The camera makes its way through lush greenery, and the palms move away as ambient animal noises are heard. Portions of a temple are shown, and suddenly the jungle ends, and we see Olmec?s face light up and shout, ?LEGENDS OF THE HIDDEN TEMPLE!?

The show?s title card?a pendant of life?crashes together on the screen, and the camera shifts to focus on the temple and its rooms. ?With your guide, Kirk Fogg! And here he is now!?

The pendant splinters and Kirk is seen crawling out of the Jungle Crevice to run right into the center of the stage and up the Steps of Knowledge as he begins his narration.

?Thank you, thank you!? says Kirk. ?It's nice to see you! Thank you, Olmec. Welcome to the Legends of the Hidden Temple. The rooms are filled with lost treasures that are protected by mysterious Mayan Temple Guards. Only Olmec knows the legend behind each of the treasures in his temple. Which one are we going to hear about today??

Olmec replies, ?The Legend of The Crumpled Sail of Jacques Cartier!?

?Woah, the Crumpled Sail of Jacques Cartier!? says Kirk. ?Well, one of these six teams will have the chance to retrieve the Crumpled Sail?will it be The Red Jaguars??

At this point, the camera focuses on each team as they are introduced.

?The Blue Barracudas??
?The Green Monkeys??
?The Orange Iguanas??
?The Purple Parrots??
?Or the Silver Snakes??

?They?re going to have to pass some tough mental and physical tests,? continues Kirk, ?and in the end, only one team will have the right to enter Olmec?s temple, but first they?ll have to cross the moat, and Olmec?s gonna tell us how they have to do it today.?

Olmec instructs:
?Before you is an ancient river raft and above it, a path of vines. When Kirk gives the signal, climb into the raft together and grab the vine in front of you. Then pull yourself to the next vine and do it again to cross the Moat. When you reach the other side, climb out of your raft, and hit the gong!?

Kirk hits the Silver Snakes? gong to demonstrate, which?in turn?lights up a bright silver.

?The first four teams to hit their gongs will go on to the next round,? finishes Olmec. ?Okay, teams!? calls Kirk. ?Are you ready??

The teams excitedly reply, ?Yeeaahhhh!?

Kirk then asks, ?Olmec, are you ready??

?Ever ready!? replies Olmec.

?Well, let?s get started then,? says Kirk. ?Teams! On your marks, get set? GO!?

?There they go, into the rafts?they?ve got to pull themselves only with the vines,? commentates Kirk as the six teams all scramble to get inside their rafts. ?It?s not easy,? reminds Kirk. ?These things spin!? He is right?the Red Jaguars? circular raft continuously spins as they pull their way across the Moat, while the Silver Snakes just quickly move forward, clawing at the vines. ?Orange Iguanas falling behind! Blue Barracudas and Green Monkeys are doing good?here come the mighty Purple Parrots!? We see a wide shot of the Moat?the Silver Snakes are in first place, being closely followed by green and blue, in that order. ?Here come the teams!? shouts Kirk as the Silver Snakes get out of their now water-filled raft and slam down on their gong. ?We?ve got our first team!? announces Kirk, right as two more gongs are heard?the Blue Barracudas and Green Monkeys have also finished. ?And our second and third?who?s gonna be our fourth?? A final gong answers his question. ?It?s the Red Jaguars! That?s it!?

We see Kirk standing beside the Silver Snakes, who are barely wet. ?The Silver Snakes fought hard?they came over here first,? he says. ?Going on to the Steps of Knowledge are the Silver Snakes?and the Green Monkeys?and the Blue Barracudas?and the Red Jaguars.?

?The Purple Parrots and the Orange Iguanas gave it a great effort as well,? he says, ?and they?re not going away empty-handed. We?ve got a great gift for them, and here?s what it is.?

Dee reads the prize:
?It?s a gift package from Nerds brand candy! The tiny, tangy, crunchy candy with INTENSE fruit flavors. Taste the magic, from the Willy Wonka Candy Factory!?

