When the camera fades back in from the commercials, the show's titlecard is superimposed over a shot of the ship's wheel in the Pirate's Cove. The pendant splits, the title shrinks into the distance and shortly after, the camera segues to Kirk and the two remaining teams standing in front of the Coconut Harvest.
"Welcome back to Legends!" says Kirk to the camera. "Now the glory goes to the fastest and the strongest, so let's learn a bit about our two teens? er, teams." He turns camera-left to talk to the Blue Barracudas, starting with a coffee-brown-eyed boy with short dark hair, slightly tanned skin and a blue waterproof coat over his team shirt. "On the Blue Barracudas, we have Mike. How old are you?"
"Twelve," he replies when Kirk holds the microphone up to his mouth.
"And I hear you're really into baseball," Kirk continues, referring to the index card in his hand. "Tell me about that."
"Well, I've been playing Little League for a couple years," answers Mike. "Kind of a big Diamondbacks fan?"
"You hit a home run yet?"
"No, my best was a few doubles? Maybe someday."
"You'll get there; just keep trying," Kirk says to the camera with a smile, before moving to the left extreme of the screen to talk to Mike's partner, a girl with wavy dark hair and dark brown eyes. "And your partner here is Stephanie. How old are you?"
"Thirteen," she replies when Kirk holds the microphone up to her mouth.
"And I understand you like to surf," Kirk reads off the index card in his hand. "How long've you been doing that for?"
"Since I was? seven??" Stephanie tries not to giggle. "My mom used to surf, and she taught me around the same time I was learning to swim."
"They got talent in the family here," Kirk says. "Let's hear it for the Blue Barracudas!" Mike and Stephanie raise their arms and cheer during the audience's round of applause, and Kirk goes to the right side of the camera frame to talk with the Green Monkeys, starting with a blond boy with blue eyes, freckles and a green waterproof coat over his team shirt. "And on the Green Monkeys, we have Zach. How old are you?"
"Thirteen."
"And I hear you like rock climbing and biking, but you also like to write a lot?" comments Kirk. "Do you have a story you're working on?"
"Yeah," answers Zach. "I got this novel I wanna write? it's in the future and it's about this? people living on the first space colony."
"Pretty cool? I'll have to read it when it's published," Kirk remarks before going to the far right of the screen. There he talks to Zach's partner, a hazel-eyed girl with freckles and her chestnut-brown hair tied back in a ponytail with a bright pink scrunchie. "And how old are you, Jessie?"
"Twelve," she replies, two rows of braces visible as she speaks.
"And it says here you run cross-country, and you can speak French?" says Kirk before holding the microphone up to Jessie's mouth.
"Uh? Yeah," she replies nervously. "My mom's side is French-Canadian and I got it from them."
"So how do you say? 'Let's hear it for the Green Monkeys'?" Jessie hesitates. "Or? 'a round of applause' for them?"
"Uhh? 'Une salve d'applaudissements pour les Singes Verts !' " At this point, the audience cheers for the Green Monkeys, who high-five before the audience quiets again.
"All right, now why don't you go get set up for the Temple Games?" Kirk says while pointing offscreen to the left and then to the right. As Kirk faces the camera again, the boys walk off to the right and the girls off to the left. "In the Temple Games, each team is competing to win?" he opens a pouch and pulls out a small gold medallion to show to the camera? " Pendants of Life. The winning team's gonna need those Pendants to protect themselves from the dreaded Temple Guards as they make their way through Olmec's Temple. There are three Temple Games. Olmec: will you tell us about Temple Game #1?"
Olmec begins:
"The attack on Pearl Harbor was a fairly heavy assault, and both sides had to bring a lot of ships to the battle. Behind you is a very slippery slope. When Kirk gives the signal, push the first ship up the slope with your backs until you reach the top. Place the ship there, and water will flow down the slope as you slide back down. Then, take the next ship and do it again.
"The player that ferries the most ships to the top in 60 seconds? wins!"
