The camera makes its way through lush greenery, and the palms move away as ambient animal noises are heard. Portions of a temple are shown, and suddenly the jungle ends, and we see Olmec?s face light up and shout, ?LEGENDS OF THE HIDDEN TEMPLE!?

The show?s title card?a pendant of life?crashes together on the screen, and the camera shifts to focus on the temple and its rooms. ?With your guide, Kirk Fogg! And here he is now!?

The pendant splinters and Kirk is seen crawling out of the Jungle Crevice to run right into the center of the stage and up the Steps of Knowledge as he begins his narration.

?Thank you, thank you!? says Kirk. ?It's nice to see you! Thank you, Olmec. Welcome to the Legends of the Hidden Temple. The rooms are filled with lost treasures that are protected by mysterious Mayan Temple Guards. Only Olmec knows the legend behind each of the treasures in his temple. Which one are we going to hear about today??

Olmec replies, ?The Legend of The Crown of Carloman!?

?Oh, it?s The Crown of Carloman!? says Kirk. ?Well, one of these six teams will have the chance to retrieve the Crown?will it be The Red Jaguars??

At this point, the camera focuses on each team as they are introduced.

?The Blue Barracudas??
?The Green Monkeys??
?The Orange Iguanas??
?The Purple Parrots??
?Or the Silver Snakes??

?They?re going to have to pass some tough mental and physical tests,? continues Kirk, ?and in the end, only one team will have the right to enter Olmec?s temple, but first they?ll have to cross the moat, and Olmec?s gonna tell us how they have to do it today.?

Olmec instructs:
?Before you, a log spins, and above it hangs a path of vines. When Kirk gives the signal, step out onto the log, and grab on to the first vine. If you fall off the log, you must got back and start again. If you stay on, grab the next vine and make your way across the spinning log. When both partners have reached the other side, run over and hit the gong!?

Kirk hits the Silver Snakes? gong to demonstrate, which?in turn?lights up a bright silver.

?The first four teams to hit their gongs will go on to the next round,? finishes Olmec. ?Okay, teams!? calls Kirk. ?Are you ready??

The teams excitedly reply, ?Yeeaahhhh!?

Kirk then asks, ?Olmec, are you ready??

?Let?s rock!? replies Olmec.

?You heard the man, teams,? says Kirk. ?On your marks, get set? GO!?

The first player from each team starts reaching out for the first vine and stepping onto the log. ?You have to be on your feet all the time,? explains Kirk, ?because you?ll fall if you stop moving.? The Orange Iguanas lose their rhythm?and balance?and fall into the water with a large splash. The girl on the Purple Parrots, moving quick on her feet, skips her way to the end, becoming the first player to land on the opposite deck. ?Woah, Purple Parrots are blazing!? comments Kirk as a spotter signals for her partner to come across. ?But so are the Red Jaguars and Green Monkeys?and here come the Blue Barracudas!? The boy on the Red Jaguars and the girl on the Green Monkeys soon step off onto the deck as well, about 30 seconds into the Moat. ?The Orange Iguanas are catching up now,? says Kirk as the girl on the Orange Iguanas reaches the ? mark along the log. Meanwhile, the girl on the Red Jaguars is struggling to hold on, falling into the water. ?Looks like our first team is gonna be the Purple Parrots!? shouts Kirk. ?And it is!? A gong sounds as we segue to a shot of the Purple Parrots repeatedly slamming down on their gong and celebrating.

