What do you think were the best and worst prizes given away to teams who made it to the Temple? I can think of a few.
The best, for me, was the trampoline people got just for getting into the temple. All you have to do is know how to walk up a few stairs, and you'll get a trampoline. My cousins used to have one, and I've always wanted to get one. When I saw that prize, I was so angry the show had been cancelled. Usually, the teams got something lame like a remote-controlled car, but this topped every single "For Just Getting into the Temple" prize.
The worst prize was also one you got for just entering the temple. It was an acquarium. You know, not everybody wants to buy fish. I personally have had a bad experience with a fish. My sister brought home a fish from her summer school last year, and it died a day later. Although if you didn't want it, you could just use it as a trophy case (assuming you have one) or a water cooler.

I always thought the bikes were good prizes. Also, in "The Secret Map of the Bandit Queen", the first temple prize was a TV. Not bad for just getting there.
The worst? Nikko Scorpions! Not even Dee's helium voice could get one excited about remote-control cars.
-
The worst was the microscopes by far.
-
Best: I remember one team got a game chair for their efforts. I thought that was pretty cool. And of course, the grand prize trips are always awesome.
Worst: Probably the RC cars.

I don't know about the best temple prize, but the worst medium prize was the Singaleodeon (the karaoke machine). At the time, those retailed for $75-90. Ultra cheap for a medium prize (that was often the "you automatically get it for entering the temple" prize.) Had a bad experience with one around 1994. Got it for Christmas and it broke within 2 days, forcing a return to Bradlees (for those of you who've never heard of it, it was a New England-based discount store chain that got run out of the industry by Wal-Mart in the 1990's).
EDIT: What I meant by "run out of the industry" is much closer to "undersold." They couldn't compete with the infamously "Always Low Prices."

i'd have to say those cheap skateboards. :?

*sigh* Bradlees... they turned that old building into a "The Dump". :?

Bradlees went bankrupt. They weren't necessarily run out of the industry by the Waltons.
-
I always thought The Compton?s Interactive CD Rom was a lame prize. Who wants something educational?
-
Man, I loved Bradlee's, even though NYC isn't New England haha, they still had them.
-
Trips to Universal Studios in Florida.
"Congratulations, you can go outside!"
Losers are subsequently chained away in basements. Hence, the props for the Crypt and the Tomb of the Headless Kings.

Also, lest we forget, whenever a player entered the Dungeon, Kirk always pointed out that "a few people didn't make it out of there".
-
I don't know about Temple prize, but for the losers who didn't make it past the Moat, they gave away a can of Chef Boyardee. That one cracks me up to this day.
-
I loved it when the losers from the moat got $50 and the ones who made it to the temple messed up and only got RC cards worth about half as much. Irony, sweet vengeful irony.
-
All the Singelodeon talk earlier reminds me...it's a bad 2nd prize anyway, but it seemed especially so in "The Broken Wing of Icarus". The team already botched a perfectly good shot at winning, and walking away with only a cheap karaoke machine just adds insult to injury.
-
That "Surprise Bag" you can find those at the Dollar Tree. and Don't forget about those 50 dollar savings bonds. They're probably just now actually worth 50 dollars.
-
I always thought those little handheld video games were really crappy.
-
Consolation prizes before the Temple?
Worst: The Surprise Bag. Starkist Tuna. Anything that couldn't really work for both genders (Sky Dancers included, of course).
Best: We all know I LOVED the BK Ratch-Tech. If I were on the show and didn't make it to the Temple, I'd be happy with those. ^^
Temple Run first or second prizes?
Worst: Either the Singalodeon or the RC cars, but probably the latter. The Singalodeon was still pretty bad, though.
Best: I liked the video game chair and the bikes.
Vacations?
Worst: Roseland Ranch seemed particularly unexciting for some reason. Busch Gardens wasn't particularly out-of-reach either, mind you.
Best: Definitely the Hawaii trip that Jared and Katie failed to get.
-
Are you forgetting StarKist Tuna?
-
Why yes I was. XD;;
-
I kinda liked the Game Table for the temple too. I think it was used in the last few days of Season 3.
I love how Kirk forgot all the prizes in "The Ruby Earring of Benzibab". =D
-
How about luggage? Yeah, kids just love luggage.
The Leopard Skin Cloak of Annie Oakley kids got luggage for getting to the temple.
-
Acctually I remember my dad telling me that an R.C. car in 1994 probably cost around 70 dollars, so it wasn't a total ripoff.
-
The kids who lost at the Steps in Lawrence of Arabia's Headdress got a Fashion Bug prize package. I'm sure the boys were ecstatic over that.
-
For me,the $50 dollars savings bond from Chef Boyardee's(probably not spelled right), and the gift pack from Willy wonka's and the nerds rope.Phew, they make the sinalodeon look good :p
-
I always thought that the Outdoor Products camping gear wasn't too good.
-
I remember thinking that the worst prize was the savings bond. Ugh. Yeah, it'll do you good in the long run, but no kid wants to win a savings bond on a game show.
-
Best: a trip to the Bahamas. Sounds really good to me.
Worst: I'm surprised no one has mentioned this one yet. It's the Philips CD-I Player. Watch the AVGN's review of it and a few of its games (Mario and Zelda) on Youtube. After watching all three parts, you'll be begging to have Chef Boyardee instead of the CD-I.
-
At least the CD-i would be worth something nowadays :P
-
Other than YouTube Poop fuel? :P

Other than YouTube Poop fuel? :P
This is what I was thinking, but I was too afraid to say it. :|
-
I pretty much agree with the best/worst temple prizes. Though I don't know much about CD-I. I remember in, "The Discarded Seal of Ivan the Terrible," the losing teams all got the same prizes. Talk about being so repetitive.
-
PPF, if you want to learn more about the CD-I, search for the AVGN's (Angry Video Game Nerd) review of it and a few games that go with it on Youtube. It's in 3 parts, so you might want to start with the first part. That guy curses a lot, so view at your own risk. ;)