The camera segues over to Kirk standing in front of the equipment. "All right, they gotta push the ships against the tides," he comments. "Let's set the clock for 60 seconds?" With a banging sound effect, a countdown clock drops into the bottom-right corner of the screen, and Kirk dashes out of the camera frame. "Might wanna get up to the starting line?" Both players edge up a little. "On your marks, get set, GO!"
Mike and Zach press their hands and feet against the raised sides of the slopes as they push the first ships up their respective slopes. "There they go! It's kind of a challenge, but they gotta use just their backs!" The two players are practically neck-and-neck for the first quarter or so, but Zach eventually pulls ahead of Mike, and gets to the top of the slope with just over forty seconds to go. He takes a few seconds to get the first ship on the rack behind the water hole, but places it with 37 seconds to go, just after Mike recovers from a slight slip. A stream of water flows down the slope as Zach slides down to the bottom to retrieve his next ship.
"All right, the Green Monkeys got their first one! There comes the water!" Zach slides down to the bottom, then grabs the second ship and starts moving up the slope again. Mike finally gets his first ship on the rack with 29 seconds remaining, and slides down. "Blue Barracudas just tied it up, but the Green Monkeys have plenty of time to stay ahead!" Both players slip a few times on their second tries, however. Most notably, Mike falls almost halfway down the slope with fourteen seconds on the clock. "Both teams having trouble, but the Blue Barracudas? that could cost them!" Ultimately Zach reaches the top of the slope again with eight seconds to go, and reaches around to put his second ship on the rack. He does so successfully and slides down with just three seconds left. "Green Monkeys scored again? can the Blue Barracudas tie it up?" In the last seconds, Mike reaches the top of the slope, but he doesn't even have enough time to turn around and place the ship? before he can, the clock reaches zero and splinters, and a pattern of ceiling spotlights flashes to let the players know the first Temple Game is over.
"All right, that's it! C'mon down!" Kirk calls; Mike slides down the slope and lands at the bottom with a splash before Kirk runs over, trying to stifle a laugh. "Nice? nice splash! All right?" Both boys stand up and join Kirk outside the collection pools at the bottom of the slopes. "The Blue Barracudas got one ship to the top, but the Green Monkeys got two, at the last minute! That gives them the half-Pendant of Life!" The audience applauds for a few moments before allowing Kirk to continue. "The Blue Barracudas can catch up in the next game; it's worth a half-Pendant. Olmec: tell us about it."
Olmec continues:
"Kazuo Sakamaki tried his hardest to avoid being captured by American forces. While he tried to blow up his own ship? you're going to sneak away from the enemy here. When Kirk gives the signal, choose a platform and step out onto it. If the platform sinks, it means you've been caught, and you must run back and try again.
"The first player to make it to the other side? or the player that's made it the furthest without capture at the end of 60 seconds? wins!"
"All right! A race to? outrun the enemy, I guess?" Kirk shakes it off as the camera segues over to him standing in front of the equipment. "Let's put 60 seconds on the clock?" The countdown clock bangs down and stops in the bottom-right corner of the screen, while a green half-Pendant appears in the upper-right corner. Kirk then backs out of the camera frame as the camera zooms out a little to show the entire set of equipment and the two girls on the stage-right platform. "On your marks, get set, GO!"
Stephanie and Jessie start out by moving directly forward for their first steps? in the closest-to-the-foreground column (C1) for Stephanie and furthest-from-the-foreground (F1) for Jessie? and then try to step out onto the middle step in the second row (M2). Jessie moves a little quicker, which leads to Stephanie following her from one step behind. "These girls are tough! They're moving fast now!" Sure enough, Jessie leads Stephanie to F3 and M4 in a matter of seconds, without either of them sinking. It isn't much longer until Jessie makes it to F5 and M6; she steps onto the latter with 48 seconds on the clock. "This is unbelievable! Nobody's fallen yet!" Jessie continues to C7 a moment later, but when she steps out to M8, it sinks, finally sending the Green Monkeys back with 44 seconds left!
