Episode 47px]

The camera maneuvers through a thick rainforest to stop in front of an ancient temple.  A giant stone head next to the gate of the temple begins to speak:
"LEGENDS OF THE HIDDEN TEMPLE! With your guide, Kirk Fogg! And here he is NOW!"

On this final word, Kirk appears from behind the Temple Guard door in the Dungeon and runs straight out into the foreground of the stage to greet the crowd. "Thank you! Thank you very much! Nice to see you! Nice to see you, Olmec! Welcome to Legends of the Hidden Temple.  The rooms are filled with lost treasures that are protected by mysterious Mayan Temple Guards.  Only Olmec knows the legend behind each of the treasures in his temple.  Which legend are we gonna hear about today?"

Olmec replies:
"The Broken Flask of Louis Pasteur."

"Oh, the Broken Flask of Louie Pasture!" Kirk says in response. "Well one of these six teams will have the chance to retrieve the Broken Flask.  Will it be:
"Garrett and Sydney of the Red Jaguars?" the camera pans to each team in order?
"Jeff and Brooke of the Blue Barracudas,
"Luis and Vanessa of the Green Monkeys,
"Zac and Kelly-Anna of the Orange Iguanas,
"Jayden and Ashleigh of the Purple Parrots,
"Or Scott and Samantha of the Silver Snakes?"

"They'll have to pass some tough physical and mental tests," Kirk says, "and in the end, only one team will earn the right to enter Olmec's Temple.  But first, they must cross the Moat, and here's how they'll have to do it today:
"In front of each team there's a slippery footpath that goes across the Moat.  When I say go, one player from each team will slide down the path on their stomach and try to grab that rope on the other side to pull themselves onto the deck.  But if they slide out and they can?t reach it, they?ll have to try again."
"As soon as the second player gets onto the deck, it's his job to run over here and hit the gong." He slams down on the Red Jaguars' gong to demonstrate. "The first four teams to hit their gongs will go on to the next round.  Are you ready?"
The players all cheer and shout in response.
"Monsieur Olmec, are you ready?" Kirk asks with a French accent.
"Mais oui!" Olmec replies.
"All right!" Kirk laughs a response. "On your mark teams, get set, GO!"

The Moat starts of rather poorly, as no one makes it far enough out to reach the rope on either of their first two attempts.  However, on the third attempt, four players make it across: the boys on the Red Jaguars and Silver Snakes and the girls on the Blue Barracudas and Orange Iguanas.  On the fourth attempt, only the girl on the Purple Parrots makes it across.
?This looks like it?s gonna be a close match!? Kirk remarks as the boy on the Orange Iguanas reaches for the rope on his fifth attempt.  He manages to grab it and then pulls himself onto the deck, then goes to hit his team?s gong. ?We already got our first team, but this takes intense concentration, it?s hard to slide out enough!? No one reaches the rope on the sixth try, but the seventh time, the boy on the Purple Parrots manages to make it across, and he goes to bang his team?s gong.
?We?re looking for two more teams!? Kirk comments as the players rush out for the eighth attempt.  No one gets it this time, but on the ninth try, the girl on the Green Monkeys gets across, as does the boy on the Blue Barracudas, who goes to hit his team?s gong several times.
?Still need one more team, who?s it gonna be?? narrates Kirk.  After a few failed attempts and noticeable editing, the boy on the Green Monkeys reaches the rope, pulls himself across and runs over to hit the gong.
?That?s it! We got our four teams!? Kirk announces, and the camera shows him standing in front of a mistless Moat with the Blue Barracudas around their gong. ?The Blue Barracudas did a great job slip-sliding across here, and they?re going on to the Steps of Knowledge, along with the Green Monkeys?? the camera then shows each of the other qualifying teams? ?and the Orange Iguanas? and the Purple Parrots! The Red Jaguars, Silver Snakes, they gave it a great effort.  They?re not going away empty-handed, we got a gift for them for playing and here?s what it is.?
Dee reads the consolation prize:
"Look at the entertaining fun you?ll have when you strap on Moon Shoes.  Super excitement is yours when you bounce higher than ever! Don?t leave Earth without Moon Shoes, from Big Time Toys!"

