[Purple Parrots Fan]

Yeah, we can work on Lion Slashed Jacket next. Since we have that episode listed as a collaboration in the OP. I still want to do Silk Ladder too, we can work on that after you're done with Golden Goblet. That episode must be so dull and lackluster it's taken you three days to write it.

[The Red Jaguars]

At long last, here is my review for "Attila the Hun".  It really was a boring and lackluster episode, which is why it took me a long time to complete. It was no secret either that this episode was great either way. Don't be surprised by the score this episode gets either. It really does deserve a low score. Otherwise, "enjoy" this review. 

THE GOLDEN GOBLET OF ATTILA THE HUN

MOAT: 4/10

In front of each team were a series of floating rings, and the players had to crawl through these rings individually in order to reach the other side. Crawling through the rings won't be easy though, and the players had to crawl through each ring before they can reach the other side. Once both players crossed successfully, then they could hit their gongs. The first four teams to cross successfully will proceed to the Steps of Knowledge. As expected, this moat was kind of long because it was pretty tricky for the contestants to complete. Furthermore, it was one of those moats where it takes the last time a long time to cross. I did enjoy the idea for the moat, but the competition was weak and could've been better.

LEGEND: 3/10

The most ruthless and feared leader of the mid 400's was the conqueror, Attila the Hun. He organized his nomadic people that caused destruction across Europe in a great wave. They were poised outside the gates in one of the most powerful cities in the world, Rome. Attila captured the local Chieftain and his daughter. His daughter asked Attila to spare her father in turn that she will marry him. Attila wanted to marry the daughter, but still do away with her father. The daughter did not want to hear of it, and did away with both of them. Attila's adviser, Aug, noticed that Attila has been cranky recently. When asked why he was cranky, Attila blamed it on the heat. Aug tells him that it will be humid the next day. Disgusted, Attila throws down his Golden Goblet and heads back to Budapest without it.

This was a weak legend that made no sense to me at all. First it talked about Attila's army attacking Rome and capturing the Chieftain's daughter, and then it talks about how Attila does not like the weather? This legend was a mess and made very little sense. The legend claims that Attila the Hun was a strong warrior, but the story paints him as a little girl instead. And like most legends on the show, the voice acting was lame and very childish. It was not funny at all if that was the intentions of it. 

STEPS OF KNOWLEDGE: 4/10

Just like the previous rounds so far, this round was pretty weak. There was some close competition between the Silver Snakes and Purple Parrots for the final spot, but it was not exciting in anyways. Furthermore, the Green Monkeys boy alone had 3 wrong answers during this round. Not only that screwed his teams' chance of advancing, but it also allowed the other teams to have an easier shot at answering a question correctly. The Silver Snakes had a wrong answer also, The Purple Parrots and Red Jaguars were competent at least to get all their answers right without a wrong answer. Other than that, this round was lame and boring.

TEMPLE GAMES: 4/10

The two teams competing for a chance into Olmec's temple includes Rachelle and Taylor of the Red Jaguar and Brett and Jill of the Purple Parrots. The temple games were very weak and unremarkable in this episode. None of the temple game wins were convincing at all and they won with very little numbers. The temple games did come down to a tiebreaker, but I did not enjoy the temple games despite the close competition. Plus, it looked like the Purple Parrots girl did not even want to be on the show in the first place. Another boring and dull round for this episode.

Temple Game #1 - Finance Attila's Army

When Attila conquered a city, he would steal all of the gold to finance his army. In this temple game, Jill and Taylor had to collect pieces of gold by jumping up to them from their teeter-totter. Once they grabbed a piece of gold, they simply had to place it into their bin. The player who collects the most gold after 60 seconds will win. This was probably the most pathetic performance I have ever seen for this temple game. It took both players 30 seconds to even reach their first gold. And even after that, they still struggled to gather their gold. The end result was 3-2 Red Jaguars.

Temple Game #2 - Ride the Horse into Battle

In the second temple game, Rachelle and Brett had to ride their horses into battle. To do this, they had to grip onto their horse very tightly while it was spinning. The player that falls off their first after 60 seconds will give their opponent the half-pendant for this temple game. Nothing to really say about this temple game except that it looked like both players wanted to fall off. Rachelle was the first one to fall off though, and the Purple Parrots earn a half-pendant. The Pendant score going into the final temple game will be 0.5-0.5.