?We?ve got room for three more teams now,? declares Kirk. The girl on the Blue Barracudas falls off while her partner cheers her on from beside his team?s gong. ?OH!? moans Kirk. ?She almost made it? but she has to go back and try again! Silver Snakes really need to get a move on?they?ve still got to get their first park?partner across!? The Green Monkeys are second to hit their gong, followed seconds later by ??the Red Jaguars! They?re both going on to the Steps of Knowledge!? Now only the Orange Iguanas, Blue Barracudas, and Silver Snakes are left on the Moat, and the mist above the water begins to thin. ?Oh, this sure is tough!? comments Kirk as the boy on the Orange Iguanas falls into the Moat, much to the disappointment of his partner on the other side. ?Oh, looks like our fourth team?s gonna be the Blue Barracudas!? The girl on the Blue Barracudas reaches the end, and sprints over to slam down on the top of her gong, lighting it up. ?We?ve got our four teams!? shouts Kirk.

We then see Kirk run over to greet the Purple Parrots. ?Purple Parrots were over here like a flash!? he remarks. ?Going on to the Steps of Knowledge are the Purple Parrots?and the Green Monkeys?and the Blue Barracudas?and the Red Jaguars.?

?The Orange Iguanas and Silver Snakes gave it a great effort too,? he says, ?and they?re not going away empty-handed. We?ve got a great gift for them, and here?s what it is.?

The screen transitions to a shot of the four teams atop the Steps of Knowledge. ?As the quest continues,? says Kirk, ?it?s now time for Olmec to tell us about The Crown of Carloman. But teams?pay attention, because your knowledge of the legend can bring you a step closer to Olmec?s temple.?

Olmec narrates the legend:
?In 768, Charlemagne and his brother Carloman, sons of Pepin the Short, both became King of the Franks. The two constantly fought and argued about who was the true heir of their father. But legend has it, Carloman was always overshadowed by his brother and was disliked by his people.

??I?m so tired of this!? he shouted in anger one day. ?Charlemagne gets all the attention, blah, blah, blah. I rule with him! I do the work he does! Why don?t I ever get any credit??

Carloman came up with a plan. When he was to meet his people, he would steal Charlemagne?s crown.

??I know that little rascal cares too much about his appearance,? thought Carloman to himself. While Charlemagne was getting dressed?which usually took hours?Carloman grabbed the crown and put it upon his own head.

?When Charlemagne finally noticed, he screamed. ?Where?s my crown?? he frantically shrieked. ?WHERE?S MY CROWN?!?

?Carloman, wearing his brother?s crown, greeted his people outside with a big smile of satisfaction. But just then, Charlemagne pounced on him. ?AGHHHH!?

?The two fell to the ground, and Charlemagne tried desperately to grab his crown, but accidentally knocked it into the crowd instead, and it disappeared. Your quest is to find the Crown of Carloman and bring it back here.?

?Thank you, Olmec,? says Kirk after a short pause, ?but tell us?where is this Crown??

?The Crown of Carloman can be found? in the Treasury of the Monkeys.? reveals Olmec. The camera swoops past rooms along the bottom floor of the Temple, finally reaching the Treasury, and fades to a close-up of the crown sitting atop the altar.

?Okay then,? says Kirk in response. ?Teams?you are now standing on the Steps of Knowledge. In a minute, Olmec?s gonna ask you a question. If you think you know the answer, stomp down on the ancient marking in front of you. If you?re right, you?ll move down to the next level, but if you?re wrong or run out of time, I?m gonna have to give the other teams a chance to answer. The first two teams that make it to the bottom level?? Kirk runs down the steps, then walks out of view ??will be one step closer to Olmec?s temple. Olmec, we?re now ready for your first question??

Olmec asks: ?Was Carloman?King of the Franks, King of France, or King of the Frankfurters??

The Blue Barracudas?s step lights up: ?The King of the Frankfurters??

?Incorrect,? replies Olmec, as some audience members laugh.

The Green Monkeys ring in: ?King of the Franks.?

?That is correct,? says Olmec. ?Okay-hay, step down, Green Monkeys!? instructs Kirk, trying very hard to suppress a laugh himself. ?Next question??

Olmec asks: ?Was Carloman the son of?Pepin the Tall, Pepin the Short, or Pepin of the??

The Green Monkeys stomp down again: ?Pepin the Short??

