Season 1 solo runs
« on: August 30, 2006, 11:32:47 AM »
Has anyone noticed that there were at least 4 or 5 temple runs that could have been solo in season 1 but the contestants made one mistake which cost them the victory such as the lost lariot of pecos bill and the golden jaguar of athualpa?there could of been a solo run in lawrence of arabias headdress if they started at the top and not gone into the room of fallen columns.

Notice that all of those runs involved the same mistake: taking an unnecessary trip to the Heart Room (or the Room of Fallen Columns).  Oh well, at least the Lawrence of Arabia team won.  Some teams cost themselves victory the same way in Season 2 as well, e.g., "The Mask of the Man in the Iron Mask".

Surprisingly, a lot of the temple runs could've been solo runs but were not because of the choices made by the contestants.

Also, a lot of runs where the first player makes a completely unnecessary visit to the Room of the Secret Password (a common room for Temple Guards), the most infamous example being "The Thornwood Gavel of Judge Roy Bean".

surprisingly the pendant of kamehameha could have been solo. when the girl entered the observatory and spun the sundial the bar from the pit to the observatory lifted implying it was open therefore avoiding the two other guards.

the unnessesary trip to the heart room wasn't always the contestants fault. the heart room door always opened first( there was alays a delay for the bar to lift.) of course had the contestants spun the sundaial all the way around to begin with they wouldn't have made the mistake of going down.

How about that Oracle Bowl of Delphi episode? If Shane hadn't gone up to the Gargoyle room, he would have acheived a solo run...and the run wouldn't be so disaterous.

Who's to say there wasn't a temple gaurd in the Shrine or the Treasure Room?

Yeah, I mean Jackie only made it to the Pirates cove before time ran out. If she DID progress further, she could have ran into a temple guard in the shrine or the Treasure Room. (prolly the Treasure Room, as most temple rins are famous for their "one room away" capture).

A lot of the first season losses could have been solo runs. Even the fastest loss in history, Elizabeth I's Golden Ship, could have been a solo win. A number of the runs where the artifact in question was on the bottom floor, particularly in the Swamp (or Spider's Lair, etc.), could have been solo victories if the first player had:

1. started in the Room of the Three Gargoyles (Royal Gongs) and
2. gone straight to the Observatory and
3. avoided entering the Heart Room at all costs. (Actually, avoiding the Heart Room and its various reincarnations in general was a good idea.)

These runs (Henry VIII's Seal, Kamehameha's Pendant, and so on) are the ones that stick out in my mind.

For a lot of season 1 run, especially the early ones, the doors never flew open. The had to slide the doors to open them up. This affected many runs outcomes especially the Dead Man's Hand episode. It seems the Throne/Swamp door simply unlocked while the Heaet Room door visibly opened. Isn't it weird how doors leading across had to be slid open and doors leading up always flew open!