Temple Game #3 - Conquer a City

In the final temple game, the two players on each team must help Attila defeat an army. To do this, one player was suspended from the ceiling inside a body bag. Their partners had to take the sack and try to knock over all three soldiers with it. They could not cross the line though when trying to knock over a soldier. The team that knocks down the most soldiers after 60 seconds will win. Both teams only managed to knock down one soldier a piece, ending the game in a 1-1 tie. With both teams having 1.5 pendants each, the temple games end in a tiebreaker. Like usual, the Purple Parrots lose the tiebreaker and are sent packing home. The Red Jaguars are the team that have a chance to enter Olmec's temple.

TEMPLE RUN: 5/10

Rachelle was one of the very few contestants to spend all three minutes in the temple and not reach the artifact at all. Part of it was bad luck and part of it was that she just wasn't qualified to be a frontrunner. The layout she had to endure was pretty long though, and it probably had to do with her having bad luck with the rooms she entered. She completed her rooms at such a sluggish pace though. But still, she did make it far with her layout despite entering a bunch of rooms. If she bothered to move a little faster, than her partner might've had a shot at the temple. There is really not a lot to say about this temple run except for that it was boring and Rachelle was just an average player at best. She entered 9 rooms of the temple before her time ended in the Shrine. And all of those rooms had an objective to them also, so its not like she was pissing her time away like Kristen from "Lucky Pig" or Sabrina from "Blackbeard". At the end of the day though, you need to move at a fast pace in Olmec's temple if you want to have any sort of success!

FINAL VERDICT: 4.0/10

"Attila the Hun" was a very weak and boring episode. None of rounds ranked above a score of a 5 since there was nothing impressive about any of them. The low score is really not surprising because there is nothing noteworthy about this episode. Most episodes on the show at least have one strong round, but this episode was very dull and boring all the way through. There was not even much to talk about in any of the rounds either, and I am the type of person that likes to do a lot of typing! The temple run was boring and average just like the rest of the episode. Rachelle was just a slow player and you should never take your sweet old time while inside the temple. This episode was very special though because TeenNick played it for their station as a special (along with "Great Seal" and "Bifocal Monocle". I definitely would not recommend this episode though because it was so dull and lackluster. But do watch it at least for completion, or if it is one of the rare featured episodes like the one time it appeared on TeenNick.

I'm also not surprised with the low score Golden Goblet got. It didn't even make the 5 range, like I had originally predicted. But yeah, this episode was just plain boring. Just looking at the episode title is boring. I totally remember the unenthusiastic Purple Parrot girl and the idiot Green Monkey boy on the Steps of Knowledge. The temple layout was pretty tough, but Rachelle was way too slow and really didn't give it enough effort. Also, is it me, or did Rachelle and Taylor "have a little something more" going on between them, ala John and Missy? They hugged for a long time after the tiebreaker, and Taylor blew a kiss to Rachelle after time ran out? More Legends romance going on there.

Overall, great review as usual. I guess we can work on Silk Ladder next? At least that episode gave us something to talk about.

Rachelle and Taylor did have something going on for sure. Although Taylor looked way too creepy in my opinion to get in a relationship with.  Although I think the temple run would've been more successful if Rachelle started low. And she never finished the Silver Monkey in time either. So it was possible she would've been forced into the Laser Light Room and meet one more guard there?

Yeah, I am looking forward to reviewing            next. We can get a head start on that one tonight actually. It will be millions of times better than Attila the Hun, even if the win was piss easy. Unlike Blue Pearl or Queen Boadicea, I have nothing written for this episode. But it will be the first review we write from scratch. We can split up what rounds we can write about. I don't mind writing for any of the rounds. I could definitely do the Legend and Steps of Knowledge though as I remember most of it. The temple run will be easy for sure to write about too.

Don't you mean Dark Forest? I must be the only person who thinks the temple guards were in the Ledges and Room of the Secret Password, and NOT Dark Forest. It just doesn't make any sense to me to put a guard in the Dark Forest.

And sounds good to me. Maybe you could write the beginning portions of the review, and I can take care of the latter portion? And I assume you have pictures for the episode too.

And time for another episode review! This episode review is special because it is our 100th episode review for this project. That is right, we have reviewed at least 100 of the episodes now. What better way to kick off our 100th episode by reviewing an episode that is pretty famous around here?  Well, here is our combined review for "             ". 