?That is correct!? replies Olmec. ?And just like that, the Green Monkeys are one step away from the Temple Games!? announces Kirk as the Green Monkeys move down to the third step. ?Olmec, your next question.?

Olmec asks: ?Carloman ruled the Franks with his brother??

The Purple Parrots cut him off early: ?Charlemagne???

?? that is correct!? answers Olmec. ?Purple Parrots are on the board,? comments Kirk. ?Next question, Olmec.?

Olmec asks: ?Was Charlemagne also known as?Charles the First, Prince Charles, or??

The Green Monkeys ring in: ?Charles the First??

?That is correct!? shouts Olmec. ?We?ve got our first team going to the Temple Games!? announces Kirk, as the Green Monkeys step down to the bottom step and immediately celebrate. ?It?s the Green Monkeys! But remember, we still need one more team?who?s it gonna be? Next question??

Olmec asks: ?Which of these empires did Charlemagne lead?the Mongolian Empire, the Holy Roman Empire, or the Great Olmec Empire??

The Purple Parrots stomp down hesitantly: ?The Holy? Roman Empire???

?That IS correct!? declares Olmec. ?Woah, pulled it outta the clutch!? comments Kirk as he watches the Purple Parrots move down to the third step. ?Next question.?

Olmec asks: ?According to our legend, were Carloman and Charlemagne fighting about: who was their father?s favorite, who was their father?s heir, or the crowns they got??

The Purple Parrots buzz in: ?The? who was their father?s heir??

?That is correct!? bellows Olmec. ?These two teams are going on to the Temple Games!? shouts Kirk as he runs over to the teams on the bottom step. ?They?re the Green Monkeys? and the Purple Parrots! The Red Jaguars and the Blue Barracudas gave it a great effort?it was a tough match, the Green and Purple wouldn?t let them answer. But we?ve got a great gift for them, and here?s what it is??

The screen wipes to reveal Kirk with his hands on the two remaining teams? shoulders. ?These two teams are gonna be playing for the rights to enter Olmec?s temple,? he says, ?and they?re gonna do it?right after this!? We see the camera back sweep past the teams and Kirk, heading up the Steps of Knowledge and then panning over to show the Moat with the audience in the background. The titlecard appears, and then we fade to commercial.

The pendant splits and disappears, we zoom out from some exotic-looking flowers near the Moat,  and then we fade to Kirk and the two teams.

?Welcome back to Legends,? says Kirk, standing in front of The Vine Drop with the two remaining teams. ?Now the glory goes to the fastest and the strongest? so before we get started, let?s meet our teams. On the Green Monkeys, we have Jennifer. Uh, says here that you play the violin?tell me about that.?

?Um, well, I?ve been playing since fourth grade,? says the fair-haired, pale-skinned girl, ?and I also play guitar, but I kinda like violin better.?

?And why is that so?? asks Kirk.

?Well, it?s sort of easier,? shrugs Jennifer. ?Like, there?s less strings on a violin and stuff like that.?

?Oh, okay,? replies Kirk, turning to her slightly shorter partner with curly brown hair. ?And over here, we?ve got Vincent. Now, Vincent, you play baseball and softball, but you also?you?re also working on a comic book, is that right??

?Uh, yeah,? replies Vincent. ?I?ve been working on it for about a month now, and I?m about? halfway done.?

?What?s the book about?? Kirk then asks.

?Um, it?s about a superhero, but his powers always work at the wrong time,? says Vincent.

?Sounds like a good comic to me,? remarks Kirk. ?Let?s hear it for the Green Monkeys!? The audience applauds for the team while Kirk moves on to the short, brunette girl on the Purple Parrots.

?And over here on the Purple Parrots,? continues, ?we have Kristy. It says here that you like to write?so, what, um, what do you write??

?Mm, mostly short stories and poetry,? answers Kristy. ?I?m working on a novel but I really prefer shorter things.?

