I'm stuck between 1 & 2. 3 sucked, but I think 2 was my favorite.

Season 2 was definitely my favorite, only because of the variety in the rooms throughout it. It also had some memorable temple runs.

I would have picked Season 3 second, actually, because the theming and camerawork was especially well-done. It had a different amosphere around it, which was great. Unfortunately, the great setting was undersupported by the inconsistency in temple runs. It seemed like every run was either a 'Dried Apple Half of William Tell' or an 'Ivory Hunting Horn of Roland.' The temple games, especially that huge series of episodes with the boring rock-pushing game, could have also used some more variety.

Season 1 I just didn't like. It felt really unprofessional, and a large number of the temple runs were absolutely terrible ('Cricket Cage of Khan,' 'Blackbeard's Treasure Map,' 'Elizabeth the First's Golden Ship,' and the like). Luckily, we were spared those episodes in the latter seasons.

I have to say, season 2 is also my favorite. It's classic to me, the most memorbal part of my childhood. Most of my early life is fuzzy, but I can still remember Olmec's pre temple run advice.

I just didn't like Season 3 because the rooms didn't change. I sorta liked Season 1 too.

I really disliked season 3, but it's still Legends, so it's all cool. Like when I saw it for the first time on GaS, I was so pumped with how cool it looked, but than I saw more pathetic episodes & didn't like it.

I voted for Season 2. Season 3 would probably be my 2nd choice, as thats a pretty good season IMO. Season 1 was okay, but like nicklegends said, it was pretty unprofessional and had pretty weird layouts that differed completely from the other 2 seasons.

Season 1 is the best for comedic value.

Season 2 is the best for production value.

Season 3 is the best for Olmec's mouth squeaking value.

I like season three, it had three of my favorite rooms, The Shrine, The Jester's Court, and The Pit of The Pendulum

Season 2. Best variety of rooms.

Season One had its problems, but let's be honest; every TV show suffers in its first season.

I vote Season Two due to the changing rooms and because I thought Kirk descending from the ceiling was kinda cool.

Even when I was a kid, I disliked season three. Season two is my personal favorite. The variety of rooms, interesting temple runs, and the almost absence cheesy humor by Kirk Fogg (season three) made this season my favorite. The temple games were also pretty interesting. Season one gets second place for me.

I enjoyed how the temple seemed to age throughout the show. It had a golden look in Season 1. A rustic look in Season 2. And finally an Ancient look in Season 3.

Yeah, Season 1 the set was pretty bright but in the later seasons it was a bit darker.

Season 2 by faaaaaaar!

The temple layouts where the best. It wasn't too light (season 1) and it wasn't too dark (season 3). Plus, the Purple Parrots where on of the more dominant teams! <333

Season 3 would be my second choice. Gotta love the temple gaurds grabbing the kids in the Room of the Ancient Warriors and The Chamber ofthe Scared Markers.

Season 1 wasa good introduction to the show, but it was too easy and the kids still couldn't win...

Yeah, the Purple Parrots won the most in Season 2, Seasons 1 and 3 only had like 2 episodes where they'd make it to the temple.
Title: Favorite Season?
Post by: The Purple Parrot on June 30, 2006, 03:21:45 PM
Actually, Orange won the most in season 2. They went to the temple 10 times i think. Purple and Blue tied for second with 7 times each, but that's good! Season 2 had a good variety. Season 1 had too many red and silver runs. Season 3 had an obnoxious amount of green runs and not enough purple.... I can't believe they only got to the temple 2 times in the first and third season each... Sad...

No, I meant out of the times Purple Parrots went into the temple ever Season 2 they seemed to go in the most. I agree Season 2 did have a good variety of teams entering in. Season 1 was too much of the red jaguars and the Silver snakes. And Season 3 the Green Mokneys went in waaaaaaaaaaaay too many times.

I also liked Season 1. Olmec's voice sounded much deeper and cooler and there were a lot of different temple layouts, although of course a lot of the rooms were useless.

ex: Room of Golden Idols/Tresure Room
Heart Room (although there were a lot of guards in that room)
The Holes of Python (that had to be the worst room ever!)

IMO, the most useless rooms in Season 1 were the ones where all you had to do was press an actuator.

The actuator rooms in the first season:
Room of the Three Gargoyles / Room of the Royal Gongs (basically)
Cave of Sighs
Wall Climb
Troubled Bridge
Heart Room / Room of Fallen Columns
Room of the Golden Idols / Treasure Room (basically)
The Treacherous Swamp / Spider's Lair / Bamboo Forest / Holes of Python (tough to traverse, though)
part of the Mine Shaft / Dungeon / Well

The actuator rooms in the third season:
The Ledges
part of the Quicksand Bog

It's pretty shocking, really, putting them side-by-side. It shows me how strong the third season contestants really were.

Good point.  That's why so many of the 1st season episodes are difficult for me to watch.  C'mon, guys, you're struggling with a bunch of "hit the actuator" rooms?

