Did any1 watch guts today on nick gas, it had 2 games that i have never seen on guts ever before
-
What two games were they?
-
Shouldn't this be in the Dark Forest?

Shouldn't this be in the Dark Forest?
I suppose so, although the description of this forum is a bit vague. I'll move it there now...
By the way, no, I did not get to see those two games. Can you describe them to us?
-
It was the downhill luge game. It's been featured on GUTS many times.

Ah. The strangest events I saw were the moonshoes racing and the hockey event, which weren't done too often.
-
The hockey one was on today too. I've only seen that one like 3 different times.
I always forgot about the volleyball event.
-
In the early episodes they had a lot of games, so they weren't played all that often like the luge game, the moon shoes game, and the hockey game
-
Shouldn't this be in the Dark Forest?
This seems in the realm of sanity to me, provided that The Blue Barracuda didn't hallucinate or dream the whole thing.
-
N'ah, the luge game only appeared in later seasons. The moonshoes race was definitely part of the early seasons though.
-
Was the luge one where they kneeboarded down the mountain? That's the only thing I can think of like that. But I remember the moonshoe one, not on every often, but it was pretty cool! I like the triple jump one.
-

It did appear, but not as much later. They seemed to alway do Hang Ten, Slam Dunk, and Basic Training (My favorite event)
-
I agree. I love Basic training. Sorry about this topic.
-
On yesterday's GUTS block, they had a tennis event called "Aces". IIRC, that event only showed up once or twice in the show's run.

Yeah, i had never seen that one before.
-
I've seen Aces before, like twice.
-
I don't recall Aces either.
I just wish GAS would show Global Guts again, they're only alternating between early Aggro Crag eps and slightly later Mega Crag eps right now.
-
That luge game they've played several times. I think it's called Verteboggen, or something like that. There was also another version of that called The Edge.
Another game they didn't play too often was that one where the players had to dip their hands in green paint and see how high they could jump. Every time I've seen that game played (twice), Mo always has to tell the player twice to dip their hands.
-
Make Your Mark, I believe. Yeah, the most common version of that game involved the players planting their feet on the chalk and putting them on the board.
I think my favorite GUTS event would probably be Hang Ten, with Slam Dunk and Bulls-Eye second and third.
-
I loved the biking game they did in the later episodes (Mad Max, was it?) and the Tornado Run event. They were so fast-paced that they were exciting even if there was a clear winner.
-
The best games were Mad Max, Tornado Run, Basic Training, and Extreme Baseball. Basically any of the events involving an obstacle-course format are my favorites. I think it's because they all reminded me of Legends.

Mike O'Malley giving a speech to University of New Hampshire graduates back in May. He mentions GUTS.

-
He's done so much over the years, between Nickelodeon game shows and other networks' programing... It was funny to hear him talk about his past like that.
-
Yeah, "Aces" is probably one of the rarest events on GUTS.
Furthermore, the Mad Max event . . . before it was Mad Max . . . was called Wild Wheels, and it wasn't featured too prominently. There was also the skiing event that was done on the same hill as the Luge event, although it's barely skiing. Ski boots + ski poles != skiing.
God, GUTS sucked in the early days.
-
The first few episodes of Guts looked unprofessional, and you can tell that both Mike and Moira weren't used to it (Mike said random stuff while everyone was getting set, Moira would be less prepared with scores), kinda like the first few episodes of Legends where Kirk wasn't used to it and Olmec did everything. Season 1 was okay (Moon race and Basic Traning are my favorites there) Season 2 was better because of better games and the hosts finally getting the hang of it, and Season 3 was exellent with the awesome games and professional looking arena.

Oh boy, seems we have a new member on our hands, welcome to Phantom's Temple, and from now on, please do not go off on members like that, or the mods and myself will have to take action.
Everyone has their own opinion of how well Mo coached.

I never insulted her. I was just pointing out why the first couple of seasons weren't as professional looking as the final ones. I don't have any major problems with either hosts. Sorry if I offended you.

And guess what buddy? That's a flaming infraction.
One more of those and you're out of here.

I don't look too kindly on instigation, either.

my bad

All right, that's enough, all of you, let's get back on the topic of GUTS.