?Oh, okay, sounds good,? says Kirk, turning to face the last player. ?And also, we have Daryl. Now Daryl, you?re into photography, aren?t you??

?Uh, yeah,? says the slightly taller, dark-haired boy. ?I got my first camera when I was 10 and I?ve been interested in it ever since.?

?You have a favorite thing to take pictures of?? Kirk asks.

?Um? not really,? shrugs Daryl.

?Okay, let?s hear it for the Purple Parrots!? yells Kirk. The audience cheers briefly before Kirk continues.

?Everyone ready to play?? Kirk asks. The players cheer and yell in response. ?Well, go get ready for your games, and I?ll hang out here with Mr. Olmec and explain what?s gonna happen?? Kirk waves the players off in different directions, who all walk off-camera.

?In the temple games, teams are competing to win pendants of life?? Kirk grabs a pendant out of his pouch and holds it up to the camera. ?The winning team will need those pendants o protect themselves from the dreaded temple guards, as they make their way through the temple. There are three temple games, and Olmec will tell us about Temple Game #1.?

Olmec explains:
?Carloman was so jealous of his brother, Charlemagne, that he stole his crown. Before you is a much more elaborate way of stealing crowns?but along with it is trouble. When Kirk gives the signal, crawl out onto the first cube and grab a crown. Then come back, drop it in your bin, and do it again. On your journeys, you must avoid the swinging obstacles. If you are hit, you must go back and start again. The first player to steal all four crowns, or the player that steals the most crowns at the end of 60 seconds wins.?

?Charlemagne sure did have a lot of crowns,? comments Kirk. ?Let?s set the clock for 60 seconds!?

The clock slams down in the corner of the screen. ?On your marks, get set? GO!? Daryl and Jennifer both begin crawling, but Jennifer is immediately clobbered by a sandbag slamming into her side. ?OH!? groans Kirk, almost as if he was hit himself. ?The Green Monkeys got hit, gotta go back, but the Purple Parrots having no trouble so far?? [0:52] Daryl grabs the first crown and returns it to his basket in less than 15 seconds, and Jennifer places her first crown in her basket with 42 seconds to go. ?Now it gets harder?it?s four times the distance they have to travel as compared to the last time now,? calculates Kirk. [0:36] The Purple Parrots maintain their lead over the Green Monkeys?until they are hit while grabbing a third crown with 17 seconds remaining. ?Oh no, it?s gonna cost them!? comments Kirk. ?This gives the Green Monkeys a chance to catch u?oh, but they got hit too!? Indeed, Jennifer is also hit and sent back. Both players scramble forward, dodging the first swinging obstacle?but we?re OUT OF TIME!

?Alright, stop right there!? shouts Kirk as he runs over to the baskets. ?Let?s count up the scores!? He peers into the bin marked with a green circle first and takes out the crowns. ?The Green Monkeys have one? two crowns? aaaaaand the Purple Parrots have? one? two crowns! It?s a tie?they each get the half pendant of life!? The audience cheers and the players high-five each other.

?Let?s see if we can break that tie in the next game, though,? says Kirk. ?It?s also worth a half-pendant?Olmec, tell us about it.?

Olmec narrates:
?Charlemagne and Carloman, like any two siblings, fought often?with rocks. Today, you?ll be doing the same thing. When Kirk gives the signal, hurl the rocks through the net and through the hole on your opponent?s side. If you miss, grab another rock and throw it. You may block your opponent?s shots, but you may throw only your color rocks. The player that gets the most rocks through the hole at the end of 60 seconds wins? and the other player will have to think up their own revenge plan.?

?Even kings suffer from sibling rivalry,? says Kirk. ?Let?s put 60 seconds on the clock!?