ROBIN HOOD AND MARIAN'S LADDER

MOAT: 6/10

For this moat, the players had to pull themselves across the moat with a rope, while laying on a tube. Once they got up, they had to throw the tube back to their partner, so they could cross in the same manner. This was just an average moat. It was just your typical Season 1 moat with an uninspiring, uncreative challenge. At the end of the round, the Silver Snakes (in which Jeremy obsessively compulsively kept banging on the gong), Purple Parrots, Blue Barracudas, and Red Jaguars advanced to the Steps of Knowledge.

LEGEND: 7/10

Deep in the Sherwood Forest, Robin Hood was an outlaw who lived with his merry men. Some say they were called merry men because they had did not work and other say they were called that because they wore green tights. Everyone was merry until the Sheriff of Nottingham forced Maid Marian to marry him. Robin Hood, Maid Marian's boyfriend, was very upset by this, so he sneaked into Nottingham to rescue her. Preparation for the marriage had already begun. Maid Marian, being upset, decided to lock herself into a tall tower as she want nothing to do with her marriage to the Sheriff of Nottingham. She told her seamstress to make an escape ladder out of the silk from her wedding gown. One night, Maid Marian used the silk ladder to escape from the tower into the arms of Robin Hood. Both of them walked off into the Sherwood Forest as they live happily ever after.

This legend was pretty decent compared to most Season 1 legends. It actually felt like it was a complete story rather than something that was randomly thrown together. I also liked how the story had a "happy ending" instead of leaving it off in a cliff hanger or on a morbid note. However, the legend really should've talked more about Robin Hood. There was hardly any background information on Robin Hood, like how he robbed from the rich and gave to the poor. But I like how this legend focuses on two historical figures (Robin Hood and Marian) rather than one. In conclusion, this was a good legend that could've been better if they talked about Robin Hood a little more.

STEPS OF KNOWLEDGE: 3/10

Sometimes it was better for contestants to actually let Olmec finish his questions before answering them. In this Steps of Knowledge, some of the teams gave bad answers because they never let Olmec finish his question. The Blue Barracuda boy in general was pretty bad at giving answers. One of Olmec's questions was, "Who was Robin Hood's chief title enemy?". His answer was "Robin Hood and Marian's Silk Ladder".       That answer was not even close to being right. Another instance involved the Red Jaguars letting Olmec finish his choices of answers. The correct answer to Olmec's question was "Robbed from the rich and gave to the poor", but the Red Jaguars only stated the first part. The Silver Snakes were the only good team during this round as they answered all of Olmec's questions correctly. Naturally, they were the first team to finish on the final step. The Purple Parrots weren't too bad and they only got one answer wrong. However, they kept on fidgeting and stomping their feet in frustration whenever they didn't get a question. They eventually joined the Silver Snakes on the final step. All in all, this was an eventful Steps of Knowledge round for the wrong reasons. One thing that we can take from this round is that you should always let Olmec finish his questions before answering them.

TEMPLE GAMES: 7/10

The temple games featured a matchup between the Purple Parrots and Silver Snakes. The Silver Snakes featured Erika, who was 13 and had a collection of over 200 pencils. Her partner, Jeremy, was 12 years old and had a collection of over 10,000 sports cards. The Purple Parrots featured Nicole, who was 11 years old and had a collection of over 50 glass figurines. Her partner, Dustin, was also 11 years old and liked to ride a dirt bike while wearing a helmet that made him look like a "dork". The temple games were pretty entertaining and memorable. I found the player interviews to be memorable and funny for all the weird things that the contestants had to say. The temple game sequence was good too, and it featured some of the more uncommon games of Season 1. The Silver Snakes were more of a dominant team though during this round.

In the first temple game, Erika] and Dustin had to grab one of Robin Hood's love letters and place it on Maid Marian's window by climbing up her tower. Once they put a love letter on her window, then they had to come back down and grab another one and repeat the same process. The first player to place all 5 love letters or the player furthest along after 60 seconds will win. In the end, Dustin failed to get any of his love letters at the top and even dropped one while climbing. Erika managed to get one love letter though and won the first temple game with a score of 2-0. In the second temple game, Jeremy and Nicole had to help Robin Hood rob from the rich and give to the poor. To do this, they had to grab a bag of money from the rich side of the corner and bring it to the poor side of the corner. The player that delivers the most money bags after 60 seconds will win. Both players only delivered one money bag a piece, and both players earn themselves a half-pendant. The score is 1-0.5 for the Silver Snakes entering into the final temple game. In the team game, each player had to grab an arrow and place it on their heads. They then had to slide down a slippery ramp and throw it through the bulls-eye. The player that gets the most arrows through the bulls-eye will win. This temple game was very close and the Silver Snakes literally won it with 1 second left. With a final score of 2-0.5, the Silver Snakes enter Olmec's Temple with two pendants.  