The screen transitions to a shot of the four teams atop the Steps of Knowledge. ?As the quest continues,? says Kirk, ?it?s now time for Olmec to tell us about The Crumpled Sail of Jacques Cartier. But teams?pay attention, because your knowledge of the legend can bring you a step closer to Olmec?s temple.?

Olmec narrates the legend:
?One of the greatest French explorers of the Exploration Age was Jacques Cartier. In 1534, Jacques set off on his first voyage to the New World. Though he landed in Canada, in the Gulf of Saint Lawrence, he was convinced that he had found a western passage to Asia. He was to find gold, but instead brought King Francis two natives.

??Ah, good to see you again, Jacques,? said the King as Jacques walked in front of his throne. ?So, what brings you here today??

?Jacques persuaded the King to fund his second voyage, and he set sail in 1535 with three ships and the two Iroquoians he had brought back. When he finally found the Iroquoian capital of Stadacona, he decided to stay for the winter. His ships got stuck in the ice when he tried to return, and some say that one of his ships? masts collapsed trying to get out.

??Monsieur!? yelled Jacques as he saw the mast about to collapse on one of the natives he had brought to France. The native turned around quickly, and ran as soon as he saw the falling mast.

??You saved my life,? panted the native. ?I am forever grateful.? When they made it back to France, the native told the King about Jacques? feat, and legend has it that the King was so impressed that he took the sail from the broken mast and hung it in his palace. Years later, it found its way to the Temple! Your goal is to find the Crumpled Sail of Jacques Cartier and bring it back here.?

?Okay, thank you very much, Olmec,? says Kirk after a short pause, ?but tell us?where is the Crumpled Sail??

?Oui! The Crumpled Sail of Jacques Cartier can be found? in the Wildebeests? Hideout.? reveals Olmec. The camera zooms in on the Sail, half-hanging, half-lying from the column holding up the wildebeests? head.

?All right,? says Kirk in response. ?Teams?you are now standing on the Steps of Knowledge. In a minute, Olmec?s gonna ask you a question. If you think you know the answer, stomp down on the ancient marking in front of you. If you?re right, you?ll move down to the next level, but if you?re wrong or run out of time, I?m gonna have to give the other teams a chance to answer. The first two teams that make it to the bottom level?? Kirk runs down the steps, then walks out of view ??will be one step closer to Olmec?s temple. Olmec, we?re now ready for your first question??

Olmec asks: ?Was Jacques Cartier?French, Spanish, or??

The Silver Snakes buzz in: ?French!?

?That is correct,? replies Olmec. ?Okay, step down, Silver Snakes,? narrates Kirk as he allows the Silver Snakes to move down to the second step. ?Next question.?

Olmec asks: ?Was Jacques Cartier?a cartographer, an explorer, or a fry cook??

The Blue Barracudas stomp down: ?An explorer.?

?That is correct,? declares Olmec. ?Step down, Blue Barracudas!? instructs Kirk as they also move down to the second step. ?Next question, Olmec.?

Olmec asks: ?Did Jacques Cartier explore?California, Canada, or Philadelphia??

The Green Monkeys ring in: ?Canada??

?That is correct,? says Olmec. ?All right, we?ve got a three-way-tie on the second step,? announces Kirk. ?Still plenty of time. Next question??

Olmec asks: ?To get from France to Canada, would you cross?the Pacific Ocean??

The Green Monkeys hit their marking again: ?The Atlantic? The Atlantic Ocean???

?? that is correct!? replies Olmec. ?Okay, now the Green Monkeys are just a step away from the Temple Games!? commentates Kirk. ?We?re still looking for our first team?who?s it gonna be? Next question.?

Olmec asks: ?When did Jacques Cartier set off on his first voyage: 1533, 1534, or 1912??

The Blue Barracudas buzz in: ?Um, 1534??

?That is correct,? answers Olmec. ?Ooh, now the Blue Barracudas are also just one step away from the Temple Games!? announces Kirk. ?Olmec, next question??

