Worst temple game performances on the show?
« on: January 05, 2013, 11:52:13 PM »
What were some bad temple game performances on the show? These could be temple games where neither team is doing good at all or one where a player flat out sucks.

The first pitiful temple game performance that comes to mind is in "The Bifocal Monocle of One-Eyed Jack". Thomas and the Red Jaguar boy had to jump through a series of holes via a trampoline. Well, the Red Jaguar boy was beyond pathetic though and he couldn't pull himself up through the second hole. He wasted his whole time pretty much trying to jump through that one hole.

What are some other pathetic temple game performances?

The whole third temple game in "The Codebook of Mata Hari." The Blue Barracuda girl was so pathetic, she couldn't even CLIMB the dragon tunnels, so her partner had to take the scrolls/messages for her. And the Silver Snakes weren't much better, they kept losing their scrolls inside the dragon tunnel. Even though the Blue Barracudas technically should have gone to the temple with 2 pendants, I doubt they would have done better.

Oh wow, I can't believe I forgot about the Mata Hari temple games.  The whole temple game round was laughable. But the last temple game was indeed pathetic though. The Blue Barracuda girl couldn't even pull herself up the first hill in the dragon tunnel, so her partner literally had to go all the way on the other side to help her. I guess that is a good thing she didn't go to the temple? ;)

Another one to add is the "spinning horse" temple game from "The Cracked Crown of the Spanish King". The Green Monkey girl, Winter, fell off her horse after like 7 seconds into the temple game.

Also, the Green Monkey boy from "The Silk Sash of Mulan" deserves a mention too.

There was one Season 1 team temple game where the teams had to pull themselves toward the center of a soapy track, passing pieces of a puzzle that formed red-and-white flag from one side to the other. Both teams put their pieces onto the puzzle backwards, except for one piece by the winning team, which gave them the full pendant and the trip to the temple.

^ I'm pretty sure that particular moment happened in "Elizabeth the First's Golden Ship." Which I thought was way too picky of a rule to me. Even if that rule wasn't in tact, the Red Jaguars still would have gone to the temple. Since they had more flags (I think?) than the Purple Parrots did.

And yeah, I'm honestly glad the Barracudas didn't go to the temple in "Mata Hari," after seeing that temple game performance. If that girl had gone in first, it probably would have been another "Amelia Earhart" type run. I also agree about Mulan and Cracked Crown's temple games as well. Also, the whole temple games round in "The Golden Chains of Zenobia" was pretty painful to watch as well. The Orange Iguanas swept the Purple Parrots because the latter team sucked at their temple games, especially the third game. Where they couldn't even get ONE ring up before the Orange Iguanas got 8 rings in their pole. But then again, the up and down pulley game from Season 1 was always messed up, so I guess I don't blame the Parrots there.

I also wasn't a fan of the Season 1 "team pulley system" game. It tended to be a landslide victory, with one team successfully maneuvering the pulleys and the other team getting stuck and hanging suspended in the middle, or it tended to feature two teams that were equally unsuccessful.

Speaking of "Elizabeth the First", Gabby's temple game that involved the wigs was pretty bad. You know, the one where the teams had to climb to the top of the shaft and place the wigs on the mannequins? There was suppose to be four wigs, but the players could only find three. How did the producers mess that up anyways? That is season one for you.

There have been a couple of temple games where the final score was 0-0 (scoreless). This happened in "The Helmet of Genghis Khan" and "The Jeweled Scabbard of Sforza". The Genghis Khan one was the overused game where the players had to climb up a wet slide and pull at doll down. Well, neither girl could pull a doll down at all. And the Sforza team game had the players throwing rocks over their heads and their partner had to catch it. Neither player got any of the boulders in their containers though. But both temple games used in these episodes were pretty bad, so I don't hold it against these teams for not scoring.

Oh yeah, the Sforza third temple game was just awful. How are any contestants supposed to catch a kick ball, that are just gonna go flying anywhere? No matter how softly they were thrown, the balls were still out of reach for the contestants. I always hated that type of temple game, it always looked too hard and the contestants seemed to struggle with it quite a bit. I agree about the Genghis Khan temple game as well, though it was funny how one of the contestants pulled one of the dolls head off.

Another temple game gone awry is the third temple game from "The Lost Lion Tail of Little John." The Purple Parrots only got to the temple because the Silver Snakes dropped their sign. Only to have a rather subpar temple run.

Yeah, I hated the team game used in the Sforza episode. In some episodes, the teams are able to get a high score like in "The Ivory Hunting Horn of Roland", while in other episodes, both teams struggled like in "The Royal Torque of Queen Boadicea". It was hard for the contestants to synchronize themselves, especially when the other contestant is on the opposite side of the wall.

And I am surprised we went this long without mentioning "The Lost Lion Tail of Little John" fail. :P What an epic fail by the Silver Snakes. They had a trip to the temple at hand, but they screwed up by dropping their sign and had to start over again. And they probably would've done better than Claude too.

I want to mention Jamal's temple game in "Sir Gawain" for being poorly coordinated and badly dubbed over. You can tell that was the first time the producers used the "Swinging Boulder" game.