The clock slams into the corner of the screen. ?On your marks, get set? GO!? The players start jumping up and down in their enclosures, trying to toss rocks through the center hole. ?You can block too!? reminds Kirk as he continues to watch red rocks?from the Purple Parrots?and cream-colored rocks?from the Green Monkeys?fly everywhere inside the cage. [0:42] The Purple Parrots, having already scored five rocks, are yet to miss, while the Green Monkeys have only scored thrice. ?This is difficult?they have to throw it through the center hole, past their opponent, and then into the hole in the back to score!? shouts Kirk. The score is now 7-4 Purple with 23 seconds remaining, and the Vincent?now running out of rocks?is just having trouble aiming. He finally sails a fifth rock through the hole above Kristy?s head, but a second later, the Green Monkeys score again. The audience begins to count down the final few seconds, and Kristy manages to score an eleventh time right before the clock explodes?TIME IS UP!

?Okay, I have a feeling I know who?s won this fight,? says Kirk as he runs over to meet the tired players climbing out of the tents. ?The Purple Parrots got 11 and the Green Monkeys only got 5? so the Purple Parrots get the half pendant of life!? Kristy pumps a fatigued fist in the air as the audience cheers.

?So now the Purple Parrots have a full pendant,? continues Kirk, ?and the Green Monkeys have a half. This next game is worth a full pendant?whoever wins this goes to the Temple?and it?s our third and final game. Olmec, tell us about it.?

Olmec continues:
?Carloman was hardly a successful king, but luckily his brother was much better, leading his army through many battles. Today, you?ll have to make your way to the battlefield, but the route you?ll be taking is through a maze of four portions: the Camp, the Jungle, the Lake, and the Tower. When Kirk gives the signal, the first player will start off and tag his partner when he reaches the end of the obstacle. When you reach the end of the Lake, both partners must climb the Tower together and hit the gong at the top. The first team to land four feet on the Tower?s deck and hit their gong? wins.?

?? and goes to the Temple,? finishes Kirk. ?No clock for this one, so get in position, boys? On your marks, get set? GO!? Daryl and Vincent start off, having to conquer the Camp, an area wedged between two walls filled with broken tents and other junk strewn all over the place. ?They have to climb their way to the top!? explains Kirk. This isn?t as easy as it sounds?the entire pile shakes as the players dig their hands and feet into it. The Green Monkeys are first to make it to the top of the slide, and Vincent makes his way down onto the blue mat first, about 20 seconds into the game. He stands up and slaps Jennifer on the hand, right as Daryl slides down. ?The Green Monkeys are going into the Juuuuuuungle!? says Kirk, stretching out the word as Jennifer launches herself into the frame filled with elastics, going low to avoid most of the cords. Kristy is much slower than her opponent, pushing the cords out of her way as she walks through the jungle. ?Oh, the Purple Parrots are just gonna tackle that Jungle,? comments Kirk. Jennifer is first out of the Jungle, and Vincent begins to run toward the Lake. Seven seconds later, Kristy emerges from the end of the Jungle, sending Daryl in a mad dash to the pool?which Vincent is already halfway across, splashing and wading his way to the other side. ?Purple Parrots are gonna have to do some catching up now!? shouts Kirk when Vincent gets out of the Lake, just as Daryl makes it to the halfway point. ?Oh, it?s gonna be a race to the top of the Tower, now!? says Kirk. The Green Monkeys, now reunited, begin climbing the Tower, made up of a large box without handholds or footholds and a taller cylindrical portion embedded with holes to form a ladder. Vincent helps his partner up to the top of the step first, jumping up and down on the trampoline at the foot of the Tower to do so, before he gets pulled up. The Purple Parrots, with a sense of urgency, rush over to the Tower and do the same, but the Green Monkeys are already scaling the ladder, reaching the precariously-perched platform first. They slam down on their gong?they?ve finished and the game is over!

?That?s it!? shouts Kirk. ?That?s it! Stop right there teams. Come on down?spotters, help them out?? The next shot shows the four players suddenly on the ground, walking over to Kirk.

