Legends: Wild Jungle

Season 1, Layout 1, Episode 1

(the camera zooms in on an ancient lush jungle, the palms are moving away as an elephant is heard. all the palms are gone, showing Olmec)

Olmec: Legends of the Hidden Temple: Wild Jungle

(The camera shifts to the temple and its rooms)

Olmec: With your guide, Kirk Fogg! And here he is now.

(Kirk is seen coming down the steps of the temple)

Kirk: Thank you, thank you! It's nice to see you! Thank you, Olmec. Welcome to the Hidden Temple. The rooms are filled with lost treasures that are protected by mysterious Mayan Temple Guards. Only Olmec knows the legend behind each of the treasures in his temple. Which one are we going to hear about today?

Olmec: The legend of Captain Kidd and the Hangman's Rope.

Kirk: Ah, the legend of Captain Kidd and the Hangman's Rope. Well, the legend is set and one of these six teams will have the chance to retrieve the rope. Will it be The Red Jaguars? The Blue Barracudas? The Green Monkeys? The Orange Iguanas? The Purple Parrots? Or the Silver Snakes? They?re going to have to pass some tough mental and physical tests, and in the end, only one team will have the right to enter Olmec's temple, but first they have to cross the moat, and here's how they're gonna have to do it today.

Before you lies an ancient bridge that is stripped. There is a rope above and one below. When I say go, one player from each team will hang from the top rope and walk across the bottom one. When a partner drops, he must go back and try again. When the second partner reaches the other side, he must get down and run over here and hit the gong! (Kirk hits the Red Jaguars' gong) The first four teams to hit their gong will go on to the Steps of Knowledge! Are you ready?

Teams: Yeah!

Kirk: Are you ready Olmec?

Olmec: Rock on!

Kirk: Teams, On your marks... get set... GOOOO!

(Event occurs)

Kirk: All right, all right! We have our four teams. Going on to the Steps of Knowledge are the Red Jaguars, the Blue Barracudas, The Orange Iguanas, and the Silver Snakes!  Green Monkeys and Purple Parrots did a great job. We got a nice gift for them, and here's what it is.

(Prizes are announced)

Wild Jungle EP: Captain Kidd and the Hanging Rope
« Reply #1 on: February 02, 2007, 03:23:30 AM »
Kirk: As we continue our quest, it?s now time for Olmec to tell us about the legend of Captain Kidd and the Hanging Rope. But pay close attention because your knowledge of the legend can bring you a step closer to the temple.

Olmec: The thing that explorers fear the most are pirates. Captain William Kidd was a cruel and bloodthirsty pirate. He was once a privateer. He sailed the seven seas, and he stole many riches. When he killed a crew member by hitting him with a bucket because of threatened mutiny, he became a pirate. When he was caught, however he was planned to be hung. And the first try was unsucessful. The rope broke and collapsed, and a new one had to be made. The first rope ended up in the temple. Your quest is to retrieve it and bring it back here.

Kirk: Thank you, Olmec. But tell us, where is the hangman's rope?

(Camera shows the rope, and zooms out to show its location)

Olmec: The Hangman's Rope can be found in The Chameleon Chamber.

Kirk: Alright, eams, you are standing on the Steps of Knowledge. In a minute, Olmec will ask you a question about the legend you just heard. If you think you know the answer, stomp down on the ancient marking in front of you. Go ahead, stomp on it!

(Blue Barracudas stomp in first)

Kirk: Okay, Blue Barracudas. You'll have to answer the question. If you're right, move down one step, but if you're wrong and run out of time, you'll have to give another team a chance to answer. The first two teams that make it to the bottom step will go on to the next round. Olmec, we're ready for your first question.

Olmec: Captain Kidd's first job at sea was crew member, privateer, or pirate?

(The Orange Iguanas ring in.)

Orange Iguanas: Privateer.

Olmec: That is correct.

(The Orange Iguanas move down to the second step.)

Olmec: Captain Kidd's real first name is John, Peter, or...

(The Orange Iguanas ring in.)

Orange Iguanas: William!

Olmec: That is correct.

(The Orange Iguanas move down to the third step.)

Olmec: Kidd killed a crew member because of taking over the cook, throwing the lookout overboard, or mutiny?

(The Orange Iguanas ring in.)

Orange Iguanas: Mutiny.

Olmec: Correct!

(The Orange Iguanas reach the bottom step.)