The four teams are now at the top of the Steps of Knowledge accompanied by Kirk. "As the quest continues, it's now time for Olmec to tell us about the Broken Flask of Louis Pasture.  But pay attention teams, because your knowledge of the Legend can bring you one step closer to Olmec's Temple."
Olmec begins to tell the legend:
"One of the most important scientists of his time was Louis Pasteur.  The Frenchman was a microbiologist, meaning he studied germs and other tiny organisms.  In Louis?s time, when many people around him got sick so suddenly, people thought food went bad over time, but he wanted to look into it.
" 'Could eet be zat somezing eez making ze food go bad?' he thought. 'I must figure zees out!'
"And he tried to see if it was it was because of a person or something else.  He took two flasks with very narrow, twisted tubes, broke the tube off of one flask and filled both flasks with the same broth.  The broth in the broken flask did go bad, but the broth in the other flask was still edible.  Louis realized that the broth didn?t go bad on its own, but germs contaminated the broth in the broken flask.  Louis made sure to clean both his flasks after the experiment, but the broken one made its way to the Temple.  Your task is to find the Broken Flask of Louis Pasteur and bring it here."

"Thanks a lot Olmec," Kirk says after Olmec finishes telling the legend. "So tell us, where is the Flask?"
Olmec replies:
"The Broken Flask of Louis Pasteur can be found in the Shrine of the Silver Monkey." The camera zooms in on the Broken Flask lying next to the middle section of the silver monkey statue, then fades back to Kirk.

"Teams," Kirk begins, walking down the steps, "you're now standing on the Steps of Knowledge, and in a minute, Olmec will ask you a question.  If you think you know the answer, I want you to stomp down on the ancient marking in front of you.  If you're right, you're gonna move down to the next level, but if you're wrong or run out of time, I'll give the other teams a chance to answer.  The first two teams to make it to the bottom step? will be one step closer to Olmec's Temple.  Olmec, we're ready for your first question."

Olmec begins:
?Was Louis Pasteur a: Marine biologist, Microbiologist or???
Ashleigh rings in: ?Microbiologist???
?Correct,? answers Olmec.
?Nice job, Purple Parrots, step down,? Kirk comments, and the Purple Parrots move down to the second step. ?Next question.?
Olmec asks:
?Did that mean Louis studied: Microscopes???
Vanessa hits the marking first: ?Microscopes?? Her voice trails off.
?Incorrect,? Olmec replies, with an ?Oh, shoot? muttered by Vanessa heard around the same time. ?The other two choices are: Microphones and Microorganisms.?
Jeff gongs in: ?Microorganisms???
?Correct,? answers Olmec.
?Blue Barracudas, step down!? remarks Kirk, and the Blue Barracudas also move down to the second level. ?You might wanna hear all the answers, teams.  Olmec, next question.?
Olmec then asks:
?Would Louis?s experiment determine if: Germs were invisible, Food went bad on its own or Oxygen???
Brooke stomps in: ?Food went bad on its own???
?That is correct,? answers Olmec.
?Blue Barracudas now just one step away from the Temple Games,? says Kirk as the Blue Barracudas move down to the third level. ?Olmec, next question.?
Olmec now asks:
?One of the flasks Louis Pasteur used for his experiment was broken.  Did the other have: Two openings, A narrow twisted tube or A funnel-like opening??
Ashleigh rings in: ?Funnel opening???
?Incorrect,? comes Olmec?s response.
Zac stomps down and answers: ?Uh? A funny-twisty tube???
?Correct,? answers Olmec.
?Orange Iguanas on the board!? Kirk remarks as the Orange Iguanas join the Purple Parrots on the second step. ?Green Monkeys can still score.  Olmec, next question.?
Olmec asks:
?Did the flasks contain: Broth, Juice or Oil??
Luis answers first: ?Um? Oil???
?Incorrect,? replied Olmec.
Kelly-Anna gongs in: ?Broth???
?That is correct,? says Olmec, and the Orange Iguanas walk down onto the penultimate step.
?Orange Iguanas now just one step away from the Temple Games,? Kirk remarks. ?Olmec, continue.?
Olmec does so by asking:
?Was Louis Pasteur from: England, France or Aus???
Jeff interrupts Olmec this time: ?France.?
?That is correct!? declares Olmec.
?All right, we got our first team going to the Temple Games!? announces Kirk, and the Blue Barracudas jump down to the bottom step and hug each other briefly. ?We?ve got room for one more team, who?s it gonna be: the Green Monkeys, the Purple Parrots or the Orange Iguanas? Next question, Olmec.?
Olmec continues:
?Did the broth go bad in: Only the unbroken flask, Only the broken flask or Both flasks??
Luis hits the marking first: ?Just the broken one???
?Correct,? answers Olmec.
?Green Monkeys on the board!? remarks Kirk as the Green Monkeys move down to the second step. ?It?s anybody?s game.  Olmec, next question.?
Olmec asks:
?Louis Pasteur?s experiment also disproved spontaneous generation.  Does ?spontaneous generation? mean: Living things can?t be exactly alike, Living things can be created from matter or Living things can be born randomly??
Nobody answers this time; a bell sounds after a few seconds. ?Time?s up! The correct answer was: Living things can be created from matter.?
?All right, next question,? says Kirk.
Olmec now asks:
?In order to observe germs, would you need to use a: Magnifying glass, Telescope or Mic???
Ashleigh cuts off Olmec: ?Telesco??
Kelly-Anna gongs in: ?Microscopes!?
?That is correct!? shouts Olmec, and the Orange Iguanas join the Blue Barracudas on the bottommost level.
?That?s it! We got our two teams right here!? Kirk announces, slipping in behind the celebrating team members on the bottommost step. ?They?re the Blue Barracudas and the Orange Iguanas! Green Monkeys, Purple Parrots, come down here, you guys gave it a great effort.  You?re not going away empty-handed, here?s what we?ve got for you.? Luis, Vanessa, Jayden and Ashleigh will each be receiving a $50 U.S. Savings Bond provided by Chef Boyardee.
The camera cuts back to Kirk standing between the two qualifying teams at the bottom of the Steps of Knowledge. ?These two teams will be playing for the right to enter Mr. Olmec?s Temple,? he says, ?right after this!? The camera pans across the Temple in its entirety before fading to commercial.

