably just the logo but eh, what are you gonna do?

3) And this one was the most important...... WHERE THE F*** WAS BILLY THE ANSWER HEAD?!?!
Title: Re: Figure It Out Revival
Post by: The Red Jaguars on May 16, 2012, 11:03:54 PM
They are not bringing back Billy the Answer Head? What are they using for the message board then?  :?:

And I always use to crack up when they brought out Little Billy. Even though the contestant would win some lame prize if the panelists couldn't guess it correctly.

Yeah that would be nice. I have actually been watching some of the old season one Figure It Out episodes on Youtube right now. It looks like our very own TBF uploaded some of these episodes.

Watching them reminds me of how much I hate Marc Weiner. He was not even remotely funny and wasted time each round asking stupid questions. The Amanda-Danny-Lori Beth panel was the best.

Yeah, the trailer that TSM posted a page back looks like the remake is going to stay true to the original. Although it looks like they are going to try and make the new show more messier just judging from the promo.

I just hope we don't have over-the-top panelists in this new version. One thing I loved about the original was how panelists like Danny and Lori Beth could be serious and goofy all the time. I hated panelists like Marc who would waste time asking unfunny questions.

Wow, that is a lot of slime!  :o

I really hope they don't go overboard with the slime. The slime was nice in the original Figure It Out because you only saw it once each round for the most part. And most of the time, the panelists weren't intentionally trying to get slimed. But in the promo, it looks like they are giving a copious amount of slime from every corner of the panelists chair. And not to mention, it looks like the contestants are going to get slimed now too.

I wonder what changes they will make to the format? Perhaps they will create a new Charade Brigade this time around?

They should keep it that deep emerald green that we know and love, not this split pea soup green that looks like barf.

To be fair, the earlier episodes of Figure It Out had weird color slime like white and orange. They also used chocolate at times too. Plus, the slime early on in that show was almost next to nothing when a contestant got slimed. It was only later on in the season they changed to green slime and released more slime on the contestants.

Well, tonight is the night. I hope I can remember to watch it. I'm not sure if anyone here still encodes. If someone can, (not that it would make a difference to me), that would be great.

Well, the premiere's over, so here's some of my thoughts:

- Glad to see that the format was virtually unchanged. The only differences I noticed were that the 2nd and 3rd rounds were 45 seconds long rather than 60 and that the contestant can get slimed if the panel guesses a specific word (Did Pee Wee Herman have something to do with that?).

- Also nice to see that a few of the old sound effects were retained (the correct word and slime sound effects, to be specific).

- Kind of disappointed that both secrets were figured out. Hopefully it was just a fluke.

I know this is a tad late, but yesterday's episode was pretty good. I guess the panelists are pretty good guessers when they've guessed the first two secrets correctly.

Hey, I can't post the link right now, but they mentioned on the game show website Buzzerblog that the revival has drawn in 2.5 million viewers in it's first week! That proves that not messing with an original is better then an updating it (I.E  My Family's Got GUTS) :D

When I get a chance I'll post a link.

So, what were we so worried about, people? :D

I love it so far.  In response to TSM, I imagine the shortened time limits in the later rounds were to keep it from being too hard to get the grand prize, because the panelists are really good guessers so far.  Even with the set changes and the new panelists, it really has a lot of the same feel of the original.

As a side, I'm not sure if any of the panelists are really standing out to anyone, but I'm really hoping this show makes it clear that Nickelodeon's current lineup has great actors, but bad writing.  I honestly think a lot of these stars are great if you take them out of the shows they're in (Matt Bennett, for example, seems to really be standing out for me).

Yeah, it's been wonderful so far. We were worried for nothing. These panelists are great guessers. Though the first contestant on yesterdays show completely stumped everyone. I mean, literally everything was blank even after final guesses, I'm not kidding. Definitely has the same feel to the original, set changes and panelists aside.

And I agree that most of these actors (some of which I've never heard of) are actually pretty good. They've just fallen victim to poor writing. I've seen some of these actors (like Jennette McCurdy) in other shows, and they're pretty good. I don't think I'll ever get into shows like "Victorious" though. But still, I guess you can say it's not really the actors fault.

Nice to see the show is getting a second season. I haven't really followed it after the first three or four episodes, but that is a good sign that it will be reaching an additional season. ;)

I for one watched almost every episode of this past season. It's also good to see that the show did so well in the ratings during the first season of the "reboot." I can't wait for the new season to start up.