Like you said about the Holes of Python, at least The Room of the Fallen Columns tried to make a challenge to it.

What other stuff? The legends and games were most probably chosen before the season began taping, so there's no time taken out there... I think the crew just got a bit lazy. They could have at least changed things around just a little...

I am very sorry, tss101, but I have to be your nemesis.  I love Season 1 (Lawrence of Arabia's Headdress, Galileo's Cannonball, the Star of Sultan Saladin, John Sutter and the Map to the Lost Gold Mine), and you despise it.  In Season 3, I like the wins (such as the fantastic Musselshell Armor of Apanupac) but I can't stand the losses.  It was a tough descision between Seasons 1 and 2, but I would have to say Season 1.  There were more victories in Season 1 than any other season.

At last, I have a worthy nemesis.

I don't "despise" season 1 per se, it's just that it has more unwatchable episodes, for me at least, and even some of the wins don't get me that interested.  While I put in my vote for 3 (the single layout doesn't bother me...it's not like I watch entire seasons back-to-back), I hesitate to single out a season too much either for great episodes or bad ones, because...well, let's face it, they ALL had their share of good and bad.

You've gotta figure though, in season one with all the "hit the actuator rooms" they were relatively new to the contestents, and I'm sure the kids in the later seasons watched enough of the show to know how the temple is laid out and where to go etc.

I mean a perfect example is the episode I watched yesterday, "Keys To The Alhambra" I'm sure if she would've watched a show or two, she would've figured to climb up into the shrine, instead of backtrack, then it looked like she just panicked and lost her marbles.

Also, you figure in the first season, there probably wasn't that much interest in the show, therefore the talent to pick from probably wasn't there as it was in later seasons.

When you think of that, how many people do you think signed up with the intention of winning the competition, instead of something to do for fun.  When you watched the show, I'm sure you always wanted to compete and win, so you'd figure the kids down in Florida probably were doing the same thing, and gave them something to motivate them.

I think Season 2 is the best, but Season One is not as terrible as everyone makes it out to be.

I liked Season 1 just for the fact that it had a lot of funny moments in it. Plus it seemed like the kids were older in the first season.

Speaking of which, I have a question for the hardcore fans. Was there a visible age gap between the seasons? It always seemed like the kids were older in the first season.

The only reason I enjoyed this was because they could make more entertaining temple games because the contestants were older.

I saw an episode in season 3 yesterday and during the temple run the girl wasted about 5 seconds trying to jump up and grab one of the pieces of the Silver Monkey because she was so short.

Sorry if I sound ignorant..not trying to be.

They certainly did have an age gap between episodes. Season 2 peculiarly seemed to have both the younger and older contestants, but it's only in my head--I don't have any proof.

I think the proper way to think about it is by number of number of room areas that had actuator objectives.

Rooms with an actuator objective are counted as 1.  Rooms with a different objective are counted as 0.  The Room of Golden Idols, the Pit of Despair/Troubled Bridge and the Rock Quarry/Troubled Bridge are each counted as 0.5 due to their objectives not being actuator based going a certain way.  The Tomb of Ancient Kings and the Dark Forest are counted as 0.5 as well since, for these purposes, I've counted the rock wall as an actuator-based door since no objective needs to be done to open it.  The Season 2 Throne Room is considered actuator-based, but not the Season 1 Throne Room.

Layout I: 6
Layout II: 6
Layout III: 6
Layout IV: 6.5
Layout V: 6
Layout VI: 6
Layout VII: 6
Layout VIII: 6
Layout IX: 5
Season 1 Average Layout: 6
Layout X: 6.5
Layout XI: 5.5
Layout XII: 4
Layout XIII: 4.5
Layout XIV: 4.5
Season 2 Average Layout: 5
Season 3: 2.5

Season 2 is my favorite. The temple layouts were the best and the most interesting to watch and it seemed like Kirk and Olmec were more adjusted to the game. Kirk seemed a bit unprofessional during Season 1, but I guess since it's Season 1 he obviously wasn't adjusted.

Season 2. They were still switching up the rooms of the Temple to get some variety, and this was when Olmec's voice wasn't unenthusiastic (Season 1) or deep and always yelling (Season 3). The Temple Layouts weren't too difficult or too easy. I think Season 2 makes for the all-around best season of the Legends.
Title: Favorite Season?

...So I posted here but I never actually voted?

I'd have to say my favorite was Season 2, but with Season 3 as a very close second.  As much as I liked the moderate variety and all in Season 2, there were a few things that were better in Season 3: the tone of Olmec's voice (with the bad side effect of less intelligibility), the Temple layout (the thought of keeping a consistent layout for fairness wasn't THAT bad, and hard as it was to get through, this might have been the best layout the show featured), and some of my favorite Temple Games (although it seemed like there weren't as many different ones as in Season 2).  The historical inaccuracy and cases of extreme leniency at the Steps dragged it down a little, along with some of the contestants, but what can you do, really?

So yeah, Season 2 since it seemed to hit the happy medium in the variety department, and also featured many of the most memorable episodes. :P