Olmec asks: ?When Jacques Cartier was making his voyages, who was the King of France?Louis XVI, Francis I, or??

The Red Jaguars interrupt: ?Uh? King Francis??

?That? is correct,? says Olmec. ?All right, the Red Jaguars?re on the board now,? comments Kirk. ?We?re still looking for our first team? Next question, Olmec.?

Olmec asks: ?Is a group of ships called?a barrage, a fleet, or a shipyard??

The Blue Barracudas stomp down: ?A fleet!?

?That is correct!? announces Olmec. ?We?ve got our first team going on to the Temple Games!? shouts Kirk as the Blue Barracudas jump down onto the bottom step. ?It?s the Blue Barracudas?nice work! We?re still looking for our second team, though, and there?s plenty of questions left. Next question??

Olmec asks: ?On his first voyage, was Jacques supposed to find?spices, silk, or gold??

The Silver Snakes ring in: ?Gold???

?That is correct!? replies Olmec. ?Okay, step on down, Silver Snakes!? urges Kirk. ?This match is really heating up? next question.?

Olmec asks: ?Did Jacques believe that he had found?a way to Africa, a way to Asia, or a way to the Temple??

The Green Monkeys buzz in: ?A passage to Asia.?

?That IS correct!? declares Olmec. ?These two teams are gonna be going on to the Temple Games!? shouts Kirk as he runs over to the teams on the bottom step. ?They are the Blue Barracudas? and the Green  Monkeys! The Silver Snakes and the Red Jaguars gave it a great effort too. They?re not going away empty-handed?we?ve got a great gift for them, and here?s what it is??

Dee reads the prize:
??It?s here?the official Legends: Wild Jungle backpack! Custom-designed and made to fit, never venture anywhere without the wildest backpack in the world! The official Legends: Wild Jungle backpack, from Nickelodeon and Jansport!?

The screen wipes to reveal Kirk with his hands on the two remaining teams? shoulders. ?These two teams are gonna be playing for the rights to enter Olmec?s temple,? he says, ?and they?re gonna do it?right after this!? We fade to a crane camera flying over the Temple Games floor, panning across the Temple. The camera stops right in front of Olmec, and the titlecard appears?the pendant of life forms as its halves crash together, before we fade to commercial.

The pendant splits and disappears, the camera zooms out from a spring bubbling on top of a rock ledge near the audience, surrounded by plants, and then we fade to Kirk and the two teams.

?Welcome back to Legends,? says Kirk, standing in front of The Vine Drop with the two remaining teams. ?Now the glory goes to the fastest and the strongest? so before we get started, let?s meet our teams. On the Blue Barracudas, we have Markus. It says here that you like making models?what kind of models??

?Um, like buildings and stuff,? says the tall boy with long, curly brown hair, ?and I usually make them out of anything I can, really.?

?What?s the best model you?ve ever made?? Kirk asks.

?Um, not really sure,? Markus says sheepishly.

?Okay, sounds good,? comments Kirk, turning to a much smaller-sized girl, with long black hair flowing past her shoulders. ?And your partner here, Katherine, does gymnastics. Tell me about that.?

?Well,? she explains, ?my mom put me in a gymnastics class when I was about six, and I?ve liked it ever since.?

?I think we?ve got a good Blue Barracudas team here,? declares Kirk. ?Let?s hear it for the Blue Barracudas!? The team claps and cheers along with the audience.

Kirk walks over to the boy on the Green Monkeys?an average-sized boy with blond hair and blue eyes. ?And over here on the Green Monkeys,? he continues, ?we?ve got Matt. It says here that you can play almost any sport?tell me about that.?

?I just like sports,? replies Matt, ?and I?ve been playing all kinds of sports for a long time.?

?Do you have a favorite?? asks Kirk.

?Um? probably lacrosse,? says Matt.