Kirk is now standing in front of the Crystal Cave between the last two teams. ?Welcome back to Legends,? he says. ?Now the glory goes to the fastest and the strongest, but before we get started, I wanna talk to our team players.? He turns camera-left to talk to a short girl whose blond hair is tied back with a blue scrunchie. ?On the Blue Barracudas, we have Brooke.  How old are you, Brooke??
?Twelve,? replies Brooke.
?Now I understand you swim and run cross-country,? Kirk says, reading off an index card. ?Which do you like better??
?Um? Probably swimming,? Brooke explains, ?because I love the water.?
?Which one are you better at??
?Swimming,? Brooke answers with a smile.
?That?s why she?s a Blue Barracuda,? Kirk smiles, then turns to Brooke?s partner, a medium-sized boy with short hair, oval-lensed glasses and dark brown eyes. ?And also on the Blue Barracudas, we have Jeff.  How old are you??
?Twelve,? Jeff replies.
?And I understand you?re into Japanese comic books,? Kirk reads. ?Tell me about that.?
?Well,? explains Jeff, ?I?ve been reading Naruto and Bleach for a couple years now, and I?ve been trying to teach myself how to draw like them.?
?Ah, very nice.  Let?s hear it for the Blue Barracudas!? Kirk shouts, and as the audience applauds Kirk turns to interview the Orange Iguanas, starting with the girl to the immediate stage-right, a slightly overweight kid with wavy brown hair.
?And on the Orange Iguanas, we have Kelly-Anna,? says Kirk. ?How old are you??
?Twelve,? she answers.
?I understand you draw? Jeff, meet Kelly-Anna.  Kelly-Anna, Jeff? but you also play golf,? Kirk reads. ?Tell me about that.?
?Well,? she says, ?I play with my uncle, he takes me around to different courses.  I play a few times a month.?
?How?s your score?? Kirk asks.
?Usually? two or three under par,? Kelly-Anna replies.
?Sounds like you?re a good player,? Kirk says.  He then goes to the far right of the screen to interview the last player, an Asian boy with short hair.
?And also on the Orange Iguanas, we have Zac.  How old are you??
?Eleven,? says Zac.
?And I understand you want to become a DJ,? Kirk says. ?Tell me about that.?
?Well,? Zac explains, ?I wanna learn how to remix or arrange music.  I play a lot of video games, and I wanna learn how to remake those themes on new instruments and stuff.?
?This sounds like a musical team here,? Kirk comments. ?Let?s hear it for the Orange Iguanas!? The audience applauds for the Orange Iguanas.

