*Complete Episode Title: The Boston Tea Party and The Remaining Pound of Tea

LOTHT Wild Jungle Edition

Season 1, Layout 4, Episode 15

(The camera zooms in on an ancient lush jungle, the palms are moving away as an elephant is heard. All the palms are gone, showing Olmec)

Olmec: Legends of the Hidden Temple: Wild Jungle

(The camera shifts to the temple and its rooms)

Olmec: With your guide, Kirk Fogg! And here he is now.

(Kirk is seen coming down the steps of the temple)

Kirk: Thank you, thank you! It's nice to see you! Thank you, Olmec. Welcome to the Hidden Temple. The rooms are filled with lost treasures that are protected by mysterious Mayan Temple Guards. Only Olmec knows the legend behind each of the treasures in his temple. Which one are we going to hear about today?

Olmec: The legend of the Boston Tea Party and the Remaining Pound of Tea.

Kirk: Well, one of these six teams will have the chance to retrieve that remaining pound of tea. Will it be The Red Jaguars? The Blue Barracudas? The Green Monkeys? The Orange Iguanas? The Purple Parrots? Or the Silver Snakes? They're going to have to pass some tough mental and physical tests, and in the end, only one team will earn the right to enter Olmec's temple, but first they have to cross the moat, and here's how they're gonna have to do it today.

A log jam has jammed up the Moat, and there is wood strewn all over the place. When I say go, you're gonna hold onto that net above you, and make your way across the Moat by holding on to the net and stepping on the logs. Once the first partner has crossed, the second partner will make their way across, and as soon as he reaches the other side, it's his job to run over and hit th gong! (Kirk hits the Red Jaguars' gong) The first four teams to hit their gongs go on to the next round--are you ready?

Teams: Yeeaaahhh!!!!

Kirk: Olmec, are you ready?

Olmec: Oh yeah!

Kirk: On your marks, Get Set, GO!!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: Whoo! This was a great match, but we've got our four teams now! Going on to the Steps of Knowledge are the Red Jaguars and the Green Monkeys! And the Orange Iguanas and the Silver Snakes! Blue Barracudas and Purple Parrots gave it a great effort too. They will not be going away empty handed though, here's what we have for them:

(Prizes are announced)

Kirk: As we continue our quest, it's now time for Olmec to tell us about The Boston Tea Party. But teams, pay close attention because your knowledge of the legend can bring you a step closer to the Temple.

Olmec: One of the most known events in American History was The Boston Tea Party. Led by the Sons of Liberty in 1773, this was a most perilous plan.

Son #1: This is outrageous! We should do something! There is no way we are going to take these taxes lying down!

Son#2: What can we do?

Son#3: Oh, I've got a plan! There is a BIG load of tea coming in tomorrow night, and to show our anger, we can dump it all out in ze harbor!

Olmec: But there was one big problem--how could they get on the British's ship?

Son #2: I've got it! Let's put on disguises and sneak on when no one knows!

Olmec: The next day, they dressed up as Indians and snuck on board the ship. There was much trouble brining the casks of tea over--one person even tripped and dropped one into the sea! But anyhow, the Sons of Liberty showed the people of Boston what they were thinking--and dumped all the tea in the harbor. There was much aftermath to the event besides tea washing up on the shores of Boston for weeks, but a huge crisis. Everyone forgot about the crate of tea that didn't get dumped, because it floated into the temple! Your task is to find it, and bring it back here.

Kirk: Thank you Olmec, so--where is the crate of tea?

(Camera shows the cask of tea, then zooms out to show its location)

Olmec: The Remaining Pound of Tea can be found in The Lush Opening.

Kirk: Oooh, the Lush Opening! Teams, you are standing on the Steps of Knowledge. In a minute, Olmec will ask you a question about the legend you just heard. If you think you know the answer, stomp down on the ancient marking in front of you. If you're first, your step will light up. Go ahead, try it now, stomp!

(Orange stomps down first)

Orange, you rang in first, so you have to answer the question. If you're right, you'll move down to the next level. If you're wrong or run out of time, I'm going to give the other teams a chance to answer. The first two teams to make it to the bottom level will be one step closer to Olmec's Temple. Olmec, we are now ready for your first question.