?Okay, that could come in handy here,? remarks Kirk, turning to his partner, a shorter, redheaded girl with freckles. ?And also, we have Erin. You told me that you love Lacuna Coil, and you want to start a rock band?why??

?I dunno,? she laughs, ?I just really want to start one?I think it?d be fun.?

?Okay, we?ve got some talented players over here!? shouts Kirk. ?Let?s hear it for the Green Monkeys!? The audience once again applauds, this time for the Green Monkeys.

?You guys ready to play?? Kirk asks. The players cheer and yell in response. ?Well, go get ready!? The players all walk off in different directions, disappearing from the camera?s view before Kirk continues.

?In the temple games, teams are competing to win pendants of life?? Kirk grabs a pendant out of his pouch and holds it up to the camera. ?The winning team will need those pendants to protect themselves from the dreaded temple guards, as they make their way through the temple. There are three temple games, and Olmec will tell us about Temple Game #1.?

Olmec explains:
?Jacques Cartier set out on his first voyage to find gold, but wasn?t so successful. Today, we?ve laid out a ton of gold? but it?s on the opposite side of an ocean. When Kirk gives the signal, cross the water using the stepping stones, grab a piece of gold from the opposite end, and then run back to the start and place it in your bucket. But be careful, because if you fall into the water, you?ll have to go back and start again. The team who collects the most pieces of gold at the end of 60 seconds? wins.?

?This could get a little wet,? notes Kirk. ?Let?s put 60 seconds on the clock!?

The clock bangs down into the corner of the screen. ?On your marks, get set? GO!? On this final word, the two boys spring forward onto the ?stepping stones?. Markus doesn?t expect the first stone to be so shaky, and loses his footing immediately, tumbling into the water. ?Oh no, the Blue Barracudas are already down!? exclaims Kirk. ?This gives the Green Monkeys a good chance to catch up?? [0:49] Matt pulls away in the lead, grabbing his first piece of gold from the opposite deck with 45 seconds left, and then places it in his bucket about six seconds later, right as Markus steps off onto the deck and grabs a piece of gold. ?It?s still a close race,? commentates Kirk. [0:32] Matt continues to quickly make his way across the floating blocks, placing only one foot on each to propel himself forward faster. Markus, now being more careful, goes much slower, trying to keep his balance more than trying to catch up. ?The Green Monkeys?ve got three pieces of gold now,? announces Kirk with 13 seconds left on the clock. Markus is just dropping his second piece of gold in his bucket when the audience begins counting down the last seconds. ?Ten? nine? eight?? counts Kirk with the audience. ?It?s gonna come down to this?can he get one more?? Matt is almost at the end of the path?but falls down face-first into the water below and the clock hits zero soon after. ?NO! That?s it!? shouts Kirk, running back into view of the camera.

?Come on over here, teams?? Kirk walks over to the stairway leading up to the path along the perimeter of the pool. ?Come down, easy does it? Let?s check out the scores?? Two spotters take the buckets and bring them down onto the Temple Games floor and Kirk kneels down in front of them to count.

?The Blue Barracudas got one? two? pieces of gold! And the Green Monkeys got one? two? THREE pieces of gold?that gives them the half pendant of life!? The audience applauds briefly before Kirk continues.

?Nice job,? he says, giving Matt a pat on the back. ?The Blue Barracudas can catch up in the next game. It?s worth a half-pendant? Olmec, tell us about it.?

Olmec narrates:
?Jacques Cartier sailed from France to Canada three times in his life. Luckily for you, you?ll just need to make one voyage. When Kirk gives the signal, roll your boat down the ramp and to the island. When you reach the island, plant your flag on it, grab the rope, and pull yourself back to shore. The first player to land both feet on the dock, or the player that?s further along at the end of 60 seconds? wins. But be careful not to touch the water?because if you do, you?ll have to go back and start again??

?Bon voyage, teams!? calls Kirk from the sidelines. ?Let?s put 60 seconds on the clock!?