Yes, lets

What's your favorite obstical in Basic Traning? I liked watching the elastic jungle, but I didn't like the rings (even though it was funny to see people fall off!)

To be honest, I watched GUTS for the entertainment...by that I mean the kid's pathetic attempts. Basic Training happened to have most of them, so I consider it my favorite.
-
Haha, yeah I watch it for the entertainment along with the competition. For some reason I can't remember the competition but I remember the contestant's mistakes. Oh well. Yeah Basic Traning is the best. The Aggro Crag is awesome as well, but when it becomes the Mega Crag it's really confusing to keep track of what's going on.

The Rings were pure fail every time. Seriously, rings to hold your arms AND feet?
When more contestants fall than complete on the first time, you know it's dumb. I am surprised it lasted as long as it did.
-
The rings were just more annoying and time consuming. I'd rather watch them do the tightrope walk, it's quick. Even though the tightrope walk caused some people to fall off, there wasn't nearly as many falls as the rings.

My favorite part of GUTS is to just see how excited Mike O' Malley gets. I remember when someone broke the "world record" for the high jump thing and it was like the greatest moment in his life, the way he made it sound. I also like when he says stuff like " FOLKS this basic training course is the same as what the army uses!" lol. Gotta love Mike O'Malley.

It's almost as if Nick created GUTS just for Mike O' Malley after his prolonged boredom hosting Get the Picture. You could see little flairs of his energy in GTP from time to time, but with GUTS he felt a lot more comfortable expressing it. I think he was genuinely impressed with a lot of the kids.
-
Yea it's strange watching him on GTP when its just trivia. He does go pretty insane when he yells POOOWEEERR SUUURGE! lol

Yeah, that was great when the kid jumped over 8'1 or something and he got insane. Then in season 3, 8'8 was the minimum, 7 inches higher than the "world record". When the competition sucks, Mike's excitement makes up for it. Especially when he gets excited about small things like that.
-
It is also weird watching him on that sitcom. I am just waiting for him to make a GUTS reference lol.
-
I wonder if he misses working for Nickelodeon.
-
I'm not sure, but I am sure he probably got more $$ with his sitcom.
-
I know that I'm going to be pushing this topic to its outermost limits by making this request, but I'll just come out with it anyway.
Now I know that in the past, requests for custom midi's have been made of Legends songs and sounds. Well I have a request for a custom Guts midi. If anyone can creat a midi of the victory salute that was played as the kids received their medals, I'd REALLY BE APPRECIATIVE!!! I ask because I've ALWAYS been fond of that little tune.
Edit: MODS, if you think that this post would prove more fruitful elsewhere, then PLEASE, by all means, move it!

Apparently there's suppose to be a new Guts-like show on Nick at Nite.

Sweet find. That would be cool if they did the same with Legends.

Yeah, a Legends revival would have been really cool too, and I bet much easier to revive. Seriously, building a new Aggro Crag must be really tough. I'm very happy that Guts is back, but I really hope they don't mess it up a lot. I have a feeling that Mike O'Malley and Moira Quirk won't be the hosts (though that would be completly awesome if they were), but other than that I'm hopeing it's basically the same. It would suck if they totally re-did the thing and made it unrecognizable. I think it's really cool that they are doing the shows from Universal Orlando like they did in the 90's, it makes me forgive them for tearing down Nickelodeon Studios.
-
I wonder what Mike and Mo would look like now. I wonder if they would be really old.
-

Mo pretty much looks the same, at least from what I've seen. Mike's lost all his hair though; heck, he was going bald before Global GUTS started.
As per this "new edition" of the show, I don't think I like it being a family members format. That worked for Double Dare, but I don't think GUTS is a show the whole family could take part in. For me, it was always three kids and the Crag. This could potentially be disastrous. I hear they're looking for a host. TV is my career path, but I'd stay away from this show, just in case it were to tank. No matter, if they do revive GUTS, they need to use one of these:
Presumably, they'll use one bigger than that. And in HD.

Neither of them look old, but Mike looks different without the hair (of course he now wears a baseball cap to cover the lack of hair). Moira does look the same.

Those commercials are actually pretty funny. My friends and I think this one is hilarious, I'm surprised that they can make references to the middle finger on commercials.
