Kirk stands between the two teams and in front of the Steps of Knowledge. ?Welcome back to Legends,? he says. ?Now, the glory goes to the fastest and the strongest, so let?s talk to our team players.? He turns to interview the brown-haired boy on the Orange Iguanas. ?On the Orange Iguanas, we have Gregory. How old are you??
?Thirteen,? he replies.
?And I understand you?re into playing football,? Kirk reads on the index card in his hand, ?but you really want to be a record producer. Tell me about that.?
?Well, I?m really into hip-hop,? Gregory explains, ?and I like artists like Timbaland who? perform and produce. He?s pretty cool. I wanna learn how to remix, sample stuff? yeah.?
?Sounds pretty cool,? Kirk comments, then going to interview the black girl next to Gregory. ?And your partner here is Lisette. How old are you??
?Thirteen,? answers Lisette.
?And it says you like to play softball and you have 19 pets,? Kirk reads on the index card. ?What are they??
?Um?? she explains, ?I have three dogs named Sparky, Domino and Rush, a rabbit named Perky and 15 fish. Mostly danios and goldfish.?
?Sounds like a nice team right here,? Kirk comments. ?Let?s hear it for the Orange Iguanas!? Gregory and Lisette applaud with the audience as Kirk goes to interview the blond boy on the other team. ?But on the Purple Parrots, we have Tyler. How old are you, Tyler??
?Thirteen,? he replies.
?And I understand you?re into windsurfing,? reads Kirk. ?That right??
?Yeah,? Tyler answers. ?I?ve been doing that for a few years now and I think I wanna go pro.?
?All right, well good luck,? Kirk smiles, going to interview the auburn-haired girl next to Tyler. ?And Ashley, how old are you??
?Twelve,? answers Ashley.
?And I hear you?re into sewing and fashion,? Kirk says. ?Tell me about that.?
?Well,? Ashley begins, ?I?ve been doing that for a year or so? Hopefully I can make my own dresses for a dance, I wanna do that for me and my friends? Maybe even open a dress shop later.?
?This is one creative team,? Kirk replies. ?Let?s hear it for the Purple Parrots!? Tyler and Ashley high-five as the audience applauds again.
?You guys ready to play?? asks Kirk.
?YEAH!? The players reply.
?All right!? Kirk says, excited. ?Go get ready for the Temple Game!? Lisette and Ashley walk offscreen in one direction, and Gregory and Tyler leave in another. ?In the Temple Games, these two teams will be competing for?" he opens his pocket and pulls out a small gold medallion to show to the camera? "Pendants of Life. They?ll need those Pendants to protect themselves from the Temple Guards as they make their way through Olmec?s Temple. There are three Temple Games, and Olmec? tell us about Temple Game #1.?
Olmec begins:
?In Wyatt Earp?s time, people got from place to place on horseback, and in this game, you must prove your horsemanship. Hold on tight to the horse you?re lying on, because when Kirk gives the signal, the horse will begin to spin.
?The player that?s still on the horse after 60 seconds? or the player that stays on the longest? wins.?
The camera fades to Kirk, who is standing in front of the mechanical horse. ?It?s gonna be a bumpy ride,? he says. ?Let?s set the clock for 60 seconds.? The clock then appears in the bottom-right corner of the screen. ?On your mark, get set, GO!?
Lisette and Ashley hold on tight as the horse begins to turn around, and they manage to make it around several times. The spotters change the direction of rotation after about fifteen seconds or so, and both girls? fingers begin to slip after a while. It?s Ashley that falls off her horse first, though; the game ends with 21 seconds still on the countdown clock.
?All right! That's it!? Kirk shouts as the girls step off the safety mats and join him. ?They're dizzy, they been spinnin? around and around, but the Orange Iguanas stayed on the longest. They win a half Pendant of Life!? Lisette claps along with the audience. ?Purple Parrots had trouble staying on there,? Kirk says to Ashley. ?What happened??
?I was slipping? the spin caught me off-guard,? she answers.
?No problem though,? Kirk says, ?cause you can catch up in the next game, it's worth a half Pendant. Olmec, tell us about Temple Game #2.?