The clock slams down into the corner of the screen. ?On your marks, get set? GO!? The boats immediately roll down the ramp, onto the Temple Games floor. ?They?ve got to get to that island and plant their color flag on it,? explains Kirk. [0:50] Erin makes it to the island just ahead of Katherine, planting her flag with ease, but then facing difficulties trying to turn her boat around. ?Oh, it?s gonna be a race to the finish!? declares Kirk. A wide shot shows the two boats heading back to the platforms at a rapid speed. ?Who?s it gonna be?? Kirk says as the girls come running to the center platform?but Erin jumps onto it just ahead of her opponent to end the game with 36 seconds remaining!

?She?s done it!? says Kirk. ?The Blue Barracu?uh, Green Monkeys made it back here first, so that gives them another half pendant of life! Nice job!? The audience cheers briefly as the players catch their breath.

?So now the Green Monkeys have a full pendant,? announces Kirk, ?and the Blue Barracudas don?t have any yet, but we?re going into the third and final game?and it?s worth a full pendant. Olmec, tell us about Temple Game #3.?

Olmec continues:
?During the exploration age, the only way to get a ship to move was by using sails. One of you is holding onto one of the sails from Jacques Cartier?s ship. When Kirk gives the signal, grab the sail, place it on the platform and slide it over to your partner?but if you don?t slide it hard enough, it will bounce back and you must try again. But if you grab the sail, hook it onto the pole and raise it to the top of the mast. The first team to raise the sail to the top of the mast wins.?

?Let?s get this sail raised,? says Kirk. ?All right, grab the sail, girls? and on your marks, get set? GO!? The girls immediately place the sails on the small platforms, attached to elastic cords, and push on them as hard as possible. ?Oh, Green Monkeys didn?t get it over!? But however, Markus catches the sail and tears it off the platform before it springs back. ?Oh, now the Blue Barracudas might be winning this game!? Kirk announces as Markus attaches the sail to the pole quickly. He pulls down on the rope beside it, raising it to the top of the mast?and ending the game!

?Okay, that?s it!? says Kirk, while the Green Monkeys are still trying to slide the sail over. ?That was quick? come over here, teams?? The players all run over to Kirk before he continues.

?Well,? he announces, ?the Blue Barracudas got the sail up to the mast first, so they get the full pendant! That gives them a pendant, and the Green Monkeys had a pendant?we?ve got a tie! Let?s bring out the tiebreaker pedestal!?

Two spotters wheel in the pedestal, and the teams take their places behind the gongs. ?Green behind that gong, and Blue behind this one? Okay, here are the tiebreaker rules. In a minute, Olmec will ask you a question. If you think you know the answer, hit the gong in front of you. You'll have three seconds to answer and I must accept your first response. If you're right, you and your partner will be going inside the Temple in search of the Crumpled Sail of Jacques Cartier, but if you're wrong or run out of time, I'll give the other team a chance. All clear?? The teams nod in clarification.

?Okay, then,? says Kirk in response. ?Olmec?your final question.?

Olmec asks: ?Were French prisoners kept locked in?the Bastille, the Versailles, or the Eifel Tower??

Katherine hits the gong and answers: ?The Versailles??

?That is not correct,? replies Olmec, and the Blue Barracudas? faces cloud over in disappointment. ?Okay,? says Kirk, ?Green Monkeys, your turn.? He holds the microphone up to the Green Monkeys.

Matt answers: ?The Bastille??

?That IS correct!? shouts Olmec. ?Oh, that is correct?the Green Monkeys are going to the Temple!? announces Kirk as the audience cheers. ?The Blue Barracudas gave it a good effort too?we?re gonna give them a great gift for their work, and here?s what it is??

Dee reads the prize:
?It?s $100 worth of Toys ?r? Us Geoffrey Dollars! A great gift idea?because they?re good as cash at any Toys ?r? Us store.?