?All right,? he continues. ?The Green Monkeys got up to the tower first, so they get the full pendant. That gives them a pendant and a half?the Green Monkeys are going to the Temple!? The audience explodes in applause as Vincent and Jennifer high-ten each other and hug in celebration.

?Great job!? praises Kirk. ?The Purple Parrots fought all the way, they never gave up? We?ve got a great gift for their efforts and here?s what it is.?

Dee reads the prize:
?It?s a $100 savings bond from Skechers Footwear. Makers of fun, exciting, cool shoes, sneakers, and boots. Skechers?it?s the ?S?!?

The plug fades to Kirk standing with the Green Monkeys. ?The Green Monkeys are gonna go to Olmec?s Temple,? he says, ?retrieve that Crown of Carloman?right after this!? The camera zooms out over the entire set, before switching to a hand-held shot running past the bottom floor of the Temple. The camera focuses on the Crown, sitting on top of the Treasury?s altar, and then we fade to commercial.

The pendant splits, the camera zooms out from the plants behind the Temple Gates and Olmec, and then we fade to Kirk with his hands on the Green Monkeys? shoulders.

?Welcome back to Legends,? he says. ?Vincent and Jennifer proven themselves worthy and now have earned the right to enter Olmec?s temple. But first, Olmec?s going to give them some information to help them retrieve The Crown of Carloman.?

Olmec begins his rundown:
?You could start by climbing through the Tigers' Den and climbing down into the Vine Drop. Pull the right vine to raise the stone slab, then race into the Treasury of the Monkeys. Find the right bunch of bananas, and you could choose to go up into the Anaconda's Sanctuary, or into the Grand Marsh. Open the crocodiles? mouths to find the tongue, and you might have a chance to enter The Forest? of a Thousand Dragons. Reach into the dragon?s mouths and find the key?but be careful: one of the dragons might be inhabited by the spirit of a Temple Guard! If they grab you, you?ll have to give up a Pendant of Life. Next, plow through the wall and into the Secret Spring.

?There, climb up the Falls and into the Catfish Cove. Find the correct bucket, and open the door to the Shriiiiine? of the Silver Monkey. Assemble the statue, and you may be headed for the Elephant?s Cave. Find the peanut and feed the correct elephant, which will allow you into the Wildebeests' Hideout. Turn the correct horn, and run across the Walk of Faith. Then, pass through the Room of the Tropicana Birds, race down the stairs, and back through the temple gates. The choices are yours and yours alone. You won one-and-a-half pendants in the temple games. Who's going first??

?I am!? shouts Jennifer.

?Very well, Jennifer!? replies Olmec. ?When Kirk gives the signal, you'll race through the gates into the temple, and make your way towards the Crown. Hidden inside the temple are temple guards assigned to protect three specific rooms. You can trade your pendant for an extra life and go on but if you're caught without a pendant, you'll be taken out of the temple... and it will be Vincent?s turn to enter and try his luck. Hidden inside the temple is the other half of your pendant. If you can find it, and you?re carrying the other half, you will get an extra life. If you can reach the Crown, all the doors of the temple will instantly unlock and the temple guards will vanish. Return through the gates with The Crown of Carloman in three minutes, and you will both be handsomely rewarded?and here's how!?

Dee reads the team?s prizes:
?   For just going into the temple, you?ll both receive this iPod Shuffle! It?s compact, colorful, and can hold up to 4GB of songs. Voice-over tells you the song that you?re listening to! It?s the world?s smallest talking media player, from Apple!
?   If you can grab the Crown before three minutes is up, you?ll also receive a complete set of encyclopedias! The latest edition of World Book includes over 20 volumes packed with information and illustrations for school and family use alike. World Book?the number-one selling print encyclopedia in the world.
?   And if you can bring the Crown out of the temple before three minutes is up, you?ll both be embarking on a Baja Mexico cruise! Sail the Baja Mexico on the largest cruise in the world, on Carnival Cruiselines! Fun activities on-board including dining for the entire family. From Carnival Cruiselines.