?All right! Go get ready for the Temple Games,? Kirk says as the players walk offscreen, ?and I'll explain what's gonna happen here.  Now, in the Temple Games, these teams will be competing to win?" he opens his pocket and pulls out a small gold medallion to show to the camera? "Pendants of Life.  The winning team will need those Pendants to protect themselves from the dreaded Temple Guards as they make their way through the Temple.  There are three Temple Games, and Olmec will tell us about the first one.?

Olmec begins:
?A scientist like Louis Pasteur always has to be ready to conduct experiments.  In this game, you will retrieve equipment for him.  When Kirk gives the signal, crawl into the first cube, grab one of the containers, then crawl back and place it in your bin.  Then, go back to get the next one.  Along the way you must try and avoid the swinging sandbags.  If you?re hit, you?ll have to go back and start again.?
?The first player to get all four beakers? or the player that?s further along after 60 seconds? wins!?
The camera fades to Kirk. ?Put 60 seconds on the clock,? he says, and a countdown clock appears in the bottom-right corner of the screen. ?Let?s get the sandbags back in position and then let?s start swinging them again.? The spotters do just that. ?On your marks, get set, GO!?
?There they go! These guys are fast!? Kirk remarks as Jeff and Zac take off.  Both players are quick, but Jeff is markedly quicker than Zac.  Zac gets to his first beaker in only four seconds, but Jeff has already gotten his and brings it back just five seconds into the game.  Jeff keeps the same breakneck speed as he goes after the second beaker; Zac returns with his first after nine seconds, but by then, Jeff has almost come back with the second for the Blue Barracudas already.  He brings it back with :49 on the clock, right before Zac can grab the second beaker for the Orange Iguanas.
?This is a fast game,? Kirk comments. ?Guys gotta make sure they don?t get hit.? Jeff reaches his third beaker with :39 remaining, just a second after Zac comes back with his second.  Then, Zac picks up the pace a little as Jeff slows a tad.  Zac reaches the third beaker with 34 seconds left, just as Jeff returns with the third for the Blue Barracudas.
?Blue Barracudas just need one more,? Kirk announces, ?but Orange Iguanas can still scramble for it!? Zac gets the third beaker in the bin with 28 seconds remaining; Jeff gets his paws on the last one for the Blue Barracudas a moment later and starts to crawl back with it.
However, amidst his rush to make it back and win the Temple Game, Jeff is hit by a sandbag when just twenty seconds are left.  He gets off the cube he?s on and the beaker is put back as he starts the round over, while Zac slows down just to be careful, inching toward the final beaker.  He finally gets to the last beaker with :14 left and starts back; he picks up the pace a bit as Jeff gets to the fourth beaker again, and beats out Jeff by getting the last beaker in the bin with just five seconds remaining.
?That?s it! Stop the clock!? Kirk shouts out, appearing on screen.  The players go over and join him. ?Orange Iguanas hung in there; Blue Barracudas had to go back, letting the Orange Iguanas get the fourth beaker in first and giving them the half Pendant of Life!? Zac and Jeff high-five as the audience applauds. ?Blue Barracudas can catch up in the next game, it?s worth a half Pendant.  Olmec, tell us about it.?

