A three-minute drum/guitar solo by Shawn Rickman and the late Shawn Lane respectively, posted on YouTube.  Mind-blowing from a technical perspective? Yes.  Nearly impossible to play? The guitar parts are, at least, considering how lightning-fast they are.  But is it interesting? I thought the drums were better than the guitar, really, considering 98% of the guitar parts were performed at the speed of light with fewer interesting slow parts in between... :(

Arch Enemy - "Skeleton Dance"

Quickly becoming my favorite death metal band.  The best part is that every musician they've had on board is above par, even for the genre. :D

Within Temptation - "Jillian (I'd Give My Heart)"

Yeah, I know I've been listening to a lot of symphonic crossover music lately, but I really think it's soothing.  I've heard the previews to WT's new album and while they're not bad, I don't think the direction they seem to be going in suits them... but older songs like this still have their impact.

It's been a while since I listened to The Silent Force, though— it's still great, but somehow feels a little empty compared to Mother Earth and The Heart Of Everything (I'd really recommend either of those two albums, but probably the latter more than the former, to newcomers).

Orphaned Land - "Ocean Land"

Man, I put off listening to Mabool for too long.  This band's one of the biggest metal bands out of the Middle East, hailing from Israel and combining prog metal with death/doom and Mediterranean music.  Each of their four albums so far is an impressive epic, and I don't think any other band has been able to unite Christians, Jews and Muslims better than these guys.  They definitely deserve kudos for doing what the political world can't seem to, hahah. :P
