Post by: The Mandarin Hand on May 13, 2007, 09:52:48 AM
When episodes of Legends start airing on Nickelodeon tomorrow (May 14), episode discussion will take place here.  Nick GAS airings will be discussed in the old thread.

Oh, and just for the record, NO discussion of episode order will be in this thread.  There's a thread (stickied, too) in the Pit for that.

Is it just me, or is the quality better on Nickelodeon as compared to Nick Gas???

And the Nick logo was at the bottom of the screen, but it barely covered the clock, and you could still make out the numbers on the clock.

I still think GaS' is better to watch on GaS (if you have it) and  (if you wanna sit through boring commercials) because no TV Y logo after breaks, and no Logo over clock (anymore) And at least for me its better video quality since its on DIGITAL Cable..lol  At least the Fan base can grow now faster than ever!  keep this in mind: If Nick Airs Legends M-F from now on, it will take us till approx Nov 2 to get all 120 episodes from Nick Airings.

Have you ever seen an episode on nick gas and not on your computer. Sorry if I'm sounding like an idiot but no ones ever pointed out that episodes on the computer look different than ones on a television screen.

Well see the thing is, is I haven't watched Nick Gas at my house, so I have never seen the quality on my television I have at my house.

But I have watched it on other TVs at different times and the quality just isn't there.

There are too many variables, but from my experience, the quality was better on my TV as compared to the other two or three.

Get a load of this.  I think I noticed some "speed-up" at the beginning of today's episode.  This is when the playback machine is used to speed up the tape that is being aired.  The result is that people sound like they're on speed.  Anyone who watched the Game Show Network in 2001 and 2002 would know what I'm getting at.

I guess I didn't catch that.  Good call by Renegade who picked the correct show today.  Impressive.

I'm also thinking Kirk Fogg seems very relaxed doing the show in Benzibab and Catherine.  And how about ending the third season with two successful temple runs???

Nice.

Something else I just noticed. "The Jewel-Encrusted Egg of Catherine the Great" also featured a relatively quick team victory (0:24 remaining.) Fourth fastest, the only three quicker ones were "The Jeweled Scabbard of Sforza" (0:29 left,) "Robin Hood and Marian's Ladder" (0:33 to go) and [of course] "The Ruby Earring of bin-Zibab."

You're probably meaning to say "there's a 74% chance" as opposed to using the word "predicament," which means a difficult situation and the like. But I shouldn't digress any further. What leads you to believe that it's the Good-Luck Watch? (Perhaps I've missed something?)

Too bad Janeen was so scared during her temple run, otherwise she might've gone faster, plus taking forever in the pit of the pendulum hurt as well.

Also, you could hear a spotter or something yeling to the kid where in the Jester's Court he was supposed to go.

Another tidbit, in all three shows this week, the middle symbol in the Jester's Court has completed the task, coincidence?

Then Jay and Jennifer would make a pretty good team.
Title: Daily Episode Log - Nickelodeon
Post by: The Mandarin Hand on May 16, 2007, 01:55:13 PM
The difference between them, though, is that Jay was a really good player.  Jennifer was just average.

I mean, Nicholas was doing pretty well in the Temple, and Jennifer just screamed.  The way Janeen was moving, well, I was yelling at my TV almost as much as Jay was.

But for some reason, Kirk said "you can't doddle around in the Temple" in "The Melted Head of Madame Tussaud" but didn't say it in "The Good-Luck Watch of Empress Eug?nie." I mean, whoever said Janeen looked like she was afraid to smash the pots in the King's Storeroom was right! Plus, it took her a while to wade out of the Pit.

But i feel kinda bad for the team, cause they were cheated out of a very close win.  Had the production error in the Jester's Court not occurred, Jay would've grabbed the Watch with 0:21 left.

Yeah, and then it would have been a 4 on 4 day. But everyone loses when artifacts are @ the bottom of the central shaft. I hope I can catch tomorrows episode early enough, I woke up @ 6:40 (CST for me) this morning [for some odd reason] and managed to catch the whole second half of the 'Good Luck Watch' episode.

Yeah, but almost all of the other seven times it was the players' fault screwing up in the Temple. (Take not, I'm not counting "Elizabeth the First's Golden Ship" cause I'm starting to believe the producers didn't hide the other half Pendant.) This time it should've been a win if not for the producers' screw-up.

Also, as I pointed out before, the name of the historical figure in this game's episode is spelled with an ? instead of e. It should be "Eug?nie," nicklegends.