Olmec continues:
?Louis Pasteur?s discoveries might have earned him quite a bit of money, and in this game, you will collect a bit of money that he never received so that it can be brought to its proper heir.  When Kirk gives the signal, jump up, grab a coin off the ceiling, and come back down to place it in your bin.  Then, jump back up and do it again.
?The first player to grab all the coins? or the player that?s further along after 60 seconds? wins.?
The camera fades to Kirk. ?Set the clock for 60 seconds,? he says.  A clock then appears in the bottom-right corner of the screen. ?On your mark, get set, GO!?
Both Brooke and Kelly-Anna have some trouble with this game at first.  The girls try to jump up, but can?t quite get up high enough on the first attempt.  The second time around, they both get to the first of the ten coins on the ceiling and get it in the bucket, although Kelly-Anna is a second faster than Brooke, getting her coin in with :53 remaining.  The next attempt by both players is a failure, but they both make it to their second coins the next time around.  Kelly-Anna remains a second faster, getting hers in the bucket and taking off again with 45 seconds left.  However, the next time they both try to jump up, Kelly-Anna doesn?t make it high enough but Brooke does, scoring her third coin.
?This game,? Kirk explains, ?you gotta? push yourself high enough to get to the ceiling, and it?s tough.? For a while Kelly-Anna fails a bit more than Brooke, but she soon manages to close a scoring gap, bringing the score for the two to 4-4 just before the halfway mark.  After that point, Kelly-Anna starts to score more often? it helps that she?s a bit taller than Brooke.  Brooke tries to stage a comeback, but it?s just too little too late as Kelly-Anna jumps up to get the last coin with two seconds left.  However, a pattern of ceiling spotlights flash, to indicate the end of the Temple Game, before she can come back down.  Kelly-Anna tries to drop it into the bucket as soon as she grabs it, but it lands after the clock stops ticking.
Kirk runs back on screen and grabs the bins. ?Time?s up! Let?s see how they did,? he says as spotters free the girls from the equipment. ?Blue Barracudas got?? he pulls out the coins as he counts them? ?one, two, three, four, five, six, seven coins.  Orange Iguanas got? that last one didn?t count?? he tosses it aside? ?one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine coins! Orange Iguanas get another half Pendant of Life!? The audience applauds again. ?Orange Iguanas so far have a full Pendant, Blue Barracudas have a half? I mean, they don?t have any yet? but the third and final game is worth a whole Pendant.  Olmec, tell us about it.?

Olmec narrates:
?Like all scientists, Louis Pasteur used the scientific method throughout his experiments.  On the wall above you are the four major stages of the scientific method: Inference, Hypothesis, Data Collection, and Conclusion.  When Kirk gives the signal, load the slingshot and fire a ball.  Your partner must catch the ball and stick it on the first stage.  Once you?ve covered a stage, it means it has been completed, and you can climb up and try to complete the next stage.
?The team that completes all four stages first? or the team that?s furthest along after 60 seconds? wins.?
?This one?s for the Temple,? Kirk says. ?Blue Barracudas need it to tie the game up.  Let?s set the clock for 60 seconds.? The clock appears onscreen. ?On your mark, get set, GO!?
Jeff and Zac stay in position at the base of the walls, right next to the first step, ?Inference,? already.  Neither Brooke nor Kelly-Anna has exceptional aim with the slingshots, but Zac manages to catch the first ball and stick it on ?Inference? with :48 remaining.  The Blue Barracudas are but a second behind, though? Brooke takes just a little longer to shoot than Kelly-Anna? and both teams make their way up to the second stage, ?Hypothesis.? Again, neither of the girls is a crack shot, but Kelly-Anna finally gets a shot that Zac catches and puts on ?Hypothesis? at the :27 mark, letting him climb up to ?Data collection? while the Blue Barracudas take three more seconds to cover ?Hypothesis.?
?This game takes a lot of coordination,? Kirk mentions, ?but I think Orange has got it? Blue too,? he adds as Jeff climbs up to ?Data collection.? Neither team lands a shot on ?Data collection? before time ends, however; right after time expires, Jeff catches a shot, but the spotlights are already flashing and a spotter signals to Jeff and Zac to come down.  Kirk comes onscreen to count the scores.
?All right!? Kirk remarks, gesturing to the boards while spotters undo the equipment Jeff and Zac are strapped in.  Brooke and Kelly-Anna come over to join Kirk and the boys. ?Blue Barracudas and Orange Iguanas both got two stages, that means it?s a tie! They each get the full Pendant, giving Blue Barracudas a Pendant, but Orange Iguanas two Pendants? they?re going to the Temple!? The players all meet each other and high-five, congratulating one another. ?Blue Barracudas gave it a great effort too, we got a great gift for them both.  Here?s what they get.? Jeff and Brooke will each be receiving a copy of the Kingdom Hearts II PlayStation 2 game.
The camera cuts back to Kirk standing with the Orange Iguanas in front of the giant wall. ?They were tough and they stuck it out,? Kirk remarks, ?and now we?ll see the Orange Iguanas try to make it through Olmec?s Temple to retrieve the Broken Flask of Louis Pasture? right after this!? A different camera cuts around from behind the equipment for the third Temple Game, across the Temple Games arena and stops at the Switch Inferno before fading to commercial.