?Let?s see if we can get this team to Mexico!? shouts Kirk. ?All right, Vincent, you?re going first, so let?s get in position? you too, Jennifer?mouthpiece in. And let?s put three minutes on the clock!?

The clock slams down in the corner of the screen. ?Olmec,? says Kirk, ?let?s lower the gates.? The gate lowers as Olmec moans and the lights around him switch off. ?On your marks, get set? GO!?

?There she goes, into the Temple!? says Kirk, starting his commentary as Jennifer jogs up the stairs past Olmec. ?Which way is she gonna go?up or down?? Jennifer chooses to slide down the slope behind Olmec into the eerily-lit Tiger?s Den, climbing her way through the spaces in the rocky room. [2:53] ?Oh, she?s gonna try to go to the Vine Drop,? commentates Kirk. Jennifer squeezes her way through the sharp ledges, opening the door leading to the Vine Drop. She crawls her way through the tunnel and ends up on the stone floor of the Vine Drop. ?She has to pull those vines, and hopefully one of them will raise the slab?? Jennifer moves from the right of the room to the left, pulling down on each vine along the way. The third vine drops down lower than the first two, activating a bamboo-themed mechanism which raises the stone slab, uncovering a door. [2:37] Jennifer hits the actuator four times, but the door still doesn?t open. ?She tried to go straight to the Crown, but that door?s not gonna let her in,? commentates Kirk, ?so she?s just gonna have to try another door?? Jennifer then tries to climb the ladder to the door of the Anaconda?s Sanctuary and hits its actuator?but it doesn?t open either. ?GO BACK!? yells Vincent from the sidelines, as the clock hits 2:12. Jennifer finally retreats down the ladder and re-enters the Tiger?s Den, searching around in its darkness before finally heading up to the Room of the Tropicana Birds.

[1:55] ?She lost some time in the Vine Crevice,? says Kirk, misnaming the room. ?But she can make it up if she moves!? Jennifer hits the beak of the leftmost bird in the room, slamming open the door with 1:49 left on the clock. She cautiously makes her way down the stairway to the edge of the Walk of Faith, and then moves across the vine bridge, swaying dangerously from her movements. ?Now she?s gonna head herself up to the Wildebeests? Hideout,? comments Kirk as Jennifer opens up the door on the other side of the bridge and begins heading up the stairway. [1:36] She appears in the room moments later, walking over to the central wildebeest head. But from the back of the room, out jumps the first? ??TEMPLE GUARD!? exclaims Kirk as the guard grabs hold of Jennifer from behind. ?Give him your pendant and go on!? Jennifer hands the guard the pendant, and then, somewhat confused, makes her way back to the head and turns both horns, and the camera shows the slab on the left dropping down to allow access to the other stairway. [1:21] She slowly jogs down the stairway, appearing in the doorway of the Elephant?s Cave with 1:14 on the clock. She heads towards the front of the room, but the center panel flips over to reveal the second TEMPLE GUARD!

?Temple guard!? Kirk shouts again. ?Go, Vincent, GO!? Vincent immediately tears up the Temple steps and heads straight to the Room of the Tropicana Birds. [1:01] He races through the room and down the stairs, but hesitates before stepping onto the treacherous-looking Walk of Faith. ?He?s got to make his way across that Walk of Faith quickly,? says Kirk as Vincent makes his way across the bridge, taking the biggest steps he possibly can. He finally reaches the other side, and then heads up the stairway. [0:47] Vincent appears in the Wildebeests? Hideout, maneuvering around the head to reach the opposite doorway, and jogs down the set of twisting stairs. ?Now he?s in the Elephant?s Cave,? observes Kirk as Vincent enters the room with 36 seconds left on the clock. He opens up the first box, perched on a small ledge attached to the front railing. Finding nothing but straw, he moves over to the center box, this time being faced with a large peanut. ?All right, he?s got the peanut, now he just has to find the right elephant!? shouts Kirk. Vincent places the peanut in the center elephant?s mouth first, but the mouth doesn?t close after a few tries. [0:22] ?Try the other ones!? Vincent moves over to the rightmost elephant, and its mouth clicks shut when Vincent tries to close it this time, and the door to the Shrine of the Silver Monkey rumbles open with 15 seconds left. Vincent rushes into the room, filled with fog from a mister spewing it out in the back of the room. Vincent grabs the base of the monkey first, positioning it in the pedestal. [0:08] ?Oh, just a few seconds left?? says Kirk as the audience counts down. Vincent grabs the middle of the monkey, placing it on the wrong way first, but before he can correct himself, we?re OUT OF TIME!

