Am I the only one who loves the Mask of Shaka Zulu?

When watching this episode I noticed a two or three second jump on the timer when the camera changed from the Holes to the Tomb. Also, the contestant had just barely entered the passage from the Holes to the Tomb when all of a sudden the scene jumps to him with the mask in hand. By the way, the contestant could have completed the temple with 1:30 if not 1:40 on the clock had he used the Tomb/Shrine passage. Oh Well!

There was no jump in time, actually. I've watched that clip many, many times in the past (to evaluate whether it was edited or not, which I think it was), but the time appears to stay perfectly constant... weird, eh?

I agree with you about the awkward transition, though. :)

So then the clock was off 2 or 3 seconds for the remainder of the run?!?

I don't think it was at all. I can watch the clip one more time if you'd like.

Also, notice that the kid seems to hold down the actuator for a little longer than people usually did. I wonder if holding the actuator down long enough would unlock the door. It's certainly a possibility.

The words "production error" are a bit vauge. What that error may be could have been the door opening from a push or a longer hold on the actuator , we are just so quick to assume that it was a problem with the "production stage team". (Or atleast I am)
Crazy, but that's how it goes.

It's also very possible that it wasn't an error and the kid just got lucky with an easy layout. :P

Yeah, unlikely i know... that's just like giving them the trip... Especially cuz he only ran into one temple gaurd, too.

Ya know how The stone marker of Leif Erikson and the Paintbrush of Da Vinci featured those horrible dead ends?

Maybe this was a similar case with the dead end being the Treasure Room or the Shrine, and the runner luckilly chose the correct path.

You know, it wouldn't be entirely out of the question for that door to open. It was only one room less than the Ivory Hunting Horn of Roland which I'm pretty sure wasn't a production flaw.