TEMPLE RUN: 5/10

Quite frankly, Jeremy and Erika were far from fast or impressive in this temple run. Every single room they entered had the easiest of tasks to be accomplished. Hit a gong, climb through the Cave, climb ladder, spin on oversized hamster wheel, sit on plastic seat, press two more actuators, simple. Jeremy grabbed the ladder with 1:02 left on the clock, and escaped from the temple with 33 seconds left on the clock. Making this by far the simplest win on the show. Jeremy even does some stupid little jig once he crosses the finish line. Like pressing a few actuators requires a great big celebration. All in all, this temple run is just as uninspiring and as unimpressive as "The Mask of Shaka Zulu". Exemplifying a win where a team only wins due to a simple layout.

FINAL VERDICT: 5.6/10

To conclude, Robin Hood and Marian's Ladder, aka was a very eventful, albeit average episode. The legend was interesting and temple games were pretty exciting. The Steps of Knowledge and the temple run is what brings it down. The temple win was by far the EASIEST win the shows history, and Erika and Jeremy still finished in little time. If there's one win every legends enthusiast dislikes, it's this one. Despite that though, this isn't the very worst episode in the show's history. It still has some positive points to the episode, and I still recommend it to anyone.

Looks good to me. I was honestly expecting Silk Ladder to crack the 6 range, but alas it wasn't meant to be. The Steps of Knowledge and temple run really brought it down. Oh well, yay for us reaching the 100th review!

Yeah, Robin Hood was definitely an eventful and memorable episode to me. I actually like this episode, minus the lame temple win. The Steps of Knowledge was really bad, especially the Blue Barracuda boy. I mean those two questions he got wrong could've been the ones that sent his team to the temple games. The temple game interviews were funny because the contestants all had weird stuff to say. But my God, that temple run was very lame.        I mean how do you finish with 0:32 with that easy of a layout?        I really don't mind Erika as she moved fast and enter five rooms in under a minute. But Jeremy was a horrible player. It took him about 30 seconds to reach where Erika was taken out? He was both slow and clueless. After "Benzibab", this temple run was the second fastest team win. It should've honestly beaten Benzibab and even Shaka Zulu's time if a team like Jennifer and Damian had this layout. In fact, any team would've won this layout.           

Also, what is the official name for this episode? This was very confusing to me because Kirk kept called it "Robin Hood and Maid Marian's Silk Ladder". But on Ed's site and in the original post, it was listed as "Robin Hood and Marian's Ladder". I went with this title since that seems to be the one that is commonly used here. I am completely stumped on what title is correct though. 

So I guess next we can work on Lion-Slashed Jacket? What a boring episode, but I do have pictures for that one for sure. I literally don't remember anything from that one. I am also going to work on Queen Nzinga individually. From what I recall, that episode just sucked. And then after all that, maybe we can work on the best solo win or Davy Crockett together?

I totally forgot that we finished all the episodes for the S1L8 production day. I updated the production day post with all the episodes that day. The production day finished with a pretty good score despite all the failed escapes that day. Cobra Staff, Blue Pearl, and Lost Lariat all finished higher than Silk Ladder despite not ending in wins. It just goes to show you how weak the Silk Ladder episode is despite it being a win.            Mata Hari was obviously the weakest link though and that episode really drags that production day down. Overall, I like all the episodes minus Mata Hari from this day.

Also, I am hoping to send you my Lion-Slashed Jacket part by tomorrow. It is such a bland and uneventful episode though. I literally forgot that it ended in a tiebreaker.

I remember next to nothing about that episode either, but I'll do my best. I have a feeling that episode will probably rank in the low 5 range. We should honestly just complete all the collaboration ones, sans John Sutter, our last one. It seriously makes this whole project go by a whole lot faster. Remind me again why we didn't think of this sooner?

Honestly, that might be the best way to get this project done with. I prefer doing collaborations over individual reviews because it is much easier and we can delegate the work load. Plus, we also check-up on each others work and I think the episodes receive a more fair score with two people working on them. With 20 episodes left, we can do collaborations for all of them from here on out. And that would make painful episodes like Nzinga, Robert the Bruce, Mulan, and William Tell go by quicker.
