Season 4, Layout 1, Episode 4 ? The Broken Sword of Otto von Bismarck

*The camera traverses quickly through several plants to simulate a thick rainforest. It eventually makes its way to a large stone head. Its eyes light up and it begins to speak.*

OLMEC: Legends of the Hidden Temple!

*The camera zooms along the first and up to second floor of the temple*

OLMEC: With your guide, Kirk Fogg...

*Camera zips down the Pharaoh's Secret Passage, and busts through the Quicksand Bog wall*

OLMEC: ...and here he is now.

*Kirk arrives from off camera in a Jeep that stops before The Steps of Knowledge*

KIRK: Thank you very much. Thank you. Nice to see you. Thank you, Olmec. Welcome to Legends of the Hidden Temple. The rooms are filled with lost treasures that are protected by mysterious Mayan Temple Guards. Only Olmec knows the legend behind each of the treasures in his temple. Which one are we gonna hear about today?

OLMEC: The Broken Sword of Otto von Bismarck

KIRK: Oh, the Broken Sword of Otto von Bismarck. Well, one of our six teams will have a chance to retrieve the Sword. Will it be... the Red Jaguars... or the Blue Barracudas... maybe the Green Monkeys... how about the Orange Iguanas... perhaps the Purple Parrots... or even the Silver Snakes. They?re gonna have to pass some tough physical and mental tests, and in the end only one team will have the right to enter Olmec's Temple. But, first they must cross the moat and Olmec will tell us how they'll have to do it today.

ROUND 1: THE MOAT

OLMEC: Before you lie several ancient vines which have fallen across the Moat. When Kirk gives the signal, one player from each team will grab on to a rope without touching the water and swing over to the next vine. Then grab the second vine, and swing on it and so on. When you reach the other side, that will be your partner's signal to do the same. If you fall into the water or if you miss a vine, you must go back and begin again. When both players are on the other side, run over and hit the gong. *Kirk hits a gong for clarification* The first four teams to hit their gongs will go on to the next round.

KIRK: Alright. Teams, are you ready? *Players cheer in excitement* Olmec, are you ready?

OLMEC: LET'S GET SWINGIN'!!!

KIRK: On you mark... get set... GO!!!

Results:
1st: Red Jaguars
2nd: Purple Parrots
3rd: Orange Iguanas
4th: Silver Snakes

KIRK: Alright? pulled it out in the clutch, and going on to the Steps of Knowledge are: the Red Jaguars... and the Purple Parrots... the Orange Iguanas... and the Silver Snakes. Green Monkeys and Blue Barracudas gave it a great effort, too. We've got a nice gift for them, and here's what it is...

ROUND 2: STEPS OF KNOWLEDGE

KIRK: As the quest continues, it is now time for Olmec to tell us about the Broken Sword of Otto von Bismarck. But pay attention teams, because your knowledge of the legend could bring you a step closer to the Olmec?s temple.

OLMEC: *tells the story of the legend* ?Your quest is to retrieve the Broken Sword of Otto von Bismarck and bring it back here.

KIRK: Thanks, Olmec. So tell us: Where is the Broken Sword?

OLMEC: The Broken Sword of Otto von Bismarck can be found in the Shrine of the Silver Monkey.

KIRK: Ooh Teams, you're now standing on the Steps of Knowledge. In a minute, Olmec will ask you a question. If you think you know the answer, you?ll need to stomp down on the ancient marking in front of you. If you're right, you're gonna move down to the next level. But, if you're wrong or run out of time, I'm gonna give the other teams a chance to answer. The first two teams to make it to the bottom level will be one step closer to the Temple. Olmec, we're now ready for your first question.

[Questions & Answers]

Results:
1st: Silver Snakes
2nd: Purple Parrots
3rd: Orange Iguanas [2 correct]
4th: Red Jaguars [2 correct]

KIRK: We've got our two teams going on to the Temple Games. It's the Silver Snakes... and the Purple Parrots. Great job! Orange Iguanas and Red Jaguars come on down here. You guys gave it a great effort too. We've got a nice gift for you, and here's what it is:

ROUND 3: TEMPLE GAMES

KIRK: Welcome back to Legends. Now the glory goes to the fastest and the strongest. But, before we get started, I wanna take some time to find out about our team players. On the Silver Snakes we have Erin. She?s into softball and she wants to be a pediatrician when she gets older. And her partner, Chris enjoys hockey and he likes to collect baseball cards. Let's hear it for the Silver Snakes. And over on the Purple Parrots we have Tasha. She likes basketball and wants to be really rich when she gets older. And Erik is into computers and he has a very large CD collection. Let's hear it for the Purple Parrots. Why don't you two get ready for the first Temple Game. And, you two go over there for Game Number 2. Now, in the Temple Games, our teams are competing to win, oh here they are, Pendants of Life. The winning team is gonna need those pendants to protect themselves from the dreaded Temple Guards as they make their way through the Temple. There are three Temple Games. Olmec, tell us about Temple Game Number 1.

TEMPLE GAME 1

OLMEC: Otto von Bismarck had to work hard to make his way to the top of his nation, which is just what you are about to do. Each of you has a flag in hand representing your seizing of the throne. When Kirk gives the signal, one member from each team will throw their flag up through the hole on the first level. Then you will jump up through the hole to that level, and you will continue on up through each hole. When you reach the top, you will place the flag in the slot in front. The first player to stick their flag at the top or the player who?s further along at the end of 60 seconds wins

KIRK: Let?s take this nation over as we put 60 seconds up on the clock. *Clock is set for 60 seconds* On your mark... Get set... GO!