Kirk: Whoa, the Orange Iguanas blazed right through and they are at the bottom step now! Olmec, go on!

Olmec: Was Kidd hung in Scottland....

(The Blue Barracudas ring in.)

Blue Barracudas: Germany?

Olmec: That is not one of the three choices. The three choices are...

(The Red Jaguars ring in.)

Red Jaguars: England!

Olmec: That is correct.

(The Red Jaguars move down to the second step.)

Olmec: Was Kidd hung on the first try, the second try, or the tenth try?

(The Silver Snakes ring in.)

Silver Snakes: The second try.

Olmec: That is correct.

(The Silver Sankes move down to the second step.)

Olmec: What did Kidd kill his crew member with? A sword, a...

(The Blue Barracudas ring in.)

Blue Barracudas: A bucket!

Olmec: That is correct.

(The Blue Barracudas move down to the second step.)

Olmec: How long did Kidd have to wait for his trial?

(The Red Jaguars ring in.)

Red Jaguars: One year!

Olmec: That is correct.

(The Red Jaguars move down to the third step.)

Olmec: What happened during Kidd's hanging for the first try?

(The Red Jaguars ring in.)

Red Jaguars: The rope broke!

Olmec: That is correct.

(The Red Jaguars reach the bottom step.)

Kirk: These two team are moving on to the Temple Games. They are the Red Jaguars and the Orange Iguanas. Blue Barracudas and Silver Snakes gave it a great effort, and they're not going to go home empty handed. We got a prize for both of them, and here it is.

(Prize is announced)

Kirk: These two teams will be competing for the rights to enter Olmec's temple and they're going to do it right after this!

(Pendant Splits)

Kirk: Welcome back to Legends! Now the glory goes to the fastest and the strongest. But before we get started, let?s get to know our team players. On the Red Jaguars, we have Jonathan. He likes basketball and he plays it everyday.  And his partner Lily loves to play soccer! Wow, this team likes sports. Let's hear it for the Red Jaguars!

(Applause)

Kirk: And on the Orange Iguanas we have Brendon. He also has soccer as his hobby and he knows some great tricks. And his partner Theresa is comes from Aquador! Let's hear it for the Orange Iguanas!

(Applause)

Kirk: Okay teams, go set up for your games, and I?ll tell you what?s going to happen. In the temple games, teams are competing to win Pendants of Life. (Kirk holds up a pendant)They need those pendants to protect themselves from the dreaded temple guards as they make their way through the temple. There are three temple games. And here's temple game number one!

Captain Kidd stole lots and lots of riches and gold. While we don't wanna encourage stealing, we'll just try this game out. When I say go, A player will jump on the trampoline and up onto this webbing and smash the cover of the compartments to find gold. Then you will put the gold back in your bin. The team that has the most gold at the end of sixty seconds wins!

Alright, some stealing to do! Let's put sixty seconds on the clock!

(Clock bangs down)

Kirk: On your marks, get set, go!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: Well, the time is up! Let's check it out over here. The Orange Iguanas got one, two, three, four, five pieces of gold. The Red Jaguars got three, the Orange Iguanas get the half pendant of life! The next game is also worth a half pendant. Let's check it out!

Captain Kidd killed one crew member. Again, as we don't wnat to emphasise that killing is right, we just wanna do something similar to Captain Kidd. Before you stands four crew statues. When I say go, put a cannonball in your slingshot. Then shoot it at the statues. The first player to knock all four over, or the team that's further along at the end of sixty seconds wins!

Some crew members will be gone! Let's put sixty seconds on the clock!

(Clock bangs down)

Kirk: On your marks, get set, SHOOT!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: Okay, Jonathan managed to get all four statues down, so that gives the Red Jaguars the half pendant! The final game will give you a full pendant and so let's check it out!

Kidd was hung finally in London. Now you must hang the evil villian yourself. When I say go, grab the statue and place it on the scooter and roll it to your partner. He will then put the statue in the hanging rope and pull the other side down. The first team that gets the statue up wins, AND goes to the temple.

Okay! No clock this time. On your marks, get set, GO!!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: Okay, looks like the Orange Iguanas got the statue hung up first! They get the full pendant and so the Orange Iguanas are going to the temple! Red Jaguars, come on, come over here. You did a great job and you're not goin' away empty handed. We've got a nice gift for both of you and here it is.

(Prizes are announced)

Kirk: The Orange Iguanas blazed through it all. Now let's see about the final round. The Orange Iguanas are going to the temple and are goin' to retrieve the Hangman's Rope, right after this!