1. Who led The Boston Tea Party?
The Bostonian People
The Sons of Liberty
The Village People

2. What was the cause of the event?
Taxes
Prices
Quality of the products

3. When was the Tea Party held?
1773
1776
1922

4. What was the aftermath of dumping the tea?
A huge crisis
A polluted ocean
A death

5. What was the Sons of Liberty's solution to sneak on board the ship?
Swim
Sink it
Disguise themselves

6. What did the Sons of Liberty disguise themselves as?
Mexicans
Indians
Chinese

7. What else happened after the Tea Party besides the crisis?
Tea washing up on Boston's shores
Tea washing up on London's shores
The smell of tea engulfing America

Kirk: We've got our two teams who are going the Temple Games! They are the Orange Iguanas and the Green Monkeys! The Red Jaguars and the Silver Snakes gave it a great effort too, and they are not going home empty handed. We got a cool prize for both of them, and here it is.

(Prizes are announced)

Kirk: These two teams will play for the right to enter Olmec's Temple, and they're gonna do it right after this!

(Pendant Splits)

Kirk: Welcome back to Legends! Now the glory goes to the fastest and the strongest. But before we get started, let's get to know our team players. On the Orange Iguanas, we have Shane. He likes collecting baseball cards and listening to punk rock music. And his partner Esther likes long-distance running and hiking with her family--her parents and three siblings. Let's hear it for the Orange Iguanas!

(Applause)

Kirk: And on the Green Monkeys we have Jordan. He likes to play lacrosse and ride roller coasters. And his partner Karen likes mountain climbing, and the smaller-scale rock climbing, and wants to be a top model wehn she grows up! This is one thrill-seeking team! Let's hear it for the Green Monkeys!

(Applause)

Kirk: Okay, you girls can go get ready for the first temple game, and boys for the second. This is what's going to happen: in the temple games, teams are competing to win Pendants of Life. (Kirk holds up a pendant). They need those pendants to protect themselves from the dreaded temple guards as they make their way through the temple. There are three temple games. And this is temple game number one:

There was much planning and preparing that was done before the Boston Tea Party. And now, you need to plan and prepare the right things to do. Before you stands a podium with several holes in it--some are right choices, some are wrong choices. You have to guess which ones are right and which ones are wrong. When I say go, take your stopper and make a guess. If it's right, nothing will happen, but wrong will earn you a splash of water! The team with the least wrong guesses at the end of sixty seconds wins!

This can get wet! Let's put sixty seconds on the clock!

(Clock bangs down)

Kirk: On your marks, get set, go!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: The Green Monkeys got 5 wrong guesses, while the Orange Iguanas got 8, so the Green Monkeys get the half pendant of life! The next game is also worth a half pendant, and here it is:

There had to be a lot of dressing up when the Sons of Liberty were disguising themselves, and the materials to make them were hard to find. When I say go, run out there and get to the other end to grab a headress. But beware the swinging obstacles on the way there! Get back here, and place it on one of four statues. The first team that dresses all four, or the team that's further along at the end of sixty seconds wins!

Time for some big-time dress up! Let's put sixty seconds on the clock!

(Clock bangs down)

Kirk: On your marks, get set, GO!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: Well, The Green Monkeys only got two dressed, but the Orange Iguanas managed to dress all four of their statues first, so they get the half pendant. The next game is worth a full pendant:

There was a lot of tea that was dumped on that day in 1773. We're gonna reinact this right now. When I say go, grab a crate and slide down the chute with it, and throw it at the end of the chute. As soon as you throw out the tea, your partner will grab a crate and do the same. The team that gets rid of all their twenty crates first, or the team that throws out the most crates at the end of sixty seconds wins!

Kirk: Okay, this is just wasteful! Let's put sixty seconds on the clock!

(Clock bangs down)

Kirk: On your marks, get set, GO!

(Event Occurs)

Kirk: Let's see, Green have one, two, three, four, five, six, seven left. The Orange Iguanas have one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, NINE left. That gives the Green Monkeys the full pendant. So now they have a pendant and a half, the Orange Iguanas have a half, the Green Monkeys are going to the temple!

(Cheers)

Kirk: Hey, who did a good job too? It was the Orange Iguanas! You're gonna take home a cool prize:

(Prizes are announced)

Kirk: The Green Monkeys are going to the temple, and are going to get to the tea, right after this!

(Camera pans to the the gongs lined up at the Moat)

(Pendant joins)

(Comercial break)

Kirk: Welcome back to Legends. The Green Monkeys have proven themselves worthy, and now have earned the right to enter Olmec's Temple. But before we get started, Olmec will give us some information on how to retrieve the The Remaining Pound of Tea, from the tea party.