Results:
Silver Snakes: Up to 2nd level.
Purple Parrots: Up to 2nd level.

KIRK: Alright. Time?s up. Let?s see what we?ve got here. Come on down, guys. Great job, it was a tough match, but they each managed to get to the 2nd level when time was up. So they each get? a half Pendant of Life. Great job, everybody. Next game is worth a half pendant. Olmec, tell us about it.

TEMPLE GAME 2

OLMEC: Otto von Bismarck?s sword was quite useful to him before it broke. And now he wants you to get it down for him. When Kirk gives the signal, one player from each team will climb up to the top, grab the sword and climb back down. The first player to successfully bring the sword or the player who is further along at the end of 30 seconds wins.

KIRK: They are all tied up right now. So let?s put six-, no, thirty seconds on the clock? *Clock is set for 30 seconds* On your mark... Get set... GO!

Results:
Silver Snakes: 1
Purple Parrots: 1

KIRK: Ok, let?s check it out. Come on down. Slowly. Ok. Well they each managed to get one sword piece down. So they each get another Half Pendant of Life. This is an amazing match. It?s gonna come down to the wire. I can feel it. We now go to the Third and final Game. It?s worth a Full Pendant. Olmec, please tell us about it.

TEMPLE GAME 3

OLMEC: During the mid-1800s, Prussia faced a revolution in which Otto von Bismarck had to recruit people to fight. And now he has just recruited you. Before you are four member of the opposing movement. When Kirk gives the signal one player from each team will load a ball into the sling-shot and launch it at an opposing forces, knocking him down. The first team to knock down all four members OR the team who knocks down the most members at the end of 60 seconds wins.

KIRK: Revolution is on. So, let's put 60 seconds on the clock. *Clock is set for 60 seconds* On your mark... Get set... GO!

Results:
Silver Snakes: 4
Purple Parrots: 3
0:22 remaining

KIRK: That?s it. that?s it. Great job, Silver Snakes. They managed to just beat out the Purple Parrots in getting the last soldier down. That gives them the Full Pendant, giving them 2. The Purple Parrots had 1. The Silver Snakes will be going to the Temple. *Silver Snakes cheer in joy* Amazing job. It was such a close match but these Purple Parrots won?t go away empty-handed. Here?s what we?ve got for you.

DEE BAKER: [Announces Prize]

KIRK: We're gonna see if the Silver Snakes can retrieve the Broken Sword of Otto von Bismarck, right after these messages.

FINAL ROUND: OLMEC'S TEMPLE

KIRK: Welcome back to Legends. Erin and Chris have proven themselves worthy, and have earned the right to enter Olmec's Temple. But first, Olmec's gonna give them some information that'll help them retrieve the The Broken Sword of Otto von Bismarck.

OLMEC: You could start by running up the stairs into the Crypt. Grab the book from the skeletons, and pass down the stairway, and across the Bridge of Fate. Next, you could choose to head up into the Eternal Light Room. Hit each light switches in the correct sequence, and that'll lead you into the Chamber of the Sacred Markers. Match the symbols on the right with the rules on the left, and pass into the King's Storeroom. Smash the clay pots to find the key, that'll allow you to enter the Shrine of the Silver Monkey. Assemble the statue there and you may be headed for the Room of Mystical Keys. Find the 2 keys in the holes and place them in their correct key holders to open the door to the Pharaoh's Secret Passage. Slide down the tunnel into the Quicksand Bog, where you could smash through to the Dark Forest. But beware of the Temple Guards that may inhabit the trees. Find the key in the trees, and you will enter the Labyrinth of Torment. Find the correct switch hidden somewhere in the maze, and you will gain entry to the Tomb of the Headless Kings. Pull the vines to release their bones, and pass the missing skull to its proper king. Then, race through the Vine Jungle, climb through the Ledges, race down the stairs and back through the Temple Gate. The choices are yours and yours alone. You won 2 Pendants in the Temple Games. Who's going first?

CHRIS: I am!

OLMEC: Very well, Chris! When Kirk gives the signal you'll race through the gates, into the Temple, and make your way toward the Broken Sword. Hidden inside the Temple are Temple Guards, assigned to protect three specific rooms. You can trade your pendant for an extra life and go on. But, if you're caught without a pendant, you will be taken out of the Temple, and it will be Erin's turn to enter and try her luck. If you can reach the Sword, all of the doors in the Temple will instantly unlock, and the Temple Guards will vanish. Return through the gates with the Otto von Bismarck in three minutes and you will both be handsomely rewarded, and here's how:

Season: 4
Layout: 1
Result: Made It!
Time Remaining: 0:17
Team: Silver Snakes
Pendants Won: 2
Location of Artifact: Shrine of the Silver Monkey

This team made a steady pace all the way through. Chris entered the Temple and heads down. He encounters a Temple Guard in the Tomb, and another in the Labyrinth of Torment. Erin makes it to Chris?s last position with just under 1 minute and 30 seconds to go. She made it through the bottom and up to the Room of the Mystical Keys, where a 3rd Guard awaited. She managed to grab the Sword with just under 40 seconds to spare and made a mad dash for the finish. A very steady run, and well played

KIRK: Oh, they made it! They did it. They get it all. Erin blazed through after snatching that sword. Amazing speed. How did you do that?

ERIN: I don?t know. I just knew I had to get out of there fast. I guess.

KIRK: And you did a great job. Well, we gotta get outta here, too. We'll see you again next time for another great Legend of... the Hidden Temple. Buh-bye, everybody.
