I hate the timer. Worst thing in the Millionaire game, ever. The Regis Philbin era of the show that was an hour long was amazing. Half hour show with Meredith Vierra (sp?) sucks. It was ok at first, but the timer killed it.

I agree, though I didn't mind Meredith's run on Millionaire circa 2003. There were no more fastest fingers, but there was no clock either.

Well, I wouldn't have minded the clock as much if the questions were a tad easier.  It seemed like even the first five were a bit trickier than in past seasons, and having only fifteen seconds for each before you were ejected from the game didn't help matters.  I think it just added too much pressure, although a little more time to work with could've helped...

I do like the new format, though.  It's really grown on me, and I'm happy enough with it that I really do want to try out for the show in spite of the changes.

I mean, you got all these categories to choose from and if you get it right, a random money amount appears and apparently goes into a bank total. I haven't even seen someone miss a question during this stage. I flip through the channels too much I guess. Then after that, there are 5 more questions and I forget what money amount it starts with. Do you walk away with the money you earned in the bank?

Well, in Round 1, you only take half the bank if you walk.  You get to leave with all of it once you get to Round 2, though, where the game plays the same as Classic Millionaire.

I don't even recall them doing that more than once, you know.  Aside from a two-day tournament late in Season 2 of prime-time, I don't think it was ever done again (but somebody else could feel free to correct me).

As far as I know, returning contestants aren't very common on the show.