We then see Kirk standing with the Green Monkeys. ?This team got the tiebreaker right,? he says, ?and now they?re going to Olmec?s Temple and retrieving that Crumpled Sail?right after this!? The screen fades to a hand-held camera shakily panning across the bottom floor of the Temple, past Olmec, and to some plants and flowers filling the gap around the ledge separating two levels of the set. The pendant crashes together, and then the screen fades to black.

The pendant splits, the camera zooms out from a crumbling, isolated rock pillar near the Moat, and then we fade to Kirk with his hands on the Green Monkeys? shoulders.

?Welcome back to Legends,? he says. ?Matt and Erin have proven themselves worthy and now have earned the right to enter Olmec?s temple. But first, Olmec?s going to give them some information to help them retrieve The Crumpled Sail? of Jacques Cartier. Olmec??

Olmec begins his rundown:
?You could start by climbing through the Tigers' Den and climbing down into the Vine Drop. Pull the right vine to raise the stone slab, then race into the Treasury of the Monkeys. Find the right bunch of bananas, and you could choose to go up into the Anaconda's Sanctuary, or into the Grand Marsh. Open the crocodiles? mouths to find the tongue, and you might have a chance to enter The Forest? of a Thousand Dragons. Reach into the dragon?s mouths and find the key?but be careful: one of the dragons might be inhabited by the spirit of a Temple Guard! If they grab you, you?ll have to give up a Pendant of Life. Next, plow through the wall and into the Secret Spring.

?There, climb up the Falls and into the Catfish Cove. Find the correct bucket, and open the door to the Shriiiiine? of the Silver Monkey. Assemble the statue, and you may be headed for the Lion Cave. Place yourself in the correct mouth, which will allow you into the Wildebeests' Hideout?where you can grab the Crumpled Sail. Turn the correct horn, and run across the Walk of Faith. Then, pass through the Room of the Tropicana Birds, race down the stairs, and back through the temple gates. The choices are yours and yours alone. You won one pendant in the temple games. Who's going first??

?I am!? shouts Matt.

?Very well, Matt!? replies Olmec. ?When Kirk gives the signal, you'll race through the gates into the temple, and make your way towards the Sail. Hidden inside the temple are temple guards assigned to protect three specific rooms. You can trade your pendant for an extra life and go on but if you're caught without a pendant, you'll be taken out of the temple... and it will be Erin?s turn to enter and try her luck. If you can reach the Crumpled Sail, all the doors of the temple will instantly unlock and the temple guards will vanish. Return through the gates with The Crumpled Sail of Jacques Cartier in three minutes, and you will both be handsomely rewarded?and here's how!?

Dee reads the team?s prizes:
?   For just going into the temple, you?ll both receive this sports package from Regent Sports! Whether it?s volleyball, soccer, badminton, basketball, or baseball, Regent is the name in games
?   If you can grab the Sail before three minutes is up, you?ll also receive a complete set of encyclopedias! The latest edition of World Book includes over 20 volumes packed with information and illustrations for school and family use alike. World Book?the number-one selling print encyclopedia in the world.
?   And if you can bring the Crumpled Sail out of the temple before three minutes is up, you?ll both be going to the Bahamas! The Bahamas Princess Resort, on the exciting Grand Bahama Island, offering tennis, swimming and international entertainment. Fun for the whole family, from Bahamas Princess Resort!

?The Bahamas!? repeats Kirk. ?Let?s see if we can get them there! Let?s get in position? Put your mouthpieces in? Let?s put three minutes on the clock!?

The clock slams down in the corner of the screen. ?Olmec,? says Kirk, ?please lower your gate.? The gate lowers as Olmec moans and the lights around him switch off. ?Okay, Matt. On your marks, get set? GO!?