Olmec continues:
?It took a while for Wyatt and Doc Holliday to travel to Tombstone. In this game, you must follow their trail. When Kirk gives the signal, climb on the wheel and adjust your weight to make the wheel spin. When it makes one full rotation, it means you have traveled one mile toward Tombstone. The player who travels the most miles toward Tombstone in 60 seconds wins.?
?Giddy up, pardners!? laughs Kirk. ?Let?s put 60 seconds on the clock.? The clock then appears in the corner of the screen. ?On your mark, get set, GO!?
Tyler and Gregory take off at a good pace, but use different methods trying to turn the wheel. Tyler turns it by running just on his feet, but Gregory goes along on all fours. Having less support on the wheel, Tyler first falls right off the wheel at the halfway mark, and again with only twelve seconds left. Regardless, he doesn?t change his strategy, but when time runs out a pattern of ceiling spotlights flashes to mark the end the game.
?Okay!? Kirk shouts, running over to check the scoreboards. ?Purple Parrots got 7 miles to Tombstone, Orange Iguanas got 12 miles! Orange Iguanas get another half Pendant of Life!? The audience applauds for a moment as Kirk goes to talk to Tyler. ?You? uh? had a tough time staying on the? uh? the wheel,? he says. ?Tell me what happened?.?
?Uh?? Tyler begins, ?I dunno? couldn?t keep my balance.?
?Well you can win this next game and tie it back up,? Kirk says. ?It?s the third and final game. It?s worth a full Pendant. Olmec, tell us about it.?
Olmec narrates:
?According to legend, the showdown at the O.K. Corral was only a 2-on-2 match, but in this game., you must take down the four enemies in front of you. When Kirk gives the signal, lob a cannonball at one of the outlaws on the wall. Then you partner will place a cannonball in the slingshot and aim at the outlaws on the wall.
?The first team to knock down all four outlaws? or the team that?s further along after 60 seconds? wins!?
?Showdown at high noon, I like it,? Kirk comments. ?Whoever wins this game goes to the Temple. Let?s put 60 seconds on the clock.? The clock then appears in the corner of the screen, and Kirk steps to the side. ?On your marks, get set, GO!?
The players take aim, and the Purple Parrots get lucky early on: only six seconds into the game, Tyler knocks down the rightmost target. Lisette of the Orange Iguanas lands a shot on the second-rightmost target for her team, knocking it over a few seconds later. The Orange Iguanas get down their rightmost target soon after, with 40 seconds remaining, and while the Parrots hit and knock down their leftmost target at :33, the Iguanas knock over their third target with 28 seconds left.
?This game takes a lot good aim,? Kirk explains as the Purple Parrots desperately shoot for the middle of the two targets, which results in the cannonball being lodged in between the two. The next few cannonballs they try to shoot fall out of the slingshot rather than being fired, but the Orange Iguanas end the game by knocking down their fourth target with 13 seconds still on the clock.
?That?s it!? Kirk announces, reappearing onscreen. ?The Orange Iguanas got all four of the outlaws, that gives them a Pendant, that gives them two, the Purple Parrots didn?t score. Orange Iguanas are going to the Temple!? Lisette wraps her arm around Gregory and squeals as the two of them jump up and down, while Kirk goes to talk with the Purple Parrots. ?You? uh? had some trouble there,? he says.
?Yeah, just? kept falling out,? Tyler explains.
?Well, you guys gave it a great effort,? Kirk replies. ?We got a great gift for you both, and here?s what you get.? Tyler and Ashley will each be receiving Transformers: Cybertron Optimus Prime and Megatron action figures.
The camera cuts back to Kirk standing in front of the Orange Iguanas? slingshot with his hands on Gregory and Lisette?s shoulders. ?So now we?ll see if the Orange Iguanas can make it through Olmec?s Temple and retrieve that Leather Holster of Wyatt Earp,? he says, ?right after this!? The camera pans along the wall of the Temple, stopping at the mouth of the Pharaoh?s Secret Passage in the Dungeon before fading to commercial.
