The Treasure Room / The Dented Shield of Sun Tzu
« on: December 16, 2006, 05:45:52 PM »
I had actually thought about the Rock Quarry/Center of Temple door a week before this was posted.  The idea of a design that required backtracking into the Rock Quarry (although a different design) was hypothetically thrown in the mix by Nicklegends in the Rock Quarry thread I started.  This design is very interesting.  Probably would have made for a good 3 minutes of tv.

The Dark Forest / "Legends" parody

Pretty funny parody.  Gotta like the "banter" between Kirk and Olmec.  Kirk just doesn't know when to keep his mouth shut.

The Heart Room / Which would You Take?
« on: December 03, 2006, 08:23:36 AM »
Well, I think I'd take these 3 things with me:
1.  The bucket from the Well/Rock Quarry, along with the pulley, so I can hide stuff.
2.  The Mask of Shaka Zulu.  It looks like something that people would hang up on a wall in their house.l
3. The Throne.  It would be my lounge chair, although I would add some cushioning because I'm fairly certain that the throne on the show didn't have any.  Can't wait until someone claims they would take the throne and convert it to a toilet (also referred to as a throne from time to time).

The Pit / Live Kirk Fogg Interview
« on: September 30, 2006, 06:43:48 PM »
If you're wondering, the station that did the interview is the on-campus radio station for SUNY Albany in Albany, New York, which happens to be 8 miles from where I am right now.  Had I known about it earlier (as in before it occurred), I might have given it a live listen on the radio (although their range for their signal isn't exactly great).

The Heart Room / The Infamous Cricket Cage run

John was so smart, that when the Throne Room-Spider's Lair door didn't open, be backtracked to the Cave of Size???

Like I said, he was apprehensive.  Probably thought the temple was going to be a little easier than he thought.  At least he realized his mistake.

The Heart Room / The Infamous Cricket Cage run
« on: August 24, 2006, 05:46:34 PM »
I'll be honest here about this run.  I believe that the first runner for the Snakes in the temple actually did know what he was doing, unlike what the summaries of the run on Nicklegends' site says.  He was just a little apprehensive, that's all (not unlike Miriam from The Secret Map of the Bandit Queen).  Truthfully, he accessed all 4 of the rooms in the run in less than a minute before being removed in the Heart Room.  This was quite common in the first season, actually.
His teammate, however, probably did not know what to do.  She just wandered around aimlessly (more or less) for the remaining 2 minutes.  Since it was still relatively early on, maybe the workings of the temple weren't described to her well enough by the production staff?  Is it possible that the correct route all along was to go straight to the Observatory from the Wall Climb instead of going into the Throne Room and then going up the shaft?

The Heart Room / The Best and Worst Temple Prizes
« on: August 18, 2006, 01:52:34 PM »
I don't know about the best temple prize, but the worst medium prize was the Singaleodeon (the karaoke machine).  At the time, those retailed for $75-90.  Ultra cheap for a medium prize (that was often the "you automatically get it for entering the temple" prize.)  Had a bad experience with one around 1994.  Got it for Christmas and it broke within 2 days, forcing a return to Bradlees (for those of you who've never heard of it, it was a New England-based discount store chain that got run out of the industry by Wal-Mart in the 1990's).

EDIT:  What I meant by "run out of the industry" is much closer to "undersold."  They couldn't compete with the infamously "Always Low Prices."

The Heart Room / The Cheesiest Legend Story

Maybe the Snowcone of Mount Kilmanjaro in Season 3.  Yes, the mountain is snowcapped, but they made it sound like it was a tasty treat.

The Heart Room / What are things on "Legends"...
« on: July 16, 2006, 05:00:19 PM »
Definitely better prizes for the contestants.  They were really skimping at times during the show's run.  A $50 savings bond for losing in a tiebreaker after the Temple Games?  Weak.

The Heart Room / My thoughts on teams entering the temple

It was always an inconvenience to begin in the Ledges in Season 3 because, not only did it take longer than the Crypt to enter and exit, but also because of the trouble of climbing up the wall if the Tomb door didn't open (which nearly always had a temple guard, anyway).

The contestants did have the option of shoving over the column with their hands, but this was only done twice in the third season.

I was thinking about that whole Pit of the Pendulum thing and came to the conclusion that if I were on the show, I would have jumped on the column instead of swinging down.  If I got to go down into the Tomb of the Headless Kings, it would have saved me a few seconds.  It would have also saved a few seconds had I had to go up because I would have to waste time trying to swing back across (that was accomplished about twice in the entire 3rd season).

The Heart Room / Rock Quarry
« on: July 03, 2006, 05:56:51 PM »
As you guys more than likely already know, the show introduced the Rock Quarry in part of Season 2.  I liked this setup more than the Wheel Room of the previous season, but it got me thinking.  There was space in the Rock Quarry to still access the door to Medusa's Lair.  Nobody actually tried this, but do you guys think that it could have been possible to go to Medusa's Lair from the Rock Quarry?  Or, do you think the crew simply deactivated the actuator for the week or two that the Rock Quarry was there.

The Heart Room / This is going to sound a little odd
« on: July 02, 2006, 09:36:05 AM »
I can't remember what episode it was, but I know that it was in the 1st season.  They just zoomed in on him like he was a normal audience member.  I only remember it from the original airing back in 1993.

I think that in one of the Season 1 episodes, when they were going off on one of the commercial breaks, I swear that the camera zoomed in on Donkeylips from Salute Your Shorts just randomly sitting in the audience with a grin on his face.  It was the oddest thing.  And I only saw it once.  I was wondering if anyone else noticed that, or if I just imagined this.

The Heart Room / Avoiding Temple guards?

However, it would depend on the production staff's readiness with the robotics (for the arms).  There were times where the arms moved long before grabbing somebody.
Actually, according to a recent interview from http://legendsofthehiddentemple.piczo.com (The Shrine of the Silver Monkey), there was actually a crewsman sealed in the tree. I thought it was robotics too before I read the interview.

Ouch, having to stay sealed in that tree must have stunk big time.  That guy had to have spent hours in there on taping days.  I could understand based on that how it would smell like ''3 year old B.O.,'' as was stated in said interview.  This also sounds a little like a cost cutting program, in order to avoid using expensive robotics.

The Jesters' Court / You know what's a funny word?

This came up at work today.  The word "Hyjinks" or "Hijinx," or however it's spelled is quite funny to say.