?There goes Matt, into the Temple!? commentates Kirk as Matt sprints up the steps and heads past Olmec. ?They have one pendant?how far can it get them?? Matt immediately slides down into the Tiger?s Den, navigating the sharp rock formations in the ambient lighting. [2:53] He heads down through the Den, and then opens up the crawl tube to the Vine Drop, scrambling down through the tunnel to the stone floor of the Vine Drop. ?Okay, now he?s in the Vine Drop,? announces Kirk with 2:44 remaining. ?Which one of those vines is gonna open the door, or raise the rock slab?? Matt tugs down on the vines, moving from the right of the room to the left, and the second vine sinks down a little further than the others, pulling down a stone, hooked onto a bamboo contraption which in turn raises the rock slab, revealing a door. ?All right, now he?s gonna head into the Treasury of the Monkeys!? says Kirk, as Matt hits the actuator and then climbs through the doorway. ?In the Treasury, he has to find the correct bunch of bananas by putting it on the alt?TEMPLE GUARD!? Indeed, a Temple Guard jumps out of the room?s gloom in front of Matt. [2:29] Matt looks confused for a second, but surrenders his pendant and carries on. ?Okay, now he?s got to get to those bananas?? says Kirk, as Matt climbs the central ladder to grab the bunches of bananas off its rungs. He grabs two, and then takes them down to the altar. ?Which one?s gonna open the door?? Matt places the first bunch on the altar, then hesitates before placing the second. [2:13] The screeching laugh of a monkey is heard, the altar glows a fluorescent green, and the panel-door in the left wall opens up with 2:08 remaining. ?Okay, now he?s gonna head his way into the Swamp!? announces Kirk, as Matt climbs his way into the Grand Marsh?which Kirk misnamed?and wades through the murk.

He opens up the mouth of the first crocodile?it is empty. [1:55] ?Try another!? advises Kirk. Matt walks over to the second crocodile and opens its mouth. This time, a tongue falls out of it?and Matt pulls down on it to open the door to the Forest of a Thousand Dragons with 1:48 left. ?Okay, now he?s heading into the Forest of a Thousand Dragons,? comments Kirk. ?He?s gotta be careful?one of those dragons could be inhabited by a Temple Spirit?? Matt begins reaching into the mouths of the dragons, starting with one in the back-right corner of the room and moving his way around the room in a clockwise direction, ignoring the breakaway wall. ?Oh, he?s gonna look for that elusive key!? says Kirk. [1:30] Matt opens up the mouth of the fifth dragon, peering into its darkened mouth? and pulls out a magnetic strip?it?s the key! ?All right, he?s got it!? cheers Kirk as Matt places the key on top of a metal plate marked with a sun design around it. The golden panels forming the door to the Shrine of the Silver Monkey flip open, allowing access to a ladder hidden behind with 1:22 remaining. ?He?s heading up into the Shriiiiiiine of the Silver Monkey! He?s gotta put that monkey together now, and that?s always hard,? remarks Kirk.

Matt appears in the room, and then turns around to grab the base of the monkey a few seconds later. [1:13] ?It?s a three-piece monkey,? explains Kirk. ?First the base? and then the belly? and then the head?? Matt places the base in the pedestal, turning it around a couple times before it fits perfectly in the depression. [1:05] ?Now he?s got to get the second piece.? Matt returns to the back of the room, climbing on top of one of the boxes containing the doorway down to the Forest, to reach the middle piece of the statue sitting on a shelf. He brings it back to the front and once again spins it around a few times before finally placing it snug on top of the base. He finally grabs the head with 57 seconds remaining and slams it down on top of the two pieces already there to open the doors. [0:54] He heads through the mist-filled doorway into the Lion Cave and places his head under the upper jaw of the leftmost lion head. He is about to lean back on the actuator within it, but instead, two hands appear in a pair of holes in the rotatable panel, and it rotates to reveal a second TEMPLE GUARD with 44 seconds on the clock!