(Pendant Splits)

Kirk: Welcome back to Legends. The Orange Iguanas have proven themselves worthy, and now have earned the right to enter Olmec's Temple. But before we get started, Olmec will give us some information on how to retrieve the Hanging Rope of Captain Kidd.

Olmec: You could start by running through the Mining Chamber and climbing down into the Pit of Despair. Crawl through the pit, then race into the Chameleon Chamber. Change the color of the right chameleon and you could choose to go up the Lion's Lair, or into the Tropical Forest. If you escape, you may have a chance to enter the Sacred Safari. Find the right key to go upstairs, or plough through the wall and into the Lion Cage. Ride the cage up into the Viper's Nest and pull the snakes from the jars to open the doors to the Shrine of the Silver Monkey. Assemble the statue and you may be headed for the Vine Drop. Next, race up to the Mouth of the Jaguar. Put the fangs in the mouth and jump back into the Pit. Pass through the Room of the Three Gargoyles, race down the stairs and back through the temple gates. The choices are yours and yours alone. Good luck.

Kirk: Okay, you guys won one and a half pendants in the temple games, and here they are. Now, who's going first?

Brendon: Me!

Kirk: Alright, when I say go, you will race through the gates into the temple and make your way into the Chameleon Chamber, hopefully. Be careful though? inside the Temple there are many locked doors and dead ends. Also beware, because in the Temple there are also Temple Guards assigned to protect three specific rooms. If you enter one of those rooms, a Temple Guard will jump out and grab you. You can trade your Pendant for an extra life and go on, but if you're caught without a Pendant, you'll be taken out of the Temple? and it'll be Theresa's turn to enter and try her luck. Now, you have a Pendant and a half, but hidden inside the Temple is the other half of your Pendant. If you can find it and you?re carrying the other half you?ll get an extra life. If you can reach the Hangman's Rope, all the doors of the Temple will instantly unlock, and the Temple Guards will vanish. You?ll have three minutes, and you will both be handsomely rewarded? and here's how!

(Prizes announced)

Kirk: Okay we wanna get the Orange Iguanas a vacation. Brendon, here let's get in position! Put your mouthpieces in 'cause you never know when you're gonna go. Let's set the clock for three minutes....

(Clock bangs down)

Kirk: On your marks, get set, GOO!!!

(Brendon races up into the Room of the Three Gargoyles. Third tongue opens the door to Mining Chamber)

(Brendon enters Mining Chamber with 2:45 left. Second door opens to the Pit of Despair)

(Third door to the Mouth of the Jaguar opens, 2:21 left)

(TEMPLE GUARD! But Brendon goes on. The four fangs get in with 2:10 left)

(Brendon heads into the Vine Drop with 2:06 left, but a temple guard takes him out.)

(Theresa races up into the temple and traverses downward into the Mining Chamber with 1:57 left)

(She makes it to the Vine Drop with 1:00 left, but heads back into the Lion's Lair)

(Kirk shouts:" Move fowrd!" and she gets into the Shrine with 0:46 left)

(She slowly assembles the monkey but time runs out as she goes into the Viper's Nest)

Kirk: Oh, oh, oh! She didn't make it! Oh, she got a little caught up there in the Shrine, here comes Theresa. Never mind, they did a great job. Check us out next time for another great Legend of the Hidden Temple: Wild Jungle style! Buh-bye!

(Credits scroll as the camera pans to the hangman's rope)

Olmec: Hmmmmmm....

(Stone Stanley logo)

Artifact Name: The Hangman's Rope of Captain Kidd
Location: The Chameleon Chamber
Season: 1
Layout: 1
Result: Ran out of Time
Time Remaining: N/A

Diagram:

Summary:

Brendon was a very fast frontrunner who knew what he was doing but was taken out in the Vine Drop. And then Theresa came in. She wasn't fast at all and didn't go straight into the Mining Chamber. She made a wrong turn into the Lion's Lair and time was no more when she entered the Viper's Nest. All I have to say is that the episode had a rather dull and disappointing ending.

A wise man named Carveyfan once said: "A little cut and paste never killed anyone, just make sure you edit properly."

Other than that, I have no complaints except that an episode I was gonna put in Season 2 of The Rediscovery was entitled The Silver Earring of Captain Kidd.  Now I need to come up with a new idea, at least I didn't get that close to the end of the season yet.