"Agh, Green Monkeys gotta go back," Kirk remarks as Stephanie safely steps onto C8, "but can the Blue Barracudas make it across?" Stephanie begins to hesitate a lot after the obvious step, however; she eventually makes it out to M9 with 41 seconds left. "Blue Barracudas need just one more to win?!" After a few moments of contemplation, she steps out onto C10, which remains stable. She then moves onto the far platform, causing the countdown clock to freeze at :37, then fade along with the half-Pendant visual.
"That's it! That was fast!" exclaims Kirk as he runs over. Stephanie jumps off the far camera-left platform to join him, and Jessie steps off M4 to meet both of them. "Luck really came through for the Blue Barracudas? she didn't even fall, and she made it to the other side, giving her a half-Pendant of Life!" The audience cheers again, but Jessie looks a little bitter as Kirk and Stephanie high-five. "So now it's all tied up, at a half a Pendant apiece," he continues, "but this next Temple Game is worth a full Pendant. Olmec: tell us about the third and final game?"
Olmec narrates:
"In the attack on Pearl Harbor, the Americans and the Japanese both sank many of each others' ships. In this game, you and your partner must only sink three. One of you is suspended in a sack. When Kirk gives the signal, swing your partner at one of the ship and sink it by knocking it over.
"The first team to sink all three ships? or the team that's sunken the most ships after 30 seconds? wins."
The camera transitions over to Kirk, the two teams facing camera-left behind him with the Blue Barracudas closer to the camera. "This is for the Temple," he declares before the camera switches to an overhead shot. "Let's put sixt? er, 30 seconds on the clock?" Kirk dashes off to the left as the countdown clock reappears in the bottom-right corner, along with a blue half-Pendant in the upper-left corner and a green one in the upper-right. "On your marks, get set, GO!"
Mike and Zach pull back the sacks containing their partners, and push them in different directions: Mike appears to be aiming towards the center target for his team, Zach towards the leftmost one for his, but within seconds, both targets are knocked over. "These are fast team!" Kirk remarks as the girls swing back. "Blue started dead center, Green's going left to right? but now they both gotta change direction, and that's tough!" Sure enough, the Blue Barracudas have some trouble reaching either of the still-standing targets on the second try, but Jessie swings towards and kicks over the Green Monkeys' center target with a full nineteen seconds to go. "Blue Barracudas having a little trouble, but the Green Monkeys need just one more to win!" The boys swing their partners out again, but Jessie swings a bit too far to the left of the final target and not far enough out, giving the Blue Barracudas enough time to knock down their leftmost target (:14). "Next target to fall? wins it!" On the next attempt, however, the Green Monkeys swing a bit faster, and knock over the rightmost target with ten seconds left.
"That's over! C'mon over guys!" Kirk declares, running onscreen as the indicators disappear. The boys join Kirk just in front of the foul lines on the ground while spotters soon walk over and work on freeing the girls from the sacks. "The Blue Barracudas had two of their targets, but the Green Monkeys had all three! They get the full Pendant, giving them a Pendant and a half; the Blue Barracudas only had a half. The Green Monkeys are goin' to the Temple!" Zach jumps up to high-five Jessie while she is still suspended; she ends up tilting the sack a little and accidentally kicks one of the two spotters in the shin. "They're?" Kirk holds back a laugh as he looks on. "They're excited; they worked hard and came through! But the Blue Barracudas won't be going away empty-handed; we got a great gift for 'em and here's what it is." Mike and Stephanie will each be receiving a $50 iTunes gift card.
The camera cuts away from the consolation prize, and now Kirk and the Green Monkeys are standing next to the sack Jessie was standing in. The players jump up and shout before Kirk continues. "The Green Monkeys're fired up," he declares, "and we'll see if they can make it through Olmec's Temple and retrieve the Missing Mast Piece? right after this!" The camera whizzes past Kirk's head and over to the Coconut Harvest, where it focuses in on the bucket. As it zooms in, the show's logo reforms over the shot; the camera then fades to black for commercials.