Kirk stands in front of the Temple's stairs to the camera-right of Zac and Kelly-Anna. "Welcome back," he says to the camera before turning to talk to the players. "You two have proven yourselves worthy and now?ve earned the right to enter the Temple.  But first, here?s some information to help you retrieve the Broken Flask of Louis Pasteur."
Olmec begins to give the rundown:
?You could start by climbing through the Crevasse and climbing down into the Mine Shaft.  Throw enough rocks into the bucket to lift the slab, then race into the Crystal Cave.  Pull down the correct icicle, and you could choose to go up into the Dragon?s Lair, or into the Junction of the Secret Shafts.  If you escape, you might have a chance to enter the Switch Inferno.  Hit the right actuator to go upstairs, or plow through the wall and into the Abandoned Cave.
?There, climb up the ladder into the Planetarium, and spin the correct sphere to open the door? to the Shrine? of the Silver Monkey, where you can grab the Broken Flask of Louis Pasteur.  Assemble the statue, and you may be headed for the Knights? Barracks.  Place the sword in the correct sheath, but be careful? one of the suits of armor could be possessed by the spirit of a Temple Guard! If they grab you, you'll have to give up a Pendant of Life! Next, race up to the Laser Light Room, find the right combination to unleash the power of the laser, and run across the Bridge.  Then, pass through the Room of Temple Gongs, race down the stairs and back through the Temple Gate.  The choices are yours and yours alone.? Olmec pauses for a second here.. "You won 2 Pendants in the Temple Games.  Who's going first??
"I am," says Kelly-Anna.
"Very well, Kelly-Anna," replies Olmec as Kirk hands out the Pendants of Life. "When Kirk gives the signal, you'll race through the gates into the Temple and make your way towards the Flask.  Hidden inside the Temple are three ventilation shafts that let out in the Junction of the Secret Shafts, as well as Temple Guards assigned to protect three specific rooms.  You can trade your Pendant for an extra life and go on, but if you're caught without a Pendant, you'll be taken out of the Temple? and then it'll be Zac?s turn to enter and try his luck.  If you reach the Broken Flask, all the doors of the Temple will instantly unlock, and the Temple Guards will vanish.  Return through the gates with the Broken Flask of Louis Pasteur in three minutes, and you will both be handsomely rewarded? and here's how!"
? For just getting into the Temple, they?re both going to get a $250 Toys ?R? Us gift card.
? If they can grab the Flask within 3 minutes, they?re both going to get Compton?s Interactive Encyclopedia on CD-ROM, provided by Compton?s New Media.
? And if they can get the Broken Flask out of the Temple before time?s up, they?ll both be going to Quebec City! They?ll be staying for three days at Delta Quebec, with an indoor exercise room, an outdoor heated pool and an underground mall and they?ll be there during the Carnaval de Qu?bec.  Delta Quebec, for a prize package totaling $10,836!

"Kelly-Anna just told me she thinks they can handle it!" Kirk says, excited. "Let?s get her going and out in front.  Both of you put your mouthpieces in, you never know when you?re gonna run in.  Olmec, lower your gate, please!"
Olmec hums as the Temple Gate drops.
"And let's set the clock for three minutes." The clock appears in the corner of the screen. "On your mark, get set, GO!"