Does anyone really think it was a production error in the Jester's court?  I think he didn't hit all three buttons at the same time.

Plus Jay's not making it out of the temple in 21 seconds.

I blame the lack of time to bring the artifact back through the temple, 100% on Janeen because of her fear of temple guards.  She got scared pulling the book in The Crypt.

I always feel terrible for Janeen whenever I see this episode. First of all, the poor girl got terrified of the skeleton's in the Crypt (something weird with the microphones was happening, I'm guessing. When Jay is in the Shrine you can hear the sound of the pieces of the monkey hitting each other loud and clear) and then she has Jay yelling at her the whole time.

I think I probably wouldn't be able to concentrate either if I were in her shoes.

Ah but CLEARLY it was in the Pit.   They even zoomed up to it earlier.

This episode was a little disappointing, only five rooms to get to the artifact??  Plus I really dislike how the Green Monkeys got to give a three page essay, from both teammates to get the question correct.

Also, that horse riding temple game I give two thumbs down.

Here's a question, was this filmed on the same day as the last four episodes?

This temple games and run were very disappointing.  The two teams weren't very athletic which is disappointing for the older age group.

The Orange Iguanas were WAY too slow during this run. Just plodding along through the temple isn't good enough, and Kirk Fogg even agreed.

I believe they would have had a shot if she would have tried the Dark Forest > Shrine path. Even if the Tree would have taken her, the second runner wouldn't have had to plod through Pharoah's passage.

It still didn't matter, the movement through the temple was WAY too slow to accomplish anything.  He would've saved 15 seconds max, which would've maybe gotten him the bone.

Post by: The Ancient Warrior on May 21, 2007, 04:06:44 PM
Yeah, no matter how long the path to where your partner left off is, chances are it shouldn't take a full minute to get there.  I realize Brittany took eight seconds just to enter the Crypt, but I can't help but think Damien is more to blame for this loss than her.

The Bullet-Riddled Handbag of Belle Boyd

Now, I think Leah and Matthew could've gotten to the handbag, if not brought it out the way they were moving, if they didn't go down the entire central shaft (The door to the Chamber of the Sacred Markers opened when Leah knocked over the column in the Pit of the Pendulum) and if Matthew took the Bog-Shrine passage. (Granted, it might not have opened, but Matthew never tried it, simply beelining for the Pharoah's Secret Passage)
Title: Daily Episode Log - Nickelodeon
Post by: TBombMadeEZ on May 22, 2007, 06:11:11 AM
This temple run was just a case of bad luck.

Both were very fast, but Leah simply didn't hit enough temple guards in time.  I think she got taken out with less than a minute left.  It also didn't help that she didn't go into the Chamber of the Sacred Markers first, because that would've saved some time.

This was just bad luck on the placement of the artifact, temple guards, and time.

Sorry to go back to a previous day but I had one quick comment:

I meant if the front runner had taken the Dark Forest route she would have:

A) Been taken out (which wouldn't have been a loss seeing as they had 2 pendents), hard to say what Damien would have done but they would have had about 55 seconds and 3 rooms to complete. (When I say shot, I mean just getting to the bone, it's obvious they are not winning.) A slim window of opportunity.

B) She gets through the room to be axed in the Shrine, Unless Damien was a moron he wouldn't have then bothered the Pharaoh's room and most likely would have at least entered Medusa's Lair, and hilariously pulled a Catherine de'Medici's causing the already angered Fogg to shout expletives (One can dream).

Then again it's hard to defend a guy who tried to climb through a ladder as opposed to up it.

The Pearl Necklace of Gwalior

I really liked this episode. Kinda felt like that's how I'd do on Legends. See, where Ryan went wrong was deciding to go first. If it had been up to me, I would have gone in second, I just would have had to hope that Dawn could get to the Shrine fast enough to be taken out and giving me enough time to get to the bog. Anyway, I'm really enjoying seeing all of these episodes, it's almost like a string of new episodes for me, since I haven't seen any since 1996.

The Blue Barracudas made a HUGE comeback in the Steps of knowledge to get into the temple games, and their height lead to their victory.  The Blue Barracudas were so tall!

They were SO close to getting the necklace.  A missed swing here, not knowing what door opened there, a stumble, and the head not jamming on for some reason, all lead to the demise of the Blue Barracudas, who should've reached the artifact.

