I will admit part of me misses this project. Not so much the writing part, but the actual discussion about each episode. I miss picking which episode to do next and seeing how it will rank. I actually do want to write a few more reviews too for episodes I never got a chance to cover. Maybe I will try 1 or 2 over Thanksgiving Break?  :mrred:

Oh yeah, it would be cool if you do more also. I would totally give you feedbacks like old times.  ;) If you want to take requests, how about Golden Jaguar? It is a fun episode and one of the few great Season 1 episodes. Despite ending in a loss, it finished in the 7's range for me. Maybe you will get something higher or lower? :mrblue:

Yeah, I was thinking of doing Golden Jaguar, and also Sir Edmund Hilary. Both were exciting episodes, both were failed escapes, and both were filmed the same day too. So it would only be fitting. :mrblue: :mrsilver: I might even write one of the episode later today if I remember. I miss this project too, and I'm sure it will help the activity on this forum. I would love for you to rewrite some of my episodes too. I'll gladly give you feedback on it, and of course your feedback on my rewrites are very much appreciated. ;)

I totally forgot about Sir Edmund Hillary. That was a great episode too filled with some entertaining rounds like the legend, Steps of Knowledge, and the very fun temple run.  :mrsilver: I think that episode ranked in the 7's? Even though Tara an Danny did not win, I think they were one of the best teams of Season 1. At least after Lawrence of Arabia, Lost Gold Mine, and Galileo. But Sir Edmund Hillary is a great choice and that episode never gets old.  :mrsilver:

Okay, I just got done rewritting Sir Edmund Hillary. It finished with almost the exact same score you gave it. I also corrected the spelling of "Abominable" in your portion of the review, where you spelt it "Abdominal" instead. Regardless, my rewrites are up now, and tell me what you think. ;)

And we are back in business!

And as for Sir Edmund Hillary, it was truly a solid episode despite ending in a loss. In fact, I have to say that Danny and Tara were one of the strongest Season 1 teams as I mentioned earlier. The moat crossing in this episode was bland indeed, but at least it was not overly long like Silver Saddle Horn.  :afro: We also see Tim and Retina in the moat, who are the first moat rejects we found on the show IIRC? The legend was interesting too, and the only time the historical figure was actually alive when it was made! That alone made this episode more memorable more so than others. The Steps of Knowledge was Tara dominance for the Silver Snakes. And then we had the silly "velociraptor" answer. Really? Even as a 6-year old I would've known abdominal snowman was the correct answer.  :P

The temple games were good, although the Silver Snakes dominating it sort of made it boring. But I like the unique games like the "climb Mt. Everest" game and the team game where they had to climb the slide and turn the knobs off. That was pure dominance on Danny and Tara's part and I never seen anyone own that game like them.  :o

The temple run was the highlight of this run. Danny chose to take the direct path (like most Season 1 players) but is then forced to take the low road until he is quickly remove from the Heart Room. Tara takes over right away and does something no other Season 1 contestant will ever do - Use the entrance room opposite of where their partner made a dead end! Thank you Tara for using a little common sense. She swiftly completes her other rooms, but is forced down into the Well from the Shrine. She grabs the Medal with 23 seconds. As she blazes out of the temple, she makes the not so smart decision of taking the central shaft out. With time not on her side, it ended in the Wheel Room.

Overall, this was an exciting episode and there is no surprise to see all our scores almost identical. Actually, I feel better now that your score is almost identical to mine. I sometime feel like I am over inflating an episode with some of my scores, but Sir Edmund Hillary deserves the love.  :mrsilver: And I actually enjoy the temple run despite the mistakes. Danny and Tara were a strong team with a pretty long layout. Tara's mistake was bad, but it doesn't bother me as much as... Ron from Anne Bonny. -_- Ron's run should've been an easy win, while Tara's would've been down to the wire. Good review, and I am happy to see this episode get a high score. :mrsilver:

I am planning on writing a review for Thanksgiving Day. But I won't say what episode it is yet. ;)

Yeah, the temple games were pretty one sided. It was like it was too obvious the Silver Snakes were going to sweep the temple games. But the temple game sequence is what helped it from getting a lower score. I also like this temple run and whole episode too. I would even go as far as saying Danny and Tara were by far, THE strongest losing team in Season 1. Nice to see this project get rebooted again too. :mryellow:

Also, I hope my review didn't sound too identical to yours. I definitely made sure to put them in my own words, and I didn't want to sound like I'm plagiarized either. But let me know if you ever feel like I'm copying your reviews word for word. I just want to make sure I don't plagiarize anything. And I can't wait for your episode rewrite too. Just send me a PM as soon as you're done. And I'll cut and paste everything to my original review. ;)

And PS, you STILL spelt Abominable wrong. I'm pretty sure Abdominal related to the stomach, not snowmen. :afro:

Christmas surprise time! :mrred:  And this time, I rewrote the Roland episode. Since it's Christmas, and since this episode featured Red/Green temple games and a win, I figured this would be a very fitting choice. It was pretty much the only choice I had, considering all the others were either lackluster, already been rewritten, or a collaboration done by us. And our scores were exactly the same, even though I graded some of the rounds differently than you. Regardless, read it over and tell me what you think. ;)

Roland is a great Christmas present!  :mrred:  The whole episode was fun and competitive all the way through. Kirk and Olmec were having fun with the "Roland" puns also. And every round was unique too. The moat in this episode featured one of the best moat ideas on the show! It was creative and looked very fun to do. Plus, the moat in this episode was close. The legend was pretty interesting. I enjoy Medieval history, but this legend sounded a little lame and made-up like most Season 3 legends. Although the David Copperfield line was actually kind of funny. :P I also remember how the SoK was close in this episode. Most of the questions were answered before Olmec finished his question. The temple games were also pretty decent too and used some of the better temple games of Season 3. The temple game sequence is exactly identical to Queen Boadicea too, which was also Red/Green and filmed after Roland. :P I didn't care for the team game used in this episode, but this is one of the few times that temple game was close and not one-sided (unlike Queen Boadicea). The temple run featured quite possibly the easiest win and layout of Season 3. Yakerra only had to enter 5 rooms to reach the artifact, but she did just fine and brought the artifact out in the second fastest time! Although this is the fastest win in my book because we know Shaka Zulu's layout was not legit. ;) Despite the fast win though, Yakerra was more on the average side. She only won because her layout was very generous. But she still kept a good pace in the temple, and the whole win was pretty fun. And the ending was fun too. Imagine if Gator or Zac had this layout? It would've been a 2+ minute win!

Overall, this was a great review to read. ;) I like how some of the scores for each round were different, but we still came up with the same overall score. I do agree with your temple run score, and I should've gave it a 7 too. A 6.25 feels a little low and belongs to runs like Hans Holbein or Imperial Wizard. I might actually make that change, which will raise the episode score a little bit. I know this is not a popular opinion, but I actually like this episode. It was fun and creative all the way through, and the Red Jaguars were a fun team to watch. Not as amazing as Pirate Captain or Apanuugpak, but it is still entertaining and I always enjoy going back to watch it. And no one really praises Yakerra or talks about this episode as much as they use to.  ;)

Thanks! :mrred:  And yeah, nobody really praises Yakerra as much as the old days of the forum. Where it was considered an "amazing run" and Yakerra was "an amazing all star player." I mean, it was an exciting run, don't get me wrong. But Yakerra was just average at best, and she really hesitated at a lot of points. And the rest of the episode was exciting too. The moat was one of my personal favorites on the show, the temple games featured a great selection, (minus the team game, which I always hated), and the Roland puns were pretty funny too. Even the David Copperfield line in the legend was humorous too, even though it had nothing to do with Roland himself. But I liked the temple game sequence the most in this episode. Especially the trampoline game, which was incredibly underused on the show. And yes, Royal Torque also had a similar temple game sequence, and a Red/Green match up with Red winning. This was definitely one of the more stronger episodes of Season 3, but even then I definitely prefer the likes of Lost Hornpipe and Apanuugpak more. ;)

As for my next episode, I promised I'd rewrite Atahualpa next, so I'll take on that very soon. I should have it up within the next few days. ;) :mrblue:

Roland is one of the reasons why I loved Kirk in Season 3. The guy was having fun out there and actually felt like a part of the show! The whole episode is entertaining all the way through too. The moat from this production day is also one of my all time favorite moats. The only one I like better is the one from Sir Gawain's day. ;) Also, the trampoline temple game definitely deserved more appearances. It was only used one time on this production day though. And I never understood how people use to think that Yakerra was an "all star player". She is not even the best winning Red Jaguars girl from Season 3! She really could'e beaten Shaka Zulu's time if she didn't hesitate and get lost at some points (like trying to exit the temple guard door in the Shrine :afro: ) At the end of the day though, she earned her win and I respect this one much more than I respect Shaka Zulu's win. ;) :mrred:

I am totally looking forward to your Golden Jaguar review too. ;) This was one of the very few good Season 1 episodes, and it even cracked a 7-range despite being a loss! It was one of those episodes where it was competitive all day and featured a good temple team. I really want to revisit and episode I never covered yet too. I have a few in mind, but I will make it a surprise when I post it. :afro:

I remember the trampoline game from episodes like Sforza and Xerxes. They definitely should've used it more often, it looked like a fun game to do. And I agree about Kirk's hosting duties in Season 3. He really did look like he was having fun. Same with Olmec, the contestants, and the producers. I mean, look at how much fun everyone had with the last ever production day of the show! I agree about Yakerra too. I find her really overrated, but I do find her temple run MUCH more respectable than Shaka Zulu, aka, "the best win ever." :mrred:

And I should have Atahualpa up very soon, maybe even tomorrow. I really want to get it done before 2014 is over, so I can end the year with a bang. This year was very slow goings for this project. Ever since we finished up writing the reviews, it's like the progress slowed down considerably. But I definitely want to keep this going, and I would love to read a rewrite of yours too. Are there any in particular you want to do next? ;)

And just for fun, here are all the Red/Green episodes that have been covered by us:

Shaka Zulu (collaboration one)
Anny Bonny (collaboration one)
Battle Flag (collaboration one)
Royal Torque (collaboration one, our first one)

Lawrence of Arabia (rewritten by me)
Apanuugpak (rewritten be me)
Roland (rewritten by me, the most recent one)

Not rewritten yet: Silver Saddle Horn

Literally half the Red/Green episodes were collaborations we did. Very interesting how 3/4 of those collaborations were failed escapes. And all the winning episodes (sans Shaka Zulu of course :mrred:) were already rewritten by me. The former two being very legendary wins might I add. The only Red/Green episode not rewritten yet is Silver Saddle Horn. Which coincidentally, is the only loss where a team does NOT reach an artifact. Naturally, it was between Roland and Silver Saddle Horn, and of course Roland was the easy choice for me. ;) You can see how I had little choice in rewritting Roland, can't you?

I would actually stay away from Silver Saddle Horn if I were you. :afro: It doesn't seem like a bad episode at first, but it was so boring and every round was pretty bad when I watched it. The moat was very long, the legend was boring, the temple games were boring despite having some unique games, and the temple run sucked. It actually ranked pretty low when I reviewed it. Good choice on picking Roland because it is on a completely different spectrum than Silver Saddle Horn. :afro:

Interesting stats though. Maybe I will make a stat for each temple game combination and get the average score for each combination? Kind of like we did with the production day rankings. It would look like this:

Red-Green
Shaka Zulu: 5.9
Silver Saddle Horn: 4.4

Lawrence of Arabia: 9.0*
Anne Bonny: 5.6
Comet-Embroidered Battle Flag: 7.0
Roland: 7.2*
Queen Boadicea: 7.1

Mussel-Shell Armor: 8.9*
Overall score: 6.89

* = Average score of both of our reviews

This was actually a pretty temple game combination that featured more than half of the episodes with 7+ scores. It also has the two highest rates episodes in this thread too (Lawrence of Arabia and Apanuugpak). The Season 1 episodes sort of drag the overall score down though, and Silver Saddle Horn REALLY brings it down. But compared to most combinations, this has to be the best. ;)  :mrred:

I might do more later. ;)

I don't know, I always thought Red vs. Green was an ugly combination. The only thing it had going for it was the episodes featuring that pair. But the colors were too dark and gloomy, and very ugly to look at honestly. Even if Red and Green are Christmas colors, I personally hate these colors. Too ugly. I personally liked Green vs. Purple and Blue vs. Purple the best. And Atahualpa had the latter combination too, which looked really pretty. :mrblue: :mrpurple:

If you're looking for some more color combination stats, here are the ones for Blue vs. Purple:

Blue vs. Purple
Lucky Pig: 4.5
Atahualpa: 7.1*
King Tut: 7.8
Dr. Livingstone: 6.2
Lucky Pillow: 8.6*
Sacred Ring: 6.3
Leopard Skin Cloak: 7.65*
Hans Holbein: 5.6
Overall Score: 6.71

* = Average score of both of our reviews

I know it's a little too early to do these stats, since I haven't even rewritten Atahualpa yet. But the likes of Leopard Skin Cloak and Lucky Pillow have been rewritten, so I suppose it's still apropos. Three of them were written by me (Dr. Livingstone, Lucky Pillow, Hans Holbein), and the other five were written by you. Unlike the Red vs. Green episodes, no collaborations. The overall score for Blue vs. Purple is a tad lower than Red vs. Green. And like the latter combination, only one Season 1 episode (Lucky Pig) drags the average waaaaay down. But it does have a great episode selection, and it's a beautiful set of colors. ;) :mrblue: :mrpurple: Speaking of other Blue/Purple episodes not covered yet, I also want to cover King Tut somewhere down the road. I might cover that one after I'm done with Atahualpa. ;)

And here it is! :mrblue: My rewrite of the Atahualpa episode. It finished with almost the exact same average that you gave it. This was a very fun episode to review, like the past two episodes I rewrote have been. And don't forget to check out my stats above too. Which I'll need to update soon too. Regardless, now that it's up, tell me what you think. ;)