?There she goes! Up into the Temple, with two Pendants!? a Kirk voice-over declares as Kelly-Anna jogs up the steps of the Temple.  At 2:52 she enters the Room of Temple Gongs, only to meet the first?
?TEMPLE GUARD!? the voice-over shouts out. ?Woah! She?s gotta give up her Pendant, she?s scramblin? for it?? Kelly-Anna hands her Pendant of Life to the Temple Guard with 2:45; he then disappears, and she goes to the front of the room to hit the gongs there.  Starting at the one furthest right on camera, she moves stage-left.  The fourth one she hits opens the door, but she hits all six and then moves out to the Bridge (2:32).  She walks across the Bridge, hits the actuator and moves on up into the Laser Light Room with 2:21.  There, she walks straight across the room to get to the Knights? Barracks, but a locked door stands in her way.
?No going there! She?s gotta light up the light first!? the voice-over declares.  After Kelly-Anna walks back up the staircase, she kneels down and gets to work aligning the sections of the metallic column with 2:09 to go; while she?s working on it, the camera briefly cuts to Zac with Kirk, his head out of the camera frame, resting a hand on his shoulder. ?Zac?s looking on, she?s making great time!? With 1:47 remaining, Kelly-Anna fully aligns the sections of the metal column, which emits a laser beam as she climbs down slowly into the Dragon?s Lair.  She looks around for a bit before she realizes what the objective is, then starts to pick up the dragon horns in the front of the room and gets to work with 1:35 left.  At 1:20, she gets the last horn in the giant dragon head hanging around the doorway to the ladder leading upstairs; the black patters on the walls lights up violet and a roar is heard before the door the Knights? Barracks opens.  Kelly-Anna looks over and instantly crawls through into the next room.  After a bit of a delay with starting in on the objective, she takes the sword from the front of the room and puts it in the stage-right sheath with 1:09 remaining.  Nothing happens, but when she tries the middle sheath, the gauntlets of the armor come to life and grab her? the armor?s possessed by a TEMPLE SPIRIT!
?There, a Temple Ghost!? Kirk?s commentary switches from voice-over to live as he sends Zac on into the Temple with a minute and two seconds on the clock. ?A Temple Spirit took Kelly-Anna, now it?s turn for Zac to clean things up!? Zac jogs into the Temple and precisely follows Kelly-Anna?s path all the way up to the Knights? Barracks, which he enters with 36 seconds to go.  He takes the sword from the center sheath, retries the right sheath and then the center one, and then tries the stage-left sheath which Kelly-Anna never had the chance to use.  Unfortunately, the door to the Shrine of the Silver Monkey does not open.
?That door?s not open for him! He?s gotta double back a bit!? Kirk explains at the 0:25 mark, two seconds after Zac puts the sword in the stage-left sheath.  Zac looks around for a moment.
?Go Zac! You can do it!? calls Kelly-Anna from the sidelines.
?He?s gotta find some other door to get in there!? remarks Kirk.  Zac crawls back through the only open door leaving the Knights? Barracks, reentering the Dragon?s Lair.  He spends a few seconds looking down at the locked door leading downwards, but then climbs back up into the Laser Light Room with 15 seconds left.
?Fifteen seconds left! Hurry!? Kirk shouts.  Zac jogs back across the Bridge and down into the Crevasse from the Room of Temple Gongs.  He makes it to the actuator for the upper crawl tube to the Mine Shaft? but we?re out of time!
?Oh, that?s it!? remarks Kirk. ?These guys both got caught up in a dead end, the doors weren?t opening, they went all the way back? They still get the ?R? Us gift cards, and we gotta get outta here.  Check us out next time for more adventure of another great Legend of the Hidden Temple! Buh-bye!? Kelly-Anna and Kirk wave at the camera, and the Shrine of the Silver Monkey, Knights? Barracks and Dragon?s Lair are shown multiple times as the credits roll.

Temple Run Summary
Episode 47px]

Name of Artifact: The Broken Flask of Louis Pasteur
Season: 2
Layout: 3 (7 overall)
Result: Failed acquisition
Time Remaining: N/A
Team: Orange Iguanas
Pendants Won: 2
Location of Artifact: The Shrine of the Silver Monkey

This is one of those episodes that reminds you that the Temple Run can't be compared to the other rounds.  The Orange Iguanas were first in the Moat and won two Pendants of Life in the Temple Games, but they didn't do as well as one would expect in the Temple Run.  Of course, a very difficult Temple design didn't help at all in that regard.

Just looking at the diagram, it's obvious the producers were trying to trip up kids going for the direct path or even a path involving going down the central shaft and then across the bottom floor.  Kelly-Anna was a horribly slow contestant, so when she was removed from the Knights' Barracks, Zac had only a minute and change to get anything done.

Since the artifact was just a room to the left and there was no passage leading downward, the Knights' Barracks was a complete dead end.  Furthermore, Zac couldn't go down from the Dragon's Lair to the Crystal Cave.  In the last seconds he realized the team made the wrong turn when Kelly-Anna went out onto the Bridge from the Room of Temple Gongs, but time ran out just as he was starting to leave the Crevasse to enter the Mine Shaft.

I wonder if the Blue Barracudas could have fared better, though.  They looked like good players in the Temple Games, and maybe they might have been a bit quicker in the Temple...

Trivia and Records:
This is the only time a dead-end path extends from one of the entrance rooms to only one room away from an artifact (provided, of course, that the artifact was not located in the central shaft).  Usually the dead ends in the Temple designs were much shorter, consisting of only two or at the most three rooms, so this Temple Run is fairly infamous for its setup.  Also, the only way the Orange Iguanas got to the Steps was because of other teams' mistakes? every time they got a question right, it was right after another answered the question wrong.