?Oh no, Temple Guard took him out!? groans Kirk as Erin heads up the Temple?s front steps, jogging behind Olmec and sliding down into the Tiger?s Den with 36 seconds remaining. ?She?s gonna have to make up a lot of time now if she wants to get to the Crumpled Sail?? Erin makes it through the crawl tube and sets foot in the Vine Drop, then pushes away the foliage in the room to get to the doorway opposite. [0:27] She climbs into the Treasury of the Monkeys, running through the room past the lit altar and into the doorway to the Grand Marsh with 19 seconds left on the clock. ?Now she?s going into the Marsh,? comments Kirk, as she climbs her way in and wades through the ?swamp water?, crossing the room. [0:11] ?Oh, I don?t think there?s time?? says Kirk as Erin enters the Forest of a Thousand Dragons with just seven seconds remaining, and begins to make her way up the ladder to the Shrine with only four seconds left. ?Time?s just almost up?? announces Kirk, right as the clock hits zero and Erin appears in the Shrine of the Silver Monkey. ?And it is!?

?They did a great job,? reminds Kirk, ?but those Temple Guards got Matt just one room away from that Crumpled Sail? they still get the sports package, and I know they had a great time here. We?ve gotta go?check us out next time for another great Legend of the Hidden Temple! Seeya!?

The credits begin to scroll as various ending scenes are shown: views of the foliage filling gaps in the set, shots of the audience, and an old miner?s lamp sitting among plants. Finally, the camera fades out, and the light bulb-Nickelodeon logo is shown as an electric buzzing noise is heard.

Post by: The Bamboo Forest on August 15, 2010, 04:11:54 AM
Artifact Name: The Crumpled Sail of Jacques Cartier
Location: The Wildebeests' Hideout
Result: Ran out of time
Time Remaining: N/A
Pendants Won: 1

The Moat crossing for this episode resembled something out of a theme park - the teams climbed into a circular raft together, and used a path of vines above them to pull themselves through the water. The Red Jaguars, Blue Barracudas, Green Monkeys, and Silver Snakes were first to gong in just 20 seconds or so. The Steps of Knowledge, however, were longer, with nine questions asked before the Green Monkeys and the Blue Barracudas advanced to the Temple Games.

The Temple Games were close and hard-fought. In the first game, teams went head-to-head crossing a pool of water on large floating blocks to collect pieces of gold. In the second game, teams raced to see who could get to an island on a boat, plant their flag, and return the fastest. The Green Monkeys won the first two games, but in the third game, teams needed to push a sail over on a sliding platform. Their partner then needed to grab it and raise it to the top of a mast. The Blue Barracudas did this flawlessly, and more importantly, first, sending the teams to a tiebreaker. However, the Blue Barracudas answered the question ("Where were French prisoners locked up in?") incorrectly, while the Green Monkeys did, leading them to the Temple.

Matt and Erin were not bad players, but they just had a tough layout. In fact, after analysis, it would have been almost impossible to win. Matt started off, making excellent progress speeding along the bottom floor until he reached the Forest of a Thousand Dragons. He slowed down his pace here, completing the room's time-consuming objective, but with the time being used wisely, as he took a shortcut to the Shrine of the Silver Monkey. He assembled the statue and headed into the Lion Cave... and was taken out with only about 45 seconds remaining. Erin also tried her best, but couldn't even reach the Lion Cave in the time she had left. But even if Matt wasn't taken out so late, there would be a big chance that Erin would've run into the third guard (granted, the lion that contained the Temple Guard wasn't the one that opened the door, but that's a 33% chance that Erin would get taken out of the Temple), but the guard was most likely off the correct path (i.e. in the Room of the Tropicana Birds, the Anaconda's Sanctuary, the Secret Spring, or the Catfish Cove), and would've caused a delay as well. Good team, but the producers wouldn't let them win.

Another episode with the winning team's players named Matt and Erin? (http://

Something I can't believe I barely comment on: The Steps of Knowledge.  This episode's Steps round wasn't anything standout, mind you, but it seems like you've been doing much better with generating questions lately, and I can't believe my mind didn't really process that until now. :P), and it seemed a bit more detailed in some parts than the average episode (though I'll admit I skimmed the Temple Games a little).

I noticed that, save for the room the team entered the temple in, the layout was an exact copy of The Bent Shaving Pan of Jedidiah Smith's.