This was one of the best steps of knowledge I have ever seen, and who invited the cheerleader on the Orange Iguanas?  Purple made an AWESOME comeback on the steps, only to choke during the temple games.  I thought it was interesting they paired not according to gender in the temple games, but athletic ability.

The temple run was a bit to be desired.  To expect a team to go all the way up the center shaft in order to get to the corner of the temple is not cool.  Also Nick took WAY too long in the Tomb, and in the Room of the Ancient Warriors. He knew the temple guard was there in the middle suit of armor, but wasted 20 precious seconds not going into it.

The chick was going nuts though during the run, which I thought was pretty cool, and she looked pretty fast going through the temple as well. Can't expect too much when you have under a minute to go.

Oh my goodness, what a gripping temple run, which ended in disappointment.  First gripe, why send them down into the quicksand bog after completing the shrine???

Second gripe is that she put the Monkey together so flawlessly, she deserved a better fate.

Third gripe, my boy Fogg told her where the half pendant was, when he screwed up and said Dean passed up the half pendant, and she still didn't pick it up.

This team did fine, a little bad luck in the Crypt, the Pit, and the Chamber which ticked off valuable seconds, did this team in.

Oh yeah, and you gotta grab that half pendant when it's that obvious.

Off topic question, why did the top door in The Pit, that leads to the King's Storeroom, not open when the objective was completed?
Title: Daily Episode Log - Nickelodeon
Post by: The Ancient Warrior on May 27, 2007, 10:44:16 AM
Sorry if I sound Chauvinist in any way, but usually the boy is smart and the girl's slow-witted, but it was the other way around here.  Dean tried to put the sacred markers in the wrong places i think, and he wasted time in the Pit too.  Chrystine was pretty good and fast thou, but I hated the cruel layout they had to go thru!

There's only four episodes where they had to completely revolve around the top corner room, but this one was the first one of those four I ever saw.  I remember thinking Chrystine was in the clear when she got into the Shrine, only one room away, no more chances of being taken out, but then the door didn't open and she climbed down right into the last Temple Guard's hands.

As a side note, out of the fourteen "triple seizure" Temple Runs, this one had the least time on the clock at the moment of capture.

What a comeback!!!

Purple Parrots with an amazing comeback in the Temple Games, and finishing it off on the tiebreaker pedestal.  I thought for SURE the Parrots were going to choke again.

In the temple, a good run, but an easy and a lucky one at that.  This run mrrors the Secret Map of the Bandit Queen run, minus how long it took to get out.  The girl for the Purple Parrots took a weird way out of the temple, but she was very fast running through it.

Yeah, with no audience watching probably one of the best temple runs.

Let's not forget how close the Blue Barracudas were to advancing from the steps of knowledge.  We would've never had this fantastic run from any other team except this one.

How excited is Amanda during the run and where is a belt for Gator?

Amanda always looked like she kind of had Downs or something after the run, what with the really loose helmet.

Well, perhaps they'll run out Season 3 and then move into the other seasons? If the show is popular enough that they want to keep the most recent version on, then that's a good sign.

EDIT: By the way, I doubt they'll jump to 106B... surely they'll just keep season 3 going and then we'll see another definite pattern.

How devastating was this loss???  She didn't encounter one temple guard, and she STILL couldn't make it through.

Mental errors, are not acceptable in the temple!!!  :D

Silver was EASILY the best team out of all the teams on this day, and deserved a better fate.

Hey, welcome to the forum! We haven't had a new member in a while, it seems...

Anyway, it's certainly possible that she spotted the guard, because she wasn't hesitant when considering the option. Only when she was half-way through the door did she reconsider. Good point.

She should've gone anyways thou.  The guard must've distracted her from realizing it was the shortest way to get to the Sash anyway.

Also, it was only the Secret Password door that was open before Brandy put the monkey together, right?

This temple run was SOOOOOOO frustrating.

At least she got the feather, but she was WAY too slow, tentative, and slow-minded to figure out the temple.

How about Purple choking AGAIN.  I wonder how many times:
A. They only had to answer one question on the steps of knowledge to advance, and didn't.
B. Choke on the tie-breaker pedestal
C. Have some of the worst runs in Temple history.

Not to mention all the times they've gotten swept in the temple games, and owned in the moat.

I can guarantee you that Legends has been getting better ratings than the Fairly Oddparents.  Besides the people that are up at 6:30 in the first place, and watch Nick in the morning, some people actually wake up to watch Legends.  People don't do that with a 6-year-old cartoon like the Fairly Oddparents.  Just logic.