Olmec: You could start by running to the Room of the Three Gargoyles. Push in the right tongue, and pass into the Pit of Despair. Crawl through the Pit, then climb into the Mouth of the Jaguar. Place the four fangs into their right places in the mouth, then descend into the Lion's Lair. Correctly place both lions' heads, and pass into the Lush Opening, where you can grab the Remaining Pound of Tea. If the door unlocks below, you could climb down through the plant wall, or, try to enter the Shrine of the Silver Monkey. Assemlbe the statue, and you may be headed for the Forest Fire Room. Pull down on the burnt palms to open the door to the Wild Whirlpool. Slide down the tunnel, and plow through the stone wall into the Sacred Safari. Find the key, but beware--the elephants may be temple guards in disguise. Next, climb into the Tropical Forest. Wade through the room, and you will enter the Chameleon Chamber, and change the color of the correct chameleon to release the doors. Then, you can crawl through the Pit of Despair, and finally crawl through the crawl tube and through the Mining Chamber, back to the temple gates. The choices are yours and yours alone. Good luck!

Kirk: Okay, you guys won one and a half pendants in the temple games, and here they are. Now, who's going first?

Karen: I am!

Kirk: Alright, well, when I say go, you will race through the gates into the temple and you'll make your way towards the the tea crate. But be careful ? the Temple has many locked doors and dead ends. Also hidden in the Temple there are also Temple Guards assigned to protect three specific rooms. If you enter one of those rooms, a Temple Guard will jump out and grab you. You can trade your Pendant for an extra life and go on, but if you're caught without a Pendant, you'll be taken out of the Temple? and it'll be Jordan's turn to enter and try his luck. Now, you have an extra half pendant somewhere in that temple. If you find it, Jordan, you'll get a full pendant--an extra life. If you can reach the tea crate, all the doors of the Temple will instantly unlock, and the Temple Guards will vanish. You'll have three minutes, and for your efforts you will both be handsomely rewarded? and here's how!

(Prizes announced)

Kirk: Now first, what are you going to do in the temple? Karen--what's your strategy?

Karen: Well, I'm gonna run to the Gargoyles, and into the..Pit, then into the Chameleon Chamber, through the bottom floor, then up to the Shrine in the Sacred Safari, then grab the tea cask!

Kirk: Well, we'll see if that works. Let's get in position here, mouthpieces in! Let's put three minutes on the clock!

(Clock bangs down)

Kirk: On your marks, get set, GO!!!

(Karen heads up into the Room of the Three Gargoyles. She hits one tongue, then another, as the door to the Pit of Despair slides open.)

(Heading into the Pit with 2:48 left, she jumps down and heads to the door of the Chameleon Chamber. It opens with 2:44 left. She then slides down the crawl space and lights up Green on her fifth try with 2:23 left.)

(The door to the Tropical Forest opens, so she pushes aside the big panel and jumps in to meet a temple guard! She then walks across and hits the actuator to the Sacred Safari with 2:11 left.)

(Pushing aside the panels, she heads into the Sacred Safari but has a feeling that the stage-right elephant is a disguise. So, she busts down the wall and heads into the Wild Whirlpool with 1:59.)

(She climbs the slide quickly and enters the Forest Fire Room. But the temple guard door slides open and she is captured with 1:43.)

(Jordan races into the temple and makes his way through the Room of the Three Gargoyles, then the Pit, and through the bottom floor. He enters the Wild Whirlpool with 0:58. He slowly climbs up the slide and enters the Forest Fire Room with 0:45 left.)

(He grabs a puzzle piece and places it on the fire. It is obviously the wrong piece, and places it down correctly on the third try. He takes another, and it's got the half pendant on it. He places the other two pieces down and opens the door with only eight seconds left!)

(Grabbing the base, he places it on the podium with two seconds left. But then a temple guard emerges and captures him, and time runs out!)

Kirk: AWWWWW! He was just one room away, aww, he didn't make it through fast enough. Well, they still did a great job, I know, they're tired, but, we're out of time; see you next time for another great Legend of the Hidden Temple: Wild Jungle style! Buh-bye!

(Credits scroll as the camera pans to the picture of the water covering the now lowered fire in the Forest Fire Room)

Olmec: Hmmmmmm....

Layout: 4
Result: Ran Out of Time

Summary:

This was pretty pitiful. All I can say is Karen deserved the prizes, but Jordan did not. Karen was smart and quick, and knew that the direct path would never work, so she followed the bottom floor. She made a mistake though--thinking that one of the elephants was a temple guard in disguise. She ploughed through the wall and was taken out in the Forest Fire Room. She had made great time and cleared a great path for Jordan. He was slow--in speed and in the mind. He had difficulty completing the puzzle in the Forest Fire Room, but retrieved the half-pendant and entered the Shrine, where a guard held on to him till time ran out.