?Ooh, time?s up!? winces Kirk. ?They did a great job in the Steps and in the Temple Games?and they still get the iPods for trying. We gotta get outta here now?check us out next time for another great Legend of the Hidden Temple! Buh-bye!?

The credits begin to scroll as various ending scenes are shown: shots of the Elephant?s Cave, and other shots of the Temple and of the Green Monkeys talking to Kirk. Finally, the camera fades out, and the light bulb-Nickelodeon logo is shown as an electric buzzing noise is heard.
Title: Wild Jungle EP: The Crown of Carloman
Post by: The Bamboo Forest on August 10, 2010, 08:54:06 PM
Artifact Name: The Crown of Carloman
Location: The Treasury of the Monkeys
Result: Ran out of time
Time Remaining: N/A
Pendants Won: 1.5

This episode started off with the (usually fairly long) Moat crossing in which players made their way across the Moat using vines and a spinning log. The Moat was, of course, edited down, evident from the mist disappearing from the water, which usually only happens after prolonged periods of time. The actual Moat crossing shown took just under two minutes, but the color combination at the Steps was finally confirmed after the tiring Moat: Purple-Green-Blue-Red. The legend revolved around Carloman I and his more famous brother, Charlemagne. The legend itself was rather comical and was a departure from what the show usually produced. Either way, the Steps of Knowledge featured a hilarious answer by the Blue Barracudas (just watch it and see what I mean, even Kirk was trying very hard not to break out in laughter :P The Green Monkeys and Purple Parrots were once again paired to face-off.

The Temple Games... well, what can I say? Finally, the first game isn't the Maze game (although a variation of it does appear later). Instead, it was the common "swinging sandbags" game where the players collected crowns while having to avoid the obstacles. The teams tied the game with two crowns apiece. The second Temple Game had the players hurl rocks through a hole in the wall forming the boundary between the two teams and then throw another hole behind their opponent to score points. The Purple Parrots won this game. But in the last game, which was a FOUR-part obstacle course instead of a three-part one this time, which was set up more like a relay, the Green Monkeys took victory and went to the Temple with a pendant and a half.

When the artifact's hidden in the bottom of the central shaft, you can usually predict that it's going to take some work to get to it. But this team obviously didn't know that and immediately went for the direct path instead. Jennifer went down to the Tiger's Den and the Vine Drop, and obviously the door behind the stone slab didn't open. After mucking around in the room for most of nearly a minute, she backtracked and headed up instead, meeting two consecutive guards in the Wildebeests' Hideout and the Elephant's Cave; the latter removed her from the Temple with 1:11 left. Vincent didn't make much additional progress in the time he had left, however. Time ran out when he was assembling the Silver Monkey.

Trivia and Records
The hidden half-pendant is nowhere to be seen in this episode.

Well, that Temple Run was a bomb. :D Ordinarily I wouldn't penalize players for trying the direct path when the artifact's in the central shaft, but it wastes so much more time if the layout features a divided pit... and overall this showed just how terrible of a move it could be.  Still, at least the Steps of Knowledge were priceless.

It makes you wonder how the hell the Blue Barracudas even made it on the show to start with, doesn't it?

Pretty good job!
