This time, Viacom are really pushing it too far.

If 600 people in 21 different contries throughout the world have watched a Viacom movie, they're gonna send 600 people out to track them down? Well, face the facts, I think almost every Nickelodeon, MTV, PAramount, etc. lover has watched a Viacom video on YouTube. So now they're gonna track down three million people?

What's next? Sue me for going to Paramount's Canada's Wonderland cause it used to be owned by Viacom?

CRAZY!

I'm DEFINITELY AGAINST this new ruling. Viacom continues to impinge on our civil rights to privacy with their legal maneuvers, and we need to let them know that WERE NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS SHIT LYING DOWN!!!

Can't Viacom get along with anyone?

This is an invasion of privacy, IMO. Allowing them to use your IP address to look up personal info who watches one of their videos on the internet. Seriously?

This is definately one of those moves to the "Brave New World" future. An act like this makes you wonder how long we have before they install security in all of our houses to make sure we don't violate copyrights....

and it'll go on from there.

^Next thing we know:

Newsflash: Viacom to install 6.5 billion security cameras!

The world-famous Viacom plans to install a security camera INSIDE each and every person of this world. Additional ""brain altering machines"  change the Viacom lover's mind will be installed into the member's of Phantom's Temple's heads.

Not in me they won't! My name isn't "The_Enforcer" for nothing. My name means that I'M THE ONE who doles out the pain, NOT THE ONE who's going to take it like some scared bitch. (NOTE: the above is a RANT, it's NOT directed at ANYONE)

Now, directing at the forum as a whole, We NEED TO FIGHT THIS to the bitter end. We need to take a firm stand and tell viacom that their legal practices are WRONG and that WE WONT take this lying down.

This responce borders on flaming, but at the same time, I 100% agree with this. There is not much we can do in the world of big business, but what we can do is support this movement to stop Viacom before they take away our privacy.

This is scary. I mean, they can look through everything? That's just wrong. What if someone violates this new rule (or whatever this is) and doesn't know about it? What if someone just clicks on a link to a youtube video, not knowing if it's viacom owned or not, and gets in trouble for it? I think that if anyone should get punished for violating whatever viacom has enforced, it should be whoever uploaded it. Isn't there some kind of law against this stuff?

Indeed there is. This is beyond illegal, this is unconstitutional. That's why there is so much support to, not only oust this action, but to boycott Viacom.

Right now, they are flooding YouTube with video responses and flooding the judge's mailbox.

Invasion of privacy is much worse than copy right infringement. But when your goal is to line your pockets with gold, that is rather insignificant.

I'm not against the copyright infringement deal but going through what we watched on youtube is plain sick.  How are we even supposed to know what were watching on youtube is copyrighted or not?

According to YouTube's own blog Viacom has backed down and will not be receiving anyone's information, IP address, or viewing history. THANK GOD!!!  :)

Viacom doesn't even make sense when they say that.

You mean "1984". 1984 was the in-home security, Brave New World was mindwashing.

I'm just SO RELIEVED that they won't be getting their grubby hands on OUR PERSONAL (and therefore PRIVATE) information.

And another look on the bright side: they haven't messed with our websites or the forum, both of which they could legally close for copyright infringement.
